Judges 7:1-8:17, Luke 23:13-43, Psalm 97:1-98:9, Proverbs 14:7-8

Today is the 27th day of April, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian, it is awesome to be here with you. It’s wonderful to come in around the Global Campfire, find a place and ahhh, let it go and look to the Scriptures to inform the choices that we need to make, the decisions that are out in front of us and help us reflect and interpret what we’ve already gone through in our past. So, let’s dive in. We’re working our way through the Book of Judges and we’re meeting the different judges of Israel, but we met one yesterday named Gideon. And it will be Gideon’s story that we continue forward with today. We’re reading from the English Standard Version this week, Judges chapter 7 verse 1 through 8 verse 17.

Commentary:

Okay so, reflecting back on what we read today in the Book of Judges, we’re certainly understanding the story of the Judge Gideon, much better and we see the counterintuitive ways in which the Lord is showing Himself, Powerful and the Redeemer of Israel. They have a pretty big army that has assembled to fight, but the Lord says it’s too many. Like, basically we have to whittle this down to the point that you all realize that you could not have created this victory in your own strength. It’s kind of the lesson of the wilderness, we are utterly dependent on God, utterly for everything. And so, this large army of tens of thousands, 30,000+ people, they…they are whittled down to 300 people and that would have had to been unnerving for Gideon but the Lord had shown him a sign, two signs in fact, with fleece and then he went down and heard a dream in the camp, which certainly gave him courage about what the enemy was thinking, they were disrupted and afraid. And so, all it took was these 300 men, stationed in different areas that made it look like the Army, the enemy army, was surrounded and all they had to do was make a lot of noise, which is what they did. And so, it looked like an army was coming in from all sides. And of course, the enemy army freaked out and started fighting each other and that is how that battle was won. We aren’t done with the story of Gideon yet; we’ll continue it tomorrow. But once again we see God redeeming His people, who are covenant and oath breakers and have done exactly what He said not to do. I mean if you remember when we were reading Deuteronomy, and even the end of Joshua, the leaders of Israel, they knew how stiff-necked and stubborn the people were and they told them what was going to happen in which way to go and told them to choose who they’re gonna serve; of course, they chose the Lord in that moment, but as we see, time went on and they started serving the gods of the nearby region, exactly what they were warned against. And so, to take away any kind of misunderstanding about who the deliverer was, when God came for His people again, it was against all odds and victory was given.

Then in the Book of Luke, we just need to note that once again, we are at the scene where Jesus has been nailed to across in agony, dying unjustly, pouring out his love for our rescue. And we can see all the different ways that God comes for His people in the Old Testament, through the prophets, through the judges, even through Gideon as a Redeemer will not stop coming for the people that He loves. And we see that on the cross, that never changed. He never stopped coming. He never stopped trying to redeem His people, until He came in person to do it once and for all. And so, may we spend some of our day reflecting upon that. There’s only one more time that we’ll pass by this story this year. There’s only one more gospel to read this year and it is a central piece, it is a central piece of the Bible, the story of the passion of Jesus, but it is the central piece of our faith and so it’s not something to blow-by, even though we’ve heard it a thousand times. There will never be enough times to look at this situation and realize the injustice of it and the profound humble love of God for us.

Prayer:

And so, Jesus, we love You and once again we thank You, and once again we confess that words are not enough. Once again, we confess that nothing is enough, there is nothing that we can do. But we love You and our hearts are given to You and we want our lives to look like Your life and there’s nothing that we can do to make that happen, other than surrender who we are and allow You to live within. And then it is You that lives within, Christ, who lives within, no longer we. And so, as we surrender to that posture, we invite Your Holy Spirit to lead us deeper and deeper and deeper, day-by-day, step-by-step. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

And that is it for today, other than to say happy first birthday, to my sweet granddaughter Reagan, born to our daughter China, who reads with Jill on Daily Audio Bible Chronological and her husband Ben. It’s hard to believe, in some ways, it’s been a year, but what a year of joy it’s been to watch her, sort of, become aware. And of course, if she smiles at me, then I turn into a puddle on the floor. It’s just she melts me. And so, we’re rejoicing on this day. Happy first birthday Reagan. And that’s it for today, I’m Brian, I love you and I’ll be waiting for you here tomorrow.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Hey, Daily Audio Bible, this is Susan again, from Mississippi. I had called about a month ago about my children and granddaughter, that we have taken custody of, we’ve actually adopted her. And I was calling about the family not supporting. Well, we have her birthday party, her actual two-year-old birthday was yesterday, April 22nd. Today, is the 23rd and so, we’re having a birthday party on the 30th, we’re actually having it at a goat farm, believe it or not, where you can play with little goats. And so, I’m praying that the family will show up, they’ve all been invited. And my daughter-in-law and son, they have been drug-free now for six weeks, which is a praise. And I continue to ask for prayers for them that they stay that way. They were so excited yesterday, that they got to spend the day with their daughter because they remembered last year on her first birthday, they were nowhere to be seen because they had better things to do, such as drugs. So, continue the prayers for that. Also, I want to pray for Susan in Canada, who had lost her husband seven years ago. It broke my heart listening to her and all her struggling. And Susan, all I got to say is I’ve not been in your shoes and you know, I still have my husband but just, I am praying for you to make it through the stress, that God is with you, no matter what. And remember He doesn’t give you anything that you can’t handle.

