2 Chronicles 8:11-10:19, Romans 8:9-23 , Psalms 18:16-24, Proverbs 19:26

Today is the 24th day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It’s great to be here with you today. How ya doing, by the way? Hope things are well whatever you might be. And if they’re challenging, well, and I’m sure that they are for all of us. This is our time. The time to set that aside, all those consuming thoughts, and center ourselves in something good. And allow the word of God to wash into our lives. So, let’s do that. We’re reading from the New Living Translation this week. And picking up where we left off yesterday. 2 Chronicles 11:1-13:22 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, weve entered into the writings of the Apostle Paul. Obviously, we’re working our way through Romans, which is the first of his letters that appears in the Bible but certainly won’t be the last. We’ll be travelling with Paul for a while. And Paul will bring us to these vistas, to these mountain top views from time to time where we can see the scope, the whole horizon of our faith. So, often we’re moving through the Bible, we’re being encouraged every day to endure, we’re being encouraged to press on and we’re being encouraged that this is going somewhere. This helps us. This helps us to keep moving one foot in front of the other forward in our lives and in our relationship with God. But sometimes we come to the implications of what this all means and we can see this horizon and it’s hard to take in. You have to sit with it. And we’re at one of those vistas today. So, Paul was essentially outlining the fact that Jesus was the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. But firstborn of what? What does that mean? Essentially, Paul’s telling us that Jesus’ resurrection began a new thing on planet earth. One that hadn’t been seen since Eden. And this new thing was the reunification of God and man. And we’re not separated from God by sin anymore. Instead, we’ve been reborn into this new family of God, of which Jesus was the firstborn. Where sin no longer has a claim to our soul. It’s the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead that lives in us. So, for believers in Jesus, and we’re reading about ourselves in the Scriptures today. And becoming truly aware of these implications of this horizon is beyond words. And Paul basically says that. What shall we say about such wonderful things as these, the Apostle Paul asked. And then he answered the question, which is also pretty massive. If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Who dares accuse us when God has chosen for his own, Paul wrote. No one. For God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who will then condemn us? No one. For Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us. And he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us. I mean, that is so massive. How is it that we can forget this at some point at least every day? What if we took this in, mediated on it, let it sink and seep into our souls and began to live from this place? Live to this day like that was the truth? We can apply these things to what we’re facing and in light of this truth, everything changes. The atmosphere changes. So, it’s not that the wrinkles are gonna disappear from our lives. It’s that we’re going to radically alter our perspective when we truly become aware of what’s really going on. So, let’s remember today nothing can separate us from the love of God. Nothing.

Prayer:

So, Father, we receive Your love. We invite Your love. We invite You to come now. We become aware of Your presence. We feel You surrounding us. We feel You within us. Nothing can separate us from Your love. And You are for us, so who can be against us? And we realize that this has nothing to do with the challenges that we might face today and everything to do with how we’re going to respond. Come Holy Spirit and let us navigate this day as mature sons and daughters of the Most High God. We ask this in Jesus name, a name that makes this all possible. Come Holy Spirit, we pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi family. It’s Tamika from Carlisle. I was just reaching out because I really need some assistance and prayer for my family and me. My girls…I have four children…and my two oldest want to go live with their dad for a year but I can’t…that’s what they said…but I haven’t seen them in about a month either. So, I get a lot of emotions with that but on top of that I know that I don’t really want them here because of the horrible crimes and things that are happening right here in my neighborhood. I know I don’t want them here either and I can’t provide anything better. So, I agree with it but I know it’s going to set war the rest of my family. Nobody wants me to let him do this because it’s all about money for them. But I just want them to have the best shot. And I haven’t been able to do that. I haven’t been able to give that to them. So, now I’m out of work. I’m trying to go back. I’m trying to go back to Ultra, the only thing that I know that I make good money from and don’t have to train. But I got in trouble. I don’t have a license. I have to pay for transportation for the next year to matter what. So, it’s so much harder. Family please, I never wanted a job so bad in my life and never need to work so bad. By this time next year I want all my kids together in one house. Please. Thank you.

Like Satan I was stubborn and I had to be the best
hard driving impatient and cut above the rest
insensitive self-reliant and chronically independent
I even tried to compete with God
was I crazy or just demented
demented now that’s the perfect word

it has that demonic sound
and demons did control my life
they ran me in the ground
it had to be for self-esteem
that may be independent
independence made me critical egotistical and a cynic
being critical and egotistical has led to isolation
isolation led me into sin and lots of aggravation
once your deep within the sin you’re far away from God
and once again poor self-esteem will start to make you feel odd
the cycle just repeats itself
you know you just can’t win
unless some way you can get to God
and make the cycle end

now how does one get back to God
there are many different theories
I guess that’s where a lot give up
the spirit often wearies
especially if their Spirit isn’t one that’s from the Lord
Satan tries to make it hard for us to get restored
but really it’s quite simple accept and disagree
deliverance is a gift my friend that’s absolutely free
you can learn to be dependent God will always help you too
stay humble and compassionate because love will bring you through
and as your walk in faith get stronger you once again become God’s son
the cycle will be broken and the battle can be one
but there’ll be other battles and other victories too
as long as you stay close to God but the choice is up to you

blindtony1016@gmail.com. Egbert Lopez, Tracy Baker hope you both still hanging in there. Know your loved and thought of and in my prayers every day. And once again, Brian thank you for this wonderful podcast for God’s Holy Spirit to flow. Keep it flown’ y’all. All right. Bye-bye.

Hello my fellow friends, Daily Audio Bible. I am Margaret the Sinner. I have been listening to DAB for the past seven years. I’ve not called in very often. My petition today is I’m having severe stomach issues, don’t know what is going on, praying about it and hoping that you will pray with me that this can be resolved. I also, right now want to reach out to Terry the Truck Driver. Oh my gosh, you are a saint. You are a saint. I’ve been listening for so many years and when I hear your voice and I hear your petitions I am right there with you my brother. I love you and I pray for all of your petitions to our dear Lord Jesus. Annette Allison, it goes without saying. The teacher, James, the teacher from LA I just heard your petition today. My dear brother, I am right there with you. Victoria Soldier, you are my rock. I love you. So wonderful. I love you so much. God bless you all my Daily Audio Bible family. I will call again. Rebecca from Michigan. Let me not stop there. Rebecca from Michigan. You are so awesome I need to hear from you again. Please pray for me, for my stomach issues and I pray for you every day. I listen every day, every day for last seven years. God bless you. Thank you Brian. Thank you Jill. God bless you.

Hey DABbers. This is slave of Jesus from North Carolina. All right, Holy Spirit let’s roll. It is 11:59 PM but I had to take my mask off and pick up the phone and call because I just heard James the teacher in LA calling. He needs prayer for his marriage so let’s do that. Lord, ask You to watch over James in his marriage. I ask You to give him the wisdom of Solomon of how to deal with his wife’s depression but Lord, I ask you to watch him, teach him his ways, that a cancer, that the wondering mind…today on July 22nd I urge you to go back and listen to this Daily Audio Bible. And Brian’s reading so apropos that you’re calling about this issue as he talks about we do what we don’t want to do. And I think it’s in Mark and he talks about this but, yeah, just go back and listen to that and pray to that. He talks about how, you know, it’s dealing with our mind and that is really where it’s at. So, when our mind is elsewhere, it’s not with our marriage, it’s going to destroy it like cancer. You may think about something, I don’t like to give advice or anything but in my experience, in my experience, when my wife is dealing with all kinds of stuff it was going to counseling together, couples counseling. And it’s something I did with her because of my other actions. But eventually I just stopped going and then she kept going. It’s the best 90 bucks per session that we ever spent in our budget that really helps my wife dealing with all kinds of other things. But it started with me agreeing to go with her to a couples counseling. So, I don’t know. That’s what worked for us to get her started. So, love you all best. Have a great day. Bye. __ this call halfway around the world is going through because it was a little bit garbled the first two times I called. Love you all. Have a great day.

