Leviticus 6:1-7:27, Mark 3:7-30, Psalms 37:1-11, Proverbs 10:3-4

Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am absolutely, positively not Brian, but I am the other, I guess, I’m the other half of Brian since the two of us are one. I am Brian’s wife, Jill, for those of you that are new this year. Welcome to this amazing community led by an amazing man. I have watched my husband go from word reader, Bible reader, to theologian to lover of God’s word and I am immensely…I am one immensely proud wife. Welcome to a new day, to a new mercy, and a new living breathing word. It is truly an honor to be here with you. I know how seriously Brian takes this, I see what he does every day, day in day out, no matter where he’s at. So, it is truly an honor that he has entrusted me with this mantel of carrying the word. We are reading today, starting in the Old Testament, the Christian Standard Bible translation on this 18^th day of February, and we begin in Leviticus 6:1 and we’re reading through verse…I’m sorry…chapter 7 verse 27. And we will see what kind of names he has left for me.

Commentary:

Every day this community gets Brian’s explanations at the end of this. He’s become this theologian, this deep historian, and this man that can explain the Bible and interpret in a way that just makes it clear and understandable, which is…it’s just such a gift. Many of you like me have said, “I’ve tried to read the Bible through…I mean…I was even a junior Bible quiz student growing up in my church and just didn’t understand Scripture. And the way that Brian explains it and delivers it is so beautiful and so rich and its such a gift and I feel bad that you’re stuck with me today. So, my offering today, where I see myself in the Scripture is in the passage in Mark. I find myself all too well relating to the scribes who walk into a situation where Jesus is casting out demons, demonic spirits, and even knows what’s about to happen so He tells the disciples to have the boat ready and before long here come the scribes. And I, with conviction, say that I ashamedly find myself with the scribes. And here’s what I mean by that. When the natural mind cannot comprehend what fits into our religious confinements, when we do not understand outside the parameters of our belief system, and if it doesn’t fit into our theology and our denominational confinements, boy, we like to call it the work of the enemy, don’t we? If we can’t understand it, it must not be holy, it must not be God. And, so, if it’s not of God it is automatically of the enemy. And I think so often we find ourselves, I find myself, blaming God for things He is not responsible for and blaming the enemy for things that God might be actually a part of. But in this particular Scripture  it is the work of the enemy and Jesus is taking it upon himself and casting out demons and the scribes come down and they insert their personal opinion and their personal belief system which we do so many times in so many of the wrong places. And Jesus responds in a way that only He can. He responds to them with a question and I hear the conviction in my own heart as the question is presented, “how can Satan drive out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. You know, we often pin that quote to the speech that Abraham Lincoln gave often forgetting Jesus himself said it first. And it’s so true. When my husband and I are not on the same page in parenting our kids can detect it and they’ll utilize it in their favor, right? We often reference that in government but what about this statement to be true in our churches. And if we go a little bit further inward let’s look into our homes. And if we were to go in just a little bit deeper, what if we look into our own lives?

Prayer:

So Jesus, we invite You into all of the places that we do not understand with our natural mind, we invite You, Holy Spirit, to bring understanding and direction and counsel and guidance and we can do that so much more clearly when we stop and give room for pause and room for breathe and room for You to speak into that which we do not understand, but we must create space for You to speak. And we can do that so much more effectively if we will stop before we jump to assumptions, before we make our conclusions, before we reach for our religious rules and boundaries and parameters and confinements and restraints and allow You to do what You do, which is guide us, counsel us, direct us, correct us, break us outside of our comfort zones and break us outside into deeper waters as You call us into the deep. So, Father would You forgive us where we have inserted our own personal preferences and opinions of what we think we already know. And when we do that we allow You to come and show us more of what we don’t know, that we need to know and give us a longing to know You more. How I long to know You more. Give us Your eyes to see, Your ears to hear, and Your mind, give us the mind of Christ. We love You. We are so grateful for all that You are, all that You’ve done, all that You have not done because You know better and all that You are yet to do. In the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit.