Hello, Daily Audio Bible, this is Jesus Freak NE and I just want to say thank You Lord for blessing me so much this year. It’s been an incredible, I have met so many Christians and new people that are interested about You and Your word and I am so grateful to Brian, for this ministry. I pray that God does His will in every single one of your lives. Please, let him do his will okay. And I’m saying this to myself too. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. God, do what You gotta do and give us the strength and the wisdom to be open to it. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Hello my DAB family, this is Jamie in New Jersey, Standing on the Word of God. Please pray with me. Dear Father in Heaven, we come to You in prayer, as we look at the world around us and see so many that are struggling, in trials and in desperate seasons of their lives. Father, we know that You love them all. We pray that You will comfort all in their suffering. Lord Jesus, You came into the world as one of us and suffered as we do. As we go through the trials of life, help us realize that You are with us at all times and in all things. Give us all such confidence in the power of Your grace, that even when we are afraid that we can put our whole trust in You. God of all comfort, are very present help in trouble, be near us. When the evil darkens our world, give us light. Be near us in our times a weakness, struggle and doubt. Sustains by Your grace, that our strength and courage may not fail. When nothing seems sure, give us trust, keep us in that perfect peace, which You have promised to those whose minds are fixed on You. Give us the fresh vision of Your love. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen. Thank you for praying with me, my brothers and sisters. May God richly bless you and answer all your prayers. I love you all. I thank you all for praying along with me. Have a good night.

Sabbath Day, Father, is here once again
And I’m overflowing with praise, from deep down within
My favorite bird is singing real strong
In his usual spot where he sings all day long
Praises, my father, we both sing today
And I can’t speak for him, but I can speak for me
Thank you, my Father, for all that You do
For sunshine and flowers and skies, not quite blue
Because today they’re grey and it looks like it’s gonna rain
But I still praise You, my Father, for the absence of pain
Feels full of grain, hardship and strength
And that deep rooted peace You give us, after the rain
Deep in my brain, that cleanses my heart to see the truth really plain
A world so mundane, You’ve freed me from so many things that are clearly insane
Yet still lives in my brain and I look back over my life now and see the years lost in vain
Your forgiveness, Your patience, Your mercy and grace
Are all clearly here, Father, right in front of my face
And I’m thanking You this Sabbath Day, Father, for thinking of me
You gave up Your son at Golgotha for me
Let me always remember the blood that He shed
And let my praise produce works and not just words from my head
blindtony1016@gmail.com I’d like to give a shout out to little Ezekiel. Wow, little Ezekiel, you are really reading very well. And your insight into the principles of the Scriptures, the meaning and what, what we can take away from, is really great. Brian and Jill, you did a magnificent job raising up Ezekiel and I want to thank you for this wonderful podcast for God’s Holy Spirit to flow. Keep it flowing ya’ll.

Hey DAB, it’s Emmy from Illinois, just calling in with a praise. My husband decided, out of the blue a couple weeks ago that he wanted to go to church on Easter. And originally it was gonna be to a random church in town and then the day before the weekend, he decided he wanted to go to our old church that he said, he would never go back to. Mostly out of, in my opinion, pride, because he’s been gone for over two years. So, we ended up going last week which was super exciting and so many of our friends and the pastors were so happy to see him and just loving and encouraging. And then I was going to be, they encouraged him to come back this week. I was gonna be out of town so I didn’t think he would end up going and he ended up going to church by himself last week, er, yesterday and the pastor caught him and ended up talking to him for over an hour, after church. So, super encouraged to know that he’s, something is going on in his heart that he’s wanting to go back to church. And I’m gonna take it as a, as a good step in the right direction. However long it takes, just I guess, prayers that I would continue to be patient and kind and faithful in this transition phase of moving from antagonism to working on his relationship with God and us. So, thank you so much for your prayers.

Judges 7:1-8:17

Gideon's Three Hundred Men

Then (A)Jerubbaal (that is, Gideon) and all the people who were with him rose early and encamped beside (B)the spring of Harod. And the camp of Midian was north of them, (C)by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.

The Lord said to Gideon, “The people with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, (D)lest Israel boast over me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’ Now therefore proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, (E)‘Whoever is fearful and trembling, let him return home and hurry away from Mount Gilead.’” Then 22,000 of the people returned, and 10,000 remained.

And the Lord said to Gideon, “The people are still too many. Take them down to the water, and I will test them for you there, and anyone of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall go with you,’ shall go with you, and anyone of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ shall not go.” So he brought the people down to the water. And the Lord said to Gideon, “Every one who laps the water with his tongue, as a dog laps, you shall set by himself. Likewise, every one who kneels down to drink.” And the number of those who lapped, putting their hands to their mouths, was 300 men, but all the rest of the people knelt down to drink water. And the Lord said to Gideon, (F)“With the 300 men who lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hand, and let all the others go every man to his home.” So the people took provisions in their hands, and their trumpets. And he sent all the rest of Israel every man to his tent, but retained the 300 men. And the camp of Midian was below him (G)in the valley.

