Job 37:1-39:30 , 2 Corinthians 4:13-5:10 , Psalms 44:9-26 , Proverbs 22:13

Today is the 31st day of August. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It’s great to be here with you. Gosh…this is the end of another month. We just sailed through summertime didn’t we. Of course, here in the south summer lasts a little longer, but let’s not get into all that, let’s get into what we came here to do, which is to take the next step forward as we continue to move our way through the Bible this year. This week we’re reading from the God’s word translation and back into Job. Today, Chapter 37 verse 1 through 39 verse 30. And by way of reminder, Job and his friends have been having a very long conversation. And one of the friends was a little bit younger so he kept silent, but he has been keeping silent no longer. And Elihu will continue to speak in today’s reading…and then…God will show up.

Commentary:

Okay. So, as we move to the conclusion of Job, which will happen tomorrow. Let’s remember how the story began, right? Job experienced this unexpected really like, unthinkable, unfathomable tragedy in his life, where everything systematically fell apart. And what followed was intense discussion between Job and his friends about the nature of God and what God does and doesn’t do. And all of this discussion was pulled out by Job’s claim that he was innocent, that what he was dealing with was not something that he deserved and he assumed that God was judging him without cause. So, Job asked a lot of questions. His friends attempted to give a lot of answers, all while trying to defend God and to show Job that he was the one that was wrong, that pride was the thing that had led to his downfall, and that he needed to repent, when all the while Job is saying, everything you’re telling me I already know. I want to have an audience with my Creator, like I want to talk to God in person. So, today…so today Job got what he wanted. God showed up. And every time that we go through Job and God shows up and begins to speak it’s like, so powerful. I wish I had a deeper booming voice for that part. Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorant words? Brace yourself like a man because I have some questions for you, and you must answer them. Ahhh… I mean for starters, we just have to acknowledge how terrifying it would be to hear the voice of God speaking such things as a result of what we’d been saying about him. And you just have to put yourself in Job’s shoes. Yes, it has been an absolutely unspeakably bitter time, but he probably wasn’t thinking about that so much when God showed up and said I have some questions for you, right? And God asks some serious questions today. And as we move to conclude Job tomorrow God will continue to speak we’ll finally get to hear what Job has to say after he’s endured all of this and ultimately got what he wanted, an audience with God.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word and we thank You for Your almighty power. You are the sovereign God and we were able to hear from You in Job today and experience that to some degree, and You are the sovereign God. We humble ourselves before You. There is a lot more going on than we know about, and there are things that we are never going to sort out or figure out but You know all things and You have created us and You are our Father. You know what we don’t. You know what we don’t need to know. We trust in You. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hey, what’s up everybody? It’s Miguel from Santa Rosa leaving a follow-up message from earlier today. I had started talking about fasting. And, so, had another point I wanted to bring up on that. And especially for those of you that struggle with any sort of addiction or habits or some sort of a vice of a sin that you have trouble with. I want you to hear this as well. So, recently I was doing a day of fasting, just a simple day and towards the evening, towards the end of the day, I had walked into the kitchen simply just to talk to my wife about something and there were some crackers there on the counter and simply out of impulse I had reached for one in the middle of my fast and I stopped before I grabbed one and realized what was going on. And I had a moment of realizing, wow, what an impulse. And I realized through the spirit talking to me at that moment about when you’re doing a fast, you become keenly aware of your impulses, of your habits, whether they be good or bad, you become keenly aware of what your body wants to do. And what I was shown in that moment is just…whatever addiction or habit you might have, those are impulses, those are things that your body is been trained to do, a lot like simply just reaching for a cracker when you’re hungry. So, when you fast it’s actually an act of training your body. Does not Scripture talk about that every now and again, that we ought to train our bodies, that we have to be masters over our own bodies? So, let me invite you, that if you have an addiction or habits or vice or something like that that you are trying to break. Perhaps, the Lord might be calling you to fast and train your body. Fast and pray against whatever it is that you are struggling with and may you be released in Jesus name.

Hi. This is Shannon from Salem Oregon and I heard the message played on August 25th from a dear sister whose grandchildren are walking in darkness. And this is what the Lord gave me to speak over you and pray over you tonight. From Ephesians 6:10-12. Finally my sister stay strong in the Lord in his mighty power put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes for our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authority, against the powers of this dark world, and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm. So, Lord we come to You and we lay before You all of these family members all of these friends in our lives who are walking in darkness under the influence of these spiritual forces of evil. And things look hopeless at times but God we refuse to give into the discouragement and to the lies of the enemy. And we stand together as an army because that’s what You’ve made us. And we choose to put on this armor that You’ve given us and stand together holding up our shield of faith believing that You love every one of these people that are walking in darkness right now, believing that You will shine Your light on them and that they will walk into it. And we will struggle against the spiritual forces of evil and not against the people that are in front of us. Help us to love them and not struggle against them. Help us to do our battles in the spiritual realm using every…

Yes. This is Ramona and I’m calling from Alabama. Good morning Daily Audio Bible family members and others. I am calling just to pray for those of us who feel like our prayers are insignificant because of hearing about other people’s issues that seem a lot tougher or harder to deal with than some of the things that we may call in or want to call in for. That’s the way we just think as humans, your issues are worse than mine. And, to a degree, that is true but your prayers are not insignificant. If God cares about the very hairs on our head, if He collects our tears and keeps them in a bottle, then He cares about every little detail of our lives. So, if it’s an issue that is affecting you then it affects us as the body of Christ and we need to be sensitive to whatever prayer is called in and requested. So, from diffing a well to get water as the caller that I just heard to someone having an incurable disease. If it affects you it’s your issue, it’s very real, it affects us as the body of Christ and it effects God. He cares, He’s very detailed, and He sees all and knows all. So, go ahead and call with whatever prayer request and we will pray for you. Once again Ramona from Alabama. I love you all. Have a blessed life. Goodbye.

It’s the August 28th, 2018 and this is Angel from California. I had called in and asked for your continual prayers because I was gonna go to my primary doctor after having surgery, brain surgery. I had six aneurysms embedded in my brain and I got released the following day. And the doctor says that I’m doing very well. So, I wanted to report that to you. A sister called in just recently and she had an accent either Nigerian or Liberian accent and you are from Maryland. Sister, I want to say that I laughed so hard. You made me laugh. You made me so much…having so much joy in my life. You are such an inspiration to all of us. And Victoria Soldier, what a blessing you are my sister. I want to be just like you. God bless you. You never…when you call in…you never ask for any prayers but please ask. We would be so happy to pray for you my sister. Mac from Australia, you requested prayer for your mother because she’s going to go to surgery on August the 30th. I just want to tell you my brother that I’m praying for your mom. Let’s continue to pray for Carolyn, she was diagnosed with Lyme cancer according to the doctors she had pesticides in her spine and she had twins and is a believer. Let’s lift her up, her husband and family in prayer brothers and sisters. Drew from the bay area, thank you for praying for me. Praying for Buck and I’m praying for Luke, your father and Karen…and for your dad’s impressions. Lori from North Carolina, let him…

The Daily Audio Bible Reading for Friday August 31, 2018 (NIV)

Job 37-39

Elihu Continues: God’s Ways Are Beyond Human Understanding

“My heart pounds because of this
and jumps out of its place.
Listen! Listen to the roar of God’s voice,
to the rumbling that comes from his mouth.
He flashes his lightning everywhere under heaven.
His light flashes to the ends of the earth.
It is followed by the roar of his voice.
He thunders with his majestic voice.
He doesn’t hold the lightning back when his thunder is heard.
God’s voice thunders in miraculous ways.
It does great things that we cannot understand.

“He says to the snow, ‘Fall to the ground,’
and to the pouring rain, ‘Rain harder!’
He makes it impossible to do anything[a]
so that people will recognize his work.
Animals go into their dens
and stay in their lairs.
A storm comes out of its chamber.
It is cold because of the strong winds.[b]
10 God’s breath produces ice,
and the seas freeze over.
11 Yes, he loads the thick clouds with moisture
and scatters his lightning from the clouds.
12 He guides the clouds as they churn round and round
over the face of the inhabited earth
to do everything he orders them.
13 Whether for discipline,
or for the good of his earth,
or out of mercy,
he makes the storm appear.

14 “Open your ears to this, Job.
Stop and consider God’s miracles.
15 Do you know how God controls them
and makes the lightning flash from his clouds?
16 Do you know how the clouds drift
(these are the miracles of the one who knows everything),
17 you whose clothes are hot and sweaty,
when the earth is calm under a south wind?
18 Can you stretch out the skies with him
and make them as firm as a mirror made of metal?
19 Teach us what we should say to him.
We are unable to prepare a case because of darkness.
20 Should he be told that I want to speak?
Can a person speak when he is confused?
21 People can’t look at the sun
when it’s bright among the clouds
or after the wind has blown and cleared those clouds away.
22 A golden light comes from the north.
A terrifying majesty is around God.
23 The Almighty, whom we can’t reach,
is great in power and judgment,
has more than enough righteousness,
and does not oppress.
24 That is why people should fear him.
He does not respect those who think they’re wise.”

The Lord Speaks: Who Is Able to Challenge Me?

Then the Lord answered Job out of the storm.

“Who is this that belittles my advice
with words that do not show any knowledge about it?
Brace yourself like a man!
I will ask you, and you will teach me.

