Exodus 10:1-12:13, Matthew 20:1-28, Psalm 25:1-15, Proverbs 6:6-11

Today is January 30th, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It’s great to be here with you today as we greet a brand-new shiny sparkly week and remind ourselves yet again that this is a fresh start, this week is before us, it’s in the future. It hasn’t happened yet. And the way that this week shapes out will have everything to do with our thoughts, our words and our deeds and we are out in front of it and can choose wisely right from the get-go and so let’s choose wisely and one of those wise decisions is the rhythm that we are establishing together, showing up every day around the Global Campfire and taking the next step forward in the Scriptures together and so let’s dive into that. We are in the midst of the show down into Egypt between God and Pharaoh. So, we’ll pick up where we left off yesterday, which is what we will always do, Exodus chapter 10 verse 1 through 12 verse 13 and we will read from the Common English Bible this week.

Commentary:

Okay, let’s take a minute here as we begin this week in the book of Matthew today, because Jesus now has announced to his disciples that they are headed to Jerusalem, He’s been to Jerusalem before of course, and for that matter, was born just miles away from Jerusalem. But most of his ministry has been 90 miles-ish so, let’s just round it to 100 miles away to the north in the Galilee. This particular trip to Jerusalem is different than any other trips to Jerusalem because you won’t be getting out alive or a more accurate way to say it would be He won’t be getting out of there before He dies and is resurrected. So, let’s remember that for a second but now let’s try to put ourselves into the time. So, we’re in the first century, the land that had been the ancestral homeland of the Israelites is now under Roman rule. It’s a province in the Roman Empire, the province of Syria. For a very long time, for centuries the Hebrew people had been longing for a Savior, a rescuer, a Messiah, they had even looked into the Hebrew Scriptures and seen that this is a foretold thing, they were looking for this because it looked like a good time for the Messiah to come, somebody to set them free from the oppression of their oppressors. To them, the Romans were an occupying entity, they needed to be pushed out of the land, the land needed to be purified and restored to God and a Messiah would come to do this, so this is bubbling under in their culture. It’s just what they know and what they expect and what’s being told to them in their synagogues and they’ve been waiting a long time and there’s been a lot of tragedy. So, Jesus comes along and He pretty much looks like what they’re looking for. He can communicate well, He can draw and inspire a crowd, He is speaking of the kingdom of heaven and saying that it is at hand. He’s saying things like seek first the kingdom and all these things will be added to you and they’re thinking the kingdom of heaven that’s being described is the same one that they’ve been thinking about, a purified Israel with all of their enemies pushed out and the place restored to God. And so, they’re not completely comprehending this invisible spiritual realm and spiritual kingdom that Jesus is describing, one that is from within and spills outward into the world. They just, Jesus fits the bill, they just don’t know whether He’s a militant like, can He get an army together, but we see these thought patterns and the way that these assumptions are being made even in our reading today from book of Matthew, even among Jesus 12 disciples. So, Jesus tells his disciples while they’re going to Jerusalem what’s can happen, that He will be condemned to death, that He will be ridiculed, tortured and crucified. In other words, He will be killed and will be raised on the third day, the very next thing that happens on this journey, after He gives this explanation is that the mother of Zebedee’s sons, and we’re told in the Gospels that the sons of Zebedee are James and John and as a little aside and not to make this more confusing Jesus has a half-brother named James as well, who we will hear from later in the year. But James and John’s mom comes to Jesus as they’re walking along the path toward Jerusalem, where Jesus will be ridiculed, tortured and crucified, as He has told them, their mom comes to Jesus and says they need a favor and Jesus say’s what’s the favor basically and she says I’m asking that my two sons will be on your left hand and on your right hand when you come into your kingdom. And so, regardless of what Jesus has told them, there is this overwhelming expectation and they want to be on the ground floor of this new thing that’s going to be established in Jerusalem. They are obviously in for a tremendous surprise, but it gives us the opportunity to consider why we would follow Jesus. Is it because we think He’s going to beat up the bad guys and make us powerful, is because of what He can do for us because the disciples, they missed it, and thankfully it’s preserved in the Gospels and we can see the twists and turns of the story because they help us realize that so often, we’re…we’re expecting the same kinds of things? Even now, even with the understanding of the story and the Gospels preserved for us to read and pour over and study we still end up with the same kinds of expectations. We believe that Christ will return and beat up the bad guy’s right, which means that all we’re here to do is wait for that to happen, when that is not all we are here to do. The kingdom that Jesus is describing and He will be very explicit with this as we continue to talk about this and encounter it in the Gospels, the kingdom He’s describing is one from within, one that exists, one that is underway, one that is happening and we participate and reveal that kingdom through a transformed life that looks difference than the rest of the world. So, let’s consider that as we move into this shiny sparkly new week.

Prayer:

And Jesus we love You, we love You. We need You more than anything and we need You more than ever. And so we humble ourselves and invite your Holy Spirit to begin to reveal the ways in which we’re kind of assuming what that looks like instead of humbling ourselves in absolute trust for where ever You are leading. Help us to realize the expectations that we’ve placed on You and how similar they are to the people that You ministered to in the first century and then help us to see clearly what the truth is, that You have rescued us and made a distinction between us and the world just, as you made a distinction between Israel and Egypt. We are set apart, but it’s not because we’re so awesome because somehow, we landed as superior humans. Rather, it is that we chose to die to what we were without You and to only live into what we are with You. Your humble servants available at Your command, completely trusting where You are leading. Come Holy Spirit into this we pray, in the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Good morning Daily Audio Bible family, good morning Brian, God bless you and your family, love you so much, so appreciative. I am rather new, this is Michael Relow by the way, The Intercessor. By the way, I just wanted to…to say I am approaching the Campfire with so much gratitude in my heart, today, so much gratefulness for this family, for the transparency, for the courage to be transparent and open up and share with the community. It’s such a blessing to be a part of it and it’s such a blessing to stand in the gap for all of you and I just want to lift up right now, today is the 24th of January, I joined on the 14th of January, and today I heard a wonderful sister, she called herself The Farmer’s Wife from upstate New York. Her and her husband are having a baby and I just wanted to pray. Father in the name of Jesus, You are the God of all comfort and I just pray Father for Your supernatural comfort to fall upon this beautiful couple. Lord, I just, spiritually, Holy Spirit is telling me that there is so much blessings wrapped up in this little baby that’s about to be born and Father, I just pray in the name of Jesus that You would extend strength to this couple. Strength, not just to handle the baby that’s coming but strength to trust in Your perfect will. You know what You’re doing, Father. This baby is not a surprise to You, nothing is a surprise to You Father. You’re ordaining their steps and something miraculous and amazing is gonna happen.

Hi DAB family. I’m gonna keep my identity to myself this time because I might be sharing some things that are sensitive and I don’t know if some of the people I have encountered in this pass might be DAB listeners and if they are that would be wonderful. They might be. Anyway, I attended a lot of people and I kind of burned every bridge that I had when it came to getting ministry opportunities. I went to Bible college and graduated a couple years ago and I realized that over the last few years, I sewed some pretty bad seed and I reaped an awful harvest this last year. A lot of that didn’t come back to surface until I started, you know, inquiring for ministry opportunities and I just kept getting no and we don’t trust you, kind of responses from the various organizations that I was with and it’s unfortunate, it’s me. I damaged my own reputation. I mishandled information, I was immature, I did all kinds of things that I shouldn’t of done and I think all this is kind of a huge lesson from God to see if I would be willing to forsake and give up, you know, this big shiny Bible degree that I got from a Bible college and be willing to have him take me in an completely different direction that I wouldn’t expect and I’m terrified of what that might be but I’m looking for Him to reveal to me the true spiritual gifts He has. And instead of the ones I assumed that I had, that I’ve realized I don’t. So, I been in a dry spell, but I also been, have had my vision renewed and I’m grateful for what He’s done and I’m excited to see what comes in the future.

Hello, my DAB family. I’m calling regarding the last caller I just heard on the 24th from Farmers Wife from New York. Let me start by saying a huge congratulations on that news. Your expression is massive within God. And you mentioned you’ve had a history of depression and you haven’t had a job and ya’ll are anxious and you don’t know how, it’s all uncertainty. My dear, focus on God. He has given you that child and He will provide for that child. You shouldn’t allow that worry you. We don’t have control of our tomorrow. We can barely control the next second. Alright so, focus on being heathy, staying well, taking care of you, taking care of that baby and focus on just making yourself available to be a channel for God’s blessings. Because that’s what we are, we’re channels through which He provides for our generation. So, focus on that. And my people will say that God does not bless us with children by looking at what we have in our hands. He blesses us with children because He knows He is able and capable of providing for them. So, do not worry, do not fret about “am I gonna be a good parent” or “will I be able to do this” or “will I not be able to do that” “will I be able to provide” “are we gonna”, no, no do not let the enemy take your joy. This is a joyous moment, enjoy it, be happy. Live in the moment, you are going to be a mom and you will be good one. So, do not let anyone or anything put anything otherwise in your head. God bless you my dear.

Hi, this message is for Jane Ruth from Nebraska. Jane Ruth, this is Reba a nurse from Nebraska. Hey, first I have to say the one thing that causes those worst of us Nebraskans. The weather in January and February. Oh, it’s horrible hun. If you’re like me, the highs and lows and the winds, and the wind, I dare I say the wind, just really reck havoc on our emotional, mental and spiritual health. The sunsets may be beautiful, the sunrises may be beautiful but man, everything in between with that wind and the wind and the snow and the fog just the ups and downs of the weather, just really can make you feel like, I don’t know who I am. And then you’re stuck inside. So, let’s just start there Ms. Jane Ruth. Remember Spring will come. Also, I just want to pray for you for your emptiness. Heavenly Father, I just lift up my sister Jane, Ms. Jane Ruth. I ask for her and as well as everybody else of the Daily Audio Bible, can sometimes feel like, uh, I just want to crawl back in bed and cover my head with a pillow. Father, I ask that You would stir us to go sit in front of a window and let the sun just hit our face to remind us of the beauty of Your creation and to take in as Ecclesiastes 3 says, every time there is a season, you have to have the highs you have to have the lows and everything in between to be truly grateful for everything that You have done for us. Dear Ms. Jane Ruth, I just pray for you in the aspect of if you feel it’s a medical thing or if you feel it’s just a season thing or if it’s loneliness or if it is financial, whatever it is Father, I just pray that You would be with Jane Ruth.