That same (H)night the Lord said to him, “Arise, go down against the camp, (I)for I have given it into your hand. 10 But if you are afraid to go down, go down to the camp with Purah your servant. 11 (J)And you shall hear what they say, and afterward your hands shall be strengthened to go down against the camp.” (K)Then he went down with Purah his servant to the outposts of the armed men who were in the camp. 12 And the Midianites and the Amalekites and (L)all the people of the East lay along the valley like locusts in abundance, and their camels were without number, (M)as the sand that is on the seashore in abundance. 13 When Gideon came, behold, a man was telling a dream to his comrade. And he said, “Behold, I dreamed a dream, and behold, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian and came to the tent and struck it so that it fell and turned it upside down, so that the tent lay flat.” 14 And his comrade answered, “This is no other than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel; God has given into his hand Midian and all the camp.”

15 As soon as Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, he worshiped. And he returned to the camp of Israel and said, “Arise, for the Lord has given the host of Midian into your hand.” 16 And he divided the 300 men into three companies and put trumpets into the hands of all of them and empty jars, with (N)torches inside the jars. 17 And he said to them, “Look at me, and do likewise. When I come to the outskirts of the camp, do as I do. 18 When I blow the trumpet, I and all who are with me, then blow the trumpets also on every side of all the camp and shout, (O)‘For the Lord and for Gideon.’”

Gideon Defeats Midian

19 So Gideon and the hundred men who were with him came to the outskirts of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch, when they had just set the watch. And they blew the trumpets and smashed the jars that were in their hands. 20 Then the three companies blew the trumpets and broke the jars. They held in their left hands the torches, and in their right hands the trumpets to blow. (P)And they cried out, “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!” 21 Every man stood in his place around the camp, (Q)and all the army ran. They cried out and fled. 22 (R)When they blew the 300 trumpets, (S)the Lord set (T)every man's sword against his comrade and against all the army. And the army fled as far as Beth-shittah toward Zererah,[a] as far as the border of Abel-meholah, by Tabbath. 23 And the men of Israel were called out from Naphtali and from Asher and from all Manasseh, and they pursued after Midian.

24 (U)Gideon sent messengers throughout (V)all the hill country of Ephraim, saying, “Come down against the Midianites and capture the waters against them, as far as (W)Beth-barah, and also the Jordan.” So all the men of Ephraim were called out, and they captured the waters as far as Beth-barah, and also the Jordan. 25 And they captured (X)the two princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb. They killed Oreb (Y)at the rock of Oreb, and Zeeb they killed at the winepress of Zeeb. Then they pursued Midian, and they brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon (Z)across the Jordan.

Gideon Defeats Zebah and Zalmunna

(AA)Then the men of Ephraim said to him, “What is this that you have done to us, not to call us when you went to fight against Midian?” And they accused him fiercely. And he said to them, “What have I done now in comparison with you? Is not (AB)the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the grape harvest of Abiezer? (AC)God has given into your hands the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb. What have I been able to do in comparison with you?” (AD)Then their anger[b] against him subsided when he said this.

And Gideon came to the Jordan and crossed over, he and (AE)the 300 men who were with him, exhausted yet pursuing. So he said to the men of (AF)Succoth, “Please give loaves of bread to the people who follow me, for they are exhausted, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, the kings of Midian.” And the officials of Succoth said, (AG)“Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna already in your hand, (AH)that we should give bread to your army?” So Gideon said, “Well then, when the Lord has given Zebah and Zalmunna into my hand, (AI)I will flail your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers.” And from there he went up to (AJ)Penuel, and spoke to them in the same way, and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered. And he said to the men of Penuel, (AK)“When I come again in peace, (AL)I will break down this tower.”

10 Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor with their army, about 15,000 men, all who were left of all the army of (AM)the people of the East, for there had fallen 120,000 men (AN)who drew the sword. 11 And Gideon went up by the way of the tent dwellers east of (AO)Nobah and Jogbehah and attacked the army, for the army felt (AP)secure. 12 And Zebah and Zalmunna fled, and he pursued them (AQ)and captured the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and he threw all the army into a panic.

13 Then Gideon the son of Joash returned from the battle by the ascent of Heres. 14 And he captured a young man of Succoth and questioned him. And he wrote down for him the officials and elders of Succoth, seventy-seven men. 15 And he came to the men of Succoth and said, “Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, about whom you taunted me, saying, (AR)‘Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna already in your hand, that we should give bread to your men who are exhausted?’” 16 And he took the elders of the city, and he took thorns of the wilderness and briers and with them taught the men of Succoth a lesson. 17 (AS)And he broke down the tower of Penuel and killed the men of the city.