They will give you as close of an in-depth look as you possibly can through virtually being there through social media. And I am personally asking you to cover the team while they are there. I was there a few years ago with Ezekiel and I knew it was a hardship for my husband and for Mike who goes and assists and all of the other people that are there working but I had no idea the depth of the trip, especially for Brian. It is…he will not tell you this…it’s grueling for him. And, so, especially starting off with jetlag. There’s no way to get around that and the responsibilities that he has to do to keep the Bible read fresh while he’s there and all of the other demands of the trip. So, please, please cover him in prayer as he goes and the rest of the team and all that are on the journey and the pilgrimage. I say this almost every time I get behind the mic but it is your prayers that sustain our family and this community and I cannot, cannot highlight the magnitude of what I just said. I would have to give you stories and that would take time, but your prayers are the sustenance and the wind that keep this ship assail for lack of a better analogy…well…I guess…to keep a fire burning you have to have a little bit of wind to pick up that…to keep that fire, that ember burning. And when it’s about to die, when the wind picks up you’re gonna have a good frame. So, thank you for your prayers as always. Thank you for being a community that truly prays and cares for one another. It is…it’s beautiful to see you bear one another’s burdens. And I think sometimes the tendency is to think if Brian could just pray for me know…if, you know, if that pastor, if that evangelist could just pray for me all will be well. If they could just hear my story. It’s not physically…here’s the bitter cold truth. It’s not physically possible for Brian and I to meet all of the demands and the needs of this community. It is possible for all of us to do it for all of us together and you all do it beautifully, absolutely beautifully. So, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for doing what we can’t. And we can't…it’s not because we don’t want to…it’s that we are physically incapable of doing all that there is to do and we do a lot throughout the day and it seems like, you know, we could very much get thrown into the idea that there’s not enough time in the day. There is exactly enough time in the day. We just have to manage it well. So, thank you sincerely for picking up where we leave off and for being the beautiful body of Christ. Good morning Daily Audio Bible, my name is Chris, I’m calling because my wife struggles with infertility and because I am an obstetrician I sought and obtained a donor which led to a frozen embryo. Maybe I did not seek God’s will long enough, but my wife was against adoption. Maybe I did not insist in her receiving counseling prior to doing this treatment but afterwards her behavior was definitely strange. Anyway, our son was born in 2015. Then in 2017 a job opportunity came up and my wife seemed excited because it meant security for our family. We prayed about and then we went and moved three hours away without her at first but only to give her a little time but not for more than a few weeks. Well, she barely came during that transition, but she did come to choose our new home and then she disappeared. I found her months later and she refused to __ my file custody of my son and she trumped me by signing for a divorce. Since then she’s claimed that she was counseling and has placed the divorce on hold but she’s still withholding my son and denying access even against courts orders. I have an attorney but he’s very slow. It’s now been one year since she’s filed for divorce and longer since she ran off with my son. Please pray that she’ll do the right thing. Her name is Carla from the Hudson Valley region of New York. Her stronghold is her mind. Her mother who’s a pastor and a strong matriarchal __ family. Also, please pray for me. I’m definitely __ stronger in my walk than I need to be, pray for my mind and for my son to be returned. He’s my only son. I am my dad’s only son and my dad waited 82 years for him to be born. My son’s name is Andr…My son’s name is Andred. Thank you.

Hi family I’m just calling on behalf of Karen. You called in. I just want to start off by saying I’m very happy and grateful that you did because you had a change of heart and your seeking change. You want…you want change. You want God to work in your heart and in your life and help heal the broken places for you and your son. So, I pray for starters that this change can be made permanent, solidified. And I pray that the Spirit of God will clearly guide You on what to do next, where to go, where to change even more. And as for Your son, I pray for healing and a complete identity restoration within his mind. I lift both Karen and her son to You God and I thank You. Thank You for having her call-in. Thank You for just the work You’re doing in her life, it’s just amazing, in all of our lives. I pray for all of our lives, lift all of our lives up into Your hands, that Your will will be done in each and every one of us because we know Your will is the best and most perfect way to go. Sometimes we think, yeah, this is the right way, but I believe in Proverbs it says, “the way of a man seems right, but it ends in and leads to death. That’s so true. In so many cases in my life it’s been the case. And I pray that we can have Your wisdom and be guided by Your Spirt. You know exactly what actions to take and where no to go. Thank you. Good morning, good evening, good afternoon Daily Audio Bible family. This is Andrea DeLane from Kentucky and I just wanted to share and encouragement with you today. Obviously, we’re going through and we’re hearing about the crucifixion of Jesus and His resurrection and it’s so humbling to me. It’s just like, so humbling when we really stop and meditate and think on all that Yeshua has done for us, that He’s torn down the walls of separation between us and the Father and He has, so that we can be restored to Him. And, so, this morning also in my own personal time reading the word of God, I was reading and looking up Scriptures on humility and that brought me to first Peter 5, where he’s talking about, “humble yourself, and under the mighty hand of Elohim so that He will exalt you in due time casting all your worry upon Him for He is concerned about you.” And I just had to stop there because to take that all in, that He is so concerned about us, that He loves us so much. And I just want to remind you that to cast your cares upon Him for He truly, truly cares about you. And sometimes we want to feel it, but the fact is that He’s laid Himself on a cross, stretched His arms out and said I love you. And that, is enough to know that He cares, but He is so much more bigger and broader to just come down to each of us individually and show us His love. And I pray today that you experience His love. So, I agree with you for your prayer request and I love you. Have a good day.

