The Daily Audio Bible Reading for Monday February 21, 2022 (NIV)

Leviticus 11-12

Clean and Unclean Land Animals

11 The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron: “Tell the Israelites: You may eat(A) all these kinds of land animals.(B) You may eat any animal with divided hooves and that chews the cud. But among the ones that chew the cud or have divided hooves you are not to eat these:

camels,(C) though they chew the cud,

do not have divided hooves—they are unclean for you;

hyraxes,(D) though they chew the cud,

do not have hooves—they are unclean for you;

hares, though they chew the cud,

do not have hooves—they are unclean for you;

pigs, though they have divided hooves,

do not chew the cud—they are unclean for you.

Do not eat any of their meat or touch their carcasses—they are unclean for you.(E)

Clean and Unclean Aquatic Animals

“This is what you may eat from all that is in the water: You may eat everything in the water that has fins and scales, whether in the seas or streams. 10 But these are to be abhorrent to you: everything in the seas or streams that does not have fins and scales among all the swarming things and other living creatures(F) in the water. 11 They are to remain abhorrent to you; you must not eat any of their meat, and you must abhor their carcasses. 12 Everything in the water that does not have fins and scales will be abhorrent to you.

Unclean Birds

13 “You are to abhor these birds. They must not be eaten because they are abhorrent:

eagles,[a](G) bearded vultures,

Egyptian vultures,[b] 14 kites,[c]

any kind of falcon,[d](H)

15 every kind of raven, 16 ostriches,[e]

short-eared owls, gulls,[f]

any kind of hawk,(I)

17 little[g] owls, cormorants,[h]

long-eared owls,[i](J)

18 barn[j] owls, eagle owls,[k](K)

ospreys, 19 storks,[l]

any kind of heron,[m]

hoopoes, and bats.

Clean and Unclean Flying Insects

20 “All winged insects that walk on all fours are to be abhorrent to you. 21 But you may eat these kinds of all the winged insects that walk on all fours: those that have jointed legs above their feet for hopping on the ground. 22 You may eat these:

any kind of locust,(L) katydid, cricket, and grasshopper.

23 All other winged insects that have four feet are to be abhorrent to you.

Purification after Touching Dead Animals

24 “These will make you unclean. Whoever touches their carcasses will be unclean(M) until evening, 25 and whoever carries any of their carcasses is to wash his clothes and will be unclean until evening.(N) 26 All animals that have hooves but do not have a divided hoof and do not chew the cud are unclean for you. Whoever touches them becomes unclean. 27 All the four-footed animals(O) that walk on their paws are unclean for you. Whoever touches their carcasses will be unclean until evening, 28 and anyone who carries their carcasses is to wash his clothes and will be unclean until evening. They are unclean for you.

29 “These creatures that swarm(P) on the ground are unclean for you:

weasels,[n] mice,(Q)

any kind of large lizard,[o]

30 geckos, monitor lizards,[p]

common lizards,[q] skinks,[r]

and chameleons.[s]

31 These are unclean for you among all the swarming creatures. Whoever touches them when they are dead will be unclean until evening. 32 When any one of them dies and falls on anything it becomes unclean—any item of wood, clothing, leather, sackcloth,(R) or any implement used for work. It is to be rinsed with water and will remain unclean until evening; then it will be clean. 33 If any of them falls into any clay pot, everything in it will become unclean; you are to break it. 34 Any edible food(S) coming into contact with that unclean water will become unclean, and any drinkable liquid in any container will become unclean. 35 Anything one of their carcasses falls on will become unclean. If it is an oven or stove, it is to be smashed; it is unclean and will remain unclean for you. 36 A spring or cistern containing water will remain clean, but someone who touches a carcass in it will become unclean. 37 If one of their carcasses falls on any seed that is to be sown, it is clean; 38 but if water has been put on the seed and one of their carcasses falls on it, it is unclean for you.

39 “If one of the animals that you use for food dies, anyone who touches its carcass will be unclean until evening. 40 Anyone who eats some of its carcass is to wash his clothes and will be unclean until evening. Anyone who carries its carcass must wash his clothes and will be unclean until evening.

Unclean Swarming Creatures

41 “All the creatures that swarm on the earth are abhorrent; they must not be eaten. 42 Do not eat any of the creatures that swarm on the earth, anything that moves on its belly or walks on all fours or on many feet,[t] for they are abhorrent. 43 Do not become contaminated by any creature that swarms; do not become unclean or defiled by them. 44 For I am the Lord your God,(T) so you must consecrate yourselves(U) and be holy because I am holy.(V) Do not defile yourselves by any swarming creature that crawls on the ground. 45 For I am the Lord, who brought you up from the land of Egypt to be your God,(W) so you must be holy because I am holy.(X)

46 “This is the law concerning animals, birds, all living creatures that move in the water, and all creatures that swarm on the ground, 47 in order to distinguish between the unclean and the clean, between the animals(Y) that may be eaten and those that may not be eaten.”

Purification after Childbirth

12 The Lord spoke to Moses: “Tell the Israelites: When a woman becomes pregnant and gives birth to a male child,(Z) she will be unclean seven days, as she is during the days of her menstrual impurity.(AA) The flesh of his foreskin(AB) must be circumcised(AC) on the eighth day.(AD) She will continue in purification(AE) from her bleeding(AF) for thirty-three days. She must not touch any holy thing or go into the sanctuary until completing her days of purification. But if she gives birth to a female child, she will be unclean for two weeks as she is during her menstrual impurity. She will continue in purification from her bleeding for sixty-six days.

“When her days of purification are complete, whether for a son or daughter, she is to bring to the priest at the entrance to the tent of meeting a year-old male lamb for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon or a turtledove for a sin[u] offering. He will present them before the Lord and make atonement on her behalf; she will be clean from her discharge of blood. This is the law for a woman giving birth, whether to a male or female. But if she doesn’t have sufficient means[v](AG) for a sheep, she may take two turtledoves or two young pigeons,(AH) one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering. Then the priest will make atonement on her behalf, and she will be clean.”

Mark 5:21-43

A Girl Restored and a Woman Healed

21 When(A) Jesus had crossed over again by boat[a] to the other side, a large crowd(B) gathered around him while he was by the sea. 22 One of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus,(C) came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet(D) 23 and begged him earnestly, “My little daughter is dying. Come and lay your hands on(E) her so that she can get well[b](F) and live.” 24 So Jesus went with him, and a large crowd was following and pressing against him.

25 Now a woman suffering from bleeding(G) for twelve years 26 had endured(H) much under many doctors.(I) She had spent everything she had and was not helped at all. On the contrary, she became worse. 27 Having heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched(J) his clothing.(K) 28 For she said, “If I just touch his clothes, I’ll be made well.”(L) 29 Instantly her flow of blood ceased, and she sensed in her body that she was healed(M) of her affliction.

30 Immediately Jesus realized that power(N) had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd(O) and said, “Who touched my clothes?”(P)

31 His disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing against you, and yet you say, ‘Who touched me?’

32 But he was looking around to see who had done this. 33 The woman, with fear and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down(Q) before him, and told him the whole truth.(R) 34 “Daughter,” he said to her, “your faith(S) has saved you.(T) Go in peace and be healed(U) from your affliction.”(V)

35 While he was still speaking, people came from the synagogue leader’s house and said, “Your daughter is dead. Why bother the teacher(W) anymore?”

36 When Jesus overheard[c] what was said, he told the synagogue leader, “Don’t be afraid.(X) Only believe.” 37 He did not let anyone accompany him except Peter,(Y) James,(Z) and John,(AA) James’s brother. 38 They came to the leader’s house, and he saw a commotion—people weeping and wailing loudly. 39 He went in and said to them, “Why are you making a commotion and weeping?(AB) The child(AC) is not dead but asleep.”(AD) 40 They laughed at him, but he put them all outside. He took the child’s father,(AE) mother, and those who were with him, and entered the place where the child was. 41 Then he took the child(AF) by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum”[d] (which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, get up”(AG)). 42 Immediately the girl got up(AH) and began to walk.(AI) (She was twelve years old.) At this they were utterly astounded.(AJ) 43 Then he gave them strict orders that no one should know about this(AK) and told them to give her something to eat.

Psalm 38

Psalm 38

Prayer of a Suffering Sinner

A psalm of David to bring remembrance.(A)

Lord, do not punish me in your anger
or discipline me in your wrath.(B)
For your arrows have sunk into me,
and your hand has pressed down on me.(C)

There is no soundness in my body
because of your indignation;
there is no health[a] in my bones
because of my sin.(D)
For my iniquities have flooded over my head;
they are a burden too heavy for me to bear.(E)
My wounds are foul and festering
because of my foolishness.(F)
I am bent over and brought very low;
all day long I go around in mourning.(G)
For my insides are full of burning pain,
and there is no soundness in my body.(H)
I am faint and severely crushed;
I groan because of the anguish of my heart.(I)

Lord, my every desire is in front of you;
my sighing is not hidden from you.(J)
10 My heart races, my strength leaves me,
and even the light of my eyes has faded.[b](K)
11 My loved ones and friends stand back from my affliction,
and my relatives stand at a distance.(L)
12 Those who intend to kill me set traps,
and those who want to harm me threaten to destroy me;
they plot treachery all day long.(M)

13 I am like a deaf person; I do not hear.
I am like a speechless person
who does not open his mouth.(N)
14 I am like a man who does not hear
and has no arguments in his mouth.(O)
15 For I put my hope in you, Lord;
you will answer me, my Lord, my God.(P)
16 For I said, “Don’t let them rejoice over me—
those who are arrogant toward me when I stumble.”(Q)
17 For I am about to fall,
and my pain is constantly with me.(R)
18 So I confess my iniquity;
I am anxious because of my sin.(S)
19 But my enemies are vigorous and powerful;[c]
many hate me for no reason.(T)
20 Those who repay evil for good
attack me for pursuing good.(U)

