1 Chronicles 19:1-21:30, Romans 2:24-3:8 , Psalms 11:1-7, Proverbs 19:10-12

Today is the 15th day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. And here we are. This seems to happen every seven days. I don’t know what’s going on but here we are at the threshold of a shiny, sparkly, new week. And what else can we do but step through the threshold together with great anticipation about what God will speak to us this week. Now as we move into a new week we’ll read from a new translation, the Christian Standard Bible, which is an update to the Holman Christian Standard Bible that we’ve read from for years. So, let’s dive in, pick up where we left off yesterday. 1 Chronicles chapter 19:20 and 21 today.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word and we are excited and anticipating all that You will speak to us in this new week as we continue to take the steps forward that lead us through the Scriptures. We need Your Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth as we continue forward every day. we need Your Holy Spirit’s comfort and guidance to navigate life. And, so, Father we worship You, and we invite Your Holy Spirit to come into this week and lead us forward. We ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hey DABber’s this is Slave of Jesus from North Carolina. All right, so Holy Spirit let’s roll. So, here I am halfway around the world and I’m asking God, okay, what am I doing here? What am I doing here for you? I know what doing here for my country but today I am walking home after a 13 hour day and I see someone like dragging a whole bunch of packages along in a kids cart and, I’m kinda hey, can I help you with that? And I find out he’s walking to the post office. Now, the post office is like a mile away through a bunch of different stuff. And I’m like, oh, I’ll help you get through that. And I’m like oh I’m cutting through this area that’s where I was actually going. So, I get to the other end and there’s usually cabs out there. It’s an American. And I say, you know what, I feel that I am supposed to pay for you to take a taxi for the rest of the way. And they’re like no, no, no, no, no. But as soon as I come around the corner, there’s no taxis there. And they’re always there. So, I’m like okay God I guess you’ve got another plan. So, I said, well, I’m gonna help you get over the bridge. And, you know, they were kind of saying no, no, no. And this is the way, when the Holy Spirit tells us to do something you just do it. So, he was like, oh, so you’re a Christian. And I said well yeah __ I’m a Christian. Oh what made you change? So we started the conversation and walked in the 95° hot. That’s how it is over there. But they were telling me about their marital problems. And how they’d kind of gotten away from God. And just recently had gotten back in and started doing devotionals and stuff. And I was able to kinda let them talk a little and again __ __ give them a Daily Audio Bible thing. And I told them that would…is how I really got __ with them and even gave them a __. Call this prayer line and get tens of thousands of Christians around the world praying for you. So, __ . __ connected back to God because, you know, a lot of times having family that are very religious can be a downfall. So, love you all. I hope y’all have a great day.

Good morning DABber family. This is Walta, The Burning Bush that will not be Devoured for the Glory of Our God and King. I want to praise God for another year. Celebrated my birthday yesterday or the day before. I forget what day it is. Anyway, I miss you guys. I was just listening to the request today. I am reminded of how important it is to listen to the prayer requests. I confess, this year has been off. It’s been an off year for me. I’ve been listening to the readings and then just before I listen to the requests I’m like at work or I switch over to something else. So, I have been listening to it but how hopeful my heart feels just listening to the voices. I feel like the prayer request line is a huge lifeline. It’s a huge part of this family and I believe I’m probably preaching to the choir if you’re listening to this. But I just also want to encourage you all to please continue to call in. Because you just never know, there’s somebody out there who is looking forward to hearing your voice. You are an inspiration to somebody and you just never know until you stop calling and then we miss you. I love you all. Pastor Gene, love you so much. And Viola, I’m thinking about you too today. I love you all. God bless. Bye.

Hello Daily Audio Bible community family. This is Keisha just calling completely overwhelmed with the love, kindness, and prayer requests that everyone spoke for me. I just wanted to say I love you all and thank you so very much. I’m a couple weeks behind on my Daily Audio Bible podcasts so I’m just now hearing the outpour of response and I am so grateful and I am so humbled. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. God bless you all. Dan, I am praying for you. You said that you and your wife relocated and things did not work out the way you thought they would work out. I can totally, totally, totally relate to that. My husband and I, we went through the same thing last year. But trust God’s plan. Just because it did not work out the way you thought it would that doesn’t mean that that was not God’s will. You know, God has blessed my husband with a phenomenal job. So, just keep trusting him in the place that he called you to. And I’m praying with you and believing that it’s going to work out. And guys, I joined a local gym and a weight loss program. I’m not weighing myself. I’m just focusing on changing my habits. And I’m praying, I’m praying constantly, which is a new thing for me because God has blessed me in ways. And for some reason I thought I did need God to help me in this. I could take care of it. And he’s teaching me and humbling me that I have to seek him at all things.

Hello, good morning Daily Audio Bible. This is Kadian from Missisaugua calling with a praise report and an update. I’d like to thank everyone who prayed for me and my delivery. I had my son on July 5th, that was last week, a week ago. I am asking now for prayers for him. At week 37 in pregnancy my sons heart started skipping beats. Nobody could tell me why his heart was skipping beats. After birth they were hoping it would be gone. After birth it is still here. He’s seeing a pediatric cardiologist who ordered some tests and we have some further testing to do. Praise God, he is healthy. He is healthy apart from his heart skipping beats but you can just imagine that, even though he’s healthy, when his heart skipping beats it just feels like, okay, there’s something missing in the background that we don’t know. We’re asking you to continue to pray for us. He has another follow-up test next week, Friday. And that’s when they’re hoping that this should go away. And if it doesn’t then we are going to have to continue to do further testing. So, please, please pray for us. It’s somewhat of a get difficult time for us. And most definitely, I continue to pray for every single prayer request that comes in. I’m in the background listening. I find Daily Audio Bible to be my comfort during these times when I am home with our little one. So, thank you all so much and have a pleasant day.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Good morning DAB. God bless you all. It’s July 11th and am in a hotel room with my two beautiful daughters that the Lord has gifted me with, 27 and 29. I’ve been listening to the podcast today. For Mary and Scott who have called in __ today I’ve heard it. You referred to your 25-year-old son loss and your dad and now it’s still for your soon to be 27-year-old son with brain cancer. I cannot, I cannot imagine what you’re going through and it brings me to my knees because I’m a mom who loves my kids. There are many of us who love our children. Know that I’m praying for you in the name of Jesus I’m praying for healing for the losses that you’ve already endured. I’m praying for healing of the illness of Joel and we’re binding that in the name of Jesus. We’re believing in God and praying for wisdom in this servant and peace that surpasses all understanding. And know that I’m going to be standing in the gap for you. Every single day, every single day I’m going to be standing in the gap. As I pray for many of you over and over again. I may not call that often but know that I listen every day and I pray alongside you each and every day. This is Esther from Flushing Queens. May God bless you and keep you. May he make His face should be gracious to you. I love you.

Hey family this is Malisa from Abbeville Alabama. Let’s pray. Father, in the name of Jesus, maker and creator of all things. Lord we thank You for all that You’ve done, all that You’re going to do the Lord. Lord, we ask You today to come alongside of Scott. Lord, he lost one son, he lost his daddy, now his other son, Joel, has a brain tumor. Lord, You said if we ask anything in Your name Lord You would do it and were asking You Lord to eradicate this cancer from this Young man. Lord, heal him from the crown of his head to the sole of his feet God. Have mercy on him Lord. Scott’s been through so much Lord. He needs You right now Jesus. Be with his whole family Lord. When he’s leaning and about to fall, hold him up Jesus. Lord, Your word says that You defined yesterday, today, and forever. Lord, if You healed, if You raised up Lazarus four days dead in the grave God You can heal Joel Lord. And Lord, not only Joel Lord, Jillian’s been on my mind Lord with a brain tumor. God I don’t know what state she’s in right now but God I know You’re able to heal her also Lord, so many with cancer, so many sick, so many strung out on drugs. God have mercy. Jesus we love You so much Lord and we’ll be careful to give You all the praise in Jesus name. Amen.