Hi, DAB family, this is Redemption Wings. It’s my first-time calling in. And I’m from Virginia. I’m calling in tonight well, I said I was gonna call for myself but I’m actually calling in tonight to ask the Global Campfire to band together for prayer for my brother Bryant. He’s been making tremendous strides in piecing his life together and I’ve been seeing so much positive transition. And I’ve always had his back throughout our life. But now I’m seeing that he’s doing a lot for himself. So, currently, he and his girlfriend are homeless but he just came into information that there is a hotel close to me, I got him close to me, that has a program that if he’s able to get in, and he do it, that they would cover his hotel costs for 12 weeks, which would be beneficial for him and his lady to get on their feet. And they’ve escaped a lot of things from being in a drug infested area to many demons that exist in the area that they were. And his will power has led, not only him, but he’s also gotten his lady out of that environment by the power of God and the mercy and grace of God. So, if we can band together, please to pray that this is successful for them, I would really appreciate it. And this is my first-time but I don’t believe it would be my last time. And so, thank you everyone, I love you all and I enjoy this platform. In Jesus name, I pray that it all works.

Exodus 8:1-9:35, Matthew 19:13-30, Psalms 24:1-10, Proverbs 6:1-5

Today is the 29th day of January welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is awesome to be here with you today as we gather and as we move into the Scriptures and take the next step forward together. We are getting ourselves quite moved into the book of Exodus now. And, so, we…we can kinda see that there is a showdown of sorts materializing. One between Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and one between the God of Israel, and there have been some tests along the way, some proofs, some miraculous signs for Pharaoh to see. And he’s been able to replicate some of those with the magic arts of his magicians. But God is about to move things into a way that cannot be replicated. And, so, let’s take the next step. Exodus, chapters 8 and 9.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for bringing us these weeks into this brand-new year and all that You are speaking. And as we watch the hardness of Pharaoh’s heart and the devastation that it is bringing upon him, we recognize that You said it would happen, but we also recognize that he could have humbled himself a lot earlier and all of these things didn’t have to come upon the land of Egypt had they humbled themselves before You, which becomes a mirror into our own lives. And we begin to think of all that…that we could’ve avoided, but our rebellion has often…has often brought great devastation into our lives. And even as we read from the Gospel of Matthew today, this very famous story that parable of the rich young ruler, we realize that whatever we are clinging to or holding onto or leaning on or depending on that is between us is not in its proper alignment. Anything that is between us that we are not willing to surrender is in the wrong place. And, so, as we consider these things today, we invite Your Holy Spirit to come and speak to us and surface things and reveal to us the directions that we are headed in and where they are going, that we might humble ourselves before You and return. Come Holy Spirit into this we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi this is Naleen from Dubai again. I…I just want to give a praise report. I called in about a year ago - all the problems at work and a very bad boss - and finally the last couple of months it’s gone well. Got a new boss and he’s so kind and a good general manager. So, thank you God. Thank you, Jesus. Today I’m calling from my brother. He’s in England. He has a family of four, his wife. And he’s a…he’s a good man. He’s a great believer and everything is not too much for him. But now he needs prayers. His name is Lloyd… To find a job. He had a very good job but with the crisis especially in England with COVID they had to downsize the company and…and he's…he’s from south Africa like me but to go back is not possible and I just…his kids are happy in the school. So, please just pray for…for us for him. And whatever God willing has to happen. And just thank you for this this wonderful place. And thank you for all of you. I listen to all of your prayers, and I pray along, and I believe so much in this. Thank you. Have a great day. Bye.

Hi, it’s me Kaylie and I’m praying for my friend Azzahra. God, please help her to feel better soon. Please help her to be able to fight the cancer soon. Please help You to make her well soon and please help her to get better soon. Please help the treatments will help her feel better soon and…

Dear God we lifted the farmer’s wife and the farmer and we pray that You will bless their family, bless their child who…in their womb Lord and pray that they will nurture their child’s spirit as it grows and that they will just give all of their worries and uncertainties and unknowns to You and that they’re in Your hands so that they can rest in You, so that they can grow in You and so their child can also rest and grow in You Lord. I just pray that You will provide for them and that they will just have a blessed marriage and parenthood in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Hello family this is Harmony in the Hill Country. There are so many in this family that are struggling with thoughts of suicide. Someone I love greatly is struggling with this right now and I’d like to ask you to please pray for them and pray for all of us who are walking with them. The many DABbers that are struggling know that I am praying for you. There are so many people here praying for you and you are not alone. The thing that strikes me is the depth of this spiritual warfare. Satan attacks hardest the greatest threats to his Kingdom of darkness. And how great of a threat to him you must be if he is going after your very life. Think about that. It is less of a threat to him to try to send you to Jesus than to let you say on this earth and mess up his plans. That means that God has great work for you this side of heaven that isn’t done yet. And Satan is scared of you. Please don’t give him that victory. I am still the side of heaven because of therapy and medication and if you are struggling, I beg you to please give that a try. If you tried before and it didn’t work, please try again. Don’t be afraid to call the hotlines. Some even at testing options. A good therapist can help you make a safety plan if you can’t afford it there are even options for help and support. Suicide prevention hotlines are a really great place to start. Please call one today. Keep fighting. We have a lot of work here left to do. And someday I will celebrate with you in heaven, and it will be wonderful. But that time is not now. Don’t let Satan convince you to leave early. Please…please say.

Hi, I’m the first-time caller I’ve been listening to since about 2014 and right now…last year was a really hard. My husband had major surgery on his heart and now I’m just concerned about him in general. I mean, it’s hard to see your husband lose his confidence because of health. Lord, I…I thank You for this podcast. I thank You for everything You do. I need prayer to help us through, make us stronger. And thank You for everything You do. Thank You for this podcast. My…I’m from Virginia. My name’s Kimberly and right now my hope is a little depleted. I just…sometimes I don’t know what to do. I don’t know what to do. Only God can fix this. I need your help. I’m just helpless. I don’t want to feel that way, but I do. I just want the best for him and everybody in my life and people that aren’t in my life. Thank you for your time.

Exodus 5:22-7:25, Matthew 18:21-19:12, Psalm 23:1-6, Proverbs 5:22-23

Today is the 28th day of January, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It’s great to be here with you today continuing our journey through the Scriptures this year and continuing our journey in the book of Exodus where God has determined to set his people free from slavery and the enslavers. The Pharaoh of Egypt in particular has no desire for that to happen. Today, Exodus chapter 5 verse 22 through 7 verse 25.

Commentary:

Okay so, in the gospel of Matthew today, Jesus is talking about something that he talks about often. We have already talked about this right at the end of the Lord’s prayer because immediately after the Lord’s prayer, here in the book of Matthew, Jesus instructs that we must forgive and live in that posture of forgiveness because if we won’t live in that posture of forgiveness, if we live in unforgiveness then we won’t be forgiven our sins and I’m not making that up, you can go look it up and He does the same thing today and so I quote “so also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart.” And that, that line, that sentence is the end of an illustration or a parable to unpack this. There is a great King, in this case this is the Lord, this is God and the great King decides to settle up his accounts and so He starts bringing in people who owe him so that the accounts can be settled one way or another and someone who owes Him a tremendous amount, an overwhelming amount, comes before Him and the king says okay can’t pay so we gotta get the money somehow. And so, you and your family will be sold to settle this debt and then you can worry about it from there. The man falls down before the man and begs mercy, mercy, mercy give me time, mercy I will pay you back. And the great King is moved with compassion toward this person and sends him on his way forgiven of his debt completely. Something he could have never really paid, was forgiven and lifted off of his shoulders in full. So, this man certainly must have the weight of the world lifted off of his shoulders and be so relieved that he’s kinda floating off the ground. I mean, and in one scenario he would be taken into custody and sold as a slave, while his family was collected. In this other scenario, he walks away free and there and the debt is forgiven. He ends up running into somebody who owes him and so he wants to settle accounts with himself and the person begs in the same way for mercy and time: I will, I will pay you, have mercy. And the man will not have mercy and throws him into prison. And when the great King finds out about this, things don’t go well for that man, which leads us to what Jesus says, so also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart. So, one of the things that were supposed to grasp in this parable is the great King who has the right to settle the debts and has the right to offer forgiveness or mercy. He is the great King. So, when this person comes and begs for mercy the great King forgives him, setting the example of how the posture of life is supposed to be lived. This man goes back out into the marketplace and immediately finds somebody who owes him and will not extend mercy. So, if we have a boil this down we’re going to receive what we offer. If we do not show mercy, we are not going to find it. If we will not walk in forgiveness, we will not find forgiveness. And on a topic like this when there are so many caveats like, there are so many nuances, so many little loopholes that we can say well you know this this or that or the other thing that was done to me is unforgivable. The thing is, so is our trespasses against the Lord, the great King, they’re unforgivable, we have no way to repay, we can ask for mercy and for more time but we’re never going to get righteous on our own. But by enacting a posture of forgiveness in our own lives, without just missing the things that have happened like, some things take some time, some things need some help. Some things are very convoluted and twisted but we have to begin to move into a direction that tells ourselves, our very beings that forgiveness is the posture of the kingdom of heaven. This is how it works and it’s super easy to wish this is not how it works. I get it. We human beings have a tendency to do some awful things to each other, often the people we love. But 1001 grudges, 1001 unforgiving moments is not a pathway toward freedom, the lightness of heart and spirit understanding there’s nothing between me and anybody else. I stand here before God as his servant, a living sacrifice, that is where we’re headed. If we are dragging around all of the offenses that we have ever received, that is not the pathway to freedom. That means we are dragging around a bunch a heavyweight that is keeping us in bondage. The move, for every single one of us, is to begin to move into the posture of forgiveness from our heart and sometimes all we can do is say I release this to you and then say it again in 90 seconds and in a minute and in five minutes and keep going and keep going. I release this to you God. Sometimes, that’s all there is to it. And sometimes that is the first of many, many steps. The important thing is that we are moving into a posture that tells us when we find an offense it is not there for our collection. And indeed, we have the opportunity to consider what mercy looks like. The way Jesus is framing this, is for us to look at what we have been forgiven. And so maybe that really is the first step for some of us in our pathway toward forgiveness on certain things, is to truly fully become aware of what we have been forgiven and what we are being forgiven of every day. Like, how much mercy and forgiveness we are consuming every day just to be here. Jesus speaks of this often. He speaks of it in terms of the kingdom of heaven and how it is shaped and how it operates. We all want to be participants in that kingdom and there are no shortcuts. This is how the kingdom of God works, isn’t this at the very center of the heart of the gospel of Jesus Christ, that we can come as we are, no matter where we’ve been, no matter what we’ve done and seek mercy and forgiveness and be made new again. You can forgive sins friends. I’m not saying you can forgive sins against God. I’m not saying we get ourselves elevated to the position where we become the judge. Although we sure like to play that role a lot, but we can be forgiven, our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And here we are now approaching the end of the first month that we shared together this year. This becoming the posture of our lives. A focus of attention and awareness. This can change the rest of the year so dramatically that it’s hard to believe. And this can change our lives going forward so dramatically that it might just look like sanctification, it might look like we are moving in the right direction to becoming Christlike because this is Christlike.