2 Chronicles 8:11-10:19, Romans 8:9-23 , Psalms 18:16-34, Proverbs 19:26

Today is the 23rd day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It’s wonderful to be here with you as we step into this new work week and continue to take steps forward through our lives, through the Scriptures and through this year. We’re reading from the New Living Translation this week and we’ll pick up where we left off. 2 Chronicles 8:11-10-19 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, as we’ve been following the letter to the Romans written by the Apostle Paul, we’ve obviously been following his argument for Jesus and the good news and the announcement of what it means to humanity. Today, man, today… it’s worth going back and reading again. Because the implications, like what it actually means to our lives for those of us who believe and have put our faith in this, it’s astounding. So, Paul said today, the Spirit of God. Alright, let’s stop there. Can we even comprehend what we’re talking about? The Spirit, right? The animating life force of the God of all, the Almighty, the Lord of heaven’s armies, that spirit. The Spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead, that spirit lives in you. If I had a mic that wasn’t attached to a stand, I would drop it. I mean, what else is there to say? That reality can be contemplated the rest of our lives. So, taking a moment and separating that from a theological concept or some kind of metaphor and actually considering it as a reality. The Spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead lives in me. What if we actually embrace that reality? Which we are supposed to do. What would that change? How would today change if that is how we walked around and that is what you believed? The Spirit of the living God, the one who raised Christ from the dead, lives in me. And that changes everything, right? We can never rightfully walk around on this earth and say, God has abandoned me, I don’t know where he went, I don’t know. The Spirit of the living God is within you. How can he abandon you? He’s wherever you are. He’s within you. So, Paul drops that bomb. And right on the heels of it, immediately following that he said, You have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do, right? In other words, this is a choice. You don’t have any obligation to do what you know is wrong. For if you live that way, you’re going to die. But through the power of the Spirit, the same one that raised Jesus from the dead, the Spirit of the living God, the Holy Spirit. If by that spirit we put to death the deeds of our sinful nature, we will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. And that’s just another bombshell that was dropped today. Another mic drop. But there’s more. Since we are his children, we are his heirs. Can you think about that for a second? An heir of God? I mean, how would you even articulate what you are set up to inherit if you are an heir of God? According to Paul, we’re joint heirs with Jesus which makes us heirs of God’s glory. I mean, holy cow! It’s like so good and so big and so vast, there’s no way for us to even get our mind around it. But, according to Paul, if we’re going to share in his glory than we also must endure and share in his suffering. And Paul’s speaking directly to a people who are under oppression. They are being persecuted. They are opposed. They are marginalized. So, it’s a word of encouragement, of endurance. And he goes on to actually unpack that. What we’re suffering now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. So, you can apply that to your own life. What you’re going through right now may indeed be very, very difficult. Listen, I mean, I get it. There are all kinds of circumstances that are difficult to navigate through, you know? This is perfecting us. And we need to grow in strength and loyalty if we’re to grow into what’s said here. I mean, come on. If Amazon shows up at your door today with a big box that’s full of God’s glory, which obviously I know that can’t happen, but would you be ready to receive that gift? How would that look on you? We can say God’s glory would look great on me, but God’s glory is an all consuming fire. Are we ready for this? And what would our lives look like if we walked around in that kind of humble authority, navigating this life, above it all, looking at life’s circumstances through the glory of the Lord, understanding exactly what was really going on, and being the hands and feet of Jesus in this world? Navigating as he did. Becoming Christ-like, in other words. This is all available. So, we’ve reached this point in Romans and it’s like, if this is all true, than we are living so much less than is available to us. It’s…it’s not even funny. It’s actually sad. Because if the church of Jesus Christ lived into what the Scriptures are saying to us, we could change the world. No joke. We could change the world. So, consider this today. Maybe spend some more time in Romans 8 today. Contemplate this today. Look at the ways in which you’re living less. It is important that we rise up and become the more and live into the more and take and learn to wield the authority that is given to us by God through Jesus. So, imagine what beginning to live into this fully will look like for you and invite the Holy Spirit, the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead, the one that lives in you, to lead you and guide you forward to the next set of decisions.

Prayer:

Spirit of God, Holy Spirit, we invite You to come. This is some big stuff. I mean, these are famous passages in the Scriptures and we can just blow through them, but the implications are overwhelming. They’re really bigger than we can comprehend, that we know how to comprehend. So come Holy Spirit we pray. Plant these words in our lives and make them more than words, make them realities. Show us how to fully live into this, we ask in Jesus name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Yeah hi. This is Matthew from Sydney Australia. I’d just like to ask you guys for prayer because I just went to the eye doctor and need to get a new pair of glasses and it cost me $500, Australian dollars at this. And, basically, I don’t have the money for it at the moment. I’m having to save up and pay for it but hopefully God will provide for that. Also pray for me because I started at a new church and I want to know if God really wants me there. I think he does. But, yeah. So just…just pray for these things. And, yeah, I just started listening to the Daily Audio Bible about three days ago and I love it. I think it’s a blessing for anybody who here’s it. So, keep up the good work guys. And yeah. Cheerio for now.

Hello my beautiful Daily Audio Bible family. This is Tolou calling from Canada and I just had to call in this morning. As I listened to your voices I prayed with you, laughed with you, and cried with you. And I realized this year that I do want to do life more with you. So, that’s my calling. I just want to read words from Psalms 121 and I pray that for everyone out there, whatever you may be going to that the word of God will bring you comfort and will bring you strength. And it says, I lift up my eyes to the mountains. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. And these words came back to me today as I was driving in. It’s just before 9 AM here. It’s a very cloudy day and there’s so much haze in the sky. Usually I can see the Canadian Rocky Mountains as I drive into work but today I can’t because it’s all obscured by clouds. And I realize that even though I can see those mountains in their majesty as I normally do, it doesn’t change the fact that they are there. They are still there, I just can’t see them right now because it’s a cloudy day. And I just want to encourage you, if you are going through a cloudy day, please just remember that our Lord, our heavenly Father is there. Even though you can’t see him and even though things you do may not really remind you but He is ever present with you. He is the maker of the mountains, the maker of heaven and earth and He is the one our help comes from. So be encouraged today. We live by faith and not by sight. A wonderful, wonderful day. I love you. God bless you. Tolou from Canada.

Hi everyone. My name is Tara. I’m from the District of Columbia. I’m a first-time listener and a new Christian. I was diagnosed one month ago with multiple sclerosis and I could really use your prayers and encouragement. I want to just share a verse that’s helped me through the past four weeks. It’s Psalm 41 verse 1-3. Blessed are those who have regard for the week our Lord delivers them in times of trouble. The Lord protects and preserves them. They are counted among the blessed in the land. He does not hand them over to the desire of their foes. The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness. Thanks everyone. I’ll be thinking of all of you and God bless.