Hello Daily Audio Bible. This is Blue Butterfly from Daytona Beach calling. First I like to give a shout out to Pelham. I’m praying for you still. This is Daniel, thank you for your encouraging words all the time. Blind Tony, I love, love, love all that you do and really appreciate them. But most especially, Terry the truck driver, I pray for you often. My father’s name was Terry and he died because he was an alcoholic most of his life. He’s been gone for 15 years and you have a special place in my heart. He died in my home. My daughter at the time was 12 years old and I remember he was in the hospital a week before he passed away and she gave him a card and when he opened it it said “please Papa don’t die please, please.” And I’ll never forget that. So, I hope that when you’re faced with drugs or alcohol that you just remember that there’s people out there that don’t want you to die even though you will live with the Lord once you do die on this earth. They don’t want you to die now. They need you. So, I pray for you so often. Every time I think of my father I pray for you. I’m asking for prayer request for my granddaughter Emmaline who turned 1 on July 4th, the same day as Jill. She went for her one year checkup…

Hey DAB this is Curtis from Calli. Been a very long time since I’ve called in. I was listening to the prayer line and I wanted to pray for Scott and for his son Joel. I can hear it in your voice at the end of your prayer request you were choking up of over your boy. And you’ve got me choking up. Awe man. So, Scott, know that your boy is in our prayers. Let God for the healing over this young man, put healing over this family that’s been through so much recently, and have faith, have belief that’ll come to fruition Scott. 1 Chronicles 15:1-16:13, Romans 1:18-32 , Psalms 10:1-15, Proverbs 19:6-7

Today is the 13th day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian as has been the case every day for a while now and it’s great to be here with you today for the next step forward in life and in the Scriptures. So, in the Old Testament we are reading through the book 1 Chronicles and the reign of David and in the New Testament, we’ve just begun the first of the letters of Paul, the book of Romans. So, we’re reading from the New International version this week. First Chronicles chapter 15 verse 1 through 16, verse 36.

Commentary:

Okay. So, we’re just getting going in the book of Romans. And as we’ve said several times, this is the first of Paul’s letters. And we’ll be journeying through Paul’s letters for a while now. So, we’ve moved past the greetings and why this letter is being written and Paul’s desire to come to Rome and all of that and he’s kind of launched into what he has to say today. And he’s not speaking to the Romans, in particular in what he’s saying. He’s speaking about all of humanity in what he’s saying today. He’s kind of starting at the beginning. And if you go back and read the passage today that we just read, you know, like if you had to boil it all down, distill it all down to what is being said here, it is that humanity has no excuse for not knowing God. God has always been a part of the story and He created the world we live in and He created our species of humanity. So, all you have to do is look around to know there’s a God. Like, it’s everywhere. The evidence of God is everywhere you look, but essentially what Paul is saying is, but humanity has forgotten who it is. And just let me quote Paul, “for although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal human beings and birds and animals and reptiles.” So, Paul’s starting at the beginning of our story and saying, effectively, here is how things became the way that they are. People abandoned who God was and then they forgot who they were. And then according to Paul, and I’m quoting again, “God gave them over”, which is essentially saying, God let them go the way that they were choosing to go. And where they went, according to Paul, and quoting Paul, is that “they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator who is forever praised.” Amen. So, now that we know Paul is doing, sort of starting at the beginning of the story and going all the way through the story explaining why things are the way that they are and what can be done about it, we get some understanding about the territory that we’re walking into. And some of the territory that we’re walking into is so good that it’s too good to be true. And one of the things that we will get out of the book of Romans and out of the letters of Paul is, if all of this is really available to me why am I living less than this. And we should keep that in mind, because it’s a question we should ask ourselves often as we consider the implications of what Paul will tell us over time. But we’re just getting going and Paul is starting at the beginning of the story and working his way forward.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for that. We thank You for the book of Romans. We thank You for the opportunity to start at the beginning and work our way forward and find ourselves in all of this. And we certainly invite Your Holy Spirit at every step of the way to show us the ways in which we are living less than You have called us to live, the ways in which we are settling for things that we don’t even want anyway when such a glorious adventure is what we are invited into. Come Holy Spirit, we pray. Plant the words deep into our hearts. Cultivate the fruit of the Spirit within us. We ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hello everybody. Hey, this is Annette from Oklahoma City. SarahJane, you are the woman. Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is God ordained. Thank you in so many ways I couldn’t even list. Hey everybody, I, because of the nature of my job and the things that I’ve been involved in lately, some things went wrong, I had nothing to do with it but unfortunately I got caught up in it. I didn’t do anything wrong. Thank you. But I had to go in front of, kind of like I board, and I hate to call it testifying because it wasn’t that formal but it was really scary and I kind of knew that was going to come but I didn’t know is that it was going to come today and Candace from Oregon, my sister, I’m a little bit behind on Saturdays community prayer and today is the 10th which is my DAB birthday. Woo hoo. So, anyways, but Candace, when I walked into the meeting, I heard your song, [singing], no, never alone, Annette you’re never alone [singing ends]. Hey, I just wanted to thank you and that really touched me and obviously it was timely. But I just wanted to thank you guys and keeping me in prayer and hopefully this all will just get straightened out and everything is okay. I’m fine. It’s no big deal. Just the companies trying to be pushy and things are…they’re just trying to avoid the system. That’s all it is. So, I love you. I will see you in Tennessee. Woo hoo. I can’t wait. Have a great day. Bye-bye.

Hi there. My name is Melissa and I’ve been listening to the Daily Audio Bible since the beginning of the year. My husband Anthony and I are in need of direction from the Lord regarding where we should move our family and I was wondering if you guys could all pray for us. I’ve really appreciate the show and just moving forward in God’s word has truly been refreshing for me. We have three small children and it’s been a huge gift to me as I listen to it when I’m driving in the car. And, thank you Ali. I am so grateful for your prayer. Bye.

Father God, thank You so much for where You have placed us. Thank You for our homes and our villages, towns, and cities that we live in. Thank You for our workplace, Lord. Thank You for the place we volunteer at. Thank You for that community group we go along too. Thank You for our church. Lord, I want to lift up our workplaces, especially to You and pray a blessing on those places. Lord, these are our places where we’ve got the opportunity to shine and to be Jesus to people who don’t know You and who probably won’t come across or probably won’t walk into a church. Lord, help us be salt and light, help us be love, and please Lord, keep a strong especially as we face opposition and come up against the enemy and just the hate that is around. Help us be above that Lord. Lord, we also lift up our bosses and the boards of trustees, the boards of directors, and the council boards, that You’d be giving them wisdom on how best to bless the workplace on what decisions they need to make. If there’s any cuts that need to happen Lord, that they would do that the Right Way. Lord, in this time of uncertainty when many workplaces have…are going through cuts…budget cuts and things like that Lord, I pray that You’d be a comfort to the employees. Lord, thank You for our brothers and sisters in that situation. And I pray Lord, that You would be a comfort to them in that. In this time of uncertainty, I pray that You’d be our strength and our security and __. In Jesus’ Holy and precious name. Amen. Good morning guys. This is Michaela from Gloucester in the UK also known as Beloved by Him. Hope you have good and blessed day wherever you are.