Hello Daily Audio Bible family, this is Michael from Mesa. It’s been a little bit since I called in. Let’s see. Basic things. Amber from California, I think, I listen on my commute so my memory is really not so great on it but I think that’s right. Going through just marriage things. I have my own Amber, and we’ve been through so so many things over our 25, 27+ years of marriage. I, you know, I’m with you there, girl. So, just to let you know I’m praying for you. Brian, trip to Israel. I’m praying for you and the team and everybody that’s going. Praying for safe travels, technology working well, and just a wonderful and blessed time. In terms of myself, I know, I would guess that, as large as this family is, there’s someone still pray for me for clients. There’s things starting to build but I have nothing solid yet. And my work hours toward the billable stuff I’m supposed to be doing is all really low right now. So, prayers that the Lord would bring some of the efforts to fruit and that I would actually have some clients. My big project, working on the __ that I’m working on is going well but it’s coming to a close to. So, I’ve gotta get the client work in. Anyway, if you all know pray for me that’d be great. Today is the 17^th day of February. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It’s great to be here with you today. This will be the last time I’m doing this from the United States for a minute. We’ll leave later and begin our journey across the ocean into the Mediterranean where we will land in Tel Aviv and start preparing for our pilgrimage to the land of the Bible. So, I’m thanking you in advance for your prayers up front as we leave today, but it’s a brand-new week, it’s shiny and sparkly, we’re stepping into it together. We’re kind of freshly in books both in the Old Testament and the New Testament, we just got ourselves going in Leviticus and have also just got ourselves going in the gospel of Mark. And this week we will read from the Christian Standard Bible. Today, Leviticus chapter 4, chapters 4 and 5.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word, we thank You for what You are speaking to us through Your word, we thank You that Your word is a constant in our lives, it’s part of the rhythm of every day and it shapes us in profound and profoundly important ways. And we thank You and we invite Your Holy Spirit to plant the word of God that we’ve read today in our lives as we move into this new week. And Father, we acknowledge that this is a busy week around the Daily Audio Bible community because, well, because we’ll be traveling and because we will be bringing the land of the Bible to as many as we can reach as we travel around it. And, so, Father, I pray over this pilgrimage, whether it be a personal pilgrimage that some of our brothers and sisters are going on personally or whether this be a virtual pilgrimage where we just simply stay connected to the story of the Scripture and the story of the geography of the land. Come Holy Spirit. The whole point of all of this effort and all of this travel is to make Your word come alive. This is what You’ve called us to as a community, to make Your word come alive. And, so, help us Holy Spirit as we make this journey, this pilgrimage. We love You, we trust You, we pray these things in Your mighty name. Amen.

Shannon from Texas, your call really prompted me today. That attitude of…I’m gonna agree with you. What do we believe? We are the children of the most-high God. And you said…you know…I want to call and pray for my son, my son Nishua, Nish is his nickname. He has a long trippy name. And Yesuah is his middle name and I’m gonna…I want to pray for him. He’s out in the world somewhere and still and, you know, he doesn’t use a phone and I don’t know if he’s homeless or not. I don’t really…not too sure what he’s up to but I get so worried about him and I see him, and all these being destroyed and all this stuff and it’s just…it’s ridiculous. My son is a child of the most-high God and he is perfect in every…he is perfect in the kingdom today and every day. Shannon from Texas that’s what you said, and I agree with you. Hello, my brothers and sisters, this is Randy from rocket city, grace and peace unto you. I heard the prayer of the grandmother of Xander and I just wanted to let you know that I have prayed for you and I will pray for you and I wanted to share something that God has put on my heart with regards to worry. My wife, Wendy, which I also ask everyone to pray for is…she goes through a lot of pain and a lot of health issues and I pretend to worry about it a lot through my day while I’m at work and it occurred to me that my worrying isn’t doing her any good. So, now I use that time when I am tempted to worry to convert it to prayer. So, now it’s my signal pray for Wendy. So, when she comes up in my mind throughout the day I pray for her and that’s what I commend to you my brothers and sisters, that worry doesn’t do anything but it does something as far as reminding you that only God is our help. And, so, again, I pray for you my sister and I pray for Xander in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Good morning family this is Lynn from Florida and I’m calling to speak to Jane from New York. Jane, first of all, I apologize. It took me too long to call you, but you have been in my thoughts and my prayers and on my heart since I heard your request. You moved to New York, you’re sitting at your table and I picture you in your discouragement with your son and feeling like you’re not hearing from God, but I want to say something to you that I feel like was put on my heart to tell you, to remind you, and this is for everybody out there. I want to remind us all that we are children of the King. We are priceless possessions to Him and we have to remember that. In this world where we get defeated every day, we forget that we have a kingdom that were going to. And God wants us individually so much that we need to take hold of that and if we were children of an earthly king we would not be in despair, we would remember that, we would be walking in our royal robe. So, we have something better, we have our spiritual King. And Jane, I know what you mean when you say that you haven’t had a Holy Spirit experience. I can say the same thing; however, when I feel that despair and when I feel sad and lonely and neglected I do remember that I am God’s girl, I am His beloved and that gives me the courage to move forward and to step out into His grace. And just be reminded Jane that He loves you so much. Well, I love you all. I hope that helps. And thank you for all your prayers and as you know we all pray for you. I pray for you. Have a great day. Hello, my Daily Audio Bible family, this is Michele with one L from Central Florida. I’m calling because Pelham you’ve been on my heart a lot lately and I actually meant to call Saturday, which I believe was 9^th February, today is the 13^th of February. And Pelham, I want you to do this, okay? Stop what you’re doing unless you’re driving. Put your right hand straight out in front of you, your arm straight. Put it on your left shoulder. Now take your left hand, put it out straight so that your arm is straight. Put it on your right shoulder and squeeze. That’s a hug from me and it’s the closest I can get but I just wanted you to know that when you talked about having about having a Jesus with arms, that’s my hug to you. And I wanted to let you know brother I’m praying for you. And Tim from Michigan and Prodigal, I am reaching out to you by faith and praying that God’s going to meet all your needs. I heard recently that isolation and loneliness causes premature death even more than obesity. So, I just am praying that you’re going to get into a circle of believers that can actually give you in person hugs. And just know that I and many of your family members are praying for you, lifting you up and speaking encouragement to you. Pelham, you know, whatever situation we’re in, we’re to be content, right? Amen brother. And I know that Jehovah Jira is gonna meet your needs. Sometimes it’s not what we want and it’s not the needs we think we have but praying that God will bring you abundance, protection, and provision as His covenant promises. Leviticus 1:1-3:17, Mark 1:29-2:12, Psalms 35:17-28, Proverbs 9:13-18