Prayer:

And so, Holy Spirit again, we cannot on our own, in our own strength accomplish any of this. We cannot be righteous before you on our own. We understand this and it’s a struggle because we find offense and trespass against us and against others all the time, in big and small ways and so this is a constant. This isn’t an event; this is a posture of life. But in truth we want to be free and although this may be a difficult path, this is a path to freedom. And so, Holy Spirit the great Comforter, come into our brokenness and help us to part from the offense, help us to part from what we are holding on to. We don’t have to pretend any of these things that we may be holding offenses about, we don’t have to pretend they didn’t happen, we have to release the poison of unforgiveness from them. Come, Holy Spirit, we can’t do this without You. Help, help us, we pray in the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Prayers and Encouragements:

Hi, this is Tammy from the Adirondacks, calling in. I believe you said your name was Jane Ruth. You called in on the January 22nd podcast and you just, you touched my heart sister. I know that feeling where you just wanna hide in your bed or hide in the hole and cover and just forget about everything else that’s happening. And I just want to lift you up in prayer today. You’re not alone, you’re so not alone. So, Father God, I ask You to be there for our sister Jane. I ask You to touch her Lord, touch her in the way that only You can Father God. Be that comfort that she needs Father. You are our great Comfort. You are our Healer and our Protector and our Shield. You are our ever presence help in times of trouble Lord. There is nothing that we can do without You Lord and we know that, that You can pull Jane out of this feeling of despair that’s she’s having. We know Lord that You can just raise her up with Your righteous right-hand Lord and heal her heart and heal what’s broken. And help her Father God, in a way that only You can because You are God. You are our Lord of Lord and our King of Kings. So, I just ask you Father to come against whatever this is that is causing such sadness for her. Let her know that she’s loved by the most high God. And that she’s not alone. In your precious name, Jesus we pray. Amen. I love you sister, you’re not alone and God will see you through this. Bye.

Hello, my DAB family this is Jaime in New Jersey Standing on the Word of God. Please pray with me. Dear Father in Heave, we thank you for Your comfort and presence in our lives, we thank You that You are always with us. Today, as we look at the world around us, we see that there are so many that feel alone. The circumstances of the world have isolated so many. There are also those who walk their paths with seemingly no one to call a companion or friends. Father, we have asked to see the world through Your eyes and today, we lift up the lonely and ask that they would experience Your love, faithfulness and compassion. Please come right now and be near them. Let all of us sense Your presence and peace. We invite you to invade our lives and take away the loneliness of Your children. We thank You for the promise of your faithfulness. Help the lonely to remember that You see them even when others don’t. We ask that You would bring along others into their lives that they might experience friendship and love. We pray that the burden of their loneliness would be lifted and that Your presence and blessing would fill their lives. Father, where we have an opportunity to be a friend, don’t let us miss the mark, help us to extend Your love in this lonely world for Your kingdom and glory. We pray in Jesus name. Amen. Thank you for praying my brothers and sisters. May none of you feel alone, God is with us and he loves us and so do I.

Hi, Daily Audio Bible family, this is Natalie from Arizona. I’m calling today to pray for the Hardin family and remind the Daily Audio Bible family to keep them lifted up in prayer. I’ve been listening since Jill was pregnant with Ezekiel, Ezekiel, Ezekiel or just before that. And I remember when China announced her baby and it was so exciting and I just thought wow, this is amazing and China’s so fortunate with her husband and her baby and their growing family. And then, it dawned on me that with them being so faithful and serving the Lord and committed to this, the enemy must hate that and attacks. And we know that the devil is not omnipresent but I’m sure he wants their family and the devil probably wouldn’t have too much time for me, I’m pretty simple, I don’t have much going on and what the Hardin family is doing, it is so far-reaching, the enemy wants them and so we have to keep them lifted up in prayer. We have to be committed to supporting this ministry and whatever ways we can. We’re big, we can pray, we can give, we can tell others about the ministry. Let’s be strong in that this year. Keep the Hardin family lifted up. I love you guys. I love you all.

Good morning, Daily Audio Bible community. This is To Be a Blessing in California. Lisa, I wanted to let you know that I heard you this morning as I was listening to the podcast and I hear your needs for a new job, to be in a place where they see you, they get you, you can be yourself, you’re not it a toxic environment, you can thrive. I know what that’s like. God delivered me. I kept wondering what was going on. God created a position for me and it’s the right fit for me. Every time I tell people what I’m doing, everyone says that’s perfect for you, that’s perfect for you. And I know why because I serve a perfect God, as do you. So, He will deliver you. Every no is getting you closer to a yes. Trust Him, hold onto His hand, know who you are and whose you are as you look for your identity, continue to look for it in Him. He’s got you covered. And He has your husband too. Family, I ask that you would pray for Lana, she has extreme abandonment issues, she’s been spiraling out of control recently and it’s been getting worse and worse. Her self-worth has just been hammered from the time that she was a child and her family kicked her out of their home. So, I pray that you would pray for her. As well, if you would pray for my brother. Different situation but he is still getting smaller and smaller and wanting to move all the time and not content. I feel like he’s pulling a geographic and he’s looking for something that only God can give him and he is not interested in God at this time but I know that God is working on his heart. So, thank you for lifting him and lifting Lana up and Lisa we’ve got you too, covered. God bless each and every one of you. To Be a Blessing in California.

Exodus 4:1-5:21, Matthew 18:1-20, Psalms 22:19-31, Proverbs 5:15-21

Today is the 27th day of January welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it is great to be here with you today as we come in out of the cold and warm ourselves around the Global Campfire together and move into the Scriptures in a peaceful place simply allowing the stories to come alive in our hearts. And, so, let's…let’s move in that direction. We’re reading from the English Standard Version for this week. In the Old Testament in the book of Exodus we’re just…we’re getting to know Moses. We met Moses when he was born. He grew up really fast within a few pages. He has had to flee Egypt. He has become a shepherd and while he is shepherding he sees a bush that is on fire but is not being consumed and he meets God there who tells him He is who He is, “I am who I am.” And God is preparing Moses and instructing Moses to go back to Egypt where his fellow Hebrews have been enslaved and give them the news that God has heard their cry and is going to rescue them. And Moses is kind of having a back and forth with God about how that’s gonna work. And we pick up the story there. Exodus chapter 4 verse 1 through five verse 21.

Commentary:

Alright. So, in the gospel of Matthew…I mean we’ve been in the gospel of Matthew since we began on January 1st so we’re…we’re well on the road. And one of the things in Jesus talks about often is the kingdom of heaven. And, so, it’s not unusual than to think that his disciples would at some point come to Him and say, “who’s the greatest in the kingdom of heaven” because Jesus is talking about a certain kingdom, the kingdom of heaven, but they’re filtering that back through their culture and understanding what this is gonna look like. And they think a restored Israel booting out the Roman Empire and restoring this entire ancestral homeland to God, that’ll be the kingdom. So, what that hierarchy might look like would be of great curiosity to the people who have left everything to follow Jesus. Jesus answered the question poignantly by getting a child and putting him on His lap and essentially saying, “this is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Or to quote Jesus, “unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” And we can probably understand what He’s saying here specially if we have children, especially if we have small children or can remember back to when we did have small children. You remember when they looked at you as their parents and they trusted you and thought you were superhuman and full of magic and seemed to know everything? Well if we have raised children through that season and into the teen years and through the teen years into adulthood then we know they grow out of that feeling toward us and at some point they think they actually know everything. Jesus is saying we have turn back and become children of our Father the most high God, trusting Him as a beloved child would trust their parents. That’s the posture. That’s how this is supposed to be done. That’s how this life is supposed to be lived. Which isn’t to say that we trust that our Father will come to our rescue every ditch that we go into, every brick wall that we smash into, everything that we annihilate around us. That’s after the fact. That’s when we think we know everything. But a trusting, obedient child, beloved and protected by their parents, they don’t have those kinds of worries. And, so, on the one hand, this is such a relief. On the other hand, it’s a concept that’s easy enough to understand and much more difficult to live into and definitely connects to the concept of being born again, getting to start over and be fathered by God as His child, trusting. It becomes far less interesting who the greatest is when we realize with humble awe that we are in at all, that God looks upon us as a son or daughter.