21 Lord, do not abandon me;
my God, do not be far from me.(V)
22 Hurry to help me,
my Lord, my salvation.(W)

Leviticus 9:7-10:20, Mark 4:26-5:20, Psalms 37:30-40, Proverbs 10:6-7

Today is the 20th day of February, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is wonderful to be here with you today as we greet a brand-new shiny sparkly week and remind ourselves that it’s a reset and the story of this week will be written, it will be written by us, we will live it and it will be created out of the choices and thoughts and words and interactions that we have this week. And may we be wise. And one wise move that we make every day is to come here around the Global Campfire and take the next step forward. And, so, let’s do that. It’s a brand-new week. We’ll read from the Christian Standard Bible this week. And picking up in the story that we left off, the giving of the law and the enactment of…well…where we left off yesterday, Aaron and his sons are going through the ordination process. What we are watching is the formation of the culture of Israel, the Hebrew people, the children of Israel. Today, Leviticus chapter 9 verse 7 through 10 verse 20.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word and we thank You for bringing us safely and successfully into this brand-new week. And today we heard words from the Psalms, “the mouth of the righteous others wisdom. His tongue speaks what is just. The instruction of his God is in his heart. His steps do not falter.” Lord, that is what we want our lives to look like. And we confess plenty of times our steps have faltered. We cannot do this on her own and so we humble ourselves before You, asking Your Holy Spirit to come and lead us that we might be transformed, that You are holy, so we must be holy as we are learning in the Old Testament. Help this to begin to sink in, that there are things that have to change. And guide our steps as we collaborate with You, acknowledge You, step forward with You into what needs to change. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hello, my DAB family my DAB house, my family that came straight from God. Today’s the 16th of February 22 and my name is Memory. I live in Hanchard England, and I’ve been listening to the DAB for nearly ten years now thanks to my baby brother Pitzi. God bless him. This is my first time to call family. I am asking if you may please pray for my 15-year-old niece MJ who has serious anger issues and is being very rebellious and getting into trouble at school. My sister is dealing with a lot of issues at the moment and the rebellion in MJ is really affecting her. Please may you pray that MJ be at peace with the passing of her dad and also that she stops acting up at school and at home. Please also pray for her butter who is in the midst of it all and for my sister that God may meet her at her point of need. I thank you my Daily Audio Bible family. I pray that the Lord bless you and keep you and I also thank you…thank Brian and all the Hardin family and all the people that work behind the lines to keep this platform going. Have a blessed day.

Hello this is John from the UK. I’d like to pray for my daughter Hannah who’s 13-/12 who has anorexia nervosa. She was a perfectly healthy girl until about September and then just started restricting on her eating and drinking to the point where she was dehydrated and had to be admitted to hospital. She’s in hospital now with my wife Rachel who has been caring for her and she’s been in the hospital with her 24/7 most of the time and is quite exhausted. We’ve had a lot of prayer, but we ask that in Jesus’ name you would set Hannah free from any evil that is making her not eat or drink and free her to eat and drink normally like a healthy girl and be the healthy, happy, Hannah she was especially when she gave her heart to Jesus last summer at the church youth camp. So, I pray please agree with me in Jesus’ name that she would be healed. Thank you very much. And bless you all. Amen.

Good morning Daily Audio Bible this is Curious George from Georgia first-time caller new to Daily Audio Bible this is Wednesday Thursday 17th of February my one-month anniversary of finding and join…joining the Daily Audio Bible. It is so good to hear the prayers of people from all over the world. I so enjoy hearing the different accents of believers all around this planet. It is so good to hear encouragement and prayers from other believers and to know that through prayer we can help each other. I’m reminded of one of my favorite verses in James chapter 5 where it says “the fervent effectual prayer of righteous people will availith much.” I believe that’s the old King James version, but I think you get the feeling. It’s so good to hear people and I so want to be able to pray better for the people that I hear but it’s hard to remember all of them of course. But just…I want you to know that I’m with you I love you all and I’m praying for you. And, so, again first-time caller. I want to check in regularly and become part of this community in this giant Global Campfire. I look forward to more encouragement and more praying. Talk to you later. Bye.

Good morning DAB family this is BW and NC. I wanted to call in this morning and first of all I want to pray for the young lady that called in on…the call was played last on February the 8th who is suffering from abuse and is new to our country. And, so, Lord I just pray that You…that You come alongside this Young lady, give her a faith community in her local area where she can go, and she can be safe and she can find resources that she needs for help. Lord, I pray that You protect her in the…in the interim. And Lord please…please I pray for the heart of…of the abuser Lord. Please just overcome the evil in this person part. Convict them, convict them with Your goodness so that they may see the error of their ways. So, Lord I just pray that in Your name. Before I go I just wanna say…I want to say hello to a few DAB friends and family. I want to say I’m thinking of you guys. Let’s see…who am I thinking of here? I’m thinking of Victoria Soldier, Blind Tony, Renzo. Renzo, I hope your family is doing well. I hope all is going well for you. Christy in Kentucky and Kathy in Kentucky. Soaring on Eagles Wings in Canada. His Little Chery in Canada. Someone I’ve been thinking about lately that I haven’t heard from is Melissa from Albertville AL. Hope you’re doing OK and you’re still with us. Also think of Whiter Than Snow. I hope you’re doing well. So, family I just want you to know that I’m thinking of you and I’m praying for you, and I enjoy hearing each and every one of you. Alright. Thanks, and have a great day.

The Daily Audio Bible Reading for Sunday February 20, 2022 (NIV)

Leviticus 9:7-10:20

Then Moses said to Aaron, “Approach the altar and sacrifice your sin offering and your burnt offering; make atonement for yourself and the people.[a](A) Sacrifice the people’s offering and make atonement for them, as the Lord commanded.”

So Aaron approached the altar and slaughtered the calf as a sin offering for himself. Aaron’s sons brought the blood to him, and he dipped his finger in the blood and applied it to the horns of the altar. He poured out the blood at the base of the altar. 10 He burned the fat, the kidneys, and the fatty lobe of the liver from the sin offering on the altar, as the Lord had commanded Moses. 11 He burned the flesh and the hide(B) outside the camp.(C)

12 Then he slaughtered the burnt offering. Aaron’s sons brought him the blood, and he splattered it on all sides of the altar. 13 They brought him the burnt offering piece by piece, along with the head, and he burned them on the altar. 14 He washed the entrails and the legs and burned them with the burnt offering on the altar.

15 Aaron presented the people’s offering. He took the male goat for the people’s sin offering, slaughtered it, and made a sin offering with it as he did before. 16 He presented the burnt offering and sacrificed it according to the regulation.(D) 17 Next he presented the grain offering, took a handful of it, and burned it on the altar in addition to the morning burnt offering.(E)

18 Finally, he slaughtered the ox and the ram as the people’s fellowship sacrifice. Aaron’s sons brought him the blood, and he splattered it on all sides of the altar. 19 They also brought the fat portions from the ox and the ram—the fat tail, the fat surrounding the entrails, the kidneys, and the fatty lobe of the liver— 20 and placed these on the breasts. Aaron burned the fat portions on the altar, 21 but he presented the breasts(F) and the right thigh as a presentation offering(G) before the Lord, as Moses had commanded.[b]

22 Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people and blessed(H) them. He came down after sacrificing the sin offering, the burnt offering, and the fellowship offering. 23 Moses and Aaron then entered the tent of meeting. When they came out, they blessed the people, and the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people. 24 Fire came from the Lord and consumed(I) the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted(J) and fell facedown.(K)

Nadab and Abihu

10 Aaron’s sons Nadab(L) and Abihu(M) each took his own firepan,(N) put fire in it, placed incense on it,(O) and presented unauthorized(P) fire before the Lord, which he had not commanded them to do. Then fire came from the Lord(Q) and consumed them, and they died before the Lord.(R) Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord has spoken:

I will demonstrate my holiness[c](S)
to those who are near me,(T)
and I will reveal my glory[d](U)
before all the people.”

And Aaron remained silent.

Moses summoned Mishael and Elzaphan,(V) sons of Aaron’s uncle Uzziel,(W) and said to them, “Come here and carry your relatives away from the front of the sanctuary to a place outside the camp.”(X) So they came forward and carried them in their tunics outside the camp, as Moses had said.

Then Moses said to Aaron and his sons Eleazar and Ithamar,(Y) “Do not let your hair hang loose(Z) and do not tear your clothes,(AA) or else you will die, and the Lord will become angry(AB) with the whole community. However, your brothers, the whole house of Israel, may weep(AC) over the fire that the Lord caused. You must not go outside the entrance to the tent of meeting or you will die, for the Lord’s anointing oil(AD) is on you.” So they did as Moses said.

Regulations for Priests

The Lord spoke to Aaron: “You and your sons are not to drink wine(AE) or beer(AF) when you enter the tent of meeting, or else you will die; this is a permanent statute(AG) throughout your generations. 10 You must distinguish(AH) between the holy and the common,(AI) and the clean and the unclean,(AJ) 11 and teach the Israelites all the statutes(AK) that the Lord has given to them through Moses.”

12 Moses spoke to Aaron and his remaining sons, Eleazar and Ithamar: “Take the grain offering that is left over from the food offerings(AL) to the Lord, and eat it prepared without yeast beside the altar, because it is especially holy. 13 You must eat it in a holy place because it is your portion[e] and your sons’ from the food offerings to the Lord, for this is what I was commanded. 14 But you and your sons and your daughters may eat the breast of the presentation offering and the thigh of the contribution in any ceremonially clean place, because these portions have been assigned to you and your children from the Israelites’ fellowship sacrifices. 15 They are to bring the thigh of the contribution and the breast of the presentation offering, together with the food offerings of the fat portions, to present as a presentation offering before the Lord. It will belong permanently(AM) to you and your children, as the Lord commanded.”