Today is the 16^th day of February. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian and it is a pleasure and an honor to be here with you at the close of another week. And yeah, as we begin next week, tomorrow we’re going to be beginning our pilgrimage to the land of the Bible and we’ll talk about that a little bit more at the end, but here we are the beginning. And yesterday we finished the book of Exodus, which brings us to a new book in the Old Testament that were beginning today.

Introduction to the book of Leviticus:

Leviticus is the third book of the Pentateuch or Torah and it’s written to the children of Israel and we’re in the middle of the desert at this point, right? So, we followed the children of Israel out of Egypt and slavery and into the wilderness and we’ve been kind of camped out at Mount Sinai, out in the middle of the desert for a bit and that’s where…that’s where we are at this point in the story. God is establishing the terms of the covenant between himself and the people that He set apart and chosen to be holy. And it’s been about a year since they’ve been out of Egypt and now the law is being given. And as we pay close attention we’ll sort of see a sub theme emerge out of the laws and statutes. Everything that they are commanded to do and obey and observe all has a spiritual underpinning. Everything that they do is to remind them of their spiritual reality and their holiness before God and their covenantal relationship with God. And holiness is a huge, huge thing to God. In fact, God tells them, “I am holy therefore, you will be holy”. And, of course, holy means set apart to God. So, God is saying, “if we’re gonna be in a relationship, right, if we’re gonna be communing together and enjoying each other’s company and fellowship with each other than this is gonna only happen through holiness.” So, you know, Leviticus, we get to this point in the year and this is when a lot of the New Year’s resolutions start wearing off. And we’re just a couple days post Valentine’s Day and that is usually the point where the community for the year is established, those who are gonna make it have decided to do it and it usually kind of corresponds to how well you’re doing with your other New Year’s resolutions, right? Some people are like, “I’m not reading Leviticus and I’m not eating any more boiled chicken and salad.” And that’s fine. I mean, we get to choose…we get to choose our lives, but what I’ve found over the years is that a lot of those people, a lot of that, if that’s you, if you’re like, “okay I just can't…like I just gotta get off this train”, pretty good chance that one year from today you may be right where you are right now. So, I’m telling all of us, we can do this, we can take this journey, we just have to understand the territory that we are moving through as we move through the Bible. Yeah, not all of it is like sit at the edge of your seat riveting page turner stuff. Some of it’s like we’re reading laws and laws aren’t the kind of literature that’s meant to be narrative or edge of your seat, but all of our societies would fall apart without our law books. And, so, we’re going to move through the law and understand its context so that when we come out the other side of the law and begin to move toward the Promise Land ee understand the lay of the land. And, so as we move through Leviticus and we talk about sacrifices and stuff like that we’ll find a lot of blood in this book because there’s a lot of sacrifice in it. And if we approach the Old Testament, a work that was inspired thousands of years ago from the perspective of the culture that we live in right now, right, back reading our culture into an ancient culture, then yeah, it’ll seem somewhat barbaric and certainly antiquated and perhaps even irrelevant, but it certainly wasn’t then. And what it all represents is certainly not all relevant now. It’s as relevant now as ever. And we may wonder why they would just start sacrificing animals and why would God want animal sacrifice. And to find that out how we’ve gotta go back to the beginning. It’s been six weeks. We read the account of the garden of Eden. We read of Adam and needs fall. And from that moment all of mankind was separated from God and worthy of destruction spiritually and physically. And remember that story when God came to the garden in the cool of the evening looking for Adam and Eve. They were hiding, and they eventually told God that they were afraid because they were naked. How God responds to that is telling. He covers them with the skins of animals. So, it was God who set this precedent of atonement and covering. It costs something to cover man and woman. It cost the life of an animal. And now we live in a culture after Jesus, where this idea of an atoning sacrifice isn’t something that we think about that much other than to just know that Jesus was a sacrifice once and for all. Okay, well, that sacrifice once and for all, we just…just read of that story in the Gospel of Matthew. It was barbaric, it was ugly, it was bloody, it was sad, and the more that we fall in the Jesus the more that we see Jesus at work in our lives, the more we realize that this didn’t happen to somebody we don’t know, this happened to our closest friend, but His sacrifice was once and for all. All that we needed, He took it all, blameless, willingly and we no longer need any other atonement. That’s the reality that we currently live in but the children of Israel back in the book as we start Leviticus, they don’t have that luxury. God is showing the children of Israel that to cover their sin comes at a great cost and requires the shedding of blood. It is a constant living cultural reminder for them that sin leads to death and we’ll see God sewing this into the fabric of the culture that He’s establishing, we’ll see the burnt offering, the grain offering, the peace offering, the sin offering, the trespass offering and how they’re to be given. And we’ll see the way things are to be consecrated and the consecration of priests and priest’s families and we’ll learn what’s considered clean and what’s considered unclean in the culture and we’ll discover the different festivals and feasts that have to be observed and the blessings and cursings, all against the backdrop of the utter holiness and sovereignty of God. And so, let’s embrace this journey as we move forward into and through the book of Leviticus. We’re reading from the Contemporary English Version this week and today we’ll read Leviticus chapters 1 through 3.