Luke 23:13-43

13 Pilate then called together the chief priests and (A)the rulers and the people, 14 and said to them, “You brought me this man (B)as one who was misleading the people. And (C)after examining him before you, behold, I (D)did not find this man guilty of any of your charges against him. 15 Neither did Herod, for (E)he sent him back to us. Look, nothing deserving death has been done by him. 16 (F)I will therefore punish and release him.”[a]

Pilate Delivers Jesus to Be Crucified

18 (G)But they all cried out together, (H)“Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas”— 19 a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection started in the city and (I)for murder. 20 Pilate addressed them once more, desiring to release Jesus, 21 but they kept shouting, “Crucify, crucify him!” 22 A third time he said to them, “Why? (J)What evil has he done? (K)I have found in him no guilt deserving death. (L)I will therefore punish and release him.” 23 But they were urgent, demanding with loud cries that he should be crucified. And their voices prevailed. 24 So Pilate decided that their demand should be granted. 25 He released the man who had been thrown into prison (M)for insurrection and murder, for whom they asked, (N)but he delivered Jesus over to their will.

The Crucifixion

26 (O)And as they led him away, they seized one Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, and laid on him the cross, to carry it behind Jesus. 27 And there followed him a great multitude of the people and of women who were (P)mourning and lamenting for him. 28 But turning to them Jesus said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. 29 For behold, (Q)the days are coming when they will say, (R)‘Blessed are the barren and the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’ 30 (S)Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us,’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’ 31 For (T)if they do these things when (U)the wood is green, what will happen (V)when it is dry?”

32 (W)Two others, who were criminals, were led away to be put to death with him. 33 (X)And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, (Y)one on his right and one on his left. 34 And Jesus said, “Father, (Z)forgive them, (AA)for they know not what they do.”[b] And they cast lots (AB)to divide his garments. 35 And (AC)the people stood by, watching, (AD)but (AE)the rulers (AF)scoffed at him, saying, (AG)“He saved others; (AH)let him save himself, (AI)if he is (AJ)the Christ of God, (AK)his Chosen One!” 36 The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and (AL)offering him sour wine 37 and saying, (AM)“If you are (AN)the King of the Jews, save yourself!” 38 (AO)There was also an inscription over him,[c] “This is (AP)the King of the Jews.”

39 (AQ)One of the criminals who were hanged (AR)railed at him,[d] saying, “Are you not (AS)the Christ? Save yourself and us!” 40 But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 And he said, “Jesus, remember me (AT)when you come into your kingdom.” 43 And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in (AU)paradise.”

Psalm 97-98

The Lord Reigns

97 (A)The Lord reigns, (B)let the earth rejoice;
let the many (C)coastlands be glad!
(D)Clouds and thick darkness are all around him;
(E)righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
(F)Fire goes before him
and burns up his adversaries all around.
His (G)lightnings light up the world;
the earth sees and (H)trembles.
The mountains (I)melt like (J)wax before the Lord,
before (K)the Lord of all the earth.

(L)The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
and all (M)the peoples see his glory.
All worshipers of images are (N)put to shame,
who make their boast in (O)worthless idols;
(P)worship him, all you gods!

Zion hears and (Q)is glad,
and the daughters of Judah rejoice,
because of your judgments, O Lord.
For you, O Lord, are (R)most high over all the earth;
you are exalted far above (S)all gods.

10 O you who love the Lord, (T)hate evil!
He (U)preserves the lives of his (V)saints;
he (W)delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
11 (X)Light (Y)is sown[a] for the righteous,
and joy for the upright in heart.
12 (Z)Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous,
and (AA)give thanks to his holy name!

Make a Joyful Noise to the Lord

A Psalm.

98 Oh sing to the Lord (AB)a new song,
for he has done (AC)marvelous things!
His (AD)right hand and his holy arm
have worked salvation for him.
The Lord has (AE)made known his salvation;
he has (AF)revealed his righteousness in (AG)the sight of the nations.
He has (AH)remembered his (AI)steadfast love and faithfulness
to the house of Israel.
All (AJ)the ends of the earth have seen
(AK)the salvation of our God.

(AL)Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;
(AM)break forth into joyous song and sing praises!
Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre,
with the lyre and the (AN)sound of melody!
With (AO)trumpets and the sound of (AP)the horn
(AQ)make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord!

(AR)Let the sea roar, and (AS)all that fills it;
(AT)the world and those who dwell in it!
Let the rivers (AU)clap their hands;
let (AV)the hills sing for joy together
before the Lord, for he comes
to (AW)judge the earth.
He will judge the world with righteousness,
and the peoples with equity.

Judges 6:1-40, Luke 22:54-23:12, Psalms 95:1-96:13, Proverbs 14:5-6

Today is the 26th day of April welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian and it is wonderful to be here with you today like every day taking the next step forward, finding what comes next in the books that we are working our way through. Right now, in the Old Testament that happens to be the book of Judges. And, so, we are meeting the judges of Israel, the people that led the children of Israel between Joshua and their first king. And, so, let’s dive in. Today, Judges chapter 6.

Commentary:

Okay. So, in the book of Judges we have met who will be a judge of Israel, a man named Gideon. His story is quite famous, and it will be unfolding in the next few days. But we see the angel of the Lord come to Gideon and say you are the one, you’re being tapped, you’re going to set the people free. Go do it. And Gideon of course, as a response is like, where is the Lord? Like, where is the Lord we’ve been told of? We have been oppressed by Midian. Where is He? Gideon is finding out that he’s right with him and is being commissioned to once again redeem Israel and we’ll watch that unfold.