This contrasts pretty significantly from what we’re reading the book of Exodus because what we read in the book of Exodus today is really really sad. There are a couple of moments in the Bible that every year they’re very very sad for me I guess mostly because they’re my life. In the Garden of Eden after Adam and Eve have eaten the forbidden fruit and they’re hiding, God comes and it's…it’s so sad because He says, “what have you done? What did you do?” And we’re all guilty. But in the book of Exodus God, “I am that I am” has come to Moses and explained to him what He’s calling him to do what He has prepared him for. And Moses does all kinds of squirming. They’re not gonna believe me. Who am I gonna tell them? They won’t buy this. How can I prove that you’ve sent me? Who do I say sent me? And the Lord keeps encouraging him and telling him I’m going to go with you. I will be with you. And Moses says something very sad. Could you send somebody else? I can’t come past this story without feeling it in my heart. It’s like, yes, I have done that so many times, but that probably wouldn’t be the posture that I take, or even the resistance that I might have if I actually were living into this with the trust and faith of a child. And, so, there is much for us to consider today from the Scriptures.

Prayer:

Father we hear, we hear clearly and now we have to humble ourselves and actually release control in order to have this faith like a child completely trusts You in all things and will do what You ask of us. So, Holy Spirit come and show us the path that leads in that direction. That is the path that we need to be on. That would be the narrow path that leads to life, and that is the path we want. And forgive us Lord for the many times in thought, word or deed that we simply throw up our hands in the air and say I can’t do this, would You send someone else. Come Holy Spirit. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Song:

Send Me – Church of the City

Open these eyes
To see them like You do
Teach this heart
To love like You
Open these hands
To heal the way You do
More than words
Let my life speak truth

To the orphan child send me send me
To the outsider send me send me
To the one in need send me send me
To the least of these send me send me

Open these ears
To hear the Father’s cry
Take up my cross
And lay down my life
Open church doors
And let the streets resound
With songs of hope
As we go out

To the orphan child send me send me
To the outsider send me send me
To the one in need send me send me
To the least of these send me send me

You said what you’ve done for these
You have done for Me
You said what you’ve done for these
You have done for Me

You’re the orphan child
You’re the outsider
You’re the one in need
You’re the least of these

To the orphan child send me send me
To the outsider send me send me
To the one in need send me send me
To the least of these send me send me

To the orphan
To the outsider
To the one in need
To the least of these

Exodus 2:11-3:22, Matthew 17:10-27, Psalm 22:1-18, Proverbs 5:7-14

Today is the 26th day of January, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is fantastic to be here with you today. I mean, every day, that’s true of every day. It’s wonderful to be around the Global Campfire together as we take the next step forward. We have been reading from the English Standard Version this week, which is what will continue to do. Yesterday, we finished our first book in the Bible which was the book of Genesis and then we began the book of Exodus. And so, we kind of talked about the territory that we were moving into and the fact that as we turn into Exodus, we’re moving forward a couple of centuries. All of the children of Israel, the original children of Israel, it’s a couple hundred years ago so they’ve all passed away. But they had children along the way and they have become as numerous as the sand on the seashore and now the Egyptians are afraid of them and have enslaved them. And all of those details are to lead us to be introduced to the next major leader or figure that we’ll be following with for quite a while, his name is Moses. Pharaoh had ordered that all male Hebrew children be thrown into the Nile River to drown. Moses was put in the Nile River in a basket. Pharaoh’s daughter found him, had mercy on him, hired his mother to nurse and raise him up and then when he was old enough, deliver him to her to be her son. The son of Pharaoh’s daughter. And so that’s how Moses, a Hebrew, is educated like of the Royal class and yet he is a Hebrew, which causes some dissonance in Moses heart and that’s where we pick up the story. Exodus chapter 2 verse 11 through 3 verse 22 today.

Commentary:

Okay, they’re several things in the Scripture reading today that we could talk about and some of them we will talk about as we continue forward. For example, in the gospel of Matthew today Jesus says something pretty profound “for truly I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain move from here to there and it will move and nothing will be impossible for you”. So, obviously faith is something that we will talk about in many, many different ways as we move through the entirety of the Scriptures, but let’s just acknowledge that if what Jesus is saying is true, then faith, even a little bit is astoundingly powerful. I mean, a mustard seed is a tiny little seed, tiny, tiny little seed in the palm of your hand, it just doesn’t work in the same way that brute force works. Like, we can understand like I’m just going to go get this thing done. Whether we succeed or fail, we’re just gonna go take matters into our own hands, step in and give all of our strength at something. We can even pray thinking like, I’m praying in faith, I’m getting loud, I’m commanding the promises, I’m calling down heaven. This is gonna happen. But the reality of how this works is our faith is not in this thing being changed, our faith is in God. God in his sovereignty can do anything and our faith is in God.

Then we move into the book of Psalms for a quick second and there are words that begin the 22nd Psalm that should be familiar “my God my God why have you forsaken me.” If you’re familiar with Jesus story at all than you know that he’s quoting from this Psalm when he’s dying on the cross, which is a story that we will be encountering for the first time not too long from now.

Then we flip back into the book of Exodus and God introduces Himself to Moses and He introduces Himself by saying I am, who I am, which is profound in it of itself. It’s like to describe God using human terms is so woefully short of the mark. God often uses attributes about Himself to describe Himself in a way that human beings can understand and so often those attributes are what we know and so we kind of flesh out this picture of who God is, when the truth is we are created beings, we don’t know or have the capacity to fully comprehend what we’re talking about when we are talking about the most High God. So, Moses is like who am I supposed to say sent me, there gonna ask me, who sent me and God’s says, tell them I am that I am, I am sent you. And so, let’s just remember that a small amount of faith in the I am, who I am is one of the most tremendous forces available. It may take all of forever to begin to comprehend the beauty and magnitude and authority and sovereignty and power of this great I am but we are underway. Let’s not put ceilings on who God is, for we have much to learn. Thankfully, according to the Scriptures, I am, the God of all things wants to be known. So, we could spend this year and we could spend the rest of our lives trying to figure this out and put it on the spreadsheet and get into formulas about what God will and will not do and who he will and will not do it with. All we can realize that as we read the Scriptures, God will do what God will do. He is, who He is, there is no other, there is no one higher, there is no one more powerful, He bows to no one, He has created this all. So rather than trying to figure out His movements and who He’s going to do things with maybe we could just focus our efforts and our hearts affection upon knowing Him and allowing the rest to just fade and recede into the background.

Prayer:

And so, Father truly, truly at the heart of it all, we come here every day, certainly to learn from the Scriptures and to be taught and counseled on how to live and how to be in this world and often we’re majoring on the minor’s that You, the most indescribable, most powerful, most holy, most beautiful knows who we are is shockingly humbling and we repent and apologize for our arrogance. For the way that we try to portray You. Forgive us for the damage that we’ve done to ourselves and to others in the pursuit of controlling what You do and do not do as if we have a say. You are the most high, we humble ourselves before You, the Great, I am. And we, worship You in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Hello, Daily Audio Bible family, this is Richard the taxi driver. Who is today, a dump truck driver to pick up the snow. Because here in Connecticut we have snow and it reminds us how every day you know, we have to pick up some stuff in our life, getting a checkpoint. And the story of Joseph, oh my Gosh, how inspiring to my life because this guy, he doesn’t complain about anything. He gets human trafficking by his brothers then he, he gets going to prison because he wants to do the right thing, you never hear him complain or anything. Me, I’m complaining all the time, I complain my wife this, my wife that so much to learn you know. And even Jesus, all the way to the cross, you know, what did He do, on the cross he said Lord, Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing. So, Lord, my prayer for us today, for me and myself is to give us this same, you know, the same understanding, patient and love you have towards our fellow man. And to forgive them because they don’t know what they’re doing. So, on that happy note, hallelujah Lord, bless my beautiful community with Your showers of blessings Lord and surround them with your arms of love. And, I love you everybody, have a great and blessed day in Jesus mighty name, Amen.

Hello Daily Audio Bible family this is Shining Star and I felt moved by God to call and just to tell Him, to tell you guys about how sweet and on time and completely there for us God’s love is. I have been going through, of all the difficult times in my life, I’ve been going through one of the most difficult times, literally the last three weeks, since the beginning of this year. And it’s been so confusing. And listening to the Daily Audio Bible and hearing Brian’s voice and hearing your voices has just kept me in the game. It’s kept my head where it needs to be and kept me looking at God. But specifically, the other night I had such a difficult night and I was called to do something I didn’t think I could do but I realize more and more everyday that it, God is holding me in His hand. He is kissing me with every difficult thing that has happened. I want you all to know that, I want you to know that God loves us. And that His love is so sweet and on time. Thank you guys, I love you all, I pray for you all.

This is from Junk to Treasure. I need a miracle. I need lifted up before the throne of grace from my DAB Family, please pray for me.

Good morning, my name is Tonya. I’m calling from Suffolk, Virginia. I want to say that I’m so glad that I was able to learn about this app from one of my previous coworkers. It has really been a blessing to me and to listen to others testimonies and the things that they are going through and trusting and believing in God and having that strong faith. It has allowed me to become closer with God and allowed me to be stronger in the word. I’ve been having faith for a long, long, long time. But I’ve just made a prayer to God that I will become closer to Him to become more connected starting this year. And once again I’m so glad and so thankful that I was able to come across this app in reference to one of my coworkers that she had placed it on Facebook. And I just continue to pray for others listening to the testimonies and once again the things that others are going through and I just thank God just even for allowing me to, to be able to listen and to tune in to what you guys are going through and know that God is a healer, God is a deliverer, God is a comforter. So, all that’s going through things I just continue to pray for you all and just know that you are not alone and God say that He will be there for you through the good and the bad. And I just thank the DAB family once again for your testimonies but like I said that allows me to become strong in the word and to become connected more to God. I pray that you guys have a wonderful day and once again I just want to thank you all.