Prayer:

We thank You Father for another week in Your word, we thank You for all that You’ve spoken and it’s like every week You speak volumes into our lives, every week You touch soft tender places inside of us, either to correct us or to comfort and heal us, every day Your word has something for us and we are so deeply grateful. And, so, as we and this week You’ve brought us into new books in both the old and new Testaments for us to camp out in and enjoy as we move through the remainder of this month. And Father as we prepare to go back and experience the places where so many of these stories occurred in Israel in the land of the Bible we certainly pray Your protection, Your health, Your stamina, Your wisdom over all of it. Come Holy Spirit we pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

And I mention we’re going back to the land of the Bible, that is upon us. I will be flying out on the big plane tomorrow and I it’s a long way, it’s a long flight. It’s not my favorite thing to do but I guess it beats walking, especially since I’d have to walk across the ocean, but jet lag can be difficult and logistics can be challenging. I mean there’s a lot of moving parts when, you know, you have buses of people who are all from all over the world and it has always been such a beautiful dance to see it all come together, but it has never happened without the intercession and prayer of God’s people in this community. And, so, wouldn’t dare get on that plane and go back over there again without knowing that there was a canopy of prayer being raised over that. And, so, I ask for your prayers, prayers of safety and travel, prayers for on time delivery of all of our guests who will be arriving on all kinds of different flights, prayer over stamina and health, and jet lag and logistics and all of these things as we prepare to pilgrimage around the land of the Bible. Now, yeah, this is gonna happen for a bunch of people in person but it’s always a community experience, it’s something that we do together, whether virtually or in person. And, so, we’ll be posting pictures and videos several times a day on our social media channels. Just as things happen we’ll be posting them up. So, be sure to stay connected that way so that you can kinda look in, not only to get a glimpse of what’s happening in the Daily Audio Bible community, who’s actually going to be in Israel, but also looking into sites that you’ve heard of, like names that you’ve heard of in the Bible, places that we’ve been to in the Bible. Those places are real places and they can come alive and we do everything that we possibly can to make that happen. And we’ll also be doing a live broadcast. We always do this once we reach the sea of Galilee. And we all get together and kind of debrief each other and invite the community in to ask questions and spend about an hour just together as a community virtually even though were spanning across time zones and even international datelines. Hey Daily Audio Bible family, this is Darrell, this is my second time calling, Darrell Georgia and absolutely love this. I drive a truck at night and this is absolutely a perfect way to get my food, get my daily soaking in God’s word. And Brian I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you and appreciate your passion for God. I am so on board with that passion. There’s no one like our great God. There is nobody like our Jesus and the presence of the Holy Spirit is sustenance for our lives, which brings me to my point. I think your name was T, I think that’s what you said, T, you’re young man and you called in and you’ve been listening since Thanksgiving of last year and you’re struggling with sensing the presence of God or you said the peace of God, you’re battling that. My encouragement to you is dwell on what the word of God says. Believe what the Bible says and what the Bible says is that God’s promises, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” So, the presence of God is there. He is there by your side, never doubt that. My encouragement to you, I believe, what I have experienced for myself is, if I’m feeling maybe empty or feeling like I’m not sensing His presence, I just talk to Him and I worship Him. I tell Him everything that He is to me, I tell Him how amazing He is, and I thank Him for all the little details in my life and that causes me to sense His presence. I hope that’s encouraging to you. This is a Lynn Song. I just started Daily Audio Bible this year. It’s very hard to call, I feel very vulnerable, but I need prayer for my husband. I wrote what I would say because I was afraid I would go blank. So, my husband has battled depression for years. He’s a musician and feels like a failure because his music has not taken him where he hoped it would. He is very gifted and talented, has made 20+ CDs. He writes things, composes, produces, plays multiple instruments but living in the Midwest makes it difficult. He struggles socially as well so it is challenging for him to market himself. Long story short, I prayed for him for years to for God’s will for him including that he would accept these circumstances if that is what God wants. I want us both to accept God’s will for our lives and I want him to be happy. I need help lifting my husband up in prayer and feel like I am Moses in need of assistance to hold my hands in the air until the battle is won. He came home tonight very depressed and discouraged. So, thank you. And I can’t stress enough, married 21 years and how long we’ve struggled with this. I don’t know if my time will run out, but I wanted to say I’ve been feeling __ hearing how many men are involved in DAB. So, calling for prayer and calling to pray for others. For some reason it’s given me hope for the body of Christ. So, I thank you for praying. I am praying for you all. Thank you so much.