16 Then Moses inquired carefully about the male goat of the sin offering, but it had already been burned up. He was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s surviving sons, and asked, 17 “Why didn’t you eat the sin offering in the sanctuary area?(AN) For it is especially holy, and he has assigned it to you to take away the guilt(AO) of the community(AP) and make atonement for them before the Lord. 18 Since its blood was not brought inside the sanctuary, you should have eaten it in the sanctuary area, as I commanded.”(AQ)

19 But Aaron replied to Moses, “See, today they presented their sin offering and their burnt offering before the Lord. Since these things have happened to me, if I had eaten the sin offering today, would it have been acceptable in the Lord’s sight?” 20 When Moses heard this, it was acceptable to him.[f]

Mark 4:26-5:20

The Parable of the Growing Seed

26 “The kingdom of God(A) is like this,” he said. “A man scatters seed on the ground. 27 He sleeps(B) and rises(C) night(D) and day; the seed sprouts and grows, although he doesn’t know how. 28 The soil produces a crop(E) by itself—first the blade, then the head, and then the full grain(F) on the head. 29 As soon as the crop is ready, he sends for the sickle,(G) because the harvest(H) has come.”

The Parable of the Mustard Seed

30 And(I) he said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God,(J) or what parable(K) can we use to describe it? 31 It’s like a mustard seed(L) that, when sown upon the soil, is the smallest of all the seeds on the ground. 32 And when sown,(M) it comes up and grows taller than all the garden plants,(N) and produces large branches, so that the birds of the sky(O) can nest in its shade.”

Using Parables

33 He was speaking the word(P) to them with many parables(Q) like these, as they were able to understand.(R) 34 He did not speak to them without a parable. Privately, however, he explained everything to his own disciples.(S)

Wind and Waves Obey Jesus

35 On(T) that day, when evening had come, he told them, “Let’s cross over to the other side of the sea.” 36 So they left the crowd and took him along since he was in the boat. And other boats were with him. 37 A great windstorm(U) arose, and the waves(V) were breaking over the boat, so that the boat was already being swamped. 38 He was in the stern, sleeping(W) on the cushion. So they woke him up(X) and said to him, “Teacher! Don’t you care that we’re going to die?” (Y)

39 He got up, rebuked(Z) the wind, and said to the sea, “Silence!(AA) Be still!” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 Then he said to them, “Why are you afraid?(AB) Do you still have no faith?”

41 And they were terrified[a](AC) and asked one another, “Who then is this? Even the wind and the sea obey(AD) him!” (AE)

Demons Driven Out by Jesus

They(AF) came to the other side of the sea, to the region of the Gerasenes.[b] As soon as he got out of the boat, a man with an unclean(AG) spirit(AH) came out of the tombs(AI) and met him. He lived in the tombs,(AJ) and no one was able to restrain him anymore—not even with a chain(AK) because he often had been bound with shackles and chains, but had torn the chains apart and smashed(AL) the shackles. No one was strong enough to subdue(AM) him. Night(AN) and day among the tombs(AO) and on the mountains,(AP) he was always crying out and cutting himself with stones.

When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and knelt down before him. And he cried out with a loud voice, “What do you have to do with me, Jesus, Son(AQ) of the Most High God?(AR) I beg you before God, don’t torment(AS) me!” For he had told him, “Come out of the man, you unclean(AT) spirit!”(AU)

“What is your name?” he asked him.

“My name is Legion,”(AV) he answered him, “because we are many.” 10 And he begged him earnestly not to send them out of the region.

11 A large herd of pigs(AW) was there, feeding(AX) on the hillside. 12 The demons[c] begged him, “Send us to the pigs, so that we may enter them.” 13 So he gave them permission, and the unclean(AY) spirits(AZ) came out and entered the pigs. The herd of about two thousand rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned there.

14 The men who tended them ran off(BA) and reported it in the town and the countryside, and people went to see what had happened. 15 They came to Jesus and saw the man who had been demon-possessed,(BB)(BC) sitting there, dressed and in his right mind;(BD) and they were afraid.(BE) 16 Those who had seen it described to them what had happened to the demon-possessed(BF) man and told about the pigs. 17 Then they began to beg him to leave their region.

18 As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged him earnestly that he might remain with him. 19 Jesus did not let him but told him, “Go home to your own people, and report to them how much the Lord(BG) has done(BH) for you and how he has had mercy on you.” 20 So he went out and began to proclaim(BI) in the Decapolis(BJ) how much Jesus had done for him, and they were all amazed.(BK)

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for another week together in Your word, we thank You for all that You have spoken through Your word, we thank You for all the new complexions and territories we get to experience as we experience the Bible, we thank You for Your kindness and patience with us as we learn. We ask Holy Spirit, that You would come and seal everything that has come through our minds and into our hearts this week through the Scriptures, lead us on the narrow path that leads to life, lead us deeper into Jesus. We pray. Amen.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Good morning, Daily Audio Bible, it’s Julie in the UK. I did ring in last year and was so grateful for lots of prayer regarding me being in a bad place, sat in the same chair every day and crying and down. Thank you that your prayers lifted me a little bit out of that situation. I have had to leave where I was living and move back to my hometown. And then, I just desperately ask for your prayers again because I’m struggling. I’ve been here 3 months and I’ve got to find another house come April cause the land lady’s selling. And I’m so afraid, I’ve really got anxiety again. And I’m praying and I’m listening to sermons and I’m doing the Daily Audio Bible. And I can just relate to Jackie so much in Canada. She you know, feels she’s not being heard and I’m, you know, she’s not getting any better and that’s exactly how I feel. And I just ask for your prayers everybody and I thank you so much for this platform, it helps me every day, I listen to all the prayers and I pray for everybody. I just ask for your prayers again to get me out of this pit of anxiety and depression please. And I fear of taking medication because I have a fear of medication too which I know would probably help. So, thank you everybody, love you all.

Good morning, friends, Aaron from Vegas. Hope all is well. God is so good. I just want to reach out and pray for all those who are struggling in their faith, cause without faith it’s impossible to please God. And we want to please God in everything that we do and everything that we say. Father, in the name of Jesus, I want to pray for all those out there in the Campfire land, in the DAB world, Lord Father. All those that are struggling with their faith Lord, to believe in You, that You are rewarding them that diligently seek You. Lord, increase their faith. Lord, bless them and keep them. Lord, show them Your, shoe them Your hand Lord God. Show them Your mercy and Your grace. Show them who You are, make Yourself strong on their behalf Father. In the name of Jesus, they need You Lord God. They need You in these last evil days when the enemy is come in like a flood. Oh God, lift up Your standard oh God, in the name of Jesus. Oh God, close their eyes so they can see the army surrounding them Father God, the army of that You prepared to surround us on a daily basis. Lord, give them that peace that goes beyond their understanding and keep their hearts and their minds on Your son, Jesus Christ. Show them Yourself Lord, make Yourself known to them God. Hallelujah, in the name of Jesus. Lord, speak into their hearts and speak into their minds Lord, give them an encounter with You God. Give them a burning bush encounter Father God. In the name of Jesus, Lord, they need You, they can’t make it without You Lord. Those of the sick, Father God and You can heal them, Father God. Show Yourself strong again, Father God by Your stripes Lord, they are healed. Lord, heal and deliver and set free. In the powerful name of Jesus Christ, and we thank You in advance in Jesus powerful name. Amen. God bless you DABers. Have an awesome and wonderful day.

Good morning, Daily Audio Bible family. February 16, 2022, this is, I am Michael in Scottsdale, Arizona and I’m calling for prayer. This is, this is desperate hour for the city of Phoenix. There is a rise of satanic worship going on in this town and Satan desires to make this town an example for the rest of the world. They just recently had a satanic conference of how to, their teaching people how to bring their families and their children into satanic worship openly. So, Father, not on my watch, not…not long as I am here, I will fight against that evil. I will stand against it. And I’m calling on all of you to pray with me in the name of Jesus. Lift the yoke of Satan off of this town and to humble the arrogance of these…these cultic worshipers. Please pray with me, my family that this evil will not spread and grow to the point of being a beacon for evil, for other cities to follow. We are definitely living in the last days, my friends. Come, Lord Jesus, come and put an end to this evil. Thank you, Jesus’s name I pray. Amen.

Hi, I just wanted to send out a blessing to you today. Blessing on your life in the name of Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit. Blessings on your day in the name of Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Blessings on your family, blessings on your health, blessings on your job and finances. Blessings on all aspects of your life in the name of Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Be blessed, be blessed, be blessed, be blessed. Blessings on you in the name of Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Love you guys, this is Radiant Rachel have a great day, have a blessed day and I bless the Lord for you. I bless God, I bless Jesus and I bless the Holy Spirit for you. Blessings to you and for you to God the Father. In Jesus’s name. Bye now.

Leviticus 7:28-9:6

The Priests’ Share

28 The Lord said to Moses, 29 “Say to the Israelites: ‘Anyone who brings a fellowship offering to the Lord is to bring part of it as their sacrifice to the Lord. 30 With their own hands they are to present the food offering to the Lord; they are to bring the fat, together with the breast, and wave the breast before the Lord as a wave offering.(A) 31 The priest shall burn the fat on the altar,(B) but the breast belongs to Aaron and his sons.(C) 32 You are to give the right thigh of your fellowship offerings to the priest as a contribution.(D) 33 The son of Aaron who offers the blood and the fat of the fellowship offering shall have the right thigh as his share. 34 From the fellowship offerings of the Israelites, I have taken the breast that is waved and the thigh(E) that is presented and have given them to Aaron the priest and his sons(F) as their perpetual share from the Israelites.’”

35 This is the portion of the food offerings presented to the Lord that were allotted to Aaron and his sons on the day they were presented to serve the Lord as priests. 36 On the day they were anointed,(G) the Lord commanded that the Israelites give this to them as their perpetual share for the generations to come.

37 These, then, are the regulations for the burnt offering,(H) the grain offering,(I) the sin offering, the guilt offering, the ordination offering(J) and the fellowship offering, 38 which the Lord gave Moses(K) at Mount Sinai(L) in the Desert of Sinai on the day he commanded the Israelites to bring their offerings to the Lord.(M)

The Ordination of Aaron and His Sons(N)

The Lord said to Moses, “Bring Aaron and his sons,(O) their garments,(P) the anointing oil,(Q) the bull for the sin offering,[a](R) the two rams(S) and the basket containing bread made without yeast,(T) and gather the entire assembly(U) at the entrance to the tent of meeting.” Moses did as the Lord commanded him, and the assembly gathered at the entrance to the tent of meeting.