Hey Daily Audio Bible. This is Jeff, formerly from Massachusetts, formerly from Virginia Tech. I’ve graduated and I am moving on to a new life in Jesus. I’m currently living in a community of men who do youth ministry. And, so, I live with a few priests, a few consecrated men, and the rest are lay people like myself. So, I’d ask that you to pray for us, pray for our community, pray for those who we outreach to. I graduated with a degree in philosophy and discerning the priesthood, discerning consecrated life, discerning, you know, what my next steps are. And I’d ask you to pray for my vocation and for all young men and women who are discerning their vocation. Please pray for all my friends who I go to school with. Please pray for them in their walk with our Lord as they continue to grow in faith and love. Please, keep in your heart all those who are ensnared by the devil, all those who practice Satanism or any form of witchcraft or anything like that. These pray for those who are under the devil’s possession and that they might be released from that. I ask you to pray for all of those who suffering from mental or physical illness, those with depression, anxiety, drug addiction, alcoholism. I ask that you pray for my family, my brother as he is about to be married and he is currently engaged. And please pray for my mom and dad who I love. I ask this in Jesus name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi Daily Audio Bible members. This is Demetri calling back from Portland. Just wanted to give a quick update and thank everyone for praying for our marriage and our family. We’re doing a lot better. God’s been good and been getting us closer and closer to each other. So, thank you for that. Like always, thanks to everyone who prayed for us. And I wanted to ask for another prayer. Me and my wife are moving to Washington DC for three months. She got an internship at the White House and we’re excited to have the opportunity and we wanted you guys to pray for us so everything goes well there, specifically, pray for us to find housing there. It’s been very difficult looking for a place to stay. If you guys can pray for that and if anyone has any ideas who maybe live around the area that can give us any kind of pointers that we would love to hear from anybody about what we can do. My email kivasa@gmail.com. Thank you very much for everybody for your prayers and I’ll be looking forward to hearing from anybody. And thank you again for praying for us and keep lifting your prayers. And then this is Demetri from Portland. Thanks again. Love you. Bye-bye.

Sharon in St. Louis here guys. Hey, the Lord’s really been impressing upon my heart just in the midst of this…during the summer it’s just been an onslaught that I would either react with flash or in Spirit and He’s just really been impressing upon me about the power of the Holy Spirit and I wanted to share that with you. The Holy Spirit is such a gift, it draws us to reconciliation to God. The Holy Spirit breathes new life in us to convict our hearts, not only for salvation, but also as we walk this side of heaven because we are still sinners just saved by grace . So, the Holy Spirit convicts us when we use Him. And we should not grieve the Holy Spirit. It also gives us…the Holy Spirit gives us illumination and revelation in the word. And you can read the Bible, but if you don’t have the Holy Spirit you’re not going to have __ reading that Bible. He guides us into all truth. So, when you start having the Holy Spirit working as your reading the word you really grasp the truth of the word. And even Jesus meditated on the Scriptures. So, it’s important for us to be in the word but also to pray. And so, He gives us wisdom in situations. He gives us power in temptation because we will be tempted. He gives us power not to react or get angry or fearful while where in the midst of hard situations in this fallen world. He is our helper and He is our comforter when no word or works can do that. He gives us fruit as we abide in Christ. So, the Holy Spirit, just pray to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Important part of our trying God. I love you all. God bless you.

He daily on the Bible family it’s James P. I need you guys to pray for me and my marriage. Talking it over with my wife in the last couple of weeks, I think we’ve both come to the conclusion that she’s facing a bout of depression. Frankly, I think it’s been going for…at least since our latest daughter was born seven months ago if not longer. And, you know, a lot of it was masked by her pregnancy. And you might think it was postpartum depression but it’s really developed more recently and not even with that. And after our first child she had a round of it and we were able to get her extra support…but it’s bad. I need help. And honestly, I have been kind of not on top of it with my Master’s program the last two years. I got to a point of wallowing in guilt for feeling shut out of our relationship and seeking comfort in pornography to the point where I didn’t have the courage to then speak out and say something to her. But we’ve started to talk about it. But haven’t been to a doctor yet, haven’t gotten any kind of diagnosis. And she’s been diagnosed with it before. So, this isn’t her first time. I just need you guys to pray because, while we recognize there is as an issue, taking action is hard. And talking to people without being afraid is hard. Hard for me to call you guys. So…

Hi. This is Victoria Soldier calling to pray with some of the DABbers. I wanted to pray for Bernie’s mother, Rosemarie. I want to say congratulations to Matthew for your nine year anniversary. And Lord, thank You for the word and I’m just glad that the Lord’s word is blessing you and continue to bless because that’s what we are…the light of this world. I want to pray for Michael, Michael who’s going through…pray for his mother and his sister and his brother. And I’m sorry to hear that you lost your little brother and let you know that my heart is with you. And I’m definitely praying for you, that God continue to have…continue to give you the good things and continue to give you the healing for your family and direction and strength in your time of losing a loved one, especially a brother that is younger than you. And I also want to pray for Sandra and just say great Sandra that the Lord is answering your prayers. And I pray that God continue to bless you that way. I want to say thanks to Brian and Jill and the DABbers. And thank you Blind Tony for the strength. Your poems have done wonderful, wonderful things that God has showed up and showed out just by learning to hear your poems and knowing that God is faithful. Gracious Father, we just praise You today. We praise You, we magnify You. We thank You Lord for being who You are. We thank You for being able to supply all our needs. Oh Lord we have those at night that called You and they need You Lord. We ask You to bless mother, Ms. Rose Lord, Ms. Rosemarie. Lord, we ask You to bless her. We ask You to heal those others Lord. We ask You to heal, I think it was Sandy. We ask You to heal…

2 Chronicles 4:1-6:13a, Romans 7:1-14 , Psalms 17:1-15, Proverbs 19:22-23

Today is the 21st day of July.  Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian.  It is great to be here with you today for the next step forward in our journey as we continue that journey through the scriptures this year. Of course, this week we’ve been reading from the Christian Standard Bible which is what we’ll continue to do. We’ll pick up where we left off. 2 Chronicles 4:1 - 6:11.

Commentary:

Okay.  So over the last several days as we’ve moved into the letter to the Romans and begun our journey through Paul’s writings, we’ve gone back to Abraham. That’s a trademark of the Apostle Paul. And we’ve realized that it was Abraham’s faith in God, not his obedience to a law or rule or ritual, that activated God’s promise to him. And in today’s reading, what Paul kind of unpacked that the purpose of the law was actually to reveal our helplessness and inability to achieve perfection before God. No one will be able to ever say, I deserve to be here because I am perfect. I am perfect like God, and so therefore, I can go into God’s presence rightfully. None of us can do that. Not on our own. However, through Jesus, we can boldly individually enter God’s presence, have fellowship and intimate relationship with God through his grace. What is fundamentally being said here is pretty astounding. The idea that sin is always gonna be a part of our lives is actually not supposed to be our reality. But it’s not something we can achieve on our own, right? Any more than obeying the law was something that the Hebrew people could achieve on their own. Paul was revealing that we’re no longer on our own. Not at all. Not in any way. When we put our faith in Jesus, we underwent a spiritual transformation. The old person that we were, that person died and we were reborn into a new life together, intertwined with God. And so Paul used this example of marriage that we can all understand, even today, right? If two people are married, they’re married. They’ve entered into covenant together before God and have essentially entered into a contract of marriage in terms of government. However, if one spouse dies, the other one is free from that covenant. So we can understand that. What Paul is saying is when we put our faith in Jesus, that old person died, is no longer bound to the law, has resurrected anew inaugurated into a new covenant with God.  One that is incorruptible and one in which God pours out his grace and mercy over humanity.  So the oppression of sin and the guilt that ensues from sin is no longer supposed to be our default position.  Let’s give that some thought today. Cause this is exactly what makes this news, this proclamation, this announcement, good. It’s why it’s good news.  It’s the announcement that the thing that would estrange us from God, sin, has been dealt with.  So may rejoice in that today.  We don’t have to live that way anymore.  It’s just gonna boil down to who we choose to obey.

