Jeremiah 4:19-6:15, Colossians 1:18-2:7, Psalms 77:1-20, Proverbs 24:23-25

Today is the 5th day of October, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it is wonderful to be here with you today just like it is wonderful to be here with you every day. We’re fortunate. We’re fortunate to have the Global Campfire. We’re fortunate to have this place to come to each and every day. And, so, I’m grateful. And let’s dive in. We are in the book of Jeremiah, kinda just getting moved into that. We are also in the book of…the book, but the letter to the Colossians, which we just began yesterday. So, we’re just getting into that so it’s kind of new territory for us. We’re reading from the Common English Bible this week. Jeremiah chapter 4 verse 19 through 6 verse 15 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, there are days when we come to our reading from the Psalms that what we read is so raw, so honest, and we find that as a bit of a trademark in the Psalms. And we find that actually in music, right? We can find certainly pretentious music, sometimes that heart cry, or that person singing about heartbreak or some other thing that has happened and it just comes through because of the music, the feeling the emotion of the words is exponentially amped up, more on display. And, so, when we find music, a song, a lyric from the Psalms in the Bible saying what we feel, then we identify with it. And we may be…we may take a step back and go, “why is that in the Bible? The Bible’s supposed to be full of encouragement, all positivity.” But actually, the Bible is something that’s there to reach our hearts and to lead us to God. And honesty is a place to start. And, so, we see that in the 77th psalm today that Asaph wrote. And he cries out in this Psalm with like…like a barrage of questions…maybe not a barrage…six questions in particular, but one after the other after the other. And if we pay attention to those questions, we find…we find ourselves in different seasons in our…in our lives having asked the same things. So, Asaph asks, “will my Lord reject me forever. Will He never be pleased again? Has His faithful love come to a complete end? Is His promise over for future generations? Has God forgotten how to be gracious? Has He angrily stopped up His compassion?” Those are some intensely honest questions. And maybe we haven’t used these exact words, but we’ve had these sentiments, we’ve had these thoughts, they’ve been in our hearts. Many of them we’ve spoken aloud and typically this is happening when we are not happy about something, right, when we have a crisis to deal with or we have to endure something or we’re suffering in some way. We usually don’t ask where has His…His compassion gone if everything is awesome and were having a great day. It’s usually when we’re in a season of challenge that these kinds of things begin to bubble up out of our heart. And it’s not like they weren’t there. They just emerge. They reveal themselves and all the sudden we check in with our own hearts and see that we’re not doing all that great. And at this point in the Psalm Asaph isn’t doing that great. So, he asks these six questions that we just asked or read ourselves. His response after those six questions is, “it’s my misfortune I thought that the strong hand of the most-high is different now.” That is so honest. That…that…that rings true. This is how he is actually experiencing life at the moment. And it…it’s so ancient. These words are thousands of years old and so relevant. And, so, we can see again, permission to be honest, it’s just what do we do once we reach that place…point…point that we stuffed things down inside enough till they kind of emerge, whether they blow up or they just seep out. What’s going on in our heart is going to seep out into our lives. So, what we do with it. Well…the first thing is to be honest about it. We’re seeing this modeled in the Bible, to be honest about it, but there are still choices to be made, because we can get really honest about how were feeling and we can cry tears and weep and plead and yell and spin around in circles and jump up and down and do whatever we need to do to release some of the energy, but we can get stuck there as if nothing will ever change and we can…we can turn toward bitterness and that will only make it worse. That will only lead us into further depths. It's…it’s as if Asaph caught himself and then gives another path. And, so, Asaph says, “I will remember the Lord’s deeds. Yes, I will remember your wondrous acts from times long past. I will meditate on all your works. I will ponder your deeds. God, your way is holiness. Who is as great a God as you, God? You are the God who works wonders. You have demonstrated your strength among all peoples.” So I don’t know that Asaph was a journal-er, but what he’s saying is he will remember what God has done and let that inform how he’s feeling now. And, so, often when we have kind of journaled our way through a year or through the Bible we’ll always have that so that when we can’t remember we have an epistle to ourselves, a letter to ourselves, essentially, that reminds us so that we might remember God’s faithfulness toward us, that yes, how we feel, what we’re enduring, what we’re facing, that’s real, it’s formidable, maybe it’s terrifying, maybe scary, maybe it brings anxiety. It’s life. It can be anything. The problem isn’t being honest about it, right, so that we fake, like it’s not happening, which is so really prevalent in our faith culture. It's…it’s not the honesty that’s an issue. It’s what we do with it. If we use our honesty to dig a pit that we might wallow in it, we can certainly do that and we’ll stay in the pit, we’ll be in the pit until we get out of the pit. What Asaph is modeling is recognizing through honesty that you are at a precipice in making a choice to remember, we’ve been this way before, suffered things before, endured things before, and scared before. God is faithful, and I will remember that. And, so, let’s take that into our day. I mean, that right there, I know…I know lots of you are going through stuff and need that today. And, so, thank God, I totally understand. And, so, let’s carry it today, that honesty is necessary and important, but it’s not the end. It’s the beginning. Let’s be honest, and then let’s remember that God is and has always been faithful.

Prayer:

Father, and we acknowledge that. You are always faithful. We have no examples of a time where You double-crossed anybody. You have always been true. You’ve always according to the Scriptures had a desire to be in fellowship to draw us to Yourself. We see this on every page of the Bible, Your relentless unwillingness to surrender us and Your continual willingness to pursue our hearts over the course of thousands of years and that hasn’t changed. You are faithful and we remember. And come Holy Spirit and bring to mind throughout the course of this day all kinds of time maybe we’ve forgotten that You’ve been faithful and have rescued us. This encourages us. This gives us confidence. This develops our faith. And, so come, we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Commentary:

dailyaudiobible.com is home base, it’s the website, it’s where you find out what’s going on around here. And as I say often you can find out what’s going on around here using the Daily Audio Bible app as well by pushing the Drawer icon in the upper left-hand corner.

And actually, let’s take a second to talk about that because a number of you, thousands of you have had some problems over the last several days, especially…specifically accessing the Daily Audio Bible through the app or through web. And I could probably sit here and talk for several hours…and I mean…probably hours just about what it’s like in the technology world and developing etc. etc. and the way in which it is a nonstop, constant…constant move forward. Just like we do at the Daily Audio Bible, a step forward together every day. But some of the stuff that’s happened in the last couple of days that have been frustrating have been frustrating to us too because it’s been beyond our control. Essentially, there…not to get too far in the weeds, but there’s a way that security is done on the Internet and encrypting things so that data can’t be intercepted or passed along, and we don’t have any of that kind of data at the Daily Audio Bible but we follow those protocols. And a major Internet security certificate issuer let their own certificate expire, which ended up affecting hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people, including stores that, you know, couldn’t do transactions, not just Internet stores, but store stores and the Daily Audio Bible was affected as well. So, we’ve done what we do whenever an issue like this arises or when we see something more widespread. We get together and start dissecting the problem and identifying and figuring out the solution. Sometimes a problem requires a long-term solution. And, so, we have to look long term and short term, but this is the nature of it. And, so, we have been working pretty feverishly to not be relying on those specific certificates or rather, getting them in our own control. And that will make us responsible for them, but it’ll also give us control over them so that if they expire it’s our fault. And, so, that is what we are in the process of doing and this should all straighten itself out. This particular issue, almost across the board has affected people who are android users who have an android type device and we were in contact and we were given the same information everybody else is being given, to be sure to advise anyone using an android device to make sure that their operating system is the most current because apparently there are some fixes for issues like this in the most current iteration of…of android. So, I’m passing that information along. And I’ll just say like even yesterday, places that are…places that have billions of users, like places way, way, way beyond the Daily Audio Bible like Facebook or Instagram, they were out yesterday or messenger our WhatsApp. They were out yesterday. Totally different issues, but issues. And they have an army of developers. So, just know, it can get crazy out there. And we are, in a way, aloof. Every…well…there’s a team that works on this every day at Daily Audio Bible. And also know that we have developed two different players. One is the Daily Audio Bible app, of course, but we also have an online player that you can access from the Daily Audio Bible website, at dailyaudiobible.com. We’ve built those two things separately so that we have at least inside of our community here a little bit of redundancy. So, know that if you are ever having an issue with the app just got to player.dailyaudiobible.com and you’ll have a player that is connected to the system and works the same as the app. And a widespread issue like the one we experienced over the weekend and into yesterday, that kinda stuff affects everything. It was affecting hundreds of thousands of people but we work really, really diligently to serve the community here and we always will. And we’re working on some…some longer-term projects that will invariably be incorporated over the next year to stabilize and help us serve even better. And, so, if you experience difficulties, pray for us. Pray for us. It’s so much more effective than hate mail. Pray for us as we pray for you every day. We’re in this together. Also know that we’re experiencing an uptick right now. And, so, I live in the central time zone here in the rolling hills of Tennessee. So, like 5AM to 11AM is when we’re geetin’ hammered. That’s when so many people are accessing the system. Beautiful. Love it. We’re increasing resources in that direction. But if you’re experience sluggishness, just wait. It’s that so many people are trying to access the same content that you are. So, be patient for like even a minute, which is…I know that’s pretty hard to do on the internet. We expect super high-speed super quick response. Boom boom boom I push the button and the thing happens. But sometimes when you have…when you push the button you are sending a message out that says to the server, I’m requesting this bit of information then the server computes and collects the information that you want and sends it back. And when a lot of people are asking for the same things at the same times then it cues up. So, just be patient for just a minute. Typically, everything can…can sort itself out. But anyway, I don’t want to get into the weeds here. Just pray for us as we pray for you as we continue to take the next step forward together because it is the deepest passion to bring the spoken word fresh every single day and brought to you excellently. When that has to happen seven days a week without fail invariably, sooner or later there are challenges. The team that works on all of this technology are also a part of who we are and listen to the Daily Audio Bible every day as well. So, pray for us. We’re in this together.

And, of course, as always if you have a prayer request or you have an encouragement you can hit the Hotline button in the app, which is the little red button up at the top or you can dial…you see the redundancy here…you can dial 877-942-4253.

And that is it for today. I’m Brian. I love you and I’ll be waiting for you here tomorrow.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Good morning my name is Z and I’d like to thank everyone in the DAB community for supporting each other. This is a beautiful beautiful forum. And the purpose of my call is to ask for prayer for myself as I undergo some challenges and uneasiness at work at present. I’m feeling unfulfilled, unappreciated and have been in my position for four years. It's…it pays the bills and I have a wonderful team of people under me, but my issue is leadership. I feel that it could be better and it’s frustrating at present to the point where I feel like I…I want to leave. I’m just hoping to find wisdom to make the right decision. I hope to…to get a sign from God as to what I should do in this situation. I can’t continue to be frustrated day in and day out in that environment in which I spend most of my…my day. So, I pray brothers and sisters, I ask for your prayer that I find the wisdom to make the right decision and get through this. Thank you.