Genesis 50:1-Exodus 2:10, Matthew 16:13-17:9, Psalms 21:1-13, Proverbs 5:1-6

Today is the 25th day of January welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian and it’s lovely as it always is to be here with you today as we move forward, taking the next step in the Scriptures. And today is a special day, kind of a milestone day because today we will be completing our first of 66 books. We will conclude the book of Genesis today and then move into the book of Exodus and when we get there we’ll talk about it and orient ourselves to the new territory that we’ll be heading into in the book of Exodus. But first, we’re reading from the English Standard Version this week. Genesis chapter 50.

Introduction to the book of Exodus:

Okay. So, that concludes the book of Genesis which brings us to the book of Exodus, the second book in the canon of Scripture. And, so, as we turn the page and begin this new book of Exodus, we need to understand that as we turned that page centuries past. We’re not entering into a new story. We’re entering into the same story centuries later. Joseph has been gone now for a long time. So, what he did centuries earlier to preserve life in Egypt has basically been forgotten. In fact, the children of Israel, Jacobs kids…well…we’re centuries in the future, so they have all lived their lives and passed away. But while they were living their lives, they had children and their children had children and they kept having children generation after generation after generation. So, now what started out as 70 people leaving Canaan for Egypt is now a massive population in Egypt, enough of a population to give the Egyptians pause. Like they could come up against us. And, so, the Hebrew people, Israel’s descendants, the children of Israel, the Hebrew people were enslaved in Egypt and things were on the decline. Things were not getting better. In fact, the king of Egypt, the Pharaoh of Egypt decided to enact some population control among the Hebrew people commanding that every Hebrew boy that was born be thrown alive into the Nile River where they would die and float away, but the girls could live. So, if you were at one point in your family genealogy free people with the promise of God over your life to have the land that was promised as well as progeny that were…would be as numerous as the sands on the seashore but now you are a slave in a foreign land, the land of Egypt, and at the command that if you have a boy he has to die, well then you can see there’s a dilemma. And they begin to cry out to God in their anguish. I mean, the Egyptians may have forgotten Joseph, but the Hebrew people know their story and they know this promise, even though it centuries later and it has not been fulfilled yet. They remember Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and Joseph. And very soon we will meet a baby boy that is supposed to be thrown into the Nile and is put into the water, but he doesn’t die in the water. He’s rescued and he grows to be a mighty leader in Israel, a leader that again is a rescuer, a redeemer, someone who is a great prophet among them. His name is Moses and we’ll be traveling a good stretch with Moses. And, so, we begin the book of Exodus chapter 1 verse 1 and we’ll read through chapter 2 verse 10 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, we have talked about where were moving into in the book of Exodus and we have met Moses as we talked about a little bit ago.

Let’s look at Matthew for just a quick second because we’ve crossed sort of a climax point that happens in the synoptic Gospels that really is sort of…the narrative is leading us to this point. And we’ll talk about this in the future. But Jesus is on his way to Caesarea Philippi. It’s a pretty good, long, long walk. It’s a pagan place. And Jesus asks what people are saying about Him. And they tell Him what people are saying about Him and then He asks the poignant question. Probably the most poignant important question not only in the Gospels but in all of human life, “who do you say that I am?” And the answer to that question sets in motion a pathway, a full trajectory of life and the way that that life is conducted and lived. And it is worth continual consideration because our lives are saying something. We can say who we think we think Jesus is from our lips and that’s fine, but how we live our lives is truly our declaration of who we believe Jesus is. But the important question for us to consider is, what are we saying? “Who do you say that I am” was the question from Jesus. And that is a question to ponder. I know we have the right answers. I know we can say the right things, but it is still a question to ponder. Who are we saying that Jesus is in our thoughts? Who do we say Jesus is in our words? Who do we say that He is in our actions?

Prayer:

Jesus, we invite You into the…the question. You asked the question, and we must answer it. And, so, come Holy Spirit reveal our hearts and reveal to us what we are saying with our lives and lead us on a pathway that leads towards our sanctification and into the truth we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi this is T from Colorado. I have a 5-year-old granddaughter that is in my home one day and her drug addict mom pulls her out the next day. She sobbed last night, and…and it doesn’t want to go back there. I’ve reached out to social services. I’ve prayed. I’m discouraged. God’s not listening to me. I just need help. I need to keep this child in my home. I need prayers. I’ve never done this before. So, I really don’t know what I’m supposed to do. But anyway, God bless you. And thank you…

Hi this is Verlin from Alberta and I just heard a prayer request from grandma on the 19th who has COPD and bronchitis and I just want to pray for you right now. Lord Jesus, I just thank You for Your care and Your love and just the evidence that You’ve shown me in…in just personal things lately. But God I just pray for this lady. I pray that You would heal her and give her ability to glorify You with strength and whether You heal her fully or…or not I just pray God that that she would feel Your hands just lifting her up and baring her up and in her…in Your arms. I thank You in Jesus’ name. Amen.

This message is for Crystal. She called in today and it just reminded me of a story. I’m in a Men’s ministry and have been since 2008. But my name is Steve from Albertville AL. When I was living in Arizona studying to be a minister to men I come across this husband and wife and they gave their testimony. The wife started. She said her husband in his 60s left her for another woman, left the church, left everything but she was faithful, the wife was. And she set a place for his dinner every night at 6:00 o'clock. And then in the bed beside her, he was a commissioned man, and she laid his sword there. For 20 years this woman did this. And I’m not saying you have to go through this for 20 years. But she had faith that she prayed that God would restore everything. And one rainy night 20 years later there was a knock at the door. The wife said come on in suppers ready. And she's…he sat down and said I’m sorry. And she said it’s dinner time we’ll talk later. They they were still married when I left Arizona and he was in his mid-80s. But what I’m telling you sister is don’t lose faith. Don’t lose faith. Gather stories of encouragement. Gather everything you can to continue to pray for your husband and your children. Again, Steve Porter from Albertville AL. God bless you in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Good morning, everybody this is Madison from California. This is my first full year with the Daily Audio Bible. I was listening last year about halfway through. I’ve called in before. But this morning I really felt like I needed to share just a reflection I had. And actually, as I was listening to today’s Daily Audio Bible, today’s the 20th of January, I felt like I got two confirmations to share. And, so, I actually wanted to say in advance that to the woman who has been separated from her husband, I think that this might be especially for you but I think it’s for everyone else too. I was reading an article last night about how important it is to read the Bible as a story about God and to read these stories trying to see what God’s character is like. And today as we were reading about Joseph and how God brought him into this situation where, you know, this really big national disaster in Egypt was going to happen God was actually being so merciful not just to Joseph but to pharaoh and to the people of Egypt. And I guess the takeaway I had from that is that God is so kind that even when terrible things happen He lets us know what’s going on and He invites us to trust Him through the process. And that’s something I’m really holding onto in this season. And I encourage you to hold onto it as well. So…

Hey DAB it’s Refined by the Fire in Ohio. I wanted to take a minute. Just happy new year first of all. And I’ve called in since the beginning of the year but man, January is flying by. And welcome anybody who’s just started listening and congrats to everybody who’s made it this far already. Just hang in there. Just one day at a time. Keep going. Aside from marriages ‘cause I am praying for you guys in your marriages, that’s just huge in my heart this year, the other thing that God put on my heart this morning was just teenage parents. And it’s really funny at this point in my life but I forget sometimes that that’s where I came from. So, I became a mom at 16. I was a junior in high school. And it is amazing to me just how God continued to hold my hand and carry me through the years. My daughter had special needs. And gosh if you had asked me to sign up for any of that I would have bailed in the first, you know, anything…thought of medical is not in my wheelhouse. But you know what? He is faithful and He is good and no matter what your choices He is always waiting to pick you up and carry you on. So, just cling to Him and lean into Him and remember how good God is always good. So, gotta run. Love you guys. Talk to you soon…

Genesis 48:1-49:33, Matthew 15:29-16:12, Psalm 20:1-9, Proverbs 4:20-27

Today is the 24th day of January, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is great to be here with you today as we gather in our little safe oasis around the Global Campfire, set aside everything else and simply focus and relax as the word of God washes into our hearts and lives and gives us instruction counsel. So, we’re reading from the English Standard Version this week. We have been traveling first with Abraham right and then Isaac and then Jacob, whose name is Israel and that he had a bunch of kids, the children of Israel. Then we kind of zoomed in on one of those children of Israel, named Joseph and followed his path all the way to slavery in Egypt and his ascension to be second in power over the whole land. We’ve witnessed Joseph’s brothers come and finally you understand that the very person that they trafficked is second in command in Egypt and so they bow before him as he had dreamed long ago. And eventually they make it back to Canaan and tell Jacob or Israel, their father, that his son Joseph is still alive. Then we traveled with Jacob and the 70 of his household down to Egypt where they are reunited with Joseph. They have settled in the land of Goshen, in the land of Egypt and today we will say goodbye to Jacob, whose children are the children of Israel. A family that the Bible pays extraordinary attention to. Today, Genesis chapters 48 and 49.