Moses said to the assembly, “This is what the Lord has commanded to be done.(V) Then Moses brought Aaron and his sons forward and washed them with water.(W) He put the tunic on Aaron, tied the sash around him, clothed him with the robe and put the ephod on him. He also fastened the ephod with a decorative waistband, which he tied around him.(X) He placed the breastpiece(Y) on him and put the Urim and Thummim(Z) in the breastpiece. Then he placed the turban(AA) on Aaron’s head and set the gold plate, the sacred emblem,(AB) on the front of it, as the Lord commanded Moses.(AC)

10 Then Moses took the anointing oil(AD) and anointed(AE) the tabernacle(AF) and everything in it, and so consecrated them. 11 He sprinkled some of the oil on the altar seven times, anointing the altar and all its utensils and the basin with its stand, to consecrate them.(AG) 12 He poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed(AH) him to consecrate him.(AI) 13 Then he brought Aaron’s sons(AJ) forward, put tunics(AK) on them, tied sashes around them and fastened caps on them, as the Lord commanded Moses.(AL)

14 He then presented the bull(AM) for the sin offering,(AN) and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.(AO) 15 Moses slaughtered the bull and took some of the blood,(AP) and with his finger he put it on all the horns of the altar(AQ) to purify the altar.(AR) He poured out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar. So he consecrated it to make atonement for it.(AS) 16 Moses also took all the fat around the internal organs, the long lobe of the liver, and both kidneys and their fat, and burned it on the altar. 17 But the bull with its hide and its flesh and its intestines(AT) he burned up outside the camp,(AU) as the Lord commanded Moses.

18 He then presented the ram(AV) for the burnt offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head. 19 Then Moses slaughtered the ram and splashed the blood against the sides of the altar. 20 He cut the ram into pieces and burned the head, the pieces and the fat.(AW) 21 He washed the internal organs and the legs with water and burned the whole ram on the altar. It was a burnt offering, a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the Lord, as the Lord commanded Moses.

22 He then presented the other ram, the ram for the ordination,(AX) and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.(AY) 23 Moses slaughtered the ram and took some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron’s right ear, on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot.(AZ) 24 Moses also brought Aaron’s sons forward and put some of the blood on the lobes of their right ears, on the thumbs of their right hands and on the big toes of their right feet. Then he splashed blood against the sides of the altar.(BA) 25 After that, he took the fat(BB), the fat tail, all the fat around the internal organs, the long lobe of the liver, both kidneys and their fat and the right thigh. 26 And from the basket of bread made without yeast, which was before the Lord, he took one thick loaf, one thick loaf with olive oil mixed in, and one thin loaf,(BC) and he put these on the fat portions and on the right thigh. 27 He put all these in the hands of Aaron and his sons, and they waved them before the Lord(BD) as a wave offering. 28 Then Moses took them from their hands and burned them on the altar on top of the burnt offering as an ordination offering, a pleasing aroma, a food offering presented to the Lord. 29 Moses also took the breast, which was his share of the ordination ram,(BE) and waved it before the Lord as a wave offering, as the Lord commanded Moses.

30 Then Moses(BF) took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood from the altar and sprinkled them on Aaron and his garments(BG) and on his sons and their garments. So he consecrated(BH) Aaron and his garments and his sons and their garments.

31 Moses then said to Aaron and his sons, “Cook the meat at the entrance to the tent of meeting(BI) and eat it there with the bread from the basket of ordination offerings, as I was commanded: ‘Aaron and his sons are to eat it.’ 32 Then burn up the rest of the meat and the bread. 33 Do not leave the entrance to the tent of meeting for seven days, until the days of your ordination are completed, for your ordination will last seven days.(BJ) 34 What has been done today was commanded by the Lord(BK) to make atonement for you. 35 You must stay at the entrance to the tent of meeting day and night for seven days and do what the Lord requires,(BL) so you will not die; for that is what I have been commanded.”

36 So Aaron and his sons did everything the Lord commanded through Moses.

The Priests Begin Their Ministry

On the eighth day(BM) Moses summoned Aaron and his sons and the elders(BN) of Israel. He said to Aaron, “Take a bull calf for your sin offering[b] and a ram for your burnt offering, both without defect, and present them before the Lord. Then say to the Israelites: ‘Take a male goat(BO) for a sin offering,(BP) a calf(BQ) and a lamb(BR)—both a year old and without defect—for a burnt offering, and an ox[c](BS) and a ram for a fellowship offering(BT) to sacrifice before the Lord, together with a grain offering mixed with olive oil. For today the Lord will appear to you.(BU)’”

They took the things Moses commanded to the front of the tent of meeting, and the entire assembly came near and stood before the Lord. Then Moses said, “This is what the Lord has commanded you to do, so that the glory of the Lord(BV) may appear to you.”

Mark 3:31-4:25

31 Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived.(A) Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him. 32 A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, “Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.”

33 “Who are my mother and my brothers?” he asked.

34 Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 35 Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”

The Parable of the Sower(B)(C)

Again Jesus began to teach by the lake.(D) The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water’s edge. He taught them many things by parables,(E) and in his teaching said: “Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed.(F) As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.”(G)

Then Jesus said, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”(H)

10 When he was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables. 11 He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God(I) has been given to you. But to those on the outside(J) everything is said in parables 12 so that,

“‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving,
and ever hearing but never understanding;
otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!’[a](K)

13 Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable? 14 The farmer sows the word.(L) 15 Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan(M) comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. 16 Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. 17 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 18 Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; 19 but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth(N) and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. 20 Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.”

A Lamp on a Stand

21 He said to them, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand?(O) 22 For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open.(P) 23 If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.”(Q)

24 “Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more.(R) 25 Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.”(S)

Leviticus 6:1-7:27, Mark 3:7-30, Psalms 37:1-11, Proverbs 10:3-4

Today is the 18th day of February, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it’s great to be here with you today as we take the next step forward together. At this point we are working through the third book of the Torah or the Pentateuch, the book of Leviticus and we are sort of watching God reveal the law to Moses. The law, the Mosaic law would establish and govern the society or the culture or the people of God who had come out of slavery. Their identity was that of a slave. Their culture was that of the slave. Their understandings were that…those of slaves. God is creating a new people out of these former slaves and setting in place the rules and customs and holidays and rituals and laws that they are to obey. And, so, let’s take the next step. We’re reading from the New International Version this week. Leviticus chapter 6 verse 1 through seven 27.

Commentary:

Okay. Let’s talk for a minute about blasphemy. That word or that action, that sin is not something that is in the modern vernacular. Like we don’t really hear discussion about blasphemy all that often unless we’re talking about it out of the Scriptures. And yet within the Scriptures it’s all over the place. It is what Jesus is accused of, and ultimately what He’s found guilty of. It is also what Jesus is saying that the religious leaders are doing. So, is it just like he said she said? What are we talking about here? To blaspheme is to elevate someone or something to the place of the most high God. And as we know from history, both Old and New Testament many gods were worshiped. Like idolatry is something that we see a lot in the Old Testament, that giving your heart in worship to something that’s not real, but that is elevating that thing, putting your belief and hope and faith into that thing, and elevating it to the place of God in your life. And, so, the religious leaders accused Jesus of blasphemy because He elevated himself to the place of God blasphemy because they did not believe that He was God incarnate, or God made flesh or the human God. And, so, for anyone to make that claim about Jesus to their way of thinking and interpretation this is straight up textbook blasphemy. So, even though they were incorrect in their judgment this is what they were accusing Jesus of. Jesus in their view, was a man not a God and not a God made flesh, but how are they blaspheming? So, let me read just a couple of verses from our reading today. “Then Jesus entered a house and again a crowd gathered so that He and His disciples were not even able to eat. When his family heard about this thing want to take charge of Him, for they said He is out of His mind and the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said He is possessed by Beelzebul, by the prince of demons He is driving out demons.” Jesus responds so that basically saying, “that doesn’t make any sense”, right? Like, “why would the devil throw out the devil? How can Satan drive out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand. His end has come. In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up then he can plunder the strong man’s house. Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. They are guilty of an eternal sin.” He said this because they were saying He has an impure spirit. So, what the religious leaders who had come down from Jerusalem…we’re talking about the cream of the crop. We’re talking about powerful and educated Pharisees, Sadducees, scribes and those with religious authority. They see what Jesus is doing and they say He is possessed by Beelzebul. So, they are essentially saying that God made flash is possessed by the devil and it is the devil giving God made flash the power to do these signs and wonders. They are crediting the devil for what God is doing and they are calling God made flesh, Jesus, of the devil elevating the devil to the place of God. That is blasphemy. So, if we understand that then all of the sudden the gospel of Mark is becoming a mirror. What was happening with religious authorities saying Jesus is getting his power from Beelzebul, etc., etc., is that they’re seeing something that they do not understand. It is outside of their interpretations, and they think Jesus is a fraud. And, so, even though the work of God is accompanying Jesus everywhere he goes where else would the work of God be besides with God? So, even though Jesus is doing the work of God they don’t understand it, they don’t have a grid for it and so they label it of the devil. The mirror is that we do that too. If something is happening, the work of God, but it is outside of our framework, we don’t have an interpretation for it or a grid for it. It looks different than we think it should look. Then often we can find ourselves, whether we say it out loud or we think it in our hearts, of the devil. We should be supremely cautious about that because crediting the devil for something that God is doing, even if we don’t understand it is blasphemy. And we could say, “well…you know…there’s no way God could be involved in X, Y, and Z. There's…He just doesn’t do things that way.” That is exactly what the religious authorities in the time of Jesus thought. So, before we start labeling things, we may need to push pause and take a step backward and seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit before we step into that territory because it doesn’t lead anywhere good. And, so, that’s worth giving some consideration to. It’s worth observing ourselves. It’s worth just thinking of what triggers us and why we begin to say the things that we do. If the Bible shows us anything, it’s God is all mighty and all powerful and He doesn’t really care about doing things according to the formulas that we create for Him. And He doesn’t really care about living in the boxes that we craft for Him. God is God. God is good. God is love. God will do what God will do. And whatever God does is right regardless of what label we put on it. And, so, let’s give it some thought.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit we can think all we want and maybe we can kind of catch ourselves in these kinds of postures but to truly get to the root of anything we need Your help. We can’t do this on her own. We’ve tried plenty to do all kinds of things in our own strength and by our own power and we are not capable. And we may be able to keep the plate spinning for a while, but we crash. We cannot survive without You. And when You are at work in our lives or You are or work in the world or around us in ways that we may or may not understand, and so we just listen to whatever the crowd is saying then we need to think that the crowd said to crucify Him. We need Your Holy Spirit to guide us and to help us keep our mouths closed until we understand what You are doing. We choose so many battles against each other that are not our battles. Help us Holy Spirit. We are so lost without You. And we are so lost when we are not paying attention to You. But we’re paying attention now. And, so, come. Lead us into all truth we pray and ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Hey DAB family this is your sister Ashley from California and I want to come on here first and foremost and say thank You God for the goodness that comes through this app. Every day I am able to wake up and I have psalms to turn to, to have songs to sing. I have proverbs. The wisdom of the Lord is just poured out into my heart into my mind. And then I have the DAB and I get the chance to listen to that. And not only that I’ve been also able to invite my son into listening to the New Testament to develop the foundation of his faith with Ezekiel. So, Lord I just want to thank You so much for this app and for leading me here. Brian, Jill, Ezekiel, China, the whole Hardin family, thank you. Thank you for your faithfulness in the small things and being obedient and thank you for that. I’m coming on here to cry out for your help DAB family. My grandmommy Jody was just diagnosed with acute mass leukemia and she started chemo yesterday, Valentine’s Day and she’s having a reaction. We don’t have a lot of answers right now but last year diabi family when I called in and asked you for prayer and for help because I was scared about my dad you met me and you reached out and guys my dad is still doing the cha cha with his recovery but he is on the mend and I need you all to join me in prayer for my grandmommy Jody. So, I love DAB family. Bye.