Daily Audio Bible this…this prayer is for Alicia from Colorado who used to live in Montana. Alicia is blind and she just is recovering from COVID and she doesn’t have her sense of taste or smell back and she’s going through lots of fear and unsteadiness and…and lots of crying in depression and so understandable especially if you’re blind and…and…and, you know, and possibly alone. Father we lift up Alicia to you right now in the name of Jesus. We pray that you give her a hope and a faith that surpasses all this fear because opposite of fear…opposite of faith is fear. And Alicia the scripture says hope deferred makeith the heart sick but long and fulfilled is the tree of life. We pray that you will have this hope that you will get your…your taste back and the smell of food back so that you can eat and get your body strong again. Alicia, I…I know from just being here in Florida and the people that I know they still it takes months sometimes it takes up to 6 to 12 months to get…to get your taste and smell back. But we know God honor’s prayer and God is healing you and we claim that right now in the name of Jesus, that you will get it back quickly. So, we claim that right now. DABbers please agree with me in Jesus’ name for Alicia and we lift her up to you in Jesus’ name we pray that you give her the peace that’s surpasses all understanding and…and a vast amount of faith and we come against depression and we pray that you fill her up with your joy and your peace in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Hi this is Just as I am Sam in Northern California my first-time calling in. I started listening to Daily Audio Bible in 2019 and I’m totally hooked. I love how Brian just can make sense out of the Bible and put it in such understandable terms. So, thank you so much for that. And I would like to ask for prayer for myself. I’m having an MRI tomorrow. That’s on Friday. And I have chronic pain in my spine and back and I’m just praying that Jesus will light it up and…and show the doctors what’s going on. I’ve struggled with this pain for over 15 years, and we would like to get help and answers. So, I’d appreciate your prayers. And I’m praying for all of you as well. And it’s been a wonderful group and help in times of loneliness and I love you all. Thank you. God bless you.

I just…my heart breaks just knowing that they’ve gone through such horrible situation. I know that You can rectify this. I know that she can bring them back and make them whole, so they don’t spend their lives worrying about this all the time. Lord and I also I want to ask for prayer for my family. I have a daughter who’s stepped away from me for reasons I never understand, and I need to have her back again. I also have a grandson who is not doing well, and he has stepped away from the family. Jeremiah 2:31-4:18, Colossians 1:1-17, Psalm 76:1-12, Proverbs 24:21-22

Today is October 4th, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible, I am Brian, it is great to be here with you today, it’s great to be with you every day. But today is today and it’s great to be here with you today. As we come around the Global Campfire and let it all go, whatever that thing is that snagging at us that are those things, these pressures, these obligations and responsibilities. These fears, these uncertainties, we are allowed to carry them around as much as we want. That’s not necessarily a healthy thing to do and we are also given permission to not carry them around. But let’s at least give ourselves permission to not carry them around right now, like we’re around the Global Campfire now, we’re safe right now. And, what’s gonna happen now is we’re just going to read the Scriptures and let them wash into our lives and so often something that we need is there and so often when we leave this place, the things that we have to pick up and carry, they don’t have the same weight. Things shift and so let’s just let it all go as we move forward in our journey and take the next step forward. Which leads us back into the book of Jeremiah, which we just began yesterday. So, we’re just getting going in Jeremiah. When we get to the New Testament, we have new territory there as well. But first Jeremiah chapter 2, verse 31 through 4, verse 18.

Introduction to the Book of Colossians:

Okay, so we concluded the letter. Paul’s letter to the Philippians yesterday. Which brings us to the 12th book in the New Testament, which is another letter from the apostle Paul, this one to the Colossians and the Colossians were people who lived in the city of Colossae which was not a place unfamiliar to Paul. It’s about 100 miles from where he spent a lot of his time in Ephesus and Colossae is, I don’t know that it’s an archaeological ruins or site, at this point it’s been identified, but not really excavated. It sits in modern-day Turkey. But during Paul’s life, Colossae wasn’t an archaeological ruin at all. It was a bustling city and it had everything that you can imagine that bustling city in the Roman Empire would have, a lot of mingling of culture, a lot of mingling of philosophical ideas, a lot of mingling of spirituality and some of this mingling had made its way into the Colossian church. And so, Paul writes this letter as a response and similar to Ephesians and Philippians, Colossians is generally considered to be a prison epistle, so another letter that Paul wrote while he was awaiting trial before the emperor and the letter generally has two sections, to two themes. The first is a doctrinal issue. There had been people coming into the church and we’ve seen this before. This is a little different though, people would come into the church, they were fellowshipping in the church, but also teaching things like Angel worship, and some just other rituals that were not part of what Paul was teaching. And so, Paul addresses this in this letter by showing us once again this high, high Christology, this awareness that Christ is supreme over all creation, over all angelic beings, over everything. He writes in his letter that the universe, the very universe is created by and through Jesus and is…is sustained through the Lordship of Christ. And then Paul also addresses something we’ve seen before this, circumcised versus uncircumcised controversy that was dominant in the early church. We’ve seen it in other letters where people come in and I like no you got obey the Jewish customs, you’ve got to essentially become Jewish, then follow the Jewish Messiah, follow those customs, which Paul was very, very much against. We’ve had lots of conversations about that, in Colossians Paul is still against that teaching and so we’ll once again hear him make corrections and once again we have a letter that was sent to actual people in an actual congregation giving us insight into what was happening in their congregation. And since we have a collection of letters from Paul, we see the themes, the commonalities, the different things that the early churches were facing and for that matter, their distinctions and the different cities. But we get a really good glimpse at the struggles that were going on among our brothers and sisters that are our spiritual ancestors. And as we read these letters, we find that maybe context changes a little. The cities definitely change, the regions definitely change but the things that we find ourselves wrestling with, in dealing with, within ourselves and with…with in our fellowships, within our communities of faith, we still have this kind of stuff going on and so these letters, Colossians being the one that were about to read, serve as opportunities to be corrected, to find a path again, to get our NorthStar back and walk in a direction that is profitable for the kingdom of God. And so, we begin Colossians chapter 1 verses 1 through 17 today.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for this new territory into this letter to the Colossians that we are entering into, we ask that You lead and guide our hearts and we might understand what we need to understand, plant the seeds of the Scriptures in our lives. And may they yield the fruit of the Spirit, that we may have a bountiful harvest not only for our own hearts, may it spill out into our marriages and our families, may it spill over into our faith communities, may it spill out into this world that we may be that city on a hill, that we may be a light in the darkness, that we may illuminate the narrow path that leads to life. Come, Holy Spirit into all of this we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Hi, Daily Audio Bible family, this is God’s Life Speaker. I am calling on behalf of my son, Joshua, who you all have prayed for, for years now. He’s 21 and at graduate school and he has been in a state if not well for quite a while and last night I was talking to him and it just broke out into prayer with him and we just need whatever is taking him down, fighting for his soul, to go, to be cast as far as the east is from the west. Family, please let’s stand together for these mental health issues these young people are having in the name of Jesus. We ask that Your mighty hand come over Joshua and anyone that is in need of being delivered from this spiritual realm that is of darkness and they feel they’re in a pit and cannot come above. But You’re there and we love You Lord and you’re allowing this to go through Your hands. In the name of Jesus, we ask that You would deliver these people, bring them up, may they long to love You. May they overcome these things, may they be refined and may they be magnifying Your name. I ask it in Your son’s precious name. Amen.

Good morning DABer family this is the Burning Bush That Will Not Be Devoured for the Glory of our God and our King. I am calling for our sister Alyssa from Montana. Sister, I am praying for you. I prayed for you when I heard your prayer request and for those that didn’t hear, she is legally blind. She had COVID recently and lost her senses of taste and smell, and that is definitely hitting her a hard. My sister, I want you to know that I prayed for you and I believe that the same God who raised the dead can restore your senses. And so, Father God, I pray Oh Lord, that you restore her senses and…and give her just divine healing of her body that she will be whole, Father. And God, I thank You Oh Lord, because you love Alyssa and I pray that you just guide her as she awaits Your miracle. Thank You God for miracle after miracle in the name of Jesus I pray, Amen. We love you, my sister. May God bless and keep you and cause His face to shine upon you and give you peace and giver you your sense of smell and give you your sense of taste. God Bless, bye.

Hello there, DAB family. I love this community. Thank you so much. This is my first time. I just wanted to reach out to my Aussie friend there, in Canada. But my Aussie friend there that just requested prayer for his, I believe it’s his brother or friend. I know about mental illness. My mother had schizophrenia so, it is very difficult to have a loved one with this illness and just pray protection over him, bring him home Lord Jesus. Bring him to his place of peace, Lord and just comfort him right now, in his grief Oh Lord. The grief, can sometimes overwhelm but you have given us peace, so bring him to that place. Lord Jesus, and I also want to pray for the mom that reached out from Wyoming. I pray for wisdom and strength for your daughter to make the right decision. That she will just know from your wisdom as a mother, that she would listen to you and open her heart to take Godly advice. I pray Father that she will make the right decision. I also would love prayer for my…my daughter in Australia and my son, who are now not talking to me. They’re just going through, they’re adult children, they’re going through hard time with this pandemic. Just please pray that God would touch their hearts and they would come back to Him. Bless you all. I love you all.

Hello Daily Audio Bible family. This is Becky in Orlando and I would like for all of our Daily Audio Bible prayer warriors to come and circle around our new sister in the Daily Audio Bible family. Her name is Myra, she’s from New Jersey and I just met her in one of our hotels. Myra has been dealing with some horrible things that have happened to her where she just got attacked while she was in New Jersey. And she’s dealing now with PTSD. And if we could just pray for Myra. Anyway, I’ll start us off, Dear God, if you could please send the Blessed Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to tend to Myra, to give her comfort that only Jesus can give to her, to mend her wounds, both psychologically and spiritually. And, we know that this can be done because You are just the most amazing God and I pray that she listens to the Daily Audio Bible everyday and that it brings her comfort. And I pray that anybody else that’s listening to this would be able to get just the word that Jesus knows and God’s knows, the Holy Spirit knows all the plans that we have that He has for our lives. Sometimes the picture, we can’t see the big picture but He has such big plans and we don’t understand what His plans are for us at the time. So, please allow God’s plans to you know to unfold in her life and I pray that she just keeps on listening. So, Myra, from New Jersey, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible family and God Bless you, my sister. Alright, thanks Daily Audio Bible prayer warriors around the world. Alright, bye.

Hello, this is Nelly. I just want to let you all know that I’m praying for you all. And it’s such an encouragement to be part of this Community. I just pray that you also pray for me as I’m struggling with very dark and depressing thoughts. It’s been such a struggle. I haven’t been able to sleep. I’m just asking for prayer, thank you. I love you all.

Jeremiah 1:1-2:30, Philippians 4:1-23, Psalms 75:1-10, Proverbs 24:17-20

Today is October 3rd welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it’s great to be here with you today as we greet a shiny sparkly new week. And this is the first time we get to do this in the month of October, the first time we’re moving into a full week in this month. And we have other new beginnings. We’re beginning a brand-new book today. We concluded the book of Isaiah yesterday, which brings us to the book of Jeremiah.