The Lord Speaks about Creation

“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
Tell me if you have such insight.
Who determined its dimensions?
Certainly, you know!
Who stretched a measuring line over it?
On what were its footings sunk?
Who laid its cornerstone
when the morning stars sang together
and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

“Who shut the sea behind gates
when it burst through and came out of the womb,
when I clothed it with clouds
and wrapped it up in dark clouds,
10 when I set a limit for it
and put up bars and gates,
11 when I said, ‘You may come this far but no farther.
Here your proud waves will stop’?

12 “Have you ever given orders to the morning
or assigned a place for the dawn
13 so that it could grab the earth by its edges
and shake wicked people out of it?
14 The earth changes like clay stamped by a seal,
and parts of it stand out like folds in clothing.
15 Wicked people are deprived of their light,
and an arm raised in victory is broken.
16 Have you gone to the springs in the sea
or walked through the valleys of the ocean depths?
17 Have the gateways to death been revealed to you,
or have you seen the gateways to total darkness?
18 Have you even considered how wide the earth is?
Tell me, if you know all of this!

19 “What is the way to the place where light lives?
Where is the home of darkness
20 so that you may lead it to its territory,
so that you may know the path to its home?
21 You must know because you were born then
and have lived such a long time!
22 Have you been to the warehouses where snow is stored
or seen the warehouses for hail
23 that I have stored up for the time of trouble,
for the day of battle and war?
24 Which is the way to the place where light is scattered
and the east wind is spread across the earth?

25 “Who made a channel for the flooding rains
and a path for the thunderstorms
26 to bring rain on a land where no one lives,
on a desert where there are no humans,
27 to saturate the desolate wasteland
in order to make it sprout with grass?
28 Does the rain have a father?
Who gave birth to the dewdrops?
29 From whose womb came the ice,
and who has given birth to the frost in the air?
30 The water hardens like a stone,
and the surface of the ocean freezes over.

31 “Can you connect the chains of the constellation Pleiades
or untie the ropes of Orion?
32 Can you bring out the constellations at the right time
or guide Ursa Major with its cubs?
33 Do you know the laws of the sky
or make them rule the earth?
34 Can you call to the clouds
and have a flood of water cover you?
35 Can you send lightning flashes so that they may go and say to you,
‘Here we are’?
36 Who put wisdom in the heart
or gave understanding to the mind?[c]
37 Who is wise enough to count the clouds
or pour out the water jars of heaven
38 when the dirt hardens into clumps
and the soil clings together?

The Lioness

39 “Can you hunt prey for the lioness
and satisfy the hunger of her cubs
40 as they crouch in their dens
and lie ready to ambush from their lairs?

The Crow

41 “Who provides food for the crow
when its young ones cry to God
and wander around in need of food?

The Lord Continues: The Mountain Goats

“Do you know the time when the mountain goats give birth?
Do you watch the does when they are in labor?
Can you count the months they are pregnant
or know the time when they’ll give birth?
They kneel down to give birth and deliver their young.
Then the pain of giving birth is over.
Their young are healthy and grow up in the wild.
They leave and don’t come back.

The Wild Donkey

“Who lets the wild donkey go free?
Who unties the ropes of the wild donkey?
I gave it the desert to live in
and the salt flats as its dwelling place.
It laughs at the noise of the city
and doesn’t even listen to the shouting of its master.
It explores the mountains for its pasture
and looks for anything green.

The Wild Ox

“Will the wild ox agree to serve you,
or will it stay at night beside your feeding trough?
10 Can you guide a wild ox in a furrow,
or will it plow the valleys behind you?
11 Can you trust it just because it’s so strong
or leave your labor to it?
12 Can you rely on it to bring your grain back
and take it to your threshing floor?[d]

The Ostrich

13 “Does the ostrich flap its wings in joy,
or do its wings lack feathers?[e]
14 It lays its eggs on the ground
and warms them in the dust.
15 It forgets that a foot may crush them
or a wild animal may trample them.
16 It acts harshly toward its young as if they weren’t its own.
It is not afraid that its work is for nothing
17 because God has deprived it of wisdom
and did not give it any understanding.
18 It laughs at the horse and its rider when it gets up to flee.

The Horse

19 “Can you give strength to a horse
or dress its neck with a flowing mane?
20 Can you make it leap like a locust,
when its snorting causes terror?
21 It paws in strength and finds joy in its power.
It charges into battle.
22 It laughs at fear,
is afraid of nothing,
and doesn’t back away from swords.
23 A quiver of arrows rattles on it
along with the flashing spear and javelin.
24 Anxious and excited, the horse eats up the ground
and doesn’t trust the sound of the ram’s horn.
25 As often as the horn sounds, the horse says, ‘Aha!’
and it smells the battle far away—
the thundering orders of the captains and the battle cries.

The Birds of Prey

26 “Does your understanding make a bird of prey fly
and spread its wings toward the south?
27 Is it by your order that the eagle flies high
and makes its nest on the heights?
28 It perches for the night on a cliff.
Its fortress is on a jagged peak.
29 From there it seeks food,
and its eyes see it from far away.
30 Its young ones feed on blood.
It is found wherever there are dead bodies.”

2 Corinthians 4:13-5:10

13 The following is written, “I believed; therefore, I spoke.” We have that same spirit of faith. We also believe; therefore, we also speak. 14 We know that the one who brought the Lord Jesus back to life will also bring us back to life through Jesus. He will present us to God together with you.

15 All this is for your sake so that, as God’s kindness[a] overflows in the lives of many people, it will produce even more thanksgiving to the glory of God. 16 That is why we are not discouraged. Though outwardly we are wearing out, inwardly we are renewed day by day. 17 Our suffering is light and temporary and is producing for us an eternal glory that is greater than anything we can imagine. 18 We don’t look for things that can be seen but for things that can’t be seen. Things that can be seen are only temporary. But things that can’t be seen last forever.

Faith Guides Our Lives

We know that if the life we live here on earth is ever taken down like a tent, we still have a building from God. It is an eternal house in heaven that isn’t made by human hands. In our present tent-like existence we sigh, since we long to put on the house we will have in heaven. After we have put it on,[b] we won’t be naked. While we are in this tent, we sigh. We feel distressed because we don’t want to take off the tent, but we do want to put on the eternal house. Then eternal life will put an end to our mortal existence. God has prepared us for this and has given us his Spirit to guarantee it.

So we are always confident. We know that as long as we are living in these bodies, we are living away from the Lord. Indeed, our lives are guided by faith, not by sight. We are confident and prefer to live away from this body and to live with the Lord. Whether we live in the body or move out of it, our goal is to be pleasing to him. 10 All of us must appear in front of Christ’s judgment seat. Then all people will receive what they deserve for the good or evil they have done while living in their bodies.

Psalm 44:9-26

But now you have rejected and disgraced us.
You do not even go along with our armies.
10 You make us retreat from the enemy.
Those who hate us rob us at will.
11 You hand us over to be butchered like sheep
and scatter us among the nations.
12 You sell your people for almost nothing,
and at that price you have gained nothing.
13 You made us a disgrace to our neighbors
and an object of ridicule and contempt to those around us.
14 You made our defeat a proverb among the nations
so that people shake their heads at us.
15 All day long my disgrace is in front of me.
Shame covers my face
16 because of the words of those who insult and slander us,
because of the presence of the enemy and the avenger.

17 Although all of this happened to us,
we never forgot you.
We never ignored your promise.[a]
18 Our hearts never turned away.
Our feet never left your path.
19 Yet, you crushed us in a place for jackals
and covered us with the shadow of death.

20 If we forgot the name of our God
or stretched out our hands to pray to another god,
21 wouldn’t God find out,
since he knows the secrets in our hearts?
22 Indeed, we are being killed all day long because of you.
We are thought of as sheep to be slaughtered.

23 Wake up! Why are you sleeping, O Lord?
Awake! Do not reject us forever!
24 Why do you hide your face?
Why do you forget our suffering and misery?
25 Our souls are bowing in the dust.
Our bodies cling to the ground.
26 Arise! Help us!
Rescue us because of your mercy!

Job 34:1-36:33 , 2 Corinthians 4:1-12 , Psalms 43:1-5 , Proverbs 22:8-9

Today is the 30th day of August. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is great to be here with you today. Man…30th day of August, that…that means tomorrow is the last day of this month. How about that? Well, let’s make the most of what we have left of the month of August for God’s glory and let’s take the next step forward together as we move to the Scriptures. We’ve been reading from the God’s word Translation this week. And now we’ll go back to Job, pick up where we left off yesterday. Job 34 verse 1 through 36:33.

Commentary:

Okay. So, in second Corinthians today we kind of pass through a fairly famous piece, portion of Scripture. Paul says, in every way we’re troubled but we aren’t crushed by our troubles. We’re frustrated but we don’t give up. We’re persecuted but we’re not abandoned. We’re captured but we’re not killed. We’re always carrying around the death of Jesus in our bodies so that the life of Jesus is also shown in our bodies. The reason that this is fairly popular Scripture is that it’s a message of endurance. The message of endurance is something that we’re going to begin seeing over and over and over and over, like an escalating theme through the rest of the New Testament. This passage from Paul today encourages us not to give up. That’s what’s made it popular. Here’s the interesting thing. Here’s a little twist. Paul’s not talking about us in that Scripture, not that we can’t apply it to ourselves or the idea of enduring until the end. But he’s not talking about his readers. He’s talking about what it is like for he and his ministry team to do what they’re doing. So, whoever it is in your life that you consider a spiritual leader, whoever it is that is your pastor or priest or presbyter, whoever it is that are deacons, whoever it is that is serving the body wherever you are, they are going through these things for themselves but also on your behalf. So, like a double dose of burden. So, let’s go back through that passage again with our spiritual leaders in mind. In every way we are troubled but we aren’t crushed by our troubles. We’re frustrated but we don’t give up. We’re persecuted but we’re not abandoned. We’re captured but we’re not killed. We always carry around the death of Jesus in our bodies so that the life of Jesus is also shown in our bodies. While we are alive we are constantly handed over to death for Jesus sake so that the life of Jesus is also shown in our mortal nature. Death is at work in us but life is at work in you. We can find this passage encouraging because it helps us individually to have a message of endurance, but every time we hear this verse we should also understand its context and begin to intercede and pray for those who we consider spiritual leaders in our lives. They’re carrying a heavy burden on our behalf. That is what the calling requires.