Good morning family. This is Cherry Chase. I was going to say Cherry Pie but we’ve got another Cherry Pie on the line now. So, I’m just going to stay with Cherry Chase. 1 Chronicles 12:19-14:17, Romans 1:1-17 , Psalms 9:13-20, Proverbs 19:4-5

Today is the 12th day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is wonderful to be here with you today as we take the next step forward in our journey through the Scriptures. And the journey, when we get to the New Testament, will bring us into a new book. We finished the book of Acts yesterday. But before we get there, 1 Chronicles chapter 12 verse 19 to 14 verse 17.

Introduction to the book of Romans:

Okay. So, we finished the book of Acts yesterday, which brings us to the book of Romans, which is the first letter of the apostle Paul that appears in the New Testament. And most biblical scholars would say this is Paul’s crowning jewel. This is his greatest work in outlining in written form what he had been traveling around preaching - the good news of the gospel. And one of the things that we have to understand about the letters of Paul is that they were written before the Gospels were written and before the book of Acts was written, obviously not before the things written in the Gospels in the book of acts happened but before they were written down. So, Paul’s traveling around evangelizing, preaching the good news of Jesus. So he’s educated and he’s literate and he writes letters back to the churches that have been formed to further instruct them because there was no New Testament for them to refer to. And these letters were treasured by the churches and copied and passed around to the other churches. So, the letters of the apostle Paul are some of the earliest Christian writings that we have. So, Paul probably wrote this letter to the Romans from the city of Corinth, where some of his greatest missionary work and been accomplished. And it’s probably written in the mid-50s. And when Paul finished this letter he sent Phoebe, probably from the church in Contraya, which is just outside of Corinth to hand deliver the letter and make an introduction to the apostle Paul. Of course, Paul was a Roman citizen and he had a passion for his people. We’ve been learning about the apostle Paul in the book of Acts. He couldn’t wait to visit Rome but he had other business to attend to before he could go there, the first thing being a trip to Jerusalem where, unfortunately, his plans took a turn and he was arrested and kept in captivity for several years. And Paul does make his way to Rome as we know from the book of Acts. Like, we just went through this great shipwreck, getting him to Rome, but he makes his first trip to Rome as a prisoner. And the church in Rome was implanted by Paul. And we don’t actually know who brought the gospel of Jesus to Rome, but if we’re going to speculate, it was probably someone or a group of people who were in the upper room maybe, or around the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, who likely carried the gospel back to Rome and established the church there. But of course that’s speculation. The central theme that we’ll find in the book of Romans is righteousness, our need for righteousness, the righteousness that the work of Christ offers us and our obligation to live into that righteousness, to be transformed, that our nature is actually changed so that we can live as righteous people. And the book shows who God is, the work of Jesus, and it shines a mirror in our faces and shows us who we are without Christ. No matter how good we think we are, no matter how benevolent we’ve been, no matter how loving we think we are, without Jesus it’s all filthy rags. So, let’s enjoy our time in the book of Romans. It’s one of the greatest doctrinal works we have in all of Christianity. So, let’s drink deep from one of the earliest documents we have in the faith. Romans chapter 1 verse 1 through 17.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. And as we turn the page in the New Testament and move, not into a new era, but into some new territory where we will be working our way through the letters of the apostle Paul, we invite Your Holy Spirit. We invite Your Holy Spirit to give us context, to give us history, to give us wisdom, and to apply all of these things into our lives and into our faith that we might grow, that we might mature, and that we might be become fully grown, mature people, Your people on this earth representing You, and announcing the renewal of all things. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hello Daily Audio Bible family. This is Standing Firm. I have not called in in a while and frankly I have not been Standing Firm. I’ve been living in the Greenville South Carolina area and I’m going to pray and ask for forgiveness and pray for all of you. Dear Father, I thank You so much for Your kindness, Your mercy and Your grace. And Lord You know everything that’s going on in my life - depression and loneliness. Thank You just for the times that I just fail and fall and ask You to forgive me for that and not just __ You but for the strength that You provide, a strength that You can always give and that the cross is right there for my taking and You have given back to us freely. Lord, I thank You for the cross Lord. I thank You for forgiveness. I thank You for being the one and only way to heaven and there is no other God. You are all there is. Father, I thank You for all these friends that one day I will see, which will be a glorious reunion. Thank You so much. I pray for all those out there struggling with depression and loneliness. Just keep Your head up. Look to the cross. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Hello Daily Audio Bible family. This is One Out of the Shell from Central Florida. And I have a couple of requests and I want to agree in prayer for some of our family members that have called in. First, my brother has a child, two girls and he lives in Nevada and he’s trying to get custody of his two-year-old daughter because the mother is having a lot of serious mental challenges right now and it’s come to the point of being dangerous for my little niece. So, please lift up that situation in agreement with me that she’ll be able to be with her father and her brother in a safe environment. Pray for him as well please. They’re are going to court this week, I believe it’s within the week if not this week. The other situation I’m asking prepare for is, my daughter called that in about a week or so ago. Her name is Danielle. I’ve seen some progress. We have a whole lot more to go…so. And then finally, we have a business opportunity that looks very promising that we believe the Lord brought to us that I really know in my heart there some things that my husband and I need to address and I need the Lord to really confirm this to me because it means quitting my regular full-time job. So, be in agreement with me about that please. Cherry Pie, I hear you honey and I want to pray for you right now along with all of the single bonds. Been there done that. Father God, we just thank You for this dear sweet sister and all the other sisters and brothers that are going through the same thing. Bring them peace, wisdom, guidance…

Hi Daily Audio Bible family. This is Adam in Chiga Heights Ohio. I’ve been listening for a long time and actually have never called then a prayer request but I have an important prayer request for my sister-in-law’s son, so my nephew in Stockholm Sweden. He has water on his brain. His head is…he’s eight months old…and his head has been growing. And the doctors really haven’t been doing much over there in Sweden. And, so, we’ve been a little bit frustrated. And, so, finally he had an MRI, took an MRI. They’re going to find out the results of it. But they said last week when they took the MRI if its just normal water on the brain we are going to do surgery in August / September. But if it’s something severe like a tumor or potential cancer we’re going to do surgery right away. Now, they called in today and said they’re going to do surgery right away. So, naturally they’re extremely worried, extremely scared. They are not…not…my brother-in-law’s not a Christian, but God’s been really working on his heart. So, pray for him. He’s really prayerful but I know God’s going to do a miracle here. And his name is William. He’s eight months old and if you could really pray that God would…my prayer is that he would live and not die and proclaim God’s good works. If you could join with me in prayer for William, I’d really appreciate that. Thank you. Bye.