Hi DAB family this is Cami I’m from Southern Oregon I’m a new listener and a first-time caller. I’ve been listening to all the prayer requests and often find myself so moved because I can relate to them. But I really wanted to reach out and pray for Daughter of Honor. I’m already getting emotional, but I related to so much of your prayer request. I have gone through miscarriage and stillbirths, and it really rocked my relationship with God for a while trying to come to terms with bad things happening. It sounds like you’ve had your fair share of trials lately with parents passing away and your mom having Alzheimer’s and…and on top of that that struggle with wanting another child so badly. And I just wanted to pray that Lord please give her family strength and peace and help them get through all of these hard times. It’s so hard to see the light sometimes when we are just beat down with everything going on in life. And I pray that You would bless them with a child that they so desperately want and would love so wonderfully. Lord above all let Your will be done but please bless these beautiful people who have been going through so much. In Your precious name we pray Lord. Amen.

Amen.

Hey everyone, this is Casey from Missouri and I’m currently 17 weeks pregnant. A few weeks ago, I had a blood test done which was a genetic screening and it came back positive for trisomy 13. I have two other kids, ones 6 and ones 2 and on Wednesday the 22nd is when I’m going to go in for a MEO test which we’ll tell me for sure whether the baby has trisomy 13 or not which I’m trying to stay calm and stay positive for my older kids but this is a very trying time and I could use all the prayers as possible all the prayers that I can get. Thank you all and have a good day.

Hello Daily Audio Bible family this is Ben from Minnesota. I’ve been a listener for about 2-½ years and I’m very grateful for…for the Daily Audio Bible. It makes a big difference and it’s like being served good food every day and you always know it’s gonna be good. You always know it’s gonna be there and you don’t have to think about it but it’s always delicious. So, thank you. Say it, my wife Sarah and I are traveling to Liberia in Africa to adopt A little boy and we leave tomorrow, which is January 7th…no February 17th. So, please pray for us as we go. We expect to be there three to four weeks. This process has been a long journey for us. It started in 2015 and lots of bumps along the way but we are excited and grateful and just really thankful to God for carrying us through this time and also the wonderful community of support that has walked with us. But just wanted to throw that out there for you all. And again, thank you to Brian and the family for all that you do and thank you to all of you who lift each other up in prayer. Blessings. All the best.

The Daily Audio Bible Reading for Friday February 18, 2022 (NIV)

Leviticus 6:1-7:27

[a]The Lord said to Moses: “If anyone sins and is unfaithful to the Lord(A) by deceiving a neighbor(B) about something entrusted to them or left in their care(C) or about something stolen, or if they cheat(D) their neighbor, or if they find lost property and lie about it,(E) or if they swear falsely(F) about any such sin that people may commit— when they sin in any of these ways and realize their guilt, they must return(G) what they have stolen or taken by extortion, or what was entrusted to them, or the lost property they found, or whatever it was they swore falsely about. They must make restitution(H) in full, add a fifth of the value to it and give it all to the owner on the day they present their guilt offering.(I) And as a penalty they must bring to the priest, that is, to the Lord, their guilt offering,(J) a ram from the flock, one without defect and of the proper value.(K) In this way the priest will make atonement(L) for them before the Lord, and they will be forgiven for any of the things they did that made them guilty.”

The Burnt Offering

The Lord said to Moses: “Give Aaron and his sons this command: ‘These are the regulations for the burnt offering(M): The burnt offering is to remain on the altar hearth throughout the night, till morning, and the fire must be kept burning on the altar.(N) 10 The priest shall then put on his linen clothes,(O) with linen undergarments next to his body,(P) and shall remove the ashes(Q) of the burnt offering that the fire has consumed on the altar and place them beside the altar. 11 Then he is to take off these clothes and put on others, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a place that is ceremonially clean.(R) 12 The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out. Every morning the priest is to add firewood(S) and arrange the burnt offering on the fire and burn the fat(T) of the fellowship offerings(U) on it. 13 The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out.

The Grain Offering

14 “‘These are the regulations for the grain offering:(V) Aaron’s sons are to bring it before the Lord, in front of the altar. 15 The priest is to take a handful of the finest flour and some olive oil, together with all the incense(W) on the grain offering,(X) and burn the memorial[b] portion(Y) on the altar as an aroma pleasing to the Lord. 16 Aaron and his sons(Z) shall eat the rest(AA) of it, but it is to be eaten without yeast(AB) in the sanctuary area;(AC) they are to eat it in the courtyard(AD) of the tent of meeting.(AE) 17 It must not be baked with yeast; I have given it as their share(AF) of the food offerings presented to me.(AG) Like the sin offering[c] and the guilt offering, it is most holy.(AH) 18 Any male descendant of Aaron may eat it.(AI) For all generations to come(AJ) it is his perpetual share(AK) of the food offerings presented to the Lord. Whatever touches them will become holy.[d](AL)’”

19 The Lord also said to Moses, 20 “This is the offering Aaron and his sons are to bring to the Lord on the day he[e] is anointed:(AM) a tenth of an ephah[f](AN) of the finest flour(AO) as a regular grain offering,(AP) half of it in the morning and half in the evening. 21 It must be prepared with oil on a griddle;(AQ) bring it well-mixed and present the grain offering broken[g] in pieces as an aroma pleasing to the Lord. 22 The son who is to succeed him as anointed priest(AR) shall prepare it. It is the Lord’s perpetual share and is to be burned completely.(AS) 23 Every grain offering of a priest shall be burned completely; it must not be eaten.”

The Sin Offering

24 The Lord said to Moses, 25 “Say to Aaron and his sons: ‘These are the regulations for the sin offering:(AT) The sin offering is to be slaughtered before the Lord(AU) in the place(AV) the burnt offering is slaughtered; it is most holy. 26 The priest who offers it shall eat it; it is to be eaten in the sanctuary area,(AW) in the courtyard(AX) of the tent of meeting.(AY) 27 Whatever touches any of the flesh will become holy,(AZ) and if any of the blood is spattered on a garment, you must wash it in the sanctuary area. 28 The clay pot(BA) the meat is cooked in must be broken; but if it is cooked in a bronze pot, the pot is to be scoured and rinsed with water. 29 Any male in a priest’s family may eat it;(BB) it is most holy.(BC) 30 But any sin offering whose blood is brought into the tent of meeting to make atonement(BD) in the Holy Place(BE) must not be eaten; it must be burned up.(BF)

The Guilt Offering

“‘These are the regulations for the guilt offering,(BG) which is most holy: The guilt offering is to be slaughtered in the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered, and its blood is to be splashed against the sides of the altar. All its fat(BH) shall be offered: the fat tail and the fat that covers the internal organs, both kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the long lobe of the liver, which is to be removed with the kidneys.(BI) The priest shall burn them on the altar(BJ) as a food offering presented to the Lord. It is a guilt offering. Any male in a priest’s family may eat it,(BK) but it must be eaten in the sanctuary area; it is most holy.(BL)

“‘The same law applies to both the sin offering[h](BM) and the guilt offering:(BN) They belong to the priest(BO) who makes atonement with them.(BP) The priest who offers a burnt offering for anyone may keep its hide(BQ) for himself. Every grain offering baked in an oven(BR) or cooked in a pan(BS) or on a griddle(BT) belongs to the priest who offers it, 10 and every grain offering, whether mixed with olive oil or dry, belongs equally to all the sons of Aaron.