And we move into the book of Luke, and we are obviously moving through the passion narrative again of the arrest and trial and beating and torture and crucifixion and death and burial and resurrection of Jesus. And we can see all of the animosity that has been building up toward Jesus beginning to spill out as accusations and beatings begin to happen. We also see Peter who has followed close behind. He’s followed close behind. That’s something. Because we don’t have any indication that any of the other friends of Jesus did anything but run away. Peter’s at least trying to stay close, but we also watch him deny that he even knows Jesus and realizes what he’s done and just as brokenhearted leaves and weeps bitterly. We then watch the Jewish Council try Jesus, question Jesus, and then condemn Jesus. We watch Jesus go before the Roman prefect. So, the top person in charge of the region, like the governor of the region. A person with the power of life and death. Those kinds of decisions Pilate could make. And they brought Jesus before Pilate. And of course, they had to find something that wasn’t just Hebrew centric, not something just against the Mosaic Law to condemn Jesus. They had to find something that would condemn him in the eyes of the Roman Empire and that was His claim to be a king. And, so, Pilate’s like, so you’re the king of the Jews. And Jesus is like, that’s what you’ve said. And Pilate doesn’t find anything wrong with Jesus. And when Pilate finds out that Jesus is a Galilean, he sends Him to Herod who is a client king. He is the king of the Jews. He is actually the king of the Jews. So, Pilates like well let me send this one king of the Jews to the other king of the Jews. It’s in his jurisdiction. They can sort it out. And Herod had wanted to meet Jesus anyway. And we hear this kind of scene and think that Jesus is being kind of put in a cage and taken by horseback on a cart somewhere far away to meet where Herod is. Herod was like just across the complex. They were all in the strongholds of Jerusalem at that time and there was a palace there. And, so, for Jesus to be sent to Herod was to send Him across a walkway or like an open area. And, so, Herod gets to meet Jesus. He’s looking for a sign, but Jesus didn’t have the conversation. So, Herod began to treat with contempt, and mock him with the soldiers according to the gospel of Luke. And then he sends Him back to Pilate and it’s almost like there’s an inside joke here. He sends Him back Pilate after draping a splendid robe, like a royal robe over Him. And then he sent Him back with this royal robe to Pilate. And according to the gospel of Luke, Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that day. Before that they were just at odds with one another. So, what would sending Jesus back to Pilate do to cause them to become friends? Probably this robe. This royal robe draped over Jesus is actually a tremendous mockery. It says if the king of the Jews, Herod drapes a royal robe over Jesus and sends them back to Pilate, as if he’s found him to in fact be the king of the Jews. And Pilate gets the joke. And that’s where we leave Jesus today. Jesus, our Savior arrested, brought before the Council of His own people who condemn Him, sent before Pilate for the capital offense in the order of execution, but Pilate doesn’t find anything wrong. And, so, he passes Him off to Herod who passes Him back to Pilate and Jesus remaining silent.

Prayer:

Father, we thank you for your word. We thank you for all of the different facets and nuances, all of the different people, all of the different stories and lives that we get to engage with, and we get to see the humanity in. Help us to recognize that, that the Bible is a very very human book. If we took human beings out of the Bible, there isn’t a Bible. And, so, this book is for us, and it helps us learn about us and it leads us to you. And, so, come Holy Spirit and plant what has been read today in the soil of our hearts we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Announcements:

dailyaudiobible.com is home base as well as the Daily Audio Bible app. That’s home base as well. So, either place you can find out what’s going on around here. So, check it out.

Check out things like the Daily Audio Bible Shop. There are resources there in the Daily Audio Bible Shop that are for the journey through the Bible in a year that we are on. Whether that be things that are just incorporated into our lives that are centered around the rhythm of having time an oasis that we build for each other around the Global Campfire every day, or whether that be resources to take the journey deeper. Check them out in the Daily Audio Bible Shop. Check out the Windfarm coffee and tea we roast freshly and source from around the world and bring here to the community. It’s just one of the…one of the things that certainly help with the Daily Audio Bible but it’s the incorporation of things that we do in our lives and to bring some of those rituals that we have in our lives and center them around the Scriptures. And, so, I drink coffee every day. I drink Windfarm coffee every day and it sits here by me every day because that’s part of my ritual. It was my ritual before the Daily Audio Bible. I drink coffee. I like it. And I like afternoon tea as well. I like it. And these little rhythms, they kinda go together. And, so, my coffee and the Scriptures are a part of the same story most every single day. And we just thought, man, everybody drinks this, coffee, or tea. Most people. Not everybody. But most people do. What if we could source this? What if we could roast of this? What if we could bring this to the community together and just make it a part of our story. And, so, that’s how Windfarm coffee and tea was born, which you can find in the Daily Audio Bible Shop. You can look at all the different varietals and you can even have it shipped to you every month, monthly if you want, however many bags you drink per month, or use per month. We can ship it to you fresh, fresher than you can get pretty much anywhere else. So, check that out. You can find it in the Daily Audio Bible Shop in the coffee and tea section.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, if this mission to bring the spoken word of God read fresh every day and given to whoever will listen anywhere that they may be any time that it may be and to build community around the rhythm that we show up every day around this Global Campfire, if that is life-giving and meaningful to your days then thank you for your partnership. There is a link on the homepage at dailyaudiobible.com. If you’re using the app, you can press the Give button in the upper right-hand corner or the mailing address is PO Box 1996 Spring Hill Tennessee 37174.