Introduction to the book of Jeremiah:

And we’ll find Jeremiah to be very intriguing. It’s one of the major prophets. So, we’ll kind of camp out for a while as we move through it, but we’ll see that it has a different complexion than Isaiah. It’s written by a different person. And part of what’s compelling about Jeremiah is Jeremiah. He was a prophet. He was devoted to God, but he didn’t like everything he was instructed to do, and he felt alone and unheard, and that nobody was listening. And there were definitely times that he was frustrated and wanted to just kinda check out, just be released and not have to speak to people who aren’t listening, to just wash his hands of it. And he wasn’t like delusional or needy or whatever. It was true. Nobody was listening. Israel did turn her back on God. And, so, for a couple of decades Jeremiah is this lone voice, warning of where they’re going and that it’s not where they want to end up. And for these warnings he got into a lot of conflict and arguments and was imprisoned because it didn’t look like what he was saying was true. Things were going really well for the people. It was a prosperous time. And, so, Jeremiah with this message is just a disruptive message that brings doom and gloom in a prosperous time and that isn’t good for business. And, so, Jeremiah just finds himself kind of in conflict. Most of the time. And as we will discover, what Jeremiah warned about for a couple of decades eventually came to fruition. The Babylonian Empire invaded, and they conquered Jerusalem in 587. And at this time…this is…Solomon’s Temple is in Jerusalem and the Babylonians wipe it out, destroy it completely. And, so, let’s dive in. We’ll read from the Common English Bible this week. Jeremiah chapter 1 verse 1 through 2 verse 30 today.

Prayer:

Father, we thank you for your word. We thank you for this new territory that we are entering into today into the book of Jeremiah. We look forward to the new territory that we will enter into tomorrow as we move forward in the New Testament. We thank you for this brand-new week, this first full week of the 10th month of the year of the final quarter of the year. We thank you for your faithfulness. We thank you for instructing and guiding us through your word every day. We thank you for your patience with us and your compassion toward us. And we invite you into everything that we do and say this week, all of the thoughts and intentions of our hearts. We invite your Holy Spirit, and we invite our spirits to be aware of your Holy Spirit that is always present to us, that we might walk in fellowship and friendship, but that we also submit ourselves to your authority and guidance. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi this is Victoria Soldier just calling to pray for some of the DABbers and I just wanted to let everyone know something that…that happened to me today. My precious brother died, the one who had COVID and just continue to pray for him. He was staring and…and everything for…for quite a few days and he finally closed his dies today about 6:00 o'clock. I just thank God that he…he’s in his destination and knowing that. I want to pray for Sharon. Also, I want to pray for my brother who had said that he had lost everything. I wanted to pray for him and let him know that…that God has…has some of the plans that he…he needs to consult God on what is his next move because God says…David said I’m young and I’m old, but I’ve never seen the righteous forsaken or seen begging for bread. I’m going to ask God to open up doors for him and him to begin to see. And Tara from Texas, I want to also pray for…for Maggie. I want to pray for those who are…Treasured Possession. I want to pray for those who…those who are going through, those who lost their precious son, my sister who lost her precious father. And I’m going to pray for Lisa who is supposed to be having surgery and…and it was good to hear Drew from the Bay Area and my sweetheart of a friend Blind Tony. It’s always so good to hear from you Tony and…and all the people of God and God’s Smile, all of my precious, precious sisters and brothers. And congratulations Jill and Brian on being a grandmother in grandfather again. Gracious father I just lift you up. What a wonderful day. Today is such a wonderful day because you made this day, and you have everything that every one of our DABbers need. You have life and favor. You have healing, you have hope…

Hi, thank you Daily Audio Bible for being so wonderful. I’m so happy to listen to the Bible and listen to the people praying in God’s name, in Jesus’ name. I wanted to give a message for God’s Daisy, God’s Crown of Daisy. It really touched my heart when I heard you speaking about wanting to reconnect with your dad and how much you have been touched by the Daily Audio Bible by the Bible by the people praying and how only in one year you've…not even…you found energy and resilience to come back towards your father and your mother-in-law…oh…I mean your stepmom. God bless you and I will keep you in my prayers that everything will go smoothly during your meeting, that the Holy Spirit will take possession of your heart and your mouth so that you know what to say and not say and to just say a prayer that the whole space that you guys are in in their house or wherever you meet that it be filled up with God’s holy power and His love and His peace and to really touch them both whether they believe or not in Christ. I want to say also that it…it brought some tears to my eyes, joyful tears because I’ve been struggling with my relationship with my sister for over a year now. And she has decided to not talk to me or my mom or my dad. They are very, very sad. I’ve been praying for her every single day, and I felt if it was God’s wink when I…

Good morning beautiful sons and daughters of our one true Father. My…I’ve been given the name of God’s Glory. Although it’s hard to receive I still claim it here every day. But this is my first year listening through the DAB, this is my first time calling but I’m calling __ morning just to respond to Jonathan in Denver. Brother man you’ve been in my thoughts, hearts, and prayers since the first time I heard you called several months ago. So, it’s good to hear your voice and just let me tell you like how encouraging that first call was because the amount of strength and courage that it took to make the call. Here I am making my first call. So…so, thank you again for being here. And I know all too well what it’s like to be the prodigal son that ran away. But let me tell you brother this Father is waiting for you looking searching and he runs out to meet you. God…ah…thank you. Brother, we lift you up in your struggles God and just be with…be with him. And…and let me tell you brother I join in the feast that God is preparing for you as you return home. I know there’s not much time but Val in Vegas you bring me so much joy. Thank you, sister. I’m praying the peace of Christ over you. Just know that there is healing in the scars, and I know it’s hard but your loved, you are beautiful. And just stay strong. So, thank you.

Hey this is Linda from Southwest Florida and calling in because I just heard Jonathan from Denver for the second time since I started listening to the daily audio Bible back in springtime, I can’t remember exactly when. But Jonathan from Denver you broke my heart. You’re a young man with an addiction that you’re very ashamed of and I’ve…I’ve been praying for you. You’re on my physical written prayer list in my little home office and when I heard your voice today, I just was awestruck. And I want you to know that I’ve been praying for you. And I wish there was a way that we could speak to one another. I’m an old woman. I could probably be your grandmother. I could be your grandmother. You’re young. But I understand your addiction and I hear the agony in your voice, and it breaks my heart. The fact that you’re a young man and you’re seeking in the right area brings me joy. So, it’s a big contrast between how it breaks my heart and how it brings me joy at the same time that you are seeking help, you are seeking to be right with God, and you will be right with God, and you will find peace. I can promise you that you’ll man. I love you. I love your heart. You will find the peace that you need. Don’t ever give up looking for it. In Jesus name. Amen.

Dear DAB family I want to continue to ask you to pray for my little boy. He’s not really little. He’s a big guy. He’s 45 years old but he has COVID. My sister-in-law has COVID, and I’ve got five kids 14 and under and I ask you to pray for him because he has bad respiratory issues, he has a bad heart, he has a lot of weight to lose, and Jesus loves him so much. And I was just thinking about the other day when we were talking about fasting and praying and everything and how, you know, we’re not supposed to brag about and everything. And I remember when my brother was a little baby and how my granddaddy because when my brother was born, he was born with a collapsed lung and so I remember my granddad praying for him and so it just brought back memories and brings back memories now. And anyways please…please keep my brother Lucas and his family in your prayers. And I thank you guys. I’m praying for you guys all the time. I keep little yellow tabs in my Bible to remember to pray for you guys all the time. And I love you guys. And I’m really thankful for you. And this is Heather from California by the way. Sorry I didn’t mention that. But anyways take care and thank you. Thanks for praying for Lucas and his family. God really loves him. He’s very special. He’s a real special guy. And we know that Jesus loves everybody and…and…and Lucas is one of those that just been around the block. But anyways I better go because I’m running out of time. Thank you. Thank you. We love you guys. Bye.

Isaiah 66:1-24, Philippians 3:4-21, Psalm 74:1-23, Proverbs 24:15-16

Today is the 2nd day of October, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible, I’m Brian, it is wonderful to be here with you today as we continued to drag all of our stuff over from the last month and move in to this brand-new month that we have just begun. As we…as we navigate the final quarter of the year together. And today, we will conclude the book of Isaiah and we’ve been camped out in Isaiah for a while. It’s one of the longer books, we’ll conclude Isaiah today, we’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible Isaiah 66.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. I thank You for bringing us through this week and into this new month and even today, we thank You for bringing us through the book of Isaiah and we look forward to moving forward tomorrow into the book of Jeremiah and all that it has in store for us. So, we are grateful. Even though we think about all that’s out in front of us. We are grateful to be here now, worshiping You, glorifying Your name, inviting awareness of Your Holy Spirit, that we might glorify You in our bodies and every motivation and every word spoken and everything that we do. Holy Spirit, come and lead us, help us to pay attention, help us to obey. Help us to follow where You are leading. We ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Announcements:

dailyaudiobible.com is home base. It’s the website, it’s where the Global Campfire burns, it’s how you find out what’s going on around here, so check it out and stay connected in any way that you can. Check out the Daily Audio Bible Shop while you’re there. There are a number of categories in the Daily Audio Bible Shop and we’ve kinda divided everything up into different categories, but these are all resources that have been created over the years and they are for the Community here around the Global Campfire and they are to take our journey deeper and wider to connect us even more to the Scriptures and to the way that they teach us how to live our lives and so, I mean not every single one of them, but for example the Daily Audio Bible Journal. We’ve fashioned that over time, picking the exact right paper to write with and the right size to be able to carry it around and so you may be like well, journaling isn’t gonna take my journey deeper and that may or may not be true, but when you write your journey down well, in my experiences, upon reflection. For example, if you journey your way through the Bible in a year. A lot of things are gonna happen in a year, in life that the Bible can certainly speak to and inform and help us to not react to, but a lot of things happen in a year of life and to be able to sort of chronicle some of that and then may be, take a couple of days at the end of the year, may be that space between Christmas and New Year’s, where we’re thinking about how we’re going to live a better life and make some significant changes in the coming year and get really reflective to just kind of look back over the year that God has brought you through, and to be able to see the way that the Scripture spoke and the way that you’re still here able to read this that you got through. Yeah, that takes the journey deeper. So, there are all kinds of ways to go about that but it’s part of the mission here to…to make it the journey of a lifetime because that’s what it is. So, check out the Daily Audio Bible Shop, you can do that on the web well, just the Shop link on the website or if you’re using the app, you can press the little drawer icon in the upper left-hand corner and you’ll find the Shop in there. So, check the resources out there.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, that can be done at dailyaudiobible.com as well. There is a link on the homepage. And thank you, thank you so profoundly, we would not…we would not be here if we were not here together and it's…it’s just…it’s an awe-inspiring thing that we are in this together. So, there is a link on the homepage, if you’re using the app, you can press the Give button in the upper right-hand corner, or the mailing address is P.O. Box 1996 Springhill, Tennessee 37174.

And as always, if you have a prayer request or encouragement, you can hit the Hotline button in the app, that’s the little red button at the top or you can dial 877-942-4253.

And that’s it for today. I’m Brian. I love you and I’ll be waiting for you here tomorrow.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Good morning, it’s Eyes of a Dove here. If you guys are just waking up like I am and you’re getting ready to go to work join me in prayer this morning. Father God, good morning, thank You for waiting on the couch as we busy ourselves running back and forth with our clothing and brushing our teeth and getting our coffee and there You sit so eagerly waiting just to have a moment, thank You for loving us even when we make mistakes and we mess up and we do it on purpose knowing that we’re sinning. We do it with an intent of selfishness, pushing You aside and ignoring that we know that You’re there waiting for us, knowing that You’re always gonna be there waiting for us and taking our relationship with You for granted. Thank You for loving us through those things. We’re girded around like truth; we’re shot in the preparations of the gospel of peace. We put on the helmet of salvation which is Your mind, the mind of Christ. We put on the breastplate of righteousness, the sword of the Spirit, the shield of faith. Father, put a hedge of protection and a ring of fire around us Father, give us a legion of angels to protect us as we go, today. That no fiery dart that any coworker, any person shoots at our armor will penetrate our hearts and hurt us. But Father, that we would take that arrow and turn it around and make it love. Father, that they would be shocked by the love that we give. Maybe it’s the one that betrayed you at work that you hold bitterness towards. Maybe it’s time to go get them some coffee, just give them a surprise sandwich and tell them “I knew this was your favorite I just wanted to bless you today. I’m thankful to be your co-worker.” Help us to be like You Jesus, to be that example of You. I love You Lord. Amen.