Hey Brian. It’s Jeff from Syracuse calling. It’s been a couple of months since I touched base with you. Going through some tough times. My wife who I called in about in the past, she did go home to be with Jesus, 55 years old. Just a wonderful creature that loved God with her whole heart. Horrible, horrible ovarian cancer. Hard but God knows what He’s doing. Very difficult being alone. Being in this world without your help mate that you basically lived your entire life around and were looking to tend to the golden years together and see things and do things together. But Brian, I’m so glad for your program because, quite frankly, you put us in touch with the heart of God and there is nothing that is going to provide that intimacy with our Creator, especially during time of horrible grief like this, then being with Jesus Christ at the essence of that. And I just love your program Brian because you emphasize, you emphasize caring that comes from Jesus, the love that emanates, the godly love that emanates from him. And it’s just so refreshing to come in to hear that when you’ve been out in the world where there really isn’t any love. There’s just faults, idols, and distractions, and everything else. That Satan’s game. But Brian, you’ve got us into God’s game which is, I love you my children, I want you. Come back to me I’m your good Shepherd. Thanks so much Brian. I love it when you say at the end, I’m Brian and I love you. And it just means so much to me. God bless you. Bye-bye

1 Chronicles 11:1-12:18, Acts 28:1-31, Psalms 9:1-12, Proverbs 19:1-3

Today is the 11th day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It’s a pleasure and an honor to be here with you today and every day. And I’m excited to see where the Bible leads us today as we take the next step. We’re reading from the New International Version this week. 1 Chronicles 11:1- 12:18 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, Paul’s shipwreck turned out to be on the island of Malta. And they were way off course. Had they missed the island of Malta and survived, had the ship held together, then the next place that they could have hit would have been on the continent of Africa. So, this shipwreck’s on the island of Malta about seven hundred miles south of Rome. And to this very day, Paul is revered as the person who brought the good news to the island of Malta.

I remember back, I don’t remember how many years but many years ago, we had a brother on the island of Malta who was a Daily Audio Bible listener every day, would call in often, sent me a book on Malta. Fascinating, fascinating, beautiful place. We’re seeing a fascinating, really interesting thing happen in Paul’s ministry because when he first began to travel around and he did a lot of traveling and establishing churches everywhere, he was free. And then he went into captivity. He was arrested and under guard. And he’s able to speak freely the gospel to very, very powerful and influential people from that time forward. And then we have the serendipity of a shipwreck that brings the gospel to a completely different place than Paul had ever been before. And we just read the story, right? Paul’s gathering firewood, they’re building a fire to dry off, warm up, get out of the ocean. And this snake bites Paul and he throws it into the fire and everybody’s expecting him to die because this is a ship with prisoners on board. But when Paul doesn’t die then they think he’s a god. This has happened to Paul before. And it’s amazing what the anointing, the presence of God, in any situation will do to change hearts and minds, which is what we saw happening on Malta. And then they sailed away. And Paul eventually made it to Rome. And we’ll pick up that story as we continue forward.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for the examples of people like the Apostle Paul that demonstrate for us what it looks like to be completely abandoned to the mission that You’ve called them to. Father, we know that You have purpose for each one of us. It may look very different and does look very different than that of the Apostle Paul, but the posture of heart that is demonstrated is something that we all seek. So, come Holy Spirit. Let us spend this day in awe of You, knowing we are in Your hands and that You are aware of us and that You are leading and guiding us by the power of Your Holy Spirit. And that You will send us into situations that You need us to go into. Come, Holy Spirit, we pray. In Jesus name we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Good morning Daily Audio Bible family. To Be A Blessing in California. I’m requesting prayer for my work situation. It’s changing significantly and there are a lot of details that are not known. I ask that you would pray for wisdom, knowledge, and understanding on my behalf as well as working with people that I don’t know in a situation where I’ve been working for quite some time. I’ll just be moving into a new department. Also asking that you would pray for me as I am learning how to live life now that I have lost my mother. I was living with her and life is changed and now I have to figure out, have God tell me what I need to do in terms of making a new life without her. My brain is foggy, I’m scattered, I’m just in the midst of great sorrow and grief. And, so, this change with work in addition to the change without having mom is pretty big. I’m praying for jubilant perseverance. I’m praying for the woman whose son was just killed and her other son is facing cancer. I pray for all of you as it comes through. Thank you for praying for me. God bless you. Bye-bye.

My name is Scott. I’m calling from North Carolina. I’m calling for prayer for my son Joel. We’ve had a very difficult season. I lost a 25-year-old son in a car wreck and shortly after that I lost my father to dementia. Very shortly after that my son Joel had emergency brain surgery because of a tumor wrapped around his brain stem. It was his eighth surgery. Unfortunately, things have not gone well. They’ve not given him very long to live. We are trying radical new surgeries right now. Radiation is probably going to be the only option. Joel is going to be 17 on his next birthday in August and I’m just asking for you to pray for the life of my son.

Hello, this is Beautiful Soul from North Carolina. I called earlier and the call got disconnected but I wanted to say that I call myself Beautiful Soul because in 1 Peter 3 verse 3 and 4 where he speaks about not living the outward appearance but God is in love with your soul. I called in because I wanted to give a little tip to some of you who are having a hard time concentrating on the Scriptures as Brian reads through the genealogy. Sometimes that gets to be a little bit tedious when you’re naming all of the descendant’s and you want to kind of just skip over it, but I found that if I repeat every name that Brian repeats it becomes fun. And because their unusual names sometimes if you try to read them on your own in Scripture, they’re hard to translate or hard to pronounce. But it’s fun when Brian pronounces the names and you say the names afterwards. And before you know it you’ve gone through that entire Scripture as he’s read through it. And, so, you know, I thought I would give that little tidbit to those who are struggling through it to not skip through it, that if you just repeat the names after Brian it becomes fun and it ends up being something that will stay on your Spirit. And I want to continue to pray for my Daily Audio Bible family and Brian. And God’s going to keep on blessing us. And have a fantastic summer. God bless.

Hi, this is Valerie calling from south of Atlanta. I just heard Mary from the UK call about her friends son, the one that just passed away and the one that is recently diagnosed with cancer and was just giving a few leaks to live. Mary, my heart breaks for this family. I have a 25-year-old son. I also have a 27-year-old son. And I just could not imagine what this mother must be going through at this moment. So, please know that I am praying for her. I am praying that she feels the comfort of God surrounding her. I pray that she has a strong support system to get her through this. Thank you so much for reaching out to us and telling us about her story so that we can surround her in prayer and uplift her and her family during this difficult time. I can only imagine the questions she must have and the sense of hopelessness and I just pray that she is able to draw on her faith and that she is able to rely on the Lord and that He’s sovereign and that He has everything in control and there’s a reason, even when we can’t understand it. But please just know Mary, that my heart hurts for her and I am praying for her and please keep us updated on any updates on her son that is fighting cancer and how we can continue to pray. And also I just want to also uplift Vince. I’m glad that he’s doing so well. And today is the 9th. And, so, tomorrow is when they’re turning on the devices and I will be praying for him and that everything goes well. Thank you guys. You all have a blessed day. Bye-bye.

1 Chronicles 9:1-10:14, Acts 27:21-44, Psalms 8:1-9, Proverbs 18:23-24

Today is the 10th day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It’s great to be here with you today. It’s full-blown summer here in the rolling hills of Tennessee and that means hot and humid, but it also means lush and alive and the rolling hills are green and beautiful. So, I trust that it’s a lovely day wherever you might be in the world, even if you’re bundling up and going out into the winter weather because you’re in the southern hemisphere. Whether it’s for warmth or just a light in the dark, the global campfire is always happening, it’s always burning. And we can always come, every day into community with each other and take the next step forward as we continue to move through the Scriptures. So, this week we are reading from the New International Version. And we’ll read 1 Chronicles 9 and 10 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, in the book of 1 Chronicles, we are almost out the other side of the genealogy portion of this book and we’ll be moving into… we’ll re-examine David’s reign and Solomon’s reign as we continue to move forward.