Family I listened to the prayer line after the broadcast today and I heard Susan God’s Yellow Flower from Canada requesting prayer for her nephew as well as Steve from Texas requesting prayer for his marriage. Both of these requests struck me. So, family let us pray. Father God today I come lifting up Susan from Canada Father God. I lift up her God and I pray Your peace Your power and Your strength be manifested in her. Lord she’s always reaching out to Your children to pray for others. Strengthen her God. She seemed to have went through God just a time of loss Father God and within her family. I pray that the peace of God and the strength of God and Your power will radiate and manifest and transform and refresh her. I pray God for the healing of this brain tumor Father. I pray that it’s benign and I pray God that her nephew God will come to know You. Put the right people in his path Father God that can share Your gospel during this time during this trying time. And Lord God we lift up Steve from Texas God who is experiencing tension in his second marriage. Father, we pray God he asks for peace. You are the God of peace Father God. May the peace rain down in Steve’s life. God may he hold on to Your unchanging hand Father God. May his wife come to know You if she don’t know You. Father may You super do that marriage. Iron out God the rough patches in that marriage Father God. Father I pray Father God You will give strength Steve the strength and the power. Show Yourself strong in this marriage and in this healing situation in Jesus’ name Amen.

Hello Daily Audio Bible family this is Jeremiah from Michigan. I’m a first-time caller and I just want to testify to the Lord’s goodness. 2021 was a very difficult year for me. I was fired by my little brother from a family business that I’ve been in since a little boy and didn’t know what to do, didn’t know how to continue to provide for my family and the Lord led me to go to truck driving school and get my CDL. And the very first day I was there God opened up an opportunity for me to be recruited and I’ve been hired by them a few weeks later and it’s been a huge blessing, a huge joy to drive a truck and be a part of the lifeblood of America but also to see many beautiful places. And just recently the last few weeks I started to go over the road and was paired up with a young man named Phil. And the first week that we were in the truck together he dedicated his life to the Lord and has been faithfully listening to the Daily Audio Bible every night as he’s driving. He did 15 nights last week and he’s almost caught up. And, so, I’d just like to testify to the Lord’s faithfulness. We’re reading his word. We’re talking about Him and praying every day and I just ask you to pray for Phil and Madison Hagar that the Lord would continue to work in their lives and that He would be glorified. May His Kingdom come may His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. He is Our daily bread, and we are satisfied with Him. Blessing.

Hello, DABbers this is Kate from Columbus OH. I’m here to pray for sparky. Man, I heard you. I felt your prayer request. Isn’t it awesome that your weakest moment that you are your strongest? It was very strong of you to reach out for help to people that you know will pray and will stay on their knees, that will stay on the wall just for you because you are special enough. God caught every tear; He hears every sigh and He’s helping you right now even before you uttered a word to us. So, stand fast on His word. Trust Him knowing that He is working for you good and something great is going to come out of it. Stay in His word. Stay in His word. I can’t stress it enough. Keep reading your Bible. When you feel your worst keep reading your Bible. When you feel your worst keep listening to the Daily Audio Bible. Keep praying. God, I don’t know how I’m going to go out of this. God what you gonna do? God, I need help. God I am depressed. He hears it. Keep putting it out there. Keep putting it out there and watch God turn it around for you good. Just when you least expect expect it it’s going to work out. Don’t worry about who’s getting laid off. God has something for you. You don’t know what He’s gonna do how He’s gonna turn that around just trust that He is working it out for you good. So what if you are laid off. He has something greater for you. He’s gonna take care of the bills. He knows what you need to pay for. He knows that your kid needs things. Trust Him. You’re trusting him to take care of your bills right now. Trust Him to take care of your of your bills if you get laid off and have to go to a new job, which might be better than what you have. So, seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. Love you.

Good morning Daily Audio Bible family today is the 22nd of April. I just finished listening to today’s podcast and heard God’s Yellow Flower at the very end. And oh, my sister first of all I really really love when you call in and pray for others and offer your wisdom and your prayers. I just want you to know how much you and your wisdom and your walk with God have blessed me over the last years and how much I really love you for that reason and just for the fact that you’re my sister in Christ and I love you. And I can hear the pain in your voice, and I can hear the struggle in your voice. I just lift you up before our father in heaven, praying over you, peace and strength and joy and understanding and a little…and a break, just a break, just some peace and some time in between sorrows. I pray that God comforts you in your sorrow and gives you that space where you can…you can find his joy and his peace, which I think you already have but life gets so overwhelming, and we find ourselves in those times where we feel like we can’t take one more thing. And I just pray that God will lift you from this space and just speak to your heart in the way that you need him to speak to your heart and meet you where you’re at like He always does. I’m so glad you’re my friend. I love you.