Hello DAB family, this is Charlie from Houston. And I know my wife’s listening, Julie. Hi Julie. First, I’m a ten-year listener and first-time caller. I apologize for not calling before, I know I should have. It’s a pride not calling in as Brian has said we need others to help carry us through the hard times. Many times, over the past 10 years I’ve really needed that. So, before I get into my prayer request though I did want to just to say real quick how thankful I’ve been for so many people that have been so faithful over the years but particularly wanted to say thank you to Blind Tony and Victorious Soldier. You guys are amazing and just appreciate the love that you’ve shown this community over the years. I want to lift up my wife. She…we got some pretty difficult news last week. She’s had Lupus for many years and she’s got some…some things wrong with her heart and her lungs and some indications that there was some pretty severe, issues particularly with her heart. God has given us a verse, Judges 6:23 which says “peace, don’t be afraid you’re not going to die” but I also know we need to put the work in through prayer. And I know of no better group to do that then the DAB family, so I’m just asking you guys would pray for her, pray for the healing of her heart and of her lungs and I will keep you posted on the progress as we go along. Thanks.

Hey DAB family this is Byron out in Florida. I hope you all are doing well. We could use your prayers; my wife is back in the hospital. It seems she has some sort of internal infection and she’s gonna be there for a few days running a course of anti-biotics. But the Lord is still with us and I’ll tell you how I know. Rushing to get my kids to school and we’re running late and we’re gonna miss the bus. And that’s just gonna wreck the morning. And so, I’m sitting at the last red light and I’m like “Lord, I need a perfect two minutes, we’ve done everything that we can. I need you to carry us the rest of the way.” So, I drive and the trickiest part of getting to the bus stop is that you have to make a U-turn on a 6-lane road. And when I see the turn up there at the intersection there’s a semi-waiting to make to make the turn. I think, that’s it, we’re not gonna make it. And at the last moment I see the semi-about to inch up and I think maybe I can do this and sure enough the semi’s turning so slow that it blocks all three lanes of oncoming traffic and I get through that U-turn as quickly as if there were no cars there, even though there were a dozen. And we get there at the very last minute. And it was like the climax of the movie, I was like yes, yes did you see that, did you see what He did, He blocked the whole road. It was so awesome and I just praise Him for it. My wife is tired, she’s been sick for the better part of the decade and now we’re back to the hospital yet again. And she’s tired and we’re tired and I just need you guys to pray that God is gonna take us the rest of the way cause we don’t have much left that we can do. We know He’s there with us and we know that He will listen to your prayers. So, please keep us in your hearts. Love you guys.

Good morning my DAB family. It’s Joyful J in the Everglades. A voice you haven’t heard from in a while. I will say I do listen and I’m caught up on the daily postings, I am way far behind on the community prayers. But I just had to share. Sometimes Scripture not just steps on your toes but it will kick your behind. And today, in the reading in Proverbs, Proverbs 24:10 and I’m gonna…I don’t have it in front of me so I’m gonna butcher it a little but it said, if you do nothing in difficult times, your strength is a weakened. Oh, my goodness, in the last six months I find my job very difficult and I find myself wanting to run, wanting to quit. Throw up my hands, put my head in the sand. And that is not the way of Jesus Christ and of the Lord, God our savior. I love the Proverbs, very black and white and I need that and I needed that today. Thank you, Brian, thank you Jill, thank you all the behind-the-scenes people. I love you my DAB family. I love the prayers. I lift each and every one of you up when I hear those prayers and I'm…I am praying right now for the community in the community prayer the last one posted in July, so that’s how far behind I am but know, like a blanket, that never, that we’re never uncovered from, we are covered in prayer, no matter when we post. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Good morning, everybody it’s Susan from Canada, God’s Yellow Flower calling. And today I want to talk to Jonathan from Denver. Welcome back my son, welcome back. Kill the fattened calf, wear the ring and the robes of the son of God, you are back and we are rejoicing. And we will be praying for you Jonathan, continually to stand firm and to grow in the Lord every day and then you will be there for when we fall cause we all fall and we get up on the strength of the Lord and the help of fellow believers and we’re here for you. Just keep on going. Dear Lord Jesus, just be with Jonathan, pick him up, dust him off and walk with him through the miry clay. Dear Lord, help him not only to seek You but to forgive himself. As we all fall, we all sin and we all need Your grace. And I pray Lord God, that when I fall, he will be there to pick me up. In Jesus precious and Holy name, I pray. Amen.

Isaiah 62:6-65:25, Philippians 2:19-3:3, Psalms 73:1-28, Proverbs 24:13-14

Today is October 1st welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian and it’s great to be here with you today as we greet a brand-new month, the 10th month of the year, the 274th day of the year, which…well…this will be step number 274 of 365 that we take each year as we journey together through the Bible. And, so, it’s great to be here with you in this brand-new month. Let me congratulate you on completing three quarters of the year, three quarters of the Bible. We have 25% of the year left, one quarter of the year left, three months ago and we will have accomplished what we set out to do together, read every word of the Bible in community. And, so, we have this fresh start, and we will pick up where we left off as we come into this new month. We’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible this week. Isaiah chapter 62 verse 6 through 65 verse 25 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, we celebrated the fact that we’re moving into the final quarter of the year right at the beginning today, just a little while ago, but typically every time we come to the final quarter of a year, at least I’m reminding myself this is the last quarter of the year. And right now, things feel pretty normal like, pretty…pretty…the normal flow of the year that we’ve settled into but this final quarter of the year is usually different than other quarters in a year because things speed up as we get toward the end of the year because the holiday season comes. And, so, crazy as it might seem three months from now we’re gonna be starting a new year. And typically I don’t like to jump out in front because…I mean…it’s hard enough just to be here now, right? It just hard enough to be present in the life in the day in the hour that has been gifted to us by God and stay here and be present here. And, so, talk of “wow. In three months from now it’s going to be a new year” and you start thinking about that and we get out in front of ourselves. And I’m not trying to do that. I’m saying these things so that they don’t happen because it…it will sneak up on us and if we haven’t decided in advance that we’re finishing the journey and we’re finishing the journey strong and we’re going to receive everything that God has for us in the Scriptures then there’s all kinds of things that come to sidetrack us. And for the most part they’re beautiful things. We will be moving into the season of Advent and then celebrating the arrival of Jesus and Christmas and then think about New Year’s…all those things. They’re…they’re…they’re beautiful things, but they can distract us to the point that we get through all those holidays and we’re upside down and we don’t know what’s going on anymore, we’re confused. And, so, we’re in that in between week between Christmas and New Year’s trying to figure out what we’re gonna do with our lives. And, so, we have entered the last quarter of this particular year and we need to make decisions. And we do this all the time. Every time we greet a brand-new shiny sparkly new week, we realize it’s out in front of us and we get to choose how organa live this week. Well, this last quarter is out in front of us, and we get to choose how we’re gonna live it. And we haven’t come this far to do anything but finish strong. And, so, let’s commit to that.

And we can look at our Psalm today. It comes at a really good time speaking really good things because we…we often have these feelings. Asaph is writing this Psalm, and he’s just angry, he’s frustrated at what he sees in the world. And, so, can any of us relate to that. He’s just frustrated at it all. He looks around and it seems like those who are unrighteous are actually the ones who are prosperous, the ones who don’t seem to care at all, the trajectory where God might be leading humanity, they just…they’re not even paying attention, but they are the ones that look like they’re blessed, while those who are enduring and holding true to their faith and walking with God are facing all kinds of suffering. And, so, I quote Asaph as he confesses. “As for me, my feet almost slipped. My steps nearly went astray. For I envied the arrogant. I saw the prosperity of the wicked. They have an easy time until they die, and their bodies are well fed. They are not in trouble, like others. They are not afflicted, like most people. Therefore, pride is their necklace and violence cover’s them like a garment.”  So, he’s probably saying things that one point or another, we might have…we may have observed, we may have thought these things, we may have felt this. And, so, he reflects, and I quote again. “Did…did I purify my heart and wash my hands in innocence for nothing? For I am afflicted all day long and punished every morning. If I had decided to say these things aloud, I would’ve betrayed your people. When I try to understand all thi it seemed hopeless.” So, this is very, very ancient, this poem, this song, these lyrics, very ancient. And do they not sound familiar, do they not sound relevant and current? And, so, we could say, “well…the Bible is so alive that it speaks to what we’re going through right now.” And that is very true as we’ve experienced many many times. But it also shows us, things in the heart haven’t changed that much, things in the world haven’t changed that much. Certainly, technology and advancement and all…every conceivable way, has indeed…like the world looks like a different place than it did 3000 years ago. But what drives us and motivates us and comforts us and torments us, these kinds of things look awful similar. And thank God that the Bible gives language, that the Bible’s actually voicing this, that the Bible is actually giving voice to maybe things that we don’t say or we feel or think or are confused by. And we’re going into this quarter, and we will talk about this more than once as we go through this quarter because so…it become so dominant. But as we move toward the end of year and we move into the holidays, it’s joyous, it’s beautiful but it’s stressful. It tips us upside down. It swirls us in all kinds of directions, trying to figure how to pay for it all. We look at everybody else and then all the sudden comparison comes in, and…yeah very, very quickly we find ourselves saying the things that Asaph is saying and feeling the things that Asaph is feeling. And, so, let’s at least take a look at what Asaph does in response to his own words to his own feelings because it would be easy enough to throw your hands in the air, and we’ve probably all done this, throw your hands in the air and go, “I give up. Forget it. I can’t…I mean…just I can’t. It’s kill, or be killed in this world. And, so, I’m just gonna get out there and try to survive” and kinda move in directions that are contrary to our faith or journey toward wholeness or peace. And, so, we go and try to fill ourselves with whatever we feel is the void and…and…yeah…we just go in a big circle, end up right where we left off, a little older and a little more exhausted. And, so, that's…that’s not gonna work. We basically already know that. Asaph knows that. So, what does Asaph do? He decides that he’s got to go deeper into God’s presence. And, so, I quote. “When I tried to understand all this it seemed hopeless until I entered God’s sanctuary. Then I understood their destiny.” And skipping a couple verses. “When I became embittered and my innermost being was wounded, I was stupid and didn’t understand. I was an unthinking animal toward you. Yet I am always with you. You hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me up in glory. Who do I have in heaven but you? And I desire nothing on earth but you”, right? So, he’s like re-framing his priorities. Looking around and seeing what he doesn’t have isn’t gonna get him anywhere and realizing that all he needs and all that he wants is the presence of God to truly become aware that that is more than enough and leads to everything that we need and removes…well…I mean we can hold onto the anxiety and frustration and fear all that we want, but it removes the need for it. And if we can get this perspective both right now in the here and now, in the present and carry it with us as we move forward into this quarter we will serve ourselves well.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, we invite You into that. We become aware of Your presence that is always with us. We become aware that You are here with us in the present and You will be with us every step of the way. And, so, we ask that You help us to catch ourselves when we get into the comparison game, to help us when we look around and become frustrated at what others have that we don’t have and why the unrighteous seem to be more prosperous than we who are trying. May we look to You. It is Your presence that we seek where there is more than enough to continue the process of making us whole again. So, come Holy Spirit into all of this we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Announcements:

dailyaudiobible.com is home base, it’s the website, it’s where you find out what’s going on around here. And, of course, we are in the final quarter of the year, 75% of the year we have lived and each and every day we have engaged with the Scriptures to help lead and direct and guide us, which leaves 25% of the year left, and what a 25% it will be. We have so much ground to cover, such good ground to cover. And, so, that is, at least for me, that’s what’s going on around here. How did we get here? It seems like it went in a blur. Seems like it was just a few weeks ago, but in other ways it feels like…yeah…it’s been about three quarters of a year. But nevertheless, here we are. Time seems porous. Sometimes it’s hard to measure, but we are here in the final quarter of the year and that is going on. That’s one of the things that are going on around here.