Then in the book of Acts, we should be exhausted. We’ve just been through shipwreck. The Apostle Paul had appealed his case to the emperor himself as a Roman citizen and sailed from Caesarea Maritima and was on his way to Rome when this storm popped up and it was such a powerful storm to be caught in that they just had to go with it and see how far they could get. So, they have no idea where they are. They haven’t been able to look at the stars, they don’t know where they are. They just know that there’s some ground. And when the morning came they found ground, they found land. And they aimed the ship toward the land but they don’t know where they are. And tomorrow we’ll find out where they are. And when we do, we’ll see just how far off course they were. And how miraculous it was that they survived.

Prayer:

Father we thank You for another day in Your word. We thank You for the stories and the lives that we get to know, the choices and decisions that they made and where all of those roads led. And how deeply You desire to be involved. And so we invite You, Holy Spirit. Certainly we open ourselves to You completely - minds, heart, will, body, spirit - to You. We not only want You to be involved, we need You to be involved. We’re desperate for You to be involved. So, come Holy Spirit and lead us into all truth, we ask. In Jesus name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hello everybody. This is Cherry Pie from the Tulsa Oklahoma area and today is July 7th and I am so looking forward to my date day with God today as we all journey together on our prayer walk here. I had a dream I was dreaming on May the 7th, which I feel like I need to share on this day specifically. It was a dream about a man I know in real life that has relentlessly asked me to marry him over and over for many years now and at the end of my journaling this dream God did what he usually does, five times He had me rewrite it as if He were speaking to me and us as the body of Christ. And I call it the invitation. And it goes like this. My beloved, I am presenting you with an invitation. I made it myself just for you. It’s outward appearance is magical, stunning, dazzling, fantastical and helps to draw you in to a life I want to give you. Inside of the request to be married, not just today but again and again and again for the rest of our lives. I am full of awe and joy knowing every day with you will be like a wedding day. I will never hold you close enough. And, so, after journaling this I played the make 3rd podcast where Brian was speaking about the man going to the well every day and doing our part for healing and one of the things he said was, and I quote, do we really want to be well, mind, heart, spirit, body. Because that means to truly be well we have to surrender and be reunited with You which is the invitation of the gospel. And that’s definitely going to change some things, close quote on that. I feel this is a confirmation of God presenting us with an invitation to be reunited with Him every day and every day is special and magical. So, on this walk today one of the things are going to be praying is that we have a prophetic vision of wholeness and what getting well looks like over us and so we can actually see it and touch it and live it.

Hi. This is Stephen from Alabama. And today is July the 8th and I went on my long walk today. I got 2 miles in and I actually I wanted to encourage all of you too. This is a great thing. I started doing it as Brian suggested a few years ago. But I’d like to encourage all of you to keep us walking up. There was a study done and they showed that people who walk just 25 minutes a day can extend their life as much us in heaven years. So, what I do is I listen to the Daily Audio Bible and I read along. This is my morning habit. And then I will journal my thoughts and journal what I feel like God spoke to me. And when I finish that I’ll maybe offer a prayer or two at that point. After that I’ll put my shoes on and I’ll grab my, they’re called laki poles. And I do Nordic walking. You can look that up. It actually helps you burn more calories. It gives you more of an upper body workout as well. And I will then, so I pause Daily Audio Bible when I journal. And then when I go on my walk I will pick it back up and listen to the prayers and I’ll do a prayer walk and pray and speak life over many of you. And I am doing that like so many other people are kind of doing that currently. So, I hope that maybe is a blessing for you and an encouragement to keep walking. Just keep this habit up. It’s a beautiful, beautiful time with God and it does so much for your mind, your body, and your spirit. God bless. Love you

Viv from Canada. Oh Viv from Canada, where are you? You were a regular caller throughout the beginning of the year on the Daily Audio Bible and DAB __ and it’s been a while since we’ve heard from you and I am hoping everything is okay. I mean, we really miss you. We miss your wisdom and your beautiful singing voice and your beautiful accent. We really miss you and really…I pray…I remember the last thing you called on the DAB prayer for a friend or a family member and we just haven’t really heard a lot from you since. So, you’ve just been on my mind. And also, another sister from British Columbia, I was actually think about you today. And Sherry, actually, when I was listening to the community prayer on May here and as soon as I thought about you, your beautiful song, Jesus, just forgive me my voice is not pretty. But I was singing it as loud as I possibly could in my car. I was so thrilled to hear from you and just know that, yes, I will be praying for you and your job because we spend a third of our lives on our jobs and there’s no way that a sister of Christ should be miserable on her job. So, God bless you. Sean316.

I am a stranger in a foreign land. I dream of my home in the heavenly realm. I’ve never been there but that is where I am going and where I want to be. I get homesick often. I long for the day I will forever be in God’s presence. My only comfort is His Spirit living within me. I’m talking and singing about our awesome God and where we are going. I can only imagine what it will be like to see my Savior face-to-face, to eat has table, and to talk and sing with all of my brothers and sisters. My vision is clouded by the things of this world. My ears are full of the promises amounted of this world. Look after number one. ___. You only live once. To be successful is to own a fast car, live in a big house, and have the latest gadgets. I started to talk like this world and desire the things of this world but then I remember, it is better to be a beggar on the street and know You then live in a big house with a big TV. It is better to work with honesty and ___ then to be a high flyer with a really fast car. It is better to be a servant of the most high God than to be a millionaire in this world. You are our strength Lord. As we walk through trials and hardships you rain down grace and mercy on us. Our lives flow with your love. You hear me night and day. There is never a time You don’t listen. I open my eyes to see Your answers, open my ears to hear your voice. You shine Your love and glory down on us. You protect us by Your Spirit. Our trust is solid in You. Thank You.

1 Chronicles 7:1-8:40, Acts 27:1-20, Psalms 7:1-17, Proverbs 18:22

Today is the 9th day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It’s great to be here with you today and everyday as we continue to take steps forward into and deeper into our relationship with the Scriptures. So,, this week we’ve been reading from the New International Version. Today we’ll pick up where we left off yesterday, which is our custom. It has always been our custom. 1 Chronicles 7 and 8 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, in the book of Acts, we’ve left the Apostle Paul on a ship where everyone is in a hurricane, being swept forward and they’ve lost all hope of survival. And the Apostle Paul had warned before they ever set sail this was going to happen. So, now this is happening, but we’ll have to wait till tomorrow to find out what happened.

Then in the book of Psalms, we have something that we should consider. Actually, the imagery is so vivid that we should consider this today. Whoever is pregnant with evil, right? So, whoever is growing evil inside of them conceives trouble and gives birth to disillusionment. Of course, disillusionment is when you are after something that it looks like the best thing ever and then you get this thing and it’s not, right? It’s not what you thought it was going to be. So, when you allow evil to grow within you, it is going to grow into trouble and you will birth disillusionment.

