The Daily Audio Bible Reading for Monday February 18, 2019 (NIV)

6 The Lord spoke to Moses: ² “When someone sins and offends the Lord by deceiving^(A) his neighbor in regard to a deposit,^(B) a security,^[a] or a robbery;^(C) or defrauds^(D) his neighbor; ³ or finds something lost and lies about it;^(E) or swears falsely^(F) about any of the sinful things a person may do— ⁴ once he has sinned^(G) and acknowledged his guilt^(H)—he must return what he stole or defrauded, or the deposit entrusted to him, or the lost item he found, ⁵ or anything else about which he swore falsely. He will make full restitution for it and add a fifth of its value to it.^(I) He is to pay it to its owner on the day he acknowledges his guilt.^{(J) 6} Then he is to bring his guilt offering^(K) to the Lord: an unblemished^(L) ram from the flock according to your assessment of its value as a guilt offering to the priest. ⁷ In this way the priest will make atonement on his behalf before the Lord, and he will be forgiven for anything he may have done to incur guilt.”^(M)

The Burnt Offering

⁸ The Lord spoke to Moses: ⁹ “Command Aaron and his sons: This is the law of the burnt offering; the burnt offering itself must remain on the altar’s hearth all night until morning, while the fire of the altar is kept burning on it. ¹⁰ The priest is to put on his linen robe and linen undergarments.^[b](N) He is to remove the ashes of the burnt offering the fire has consumed on the altar, and place them beside the altar. ¹¹ Then he will take off his garments, put on other clothes,^(O) and bring the ashes outside the camp to a ceremonially clean place. ¹² The fire on the altar is to be kept burning; it must not go out. Every morning the priest will burn wood on the fire. He is to arrange the burnt offering on the fire and burn the fat portions from the fellowship offerings^(P) on it. ¹³ Fire must be kept burning on the altar continually; it must not go out.

The Grain Offering

¹⁴ “Now this is the law of the grain offering:^(Q) Aaron’s sons will present it before the Lord in front of the altar. ¹⁵ The priest is to remove a handful of fine flour and olive oil from the grain offering, with all the frankincense that is on the offering, and burn its memorial portion on the altar as a pleasing aroma to the Lord. ¹⁶ Aaron and his sons may eat the rest of it.^(R) It is to be eaten in the form of unleavened bread^(S) in a holy place;^(T) they are to eat it in the courtyard^(U) of the tent of meeting. ¹⁷ It must not be baked with yeast; I have assigned it as their portion^(V) from my fire offerings.^(W) It is especially holy, like the sin offering^(X) and the guilt offering. ¹⁸ Any male among Aaron’s descendants^(Y) may eat it. It is a permanent portion^[c](Z) throughout your generations from the fire offerings to the Lord. Anything that touches the offerings will become holy.”^(AA)

¹⁹ The Lord spoke to Moses: ²⁰ “This is the offering that Aaron and his sons are to present to the Lord on the day that he is anointed: two quarts^[d] of fine flour as a regular grain offering, half of it in the morning and half in the evening. ²¹ It is to be prepared with oil on a griddle; you are to bring it well-kneaded. You are to present it as a grain offering of baked pieces,^[e] a pleasing aroma to the Lord. ²² The priest, who is one of Aaron’s sons and will be anointed to take his place, is to prepare it. It must be completely burned as a permanent portion for the Lord. ²³ Every grain offering for a priest will be a whole burnt offering;^(AB) it is not to be eaten.”

The Sin Offering

²⁴ The Lord spoke to Moses: ²⁵ “Tell Aaron and his sons: This is the law of the sin offering.^(AC) The sin offering is most holy and must be slaughtered before the Lord at the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered. ²⁶ The priest who offers it as a sin offering will eat it. It is to be eaten in a holy place,^(AD) in the courtyard of the tent of meeting. ²⁷ Anything that touches its flesh will become holy, and if any of its blood spatters on a garment, then you must wash that garment^[f] in a holy place. ²⁸ A clay pot in which the sin offering is boiled is to be broken; if it is boiled in a bronze vessel, it is to be scoured and rinsed with water. ²⁹ Any male among the priests may eat it; it is especially holy. ³⁰ But no sin offering may be eaten if its blood has been brought into the tent of meeting to make atonement in the holy place; it must be burned.

The Guilt Offering

7 “Now this is the law of the guilt^[g] offering;^(AE) it is especially holy. ² The guilt offering is to be slaughtered at the place where the burnt offering^(AF) is slaughtered, and the priest is to splatter its blood on all sides of the altar. ³ The offerer is to present all the fat from it: the fat tail,^(AG) the fat surrounding the entrails,^{[h] 4} and the two kidneys with the fat on them at the loins; he will also remove the fatty lobe of the liver^(AH) with the kidneys. ⁵ The priest will burn them on the altar as a fire offering^(AI) to the Lord; it is a guilt offering. ⁶ Any male among the priests may eat it.^(AJ) It is to be eaten in a holy place;^(AK) it is especially holy.^(AL)

⁷ “The guilt offering is like the sin offering;^(AM) the law is the same for both. It belongs to the priest^(AN) who makes atonement^(AO) with it. ⁸ As for the priest who presents someone’s burnt offering, the hide of the burnt offering he has presented belongs to him; it is the priest’s. ⁹ Any grain offering^(AP) that is baked in an oven or prepared in a pan or on a griddle belongs to the priest who presents it; it is his. ¹⁰ But any grain offering, whether dry or mixed with oil, belongs equally to all of Aaron’s sons.