But also check out things on the web or using the Daily Audio Bible app like the…the Prayer Wall. I…I mention it several times a week, usually if I’m thinking about it because it is a resource that is always available. And the bottom falls out of any given day, any time right? Or the bottom can fall out of a lot of things. And we can find ourselves trying to sort through how to navigate and a lot of times we’ll just suck it up and try to figure it out on our own, which sometimes we…we can be successful at that, sort it out, pray, move through, but other times we just dig the hole deeper because we are reacting and we’re so deeply entrenched in what we think or feel. But you just kinda it out there. “hey, I’m struggling right now with some things and I could use a brother or sister. I could use a hand in prayer.” And to know that you’re gonna get it…oh…that's…that’s a gift and a rescue at times. So, that is the Prayer Wall and that can be found in the community section of the website or if you’re using the…the app you can press that little Drawer icon in the upper left-hand corner, which opens up the drawer and the Community section is in there. And inside the Community section you’ll find the Prayer Wall. So, maybe today isn’t the day that you need that, but it's…it’s a good resource to know about because maybe tomorrow will be. We never know what a day’s gonna bring. What we do know is that the Lord will never abandon us and we are in this together and that makes a pretty big difference. So, check that out.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hello everyone, this is Laura from California. I love this DAB family. We share our burdens and trials and help each other get through and I really appreciate that. Cara called in on September 23rd for her friend who suddenly lost one of her twin sons 10 days earlier suddenly. And I…I just wanted to say that six years ago I lost one of my twin sons suddenly. And in the vast sea of people who cannot possibly fathom the grief and the loss I wanted Cara and her friend and family to know that there are people out here who…who can understand. You’re not alone and we’re praying for you, and you will get through, God will see you through. He…He pieced my heart back together. It took a long time, but he did. And my surviving son, he’s getting his feet under him after six years. He's…he’s now doing better. So, it takes time but I just pray that the peace that passes all understanding will guard your heart and…and that Cara, your friend, her family and all those that loved her son, they’re just filled with the Holy Spirit to the fullness of God. Love you family. Laura from California.

Dear Lord please give me the wisdom and knowledge to understand the Bible as I begin reading it today. Thank you. Amen.

Hey, my daily audio Bible family I’m…this is Suzanna and Texas. I’m calling for prayers for my son Titus. He’s a little over three months old right now. He’s just had a lot of digestive issues working through some…shortly after…not right after birth but a little after birth and I kinda had a hold on it but he’s kind of had __ issues popping up here in there right now. Eric, my husband is watching Titus all the days that I work in the NICU day and night for like 3 days in a row and it’s exhausting. And today he, Titus was just screaming crying all day long. And we will…we have seen our pediatrician multiple times and we’ve seen urgent care doctors most other times. And I’m just asking for you guys to please pray for a quick…that we find a solution as soon as possible and that Titus be healed if it’s the Lord’s will, just completely healed from having these digestive issues and this pain that he’s having. And we just thank you so much for your prayers for little Titus. We just love you and we pray for you as much as we can when we listen to all the prayer requests and we just are so thankful for this community. We love you. Bye-bye.

Good morning DAB family this is Virginia from Cleveland. I am a little bit behind in my listening. So, it’s September 28th but I just heard Val from Vegas’s call on the 15th and I was just…I was elated to hear your voice. And I just feel such a connection to you that I don’t know why. We started listening at the same time. I know that. And I just want to pray for you that you are healing from your mastectomy and that you’re not having any complications and that the Lord just wraps His arms around you in peace and healing and covers you with everyone’s love here, that you feel all of our prayers for you. And I also wanted to say that I was very touched that rather than pleading for prayers for yourself you were asking for health care workers. And while I don’t work at a hospital, I am one of those and it really really touched me and I wanted to thank God for you, that even in your own turmoil you’re thinking of others. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Hey DAB family this is Laura in Eugene just wanting to lift up prayers for Renzo. Heavenly Father we lift Renzo up to You. He’s a faithful Young man in this community and has made such a big impact with his prayer and with his commitment. Lord I pray that You could guide him during schoolwork. I pray that You can help him as he works hard for You and all areas of his life. And I especially pray for Your guidance and Your presence with him as he works on school assignments and school things that need to be done. I know how challenging school can be these days, and I just ask for Your presence with him strongly. I pray that he knows that all things…we can do all things through You and that we want to do all the things that You put in front of us the best that we can to glorify You. I pray this for Renzo. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Isaiah 60:1-62:5, Philippians 1:27-2:18, Psalm 72:1-20, Proverbs 24:11-12

Today is the 30th day of September, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It’s great to be here with you today. We made it this far. All the way to the last day of the ninth month of the year. Crazy as it sounds. We made it this far together day-by-day, step-by-step, and so, let’s step in to our reading today. We’re in the book of Isaiah. Today we will read chapter 60 verse 1 through 62 verse 5. And we’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible this week.

Commentary:

Okay, in Paul’s letter to the Philippians, we encounter some pretty lofty statements today and we’ll go through it. But if we were like, kinda boiling things down we would come to this understanding: Jesus is Lord. And I doubt that you’ve never heard that one before. I doubt that even you’ve never said it before; we say these kinds of things all the time. But for policy, Jesus is Lord. It’s not like saying Jesus is like the supreme master over things. It’s him saying Jesus is God, which is what the early church was confessing and what Paul was preaching and what was problematic and very controversial because well, we…we understand that the Jewish people would not say, would not say God’s name. So, oftentimes there’d be like a replacement, like for example Adonai, which is not a name of God, that is a Hebrew word that means, Lord. So, when they began to say Jesus is Lord, well, you see, you see the situation and yet that is indeed what we believe as Christians, and that is indeed what the early church was confessing and we do indeed still confess that until this day and that is central to what Paul was preaching. And, you can see why Paul appealed to Caesar instead of going back to Jerusalem, where they would most likely assassinate him. So, now you sitting in prison waiting for the emperor to decide whether he’s going to live or die, essentially over this, as well as his activity among the Gentiles. He’s a blasphemer in their mind; blasphemy is to elevate something to the level of God. Jesus is Lord, elevates Jesus to the place of God. We as Christians, 2000 years later who believe this and are going to get killed for believing this, we don’t always grasp how tenuous and how problematic and how what a struggle that they went through in their declaration of faith. And so, Paul uses language in this letter, essentially to unpack that and there’s plenty biblical scholars would think this particular thing this statement, this statement, that Paul makes might’ve been something that was spoken, like creedal, was something that was recited or memorize or spoken in the churches, which wouldn’t be all that unusual. We still in many, many tens and tens and tens of thousands of churches around the world do express some kind of declaration, some sort of, whether it be creed, a creed that we recite or some sort of confession that we make, it’s never been foreign, a foreign concept to the church. But what we get from what Paul is saying is a pretty clear picture of his Christology, not to get all theological but his view of who Jesus really is. And so, I wanna repeat those six verses so that we can immerse ourselves in that, this is what the early believers believed about Jesus. This is what we believe. Who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be exploited. Instead He emptied himself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. And when He had come as a man, He humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death - even to death on a cross. For this reason, God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. This is what we believe as Christians. This is what brought Paul ultimately to his execution. So, it’s reasonably safe for us to say that he believed this, he suffered for this, and he died for this and so when we say Jesus is Lord, lets understand that it’s not a bumper sticker. It’s a declaration that Jesus is one with the Father. Jesus is God.

Prayer:

So, Holy Spirit, we invite You into that. We invite You to make us more and more aware of this reality, lead us deeper into the heart of Jesus, our Savior, who is Lord. Help us, help us to do what this letter says to do everything without grumbling and arguing, so that we may be blameless and pure children of God who are faultless in a crooked and perverse generation, among whom we are supposed to shine like stars in the world as we hold firm to the word of life. Holy Spirit, lead us deeper into Jesus, that we might continue to be transformed into his likeness so that we can be like him in this world. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Mark Street here from Australia. Haven’t called for a while. I have a real desperate prayer request, my brother-in-law, he’s gone missing in the Northern Territory. It’s been a couple of months now, he does suffer from a mental illness as well, we’re quite worried and concerned. He’s been through a lot, he’s lost his son, it’s real tough. Please pray for him. He’s way up in the Outback, he could be up in the Outback Bush, he’s a bit like a Crocodile Dundee, actually. But, we’re not sure and we’re really worried. If you could please really pray for revelation and closure and for him to be found and wherever he is that he’s safe with the Lord. Yeah, okay thanks a lot everyone. Bye.

Hello Daily Audio Bible, this is Alyssa calling from Colorado. I’ve been listening since the beginning of the year, I did live in Montana, I called once before. I love this community so much and I’m just reaching out today because I got COVID a few weeks ago and I have lost my taste and smell and I don’t have COVID anymore but the symptom has not gone away and I’m actually totally blind, I was born that way, and so for me losing taste and smell is really, really difficult and it leaves me depressed almost every day and I cry about it every day and I know God can heal, I know he’s able to do it. But I’m fearful that it won’t go away or that it won’t come back because I’ve heard people who don’t get it back for a long time so I just need your prayers against fear and that I’ll trust God in what He’s trying to teach me through this. But that if it’s His will I’ll get my senses back so that life will be a little bit easier for me. So, thank you so much for your prayers in advance. And I love each and every one of you. And God bless you, have a wonderful day.

Just wanted to say how much I am blessed by the Daily Audio Bible Scripture reading and how moved I am by the prayers. Thank all of you for calling in. I do want just lift up the prayers for parents. I am a parent of four and I just parents who really grab a hold of the prayer that you, that the Lord would bless our children and enlarge their territory, they He would keep their hand of safety upon them, that He would keep them far from evil, that He would even keep evil people away from our children and that every single day our children would learn to love Him with all their heart, soul, strength, and mind. Thank you. We pray all this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

This is Bonnie from Virginia. And today is September 27th. I was listening to the message, thank you so much Pastor Brian, for the message today. I had been living in the abusive marriage relation for about 14 years. But, I think, because of my culture that in Nepal, even though I was a teacher I was not able to escape from that relation because back in our culture if any marry relation will be broken it’s mostly it will be the wife, they will think it’s her fault. And so, maybe because of that scare thought I was living in the abusive relation. I had physical, mental, sexual, verbal abuse every day from my husband. But once I came to America with him, I was able to learn everything about not coping with the abusive attitude of my husband. And I prayed and got advice from other people and I was able to escape from that relation. After 14 years I was able to understand this message from the bible. And thank you very much. I hope this message will …

Hi, I’m a first-time caller from Wyoming. And I was listening to the September 24th cast and I heard a woman who asked for prayer for her 18-year-old son who was going to discipleship training school in Hawaii and I am struggling with the same issue with my daughter. She got accepted to a discipleship training school in New Zealand in January. And of course, New Zealand is closed and it doesn’t look like it’s going to open any time soon and I want my daughter to apply to a different one and she’s accusing me of not having enough faith and that God will make a way for her to go. So, I could just really use some prayer. And I am praying for your son who is going, it’s a huge step and it’s exciting and I would just appreciate prayer. Thank you.