Prayer:

Father we invite You into that because we’ve all experienced disillusionment. We’ve all chased after something that was gonna be the best thing until we got it and it wasn’t. We’re chasing gold and found out it was plastic with spray paint and it wasn’t at all what was promised. We have experience this in many ways and when we experience this spiritually, we can certainly see now that we have become pregnant with evil, that we have allowed evil inside of us and we’ve nourished it and given it life. And it has conceived trouble and it has brought disillusionment. Come Holy Spirit and show us how we’ve done this and how perhaps we may be doing this now. Come, in Jesus name we ask. We repent change our minds about this and move in another direction. Move toward You. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness, we ask, Father. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Good evening Daily Audio Bible. This is Tiny calling in from Cleveland Ohio and I’m just calling it to say hello to everyone and to let you all know that you’re always on my heart, that I’m praying for each and every one of you. I haven’t called in for a while but I definitely get a chance to listen when I hear some of the prayer requests as a go to work and I just want to touch and agree with the prayers that are going up and also just a bit of a praise report and that is that I’ve been practicing trusting God and being very very intentional about trying to stay out of his way, if you will, and allow him to lead and guide me more versus me being emotional, making a bunch of emotional decisions. Of course, it’s a journey and it’s very hard to trust God. I didn’t think having the faith the size of a mustard seed would be this hard because I want to be in control, I want to do everything, I want to answer everything, I want to have a response, I want to be in charge, I want to, you know, just make it happen, versus, you know, sometimes just sitting back and really listening and being in tune with the heart of God. So, it’s no easy feat but God is just showing through the prayer requests that generally I see a lot of answered prayers and I see what he’s teaching me patience and to be kind. We are living in, it’s just a hateful world and there’s just so much going on and I hate what I see, but God is teaching me more and more to be compassionate and to be kind and that is something that I’m grateful for. So, I just want to spread the love as best as I can and pray for each and every one of you. Love you guys dearly. Love you Brian and Jill. Thank you for the platform as always and helping us all stay connected to God through the Daily Audio Bible.

Hi everyone it’s Karen in St. Louis. Here I am picking a fit well I’m doing my long walk. I just heard Cherry Pies prayer request. And also I heard Victoria’s earlier. I too had a week where just unmercifully Satan was just going after me. And I don’t know if it was __ if it was Satan, but I do believe that we are in a spiritual battle and he does want to take out anyone that is furthering the mission of the gospel. I think of Paul and all the things that he went through, all the disciples. And, so, gosh, this walk has been great for me and on the way here I think I heard that Hillsong song, Who I am in Him, and gosh, I needed to hear that. And I know it was just one thing after another every single day. There were nights that I where I literally thought I was losing my mind. That’s how furious beyond __ as the spiritual attack was on me this week. One day in particular I had texted a friend about my dogs surgery, which was about a month ago and why I paid $1300 to have 100 bladder stones removed my 11 year old dog. And that night I had even told my hairdresser about how great my dog was doing and that night I came home and my dog had lost bladder control all over the living room. And it was just like, I knew right then and there that Satan was at work. And, so, I just pray for all of us who are in the battle, that we would stand firm, that we put that helmet of salvation on, that we would not believe the lies of Satan, that we would have that breastplate of righteousness, that we would stand firm against the schemes of Satan, that we would use that sword of the spirit, that we would keep that belt of truth and I thank Brian…

All is well. I am Daniel. Father, thank you for Your mercy today. Father, thank you for this day and all you have given my family in Christ here in the Daily Audio Bible global campfire. Thank you for the strength wisdom and understanding you give this new day to Brian and to all of your children. Father, thank you that the forces that are for us are far greater than the forces against us. I pray for my family and with my family today. Thank you Father for the overflowing joy you give that bubbles up inside like a spring listening to your children give you praise. Thank You Father that my family in Christ is one with you like Christ as children of God. Thank you father for this day of praise I can listen and __ in all according to your perfect will not my will. Thank you father for your faith this day in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Hello Daily Audio Bible. This is Viola from Maryland. I hope you’re all doing well. Brian, bless you. What a nice long walk we all had today. Woo hoo. Oh, Paul, my brother, I heard your prayer request. I am praying that the God who made you with a purpose will open your eyes to see the purpose for which you were made. Father, I am praying against that depression. Every lie the enemy in your life, I bind them in the name of Jesus. Father Lord, I pray that you would touch your son oh God Lord, that You would hold him oh God, that you would give him hope oh Lord God that you would give him a reason for living in the name of Jesus. I pray that this depression would lift from his life in the name of Jesus. Brother Gregory, I think is your name, I am praying for you for your mom asking that God would touch her, God will strengthen her body. There’s nothing that God cannot do. Age does not limit God. I’m praying that God will touch her body and heal her and strengthen her in the name of Jesus and am also praying about your job situation, that God will give you wisdom, that God will give you favor as a teacher in the name of Jesus. God bless you my brother. Pastor’s wife I am praying for you my sister. I am praying that God who has a heart for prodigal children will bring your daughter who is in the military back to him. That the Holy Spirit of God will pursue her relentlessly in the name of Jesus. When she turns right, left, back, looks front she will see God. Sister, by the time the Holy Spirit is done with your daughter she will be the __ person to you. I declare that in the name of Jesus. And I am praying for your son. I’m praying that God will restore his marriage. God is the restorer. He will touch his marriage and heal that marriage in the name of Jesus. Lastly, Victoria from Arizona, you know God has a heart for __. That’s is true religion and that is what he told us of the word of God. First of all I pray that God will comfort you in the loss of your husband. I pray oh God that God will touch you, that God will wrap his arms around you and then that God will give you, wisdom everything that you’re asking for, that God will do it for you before you call…

1 Chronicles 5:18-6:81, Acts 26:1-32, Psalms 6:1-10, Proverbs 18:20-21

Today is the 8th day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It’s great to be here with you today as we cross the threshold and step into a brand-new week. We had a great long walk all over the world yesterday and those pictures continue to come in on the Facebook page, which is beautiful to see. We can talk about that in a little bit. Let’s dive in by taking the next step forward and the first step of this new week. We’ll read from the new international version this week. 1 Chronicles chapter 5 verse 18 through 6 verse 81.

Prayer:

Father, we thank you for your word. We thank you for your faithfulness to us through your word, your faithfulness to us through the power of your Holy Spirit and your overwhelming love sustaining us as we move into this new week. We thank you. We love you Father and we take to heart everything that we’re learning. We’re watching your Holy Spirit continue to give Paul influence where he should otherwise not have its and you’re telling us in the book of Proverbs that’s our tongue has the power of life and death. And, so, we invite you into that today as we contemplate it, that what we say today can be life-giving, but can also be life taking. Come Holy Spirit we pray in Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.

Man, we had a great long walk yesterday. Some of you are doing your walk today and the pictures, they keep coming in it at the Facebook page, which is Facebook.com/dailyaudiobible. So, if you hadn’t had a chance to scroll through that, you might want to. It’s a great way to get a sense of community and just windows into each other’s lives. And those continue to come in. I enjoy it every year. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one out there walking. It was hot. What a beautiful day though. So, another Daily Audio Bible long walk in the books. We’ve done 11 of those, 11 years if I’m counting right. So, it’s a great little tradition that we have in the center of the year to reset. And, so, now that we are all reset and looking toward the back half of the year, starting this brand-new week, we can live into this continue this dialogue, this conversational intimacy that we are allowed to have with God, and the intimacy of hearing His responses, seeing his leadership in our lives, feeling the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This is all ours. We are children of the most high. So, it’s always available and we realize how much we ignore it once we’ve given ourselves over to it in something like the long walk, once we’ve experienced it. So, let’s walk into this second half of the year pursuing intimacy with God in all that we do all that we say.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible you can do that at dailyaudiobible.com. There’s a link. It’s on the homepage. Thank you, thank you for your partnership as we move through these summer months. If you’re using the Daily Audio Bible app, you can press the Give button in the upper right-hand corner or, if you prefer, the mailing address is PO Box 1996 Spring Hill Tennessee 37174.