Father we take this opportunity here in the waning days of this eighth month of the year to thank you for those that you have sent into our lives to mentor and encourage us, for those that you’ve given to pastor and shepherd us, for those that you have given to serve your body, which includes us, we thank you for them. And we acknowledge that it’s a very difficult job to care for sheep who…who go astray. And we acknowledge that you have empowered and called and gifted certain people to carry this burden. And, so, we ask God that you fill anew with your Holy Spirit, restore them, rejuvenate them, fill them with light and life and hope. Fill them with strength and endurance. Put the wind at their back and give them rest. We thank you God for sending people that have loved us, whether we loved them back or not, that have cared about what happens to us whether we’ve cared or not. We thank You for those who have stepped into the role of being your hands and feet and caring for the community of faith. Come Holy Spirit, fill them with your power we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi family. It’s Shannon from Texas. I need you guys to pray about something for me. It’s hard for me to talk about because I consider this very personal but it’s gotten to a point where I really need some…some help. I have been seeing someone for a while…about six months…but I have definitely held him at bay. My favorite thing to do is say no because I am waiting on an answer from the Lord about whether he’s the one for me or not. And most of the time I feel like he’s not. But I have seen him grow tremendously in the Lord and the weird thing about me is that…sometimes I think I’m just crazy because of what I’ve been through in a relationship, just an abusive narcissist relationship and then I left that man so many times and went back I think it’s just distorted my view of what is right and what is supposed to be healthy and normal. But I have spent four years single and preparing myself and I feel like I am ready now to go forward. And I just need prayers to know. He’s such a good man and he loves me so much and he has been so patient with me. And to be honest, a lot of the reason I feel like I don’t want him is for financial reasons. And I know that that’s not right because he has told me things like that he will work his fingers to the bone from and it just breaks my heart because I think what man says that? And I just need some prayer because I want to either end or go forward. No more waiting around. So, please pray for me. Pray for him. I love you guys. Thank you so much. I’m praying for all of you.

Hi. It’s Robert Clark, Learning to Serve. I’ve been wanting to talk about my testimony I guess. It’s really important, I think it might help some of us, or all of us, or someone maybe. But I came to the Daily Audio Bible 12 years ago or 11 and I got to the 12th year and listened to it and I love this. I just love this so much. I’ve been able to, in that amount of time, 11 years, go about 40 times. And I’ve listened to everybody’s prayer requests and I just think it’s just the most amazing thing that we have that, with the word and with a guy like Brian and his family to be able to…to guide us. My testimony is like, I guess, Jesus came to me one night when I was in real deep distress and He brought me to a shalom that was beyond any understanding I understood. And at that point, which was 13 years ago, sent me on a quest to understand the word and understand what God and Jesus were doing more. And I always had trouble reading it myself and I am just learning and growing with you all. And I’m just, really am learning to communicate now so much more as the time goes by. I just love prayer and to see it happen and to listen and to learn. I know I have two minutes. I love you all. And I thank God for you all. And in Jesus name I pray with you all. And Amen, yes, and thank you with all my love. God bless us all.

Hello everybody. Hey it’s Annette Allison from Oklahoma City. Hey, Terry the Truck Driver, my brother,  God bless you, God bless you. I am so thankful that you are okay and that He put his hand down there to protect you. I don’t know what that bridge looked like but I know usually on the other side of bridge is a pretty big fall and I’m…I’m just glad you are okay. I am so, so sorry about your puppy dog and I know you had…I think you had just lost one recently on top of that. Man I’m thinking oh man. I gave my dogs and express just because for you brother. And I hope that everything is going well with your…your truck and your insurance and all that kind of thing and your wife. God bless her. I could not even imagine…imagine the anxiety that she must’ve been going through but I’m sure that she’s thankful that you’re alright. And I know we are all thankful that you’re alright. And, so, in the Spirit I like to pray with everybody going on the family retreat this weekend, woot woot. We are going to have a really good time. And dear Lord, please put Your hand on everyone. Keep their vehicles of travel, their methods of travel safe and secure. All of those of you on an airplane I hope that you find great opportunities to speak to anyone around who will listen about what you are doing and where you’re going and why you’re going there. Because I know that we all have great stories to tell. And it can provide hope for many people. And may we grow our family as we come together. And I hope that the Lord will lay His hand on that place that were going to and keep us all safe and keep everybody who wants to go to the city safe. And may our weather be nice. I know that whatever the Lord has in store with us is for a reason…

Hi. This is Melody from Canada and I am calling to respond to Curtis from Callie. I heard your prayer on August 26th. You’re struggling with OCD and brother I can relate to you. I also struggle with OCD and __ and it’s exhausting and distressing and it’s so easy to feel like a terrible person. You hear like __ in my head and it…yeah…it’s really hard. And I just want to encourage you to be kind to yourself and know that God is with you even if your brain may be screaming otherwise. And hold onto Him and don’t let the thoughts of power because they don’t have power they only have as much power as you give them. And I pray for you for a clear mind and for hope to worship __ out of trouble and that you’re able to rest in Christ as He lives throughout your soul. I’m praying for you as I have if you could pray for me. Thanks. Love you all. Bye.

Job 31:1-33:33 , 2 Corinthians 3:1-18 , Psalms 43:1-5 , Proverbs 22:8-9

Today is the 29th day of August. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It’s great to be here with you as we move through hump day, the center of the week. And, of course, no matter what day, month, or year that it is we’re gonna follow tradition and pick up where we left off yesterday, which will take us  back out into the book of Job. And we’re reading from the God’s word translation this week. Job 31:1 through 33 verse 33 today.

Commentary:

Alright. So, in our reading from second Corinthians today, Paul discussed veils as a way of contrasting the old covenant law that originated with Moses and the new covenant revealed through Jesus, but we wonder…we might wonder what that has to do with veils. And we just have to remember the story. God was coming down on Mount Sinai. We’ll remember this back from the beginning of the year. And there was fire and smoke and the people were afraid and they backed off and asked Moses to go and be their representative before God. So he did. And when he came back down off the mountain his face shone with God’s glory, right? And, so, this caused the people to be even more afraid. And, so, Moses put a veil over his face. So, for Paul, looking through a veil represented the way people had viewed the law ever since. So, for Paul, the law continued to point out all the ways that people were failing while Jesus ministry and his redemptive work revealed the way in which we can be free from the failings and become righteous before God. And what makes this so compelling is the way that Paul began to paint a picture of what life might look like if we weren’t looking through a veil anymore. And, so, he says, whenever someone turns the Lord, the veil is taken away for the Lord is the Spirit. Wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom, right? So, that’s famous passage of Scripture, but the implications of what we’re talking about here…sometimes we just move through this and we don’t slow down to go, wait….what…what are you saying? So if we won’t to get to the implications we just need a couple verses from Psalms, Psalm 139, where can I go for your spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to heaven You’re there. If I go down to the grave You’re there. So, if freedom exists wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, and according to the Scriptures we cannot find ourselves away from God’s Spirit, then that means freedom is always available. This is what having the veil removed lets us see and lets us  experience. And this becomes really helpful because any time that we’re not experiencing this freedom, we now can understand that we’re choosing to look through a veil. And, so, Paul contextualizes what this freedom can be and what our lives are supposed to look like. He said, all of us who have had the veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord who is the Spirit makes us more and more like Him as we are changed into his glorious image. I mean that one verse is the context for our lives. And once we see clearly what God has done, once the veil is removed, we can see freely and reflect the glory of the Lord upon the earth. That’s good news, but that’s what were supposed to be doing. That’s how it was always supposed to be. And when we live in that kind of freedom and reflect God’s glory, we’re being made Godlike, Christlike. We’re being made more and more like him, that’s Paul’s words, as we are changed into His glorious image. I mean, think about that. I mean, we might think about it go…I don’t know man…I’ve never really…I don’t know how…I don’t how to get to that. I don’t even know how to put that in my mind, that I’m being transformed into the image of my Creator, that this is what Christlike means as opposed to a set of rules and ethics that I try to obey that I can’t obey so I can never live up to them. That’s looking through veil according to Paul. That’s just the Christian way of looking at the law that the Jews were looking at in Paul’s time. Paul’s saying its way, way, way, way, way bigger than that. And, so, we can start thinking this through, and go that's…I mean…it’s just…just disruptive. I don’t know how to get my mind around that. Paul’s describing a humanity that is restored to what it was always supposed to be from the beginning. And we don’t need a law anymore, according to Paul, to point out our sin and failure because those things aren’t a part of our story anymore through Christ. The only time they’re a part of our story is when we make them a part of our story and put the veil back over our eyes and can’t see clearly anymore who we really are. Who we really are are beings created in the image of God who are being made whole and can reflect the glory of the Lord upon the earth, according to the apostle Paul. I mean, if would take a few more minutes to think about this, how could that effect today? How could that affect the rest of our lives if we lived into this reality that Paul is describing?