Commentary:

Okay, our reading from the book of Proverbs today is very difficult to ignore and probably extraordinarily unwise to ignore, since this is the book of wisdom. But encapsulated in today’s reading is an entire posture for life and if wisdom truly is what we’re seeking then it gives us a gauge so, let’s just walk through it. My son, be attentive to my words. Incline your ear to my sayings, that’s pretty clear. Listen to me, let them not escape from your site, keep them within your heart. So, what wisdom speaks we should not lose track of it. We shouldn’t let it out of our site, we shouldn’t let it out of our heart. If we would do that it would be life to those who find them and healing to all their flash. Life and healing is something that we all want and that we all seek. And seeking wisdom is the path to what we seek and then we move on, and this is so important, keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. So, everything about us flows from our hearts. Even Jesus was talking about this in the book of Matthew. It’s not what goes in your mouth that defiles you, it’s what comes out of your heart and through your mouth. And think about it, if you believe and have it accepted and received Jesus and believe that He is with in you, then where is He? In your heart. There is nothing more central in our lives above guarding our heart, the place where God dwells within you. And then we go on, put away from you crooked speech and put devious talk far from you, pretty self-explanatory. All of the nuance and spin that we bought on things in different situations to mask other things, that’s crooked speech and the way we can shade the truth or manipulate people with our words, that’s devious. Proverbs tells us to put it away from us. It’s not leading anywhere good and then moving forward, let your eyes look directly forward and your gaze be straight before you. So, basically if we’re driving a car, we need to stay in our lane right, and if we’re weaving all over the place, we’re either going to injure somebody or ourselves or we’re going to get pulled over and arrested but isn’t that generally how life works? If were moving in a direction, we’re moving toward something, we’re walking a straight path then we’re likely to get to where we’re going. If, what we mostly do is, try to figure out what we can get away with than our gaze isn’t straight before us, we’re not looking directly forward and as the Proverb continues it builds on that, ponder the path of your feet, which pay attention to where you’re going, that’s important. It’s important in a car and it’s important in life. The Proverb says then all your ways will be sure and then building on top of that, do not swerve to the right or the left, turn your foot away from evil. So, the Proverb isn’t breaking down categories of what you can and can’t do and what you can and can get away with and it still be okay. The Proverb is giving us the underlying wisdom that we can apply to all of the situations in our lives. So, we were looking at the fourth chapter of Proverbs today, the 20th through the 27th verse, and it would be worth revisiting maybe throughout the day, maybe throughout this week, it could change the complexion of what this week could look like. But this is wisdom and truth for life itself. And if we’ll but pay attention it could save us from so many train wrecks.

Prayer:

And so, Father, we thank You for Your word, yet again as we will do most every single day because we are grateful, we are grateful for the way that it touches all of the different parts of our hearts and our motives and our actions and our words. And we want to walk the narrow path that leads to light in a straight line, but there are things pulling us in every direction all the time and there’s no way to sort it out or cut through it without the power of your Holy Spirit. And so, Holy Spirit come and teach us to be wise and lead us deeper into Jesus, and lead us into the truth, we pray in Jesus name. Amen.

dailyaudiobible.com that is home base, that is the website and its definitely where to find out what’s going on around here and how to get connected around here. If you’re using the Daily Audio Bible app, you can access all these things by pushing the drawer icon in the upper left-hand corner. And we were just talking about Proverbs and so importantly, that I just mention again Daily Audio Proverb, that is another channel here in the Daily Audio Bible family and that is like five minutes or less of an investment of time in any given day, but that five minutes or less day-by-day, step-by-step allows us to move through the entire book of Proverbs every month. So, we get to go through it 12 times in the year, that’s the wisdom that is found in the Scriptures poured into our lives and if we’re beginning to get the picture here, life, at least according to the Bible and according to the Savior Jesus, is an inside out thing, not an outside in thing. So, if wisdom is within us, it can certainly come out of us, especially when we need it and when do we not need wisdom. So, check out Daily Audio Proverb in addition to Daily Audio Bible, as we move through the entire Bible in a year.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, thank you, humbly, deeply, profoundly, thank you for your partnership, we wouldn’t be here if we weren’t here together. Prayer and Encouragements:

Hey good morning, DAB family. This is Aussie Bear in Australia. It’s Wednesday, the 19th of January and it is 5:45 AM. I’ve just finished listening to the podcast from yesterday and the prayers at the end of that and the first three, the first three cabs off the rank, were from three brothers in Christ and I just felt really moved to pray for all three of them because they are three men who are really struggling and so I just wanted to pray for them. So, they are for Michael the Greatest Trucker and for Jesse, Jesse in New York and Eric in Tampa, Florida. So, heavenly Father, I just ask for Your blessing and Your love and grace and mercy to flow over these three men who are struggling. They all are struggling for different reasons and I just ask for You to carry them through the next few days and through these struggles that they’re facing. And Lord, I just also ask for Your blessing over the face that these men exuded so much courage to be able to get on and ask for prayer and to lay themselves out vulnerable before the DAB family with their struggles. I know for a lot of men, that’s a hard thing to do because there’s, there’s a stigma attached to being a bloke and you know, to not be vulnerable, to be strong all the time. And I mean, that’s such a façade and I just ask for You to honor the strength and the courage that these men showed in getting on here and asking for prayer. And I ask this in Jesus name.

Good morning, DAB family this is LaChula calling from the City of Angels. Today, is January 19 and today, a year ago is when I started listening to the Daily Audio Bible and haven’t stopped. I know many of you have completed the year on December 31st but today is my completion of the year. And I just want to thank God for the person that I am today is not the same person that I was on January 19th of 2021. I am beyond grateful to God, to my husband, who introduced me to the DAB and to the entire Hardin family who continue, Pastor Brian, to inspire and encourage and to speak from a place where the Holy Spirit dwells. I just thank the DAB Community, this Global Campfire has brought me through so many seasons with my family. I thank you and I just want to wish everyone a beautiful, blessed day. And I’m praying for you brothers and sisters. You inspire me by calling in and being courageous and transparent in speaking from a place where some people might say it’s brokenness, I say it’s vulnerability and that that we are Jesus hands and feet. And if we don’t pray for one another, then who will? I just thank you again DAB, you are amazing and have a great day. Bye.

Hi Daily Audio Bible fam, my name’s Mannie. This is my 5th year tuning in and unfortunately, I’ve never been able to stick to it for an entire year. I usually fall off the wagon by October. But this year is gonna be different. I’m making a commitment to stay consistent and to really soak in the word of God and to incorporate it into my life. I pray for everyone this year. I pray that this year is filled with peace and laughter and courage and love and happiness and humility and compassion for ourselves and others and for our friends and our family. I pray this year is a year of remarkable change, remarkable growth. That we may be more focused on our path to You Lord. And that we may be willing to learn and to be patient. Lord, continue to shower us all with Your grace, with Your mercy and Your love. Amen. Have a great year everyone. Have a wonderful, wonderful year.

Hello Daily Audio Bible family. This is Anne in Tyler, Texas and I wanted to let you know that I have been very intentional about sending a link through text and email and telling people I meet the blessing of Daily Audio Bible and I’m now on my 14th delightful year being blessed by this ministry effort. Thank you Hardin family and I’ve had the blessing already this year or receiving back a handful of people responding that they are listening new to Daily Audio Bible or they used to listen and now they’re coming back on board and so I wanted to encourage everyone to try to be intentional about sharing the link and telling people about it. Show them the app on your phone, say oh, it’s so easy to download in your app store, it’ll change your life and you’ll go through the whole Bible in a year, how often would you read that? It’s easy to listen. So, God is using the ministry and I’m so thankful for it and we can help evangelize the world by sharing an easy resource. So, go at it fellow community DABers in sharing this good news. Thanks, God bless you all. I love you and I love praying with you when you call in.

Hi, DAB family this is the Farmer’s Wife in chili upstate New York. I am calling for prayers for my husband and I just recently found out I’m carrying our first child. And it’s a lot to take in. We’re excited for this child, we’re both very nervous. And I have a history of struggling with depressing and my and am really working hard to combat that. And our financial situation is very strained. I have a very advanced degree but I haven’t been able to find work that brings joy which is difficult. And we’re just, it’s a new adventure, becoming parents for the first time. One that we are trying to leave our baggage behind and start anew. But it’s very overwhelming and I’m not to the point where I’m super excited yet although we both love this child. It’s just really overwhelming so we ask for your prayers.

Genesis 46:1-47:31, Matthew 15:1-28, Psalms 19:1-14, Proverbs 4:14-19

Today is the 23rd day of January welcome to the Daily Audio Bible and welcome to a brand-new shiny sparkly week that we are entering into, a fresh start for us. No matter what was going on last week, this is this week and this week can be shaped and will be shaped by our thoughts, words and deeds, by what we do and by what we leave undone. And I have found no better resource for helping in making those choices than by immersing ourselves each and every day in the Scriptures. And, so, off we go into this brand-new week. We’ll read from the English Standard Version this week. And we’ll be picking up our story in the book of Genesis with the…with the story of Joseph, who is anticipating seeing his father for the first time since he was a young man, a teenager. And obviously Joseph who had thought his son was dead all of these years is anticipating seeing if his son is actually alive. And, so, let’s dive in. Genesis chapters 46 and 47.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word and with a heart full of gratitude, we thank You for the Scriptures, this tangible gift that we can hold in our hands and hold in our hearts, words that guide and direct and shape us, stories of people who have gone before us and how they navigated and where those pathways lead. It gives us a glimpse into the trajectory of our lives, and we are grateful. And we ask Holy Spirit that You would come and lead us. Lead us on the path that we should go. Lead us into all truth. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Dear Lord Jesus we come together around the campfire and pray for Amy in Phoenix AZ, a devoted mom of in an autistic 4-year-old son. I pray Lord for this little boy that soon, very soon he would be potty trained, and he would make some progress and that you would guard his little heart. And in the meantime, Lord I pray for every family member for his sibling or maybe there’s more than one sibling, for each one and for mom and dad for grandparents. I pray that anything that the enemy tries to use this in an evil way truths are known by your grace and favor Lord. Integrate great blessing for this family. Come Lord. Thank you that Amy reached out to ask us for prayer. And I pray for all moms and dads that you give them strength and courage in Jesus’ name. This is Candace from Oregon.