And that’s it for today. I’m Brian I love you and I’ll be waiting for here tomorrow.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi family. This is Jeanette from Charlotte. I have called in twice before to ask for prayer for my husband Vince. He has been having surgery to relieve and alleviate symptoms for Parkinson’s disease. Well, Vince has completed all three surgeries to put the equipment in place and is doing very well during the healing process. He has had some pain but it has been minimal. And they haven’t actually turned the system on yet but he is experiencing what they call a honeymoon period, which the doctor says happens sometimes just by having the electrodes placed in the brain. So, he has experienced great relief from his symptoms. Praise God. As his body heals and before they turn the system on, some symptoms may return. For instance, he has had trouble sleeping for a few nights and this was a symptom that in the past has really given him a lot of trouble. I know a lot of you know it’s just so awful to be exhausted and not be able to sleep and that is something that he has really struggled with. So, anyway on July 10th the system will be turned on and we will find out how it works for him. So, would you all please pray that the outcome will be so successful that the doctors would just be amazed and that it would be just a far-reaching success that lasts for a long. This experience has been a real prayer odyssey for Vince and me. We want to thank all of you so very much for your prayers. We believe in the power of prayer and we have felt covered by your prayers even though we’ve had a lot of ups and downs this past month. I want to give special thanks to Janelle Holliday, Victoria Soldier, Karen in St. Louis, Kim from Eastern Kentucky, Diane from Indiana, and all of you who have been praying with us and for us. Know that we are praying for you too every day as you call in your prayer requests. Brian and Jill, thanks for making these connections possible. We love you all.

Good morning DAB, oh, well, it’s morning here. Anyway, this is Emily from the Houston area and I’ve be meaning to call for a couple of weeks. I was just thinking, who it is that the DAB format precludes all racism and how neat it is that people call from all over. We don’t know what color they are or ethnic background, but maybe the Brits and the Australians, but even then we don’t know what they look like and that we’re all one family. And isn’t that amazing. And I thought well that’s kind of a dumb reason to call. And then right after I thought that the woman called to pray for Keisha and said that she had also experienced racism in the workplace. And it really broke my heart because that’s not what we are about. And, you know, as we’re listening to Acts and Brian’s been talking about how one of the greatest miracles of the church is the inclusion of all of us, different nations, through faith in Jesus Christ, it just made me think even more, how wonderful it is that we are a family. And, so, my prayer for all of us is that today, that the DAB family would show people that the love…what reconciliation truly is, that is family through Jesus Christ, the risen Lord, the Middle Eastern Jewish guy. And, so, I bless you and I pray for you sister and I pray for all of us, anyone who has experienced discrimination, that you experience family through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Family, it’s redeemed in him from Virginia and I wanted to reach out to Jim from Tennessee, whose prayer request was heard on July 2nd. And Jim, I just wanted you to know that we are grieving with you and your family over the loss of your son, Tanner. And we pray that you’ll keep calling so that we can get to know you. Family, please join me in praying for Jim and his family in remembrance of Tanner. Dear God, in Jesus’ name we pray that You will surround Jim and his family and friends with Your love and precious memories of Tanner. And we know that You bottle up every tear that falls. Thank You God that we will be reunited with our loved ones, but until then we will keep Tanner and our other loved ones close to our hearts knowing that You are in complete control. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Hi family. This is Mary from the UK. Family, I’d like you to pray for a colleague of mine. About two weeks ago she found out that her 25-year-old son had a tumor, a cancer in his shoulder. He came back to the UK for tests and very sadly they found that it spread and he is going to die within the next few weeks to months. This lady only has two sons and yesterday her other son was killed while climbing in our lake district. Family, it’s impossible to understand how this happened but please uphold her and her husband and her living child, however long he’s got, in prayer. Thank you family. God will be with him throughout. It’s really hard to understand why such difficult, difficult things happen. Bless you and thank you.

1 Chronicles 4:5-5:17, Acts 25:1-17, Psalms 5:1-12, Proverbs 18:19

Today is the 7th day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is awesome, it’s wonderful to be here with you today. Today is the Daily Audio Bible Long Walk, so hello to all of you long walkers. I imagine that a few of you are listening to the Daily Audio Bible as you walk. It’s good to be here with you on your long walk. And if you’re doing it later or you’ve already done it, looking forward to that. To just look (in on) all that. We’ll talk about all this in a little bit because we have more important things to do. And the most important thing we can do here right now is to center ourselves in the Scriptures and take the next step forward. So we’ve been reading from The Voice translation this week. Of course, today is the end of a week, so we’ll read from something else beginning tomorrow. But we’ll pick up where we left off. 1 Chronicles 4:5-5:17 today.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for another week that we’ve been able to spend in Your word. We thank You for this new month. We thank You for bringing us here to the center of the year. So, Father, we commit ourselves to You, to finishing strong, to going through the second half of this year with more intention and awareness than we’ve ever had in our lives because Your word continues to orient us to You. Father, today is a special day in this community and a tradition that we have around here to go for a long walk. And so many of us are doing that. Come, Holy Spirit, as we open ourselves to You and share our hearts with You. We want to hear Your heart. Father, we realize that taking this kind of time and being able to talk like this, well this is just gonna make us hunger and thirst for it more and more. And You’ll bring up things, things that we need to let go of, things that we need to forgive, things that we need to ask forgiveness for, changes of directions. All things that our lives contain You want to be involved in so we invite You into all of it. Come Holy Spirit. Lead us into all truth. That’s what we want is to walk in the light of truth on the narrow path that leads to life. And so we are centering ourselves in You and orienting ourselves to You and inviting Your Holy Spirit to lead us forward. Come Jesus, we pray. In Your mighty name we ask. Amen.

Of course, today is the Daily Audio Bible Long Walk. We’ve been talking about this for a couple weeks. And so many of us are doing that. Many of you are listening while you’re doing that. Maybe some of you are like, I wasn’t gonna do it, but now I am and you go for a walk around the block. That’s fine. But just go for a walk with God. Find some time, somewhere beautiful today. Spend some time centering yourself and re-centering yourself as we move into the second half of the year. And what makes this communal is that wherever you go, whatever you do, just snap a picture, take a little video. Post that back up to the Daily Audio Bible Facebook page, which can be found at facebook.com/dailyaudiobible. And then we will be able to enjoy each other’s long walks and look through these little windows into each other’s lives and into what your day looked like. So I look forward to that every July 7th, and today will be no different. So make sure to post up your picture.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hello DAB listeners. This is Michael from North Georgia. I wanted to call and give praise report about my wife. First of all, I’d like to thank every single one of you guys for praying for my wife. She is now finally on the road to recovery. After nine months of testing and not being able to figure out what is wrong with her they finally did a biopsy of her right lung in three places, sent it out, and turns out, from sending samples, I guess, to the Mayo Clinic, wherever that is, that she has a extremely rare form of vasculitis. It normally doesn’t show up on a vasculitis test. It came back negative. But, at least, praise God now we know exactly what’s wrong and therefore they have a target and can start giving her different types of medicine to help her recover from whatever this is. From what I understand it’s an autoimmune disease, possibly could have been inherited. Not really sure about that. Her mom’s pretty healthy. Her dad was killed in a car wreck at 21 years old. So, we don’t really have a low lot go by from that standpoint. But we are claiming healing in the name of Jesus. Thank you so much for your prayers. She is starting to feel a lot better. Hopefully she’ll be returning to work soon with her business. That’s what she ultimately wants to be able to do in another week. Thank you guys so much for praying for her. It is such a blessing to see God’s work being done in her life. And because of all your prayers as well. Thank you so much for everything that you have done. God bless you guys. Have a blessed day and we love you.