The Fellowship Offering

11 “‘These are the regulations for the fellowship offering anyone may present to the Lord:

12 “‘If they offer it as an expression of thankfulness, then along with this thank offering(BU) they are to offer thick loaves(BV) made without yeast(BW) and with olive oil mixed in, thin loaves(BX) made without yeast and brushed with oil,(BY) and thick loaves of the finest flour well-kneaded and with oil mixed in. 13 Along with their fellowship offering of thanksgiving(BZ) they are to present an offering with thick loaves of bread made with yeast.(CA) 14 They are to bring one of each kind as an offering, a contribution to the Lord; it belongs to the priest who splashes the blood of the fellowship offering against the altar. 15 The meat of their fellowship offering of thanksgiving must be eaten on the day it is offered; they must leave none of it till morning.(CB)

16 “‘If, however, their offering is the result of a vow(CC) or is a freewill offering,(CD) the sacrifice shall be eaten on the day they offer it, but anything left over may be eaten on the next day.(CE) 17 Any meat of the sacrifice left over till the third day must be burned up.(CF) 18 If any meat of the fellowship offering(CG) is eaten on the third day, the one who offered it will not be accepted.(CH) It will not be reckoned(CI) to their credit, for it has become impure; the person who eats any of it will be held responsible.(CJ)

19 “‘Meat that touches anything ceremonially unclean must not be eaten; it must be burned up. As for other meat, anyone ceremonially clean may eat it. 20 But if anyone who is unclean(CK) eats any meat of the fellowship offering belonging to the Lord, they must be cut off from their people.(CL) 21 Anyone who touches something unclean(CM)—whether human uncleanness or an unclean animal or any unclean creature that moves along the ground[i]—and then eats any of the meat of the fellowship offering belonging to the Lord must be cut off from their people.’”

Eating Fat and Blood Forbidden

22 The Lord said to Moses, 23 “Say to the Israelites: ‘Do not eat any of the fat of cattle, sheep or goats.(CN) 24 The fat of an animal found dead or torn by wild animals(CO) may be used for any other purpose, but you must not eat it. 25 Anyone who eats the fat of an animal from which a food offering may be[j] presented to the Lord must be cut off from their people. 26 And wherever you live, you must not eat the blood(CP) of any bird or animal. 27 Anyone who eats blood(CQ) must be cut off from their people.’”

Mark 3:7-30

Crowds Follow Jesus(A)

Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the lake, and a large crowd from Galilee followed.(B) When they heard about all he was doing, many people came to him from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, and the regions across the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon.(C) Because of the crowd he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, to keep the people from crowding him. 10 For he had healed many,(D) so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him.(E) 11 Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.”(F) 12 But he gave them strict orders not to tell others about him.(G)

Jesus Appoints the Twelve(H)

13 Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him.(I) 14 He appointed twelve[a](J) that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach 15 and to have authority to drive out demons.(K) 16 These are the twelve he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter),(L) 17 James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means “sons of thunder”), 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot 19 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

Jesus Accused by His Family and by Teachers of the Law(M)(N)

20 Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered,(O) so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat.(P) 21 When his family[b] heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”(Q)

22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem(R) said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul!(S) By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.”(T)

23 So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables:(U) “How can Satan(V) drive out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. 27 In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house.(W) 28 Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”(X)

30 He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.”

Psalm 37[a]

Of David.

Do not fret because of those who are evil
or be envious(A) of those who do wrong;(B)
for like the grass they will soon wither,(C)

dwell in the land(E) and enjoy safe pasture.(F)
Take delight(G) in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.(H)

Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him(I) and he will do this:
He will make your righteous reward(J) shine like the dawn,(K)
your vindication like the noonday sun.

Be still(L) before the Lord
and wait patiently(M) for him;
do not fret(N) when people succeed in their ways,(O)

Leviticus 4:1-5:19, Mark 2:13-3:6, Psalm 36:1-12, Proverbs 10:1-2

Today is the 17th day of February, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian and it is awesome to be here with you today as we continue this journey of a lifetime, across a year through the Bible, deeper into one another’s lives, growing roots, together through our experience in the Bible. And so, let’s take that next step forward. We’re reading from the New International Version this week. Today, Leviticus chapters 4 and 5.

Commentary:

Okay so, in the book of Leviticus we are learning about the different sacrifices for different things and one of the primary things is the sin offering. And we can watch these instructions, they are very detailed on how to do what needs to be done and we can look at it as antiquated or barbaric or old or bloody, or any of the things and we could go like, is God just power-hungry here, like He just wants all these animals to be slaughtered and burned and sacrificed to Him because He likes that stuff. Let’s pause, take a step back so, that we can see what He wants. If there is no sin, there is no need for sacrifice. What God wants is no sin because sin separates us from God. The sin offering is for the one who has sinned and anyone going through this process because it’s tedious and it would take a bunch of time and you would actually have to go out to your flock and choose the smallest one. So, in every way, this act, tedious though it may be, time-consuming though it may be, is a continual reminder of what sin does. Because in this brand-new culture being formed in the wilderness, God wants them to be holy because He is holy. So, there is no way to depend on the fact that they could become sinless in their own strength. There was going to be sin. Sin continues to exist in this world today, but that is indeed what makes the good news of the gospel so important to us, with Christ being the final sacrifice in the sacrificial system, through Christ, we can become sinless because He covers us. Sin is no longer held against us. We can confess it, we do not have to sacrifice for it, but as we watch these things unfold in Leviticus and throughout the rest of the story, especially here in the law where we’re watching all of the things that are gonna shape them, we should begin to see or realize that everything that is being woven into the tapestry of this newly emerging culture, is pointing them to God. Their source of life and warning them against things that will destroy that bond or covenant or break that covenant. The Bible tells us that sin leads us to destruction and to death, that is what God does not want and God paid a price, very dear, to rescue us from it. And as an example, from the Scriptures about how off, how upside down, how backward things can get, we only need to look at what we read today from the gospel of Mark. Jesus is healing on the Sabbath day. That’s against the rules, the rules as they had interpreted the rules. Jesus asked the question, is it lawful, like what’s lawful on the Sabbath, to do good or to do evil, to save a life or to kill? They didn’t answer that question, Jesus heals this man and as it is told in the gospel of Mark, once the man was healed and restored, they went out and began to plot how they might kill Jesus. So, in response to God restoring a person, because he did not interpret the law the way that they had customarily interpreted it and we know that from the gospel of Mark because Jesus said the Sabbath was made for man, not the man for Sabbath, so the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath. They rejected all of this, the signs, the wonders, the explanation, or revelation and plotted how they might kill Jesus. I think we could agree that that’s really twisted, sin can twist you to the degree that you can’t even see what God is doing right in front of your face, sin is not only working against God in your life it’s working against God period. And what is the mission of God, if we could call it that, it is to restore you and sin can’t be a part of that restorative process. So, when we watch these sacrifices being implemented and kind of laid down in writing because we are reading the rules right, the laws and the laws aren’t always riveting narrative stories, they’re laws and rules and how to obey them. But God isn’t thirsty for animal blood. If He’s thirsty, it’s for righteousness, it’s for holiness because this is freedom. So, let’s remember that as we continue our journey.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You, we thank You for all of the Scriptures and all of the stories and all of the way that things have unfolded. But at the center of it all, there is this willingness inside of our hearts to rebel against what we know is right and this is sin and it, it is only going to one place, that is demonstrated over and over in the Scriptures. But what is also demonstrated over and over in the Scriptures is that You will not surrender us, You come for us, You rescue us and then You remind us that separation from You is something we want to have nothing to do with. And so, although we may not have to sacrifice an animal as a reminder all of the time, sin still does what sin does. Thankfully so does the sacrifice of Jesus. And so, may we walk in our freedom as you lead us by the power of Your Holy Spirit into freedom, onto the narrow path that leads to life. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Heavenly Father, Lord God, I want to thank You so much for Your love, You grace, and Your mercy. You are a God that does exceedingly, abundantly above all that any of us could ask or think. And Father, we just want to thank You, praise You, magnify Your name, worship You, for You are Holy. Thank You for Jesus, thank You for Your son and Jesus, for Your willingness to come. Thank You so much for doing more than we could ever imagine, giving us access to eternal life. Oh Father, thank You for Your son and Your Holy Spirit. Dear God, that you would anoint each of us with Your Spirit, that You would impower us through Your word that we hear, that we read, through the presence of Your Holy Spirit, transforming us. Empowering us to let go of those things that are not of You. And to embrace those things that You want to have us do in our lives. Breaking those bonds and embracing those truths of Your victory, Your freedom, Your deliverance. Dear God, whatever the needs are of those who are hearing this prayer, family, finances, emotional, relational, professional God, spiritual. Dear Father, I praise You, that You are everywhere present at the same time and that You know us, deeply, intimately because You are our creator. Thank You for answering our prayers. Amen.

Hello, Daily Audio Bible family. This is Patrick from Malta, I’m here with my wife Maria. I was tracking when we started listening, it was actually 2007 but we’ve been kind of on and off and have just come back to it at the beginning of this year, the 1st of January. I remember back then, writing to Brian to tell you how I felt you really nurture a community of love, even just by telling people you love them. And I can see how that’s just spread and grown. For anyone back there in 2009, I was writing to you to tell you my thoughts on how the community had grown and what a blessing it was and it’s grown even bigger and stronger. And I just really love the community work that you’re doing. And I love the fact that there’s a genuine community of people that love one another, care for each other, pray for one another. And we listen to those prayers and they’re as much a blessing to hear those as it is to hear the scriptures. And I just want to say, my wife Maria wants to say something. Well, today’s Valentine’s Day, right, 14th of February. And we don’t really celebrate it, do we? But I just want to ask the Lord to fill your heart with his love today afresh. May we, as we continue through the scriptures this year, as we continue in community, just know the love of God. Yes, that’s my prayer. And for all those prayers I hear so many broken people and suffering, there’s a richness in the suffering. And I just pray the Lord is with you in that suffering and comfort you with His love and come through and answer you. We love you all and bye from Malta. Bye.