Hi everybody it’s Margo from Australia and I’m now in Uganda. This is actually a bit of a test call to see what the lines like and whether it’s very clear and not working out which number to use. But I just wanted to let you know that I’m going quite well. Still have moments of being homesick but that’s __ and in between I have lots of joyful moments. I wanted to say thank you very much for everyone that’s praying for me. I did start writing down the names so I could thank everyone but I didn’t want to use up all my time just saying a list of names. So, if you’ve prayed for me, thank you so, so much. I did specifically though want to mention Treasured Possession. That word from the Lord, ahhh look, I cried. That was beautiful and encouraging and I’m so __. So, I’ve got a bit of a cold but other than that I’m doing well. I’m down…Uganda is an amazing place. There’s a couple of people who I did want to say that I’m praying for. Carl from Canada, you called, the quadriplegic __ it sounds like you’re having an awful time. I’m praying. Teresa in Texas with the alopecia, I really feel for you sister and I’m praying for you. And Karen from Pennsylvania, it sounds as though you’re having a very rough time and I’m praying for everyone and these couple of things are things that really made me…really touched my heart. I had a moment the other day where I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. I was standing in the supermarket and I just couldn’t work out where everything was and what to buy and everything was so different, and I didn’t understand the money. And I got so overwhelmed I cried out to Jesus in my heart. I had this beautiful image of Him standing beside me with His arm around my saying, “it’s okay Margo, we’ve got this” and I nearly cried right there. It was beautiful. And I wanted to share that because that is what your prayers are doing, allowing me to feel his peace. Okay. Love you all heaps. Bye.

Hey DAB family this is Byron out in Florida. I need you guys to pray for my son, Caleb who’s 12 years old. We’ve discovered that he’s picked up some fairly disturbing habits concerning his sexuality and we’re really concerned and worried about him. God is good because he felt bad enough about these things to confess them to us but still there’s a lot of work to be done for him to understand why these things are wrong and what he needs to do to walk the right path. We put a really tight rein on what our kids watch, what they read, and who they hang out with, but somewhere and there there’s a leak in the system for him to be doing some of the things that we’ve heard about. And he hasn’t really come forward with us about where he might’ve gotten some of these ideas from and that’s a concern. But I just need the warriors to come out and pray because the devil’s trying to take my boy. He knows the Lord, loves Him, and he’s just trying to separate him from his family and separate him from his God and separate him from himself and I can’t stand for that and I need my family pray. A lot of other stuff going on too but just if you could focus your prayers on that I’d really appreciate it. Love you all. Bye.

Exodus 39:1-40:38, Mark 1:1-28, Psalms 35:1-16, Proverbs 9:11-12

Today is the 15^th day of February. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian, it is wonderful to be here with you today. Hope you had a nice Valentine’s Day yesterday. We concluded the book of Matthew. So, the first gospel, the first book of the New Testament yesterday. So, when we get to the New Testament today we’ll be beginning the book of Mark and we’ll talk about that. And today we will be concluding the second book of the Old Testament, the book of Exodus and we’ll move on from there tomorrow. So, we’re reading from the Contemporary English Version this week and we’ll conclude the book of Exodus with chapters 39 and 40 today.

Introduction to the book of Mark:

Okay. So, that concluded the book of Exodus and like we said a minute ago, we finished the book of Matthew yesterday, which brings us to the gospel of Mark. And, so, we should know right off the bat that Mark was not a disciple of Jesus, he wasn’t one of the 12 and he wasn’t an apostle. Actually he was more of a long-term disciple of Peter and we first see him show up in the book of Acts. We also know him as John Mark and he lived in Jerusalem and came from a fairly wealthy family. His mother’s name was Mary and she had a big house and she had a servant named Rhoda. I mean we learn all of this from the book of Acts. She was an early believer and opened her home to other early believers and our church tradition tells us that her home may have been the place of the upper room where the Holy Spirit was poured out on the early believers after Jesus ascension. Obviously, that’s not explicit in the Bible, it’s tradition but totally plausible. So, Mark was around all this all his life, like even as a boy and would’ve been part of the first generation of children that were raised up to know Jesus was. So, we’ll get to the story soon enough, once we finish the Gospels a little bit more towards the summertime, but the apostle Peter was captured by Herod and was gonna be executed by Herod because Herod had put some other Christians to death and this was pleasing the religious leaders and so on and so forth and so he planned to execute Peter but an angel came and sprung Peter from jail. And, so, it was to John Mark’s house, right, to Mary’s large home that that Peter went first. And all the believers there were praying for Peter earnestly, that God would deliver him, and God answered that prayer by sending an angel to lead Peter out of jail. And, so, Peter comes to John Mark’s house and Rhoda the servant girl comes to answer the door and she sees him, and she slams the door in his face, basically because she can’t believe it’s Peter. And, so, we’ll get to that story soon enough but that gives a little bit about who Mark is. And Mark had a cousin and his name is Barnabas and Barnabas was a dear friend of the apostle Paul. So, Mark actually goes with Barnabas and Paul on Paul’s first missionary journey. So, this there’s a pedigree here and church tradition tells us that he went all over the place as an interpreter even for the apostle Peter in Italy and even in Rome and everywhere that they go Peter shares the gospel of Jesus Christ. So, Mark has heard the story told by Peter over and over and over everywhere that they go as Peter is doing his evangelistic work and then Mark remembers all of this and recalls it and maybe even at some point was asked to write it down so people could remember all of Peter’s story and eventually does. And, so, in a lot of ways we can consider Mark to be somewhat the gospel according to Peter. And, I mean, nearly all biblical scholars agree that the gospel of Mark was the first gospel written and definitely the earliest gospel found in the New Testament. And it’s from the gospel of Mark that Matthew and Luke draw a lot of their material and that is why Matthew, Mark, and Luke are known as the synoptic Gospels because they share a lot of the same material. Although Mark’s gospel is the earliest most rudimentary of the Gospels. And even Greek scholars look at the gospel of Mark which was written in Greek and would say like, you know, it’s like an elementary school level language, it’s written really roughly, like its not written beautifully, as nice prose, it’s actually clunky, which actually kind of makes it beautiful because it’s like what were about to do is read the first written account of Jesus life and ministry. So, let’s settle into that and just let it speak to us, let it wash into our lives. Ans, so, we begin. Mark chapter 1 verses 1 through 28.