Hi DAB. This is Laura Lee in Boynton Beach. I’d like to ask for a prayer request for my neighbor. Join me in prayer lease. I’d like to pray for her on her behalf. Heavenly Father, thank You for Linda Ray. Thank You for all the opportunities in our relationship as neighbors to glorify You in her presence. I thank You for allowing me to serve her in so many ways. Lord, You know all the details about her circumstances right now and I know You’ve been knocking on the door to her heart. Today, help me express what You would have me say to her. Holy Spirit, fill me with what she will hear. I pray a breakthrough the fog of medication and indifference with Your glory. Stun her and give her a Damascus Road experience. Let her in to an intermittent relationship with You. Penetrate her heart of stone and kiss her soul to life and melt the walls of resistance. She’s afraid of love, afraid of feeling, afraid of change. And each of these fears, they are lies about Your heart. Tell her the truth. And Your grace and truth is her freedom. Lord, You love her more than I ever could and I thank You ahead of time in the name of Jesus. Amen. Thank you all.

Hi. This is Cherry Pie from the Tulsa Oklahoma area, of specifically Claremore. I’ve __ this call many times. I can’t keep it under two minutes. So, I’m just going to do this. It’s July the 5th. I heard Victoria’s message and from Arizona, Alabama. And I’m like her in the fact that, I am just being hit by so many things all at once that my head is spinning. I’m so sorry, here we go. I got a job two years ago but I can only come back home twice a year and God gave it to me. I know I was to have it. He allowed me to do many things but ___ this marriage of 31 years will be final this coming August and it was very bad. And I’m exhausted. I’m, right now, I got back a couple days ago to home. It’s in my name. I made the payments bit __ as I have to share it with him. I have nothing from the divorce, just this home and now I want to __ in such peace and I…oh gosh…where do I go with this…there’s no air conditioning, there’s nothing, there’s no car. I’m stuck here for two weeks to move my stuff out. I just…I want to keep the home…I think I’ve got some leverage in that area maybe. I got to talk to a lawyer. But there’s just so many things. God knows. God can give you guys the Spirit of knowing how to pray for me. But I’m just exhausted. I need wisdom and peace. I need wisdom and peace on this stuff. So many decisions, you now, like the __ I just can’t really the details in two minutes but it’s been so long and intense that I just need favor, wisdom, peace, and God will show you guys the rest. I’ve been feeling…

Hello Daily Audio Bible. I am calling because I am struggling with smoking and I have gotten myself hooked after a long time break of smoking and I’m having a hard time breaking away even though I’ve had minor successes. I know that I am being compelled by God to stop smoking. I’m asking for your prayer for complete and utter deliverance and obedience to God in all areas of my life. I’m starting and ending my day with God. I’m getting back to listening to the Daily Audio Bible every day and I have plans of joining the long walk. Today is July 5th. Thank you so much for your prayers. And I thank God for each and every one of you. Thank you Brian and family for your obedience to God. Have a great day.

1 Chronicles 2:18-4:4, Acts 24:1-27, Psalms 4:1-8, Proverbs 18:16-18

Today is the 6th day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It’s great to be here with you as we bring another workweek to a close. And we’ll take the next step forward in the Scriptures. We’ve been reading from The Voice Translation this week and we’ll pick up where we left off, 1 Chronicles chapter 2 verse 18 through 4 verse 4 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, Paul made it safely to Caesarea, Caesarea Maritima, which is on the Mediterranean coast. Five days later, the high priest in Jerusalem, Ananias, makes his journey to Caesarea. It’s pretty good sized journey. So, this is a pretty big deal for the high priest to leave Jerusalem and the temple and go to Caesarea to make a case but that’s how seriously they were taking the issue of Paul whom they were deeming as a heretic and an apostate. Of course, Paul was claiming none of that and denying all of that, but that’s the conflict and we’ll see it in one form or another continue throughout Paul’s ministry. So, Paul gets an audience before the governor, and he is defending himself. Now he’s able to begin to share the good news, the message of The Way, as it was known, to the Roman proconsul. And later on Felix, the proconsul or the governor, and his wife, Drusilla, listen to Paul. So, he’s got a one-on-one audience with one of the most powerful people in the land and is able to share the message of Jesus. We point out most every year when we get to this part of the book of Acts is just how systematically we see how Paul’s influence, how the people that he is beginning to be able to talk to are people that he would never have been able to get a meeting with. The message of the good news of Jesus is reaching the highest places in government and we will continue to watch this as we continue through the story of Paul.

Prayer:

Father, we thank you for your word. I thank you for bringing us all of these days since the beginning of the year through all of these stories through all of this time. We thank you that we can see the thread of faithfulness of redemption, of kindness and love. You are the all mighty one, the Lord of Heaven’s armies, and yet you are kind and just and gracious. And we can see that, not only in the Scripture, but certainly in our own lives and we are grateful. We give ourselves to you completely, our minds, our bodies, our hearts, our Spirits and ask Holy Spirit that you continue to lead us forward. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi. This this is Terry the truck driver. It is July 4. Listening to the community prayer for June 30. The lady just called in about her son and he’s been off of meth for four months. He’s living with the grandkids. I want you to know on praying for you. I understand fully what you going through. I’ve been going through it myself for a while now. It finally came to a point where I had to make my son leave, my stepson, but we had to make him leave. He would not help with the bills, got angry when we asked him to. It Pretty crazy, got very crazy. The kids live with us now. We were actually living next door to them at one time. We moved into town to get away from him. He does not have anything to do with his kids. His girlfriend, he posts all over social media what he’s doing with her and her little boy and girl. It’s a very sad situation. Totally understand what you’re going through and I want you to know I’m lifting you up to the Lord in prayer, you and your son, your whole family. God bless you and you have a blessed day.

Hi everybody. How are you doing? My name is Eddie. I’m from Las Vegas. I’ve got a couple prayer requests today. Just want to say thank you Brian and Jill for this first of all. All you all, I’ve been listening for quite a while now. I’ve a prayer request for an uncle of mine, his name is Jesse. He’s been on drugs for really long time and right now there’s a pretty bad situation going on. My grandmother, which he lives with, she is 99 years old, she has dementia and she’s been in the hospital a lot and we don’t know how much longer she’s going to be with us. So, my prayers for her, first of all, you know, that, you know she’s 99, you know so if it’s God world to color home, you know that’s his will, but with if we could have more time with her, that would be great. But I mean, it’s my uncle, if he doesn’t change his ways is going to end up you know on the streets, no, or dad or other no. But it’s a pretty bad situation and the whole family is concerned about the situation. So, if you guys could just send prayers out to my uncle that he could cleanup and straighten out his life for his family and hope and for my grandmother, you know, I don’t know. I just need prayers for the Lord. And I’ve got a friend of mine, his name is Donnie. He’s just, I saw him in church Sunday, and he’s trying to change his ways to. You know, if we can just send out a prayer for him. His name is Donnie. And his girlfriend Lisa has stage IV cancer. So, if you could just lift them up and just help her with the cancer…