Hello family, this is KD out of Atlanta. I’m calling in to give a praise report and an update and to say thank you for everyone who prayed for me. I went to the do doctor the other day and I did acupuncture so; it did help out with the pelvic issues and I’m feeling better. It’s only been a day or so but I’m feeling better. Also, for those who prayed for me back, I think it was around Christmas time or slightly before Christmas, when I prayed for my business to do better. So, it’s slowly picking up. It’s picking up but I just wanted to give everybody that update and to thank them for the prayers on that. And also, just to say that while I was going through all that I had, I’ve just been doing some self-evaluating and I kinda learned a lesson in this and it’s everything that I’m going through. My business is doing very bad, it’s a staffing company, people weren’t working or whatever. So, I was just trying to make it happen, you know, trying to. And what it taught me was that I just got to trust God. God is my source, not my business, not any of that, not the amount of people I have or anything, God is my source. And I have to trust and believe that He will do what He has always done. He has never failed me. He has always provided. He has always made sure that my family had so, I’ve heard in the community prayer a lot of people who are going through things and stuff. Trust and believe that God will see you through. ___ on His word. It is just so…

This is Candance from Oregon and I just have to say that I’m really grateful to the DABer who often tells us, the God who is able to save you and me will be able to save our children. I just love that, that’s really a bit of encouragement to me. My son, is finally, it looks like, this very moment as I speak, getting himself ready, talking to HR where he works so that he can put himself into drug and alcohol treatment. And you know, this will be where he can’t work. It’ll be from 7am to 7pm every day for at least two weeks. So please pray with me. Lord, I pray for Micah. Thank You that he has arrived at this decision and I pray that the hold that alcohol has had on him for over a decade, would now be cast into the pit of hell, along with all of its lies and destruction. And that what Micah will come into life that’s truly life and be done with this. I pray that he will find the natural high of being outside in the sunshine and going on hikes and enjoying friendships and all that life is meant to be, that You have given us Lord. Rather than the lies that alcohol has told him all this time. I pray that he’ll be involved in his community, in his church and most of all Lord, moment-by-moment with You. And I ask this in Jesus’ name.

Hey guys, it’s Val in Vegas. Today’s my birthday, it’s February 15th and I’m not feeling that great. I want to pray right now for everyone that is suffering from COVID or any upper respiratory issue. We need You Father. God, just one breath from You can heal our lungs, Lord. Father, we love You. I pray for healing for everyone listening to this Lord and a special prayer for upper respiratory issues, Lord. There’s nothing like not being able to breath Lord. Blow Your breath on us Father and heal our bodies Lord, like only You can God. Father, ___53rd chapter of life. The greatest thing about it is I’m taking you with me. I know that you’ll never leave me or forsake me. Heal my body, Lord and everyone listening Father God. In your precious and mighty name. We love You Jesus. Amen.

Leviticus 4-5

The Sin Offering

The Lord said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites: ‘When anyone sins unintentionally(A) and does what is forbidden in any of the Lord’s commands(B)

“‘If the anointed priest(C) sins,(D) bringing guilt on the people, he must bring to the Lord a young bull(E) without defect(F) as a sin offering[a](G) for the sin he has committed.(H) He is to present the bull at the entrance to the tent of meeting before the Lord.(I) He is to lay his hand on its head and slaughter it there before the Lord. Then the anointed priest shall take some of the bull’s blood(J) and carry it into the tent of meeting. He is to dip his finger into the blood and sprinkle(K) some of it seven times before the Lord,(L) in front of the curtain of the sanctuary.(M) The priest shall then put some of the blood on the horns(N) of the altar of fragrant incense that is before the Lord in the tent of meeting. The rest of the bull’s blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar(O) of burnt offering(P) at the entrance to the tent of meeting. He shall remove all the fat(Q) from the bull of the sin offering—all the fat that is connected to the internal organs, both kidneys with the fat on them near the loins, and the long lobe of the liver, which he will remove with the kidneys(R) 10 just as the fat is removed from the ox[b](S) sacrificed as a fellowship offering.(T) Then the priest shall burn them on the altar of burnt offering.(U) 11 But the hide of the bull and all its flesh, as well as the head and legs, the internal organs and the intestines(V) 12 that is, all the rest of the bull—he must take outside the camp(W) to a place ceremonially clean,(X) where the ashes(Y) are thrown, and burn it(Z) there in a wood fire on the ash heap.(AA)

13 “‘If the whole Israelite community sins unintentionally(AB) and does what is forbidden in any of the Lord’s commands, even though the community is unaware of the matter, when they realize their guilt 14 and the sin they committed becomes known, the assembly must bring a young bull(AC) as a sin offering(AD) and present it before the tent of meeting. 15 The elders(AE) of the community are to lay their hands(AF) on the bull’s head(AG) before the Lord, and the bull shall be slaughtered before the Lord.(AH) 16 Then the anointed priest is to take some of the bull’s blood(AI) into the tent of meeting. 17 He shall dip his finger into the blood and sprinkle(AJ) it before the Lord(AK) seven times in front of the curtain. 18 He is to put some of the blood(AL) on the horns of the altar that is before the Lord(AM) in the tent of meeting. The rest of the blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar(AN) of burnt offering at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 19 He shall remove all the fat(AO) from it and burn it on the altar,(AP) 20 and do with this bull just as he did with the bull for the sin offering. In this way the priest will make atonement(AQ) for the community, and they will be forgiven.(AR) 21 Then he shall take the bull outside the camp(AS) and burn it as he burned the first bull. This is the sin offering for the community.(AT)

22 “‘When a leader(AU) sins unintentionally(AV) and does what is forbidden in any of the commands of the Lord his God, when he realizes his guilt 23 and the sin he has committed becomes known, he must bring as his offering a male goat(AW) without defect. 24 He is to lay his hand on the goat’s head and slaughter it at the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered before the Lord.(AX) It is a sin offering.(AY) 25 Then the priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar(AZ) of burnt offering and pour out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar.(BA) 26 He shall burn all the fat on the altar as he burned the fat of the fellowship offering. In this way the priest will make atonement(BB) for the leader’s sin, and he will be forgiven.(BC)

27 “‘If any member of the community sins unintentionally(BD) and does what is forbidden in any of the Lord’s commands, when they realize their guilt 28 and the sin they have committed becomes known, they must bring as their offering(BE) for the sin they committed a female goat(BF) without defect. 29 They are to lay their hand on the head(BG) of the sin offering(BH) and slaughter it at the place of the burnt offering.(BI) 30 Then the priest is to take some of the blood with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering(BJ) and pour out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar. 31 They shall remove all the fat, just as the fat is removed from the fellowship offering, and the priest shall burn it on the altar(BK) as an aroma pleasing to the Lord.(BL) In this way the priest will make atonement(BM) for them, and they will be forgiven.(BN)

32 “‘If someone brings a lamb(BO) as their sin offering, they are to bring a female without defect.(BP) 33 They are to lay their hand on its head and slaughter it(BQ) for a sin offering(BR) at the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered.(BS) 34 Then the priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering and pour out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar.(BT) 35 They shall remove all the fat, just as the fat is removed from the lamb of the fellowship offering, and the priest shall burn it on the altar(BU) on top of the food offerings presented to the Lord. In this way the priest will make atonement for them for the sin they have committed, and they will be forgiven.

“‘If anyone sins because they do not speak up when they hear a public charge to testify(BV) regarding something they have seen or learned about, they will be held responsible.(BW)

“‘If anyone becomes aware that they are guilty—if they unwittingly touch anything ceremonially unclean (whether the carcass of an unclean animal, wild or domestic, or of any unclean creature that moves along the ground)(BX) and they are unaware that they have become unclean,(BY) but then they come to realize their guilt; or if they touch human uncleanness(BZ) (anything that would make them unclean)(CA) even though they are unaware of it, but then they learn of it and realize their guilt; or if anyone thoughtlessly takes an oath(CB) to do anything, whether good or evil(CC) (in any matter one might carelessly swear about) even though they are unaware of it, but then they learn of it and realize their guilt— when anyone becomes aware that they are guilty in any of these matters, they must confess(CD) in what way they have sinned. As a penalty for the sin they have committed, they must bring to the Lord a female lamb or goat(CE) from the flock as a sin offering[c];(CF) and the priest shall make atonement(CG) for them for their sin.

“‘Anyone who cannot afford(CH) a lamb(CI) is to bring two doves or two young pigeons(CJ) to the Lord as a penalty for their sin—one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. They are to bring them to the priest, who shall first offer the one for the sin offering. He is to wring its head from its neck,(CK) not dividing it completely,(CL) and is to splash(CM) some of the blood of the sin offering against the side of the altar;(CN) the rest of the blood must be drained out at the base of the altar.(CO) It is a sin offering. 10 The priest shall then offer the other as a burnt offering in the prescribed way(CP) and make atonement(CQ) for them for the sin they have committed, and they will be forgiven.(CR)

11 “‘If, however, they cannot afford(CS) two doves or two young pigeons,(CT) they are to bring as an offering for their sin a tenth of an ephah[d](CU) of the finest flour(CV) for a sin offering. They must not put olive oil or incense on it, because it is a sin offering. 12 They are to bring it to the priest, who shall take a handful of it as a memorial[e] portion(CW) and burn it on the altar(CX) on top of the food offerings presented to the Lord. It is a sin offering. 13 In this way the priest will make atonement(CY) for them for any of these sins they have committed, and they will be forgiven. The rest of the offering will belong to the priest,(CZ) as in the case of the grain offering.(DA)’”

The Guilt Offering

14 The Lord said to Moses: 15 “When anyone is unfaithful to the Lord by sinning unintentionally(DB) in regard to any of the Lord’s holy things, they are to bring to the Lord as a penalty(DC) a ram(DD) from the flock, one without defect and of the proper value in silver, according to the sanctuary shekel.[f](DE) It is a guilt offering.(DF) 16 They must make restitution(DG) for what they have failed to do in regard to the holy things, pay an additional penalty of a fifth of its value(DH) and give it all to the priest. The priest will make atonement for them with the ram as a guilt offering, and they will be forgiven.