Hi Daily Audio Bible family I’m new to this family and just really love it and appreciate it and am calling quickly for…for two people that really touched my heart. One, the mother who called in and who had this spirit of suicide on them. And I just want to say that as a mother myself I…I…no one does anything perfectly no matter what you see on Facebook or Instagram, and we all make mistakes. But true children just need you and love you. And, so, I rebuke that spirit of suicide, I rebuke it, I…Father please take it take it from her and destroy it and I lose peace and love in your family. But I also wanted to pray or at least comment…sorry about…someone who called in from Vegas and who was…it was a praise report and it just made my day. It was so beautiful. It was a praise report for a job and a new boss, and it just made me realize how much our father must…must want that from all of us, right, all of us. And, so, I wanted to say thanks for that praise report because it made me realize that…that…that I need to be praising more, praising God. And finally, for myself I have an unusual name, so I’ll just go by Lawyer Lawyer in Chicago. And I have a very big case, filed a very big motion in court this morning. It’s more of a David and Goliath case and I’m the little David against a very big firm. And, so, just  thank you family if you happen to pray for me…

Hi, DABbers it’s Carla Jean from Nevada. I am…was planning on calling to thank everybody for praying for my daughter who was suicidal in October with postpartum depression. She is feeling much better now, has gotten into a therapy and has been on medications and she’s starting to really feel like her old self again. So, thank you for your prayers. And now the reason that I’m calling today on January 18th is because this morning I received a text from my best friend’s husband Andy, and he told me that he was going to kill himself and then he went missing. And he was found by the state police, and he did in fact die by suicide today. I’m asking for your prayers for his wife Nicole. We’ve been friends for 44 years and Andy was just 50. We all went to high school together. They have two kids in their 20s and they just really need some prayers because I don’t know how this is gonna go. I’ll be flying to New Hampshire to be with them through this nightmare. I’m just praying that Andy finally found the peace that he’s been looking for all these years and that Jesus is holding him tight tonight. Thanks for your prayers. I love you all. Bye.

Hi this is Tammy from the Adirondacks calling in for…I just got done listening to the January 18th podcast and I believe her name was Jessie and then there was an Eric I believe that called in, your dad’s in ICU and then there was a young woman that called in with health issues and it all just…you all just sound…faith…I guess it all just comes down to our faith and being new Christians and…and walking this path. And I’m just calling to encourage you. I too am a new Christian. There’s health issues and just a lot of similar…similarities. Don’t lose faith. Keep pushing and keep fighting the good fight. That’s what it’s about, is our endurance. God doesn’t make the bad things happen. God gives us the faith to get through every single day. It’s kind of like a test to just see if we can do it. And you can do it. You can. You can do all things through Christ who is your strength. Remember that. Remember when you feel like, oh I’ve sinned or oh I’ve gotten this wrong or oh this is happening to me, what did I do wrong. You didn’t do anything wrong. God is for us. He is good. He is worthy and He loves you. He formed you all in your mother’s womb and He knows every hair on your head. He’s counted them. He loves us. He is for us. We serve such a mighty God. Don’t give up on yourself because God won’t give up on you. And I’ll be praying for you brothers and sisters. Love you. God bless.

This is Biola from Maryland, I hope you are all doing well. Brian and Jill God bless you. God bless you China, Ezekiel, and the whole family. You know Daily Audio Bible has such a community of colorful folks and I listen to different prayer requests, and I comments, and I laugh I clap I pray. You know this is truly a community. Well, Remorseful Sinner I just want to let you know that once you’ve asked God for forgiveness, I pray that His power, you will sense His power in your life in the name of Jesus. That __ and power, you will sense it all over you in Jesus’ name. I want to thank God for you our sister from Texas, Dorothy. It’s six years young. God bless you, my sister. I was…I was laughing hard when I heard your…your call. God bless you. And then sister from Wyoming who will be going to celebrate her mom whose birthdays on February 5th. Sister I just want to say let go. Ask God to help you to let go and forgive your mom, forgive everything from the past and let God just watch you have a great time with your mother. And I pray that God will continue to let her live her life in good health and the name of Jesus. Angela from Alabama I’m praying for you that God will give you wisdom even as you make decisions this year in the name of Jesus. And I also just want to lift up the sister who had called in and just asked God for help with her daughter Veronica and her own life in general. Lord I pray that You would touch Veronica, that she would have a great relationship with her mom and sister. I just want to pray that God will give you a sense of belonging and comfort even as it calms your heart in this season in the name of Jesus.

Genesis 44:1-45:28, Matthew 14:13-36, Psalm 18:37-50, Proverbs 4:11-13

Today is the 22nd day of January, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is wonderful, it is an honor to be here with you today as we gather to take the next step forward through life, but through our adventure through the Scriptures. So, let’s get started. We have been following the story of Joseph and we’ll continue that story as we continue our way through the book of Genesis. Joseph has met with his brothers now, for the second time but this time they’ve brought his brother, Benjamin, his full-blooded brother Benjamin. He and Benjamin are the sons of Rachel and Jacob. And so, this has been a fairly overwhelming experience for Joseph. Although he’s kinda keeping that private. Today, Genesis chapters 44 and 45.

Commentary:

Okay so, in the book of Genesis the story of Joseph isn’t over yet and it leads us to the next important story, but at this point in the story where Joseph has revealed himself to his brothers there’s so much drama there. Can you imagine? It’s like Joseph has come back from the dead and by the time they get back to Canaan, which is how we end today and Jacob is told that his son Joseph is alive. So, the two sons that he had with Rachel are still living, it’s like a resurrection. But we saw the Joseph continued to press in and surface the issues with his brothers and in the process his brothers got the opportunity to experience helplessness and some of the terror that there brother Joseph would’ve felt as he was being dragged away into slavery. And it’s in today’s reading, that Joseph’s heart is fully revealed because we’ve been watching this story and pretty much none of the things that happen in this story all the way until he stands before Pharaoh, none of those things were fair or just are good are right. Joseph had every human right to be bitter and angry and upset and depressed and hopeless. He had every reason to become a shell of who he could have been which is one of the things that makes this story so compelling. He’s not raging at God, he’s holding on to God as his only hope and in today’s reading he reveals his perspective and I quote, “I am Joseph your brother whom you sold into slavery in Egypt, but don’t be upset and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives, it was God who sent me here not you and He is the one who made me an advisor to Pharaoh.” So, if there is one thing, one thing that we can grasp here and carry forward with us, it would be the Joseph took the long view. There wasn’t a point at which he said my story is over, there’s no way out of this, it’s over for me. He kept his hope in God, realizing that the story is never over with God and in the end, he gave God all the glory for putting him in the position that he was in, understanding that God’s hand was in all of it. God was with him in all of it and the story would’ve been quite different if things didn’t happen in the way that they did. Which doesn’t mean we just turn a blind eye to injustice around us or the things that are coming against us, it’s the long view. The New Testament tells us that God works all things together for the good of those who love him, for that to be true we have to have the long view of things. There isn’t a point where our story is over. Although there are plenty of points in our story where we don’t know what’s going on. So, the choice is to give up and descend into hopelessness or trust that there is more going on than we know. And if we will cling to God, the story will unfold.

Prayer:

And so, Father, we thank You for preserving the story of Joseph for us because we need to remember this, we demand near instant gratification in nearly everything in life and often the challenges of our story are actually the most meaningful and promote growth and endurance and trust in us. So, Holy Spirit, come give us the long view. We pray in the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Hi family, this is Sally in North Dakota. Say, I’m calling today to pray for Rosie. It’s great to be free in Jesus. Rosie, I heard your call and I just wanted to lift you up. You said you’ve lost several family members in the last three months and that you’re starting to feel sick almost and I’m sure, you know, just the whole emotional ride that you’ve been through. Heavenly Father, I thank You for Rosie, I thank You for her love for You. I thank You Lord that You are the great comforter. Father, I ask that You would allow Rosie’s heart to be at peace, that her emotions and her mind will be able to rest in You. We thank You Lord that You understand our grief and that You come alongside of us and You hold us and You remind us of our eternal hope that we have in You. And I thank You Father for just comforting Rosie, for being there for her. You are faithful to do that for us. Rosie, I love you and I will continue to lift you up in prayer. I’m glad you called in, bye for now.

This call is for Jesse. This is Transplanted Yankee from Alabama. Jesse, I heard your voice this morning and my heart went out to you. About 15 years ago my husband saw the down-turning economy and lost his business. He thought the Lord wanted him to be a Christian businessman. This was devastation. This was devastating to him as a man as a provider. There were times I would see him sitting outside staring and I’d think, Lord, preserve him, our three boys need their dad no matter what. It is hard for me to even recount today because the Lord took us through that time for a purpose. I am still not fully aware of what that purpose was but Jesse I do know this, we are more firm in our belief of the gospel of Jesus Christ and our purpose here on earth is not to collect things but our purpose here in life is to collect people for His kingdom. We grew as a family. It was the most devastating time with two boys graduating from High School and going to college, what would we do without that money. We circled the wagons, we laugh now and say shoot, we didn’t circle the wagons, we sold the wagons. We just dealt with the bare necessities and about 7 years later we have come out of that time. But I know this, God supplied our needs. He supplied a check for workmen’s comp because my husband had no claims. He supplied over abundance escrow account somewhere else. Time and time again, God supplied our needs and gave us a peace and I pray that for you.

This prayer is for Jesse and also for the truckdriver that lost his identity. Both men our struggling right now and I just want to pray Lord, that you cover them. Let Your presence be known and let Your healing begin on each of them. Father, I just pray that You just guide their paths and let them know that beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Lord is with the both of them. They just need to hang on and have faith and trust in the Lord for redemption and for His help. So, I lift up both of them today, each of them touched my heart today and I just wanna pray for each man out there. Be with them Father. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Hi, this is Jane Ruth in Nebraska. I really don’t know how to say this except that I’m feeling very unlike myself. Usually, I think the face that I show to the world looks fun and vivacious and happy go lucky, kind of the life of the party. But really, I just want to crawl in a hole and pull the hole in after myself and it’s, I mean, I’ve had a history of depression, I mean, diagnosed bipolar. I’ve got a long line of alphabet soup behind my name but you know, I have believed in the word of God and I continue to believe that God changes people through His word. You can read the Bible like any other book but no Bible, no book reads you like the Bible does. Anyway, I need to request prayer. I don’t even know how to ask for help; I don’t like to do it at all. But I just pray that God would help me to deal with what’s going on. JaneRuth322@gmail.com. Thank you, I love you.