Prayer:

Father, we invite You into that.  We thank You for the good news.  What can we say?  What words can we say?  That You came and rescued us, removed our sin, gave us freedom and grace, and the ability to have an intimate relationship with You.  What do we even say to that?  We are grateful. We thank You Father and we repent of the times that we continue to choose to walk in sin. That we are choosing to obey an old way rather than walking into life free with You.  Come Holy Spirit, we pray. In Jesus name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi. My name is Angelique and I’m calling from Washington state, Lynden Washington and I’m calling for prayer. I’ve been a faithful listener since just before Christmas of last year. I’ve really enjoyed the DAB family. So, last night, 11:30 PM, we got a call from an ER nurse, like, 11 hours away from us. My son was in a diving accident four hours north of Spokane Washington. He just walked in a lake with a friend and was at the length in the lake with a friend and dove in. It was at 10 at night. They went for a night swim. My son dove in so hard he hit the sand and broke his neck. He, right now, it is currently 215 my time. My son has been in surgery for an hour and 15 minutes. It is a 4 to 5 hours surgery and I do realize this won’t be played right away, but I am asking for prayer. My son is only 20 years old and I have called in for have him one other time. Somebody did call and let me know they were praying for him and my older son, which I appreciate show much. I know others are praying too. Please pray for a grant specifically. He is an atheist at 20 years old and we do believe God is trying to get his attention. His life was spared. His friend saved his life, pulled him to shore. My son was paralyzed on the right side of his body. He’s an athlete. And this is just absolutely, where just all stunned and there’s a lot of people praying. We’re asking for your prayers as well. My older son is 24 and he’s driving over to Spokane tonight or tomorrow morning and our whole family of six will be together So, we’re just praying…

Beloved sister Asia from Munich, we heard your call we heard you __ and bruised. And I just want to encourage you. You will win your uphill battle in Christ, you will. We are not of those who shrink back and are just __. We are of those who believe and are saved. And remember that the life of Paul and the Lord Jesus, you know, they went through terrible things. But their lives shown through. I mean, I’ve been super depressed so many times. This is Candace from Oregon. I mean really bad, not in the last five years, but had many, many times where it was just total desperation. And, so, I just long to lift you up and remind you to say the daily prayer and get into that fight, rebuke the false spirits, take every thought captive to the Lord Jesus Christ. We love you. We come around our sister Asia Lord and we ask You to lift her up, we ask You Lord to encourage her, strengthen her, rejuvenate her, just like you did with all of people who were so…given such a hard time in that first century of Christians in Rome. You were there, you were there helping them along the way. Thank You for everything that you will do in her life, in Jesus’ name.

Hi. First time caller, a long time knowing of the family. I started listening…but my name is Cindy and I go by Cindy Rowho, which is a nickname I picked up in college. But I believe in __. I believe I’ve been listening since the first of the year and I’ve had so much junk built in my life in the last couple of years that I don’t know where to start but by most pressing request is actually, I have a huge test Saturday morning or it’s actually a class Saturday morning and I have to miss church because it’s certification test. I have a test on Sunday and my work is paying for it. It’s for recertifying as a personal trainer. If you knew me, you’d know science is not my background but a chunk of it I use every day are ready because I do work for __. I’m nervous about the test of course. So just keep me in prayers. Help me, Lord, remind me of all the things I do know already and remind me of the things I’ve learned again. I’ve done this test about two and a half years ago, changed companies. And, so, I’m having to go back and relearn some things a little differently than before. But I really appreciate your prayers and I really appreciate the line and I appreciate the Daily Audio Bible. I listen to both the DAB and the DBC every morning. First thing I do. And I’ve really noticed and appreciated change in my heart over this last year and I want to thank you very much. This is Cindy, which I’m going by Cindy Rowho. So, thank you very much and appreciate your prayers. Goodbye.

2 Chronicles 1:1-3:17, Romans 6:1-23 , Psalms 16:1-11, Proverbs 19:20-21

Today is the 20th day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian and, of course, it’s a pleasure and an honor to be here with you today as we continue forward in our week. Of course, we’re getting to the end of our week but we’re at the beginning of a new book. We’ll begin 2 Chronicles today and there’s not really anything to tell. We talked about the books of Chronicles when we began first Chronicles. We’ve reached second Chronicles, but that’s just a delineation. This was all one larger scroll that had been broken apart for ease of finding references. And generally, we come to the end of David’s reign and move into Solomon’s reign. And that’s where we find ourselves. And that’s sort of the delineation here in the books of Chronicles. So, we begin. 2 Chronicles chapter 1 verse 1 through 3:17 today. And we’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible this week.

Commentary:

Okay. So, over the last several days in Romans we’ve gone back to Abraham and realized that it was his faith in God and not his obedience to a law that was the activator for God’s promise to him. We’ve learned that the law’s purpose was to reveal our helplessness and inability to achieve perfection before God. In other words, in our own strength, we will never be able to stand before God and claim that we deserve to be there because we have achieved perfection. We also learned that even while we were enemies, alienated, estranged from God, He loved us so much that He came to rescue us and that he actually wants a relationship with us. And I chuckle because it’s like, if someone is willing to die for you, than they love you, and they won’t to have a relationship with you. So, within that context Paul discussed sin in our reading from Romans today. He asked the question, should we keep on sinning so that God could be more gracious to us. Of course, Paul denounced the idea. He said, we know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin can lose its power over us so that we’re no longer the slaves of sin. So, let’s think about this. The idea that sin will always be an ongoing part of our lives is really not supposed to be our reality, but this is not something we can achieve our own. Like, brute force isn’t gonna get us to not sin, right? Even though we believe in Jesus, we cannot on our own lead a sinless life that leads us to perfection without Gods help any more than the Jewish people could achieve righteousness before God by obeying the law, which is Paul’s point. But his point is also that we’re no longer on our own. When we put our faith in Jesus, we underwent a spiritual transformation. Right? So, the person that we were without God, that person ended and we were re-created or reborn into a new life, completely, one intertwined with the divine nature of God through Jesus. Sin isn’t the default posture anymore, which is why the good news of the gospel is good news. This is all going to boil down to who and what we choose to obey. That’s what Paul said, and I’m quoting him here, “don’t you know that if you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of that one you obey, either of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness.” So, when we look at this clearly, some things become obvious. We don’t have to live with one foot in darkness and the other in God’s kingdom. In fact, what that would be is the most uncomfortable way to live, probably at all. That’s what the gospel offers, like a halfway in. We were invited to live as new creatures who are no longer enslaved the darkness in any way. That’s the offer and it’s impossible to move in that direction without cutting ties with anything that would chain us to any other outcome than this collaborative life of faith with God. So, let’s give that some thought today.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, we invite you into the places where we continue to choose to be enslaved to sin. This isn’t supposed to be and doesn’t have to be our reality, but we realize that every time we cross those thresholds into sin we are making choices to do it, and at times feel powerless to do anything about it because we have no power to do anything about it. What we fail to do often is to submit ourselves, which is also a difficult thing at times. What we fail to do is run to you for protection. And, so, Holy Spirit show us the ways that were exposing ourselves to the darkness and allowing it to seep into our lives and allowing it to wreak havoc with us. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Good morning DAB good morning DABbers. This is Brady from __ Georgia. I’m calling to ask you all to pray for my mother and not just the one time but, you know, not to be selfish, but, you know, nonstop, without cease. Her name is Rose Marie O’Neill. And she suffers with a mental disorder. In her mind, she feels that she’s being attacked, that there are lasers in the sky that are being shot down at her and causes her great pain. I recently relocated her here to live with me in Georgia because she had a meltdown where she left out of her home and she was walking around the neighborhood in a nightgown when it was cold. The neighbors called the local authorities. They took her to the hospital and there she was admitted to the state hospital. And, so, we finally got her to a point where she was cognitive to say that she has a son and my contact information. I was able to get information and then relocate her to Georgia with me. But, you know, it’s all new. And, so, I’m asking you for me, I’m asking that you all would pray for her that she would be restored, her mental health, and then for me to give me strength because it’s all new for me. She’s afraid to even go to the restroom. Sometimes at night, you know, __ it’s like she lost control of her bladder, her bowels, so she wears diapers. And, so, like I said, it’s just __. And then on top of that if you could pray for my daughter Hilary, that she can find employment and that God would really just touch her and give her the ability to…