Prayer:

Father, we thank you for your word and we thank you for the challenge of it because it continually invites us to consider the ways in which we live living less then you’ve created us to be in settling for far less then you are offering, which means that the impact of our lives is less than it could be on this earth. And you have created us to be restored so that we can be whole, so that we can reflect your glory upon the earth. Come Holy Spirit. Show us how to live into that, not in the future some time but today. How do we start to live into that today? The first way we start is to become aware. And the apostle Paul has made us aware. So, we’re asking you to plant these words in our lives, bringing out the fruit of the Spirit in us that we might reflect your glory today. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Good morning DAB. This is 3G and GR. My first time calling. Love listening to this every day while I’m at work. It keeps me grounded in God’s goodness and He’s proven to me time and time over the last year and a half that He is definitely on my side and working to change me to be a better man. I’m reaching out for prayers for my wife and my marriage. My wife has a rare form of kidney cancer that was discovered. They removed her kidney. Now they found that the cancer has moved into her lymph nodes. We’re awaiting a surgery date to remove the lymph nodes. While dealing with that she let me know that she wasn’t happy…she wasn’t…trying to trust me anymore. She doesn’t…she doesn’t feel like I’ve changed over the last year and a half. She doesn’t see any changes, anything positive and I really believe that Satan has gotten a hold of her heart and just turned it turned it dark towards me. And I’m asking for God’s goodness and all your prayers to change that heart towards me. Let her see the real me. I’m asking also to shield my step daughter’s hearts towards me. They’re really sit tight with their mother and kind of concerned how they’re going to respond to me when I see them again. I thank you for your prayer’s. I look forward to calling back and giving a positive report. Have the best day ever.

Hey everyone it’s Karen in St. Louis. I forgot I…I wanted to call in a prayer for the upcoming family reunion. Father God, Lord Jesus, I just pray that she would go before Brian and Jill and all the folks at Deer Run, that every detail would be just handled by you through them, everything would be orderly for all the people that are getting ready to go. And I pray that you would give travel mercies to everyone that’s going as well. I pray for protection for people that are there having fun. I pray Lord Jesus that we would just really sense the bond of community of being in the body and just not only the body of Daily Audio Bible but just the body of Christ Lord. And I just pray that there would be new relationships that are formed and it’ll be just such a joy to meet people that we’ve not met before. I pray that others can’t make it would be encouraged that they are with us in spirit. And I pray Lord that you would protect Brian and Jill in this ministry Lord. I just pray for their protection Father God as they further the gospel through Your word as they obey and do Your work in the kingdom, to build the kingdom as we all should be as we are growing in the word. I thank you Lord Jesus. I thank you so much. I praise you in Jesus’ name. Amen. Look forward to seeing you all. Bye.

Hi everyone. Tony from Germany. I’m praying first that the Holy Spirit will bless what I have to say. So, I’m calling on the August 26th recording and the people who called in. And Curtis from Calli. Your mention of OCD…what…it reminded me of a particular temptation that I dealt with for many, many years. And I realize that it had to do with feeling that I had no control. And, so, it was…it was an attempt to some way grab control. And, so, I just wanted to put that out to you. And then, of course, the Lord will speak to you about how He is in control. So, yeah, He will lead…the Holy Spirit will come through the rest of the way. And then Dave from South Carolina with your son, I want you to know that my family, we’ve experienced a really big turnaround with a young relative that was involved with drugs. And basically though it started, truly, truly started when my sister…two of my sisters going through the 12 step programs. One had been doing AA for many, many, many years. She’s a counselor. It has blessed her practice significantly with a very wise person blessed through that 12 spent step program. And my other sister went to Al-Anon and the subject person that I’m talking about was a total turnaround to the point where he goes to prisons and he’s part of the AA program. He goes to prisons and speaks. He goes back to the town that used to be dealing in and tries to bring other young people to AA. But it began…

Seeking Your face at the start of my day
asking for favor as I go on my way
let my lips speak Your praises to all those I meet
safeguard my heart Father and please guide my feet
help me not waiver or be insecure
tell everybody that You are the cure
no matter what ails them or problems that arise
You alone are the answer and that truth universally applies
not only to me but to the whole world too
one-size-fits-all and that’s definitely true
empower me Father so that I can be a blessing
singing Your praises universally confessing
all that You’ve done and all that I anticipate You still will yet to do
just like Jeremiah said every day Your mercies are made new

so I’m asking for favor at the start of my day
please bless me my Father as I go on my way

blindtony1016@gmail.com. Like to give a shout out to Dean Smith and also to Sherlock Wattson. Hope you’re both still hangin’ in there and once again Brian I’d like to thank you for this wonderful podcast for God’s Holy Spirit flow. Keep it flown’ y’all. All right. Bye-bye.

The Daily Audio Bible Reading for Thursday August 30, 2018 (NIV)

Job 34-36

Elihu Continues: Listen, Everyone

Elihu continued to speak to Job and his friends,

“Listen to my words, you wise men.
Open your ears to me, you intelligent men.
The ear tests words
like the tongue tastes food.
Let’s decide for ourselves what is right
and agree among ourselves as to what is good,
because Job has said,
‘I’m righteous, but God has taken away my rights.
I’m considered a liar in spite of my rights.
I’ve been wounded by a deadly arrow,
though I haven’t been disobedient.’
What person is like Job,
who drinks scorn like water,
who travels with troublemakers
and associates with evil people?
He says, ‘It doesn’t do any good to try to please God.’

10 “You people who have understanding, listen to me.
It is unthinkable that God would ever do evil
or that the Almighty would ever do wicked things.
11 God will repay humanity for what it has done
and will give each person what he deserves.
12 Certainly, God will never do anything evil,
and the Almighty will never pervert justice.
13 Who put him in charge of the earth?
Who appointed him to be over the whole world?
14 If he thought only of himself
and withdrew his Spirit and his breath,
15 all living beings would die together,
and humanity would return to dust.

God Is Fair

16 “If you understand, listen to this.
Open your ears to my words!
17 Should anyone who hates justice be allowed to govern?
Will you condemn the one who is righteous and mighty?
18 Should anyone even say to a king,
‘You good-for-nothing scoundrel!’
or to nobles, ‘You wicked people!’
19 The one who is righteous and mighty
does not grant special favors to princes
or prefer important people over poor people
because his hands made them all.
20 They die suddenly in the middle of the night.
People have seizures and pass away.
Mighty people are taken away but not by human hands.
21 God’s eyes are on a person’s ways.
He sees all his steps.
22 There’s no darkness or deep shadow
where troublemakers can hide.
23 He doesn’t have to set a time for a person
in order to bring him to divine judgment.
24 He breaks mighty people into pieces without examining them
and puts others in their places.
25 He knows what they do,
so he overthrows them at night, and they’re crushed.
26 In return for their evil, he strikes them in public,
27 because they turned away from following him
and didn’t consider any of his ways.
28 They forced the poor to cry out to him,
and he hears the cry of those who suffer.
29 If he keeps quiet, who can condemn him?
If he hides his face, who can see him
whether it is a nation or a single person?
30 He does this so that godless people cannot rule
and so that they cannot trap people.

31 “But suppose such a person says to God, ‘I am guilty,
I will stop my immoral behavior.
32 Teach me what I cannot see.
If I’ve done wrong, I won’t do it again.’
33 Should God reward you on your own terms since you have rejected his?
You must choose, not I.
Tell me what you know. Speak!

Elihu Makes an Appeal to God

34 “People of understanding, the wise people
who listen to me, will say,
35 ‘Job speaks without knowledge.
His words show no insight.’

36 “My Father, let Job be thoroughly tested
for giving answers like wicked people do.
37 He adds disobedience to his sin.
He claps his hands to insult us.
He multiplies his words against God.”

Elihu Continues: I Will Answer You and Your Friends, Job

Elihu continued to speak to Job and his friends,

“Do you think this is right
when you say, ‘My case is more just than God’s,’
when you ask, ‘What benefit is it to you?’
and, ‘What would I gain by sinning?’
I will answer you and your friends.

Human Behavior Cannot Change God

“Look at the heavens and see.
Observe the clouds high above you.
If you’ve sinned, what effect can you have on God?
If you’ve done many wrongs, what can you do to him?
If you’re righteous, what can you give him,
or what can he get from you?
Your wickedness affects only someone like yourself.
Your righteousness affects only the descendants of Adam.
The weight of oppression makes them cry out.
The power of mighty people makes them call for help.
10 But no one asks,
‘Where is God, my Creator,
who inspires songs in the night,
11 who teaches us more than he teaches the animals of the earth,
who makes us wiser than the birds in the sky?’
12 Then they cry out, but he doesn’t answer them
because of the arrogance of those evil people.

13 “Surely, God doesn’t listen to idle complaints.
The Almighty doesn’t even pay attention to them.
14 Although you say that you pay attention to him,
your case is in front of him, but you’ll have to wait for him.
15 And now you say that his anger doesn’t punish anyone
and he isn’t too concerned about evil.[a]
16 Job opens his mouth for no good reason
and talks a lot without having any knowledge.”

Elihu Continues: Hear Me Out

Elihu continued to speak to Job,

“Be patient with me a little longer, and I will show you
that there is more to be said in God’s defense.
I will get my knowledge from far away
and prove that my Creator is fair.
Certainly, my words are not lies.
The one who knows everything is speaking with you.