Isaiah 57:15-59:21, Philippians 1:1-26, Psalms 71:1-24, Proverbs 24:9-10

Today is the 29th day of September welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it’s wonderful to be here with you today as we come together and take the next step forward. Today we’ll be continuing our journey through the book of Isaiah in the Old Testament. In the New Testament we are moving into some new territory, the letter to the Philippians. And we’ll talk about that when we get there. We’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible this week. Isaiah chapter 57 verse 15 through 59 verse 21.

Introduction to the letter to the Philippians:

Okay. As…as I mentioned at the beginning, we’re moving into some new territory here in the New Testament, Paul’s letter to the Philippians. And this is one of the letters among biblical scholars and historians that Paul’s authorship, just about no one debates about this, holds it as an authentic letter of Paul, not just a letter of…of Pauline school or Pauline theology or thought, but from Paul. And there’s little disagreement that he was incarcerated when he wrote this letter. And, so, that would likely date this letter somewhere around 61, the year 61 A.D. and written from Rome while he’s awaiting a trial before the Emperor. And, so, we realize reading up prison epistle, a letter written while Paul was in prison, but it’s also very early Christian text. So, this letter was written before the Gospels were written – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. It was written before the book of Acts was written. So, we have a really early letter here written to the Philippians, those at the church in the city called Philippi, which was a colony of the Roman Empire in the region of Macedonia, which is now the northern part of Greece. And Philippi was a prosperous enough city, but it…it appears that the church was not particularly wealthy. They were…they were poor, but rich in love and rich in their allegiance to Paul. And, so, part of this letter is just gratitude, thank…thanks for that. The church in Philippi knew Paul was in prison so they sent somebody to check on him, someone named Epaphroditus who was a part of the congregation there, went to Rome to find out how Paul was doing, bring him a gift from the congregation to support him to lift his spirits. And you can imagine Paul being in prison in Rome on a capital…like a life-or-death case, would find encouragement and comfort in…in this gesture and in any way he could. And Epaphroditus stayed with Paul. And, so, helped Paul during his incarceration, but he eventually got really sick and just about died. And, so, when Epaphroditus got well enough again Paul wanted to send him back to Philippi along with this letter to the Philippians which talks of his circumstances. And, so, in part just the well-being of Paul, like a missionary update. But there’s so much more. Paul’s in prison writing language of the joy of our salvation more than is expressed in any of his other letters and perseverance. And this is something that we’re gonna keep seeing all the way to the end of the year, more and more. Perseverance and endurance become such an increasing pervasive disruptive theme because perseverance is the last thing we necessarily want to sign up for. But endurance is critical to the life of faith and actually the human experience. And, so, Paul encourages perseverance, and that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, which kinda…I mean the last couple years…I mean I could say even longer than that, but we all know what 2020 was like and very different kind of experience of a year. And we’re trying to move back into whatever normal might be, whatever this new normal is, get back to how things were. But Philippians really speaks to us where we are if we’re looking for it. And, so, we begin. Philippians chapter 1 verses 1 through 26.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for this new letter to the Philippians that we are just getting into, and we invite You to speak to us from days gone by, into the heart of the matter that is happening even today, which is what Your word does. It reveals to us plenty of things over time, and it always lands where we are. And, so, come Holy Spirit and plant the Scriptures in our lives and our hearts pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hey everybody this is Jonathan from Denver. Speaking in the terms of the story of the prodigal son, this past week I have really been off in the far country. I…I really walked away from God, and I fell into my own desires and my own vices, and I was incredibly selfish and just been kind of digging myself deeper into a hole. Today I woke up and kind of just realized how miserable I am. So, I am trying to get back. I fell behind. I wasn't…I wasn’t listening to DAB so now I’m catching up. But I just need prayer, that I would fall back into the arms of Christ and let Him fill me and satisfy me instead of trying to satisfy myself with all the selfish desires. So, if you could all just please be praying I would really appreciate that. I hope you’re doing great day and I love you. Bye.

Hey DAB family I’m a first-time caller. I’ve been listening to the Daily Audio Bible since January 1st and shout out to Jamie in Illinois for encouraging me to check it out because it has definitely changed my life. To the gentleman who mentioned yesterday that he had prayed and asked God to give him a name, that a lot of people use, handle on here, not his word but my word, anyway that they use that to identify themselves instead of their real names. And, so, thank you for that. I can introduce myself as His Crown of Daisies and I have a prayer request. I have a broken, shattered relationship with my father and stepmother, and they have agreed to see me sometime next month to sit down and talk about the things that happened, the drama that happened, all the things that shattered the relationship and to possibly begin the process of restoring those relationships. I have two sons and they don’t know their grandfather, or their step grandmother and I really feel like that needs to be rectified. Boys need a grandpa. The girls do too, I’m not saying they don’t. But those…this girl needs her daddy. I don’t care how old you get; you still need your dad and I would appreciate your prayers for that. Thank you.

Hi DAB family this is Angie from Eugene OR and today I am calling for prayer request for my daughter Savannah. She has stress related IBS and colitis and terrible stomach problems. But more…worse than that she has anxiety. She’s in college. She’s 20 years old, she’s had a pretty rough time. She lost her dad to pancreatic cancer a year ago. She was very very close to him. She lost me, her mom, to drug addiction from the age of 12 to the age of 20. So, I am now sober two years and have been in contact with her for two years by phone. I moved to the state to be by her once I was able to and things are going great now between us. We are rebuilding our relationship but because of the abandonment from me and then the death of her father this little girl has had to be extra strong, and she has suffered immensely to no fault of her own. However, she is resilient, and she just is an amazingly strong girl. So, she faces a lot of challenges at school and in college. She goes to the University of Idaho, and she has to deal with the peer pressure, the drinking, which she confines in me about. But God has brought me out of addiction and he has restored a relationship with me and her which I never believed was even impossible. I never even believed I could be where I am today. So, anyways I’m praying for her stress, I’m praying for her anxiety, I’m praying for her stomach pain. I’m about to run out of time. I love you guys. Thank you, Brian and God bless everybody. Amen. Thank…

Good morning this is Longing to be God’s Delight in Pennsylvania. I’m calling in this morning for Maggie Mae who I heard a few days ago in utter despair over the illness of…it sounded like all of her family, there were children and grandchildren, and her voice was just so…so torn and with pain and…and fear and not knowing where to turn. It just broke my heart. I’m also praying for Lazarus who called in this morning. I’ve been praying for him for who was in desperate need of shoulder surgery and extreme financial straits, about to lose his apartment and in terrible pain. Lord, we just don’t know where to turn. So, his advice is wise, to turn to Jesus. I want to pray from Psalm 103. Lord, we bless You, we bless You from the depths of our souls and inner being. Help us Lord not to forget Your benefits, to remember that You do forgive us. You have…have died, You sent Jesus to die for us and You do heal our diseases and redeem us from the pit. You crown us with love and mercy and satisfy us with good. I pray for Maggie Mae and her attire family and for Lazarus and for all of us that You would lift them up…lift us up, heal us, renew our Youth like the eagles. Work righteousness in us. Help us Holy Spirit to keep in Your loving arms. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Hi DAB this is Renee __ AKA a Kathleen in Illinois and I’m listening on the 27th today on September 27th and I heard Lazarus call in and about being in constant pain and he talked about having to take Percocet every day. That’s what I…my mom had had to take that every day because of just chronic pain that she had. And…and I know it’s an incredibly strong drug. And I was thinking…and you were saying you’re still having pain even despite that. And, so, I just wanted you to know that I’m lifting you up in prayer. In fact, let’s just pray Lord right now. Lord Jesus, I wanna lift up Lazarus to you in this chronic pain that he is experiencing and has been experiencing for quite some time. And I pray that…I just pray for healing. I pray for healing for him, just complete healing. I pray that his entire physical body would be renewed, would be raised from the…the death that it is now in, the sickness, the death, that it would be raised just like his namesake Lazarus. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Isaiah 54:1-57:14, Ephesians 6:1-24, Psalm 70:1-5, Proverbs 24:8

Today is September 28th, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible, I’m Brian, it is wonderful, like every day, wonderful to be around the Global Campfire together with you. We together create this oasis in our lives just a little peaceful place to go and let God’s word speak to us. A place where we leave the cares of the world and the obligations and responsibilities outside the circle and we can gather all that stuff back up if we want when we’re done, but it sure makes a difference to sit it down for a minute, allow the Scriptures to speak into our lives, reorient our hearts to God, it just changes the perspective. So, I am so grateful to be here together with you for the next step forward and that next step forward will take us back into the book of Isaiah today, chapter 54 verse 1 through 57 verse 14.

Commentary:

Alright so, we concluded the letter to the Ephesians, today and there are many famous passages in the letter to the Ephesians and…and we looked at them as…as we went through. But as Paul closes this letter, we encounter a very famous passage dealing with the armor of God, it’s very famous. We talk about this stuff all of the time. Suit up with your armor, did you put your armor on, etc., or we’ve memorized this passage and so we recite this passage as if we’re putting on the armor of God, but have we ever actually contemplated what this armor is and what it’s supposed to do. Paul says put on the belt of truth. If you think about a belt, well if I think about a belt, it holds my pants up but if it’s a tool belt then it’s got equipment on it, things that I need right at my hand, my fingertips. We understand that concept, but do we make the correlation that, that belt is truth that we walk in the truth and that we tell the truth, that’s how we use this tool, this belt. So, if we’re willing to be duplicitous or deceitful or kind of curating things in such a way that a ton of stuff is hidden then we don’t have the belt of truth on and that holds everything else together and makes things available at our fingertips. The metaphors pretty clear but we need to not forget that the belt is truth. We’re also told to put the breastplate of righteousness on, this is like to cover the vital organs. It’s like body armor. It’s the righteousness of God that protects our hearts. So, let’s just have an idea of ourselves, all suited up and armor like were armored up, the righteousness of God is our breastplate. And then on our feet, typically we wear shoes and so shoes…are you, shoes are the gospel of peace. The readiness to walk in the gospel of peace. So, let’s just like expand that, we understand that if we put shoes on our feet and go out the door, then the likelihood of the shoes being on our feet and going wherever it is that we go are pretty strong. We’re supposed to be wearing shoes or sandals that represent our readiness for the gospel of peace. In other words, where ever we go we take the gospel of peace. And we have a shield that can stop things being flung at us, fiery arrows of the devil. The bible says that can block things that are shot our direction. That shield is faith. If we don’t have faith, we don’t have a shield. And on our head is a helmet, it protects our minds. It makes us aware and alert and able to participate in what God is doing that helmet is salvation. And so, these things protect us. They keep us safe and moving in the right direction. But we are also given an offensive weapon, a sword. The sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. And then to tie it all together, pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints. Obviously, this is a famous passage of Scripture and as I said many of us have it committed to memory. If you, don’t it’s worth committing to memory. It’s in the sixth chapter of Ephesians. You can go back and examine all of this for yourself, but looking closer at what the tools, what the resources are, as opposed to the metaphor of armoring up, which is the metaphor Paul chose, like it’s a great analogy, but so often we just look at ourselves and think about being suited up and protected and not look at what those resources actually are. Those resources are the truth. The righteousness of God. The gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and prayer. If those things are present then we are wearing this armor.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, we confess sometimes we’re half dressed, sometimes we’re out in the world naked with no armor, sometimes we’re fully suited up, sometimes we don’t know what we are, but we have clarity here in this letter for what we need if we wonder how Jesus might have navigated in this world, we can look at these resources that are made available to Your children freely, that we might navigate successfully in this world. So come, Holy Spirit, and help us pay attention to what the armor actually is so that we might actually participate in the gifts that You have given us. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Good morning DABers. This is God’s Chosen from Georgia. I’m asking for prayer for my friend and sister Lisa. She’s going to be having surgery on Tuesday. She’s a mighty woman of God, she loves the Lord. She’s a prayer warrior and she’s an amazing person. She has transformed so many lives, just touched so many lives. So, please pray for Lisa that the surgery will go well on Tuesday. Pray for her husband, Coach, that God would give him the strength he needs to be able to wait on the Lord. To be able to trust Him as we all also partner together with them to lift out before the throne of mercy. Thank you, Treasured Possessions for that powerful prayer this morning, just hearing you intercede, it gladdens my heart. And to all DABers, all those that take time to pray, to intercede for other people’s needs, I pray God’s blessings over each and every one of you. Jill, Brian, Ezekiel, Max, China, Tina and Chris and all others working behind the scene, we can never thank you enough for making this real and blessing our lives. Thank you again, please lift up Lisa. God bless you and have a wonderful weekend.