Hallelujah. Hey it’s Matthew Fouts. It’s July 17th, 2018. It’s nine years for me since I gave my life to Christ. I was listening to the Daily Audio Bible walking around the yard in such a few months before that day. And there was a man, his name was David S. I worked with him. He was a fork truck driver. And he came in he knocked on my office cube. He said hey, come to this meeting were going to build this place full of Christian men. And I was going to church a little bit at the time. I was listening to the Daily Audio Bible. So, I figured, hey, I’m a Christian man. So, I went to that meeting and I heard a gospel. I heard about Jesus, born of a virgin and lived to sinless, perfect life. He died on the cross and He’s raised from the dead man. And it made sense to me. And I gave my life to Christ and I honestly didn’t think He could do anything. But He changed everything. He’s healed by relationship. He delivered me from a pornography addiction. He delivered me from depression, anxiety. Jesus is Lord man. And if He did it for me He’ll do it for anybody out there. So, my prayer today is for the person that hasn’t yet heard the gospel, hasn’t yet read the Daily Audio Bible. I pray that those doors be open, that they hear it, that they receive Jesus, are healed, delivered, set free, saved in Jesus’ name. That’s my prayer and I know you’ll all agree with me because that’s the will of God. It’s His will and that none should perish but that all should come to him. All should come to repentance He says. So that’s a change of mind, change of heart. That’s what he does. He loves us and I love you because he first loved me man. God is real. It’s nine years and He’s never let me down. You know what? He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever. God bless you. I love you.

This is Michael from North Georgia. I don’t usually call in that much. I’ve only called in maybe two or three times and requested prayer. The particular reason being I love to listen to other people’s requests because it gives me something to pray for and I’m not really the type of person to ask for much. But the few times that I’ve called in I’ve requested prayer for my wife because she was sick and she’s getting better but she’s not 100%. So, please continue to pray for my wife, Sandy, she has a lung disease called vasculitis. She will probably, unless the Lord decides to heal her anytime soon, will have that for the rest of her life. She also has a heart condition, something, cardio myopathy, or something to do the heart, heart races. And one sides enlarged. And she’s a diabetic and she has thyroid trouble as well. So she’s, it’s a real hard struggle for her day-to-day. My daughter Abby, that I requested prayer for. She’s 15. Her blood sugar level has stabilized for the most part. She’s doing a lot better and she got to come home. And my little brother Wesley, he passed away Thursday night, Friday morning of this week. On Friday the 13th he died.  They found him dead in his house. He was really sick and he didn’t get better. God brought him on home. So, today I am going to bury my little brother. Please pray for me that I will be able to find the joy of the Lord again in this. I know that God’s got him and I know He’s holding him close. But where else do we hear. And I need the prayer from every one to keep me. Thank you for every one of you in the name of Jesus.

Good afternoon Daily Audio Bible family. This is Chandra calling from Maryland. I want to get everything out. I had to pray before I called because I get really nervous. First, I have to say thank you Brian, Jill, and everybody who does the behind the scenes work that makes everything possible. Thank you guys so much. Well, I want to say, first to Keisha, I was listening to the broadcast from the 14th of July and I was hearing Keisha’s request and how she mentioned about how what we may pray for, it will come through, but it may not come through in the way that we pray for it. I’m just saying verbatim, how everyone may interpret things. I do understand, I do want to share a short testimony. I have shared with you guys how I’ve been dealing with multiple sclerosis and I’ve been dealing with being confined to a wheelchair, which is a whole other story. I pray vigilantly that the Lord help me get back in the pool and once I get back in the water that will help me to become more able to and stronger to get out of the wheelchair and do other things. Well, the Lord’s answering my prayer but not in an expected way. He actually is having me in this water aerobics class where I would have to use muscles that I haven’t used in a long time. And just by the fact that I’m going there and I’m able to get out of the wheelchair and get into the pool and exercise even though my legs are weak, it’s being a testimony to people who see my progress or see what I’m going through. And I just want to share that with any…

1 Chronicles 28:1-29:30, Romans 5:3-21 , Psalms 15:1-5, Proverbs 19:18-19

Today is the 19th day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It’s great to be here with you from the steamy rolling hills of Tennessee but the lush green and alive, rolling hills of Tennessee is well. It’s a pleasure and an honor to take the next step forward as we move through the Scriptures together. And this week we’ve been reading from the Christian standard Bible, which is what we’ll continue to do. First Chronicles chapter 28 and 29 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, as we continue to take this journey through the book of Romans, a letter of Paul, we began our reading with really an encapsulation of the life we are living all in one sentence. For while we were still helpless at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. And we can just…I mean…we can just stop there because it’s not just a description of our salvation, it’s also the context for our lives. And the implications of this rescue the Paul’s talking about our astounding. And that’s what Paul’s focused on today by telling us that God invited us into relationship with Him even while we were completely estranged. So, in Paul’s own words. If while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His son, then how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received this reconciliation. And then Paul explained that the law was a means to reveal how far away we actually had drifted from God and how deeply the separation really was. Without the law there was no way to gauge how bad things and gotten. Right? Because there’s no benchmark. But with the law we could finally see that we were helpless to achieve perfection on our own. So, the law’s purpose, according to Paul, was to show us our desperate need for God. And Jesus revealed God’s passionate desire to meet that need. So, as theologically driven as Romans is, when we press through to the underlying reality it should humble us. God didn’t need to do any of this. Like, you and I, right now sitting here around the global camp fire, reading the Bible, basking in the glory of the Lord, and of our salvation, God was not required to do any of this. And we’ve made and we continue to make choices that, if they run their logical course, will lead to our destruction. We cannot be our own God. As much as we try, it’s just not possible. The law was given so that we might understand our trajectory and be awakened and become aware of our plight. Seeing that we’re hopeless to rectify the situation, helpless to do anything about it, we can see how overwhelming God’s love really is. So profound, which is the whole point of our reading today. That even while we were alienated, while we were enemies of God, God still would not surrender us to the darkness, which leads us back to where we started. When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time so that, according to Paul, and I’m quoting him here, “just as sin reigned in death, so also grace will reign through righteousness resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Prayer:

Father, we enter into that. We take time to just consider how massive Your rescue is and how loving and kind, like, even as we were Your enemies, You still came for us. This changes everything. Its’ not only an invitation for our personal lives, it’s an invitation for humanity. So, come Holy Spirit. Plant these words deep in our lives, these fundamental truths of our faith. Make them alive. Awaken us. Make us aware of them. We ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi. My name is Mandy. This is my first time calling. My friend Marie is in hospice. She’s dying from cancer in the next few days we think. And I just want to reach out for prayer for her, you know, to love her, especially her husband, Dennis. She’s the one who helped me learn about Jesus and become a believer and also my family and she’s my dearest friend and I just love her so much. I want her to have God’s peace and know she’ll be in the arms of Jesus soon. But, this is just a hard transition for everyone. And just asking for God’s peace in this situation. Thanks so much everyone. Bye.

Hello Daily Audio Bible. I would like to just give God all the praise for all the people who leave their prayer requests and let you know that I am praying as well. I got a chance to go on the long walk and it was really great. It also taught me that I need more help at just being quiet with the Lord. So, I’m working on that. I am stuck in a besetting sin and I cannot seem to get out of it. I’m a devout Christian but I am in over my head. So, my name is Tammy. Please pray for me. I suffer with addiction and I do ask for divine intervention as well as your prayers. I know that I can overcome this and walk away from it for good but I need help. Thanks.