Prayer:

Father, we thank you for your word and we heed the voice of wisdom today. “If you follow me”, She tells us, “we’ll live a long time.” And if we have good sense that’s good for us but if you don’t and we fall into arrogance then we’re just hurting ourselves. So, Holy Spirit, plant that in our lives. We learned yesterday from the book of Proverbs that we begin by honoring you Lord, this is the beginning of wisdom, but not the end. It’s just the beginning when we honor you. We’ve taken the first step toward being wise, toward living a wise life; however, if we will follow your Holy Spirit’s guidance in our lives and we continue to honor you and continue to listen to the voice of wisdom and obey then we’re going to be the ones to benefit. Help us to do that Lord because so often we listen to the counsel of the scoffer or the mocker and we’re anywhere but next to wisdom. But we want to string together a series of days and weeks and months where every day we are honoring you and every day we are listening to the voice of wisdom. And if we can string these days together, then it won’t be too long before we realize that we are living within wisdom, we are living wise lives, and we are becoming wise. We need this. As we just stand here and look back over the seasons of our live it is so starkly apparent which seasons we didn’t practice wisdom at all and which seasons did. Now we want the rest of our lives to be one long continuous season of wisdom where we continue to grow not only in wisdom but in awareness and vigilance so that we are wise, so that we have grown up, so that we become a mature son or daughter of the king. Help us Holy Spirit, come lead us in the way of wisdom we pray. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.

Today is the 14^th day of February. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian and happy Valentine’s Day for all you lovers in the world. So, here we are, center of the second month of the year. We’re working our way through the book of Exodus. We’ll actually complete the book of Exodus tomorrow and we will conclude the first gospel in the New Testament, the book of Matthew today. So, we’re reading from the Contemporary English Version this week. Exodus chapter 37 and 38.

Prayer:

Father, we thank you for your word. We thank you for bringing us to the conclusion of the first gospel and the story of your resurrection, the story of all stories. We thank you for rescuing our hearts. We thank you for redeeming our souls. We thank you for aligning us to your will and your ways and inviting us near so we can come into your presence with boldness as children. That is almost unfathomably good news. And, so, we thank you Father for your word that instructs us in these things and reveals to us the narrow path that leads to life and we invite your Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth. And on this day that we commemorate love in the world, we love you, we love you with all of our hearts, we love you above all others. And through that love and that intimacy and that union we can love those around us because we are loving them with your love. Come Holy Spirit and help us to spread love throughout the earth today we pray. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.