God’s Justice Is Beyond Human Understanding

“Certainly, God is mighty.
He doesn’t despise anyone.
He is mighty and brave.
He doesn’t allow the wicked person to live.
He grants justice to those who are oppressed.
He doesn’t take his eyes off righteous people.
He seats them on thrones with kings to honor them forever.
However, if righteous people are bound in chains
and tangled in ropes of misery,
he tells them what they’ve done wrong
and that they’ve behaved arrogantly.
10 He makes them listen to his warning
and orders them to turn away from wrong.

11 “If righteous people listen and serve him,
they will live out their days in prosperity
and their years in comfort.
12 But if they don’t listen,
they will cross the River of Death
and die like those who have no knowledge.
13 But those who have godless hearts remain angry.
They don’t even call for help when he chains them up.
14 They die while they’re young,
or they live on as male prostitutes in the temples of idols.
15 He rescues suffering people through their suffering,
and he opens their ears through distress.

16 “Yes, he lured you away from the jaws of trouble
into an open area where you were not restrained,
and your table was covered with rich foods.
17 But you are given the judgment evil people deserve.
A fair judgment will be upheld.
18 Be careful that you are not led astray with riches.
Don’t let a large bribe turn you to evil ways.
19 Will your riches save you from having to suffer?
Will all your mighty strength help you?
20 Don’t look forward to the night,
when people disappear from their places.
21 Be careful! Don’t turn to evil,
because you have chosen evil instead of suffering.[b]

22 “God does great things by his power.
Is there any teacher like him?
23 Who can tell him which way he should go?
Who can say to him, ‘You did wrong’?
24 Remember that you should praise his work.
People have sung about it.
25 Every person has seen it.
Mortals have looked at it from a distance.

26 “Certainly, God is so great
that he is beyond our understanding.
The number of his years cannot be counted.
27 He collects drops of water.
He distills rain from his mist,
28 which then drips from the clouds.
It pours down on many people.
29 Can anyone really understand how clouds spread out
or how he thunders from his dwelling place?
30 Look, he scatters his flashes of lightning around him
and covers the depths of the sea.
31 This is how he uses the rains to provide for people
and to give them more than enough food.
32 He fills his hands with lightning
and orders it to hit the target.
33 The thunder announces his coming.
The storm announces his angry wrath.

2 Corinthians 4:1-12

Paul Is Never Discouraged

We don’t become discouraged, since God has given us this ministry through his mercy. Instead, we have refused to use secret and shameful ways. We don’t use tricks, and we don’t distort God’s word. As God watches, we clearly reveal the truth to everyone. This is our letter of recommendation.

So if the Good News that we tell others is covered with a veil, it is hidden from those who are dying. The god of this world has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. As a result, they don’t see the light of the Good News about Christ’s glory. It is Christ who is God’s image.

Our message is not about ourselves. It is about Jesus Christ as the Lord. We are your servants for his sake. We are his servants because the same God who said that light should shine out of darkness has given us light. For that reason we bring to light the knowledge about God’s glory which shines from Christ’s face.

Our bodies are made of clay, yet we have the treasure of the Good News in them. This shows that the superior power of this treasure belongs to God and doesn’t come from us. In every way we’re troubled, but we aren’t crushed by our troubles. We’re frustrated, but we don’t give up. We’re persecuted, but we’re not abandoned. We’re captured, but we’re not killed. 10 We always carry around the death of Jesus in our bodies so that the life of Jesus is also shown in our bodies. 11 While we are alive, we are constantly handed over to death for Jesus’ sake so that the life of Jesus is also shown in our mortal nature. 12 Death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.

Psalm 44:1-8

Psalm 44

For the choir director; a maskil by Korah’s descendants.

O God,
we have heard it with our own ears.
Our ancestors have told us
about the miracle you performed in their day,
in days long ago.
By your power you forced nations out of the land,
but you planted our ancestors there.
You shattered many groups of people,
but you set our ancestors free.[a]
It was not with their swords that they took possession of the land.
They did not gain victory with their own strength.
It was your right hand, your arm,
and the light of your presence that did it,
because you were pleased with them.

You alone are my king, O God.
You won those victories for Jacob.
With you we can walk over our enemies.
With your name we can trample those who attack us.
I do not rely on my bow,
and my sword will never save me.
But you saved us from our enemies.
You put to shame those who hate us.
All day long we praise our God.
We give thanks to you forever. Selah

Proverbs 22:10-12

10 Drive out a mocker, and conflict will leave.
Quarreling and abuse will stop.
11 Whoever loves a pure heart and whoever speaks graciously
has a king as his friend.
12 The Lord’s eyes watch over knowledge,
but he overturns the words of a treacherous person.

Job 31-33

Job Wonders What Sin He May Have Committed

“I have made an agreement with my eyes.
Then how can I look with lust at a virgin?
What would God above do to me?
What would be my inheritance from the Almighty on high?
Aren’t there catastrophes for wicked people
and disasters for those who do wrong?
Doesn’t he see my ways
and count all my steps?

“If I have walked with lies
or my feet have run after deception,
then let God weigh me on honest scales,
and he will know I have integrity.

“If my steps have left the proper path,
or my heart has followed the desire of my eyes,
or my hands are stained with sin,
then let someone else eat what I have planted,
and let my crops be uprooted.

“If I have been seduced by a woman
or I have secretly waited near my neighbor’s door,
10 then let my wife grind for another man,
and let other men kneel over her.
11 That would be a scandal,
and that would be a criminal offense.
12 It would be a fire that burns even in Abaddon.
It would uproot my entire harvest.

13 “If I have abused the rights of my servants, male or female,
when they have disagreed with me,
14 then what could I do if God rises up?
If he examines me, how could I answer him?
15 Didn’t he who made me in my mother’s belly make them?
Didn’t the same God form us in the womb?

16 “If I have refused the requests of the poor
or made a widow’s eyes stop looking for help,
17 or have eaten my food alone
without letting the orphan eat any of it. . . .
18 (From my youth the orphan grew up with me
as though I were his father,
and from my birth I treated the widow kindly.)
19 If I have seen anyone die because he had no clothes
or a poor person going naked. . . .
20 (If his body didn’t bless me,
or the wool from my sheep didn’t keep him warm. . . .)
21 If I have shaken my fist at an orphan
because I knew that others would back me up in court,
22 then let my shoulder fall out of its socket,
and let my arm be broken at the elbow.

23 “A disaster from God terrifies me.
In the presence of his majesty I can do nothing.

24 “If I put my confidence in gold
or said to fine gold, ‘I trust you’. . . .
25 If I enjoyed being very rich
because my hand had found great wealth. . . .
26 If I saw the light shine
or the moon move along in its splendor
27 so that my heart was secretly tempted,
and I threw them a kiss with my hand,
28 then that, too, would be a criminal offense,
and I would have denied God above.

29 “If I enjoyed the ruin of my enemy
or celebrated when harm came to him
30 (even though I didn’t speak sinfully
by calling down a curse on his life). . . .

31 “If the people who were in my tent had said,
‘We wish we had never filled our stomachs with his food’. . . .
32 (The visitor never spent the night outside,
because I opened my door to the traveler.)

33 “If I have covered my disobedience like Adam
and kept my sin to myself,
34 because I dreaded the large, noisy crowd
and because the contempt of the local mobs terrified me
so that I kept quiet and didn’t go outside. . . .

35 “If only I had someone who would listen to me!
Look, here is my signature!
Let the Almighty answer me.
Let the prosecutor write his complaint on a scroll.
36 I would certainly carry it on my shoulder
and place it on my head like a crown.
37 I would tell him the number of my steps
and approach him like a prince.

38 “If my land has cried out against me,
and its furrows have wept. . . .
39 If I have eaten its produce without paying for it
and made its owners breathe their last,
40 then let it grow thistles instead of wheat,
and foul-smelling weeds instead of barley.”

This is the end of Job’s words.

Elihu Decides to Speak to Job

32 These three men stopped answering Job because Job thought he was righteous. Then Elihu, son of Barachel, a descendant of Buz from the family of Ram, became very angry with Job because Job thought he was more righteous than God. Elihu was also very angry with Job’s three friends because they had found no answer. They made it look as if God[a] were wrong. Elihu waited as they spoke to Job because they were older than he was. When Elihu saw that the three men had no further responses, he became very angry.

Elihu Speaks: The Reason for Elihu’s Discourse

So Elihu, son of Barachel, the descendant of Buz, replied to Job,

“I am young, and you are old.
That’s why I refrained from speaking
and was afraid to tell you what I know.
I thought, ‘Age should speak,
and experience should teach wisdom.’
However, there is in humans a Spirit,
the breath of the Almighty, that gives them understanding.
People do not become wise merely because they live long.
They don’t understand what justice is merely because they’re old.

10 “That is why I say, ‘Listen to me!
Let me tell you what I know.’
11 I waited for you to speak.
I listened for you to share your understanding
until you could find the right words.
12 I’ve paid close attention to you,
but none of you refuted Job.
None of you has an answer to what he says.
13 So don’t say, ‘We’ve found wisdom.
Let God, not humans, defeat him.’
14 Job did not choose his words to refute me,
so I won’t answer him with your speeches.

15 “Job’s friends have been overwhelmed and don’t have any more answers.
They don’t have another word to say.
16 Should I wait because they don’t speak,
because they stand there and don’t have any more answers?