Good morning DAB family this is Walking by Faith from New York City. I wanted to just thank you all for your continued prayer for my son and for my brother for his __ and your prayers for him. He lives in Orlando. I would like to leave you my email so maybe we can communicate. I’m not good at Facebook. So that’s why I won’t leave Facebook. My email is angelflyer819@gmail.com. I am planning to go to Orlando sometime in October. I wish I could actually go tomorrow. I’m just so lonely and so desperate. The latest thing is that she’s not wearing her wedding bands and going out every weekend with friends and whatnot. And she’s just despondent. And my son is also going through some anger issues, dealing with the situation with the ex-girlfriend. He feels like she’s getting away with everything. Honestly, sometimes so do I. I did hear from the internal affairs Bureau office and they’re not going to pursue this case. And the way the officer spoke to me, it was like he just cut me off. And I’m getting the suspicion that, you know, she knows people that…it’s just not good but you know, I stand on the Lord of God, that he vindicates that he fights our battles. I am praying for all of you…

I’m calling in today to encourage you, to encourage you to let you know that, regardless of the problem that you’re having, regardless of the issue that you’re dealing with, regardless of the struggle that is holding you, God is in control. Jesus is enough and the Holy Spirit will comfort you. Over the past 16 years I’ve struggled with anxiety, depression, suicidal attempts, being in and out of psychiatric facilities, on-and-off depression medication, married twice, divorced twice. Hearts been broken. I’ve broken hearts. Been arrested. Struggled with many different sins. I’ve been an alcoholic, addicted to drugs, a practicing homosexual. Regardless of all of that, when I finally, in my heart, decided to turn it over to Jesus Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit released control of my life to him, October this year will be one solid year where none of those things have had an influence in my life. I will not say that there hasn’t been a temptation. I will not say that I have not wanted to do those things but what I will say is when those temptations have come along, I’ve always turn to Christ. Had I always wanted to turn to Christ? No. But I knew that if I didn’t I would get the same result. So, I encourage you my brothers and sisters in Christ. I love you.

1 Chronicles 26:12-27:34, Romans 4:14-5:2 , Ps 14:1-7, Proverbs 19:17

Today is the 18th day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is wonderful to be here with you today, making our way through the center of the week. I guess we’re pretty much close to the center of the month and we are… What? Are we at the center of the summer? I’m not sure. But we’ll center ourselves in the Scriptures as we take the next step forward. We’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible this week. 1 Chronicles 26:12-27:34.

Commentary:

Okay. So in the book of Romans, Paul is indeed laying out through augment that faith preceded everything. Everything else about the Jewish people, everything that came afterward, faith is where it all started. And it was the faith of Abraham in particular that began this covenant that then became a child of promise who then had children and eventually we have the children of Israel. Everything that we’ve read through the Scriptures up to this point. This is one of Paul’s most pivotal distinctions. It goes back to the beginning of the story and realizes faith is where it all started. So faith is where everything begins. Faith is what grants us access to God, not ritual and law. When we have faith, it is credited to us as righteousness through Jesus our Lord. So Paul kind of encapsulates the posture of our everyday lives in this faith in just a her few verses at the beginning of chapter 5 of Romans when he says, Since we’ve been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have also obtained access through him by faith into this grace in which we stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. And not only that. We also rejoice in our afflictions because we know that affliction produces endurance, endurance produces proven character and proven character produces hope. This hope will not disappoint us because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. So there’s a lot here in this grid that Paul was laying out. Everything begins with faith. When we have faith in Jesus, we are declared righteous through that faith and we have peace with God through Jesus. But we don’t just have peace with God, we have access to God through this faith. Because God is gracious and extends grace and it is this grace in which we stand every single day, every single moment. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. And then Paul talks about that hope. He talks about how not only do we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God, but we rejoice when we struggle. We rejoice in our afflictions because we know that this isn’t purposeless. We know that this is doing something in us that is building and strengthening our faith. And if faith is where this whole thing begins, then we need as strong a faith as we can have. And so we know that affliction produces endurance, Paul says. Endurance produces proven character and proven character produces hope. And this hope will not disappoint us. And hope has been our word for the year. Hope is kind of the engine of faith. Hope lets us reach in anticipation for what we cannot see. But our faith is engaged and it can see. We all need hope on so many levels, but it’s not something that just happens. Like you don’t hope for something you have. You hope for something that you are hoping for. Which means that there is a distance between here and there, right? If you were hoping for something that you could just make happen instantly, than you just would. You wouldn’t really need hope. You wouldn’t really need faith. You would just do it. But the things that we hope in are the things that are not completed yet. And this isn’t just in terms of faith, this is in general. But it’s interesting what Paul is trying to tell us here. And that is there’s really no hope if there’s no resistance. If you didn’t have to stand firm or step out in faith you wouldn’t need hope. Hope is the thing that lets us reach out beyond the obstacles toward the goal. So let’s remember that. Let’s contemplate that today as we take inventory of our lives and the things that we are hoping in. And may our strongest hope be in Christ alone.

Prayer:

So Father, we thank You. We thank You for the book of Romans. We thank You for Paul’s ability to unpack this and for us thousands of years later to be contemplating the inner regions of our soul. And we invite Your Holy Spirit into those places. Give us hope, Lord. We put our faith in You and we acknowledge that often it’s in resistance that we grow strong. So Holy Spirit, come give us strength to navigate this day and navigate the rest of this week and the weeks ahead. I ask this expectantly, with hope, putting our faith in You and You alone. In Jesus name. Amen.

blindtony1016@gmail.com. I’d like to give a shout out to Tito, Tito Ramirez, thanks for contacting me brother. Hope all is working itself out well. And I’d also like to give a shout out to Victoria Soldier. Good to hear your voice always. And, once again Brian, thank you for this wonderful podcast for God’s Holy Spirit to flow. Keep flow n’ y’all. All right. Bye-bye.

Hi DAB family. Cherry Chase, thank you so much for calling me out. Girl, I am still listening but I just haven’t called in because I feel like I have nothing to say. Seriously, nothing to say. But I was upstairs and thinking to myself, you know, that’s what the devil wants me to think. I am in a place just trying to put one foot before the other. Between watching the news and just what is going on in the world it is really depressing. Between people committing suicide, terrorist attacks, just the hate and all of the mean stuff is going on. I too am working in a company with people who all they see is race. It’s the first thing they see. I’m an African-American woman living in Germany. And let me tell you, it is no different. It’s just a different game over here. But nonetheless I find myself just not wanting to watch the news. I’m just trying to strive for finding something positive in the world whether it be through my husband or watching my son grow up but wondering what world is he living in? What is there?. And the only thing that gives me comfort is we walk by faith and not by sight. We walk by faith and not by sight. While I don’t feel it, I have to believe it because when I stop believing it there is nothing else. So, I just want to tell everyone that I am still here. I’m thinking of you all. I’m praying for you all. Brian and Jill and everyone behind the scenes at DAB, thank you for continuing this family. I covet your prayers. I think many of us are in the same state of, ahhh, I don’t know what else to say but we walk by faith and not by sight. I love you all. I’m thinking of you all. Hugging you all. Cheers, Asia in Munich.

He DAB brothers and sisters. This is Byron out in Florida. It is summertime and I wanted to talk to you guys about partnering with the DAB. So, when Brian says partnering every day he’s talking about coming up off your wallet and putting some money into the pot to keep the servers spinning and keep the podcast casting out where it needs to go. And what I’ve heard, not just from religious organizations but any kind of charitable organization is that giving tends to fall off during the summer months. Now, I don’t personally understand why this is the case but apparently it is. And, so, some organizations feel a little bit of a crunch when summertime comes and we’re all relaxing. But let me put this to you. The DAB has made it very easy to be able to give on a regular basis. You can just sign up your card or your bank account or whatever and it can come out easily month in and month out. Now the amount I give is extremely modest but it comes out regularly. It doesn’t care whether it’s the dead of winter or it’s in the middle of the summer. It’s going out and it’s putting in to give to the DAB. And here’s the other thing, how much more do we put money into things without fail that don’t have nearly the life-giving potential of the DAB? If you pay your Netflix bill month in month out with regularity, how much life-giving is that giving you compared to the DAB, your cable bill or whatever else that you get. For what we get out of DAB shouldn’t we at least be giving with regularity if not in an amount competitive with some of those other things that actually take life from us? So, go onto the site today, click on the give button, it’s super easy, set up your monthly gift, your weekly gift, your daily gift, I don’t know. And God will bless you. I’ve been blessed immensely by this service, much more than I could ever put in. And it’s worth it to be able to spread that out to other people.