Jill: Thank you, babe. I probably should’ve got you something better than I did after that. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone. Happy Valentine’s Day to you, those of you who are in waiting and in hopes of a Valentine someday. So, this is where I usually talk to the men, to the husbands. So, if that’s you, ladies you are excused from the moment. Go get your nails done, go get a cup of coffee, go get a cupcake. If you are not married, Fathers I would also ask you to lend your ear this way and maybe women who are still on the fence thinking about coming to More. I don’t know what I could say to you that hasn’t already been said as far as what you might experience at More. I truly believe as women most of us if not all of us live with a secret desire, the secret longing, hope, secret cry or prayer or desperation that there has to be something more than this. I am supposed to be something or someone more than who I am. I feel as women we live under an umbrella, a secret umbrella of shame that we need to be doing more than what we are and we need to be doing more better than what we are doing. Now, this might not be all women. I meet a lot of women on the road, I meet with a lot of women throughout the week and this is what I’m hearing. I see your tears, I hear you apologize for your tears, I hear you say I don’t even know why I’m crying or where these came from. That tells me you are living alone with thoughts and there are few safe places to let those thoughts, those feelings, those emotions go. So, husbands, fathers, significant others, if you have heard your wife, your daughter, your sister, if you’ve heard any of these women voice any of these emotions, any of these thoughts, then she should be at More. We have created a very safe place to validate a woman’s emotions, a woman’s longing, a woman’s fears, a woman’s lies that are trapped inside their mind, but we’re not stopping at validation, we are exploring this together. I have a team of women who are willing to be vulnerable to talk about their pain, their shame, their hurt. So, we’re going to validate the secret that most women live with, we’re going to explore it together, we’re going to dig deep. This is not your fluffy women’s conference. We’re gonna dig deep, we’re gonna get healed and set free from some things and we are going to teach women who they are and let them lose to be all that God created them to be. So, this is me imploring you men, husbands, grandfathers, brothers, if you have a woman that needs to be there, if you have a woman who is lost, who is overwhelmed, who does not know who she is or where she’s going, who feels like she is spiraling out of control, please send her to More and give her one of the greatest gifts you could ever give. Now, women I’m gonna talk to you again because this might be the last time I get to talk about More before the gathering. So, we’re still a couple of months away. Some of you are still on the fence, some of you are really afraid ,some of you hate women’s gatherings. I get it. I do too. I did too. That’s why it’s so funny that God has had me create a whole conference for women. I hated them too, but it was actually at a women’s conference, Captivating in Colorado with the ministry of Ransomed Heart with John and Stacy Eldridge where God completely healed me and showed me who I am in Him. So, this was our starting point, our starting point was Captivating to reiterate the message of captivating. It has slowly morphed and was birthed into something more. Ironic don’t you think? No, that’s just Jesus. This is what He does. So, ladies, you’ve he decided to get there. You’re gonna sign up, you’re gonna bite the bullet, you’re gonna do this thing, you’re going for it, let me tell you some things that you absolutely will have to hear and trust me in this process but hold onto these words. You will have to fight the fear to there. Once you say yes every possible thing that could be used against you that would hinder you from getting there will happen. You will think that you’re going to be alone and isolation will prevent you. You might snore and so you’ll say, “I don’t want to be in a room full of women.” Guess what, you will be with fellow snorers. You already feel alone, you’re worried about going alone and remaining alone. Guess what? That is not true. You will leave with some of the deepest friendships, relationships, that you have ever had and it might be women clear across the country but we have this beautiful thing called the Internet that keeps us connected. You’re going to say that you have a special diet. Fantastic. A lot of women do. We have an incredible chef who will meet every dietary need possible. Maybe you’re older, you can’t walk well, but you would really like to come. Guess what? We can accommodate you as well. We have ways to meet every need possible, but you will have to fight through to say yes. And what I am most excited about this year is two things that God has highlighted for us. One is we are continuing to move forward for the deaf community. God has provided two American Sign Language interpreters, two ASL interpreters for More 2019. Here’s the thing. God has equipped us with two ASL interpreters and our greatest form and tool of marketing is an audible podcast. So, we will need your help. If you have a deaf friend or sister, could you help us spread the word and let them know. This is undoubtedly something that God is doing and I know this because it’s beyond my realm of anything. I think I know two words in what Ezekiel calls “silent language”, is that not precious? So, but this is a dream that one of my team members had, “we’ve got to take this to the deaf community.” God has provided a way for that. We would love it if you could help us spread the word. The second thing is, this is not a conference we typically say, “yes mothers and daughters come together.” Here’s why, there’s some really personal work that women have to do here. It is so difficult sometimes to do work that we need to do when we feel like we need to nurture another woman. And, so, it’s really difficult for a mom to come out of the role of a mom to first be a daughter. However, we have had such an unprecedented amount of mothers and daughters register together this year that we just had to stop telling women that we advise against it and we’re rolling with it. Because of the amount of women signing up together we felt like this is directly what Jesus is inviting us into this year because sometimes we put these boundaries in, these healthy parameters up, you know, “oh no, we need to protect the women” and then times like this He just…He just makes it known that the boundaries are being blown into shreds. And, so, we are we are acknowledging the amount of mothers and daughters coming together, we are welcoming you. So, what I want to say to you all the way now, two and half months out from conference, from More, is that if you are a mother coming with your daughter I need you to get into the place and the mindset that you are coming first and foremost as a daughter. We are not all mothers coming but we are all daughters. And, so, we’ve got to stay in the mindset that first and foremost, we are a daughter first before we are anything and we are daughter of the most-high King. We are a daughter to that woman that carried us in her womb for nine months. And I think if you can remember that in this context and we’ll remind you at the conference, all throughout the weekend, but if you can come in first as a daughter I think you you’re gonna have a completely different experience. Daughters, if you’re coming with your mother or you’re considering coming with your mother, I’m gonna ask you to get into the headspace and the heart, please be mindful that she is coming first as a daughter and that will make more sense at the conference, but even right now you need…if you could consider that then maybe even some of you that are on the fence about whether you can come do this thing together, maybe that will compel you forward. So, the invitation has been given, the invitation is extended, the invitation is in my hand, my hand is reached out, and I would be absolutely thrilled if you just accepted the invite and placed that invitation in your hand and say, “yes”. This is not a numbers game for us. This is not…this is not an ego stroke of we've…we've…we’ve gotten the best number that we ever have this year. We pray for a number every year and that number already has been exceeded. And truly what I wish everyone to know is this is the work of my heart, of my life, that I feel like everything I have been through in life has come down to this moment. I have told the Lord time after time after time again that I say yes, I give my life to showing women who they are in You and watching them be set free, watching them live the life that God intended for them to live. Nothing brings me greater joy. Nothing gives me more sense of fulfillment and purpose and I will not stop until every woman that is within my capability, my sphere of earshot, knows who they are in Jesus, because when I…I firmly believe when we know who we are, when we know whose we are it does not matter what He’s asked of us. We say yes, and we go in full abandon towards Him and what He has for us and that will set the world on fire, that will change the world we live in.