Hello DAB family. This is the first time that I’ve ever come on to actually request prayer as far as recording but I’m desperate for prayer right now for my son. He…he’s a good kid. He’s 22 and he’s in some trouble right now. I pray that you would come in agreement with me about my son. He’s been raised in the church. He knows the Lord, except, you know, when they get away from their parents, they…it’s almost like they have their freedom. And I think that’s what happened with my son. He just got caught up. And I just pray…this is my prayer for him without getting into any details, that he would not go to jail, but God would have mercy on him because God knows his heart and that God would intervene and do a miracle this week, next week, and the week after. Just come in agreement with me with my son. His name is Josh, and he needs a miracle. Thank you, so much Daily Audio Bible family.

Judges 6

Midian Oppresses Israel

(A)The people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord gave them into the hand of (B)Midian seven years. And the hand of Midian overpowered Israel, and because of Midian the people of Israel made for themselves the dens that are in the mountains and (C)the caves and the strongholds. For whenever the Israelites planted crops, the Midianites and (D)the Amalekites and (E)the people of the East would come up against them. They would encamp against them (F)and devour the produce of the land, as far as Gaza, and leave no sustenance in Israel and no sheep or ox or donkey. For they would come up with their livestock and their tents; they would come (G)like locusts in number—both they and their camels could not be counted—so that they laid waste the land as they came in. And Israel was brought very low because of Midian. And the people of Israel (H)cried out for help to the Lord.

When the people of Israel cried out to the Lord on account of the Midianites, the Lord sent a prophet to the people of Israel. And he said to them, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: (I)I led you up from Egypt and brought you out of the house of slavery. And I delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of all who oppressed you, and (J)drove them out before you and gave you their land. 10 And I said to you, ‘I am the Lord your God; (K)you shall not fear the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell.’ But you have not obeyed my voice.”

The Call of Gideon

11 Now the angel of the Lord came and sat under the terebinth at Ophrah, which belonged to Joash (L)the Abiezrite, while his son (M)Gideon was beating out wheat in the winepress to hide it from the Midianites. 12 And (N)the angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, (O)“The Lord is with you, O mighty man of valor.” 13 And Gideon said to him, “Please, my lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are (P)all his wonderful deeds (Q)that our fathers recounted to us, saying, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has forsaken us and given us into the hand of Midian.” 14 And the Lord[a] turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian; (R)do not I send you?” 15 And he said to him, (S)“Please, Lord, how can I save Israel? Behold, (T)my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.” 16 And the Lord said to him, (U)“But I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man.” 17 And he said to him, (V)“If now I have found favor in your eyes, then (W)show me a sign that it is you who speak with me. 18 Please (X)do not depart from here until I come to you and bring out my present and set it before you.” And he said, “I will stay till you return.”

19 So Gideon went into his house (Y)and prepared a young goat and unleavened cakes from an ephah[b] of flour. The meat he put in a basket, and the broth he put in a pot, and brought them to him under the terebinth and presented them. 20 And the angel of God said to him, “Take the meat and the unleavened cakes, and put them (Z)on this rock, and (AA)pour the broth over them.” And he did so. 21 Then the angel of the Lord reached out the tip of the staff that was in his hand and touched the meat and the unleavened cakes. (AB)And fire sprang up from the rock and consumed the meat and the unleavened cakes. And the angel of the Lord vanished from his sight. 22 Then Gideon perceived that he was the angel of the Lord. And Gideon said, (AC)“Alas, O Lord God! For now I have seen the angel of the Lord face to face.” 23 But the Lord said to him, (AD)“Peace be to you. Do not fear; you shall not die.” 24 Then Gideon built an altar there to the Lord and called it, (AE)The Lord Is Peace. To this day it still stands at (AF)Ophrah, which belongs to the Abiezrites.

25 That night the Lord said to him, “Take your father's bull, and the second bull seven years old, and pull down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down (AG)the Asherah that is beside it 26 and build an altar to the Lord your God on the top of the (AH)stronghold here, with stones laid in due order. Then take the second bull and offer it as a burnt offering with the wood of the Asherah that you shall cut down.” 27 So Gideon took ten men of his servants and did as the Lord had told him. But because he was too afraid of his family and the men of the town to do it by day, he did it by night.

Gideon Destroys the Altar of Baal

28 When the men of the town rose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was broken down, and the Asherah beside it was cut down, and the second bull was offered on the altar that had been built. 29 And they said to one another, “Who has done this thing?” And after they had searched and inquired, they said, “Gideon the son of Joash has done this thing.” 30 Then the men of the town said to Joash, “Bring out your son, that he may die, for he has broken down the altar of Baal and cut down the Asherah beside it.” 31 But Joash said to all who stood against him, “Will you contend for Baal? Or will you save him? Whoever contends for him shall be put to death by morning. If he is a god, let him contend for himself, because his altar has been broken down.” 32 Therefore on that day Gideon[c] was called (AI)Jerubbaal, that is to say, “Let Baal contend against him,” because he broke down his altar.