17 “I’ll give my answer.
I’ll tell you what I know.
18 I’m full of words.
The Spirit within me forces me to speak.
19 My belly is like a bottle of wine that has not been opened,
like new wineskins that are ready to burst.
20 I must speak to get relief.
I must open my mouth and answer.
21 I won’t be partial toward anyone
or flatter anyone.
22 I don’t know how to flatter.
If I did, my maker would soon carry me away.

Elihu Continues: Listen, Job

“Please, Job, listen to my words
and consider everything I say.
I’ve opened my mouth.
The words are on the tip of my tongue.
My words are straight from the heart,
and I sincerely speak the knowledge that is on my lips.

“God’s Spirit has made me.
The breath of the Almighty gives me life.
Answer me if you can.
Present your case to me, and take your stand.
Indeed, I stand in front of God as you do.
I, too, was formed from a piece of clay.
You certainly don’t need to be terrified of me.
I won’t put too much pressure on you.

God Doesn’t Have to Answer You, Job

“But you spoke directly to me,
and I listened to your words.
You said, ‘I’m pure—without any rebellious acts against God.
I’m clean; I have no sin.
10 God is only looking for an excuse to attack me.
He considers me his enemy.
11 He puts my feet in the stocks and watches all my paths.’
12 You aren’t right about this!
I’ve got an answer for you:
God is greater than any mortal.
13 Why do you quarrel with him
since he doesn’t answer any questions?

Two Ways God Warns People

14 “God speaks in one way,
even in two ways without people noticing it:
15 In a dream, a prophetic vision at night,
when people fall into a deep sleep,
when they sleep on their beds,
16 he opens people’s ears
and terrifies them with warnings.
17 He warns them to turn away from doing wrong
and to stop being arrogant.[b]
18 He keeps their souls from the pit
and their lives from crossing the River of Death.
19 In pain on their sickbeds, they are disciplined
with endless aching in their bones
20 so that their whole being hates food
and they lose their appetite for a delicious meal.
21 Their flesh becomes so thin that it can’t be seen.
Their bones, not seen before, will be exposed.
22 Their souls approach the pit.
Their lives come close to those already dead.

A Third Way God Warns People

23 “If they have a messenger for them,
a spokesman, one in a thousand,
to tell people what is right for them,
24 then he will have pity on them and say,
‘Free them from going into the pit.
I have found a ransom.’
25 Then their flesh will become softer than a child’s.
They will go back to the days of their youth.
26 They will pray to God, who will be pleased with them.
They will see God’s face and shout for joy
as he restores their righteousness.[c]
27 Each one sings in front of other people and says,
‘I sinned and did wrong instead of what was right,
and it did me no good.
28 The messenger has freed my soul from going into the pit,
and my life will see the light.’
29 Truly, God does all this two or three times with people
30 to turn their souls away from the pit
and to enlighten them with the light of life.

Pay Attention, Job

31 “Pay attention, Job! Listen to me!
Keep quiet, and let me speak.
32 If you have a response, answer me.
Speak, because I’d be happy if you were right.
33 If not, you listen to me.
Keep quiet, and I’ll teach you wisdom.”

2 Corinthians 3

The Ministry That Comes from Christ Is Greater Than Moses’ Ministry

Do we have to show you our qualifications again? Do we, like some people, need letters that recommend us to you or letters from you that recommend us to others? You’re our letter of recommendation written in our hearts that everyone knows and reads. It’s clear that you are Christ’s letter, written as a result of our ministry. You are a letter written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, a letter written not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

Christ gives us confidence about you in God’s presence. By ourselves we are not qualified in any way to claim that we can do anything. Rather, God makes us qualified. He has also qualified us to be ministers of a new promise,[a] a spiritual promise, not a written one. Clearly, what was written brings death, but the Spirit brings life.

The ministry that brought death was inscribed on stone. Yet, it came with such glory that the people of Israel couldn’t look at Moses’ face. His face was shining with glory, even though that glory was fading. Won’t the ministry that brings the Spirit have even more glory? If the ministry that brings punishment has glory, then the ministry that brings God’s approval has an overwhelming glory. 10 In fact, the ministry that brings punishment lost its glory because of the superior glory of the other ministry. 11 If that former ministry faded away despite its glory, how much more does that ministry which remains continue to be glorious?

12 Since we have confidence in the new promise, we speak very boldly. 13 We are not like Moses. He kept covering his face with a veil. He didn’t want the people of Israel to see the glory fading away. 14 However, their minds became closed. In fact, to this day the same veil is still there when they read the Old Testament. It isn’t removed, because only Christ can remove it. 15 Yet, even today, when they read the books of Moses, a veil covers their minds. 16 But whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

17 This Lord is the Spirit. Wherever the Lord’s Spirit is, there is freedom. 18 As all of us reflect the Lord’s glory with faces that are not covered with veils, we are being changed into his image with ever-increasing glory. This comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Psalm 43

Psalm 43

Judge me, O God,
and plead my case against an ungodly nation.
Rescue me from deceitful and unjust people.
You are my fortress, O God!
Why have you rejected me?
Why must I walk around in mourning
while the enemy oppresses me?
Send your light and your truth.
Let them guide me.
Let them bring me to your holy mountain
and to your dwelling place.
Then let me go to the altar of God, to God my highest joy,
and I will give thanks to you on the lyre, O God, my God.

Why are you discouraged, my soul?
Why are you so restless?
Put your hope in God,
because I will still praise him.
He is my savior and my God.

Job 28:1-30:31 , 2 Corinthians 2:12-17 , Psalms 42:1-11 , Proverbs 22:7

Today is the 28th day of August. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It is a pleasure to be here with you today as we move through these final days of this month. But no matter what day or week or month it is we have a custom around here, and it’s always been the custom, we take the next step forward. And we do that by picking up where we left off yesterday, and that will lead us back into the book of Job. We’re reading from the Gods Word Translation and we’ll read Job 28, 29 and 30 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, how are you smelling today? Did you get a nice shower? Are you clean and sparkly? I mean, this is what Paul invited us to consider today, what we smell like. I mean, we know that if we leave our bodies unkempt, eventually we will be emitting an odor that is not welcome. It will be invisible but it’ll be repellent. Paul applies this to our spiritual lives. He says, God uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere like a sweet aroma. Our lives are a Christlike fragrance rising up to God. And aromas change atmospheres. I mean, just think about it. Some of you out there are like scented candle lovers and you’re always burning a candle. Doesn’t matter whether you are a candle burner or not. If you walk into a room where a scented candle has been burning you are greeted with an aroma that sets an atmosphere, right? If you walk into the kitchen and some chocolate chip cookies have just come out of the oven, the aroma not only sets the atmosphere, it may also persuade you into action. So, let’s think about it for second. What do you think your words smell like. What fragrance do your actions emit, right? Your thoughts, words, and deeds produce the aroma of Christ. Does the impact of your life alter the atmosphere in subtle yet real and profound ways when you offer your presence in the situation because you’re bringing the aroma of Christ, or is the fragrance of your life repellent? There is some pretty stark things to think about today. Let’s think about it. Let’s consider the aroma we are releasing into the world through the choices that we make, the conversations that we participate, and the actions that we take.

Prayer:

Father, we invite you into that. We don’t usually think about what we might smell like spiritually speaking. And yet considering whether the aroma of Christ is around our lives and in our homes is very poignant. And, so, Holy Spirit come, show us the things that are rotting and stinking in us and in our lives and relationships so that we might rid ourselves of what is foul and that the aroma of Christ may replace it. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hey family. This is Melisa. I’m calling for Jay from Tennessee. I heard your call Jay. And I just want you to know that I have prayed for you. First Corinthians 10:13 says, and God is faithful, He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. He provided you a way out and you took it and I’m so proud of you Jay. You could’ve done the opposite. So, you keep…stay the course. Don’t look to the right. Don’t look to the left. You look to Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. And know that we’re praying for you, we’re lifting you up. I have weightlifters and, you know, sometimes people gonna walk away from you. My first husband, he told me I didn’t dress sexy enough and I preached at him too much. But, you know, I’m living for Jesus regardless. You can walk away, you can stay but the Scriptures that helped me were Psalm 19:11, I’ve hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. And another one is Psalm 119:37, turn my eyes away from looking at worthless things. So, you hold on Jay. We’re praying for you. We’re lifting you up. You stay the course. Know that we’re praying for you and we love you brother. You all have a good day. Love you Brian and Jill. Bye-bye.

Hi this is Jerry calling from Duluth Minnesota. It’s been a while since I’ve called. I would appreciate your prayers greatly on behalf of my family, particularly my son in law. I have three daughters. All three who are married and their spouses have done stupid things or have abandoned them. Right now I am on my way to pick up a son a law that was arrested last night on domestic abuse and disorderly conduct because he was drunk and hit my daughter. And I’m picking him up and not quite sure what I’m going to say or do or what. He has been going through depression and, obviously, self-medicating with alcohol. He does know the Lord but he does, in my opinion, not following obviously the ways of what God would have him to do. A similar situation happened about a month ago and he vowed that he wasn’t going to drink again and well it’s happened again. So, it’s kinda like two strikes. The Bible says if we want wisdom we just ask of God __ and doesn’t abandon us. I pray that God would give us wisdom in this situation with our adult children and pray that you would also pray for us as well. Appreciate you all very much. God bless. Bye.