17 “If anyone sins and does what is forbidden in any of the Lord’s commands, even though they do not know it,(DI) they are guilty and will be held responsible.(DJ) 18 They are to bring to the priest as a guilt offering(DK) a ram from the flock, one without defect and of the proper value. In this way the priest will make atonement for them for the wrong they have committed unintentionally, and they will be forgiven.(DL) 19 It is a guilt offering; they have been guilty of[g] wrongdoing against the Lord.”(DM)

Mark 2:13-3:6

Jesus Calls Levi and Eats With Sinners(A)

13 Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him,(B) and he began to teach them. 14 As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,”(C) Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.

15 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees(D) saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”(E)

17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”(F)

Jesus Questioned About Fasting(G)

18 Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting.(H) Some people came and asked Jesus, “How is it that John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees are fasting, but yours are not?”

19 Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? They cannot, so long as they have him with them. 20 But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them,(I) and on that day they will fast.

21 “No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. Otherwise, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse. 22 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins.”

Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath(J)(K)

23 One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain.(L) 24 The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”(M)

25 He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? 26 In the days of Abiathar the high priest,(N) he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat.(O) And he also gave some to his companions.”(P)

27 Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man,(Q) not man for the Sabbath.(R) 28 So the Son of Man(S) is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

Jesus Heals on the Sabbath

Another time Jesus went into the synagogue,(T) and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely(U) to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath.(V) Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Stand up in front of everyone.”

Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.

He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians(W) how they might kill Jesus.(X)

Psalm 36

Psalm 36[a]

For the director of music. Of David the servant of the Lord.

I have a message from God in my heart
concerning the sinfulness of the wicked:[b](A)
There is no fear(B) of God
before their eyes.(C)

In their own eyes they flatter themselves
too much to detect or hate their sin.(D)
The words of their mouths(E) are wicked and deceitful;(F)
they fail to act wisely(G) or do good.(H)
Even on their beds they plot evil;(I)
they commit themselves to a sinful course(J)
and do not reject what is wrong.(K)

Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens,
your faithfulness(L) to the skies.(M)
Your righteousness(N) is like the highest mountains,(O)
your justice like the great deep.(P)
You, Lord, preserve both people and animals.(Q)
How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!(R)
People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.(S)
They feast on the abundance of your house;(T)
you give them drink from your river(U) of delights.(V)
For with you is the fountain of life;(W)
in your light(X) we see light.

10 Continue your love(Y) to those who know you,(Z)
your righteousness to the upright in heart.(AA)
11 May the foot of the proud not come against me,
nor the hand of the wicked(AB) drive me away.
12 See how the evildoers lie fallen—
thrown down, not able to rise!(AC)

Leviticus 1:1-3:17, Mark 1:29-2:12, Psalms 35:17-28, Proverbs 9:13-18

Today is the 16th day of February, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it’s great to be here with you today around the Global Campfire as we gather each day taking the next step forward in the Scriptures. And we concluded the book of Exodus yesterday and began the book of Mark yesterday, which brings us to the opening of another book. So, we’re moving right along. This is the third book in the Old Testament or the Hebrew Scriptures. It is the third book in the grouping of five books known as the Pentateuch or the Torah. And we are following the story of the children of Israel and we’ve…we’ve looked at who they are and so we probably have that down by now. And we’ve spent a lot of time around Mount Sinai, the mountain of God where God has been speaking to Moses establishing the terms and the rituals and holidays and obligations that will form a culture, transforming these former slaves into God’s chosen people. And one of the things about these people is that they are to be a holy people. So, it’s been about a year since they’ve left Egypt. The law has been being given and we’ll start to see this theme of holiness emerging in all of the ways that God is aiming the hearts of His people because all of these laws and regulations and statutes, they’re aimed at shaping and governing this people. And they need this. They don’t know how to be anything but slaves. And, so, this is forming and establishing them and giving them an understanding of what it means to be in covenant with God. It’s like God saying, “I want to be known. I want to be known by you. I want to know you. If we’re gonna be in communion together, if we’re gonna fellowship with one another it will be through holiness.” And God even says, “I am holy therefore, you will be holy.”

Introduction to the book of Leviticus:

So, one of the things that we’ll notice as we get to Leviticus…and Leviticus…right…like I haven’t met too many people that say “that’s my favorite book of the Bible.” In fact, here we are now at this…this point where those of us who continue forward into this new month are very likely to take this journey. But this journey for people who are attempting to read the Bible through sometimes ends at Leviticus because it starts…it starts to get…well…it starts to get bloody. There’s a lot of sacrifice in this book. And we have to remember what we’re reading is thousands of years, millennia ago, in a truly different kind of world. The way that people understand their status in the world was very, very different from the one that we now live in. So, if we’re kinda back reading our culture into the Bible that came before right now then…then it’s gonna be irrelevant to us. If we put ourselves in the camp with the children of Israel understanding that we just came out of slavery and we don’t know anything else and begin to read what God is establishing, a covenant of holiness, an offer of intimacy through holiness then we begin to understand that God is showing the children of Israel that their sin costs something valuable, dear, important. And to cover their sin comes at great cost. And ultimately that great cost to something that we…we just finished reading about as we closed the Matthew with the sacrifice of Jesus. And, So, let’s remember that we’re turning the page, but we’re basically where we left off. The children of Israel. That’s the story that’s being told here, the story of the children of Israel. And so, let’s dive in. We’re reading from the New International Version this week. Leviticus chapters 1 through 3.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word and we thank You for this new territory that we have come into Your word in the book of Leviticus as we’ve just begun today and the gospel of Mark which we began yesterday. And Father as we go through this portion of the Old Testament may we realize that holy is something we are to be. Because You are holy, we are to be holy. As we see the children of Israel being pointed in this direction with everything they do, including sacrifices, things that were costly to show that sin is costly and leads to death. These themes are themes that we are familiar with, but they are also throughout the entire Bible. And, so, may we immerse ourselves more deeply in what that looks like for each one of us. You are setting us apart and making us holy. This is known as sanctification. May we participate. May we collaborate by surrendering our hearts fully to You and trusting You and You alone. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi this is Dawn Rising in Michigan, and this call is for Joanne and your campus ministry family. I pray that the Lord sends His armies to release any bind that the devil has over your group of coworkers and you and your husband. May he bless each one of you with children so they can follow in your footsteps. And of course, Satan would want to stop that. So, I just pray and the name of the Lord Jesus that He would help the situation. I’m also praying for Steve the man who only has three months to live who’s a radical atheist. I just pray that in these last few months that he will take this time to know the Lord and to fall in love with Him. That’s my prayer for him. So, I hope someone can be there to help guide him to the Bible, hopefully to the Daily Audio Bible and so that he can spend this time falling in love with our Lord Jesus and be welcomed home. So, that’s my prayer for this family. I love all of you and have a good day. Bye.

Hello DAB family today is February 13th and I just got through listening to the February 12th podcast about Moses’s continued faithfulness and interceding for God’s people, about Jesus’ passion having died for all of us. And Karen from Saint Louis came on asking for prayer for her friend Steve the atheist who’s in his final few months of life. Karen, I just lift up your friend Steve. I just pray that he is overwhelmed by a supernatural understanding of who our God is, how faithful He is. Not that He needs us as many atheists would think that He does, but that He wants us and longs for us and loves us. So, I pray that Steve would come to the end of himself even in this time and see that. And Karen your story touches me so deeply because of my own brother Danny who is such a hardhearted hardheaded atheist. I’m here in Ontario for having buried our father and still my brother refuses to believe that there is an afterlife. So, family I just pray for all the atheists in our lives, that they would know us by our love, that they would know Jesus by His unimaginable love for us.

Hi Tim, it is Bart from Kentucky. I want you to know that I heard your prayer, and I am praying for you. I can identify with much of __ you’ve gone through. I’ve never been bankrupt but have been close, but I can certainly identify with you. Brother you’re in the right spot. You’re praying to the Lord, you’re putting your best foot forward each day. The repercussions and consequences of our past never go away and the feelings, the anxiety and the angst and the depression that arise from those ebbs and flows, doesn’t it? But you know you’re in the right spot. You’re asking for help from your brothers and sisters, you’re praying to the Lord and you’re putting your best foot forward each day. So, to keep on doing that and know that thousands of us out here are praying for you. I pray a healing over you. I pray a restoration. I pray peace and joy as well as courage for you brother. It is in Jesus’ name that I pray these things. Amen. And this is Bart from Kentucky and I’m walking in the light. Keep the faith brother.

Shannon from Texas this is Shannon from Salem OR I just heard your recording, your testimony, your praise. God has delivered Jadrien and his life is totally transformed. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. We pray that you would continue to watch over Jadrien and bless his family, bless his child or children and future generations and we just praise you that what the enemy meant for evil you have turned around for good. And we are praying and faith for the saving of many lives, not only Jadrien’s. But we just pray that his life will become such a powerful testimony in Your hands and that You will give him the boldness and the opportunity to share that testimony with many people around him. And I pray that You would use him in lives like his own and that that many people would become redeemed and saved through the power of Your Holy Spirit working in him and through him to share that hope with others. And we thank You for the faithfulness of his mother and many others and…and those in the DAB family who have prayed for him over the years. We thank You. We bless You. You are mighty to save, and we give You all the glory and we continue to pray that You will redeem the lives of our family and friends who haven’t yet come to know You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Hi family, this is Dan calling from Adelaide South Australia. First time caller but longtime listener. Yeah, just wanted to call to ask for us to pray for my friend Zach who is a…a youth worker. We both are from the same community that works for an organization who does outreach…outreach for youth. And Zach was in an accident about three weeks ago while he was rock climbing, and he is in a really bad way. And, so, I would just ask that everyone could pray for him. He’s in a coma. He’s got a lot of broken bones and is not able to breathe by himself at the moment. And, so, we are all praying as a community that he would be able to start breathing by himself again and begin to regain consciousness. His…his bones are healing but, yeah, he really needs to begin to breathe on his own. So, I really appreciate it if you would all join with me and pray for Zach. Thanks everyone.