The Fellowship Sacrifice

¹¹ “Now this is the law of the fellowship sacrifice^(AQ) that someone may present to the Lord: ¹² If he presents it for thanksgiving, in addition to the thanksgiving sacrifice,^(AR) he is to present unleavened cakes^(AS) mixed with olive oil, unleavened wafers^(AT) coated with oil, and well-kneaded cakes of fine flour mixed with oil. ¹³ He is to present as his offering cakes of leavened bread with his thanksgiving sacrifice of fellowship. ¹⁴ From the cakes he is to present one portion of each offering as a contribution^(AU) to the Lord. It will belong to the priest who splatters the blood of the fellowship offering; it is his. ¹⁵ The meat of his thanksgiving sacrifice of fellowship must be eaten on the day he offers it;^(AV) he may not leave any of it until morning.^(AW)

¹⁶ “If the sacrifice he offers is a vow^(AX) or a freewill offering,^(AY) it is to be eaten on the day he presents his sacrifice, and what is left over may be eaten on the next day. ¹⁷ But what remains of the sacrificial meat by the third day must be burned.^{(AZ) 18} If any of the meat of his fellowship sacrifice is eaten on the third day, it will not be accepted.^(BA) It will not be credited to the one who presents it; it is repulsive.^(BB) The person who eats any of it will bear his iniquity.^[i]

¹⁹ “Meat that touches anything unclean must not be eaten; it is to be burned. Everyone who is clean may eat any other meat. ²⁰ But the one who eats meat from the Lord’s fellowship sacrifice while he is unclean, that person must be cut off from his people.^{(BC) 21} If someone touches anything unclean, whether human uncleanness, an unclean animal, or any unclean, abhorrent^[j](BD) creature, and eats meat from the Lord’s fellowship sacrifice, that person is to be cut off from his people.”

Fat and Blood Prohibited

²² The Lord spoke to Moses: ²³ “Tell the Israelites: You are not to eat any fat^(BE) of an ox, a sheep, or a goat. ²⁴ The fat of an animal that dies naturally or is mauled by wild beasts^[k](BF) may be used for any other purpose, but you must not eat it.^{(BG) 25} If anyone eats animal fat from a fire offering presented to the Lord, the person who eats it is to be cut off from his people. ²⁶ Wherever you live, you must not eat the blood^(BH) of any bird or animal. ²⁷ Whoever eats any blood is to be cut off from his people.”

Ministering to the Multitude

⁷ Jesus^(A) departed with his disciples to the sea, and a large crowd followed from Galilee,^(B) and a large crowd followed from Judea,^{(C) 8} Jerusalem,^(D) Idumea, beyond the Jordan,^(E) and around Tyre^(F) and Sidon.^(G) The large crowd came to him because they heard about everything he was doing. ⁹ Then he told his disciples to have a small boat^(H) ready for him, so that the crowd wouldn’t crush him. ¹⁰ Since he had healed^(I) many, all who had diseases were pressing toward him to touch^(J) him. ¹¹ Whenever the unclean^(K) spirits^(L) saw him, they fell down^(M) before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God!” ^{(N) 12} And he would strongly warn^(O) them not to make him known.^(P)

The Twelve Apostles

¹³ Jesus^(Q) went up the mountain^(R) and summoned those he wanted, and they came to him. ¹⁴ He appointed twelve, whom he also named apostles,^[a](S) to be with him, to send them out to preach,^{(T) 15} and to have authority to^[b] drive out demons. ¹⁶ He appointed the Twelve:^[c](U) To Simon,^(V) he gave the name Peter;^{(W) 17} and to James^(X) the son of Zebedee,^(Y) and to his brother John,^(Z) he gave the name “Boanerges” (that is, “Sons of Thunder”^(AA)); ¹⁸ Andrew;^(AB) Philip^(AC) and Bartholomew; Matthew^(AD) and Thomas;^(AE) James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot, ¹⁹ and Judas Iscariot,^(AF) who also betrayed him.

A House Divided

²⁰ Jesus entered a house, and the crowd gathered again so that they were not even able to eat.^{[d] 21} When his family^(AG) heard this, they set out to restrain him, because they said, “He’s out of his mind.”^(AH)

²² The scribes^(AI) who had come down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,”^(AJ) and, “He drives out^(AK) demons^(AL) by the ruler^(AM) of the demons.”^(AN)

²³ So he summoned^(AO) them and spoke to them in parables:^(AP) “How can Satan^(AQ) drive out Satan?^{(AR) 24} If a kingdom^(AS) is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. ²⁵ If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. ²⁶ And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand but is finished. ²⁷ But no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his possessions unless he first ties up^(AT) the strong man. Then he can plunder his house.

²⁸ “Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven for all sins and whatever blasphemies^(AU) they utter. ²⁹ But whoever blasphemes^(AV) against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness,^(AW) but is guilty^(AX) of an eternal sin”^[e](AY)— ³⁰ because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”^(AZ)