Jay, this is for you. To Be a Blessing from California. I heard your message from your girlfriend breaking up with you because you wanted to stand on the side of God. You knew where that situation was going and you said I’m not going to do it, I’m making a decision for Jesus. She was probably __ about what took place and then to feel rejected? But here’s the thing to think about. You know, as Christians, we can be Christians by action, which is what you did. We can be Christians by just lip service. And I don’t know about you but anyone else from the family lying around the campfire but I’ve been a Christian with lip service and I’ve been in similar situations. And, you know, men who are Christian and me being a Christian, it was all a go, all systems go. But God wants us to be different, to show the world who He is as to honor him by honoring others and honoring our bodies. So, I’m just praying for you because I know that hurts, but I also know that God’s got you and will keep you and will help you in all His ways. Acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. Thank you so much for sharing that. I’m sorry you’re hurting but I’m praying for you to get over the hurt and to continue to hold your head up and to look into the face of Jesus and say I want to follow You 110%. I am all in. God bless you. To Be a Blessing from California.

Hi, this is Tony from Germany and I’m calling in association with…a lot of the calls were made on August 25th. So, the one is about Terry the truck driver. And my heart goes out to you especially with the loss of your dog. I’m just celebrating having my kitty. I’m missing a person and having my kitty from eight years and he brings such joy. I’m just glad that the Lord protects him. So, my heart goes out to you. A lot of times when we were in a situation like this it’s a time to reassess. And from that what comes out of that if we are leaning into the Lord, many beautiful things are revealed and they help us grow or we are able to help others. But it has brought to mind that, perhaps we need to have a buddy system because what if you were unconscious and you could not call and we could not be supporting you in prayer. And, so, it’s just something that, you know, for example, maybe those who are not connected on Facebook with a Daily Audio Bible friend or otherwise connected, perhaps have your spouse or a loved one call us if something happens to you so that we can be supporting in prayer. And the other thing is, Emily from Australia, there is hope if what you’re dealing, it’s not in your mind but your doctor may need your help. It typically needs to be a partnership. Research, research, research and together you and your doctor will be able to find out what is going on. There is hope. You will get better…

Job 28-30

Job Continues: Wisdom Is Inaccessible to Humans

“There is a place where silver is mined
and a place where gold is refined.
Iron is taken from the ground,
and rocks are melted for their copper.
Humans bring an end to darkness there
and search to the limit of the gloomy, pitch-black rock.
They open up a mineshaft far from civilization,
where no one has set foot.
In this shaft men dangle and swing back and forth.

“Above the ground food grows,
but beneath it the food decays as if it were burned by fire.
That place’s stones are sapphire.[a]
Its dust contains gold.
No bird of prey knows the way to it.
No hawk’s eye has ever seen it.
No proud beast has ever walked on it.
No ferocious lion has ever passed over it.

“Humans exert their power on the flinty rocks
and overturn mountains at their base.
10 They cut out mineshafts in the rocks.
Their eyes see every precious thing.
11 They explore[b] the sources of rivers
so that they bring hidden treasures to light.

Wisdom Is Inaccessible to Decay and Death

12 “Where can wisdom be found?
Where does understanding live?
13 No mortal knows where it is.[c]
It cannot be found in this world of the living.
14 The deep ocean says, ‘It isn’t in me.’
The sea says, ‘It isn’t with me.’
15 You cannot obtain it with solid gold
or buy it for any amount of silver.
16 It can’t be bought with the gold from Ophir
or with precious onyx or sapphire.
17 Neither gold nor glass can equal its value.
Nor can gold ornaments, jewels, or crystal[d]
18 be exchanged for it.
Wisdom is more valuable than gems.
19 Topaz from Ethiopia cannot equal its value.
It cannot be bought for any amount of pure gold.

20 “Where does wisdom come from?
Where does understanding live?
21 It is hidden from the eyes of every living being,
hidden even from the birds in the air.
22 Decay and Death say,
‘We’ve heard a rumor about it.’

Wisdom Is Accessible Only to the Creator

23 “God understands the way to it.
He knows where it lives
24 because he can see to the ends of the earth
and observe everything under heaven.
25 When he gave the wind its force
and measured the water in the sea,
26 when he made rules for the rain
and set paths for the thunderstorms,
27 then he saw it and announced it.
He confirmed it and examined it.
28 So he told humans,
‘The fear of the Lord is wisdom!
To stay away from evil is understanding.’”

Job Continues: My Glorious Past

Job continued his poems and said,

“If only my life could be like it used to be,
in the days when God watched over me,
when he made his lamp shine on my head,
when I walked through the dark in his light.
If only I were in the prime of my life again,
when God was an adviser in my tent.
When the Almighty was still with me
and my children were around me,
my steps were bathed in buttermilk,
and the rocks poured streams of olive oil on me.
When I went through the city gate
and took my seat in the town square,
young men saw me and kept out of sight.
Old men stood up straight out of respect for me.
Princes held back their words
and put their hands over their mouths.
10 The voices of nobles were hushed,
and their tongues stuck to the roofs of their mouths.

11 Any ears that heard me blessed me.
Any eyes that saw me spoke well of me,
12 because I rescued the poor who called for help
and the orphans who had no one to help them.
13 I received a blessing from the dying.
I made the widow’s heart sing for joy.
14 I put on righteousness, and it was my clothing.
I practiced justice, and it was my robe and my turban.
15 I was eyes for the blind person.
I was feet for the lame person.
16 I was father to the needy.
I carefully investigated cases brought by strangers.
17 I broke the teeth of the wicked person
and made him drop the prey out of his mouth.

18 “I thought, ‘I may die in my own house,
but I will make my days as numerous as the sand.
19 My roots will grow toward the water,
and dew will lie on my branches all night.
20 My power will be fresh every day,
and the bow in my hand will remain new.’

21 “People listened to me eagerly,
quietly waiting for my advice.
22 After I had spoken, they wouldn’t speak again.
After all, my words fell gently on them.
23 They were as eager to hear me as they were for rain.
They opened their mouths wide as if waiting for a spring shower.
24 When I smiled at them, they could hardly believe it,
but the expression on my face did not change.[e]
25 I decided how they should live.
I sat as their leader.
I lived like a king among his troops,
like one who comforts mourners.

Job Talks about His Present Misery

“But now those who are younger than I am laugh at me.
I didn’t think their fathers were fit to sit with the dogs of my flock.
Of what use to me was the strength of their hands?
Their strength is gone.
Shriveled up from need and hunger,
they gnaw at the dry and barren ground during the night.[f]
They pick saltwort from the underbrush,
and the roots of the broom plant are their food.[g]
They are driven from the community.
People shout at them in the same way they shout at thieves.
They have to live in dry riverbeds,
in holes in the ground, and among rocks.
They howl in bushes
and huddle together under thornbushes.
Godless fools and worthless people
are forced out of the land with whips.

“And now they make fun of me with songs.
I have become a joke to them.
10 Since they consider me disgusting, they keep their distance from me
and don’t hesitate to spit in my face.
11 Because God has untied my cord and has made me suffer,
they are no longer restrained in my presence.
12 They have attacked me on my right side like a mob.
They trip my feet
and then prepare ways to destroy me.[h]
13 Yes, they remove all traces of my path in order to destroy me.
No one is there to help me against them.
14 They come through a wide hole in the wall.
They crawl through the ruins.
15 Terrors are directed toward me.
They blow away my dignity like the wind.
My prosperity vanishes like a cloud.

16 “Now my life is pouring out of me.
Days of suffering seize me.
17 At night God pierces my bones.
My body[i] doesn’t rest.
18 With great strength he grabs my clothes.
He seizes me by the collar of my robe.
19 He throws me into the dirt
so that I become like dust and ashes.

Job Calls on God for Help

20 “I call to you for help,
but you don’t answer me.
I stand up, but you just look at me.
21 You have begun to treat me cruelly.
With your mighty hand you assault me.
22 You pick me up and let the wind carry me away.
You toss me around with a storm.
23 I know you will lead me to death,
to the dwelling place appointed for all living beings.

Job Says: I Am Being Punished by God

24 “But God doesn’t stretch out his hand against one who is ruined
when that person calls for help in his disaster.
25 Didn’t I cry for the person whose days were difficult?
Didn’t my soul grieve for the poor?
26 When I waited for good, evil came.
When I looked for light, darkness came.
27 My insides are churning and won’t calm down.
Days of misery are ahead of me.
28 I walk in the dark without the sun.
I stand up in public and call for help.
29 I’m a brother to jackals
and a companion of ostriches.
30 My skin turns dark and peels.
My body burns with fever.
31 So my lyre is used for mourning
and my flute for loud weeping.

2 Corinthians 2:12-17

Paul’s Mission as Christ’s Spokesman

12 When I went to the city of Troas, the Lord gave me an opportunity to spread the Good News about Christ. 13 But I didn’t have any peace of mind, because I couldn’t find Titus, our brother, there. So I said goodbye to the people in Troas and went to the province of Macedonia.

14 But I thank God, who always leads us in victory because of Christ. Wherever we go, God uses us to make clear what it means to know Christ. It’s like a fragrance that fills the air. 15 To God we are the aroma of Christ among those who are saved and among those who are dying. 16 To some people we are a deadly fragrance, while to others we are a life-giving fragrance.

Who is qualified to tell about Christ? 17 At least we don’t go around selling an impure word of God like many others. The opposite is true. As Christ’s spokesmen and in God’s presence, we speak the pure message that comes from God.

Psalm 42

BOOK TWO

(Psalms 42–72)

Psalm 42

For the choir director; a maskil[a] by Korah’s descendants.