Good morning family. This is Cherry Chase. Hope all is well. I want to call this morning to let, just in case, besides Brian, someone didn’t tell you that they love you. I want to tell you guys I love you. I love you. I love you. You guys have a great wonderful day. I just wanted to put that across to someone. If someone did not or don’t tell you they love you. I want to tell you I love you. And you guys have a great and wonderful and marvelous day.

1 Chronicles 24:1-26:11, Romans 4:1-13 , Psalms 13:1-6, Proverbs 19:15-16

Today is the 17th day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It is a pleasure and an honor to be with you today. I’m glad we can come in out of whatever is going on, all of the cares of the world and life’s distractions. We step away from that, kind of move into another atmosphere. All that stuff will wait. We center ourselves in God’s word, allowing it to come washing into our lives and re-calibrating. So we’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible this week and we’ll pick up where we left off yesterday. 1 Chronicles 24:1-26:11 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So in the book of Romans, I think I look forward to this day each year, although I hadn’t realized that until just now. And it’s because I get to say circumcision so many times in one sitting. Of course, circumcision…come on, this is always a trending topic. I mean, I think about it all the time. Don’t you? As funny as that might be, the people that Paul’s talking to they do think a lot about it. Because for them, at least for the males obviously, it was a sign of the covenant. Something that made them exclusive. Now, Hebrews weren’t the only ones practicing circumcision at this time. But this had been a long-standing sign of the covenant with God. What we’re watching Paul do is deconstruct and re-imagine the faith of his fellow Hebrews. And what he begins to lay out today is something that we will see over and over and over throughout Paul’s letters. So here’s the problem: Paul, a devout Pharisee, had realized and spoken out loud what everyone knew- no one could ever obey the law perfectly. Therefore, no one could ever achieve righteousness before God by their good works, by obeying that law. Because no matter how good they were, they were going to fail at some point. So Paul, being a devout Hebrew Pharisee, reasoned it out. We can’t get there from here. And what Paul wanted is to be righteous before God. That was his entire mission of his life as a Pharisee. So he goes back to the beginning of the story. And the story of the Hebrew people begins with a man named Abram who becomes Abraham, who enters into the first covenant with God. It is Abraham’s offspring who become the people of God - the Hebrew people. This is their origin story. It is the animating story that propels their culture. So no one was going to argue with Paul about that. Abraham started it all. They all knew that. But they may have not considered and what Paul was inviting them to consider was the fact that Abraham wasn’t circumcised. There was no covenant at that point. Once the covenant happened, than Abraham was circumcised.  But that didn’t make him righteous before God. It was something else that made Abraham righteous. Abraham, and I’m quoting Paul, Abraham believed God and it was credited to him for righteousness. Paul was simply quoting the book of Genesis. That right there is foundational, fundamental to what Paul was teaching. It was Abraham’s faith in God and belief in what God had promised that mattered. God considered him righteous because of that. So Paul is saying, hang on. We got a law, we gotta lot of rituals, we gotta lot of culture, we gotta lot of custom. We got all this stuff going on, but we’ve forgotten how this whole thing started. We keep trying to worship in a way this law that we cannot live up to. And that is not what started our story. Our story began with a man and his faith. Abraham. And he wasn’t circumcised when he put his faith in God. He wasn’t obeying a law because there wasn’t one to obey. So we have to consider what happened at the beginning. We’ll watch Paul lay this out over and over and over again. And it’s important because it is also a central thing to our faith obviously. Our faith is the bridge that all of our hope in Jesus drives on. And Paul will continue to pound this point home, like I said, over and over, as we’ll see.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for the gift. We thank You for the community that we get to share each and every day no matter where we are on the earth, we come together each and every day to allow Your word to minister and speak, direct and comfort us. So we thank You. Father, in light of our reading today we put our faith in You. We believe Your promises and we ask that You lead us on the path of righteousness today by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Come Jesus, we pray. In Your precious name we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi. If this is Amy from Texas. This is the first time that I’ve called, although I’ve been listening for four years. I just have a prayer request for my husband David. He finished, recently, a year’s treatment for cancer and at our last scan of his chest, his tumor site, a couple of spots showed up in his lungs. The doctor did tell us that she was not worried about them because they were so small but the likelihood of his kind of cancer spreading would go to his lungs. He has another scan in three months just to check for if they’ve grown. So, I would just ask that you would pray that there is no cancer anywhere, that the spot’s would be nothing, that they will not even be visible on the next scan. 95% of people have spots on their lungs. So, she said the likelihood of that happening is high also. So, but of course the fear is always there for me even though I’ve seen God’s faithfulness through these last years. So, please just pray that it’s nothing and that we can put this chapter in our lives behind us. Thank you so much.

Hola DAB family. God bless you Brian, Jill, and all who are working behind the scenes. This is Viv from Canada and it’s been so long that I’m getting called out by my brother Sean 316. It is always been a pleasure to hear you call in Sean. I remember how much I laughed when you called in that little imitation piece of our fellow DABbers. Anyway, thank you for the shout out. That was very sweet. I too have been wondering about our sister Sherry. I hope she’s doing well. I miss her sweet voice singing for us. Ut it does get busy. You know, so, I hope she’s really doing well. And here’s my request today. Whenever you are wondering about a regular caller who has not called in for a while, just say a prayer for them because you never know what’s going on in their lives. Thanks to everyone who prayed for me and my friend Darla and the loss of her brother. We definitely felt your prayers. So, thanks. And Asia, thank you so much for the sweet message. It is truly appreciated. What an awesome community this is. The love and care that we all show for each other is amazing and can only be from God. So, Father God, thank You for the vision that you gave to Brian and Jill so many years ago and the wisdom that You have bestowed upon them, enabling them to continue Your work. We pray Father for Your continued blessings of provision, for health and super strength for Brian. And as he reads every day the Lord, as he reads the word fresh every day, I pray that Yo will continue to anoint him with Your Holy Spirit. We pray that You continue to bless all who give financially to this ministry, that Your store baskets may never be empty. We pray this all in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. And family, if you remember when you pray, I’m learning a new language, Spanish. It is a lot of fun but it’s taking a bit of effort to grasp. So, I just might have to call Pastor Gene for some lessons. Anyways, thanks for listening and praying with me.

Hi family. This is Melody Faith from Canada. I want to thank all of you, including Victoria Soldier, Pastor Gene, and Lee from New Jersey for praying for Jared regarding addiction, his court date, and needing a haircut. He did get a haircut and the court appearance resulted in a reasonable sentence. Regarding the addiction, well, let’s just say my husband and I can certainly feel out little boat rocking the storm. I will call in with another request when I figure out just how to word it. As I join with each of you in your everyday, I find myself praying for each of your needs and applying the word of God. Many of you are in crisis and I hear the desperation in your voices. I ran across a quote today that caught my attention and I’d like to share it with you. “Next time you’re walking through something and you’re not sure what to do, do this. Never doubt in the dark what God has shown you in the light. Have faith in God. Don’t believe the lie that God doesn’t see you there. So often we take our cues was going on around us. Instead, grab a hold of the word of God. God is on the throne. He hasn’t changed.” I need to remind thyself of that too. Often, I have to remind myself of that. Hebrews 6 verse 19 says, we have this hope for an anchor for our soul, firm and secure. So, if your boat is rocking, throw down the anchor of faith and trust Him today. I hope these words encourage you. I love family. Thank you DAB. Have a great day.