Hi beautiful family, this is Susan calling from Albuquerque. I was moved today by Sharon’s request for her daughter ShaRon who was given a, who was told she was gonna need open-heart surgery. Father, I want to lift her up and her daughter up in prayer to You, today. And, thank You so much for carrying both of them in Your hands, Your beautiful loving and healing hands. We ask, that if this is indeed the path that You need them to go down that it is, that they will find the right surgeon to this surgery. And that You will bring him confidence in his abilities, comfort and that they can go into this with peace and free from worry. And, we know that, if this is indeed is the path she needs to take, that she is going to be given a much healthier healing and restorative life in her physical feeling. I’m sure that if she, the reason she found this out is she’s not feeling to well. So, if this is a change it’s gonna make her life much better, we thank You so much. We lift her up to encourage her, to comfort her and to give her a feeling of peace that all will be well. We thank You so much for Your love for Sharon and her daughter ShaRon. Amen Father. Thank you family.

Hello brothers and sisters this is Royal, I hope that your heart has been able to find at least one moment of peace in reflection of God’s beauty around us. I’m calling to lift up those who are sick and ask that you would join me in lifting up my cousin Jenna, who is getting married next Saturday, it’s a week from today. And, bless her heart, the poor thing has come down with Bronchitis and she’s trying so hard not to be a bridzilla but she’s just really stressed out, there’s just a lot of things still left to do to get ready. And I’m one of her bridesmaids so I’m trying to help as much as I can. And also, for my sister Alyssa, sadly just found out her landlord passed away so now her and her three kids, my nieces and nephew, have to figure out a new house situation and the market here is just really difficult. So, God, we just come before You with grateful hearts and give You glory in advance because You are faithful Lord and Your faithful when we seek You. Your faithful when our hearts are far from You. God, I lift up those who are just sick and come down with anything respitory or just stressed induced. God, I just ask that You would flush out the toxins from their body and help them be restored to full health again and full strength again and help them be refreshed and to just breath in a breath of life. Just thank You for giving us breath every day, Lord. God, I lift up my cousin to You, pray that You would just help this Bronchitis to be healed in time for her to say her vows. I lift up my sister to You that You would provide and open doors Lord. Give You the glory. Amen.

We are all reflections no matter what we say or do
And most of the times we tend to reflect those things that we believe in our heart to be true
Even though Scripture warns us that the heart is deceitfully wicked and very easily mislead
Scripture also advises us to pay close attention to those things upon which our hearts are being fed
Because out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks and our words become the reflections of those things our hearts seek
How much influence does social media exert on the things you do and say?
How much time do you spend on the internet in the course of a normal day?
How much time to do you spend reading God’s word, how much time do you actually spend in prayer?
Our actions are the outer manifestations of what’s internally there.
Are you reflecting God when you open your mouth to speak?
Or are your actions more self-serving, reflecting passions and desires that run deep?
Because it’s nice to receive love and praise from the world and our peers
But that too fades with the passing of years.
And only that what you do for God has the power to last, social morays and fads all eventually pass
Proverbs says that gossip tastes sweet when you first take it in
But it turns into a poison once it gets deep down within
That’s why it’s so important to feed daily on God’s word and prayer
And not be so quick to ingest those things from the internet that people are so eager to share
Pray for God’s Holy Spirit to lead you to all that is true
And try to be an accurate reflection of Christ in all that you say and do
Blindtony1016@gmail.com I’d like to give a shout out to David Michael Thice and Darlene Thice, know you’re both very much loved and prayed….

Hello family, it’s Drew from the Bay Area. Listen I’m just calling, I had a rough day yesterday at work. I believe it was a spiritual attack. I see thousands of people every day and I had somebody just yell at me throwing F-bombs at me the other day, yesterday. And, I want you to pray Ephesians 4:5 says that there’s one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God, one Father of all who is in…who is over all and through all and in all. So, I’m one with you brothers and sisters, we are one together. Please pray for us all as this is a very trying time in this world right now. People are on edge. And, in the beginning of that…that chapter it talks about us being humble. Be gentle, be patient, be bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity and the spirit through the bond of peace. And that’s a lot more difficult than we think when we’re trying to live in the world and not walking by faith all the time. So, pray for me. I’m praying for all of you. Brian and Jill, thank you for this ministry that you have. James, the teacher from LA, it’s so amazing to hear your voice again, I’m glad that you’re well. And God’s Smile, we’re praying for you, climb those stairs, keep smiling. Kiss Kiss.

Isaiah 51:1-53:12, Ephesians 5:1-33, Psalms 69:19-36, Proverbs 24:7

Today is the 27th day of September welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian and it is wonderful to be here with you today as we get into our work week and do what we do every day, take the next step forward together on our journey through the Bible. We’re kinda turning the corner in Isaiah. We’ve camped out in Isaiah for…for…for a bit here and there are 66 chapters in Isaiah and we’re at the 51st chapter. So, not too far to go. And in the New Testament, there are six chapters in the letter to the Ephesians. And we’re at the fifth chapter today. So, we’ll be finishing Ephesians tomorrow. But we’re here now and we’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible this week. Isaiah 51, 52, and 53 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, in the letter to the Ephesians today we reach a pretty famous passage of Scripture that deals with wives and husbands, pretty well known. I’m heard it most of my life, seen it used as a child all the way through adulthood, all the way into ministry. Have seen it used in all kinds of…well all kinds of marital situations. And honestly for the most part, it’s always been to prove someone’s right, and it’s been used a lot for…well…yeah…to be corrective and to be right and even in some cases to be dominant. Like it's…it’s used in ways that aren’t particularly healthy and aren’t particularly what the passage is saying. So, let’s just look at this. “Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord because the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of the body. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives are to submit to their husbands in everything.” That’s the portion I’ve heard more often than the second half so that the wife, the female partner becomes submissive to the male partner as the head of the household no matter what the husband is doing or no matter what the husband is like. It’s sort of like this de facto…well…you’re married. this is what you gotta do. The thing about this famous passage of Scripture is that it has more to say to the husband then it really does to the wife. And, so, being fair here, “husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her to make her holy, cleansing her with the washing of water by the word. He did this to present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or anything like that but holy and blameless. In the same way, husbands are to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hates his own flesh, but provides and cares for it, just as Christ does for the church.” And, so, basically, yes, here are some instructions. They’re not one sided. It’s a reciprocal thing that works together. And, so, I’m a man and I’m a husband and I’m a father. And, so, that’s something that I have yet to master and don’t know that I ever will but at least that’s what I am, and that’s what I’ve been for a long time. And, so, I can say, husbands if you want your wives in submission then you better be in submission to Christ loving her, as Christ loved the church, loving her like Jesus does, then there’s not going to be a problem, typically in that area. A woman who is treasured and loved knowing that her husband is laying his life down for her is bringing Jesus to her is leading her to Jesus and she is also a believer, then there is not likely gonna be the kinds of problems that get these verses used for domination and to be right. Wives, if your husband is doing his best in that direction and that’s not even noticed, that’s just expected…because if that’s supposed to do that and you’re just supposed to receive it and there’s no respect there, that also grows bitterness. And, so, basically we can take Paul’s summary sentence where he literally says, “to sum up” and take this on board into our hearts as we consider our relationships. Paul says, “to sum up”, and he’s still speaking to the husband, “each one of you is to love his wife as himself, and the wife is to respect her husband.” In my limited experience, although my experience has had an awful lot of conversations, and both of those things are happening, there’s a path forward from just about anything. And I’ve mentioned that I’ve basically…I’ve seen this passage used in, like I said, ways to be right, ways to become dominant, ways to get somebody into submission. And wives if…if you’re even on the receiving end of that and your husband isn’t loving you as Christ loved the church, which doesn’t mean he’s not gonna make mistakes, do stupid things, but if you’re in an abusive situation somehow, that you feel like, you can’t…there’s like nothing you can do, you just have to kind of take it and endure it and its physical abuse or verbal abuse or sexual abuse or whatever…that’s a good time to come back to this passage and understand what you should be expecting because what you should be expecting is that your spouse is leading you to Jesus, is…your spouse is loving you as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for…laid His life down for her. There’s nothing about abuse here. Jesus doesn’t abuse us. Jesus died for us that we might find freedom. Jesus isn’t going to physically abuse you, nor will He sexually abuse you, nor will He verbally abuse you. I put that out there just simply because of what I have experienced and seen. Jesus loves us all so much, and if we loved each other with the love of Christ with the love of the Lord, if we loved our neighbor, even our spouse as we love ourselves…ahh…if we would do that in our marriages just in our marriages, we could start dreaming about how the world is going to change because it would. We wouldn’t be passing down these generational behaviors to our children who are gonna be doing the same things that we do only with their own version and it just keeps going in a big circle. If we husbands would love our wives as Christ loved the church and wives if your husband is doing that, if you would realize that he’s a priest in your home, he’s there to bring you to Jesus and to love you with the love of the Lord, gosh, the…the whole landscape of relationships would change. And, so, we have a beautiful model here to look at. It just gets skewed when one side is trying to dominate the other side to be right about things when in truth we’re laying ourselves down, we’re laying down those rights and wrongs and submitting to Christ, which changes the atmosphere in any situation.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit we invite You into that. Nothing can be more tumultuous, nothing anymore trying and difficult than being in marriage. And yet it is gift that constantly exposes our own brokenness and our own desire for dominance and our own selfishness. So, may we take the passage in Ephesians today to heart, examining our own lives and not just trying to spend our lives changing our spouse when we’re not changing ourselves. Come Holy Spirit. This is a big one. We need Your help. And we ask for it in the name of Jesus. Amen.

dailyaudiobible.com, that is home base, that’s Global Campfire land, that’s where we come every day. It’s technology but that’s where we end up every day. And, so, check out dailyaudiobible.com or if you’re using the Daily Audio Bible app you can access the pertinent things at dailyaudiobible.com within the app by pushing the Drawer icon in the upper left-hand corner.