As a deer longs for flowing streams,
so my soul longs for you, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When may I come to see God’s face?
My tears are my food day and night.
People ask me all day long, “Where is your God?”
I will remember these things as I pour out my soul:
how I used to walk with the crowd
and lead it in a procession to God’s house.
I sang songs of joy and thanksgiving
while crowds of people celebrated a festival.

Why are you discouraged, my soul?
Why are you so restless?
Put your hope in God,
because I will still praise him.
He is my savior and my God.

My soul is discouraged.
That is why I will remember you
in the land of Jordan, on the peaks of Hermon, on Mount Mizar.
One deep sea calls to another at the roar of your waterspouts.
All the whitecaps on your waves have swept over me.[b]
The Lord commands his mercy during the day,
and at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.
I will ask God, my rock,
“Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I walk around in mourning
while the enemy oppresses me?”
10 With a shattering blow to my bones,
my enemies taunt me.
They ask me all day long, “Where is your God?”

11 Why are you discouraged, my soul?
Why are you so restless?
Put your hope in God,
because I will still praise him.
He is my savior and my God.

Job 23:1-27:23 , 2 Corinthians 1:12-2:11 , Psalms 41:1-13 , Proverbs 22:5-6

Today is the 27th day of August. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian and it is my pleasure to be here with you today around this global campfire. I’ve thrown a couple logs on and it burns on and we come out of the dark and out of the challenges and chaos of life and center ourselves in the word of God. And we’re working our way through the book of Job right now. So, we’ll pick up where we left off. And we’re reading from the Gods Word Translation this week. Job, chapter 23, 24 , 25 ,26 and 27 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, as we continue this journey through the book of Job we’ve had the opportunity to watch a conversation between friends move from comfort into a full-blown argument over what God does and does not do. And in today’s reading we listen to Job’s passionate descriptions of what he had seen of God’s movements in the world. And as has been the case throughout, Job’s friends then attempt to explain why he’s seen these movements, but all of their explanations to the why questions they’re not enough for Job. No one could really answer why God or does not do something, except for God, which is what he’d been saying all along. If I only knew where to find God, right? I would go there. I would go to where He lives and ask my questions. And Job and his friends had gotten themselves into a bit of what is a circular argument. On one hand, Job was looking for answers from God himself, but couldn’t find him. On the other hand, Job’s friends kept trying to tell Job that only the righteous can hope to find God, right? So, Job must not be as righteous as he thought he was. Well then Job would be talked out of his pursuits of declaring his innocence before God, right? He says, as long as I live, as long as I’m, as long as I’m breathing, my lips are not going to speak evil and my tongue will speak no lies. I am not going concede that you’re right, I’m going to hold on to my integrity until I die. So, I mean, so basically, Job drew a line in the sand. He’d pursue God’s presence, even if it killed him and he would hope in God, even if that proved hopeless. Now, this is not the kind of stuff we normally think about. This is the kind of stuff we think about suffering, right? It’s a whole lot easier to pass out the right answer or to receive the right answer when life is pretty stable, but Job’s life was not…like…anything but stable. His life is upside down and the only place that he felt that he could go to get any sense of balance was to God’s presence. And this gives us a chance to consider our own posture when we’re asking the why questions. I mean, are we pursuing God so that he’ll take it all away…you know…take the struggle, the hardship, the difficulty away. What if he doesn’t? Why are we pursuing God? Job was pursuing God to find answers to unanswerable questions and to find wisdom beyond wisdom. Job’s friends were telling Job why he couldn’t do this. Why are you pursuing God?

Prayer:

Father, we come into that question. We’ve been led into this territory by your word because you want to bring these things up in us. And, so, as they arise we bring them to you and invite your Holy Spirit to reinterpret for us all of our toil and to invite us to consider why it is we are pursuing you. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.

Announcements:

dailyaudiobible.com is the website, its home base, its where you find out what’s going on around here.

And man, few days from now, it’s going to be the first ever Daily Audio Bible family reunion. That will be taking place here in the rolling hills of Tennessee. And we’re excited. We’re looking forward to it very, very much. I mean., this event sold out way faster than we thought. And, so, we’ve been thinking, how can we bring everybody in for a little while? And we’ll be doing a Facebook Live from the Daily Audio Bible Family Reunion this Saturday night, September 1st at 8 PM Central Standard Time. So, if you are in the United States that would mean 9 PM on the East Coast , 7 PM in the Mountain time zone, and 6 PM on the West Coast. If you are in the UK or in Europe…I think that’s going to be about seven, eight hours ahead. If you are in Australia,  maybe a different day, but you couldn’t just Google the time difference between wherever you are and the central time zone or Nashville. And this will be taking place on the Daily Audio  Bible Facebook page, which is Facebook.com/dailyaudiobible. So, plan to come virtually. Come, join in, fellowship with each other, talk to one another, chat with one another for a little while. And we’ll make this family reunion that is taking place in a specific geographical zone and time and place, we’ll make it virtual and draw all of us in for little bit of fellowship together. So that’s this Saturday evening, 8 PM central time. Hope to see you there.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, you can do that at dailyaudiobible.com and I thank you, thank you humbly, thank you profoundly for your partnership as we move through the summer. Community Prayer and Praise:

Good morning DAB family. This is Chanel from Arizona. I’m a first time caller; however, I’ve been listening for many years and I enjoy joining with you all and interceding for one another and shouldering one another’s burdens. I’m calling today for prayer for myself. I am 41 years old and find myself back in school pursuing a degree in naturopathic medicine. Along the way I have trusted God and felt as though each step that I take in obedience He will change his mind. However, each day I find myself closer and closer to being kind of smack dab in the middle of a new season. And I truly believe in the power of prayer and I just ask that you all would join me in just helping me ensure that I am exactly where God wants me and that I am bringing glory in every situation I find myself in. And, so, I thank you all for your prayers. I pray for you all daily and I get my strength in just the support that we offer each day. Brian and Jill thank you so much for this ministry and I will definitely call back again. Thank you.

Hey family. This is Viola from Maryland and hope you’re all doing well. Brian and Jill, God bless you. Hey Jill, I’ve been reading the account of you to Ezekiel going to school for the first time [laughing]. Don’t worry, he’ll feel better real soon. And I pray that the Lord will touch him and heal him. I was reading that on Facebook today. God bless you. God bless you Brian. God bless your ministry. It’s almost down to the wire for your reunion. I wish that I could be there. Oh, Angel, woop, woop, woop, woop, woop, for our Lord Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! I was rejoicing. I was dancing without music when I heard you talking about the miracle that God __ and how your surgery went well. My sister, I am so grateful to the Lord on your behalf. I rejoice with you. God bless you. Our brother from Canada you had called in saying that you’re in the ministry but you also have a business and your seeking direction. Look, this is the best place to be in. You know, because the Lord says that if you lack wisdom when you ask I give you liberally. Father Lord I pray that you will direct your son. You will give him oh God, even make a way for him oh God Lord. Open up those__ right paths. Let him know each step to take, whether to the left or to the right. Let him hear Your voice in his ears in the name of Jesus. My brother Adam, I know that your wife would have given birth now. So, congratulations and I’m praying that God will heal her from the effects of afterbirth and I pray that all of you will adjust to the new baby in the home. It’s wonderful when a new baby comes. Let the Lord bless you my brother. And, No One Left Behind, happy anniversary. God bless you. And I’m also praying for the sister that called in, I forget your name sister, but I’m praying that the Lord will touch your marriage and the Lord will heal your marriage. He is still in the business of healing. Our God is a prayer answering God and I command every attack of the devil to cease in your life right now in the name of Jesus. and I pray for everyone else struggling in their marriages in the Daily Audio Bible family. I pray that the Lord will touch you, the Lord greet you and the Lord will make everything…

Good morning. This call is for Sandy from Amarillo. She called I think on the 21st. I’m getting out of my comfort zone to call in and reach out to her. She gave her child up for adoption in 1962 and has recently been contacted by her child. I want you to know that you’re not alone. You’re never alone. There’s many of us out here that have reunited with our biological children that we didn’t raise. And I’m sure there’s joy for most of us and maybe a little sadness for some. You didn’t say whether you were on ancestry.com or not and that’s how you got reunited but I’m sure that there’ll be many, many, many more stories of reuniting with loved ones. They are loved ones. They were given a chance at something better that we couldn’t provide for them at the time. And I think, for the most part, they probably appreciate the sacrifices that were done for them to have a good life. I just want you to know I’m praying for you. I pray, pray, pray that everything goes well. In my situation it was joyous, it is joyous, and that joy has continued on for two years past the reuniting. I don’t see him often but there’s still joy in my heart that God gave me that wonderful gift, wonderful gift. I love you Sandy. I hope that everything would…

Hello. My name is Latasha. I’m calling from California and I am seeking prayer in the way of guidance, understanding, and protection for both myself and my children. I hope and I pray that God will deliver us from all harm. I hope and I pray that God will guide us to the best place possible. I hope and I pray that God will send us a shield of protection from all principalities, all words in deeds that are hurtful and harmful to our sustainability. I pray that my Lord and Savior will forgive us of any sins that we may have committed and that He would just hold us near and dear to Him. I pray that the path before us be made clean and that no hardship or misunderstanding will be placed before us. I pray that we will be able to live a life that is full, guided with the words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I pray these things in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, that we will be made new and fresh and clean from the top of our heads to the soles of our feet inside and outside of our bodies. I pray that we will just be able to help those who can’t help themselves to be a learning experience for others. And I pray that we’re made whole in His name. Thank you. Bye-bye.