Genesis 42:18-43:34, Matthew 13:47-14:12, Psalms 18:16-36, Provers 4:7-10

Today is the 21st day of January welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is wonderful to be here with you today as we reach the three-week mark in our year. And, so, we are beginning to settle into the rhythm, the one that will carry us through this year each and every day then. And, so, let’s dive in and take the next step forward together, which leads us back into the book of Genesis and back into the story of Joseph, who has now come face-to-face with his brothers, the brothers that trafficked him. We’re reading from the New Living Translation this week. Genesis chapter 42 verse 18 through 43 verse 34.

Commentary:

Okay. So in the book of Genesis, we are following the story of Joseph and it has a lot of twists and turns. We’ve taken a round-trip journey from Egypt back to Canaan and then back to Egypt again today. His brothers return home to their father Jacob or Israel. They tell the whole story about how harshly the man, the leader in Egypt who happened to be there brother, they just don’t know it, had treated them and how that they would never see his face again unless they brought their brother Benjamin back. This is a very distressing thing for Jacob because Benjamin is the only son that he has left with his wife Rachel who has died. And his son Joseph, he also believes is dead. So, Benjamin’s the only one left. And, so, he procrastinates until they’re about to run out of food again and then finally with great distress he releases Benjamin to go to Egypt. They arrive in Egypt. Joseph has them brought to his own house where they’re gonna have lunch and they’re freaking out about it. And then Joseph is able to experience seeing his brother Benjamin, the one full blooded brother that he has. His other brothers have different mothers. And this brings on a tsunami of emotion in Joseph’s heart and he has to leave and weep alone. And you…you can almost feel the tension here in this story between the brothers and Joseph. It’s as if he wants to rush in and just reveal who he is but he’s being cautious. They trafficked him. They sold him. They passed him off for dead. They’ve been carrying this secret for a very long time, and the truth is, after they sold Joseph, they don’t know whether he’s dead or alive. They don’t know where he is. He’s gone, as good as dead. And Joseph could solve that mystery, but he’s being cautious. He’s waiting. He’s finding out what he needs to know. And one of the things that he deeply needs to know is the position of their heart. So, if we can feel the tension in the story we can only imagine living through the story, the tension that would have been there, the dissonance in Joseph’s heart and mind, the confusion in his brothers. But the tension is actually bringing to the surface the issues and we’ll see that going forward.

In the book of Matthew today Jesus is talking about the kingdom of heaven, and that is something that Jesus talks about a lot. And we’re sticking here in these first couple of weeks really close to the stories that are being told in the book of Genesis, because if we can get the lay of the land and understand that we are talking about a family and we saw the development of that family. And, so, there are now 12 sons of Israel, the children of Israel. If we understand that they will grow into a large multitude of people and it will be these people, Israel, the children of Israel that we will be traveling with through the entire Bible. If we can kind of get the lay of the land, there then it’s a lot easier to stick with story and not just be lost in all of these names and how they may be connected. In the New Testament we’re reading the synoptic Gospels. So, a lot of the stories we’re reading in Matthew, we’ll also encounter them in Mark and Luke. And, so, we’ll have plenty of time to dive in. But Jesus is talking about the kingdom of heaven. And this is a central theme as we move through the Gospels and witness the ministry, the earthly ministry of Jesus. And this helps us be rooted in the New Testament to what’s being unveiled or revealed. And that is one of the things that Jesus came to announce and reveal, the kingdom. And that concept, the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of God, we…we talk about that a lot even today. But we also make assumptions. Thankfully, we have the Gospels that tell us the message that Jesus was conveying. And, so, Jesus says, “the kingdom of heaven is like a fishing net that was thrown into the water and caught fish of every kind. And when the net was full, they dragged it up onto the shore, sat down and sorted the good fish into crates and threw the bad ones away. And that is how it will be at the end of the world.” So, if we look at that and break it down, if the kingdom of heaven is like a net that it is thrown into the water to fish, then it’s not a net that is for a specific kind of fish or a specific size of fish. The net will catch whatever fish that swim in altogether, all in the net. It all gets sorted out later. Or the example that Jesus used in, I think it was yesterday’s reading, about a field that was planted with good seed, but then others came into sort of diminish or destroy the crop and planted weeds all among the good seed. And this wasn’t discovered until everything started to sprout. And the servants asked the master, “should we pull up the weeds?” And the master said, “let them grow together so as not to destroy the crop. It’ll get sorted out in the harvest.” This is very interesting because it’s very inclusive. And we can read it now and go, “yeah, all are welcome. Yes, I get it.” But at the time that Jesus is giving these messages the Hebrew people, if we’re using the analogy, believe they are a specific kind of fish, a chosen fish, an exclusive fish. And, so, Jesus is beginning to lay out a disruptive message but He’s also laying out the fact that we’re not the ones that will be doing the sorting. And it seems as if we’re trying to major at sorting things out on behalf of God all the time when we’re not the ones that do the sorting. We are not the ones that will harvest and throw the weeds away, which is a supreme thing for us to remember. These messages that Jesus is giving begin to chip away at what people thought that they knew even the religious people thought that they knew what God wanted. Jesus’ message is that you’ve got it wrong. And, so, we see that although the people love to follow Jesus and to hear Jesus, the religious…the religious establishment is getting antsy about Him. And we’ll get the chance to watch that progress because we know where the story leads. The story leads, which is Jesus hanging on a cross being crucified, executed, in a horribly humiliating and painful way. And we will certainly be exploring that as we continue forward as well.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for bringing us this three weeks into this brand-new journey and we are grateful for all that we have read, all that we have contemplated, all that You are speaking to us through the Scriptures. And Holy Spirit we ask that You help us to hold onto these things. May they be planted in the soil of our lives. May there be harvest as we grow deeper in our love and understanding. We pray this in the name of Jesus our Savior. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi DAB family this is Liza calling from the West Coast. I hope you’re doing well and happy new year to all of you. I’ve been praying for each of you. I can really use some prayers over my relationship with God and really my faith this year. I have been going through a lot of rejection both with job searching and also with dating. And, you know, I…I think something that I’ve really been learning from God is just that the only approval I need is from God not from, you know, a person or a company. And, so, I could just use some prayers over having the strength and kind of resilience and trust in God this year as I continue to search for a job, as I continue to, you know, look for my husband. And, so, I also could really use prayers that eventually sooner than later that I get out of this toxic company that I’m working for and find somewhere, you know, where I’m appreciated and valued and where I’m really able to be myself. And the same thing with meeting my husband. You know, I’m really exciting to find out who he is and meet him soon. And, so, I really could use your prayers that God just helps me remain faithful in the journey and that every person that I meet that I learn something from them. And also, I could continue to use prayers over my finances. I’m still in a lot of debt. And, you know, finding a job, part of that is also just finding something that can help me pay off all of my debt from student loans. And, so, just trust in God that with my finances and knowing that tithing and giving to others is part of my…the way that I spend my money. So, thank you for your prayers. I am praying for each of you. Have a great day.

Hey Daily Audio Bible family James the teacher. You know, I was listening to the January 16th podcast here on January 16th and getting caught up after a couple days behind and listening to people talking about getting through the Bible all the way for the first time in a year. And something struck me. This has happened to me a few times now but there have been situations where I’ve been in a church small group or talking with some believers and the subject of being familiar with the Bible comes up. And, you know, someone can ask me, “have you…have you read the Bible?” And I said, without trying to sound arrogant, “yeah…I’ve been through the Bible…I don’t know…gosh…at least 10 times.” And I’ve been a believer for coming up on 22 years. And that doesn’t make me special or superior, but I just realized because of this amazing resource this amazing community this is available and the support to stick with it is here every single day. This is honestly astonishing. And no, I…I haven’t learned everything there is to learn in the Bible by any stretch because the Word is living and active. That’s God. I don’t know all of God, but I’ve made my home here. And I just wanna welcome everyone in this community who’s visiting who’s new here. Welcome home. It’s your home in the Word. It’s your home in Jesus Christ. We love you. Welcome.

Hey guys it’s Marjorie from New Mexico. I’m just calling in for a prayer request from my mom. She’s 76 years old. She has bipolar disorder and she’s on medication for it and she’s been drinking. She’s been drinking quite a bit. I am her power of attorney for her medical needs and she's…when I’m not there she…she goes, and she buys alcohol, and the alcohol is counteracting the effects of her medication. So, she’s falling back into the bipolar disorder. And guys I’m worried about her because she’s also very fragile. She’s very skinny. She also has Crohn’s disease and she’s not stable on her feet when she’s not drinking. So, when she is she’s even worse. And I just dread the day that I find that something happened to her. So, I’m just asking you guys to cover her in prayer and ask the Lord to take this affliction away from her so that she…she can get well again. I love my mom and I don’t want anything bad to happen to her and I just feel at a loss. And I know that I have to give it to God. And I did but then I took it back. So, also pray for me to just leave it with Him because he knows the best. Thank you, DABbers. Love you all.

My dear dear Rosie it’s Susan from Canada God’s Yellow Flower calling in to pray for you. Dear Lord Jesus she’s been through so much that her heart is just heavy. It’s only You…only You can lift the burdens that she’s bearing. And we ask dear God that in Your precious and holy mercies that You would lift Rosie above the cares and troubles of the earth. Heal her heart dear God so she can soar with You. This heaviness is keeping her down. And we ask dear God that You would just lift it. Bring peace in her heart, bring fullness in her heart. Fill up the space with Your love that all her loved ones have left behind. And we ask dear God many blessings upon her as she turns to You for peace and joy and love. In Jesus…

Dear God, we lift up Rosie who has lost five family members. I pray that you would comfort that family Lord and that you will provide healing for them including Rosie in Jesus’ name. I also lift up the marriages Lord, the spouses who our doubting God, falling away, or that have not yet decided to follow you. Let us pray that You will move in their lives. I pray that You will speak to their spirits and that You will heal them. Open their eyes. Allow them to see You in new light through dreams or ideas or however You want to reveal Yourself Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