And one pertinent very, very important thing is the Community section. This is where to go to find the different links to the different social media channels that we’re involved in and is a great place to get connected to the Daily Audio Bible, but also to each other. So, check that out. That is also the section where you will find the…the Prayer Wall. And the Prayer Wall is always there and it’s always on. And, so, if you are waking up in the night with night frights, you can go there and ask your brothers sisters for prayer, to pray for you or if you are going through some relational things you can ask for prayer. If you lost your job you can ask for prayer. It doesn’t matter what you’re carrying. And those are maybe some more extreme things, but we’re all always carrying things and we do our best to entrust them to the Lord and often one of the best ways to do that is to bring it to our brothers and sisters and stop trying to carry it around alone. And, so, the Prayer Wall is there and always available and it is always available for us to go. Maybe things are great and it’s time for us to go hold up some arms and shoulders of our brothers and sisters who are struggling very very mightily right now and have left their story on the Prayer Wall. It is so encouraging to know that people are praying for us, and we can…we can let them know that we’re praying for you there at the Prayer Wall. So, be aware of that. That is in the Community section, either on the web or in the app.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, that can be done at dailyaudiobible.com as well. There is a link on the homepage. If you’re using the app, you can press the Give button in the upper right-hand corner. And I don’t have adequate words, I never have had adequate words to express awe and wonder at it all. Just the fact that this can even happen, that we have technology and live at a time on earth where this can happen, where we can gather together around the Global Campfire and take the next step forward together. Just…geesh…within my lifetime this wasn’t possible. If we go back a century this is science fiction. And, so, what…what a joy to have this opportunity where we can reach toward one another, but we wouldn’t be here if we weren’t in this together. And, so, thank you humbly for your partnership. I mentioned there’s a link at dailyaudiobible.com on the homepage. If you’re using the app, there is the Give button in the upper right-hand corner, or the mailing address is PO Box 1996 Spring Hill Tennessee 37174.

And, as always, if you have a prayer request or encouragement you can at the Hotline button in the app or you can dial 877-942-4253.

And that’s it for today. I’m Brian I love you and I’ll be waiting for you here tomorrow.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Good evening this is Tierra from Texas again. I just finished listening to today’s message and the first prayer that I heard was Casey from, I think he said Hawaii, and his wife Shamara. And if I am wrong, I am so sorry. But I just wanted to pray for his wife and him with them dealing with trauma and, you know, battling addiction and overcoming addiction. Father we come to You, and we just thank You for the Spirit that You’ve created within Casey and his wife, for Casey to have the heart to pray for his wife, for Shamara to have such a wonderful husband, for a couple, a marriage that you’ve blessed, for both of them to pray for each other and just to ask…ask for prayers from everyone else. I pray that the enemy has no entryway into their marriage, their relationship, has no way of attacking his wife. Sometimes with addiction there’s always a place for another addiction to take…take root. I pray that does not happen. In the name of Jesus, I pray that that is removed, any type of attacks or, you know, attempts to form another addiction that that is removed and that is not able to happen Father. And I pray in the name of Jesus that you just continue to heal from past trauma and grow and learn and move forward with relationship with You Father. These blessings I ask in Your son’s holy name Jesus. Amen.

Hi, my name is Maurine McIntosh from Alexandria VA. I just heard the wailing and the crying of a mother, grandmother for children. She mentioned the name of Dominique and Ariana. She said her whole household is sick. I pray for her this morning. __ Daily Audio Bible believers and worshippers let’s pray for her. Father, in the name of Jesus we come before You oh Lord as a group of believers asking dear Father that You would hear and answer the cry, the wails, the cry, the deep suffering of this household. We pray the blood of Jesus upon Dominique and Ariana. We speak healing and deliverance over them in the name of Jesus. Father, we thank You that Your hands are not short, and Your ears are not deaf Lord God and that You are the God who heals. You send forth Your word to heal every disease. Father, we pray that You will heal Dominique and Ariana and the entire household of this dear lady in the name of Jesus. We pray for courage and strength for her. Even as she trusts in You Lord God, she would know that You’ve heard her prayer. And I pray for every Daily Audio Bible listener and every believer in the body of Christ all over…

This is Sharon in Southern California. It’s been a while since I’ve called. A lot of things have been going on. Please pray for me and my family. My…my…my husband, he’s denying his alcoholism and it’s getting worse and I’m trying to help him get his VA benefits so that he can go into a program. But the reason why I’m really calling is because I just heard a call from a young lady who’s family is ill and she herself was so distraught she was crying and pleading with God to save her family. And I…I just want to pray. Dear heavenly Father, thank You for Your blessings and thank You for allowing us to be able to come to You in prayer with our deepest most sincere issues and problems and trials and tribulations Lord. And I ask in Your sons, Jesus’ name, that You heale this family, that You comfort the woman who called. I didn’t catch her name Lord, but You know who she is, that You comfort her heart and bring her peace and…and heal the family, touch them Lord with Your loving and tender touch Lord and heal their bodies. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

Hello there DAB family this is Lavender Dream calling again. I don’t call in too much ‘cause I just listen and pray for everyone, but I just heard the Friday September 24th podcast. Thank you, pastor Brian always. And Maggie Mae, you absolutely touched my heart. I can hear your…your fear and your anguish over your family and I know that this is just what the enemy wants, to distract you from focusing on Jesus. I speak from my own personal experience as I’ve dealt with many health issues. And when I focus on Jesus, He…He’s brought me back from the brink of death several times. And I know that He is our great physician, and He gives us a peace that surpasses all understanding in the midst of the storm. So, I’m just praying that you can feel His presence, that you will focus on Him and trust that He has every one of your family members in His hands. And I also am asking for prayer for my grandson. We had to go to Boston yesterday. He has multiple disabilities. He was…he had a stroke in utero, and he is a quadriplegic and he needs surgery probably. So, I’m asking for prayer for him because surgery is risky for him with his brain…with his decreased brain development with anesthesia. So, please pray for him. His name is Jace. And I’m praying for all of you. I’ve heard…I don’t call in that much. I prefer to listen and pray for you. So, I’m praying for peace in my family and healing in all of yours from everything and…

Hey family this is Lazarus calling. I was calling to…but just heard Maggie Mae’s prayer request and she’s obviously torn to crap because the devil is attacking her entire family. And wow…my…my stuff seems so trivial by comparison. So, please family pray…pray for her. She’s just at…at the end of her rope. You can hear it and desperate. And any time we’re in desperate straits…straits we need to turn to the Lord. And sometimes that…all you see around you are flames and it’s just really hard. So, to that point, I’ve been…I’m bankrupt, I’m broke. I tried to schedule surgery and they want more money than I have. So, I’ve been needing it for years now and I’ve been putting it off and I’m in…I’m eating Percocet and taking it with vodka every day, several times a day and it’s not even working anymore. So, the pains incredible. And then I fell off a rail car bus in Denver the other day directly on my left shoulder which is in 1000 pieces already and I saw the face of God. So, no…just kidding…you’d __ never.  But the Lord is with me I know but man it’s hard. I am under spiritual attack from dawn until dusk every day. And, so, I’ve cancelled my surgery, I…I’m losing my apartment, I don’t have any money and it just goes on and on. And I’m not whining. He’s got me. He’s trying to get my attention about something and just beats the crap out of me what it is because every day I get multiple kicks in __. Yeah…you’ll probably edit that out or not. But anyway, so it’s just…you wouldn’t want to be me. So, I pray for you all. I love you all. I thank you. And if there’s any way you got a second to throw up a little prayer for me I’d appreciate it. God bless. Make it a great day. God bless you. Amen.

Isaiah 48:12-50:11, Ephesians 4:17-32, Psalm 69:1-18, Proverbs 24:5-6

Today is the 26th day of September, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian, it is wonderful to be here with you today, as we greet a new week together and throw open the threshold and step into this shiny sparkly week that is out in front of us. And now this week will bring us transition into another month so let’s dive in and take the next step forward together, which is the first step into this brand-new week. We’ll read from the Christian Standard Bible this week and continue our journey through the book of Isaiah today, chapter 48 verse 12 through 50 verse 11.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word and we thank You for this brand-new week that we have stepped into. We invite Your Holy Spirit into every moment and of course Your spirit is everywhere. Good morning, good morning Daily Audio Bible, today is September 23rd. This message is for, I think her name is Dana, Donna, I just wanted to lift you and your son up in prayer. My husband and I are having the same thing, the same problem with our son, he’s about to be 24 next month. He’s had some issues in another city that he lives in and he actually bought a gun for protection. So, we’re just praying for him, lifting him up as well. Its just things don’t happen the way they used to be in the old days. When we used to just fight it out. Now, they just want to buy guns and kill each other. So, we just got to keep lifting them up in prayer. God is listening. And it was so good to hear God’s Smile this morning, thank You Jesus for letting her make it downstairs and Lord God, we pray that she makes it downstairs every morning to get some of that sunlight and do whatever else she needs to do. It’s just good hearing your voice God’s Smile. Everybody have a blessed day and know that we’re always praying for each other. This is C from Mississippi and thanks Brian and Jill for the podcast we love you guys.

Oh my God, we just lift up Jay from formerly Los Angeles teaching school who is now north God. God, thank You for using him and lighting a fire and sending a co-laborer to him to encourage him. And to also be lifted, to also be encouraged. Thank You for the children that they are not just teaching but the children they are ministering to God. Thank You that in the midst of his wandering weariness God, You brought him hope and strength God. We lift up John his therapist Lord and we just ask you to touch him from the top of his God to the soul of his feet Lord. We lift up every hurting, hopeless, God, fragile and weak brother or sister that may need you in search of profound ways right now. We love You for Your power. We love You for Your love. We love You for Brian, God. We love You for his family. We love You for the ministry that flows through every member of the family as they teach, as they read, as they encourage and inspire, God. Bless them a thousand over for this ministry. I pray for seed sowers in this ministry; those that will support on a regular basis that will sign up for regular giving God. So, that this ministry continues to touch lives to restore hope. To encourage God and to help the broken. We love You Jesus for the Daily Audio Bible ministry. In Your mighty name we pray. Amen.

Hey Daily Audio Bible, it’s September 24th 2021, it’s Rebecca from Michigan. You know what, I think I’ve had a couple melt downs from this COVID virus. Anxiety and stress but I try not to focus on that because I don’t think God wants us to be in fear. I think He wants us to be in faith and trust Him through the whole thing. But, I think I just had enough. All the mask wear and talk about the vaccine, all that stuff, kind of gets to you after a while. I’m just like, life was starting to take off for me and then COVID came along and it’s so easy to focus on what’s going on in the world. Instead of keeping your eyes on God. I’m surprised, you know, so I know I’ll win. So, just give me your prayers cause I’ve been having a couple melt downs from this. But I think I’ll be okay, I just gotta keep my mind focused on the right place. Thank you for your prayers. Bye.