Good morning Daily Audio Bible family. This is Dan from Arkansas. I just wanted to call in and let Scott know that we’re praying for his family and his son Joel. It’s a horrible time they’ve been going through and it just weighed super heavy on my heart and I just wanted to call in and let him know that we are all with you brother and, you know, we may not understand what you’re going through but all of us have felt loss and felt pain and we’re just praying for Joel and we just pray that the Lord just takes that issue that’s going on with the water on his brain away and just heals him completely. And so, I’d like to pray for you now. Dear Lord, I thank You for this day Lord. I think You for my Daily Audio Bible family Lord. I thank You for Scott and his calling in and letting us know was going on in his life Lord. And I pray for his son Joel Lord. I pray that You put Your hands upon him Lord and that You heal this boy and let him just be well Lord. I thank all the rest of the Daily Audio Bible family for always being so uplifting. And I love you guys and I pray for you guys every day and I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

1 Chronicles 22:1-23:32, Romans 3:9-31 , Psalms 12:1-8, Proverbs 19:13-14

Today is the 16th day of July. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It’s great to be here with you today. And I know I say that most every day, but we all need somebody who thinks it’s great to see us, right? And it’s great to see you. It’s good to be together around the global campfire as we take the next step forward, which will take us back into the book of 1 Chronicles and back into the life of King David. We’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible this week. 1 Chronicles 22 and 23.

Commentary:

Okay. So now that we are in Paul’s letters, and as I’ve said, we’ll kind of be camping out in Paul’s letters for a little while. And in spending time in those letters, we’ll understand exactly what it was that Paul was teaching. And what we’ll find is that it is the core of the Christian faith. So for example, in our reading from today, Paul took us right to the bedrock of the faith that in the essence of it all. And that was simply this - no one is perfect. And we all know that. But then the problem comes in that we are trying to be in a relationship with a perfect, righteous, holy God. So how do we get beyond our inability to become perfect as we pursue this relationship with perfection? So as we’ve been working our way through the Old Testament, we see that the law of Moses was given and the Hebrew people believed that if they could obey the law fully, that if they could do it with all of their heart, wholly and unimpeded, then they could become righteous before God. The problem was that no one could do it. So Paul’s point that he was making was that the law was to reveal sin and to reveal that no one could become perfect and righteous on their own. So in Paul’s own words from our reading today, “Now we know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those who are subject to the law so that every mouth may be shut and the whole world may become subject to God’s judgement. For no one will be justified in his sight by the works of the law because the knowledge of sin comes through the law.” So for Paul as a religious Jew who was a Pharisee, devoutly trying to obey to the letter of the law everything in the law as best as he could, he realized even when you apply yourself completely, you’re still gonna fail. So on the one hand, that’s kind of a hopeless situation. Everything you are trying to apply yourself to do to become righteous before God is, in the end, not going to succeed. So what can a person do? How is the unachievable achieved? As Paul began to look at Jesus, he began to see how this could work. And I’m quoting him from our reading. “But now apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been revealed, attested by the law and the prophets. The righteousness of God is through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe, since there is no distinction. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. They are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” That is an essential bedrock core truth of the Christian faith. And thank goodness. Because we’re not in a hopeless situation. We can never make ourselves righteous before God. It was a hopeless situation. We would never be able to get there, would never be able to come into God’s presence and say, I deserve to be in your presence because I have made myself righteous like you are, right? That’s not going to happen. So hopeless situation. But as we look at what Paul is saying hope comes springing forth. Yes, all have sinned. All have fallen short of the glory of God. But God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight and he did this through Jesus when he freed us from the penalty of our sins. Which means that we are made righteous, that we are perfected before God because of his grace. So we can’t go into God’s presence and say, I deserve to be here because I am righteous and I have made myself righteous, but we can go into God’s presence boldly as our Father and say, I deserve to be here because you’ve accepted me through Jesus. I haven’t earned this. I in myself don’t deserve this. But you came for me. This is the good news of the gospel. And may we rejoice in it today.

Prayer:

Father, we do. We certainly do today and every day. Because there will never be a day that we have achieved righteousness on our own and deserve to be in Your presence. And yet You welcome us into Your presence every day because of Jesus. And so we’re thankful. Jesus, we thank You. We were hopelessly lost and You rescued us and we didn’t deserve it. And we still fall short and You still are merciful. So we are grateful today. We invite Your Holy Spirit to lead us to be grateful and to concentrate and contemplate and meditate upon the grand good news that You have offered to the world. We ask, Father, that You would help us share the good news. All are welcome. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In Jesus name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hello my beautiful DAB family. This is Tulu calling from Canada. I haven’t called since 2014. So, this is a big step for me. I’ve been a listener since 2007. Just want to thank you all. I love you guys so much. I listen to your calls and all your prayers, prayer requests, praise re-ports, and advice - really bless me. I just had to call today when I heard Jeff from Syracuse call. I’m so sorry about your loss Jeff. This is why we are here and I just pray that the Lord will hold you that this time and comfort you. And for everyone else who’s mourning a loss at this time, I pray the same prayer for you, that that hole, that void that has been left by your loved one, the Lord is the only one who can fill it and I pray that you just feel His comfort and His love and feel His warm embrace and hear him speak His words of comfort, His words that are the word for this season of your life. And I pray that you would just know His comfort and blessing. Family, I know that these are perilous times and this DAB community isn’t a coincidence and it’s not a mistake. And God has brought us all together for such a time as this we are so much is happening in the world and sometimes it’s like some things are being called home. And those of us who are here have a mission to carry the name of Jesus and to be His hands and feet and spread His love. And I pray that the Lord will just give us the grace and the courage and the strength to do that. I love you guys. I will call another day. I hope, soon. Giving you big hugs and kisses. Love to everyone. Thanks Brian, Jill, thanks Sarah Jane. Thanks all the team. Love you all. God bless

Hi family this is Kim from Eastern Kentucky and it’s Thursday, July 12th and I was just calling in because Standing Firm had called in and saying he hadn’t been standing firm. And a Scripture came to me when you started talking, and it’s Proverbs 24:16, for a righteous man falls seven times and rises again. And, the only way we stand firm is in the strength of our Savior. And James tells us that when we confess our sins, our faults, where we missed the mark, we confess them one to another and then the Lord hears our prayers and we get healed. And, so, Standing Firm, I appreciate you calling in and I know you’re still a righteous man and you are going to rise again, that’s what you’ve done. And you ask about people with depression and loneliness, praying for them. And my son is 20 years old and he struggles with that and his name is Josiah and I ask that you would remember him. And Jeff called in saying he had lost his wife, 55 years old. I’m 56, Jeff. I lost my husband 20 years ago to a brain tumor and it was rough in the beginning, very rough. But God is faithful and I know He will be faithful to you as well. So, prayers for everyone, I love you all, I love the podcast Brian and Jill. God bless you. Listening always. Bye.

Hi DAB family. This is nobody gets left behind in Colorado. I don’t call…I probably have only called maybe four times in the eight years that I’ve listened but I did want to make that a goal, something I start doing more and I just felt God pressing on my heart today to call in and just tell you all about a little story about something that happened yesterday. So, I have a brother Jeremy and he’s been in prison for 16 years. And he’s gotten more like a father to me and a brother and a best friend. And he’s just, these last, probably three years, he’s been getting stronger in his faith. And I love to just bounce Bible scriptures and we could talk for hours about the DAB and what we’re listening to and what God is doing in our lives and stuff like that. Anyway, I hadn’t heard from him in a couple weeks and I was really worried about him. The systems are down for the messaging in the prison that he is at and everything. So, I was really just praying every single day. I got a call from him yesterday. My brother had a breakthrough. My sister who has dropped contact with him for a long time, she sent him a quick little note and said I love you brother. And my brother, it just did something amazing to him. And he asked me to find this song and it’s called “your love defends me” __ . And, so, I played it on my husband’s phone so he could hear it on my phone and he let the song play through it I just had, I was just envisioning him on the other end crying and just worshiping God and if you knew my brother you would understand how powerful this is. He’s a shot caller, he’s a gangster like…