33 Now (AJ)all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the people of the East came together, and they crossed the Jordan and encamped in (AK)the Valley of Jezreel. 34 But (AL)the Spirit of the Lord clothed Gideon, (AM)and he sounded the trumpet, and the Abiezrites were called out to follow him. 35 (AN)And he sent messengers throughout all Manasseh, and they too were called out to follow him. (AO)And he sent messengers to Asher, Zebulun, and Naphtali, and they went up to meet them.

The Sign of the Fleece

36 (AP)Then Gideon said to God, “If you will save Israel by my hand, as you have said, 37 behold, I am laying a fleece of wool on the threshing floor. If there is dew on the fleece alone, and it is dry on all the ground, then I shall know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you have said.” 38 And it was so. When he rose early next morning and squeezed the fleece, he wrung enough dew from the fleece to fill a bowl with water. 39 Then Gideon said to God, (AQ)“Let not your anger burn against me; let me speak just once more. Please let me test just once more with the fleece. Please let it be dry on the fleece only, and on all the ground let there be dew.” 40 And God did so that night; and it was dry on the fleece only, and on all the ground there was dew.

Luke 22:54-23:12

Peter Denies Jesus

54 (A)Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest's house, (B)and Peter was following at a distance. 55 (C)And when they had kindled a fire in the middle of (D)the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down among them. 56 Then a servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the light and looking closely at him, said, “This man also was with him.” 57 But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know him.” 58 And a little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.” 59 And after an interval of about an hour still another (E)insisted, saying, “Certainly this man also was with him, for he too is a Galilean.” 60 But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. 61 And the Lord turned and (F)looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, (G)“Before the rooster crows today, you will (H)deny me three times.” 62 And he went out and wept bitterly.

Jesus Is Mocked

63 (I)Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking him as they beat him. 64 (J)They also blindfolded him and kept asking him, (K)“Prophesy! (L)Who is it that struck you?” 65 And they said many other things against him, (M)blaspheming him.

Jesus Before the Council

66 (N)When day came, (O)the assembly of the elders of the people gathered together, both chief priests and scribes. And they led him away to their (P)council, and they (Q)said, 67 (R)“If you are (S)the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe, 68 and if I ask you, you will not answer. 69 But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated (T)at the right hand of the power of God.” 70 So they all said, “Are you (U)the Son of God, then?” And he said to them, (V)“You say that I am.” 71 Then they said, “What further testimony do we need? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips.”

Jesus Before Pilate

23 (W)Then the whole company of them arose and brought him before Pilate. And they began to accuse him, saying, “We found this man (X)misleading our nation and (Y)forbidding us to give tribute to (Z)Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, (AA)a king.” (AB)And Pilate asked him, (AC)“Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, (AD)“You have said so.” Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, (AE)“I find no guilt in this man.” But they were urgent, saying, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, (AF)from Galilee even to this place.”

Jesus Before Herod

When Pilate heard this, he asked whether the man was a Galilean. And when he learned that he belonged to (AG)Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him over to Herod, who was himself in Jerusalem at that time. When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, (AH)for he had long desired to see him, (AI)because he had heard about him, and he was hoping (AJ)to see some sign done by him. So he questioned him at some length, but he made no answer. 10 The chief priests and the scribes stood by, vehemently accusing him. 11 And Herod with his soldiers (AK)treated him with contempt and (AL)mocked him. Then, (AM)arraying him in splendid clothing, he sent him back to Pilate. 12 And (AN)Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that very day, for before this they had been at enmity with each other.

Psalm 95-96

Let Us Sing Songs of Praise

95 Oh come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us (A)make a joyful noise to (B)the rock of our salvation!
Let us (C)come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us (D)make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
For the Lord is (E)a great God,
and a great King (F)above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth;
the heights of the mountains are his also.
The sea is his, for (G)he made it,
and his hands formed (H)the dry land.

Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
let us (I)kneel before the Lord, our (J)Maker!
For he is our (K)God,
and we are the people of his (L)pasture,
and the sheep of his hand.
(M)Today, if you (N)hear his voice,
(O)do not harden your hearts, as at (P)Meribah,
as on the day at (Q)Massah in the wilderness,
when your fathers put me to the (R)test
and put me to the proof, though they had seen my (S)work.
10 (T)For forty years I loathed that generation
and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart,
and they have not known (U)my ways.”
11 Therefore I (V)swore in my wrath,
“They shall not enter (W)my rest.”

Worship in the Splendor of Holiness

96 (X)Oh sing to the Lord (Y)a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth!
Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
(Z)tell of his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples!
For (AA)great is the Lord, and (AB)greatly to be praised;
he is to be feared above (AC)all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,
but the Lord (AD)made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before him;
(AE)strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

Ascribe to the Lord, O (AF)families of the peoples,
(AG)ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!
Ascribe to the Lord (AH)the glory due his name;
bring (AI)an offering, and (AJ)come into his courts!
Worship the Lord in (AK)the splendor of holiness;[a]
(AL)tremble before him, all the earth!

10 Say among the nations, (AM)“The Lord reigns!
Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved;
he will (AN)judge the peoples with equity.”

11 Let (AO)the heavens be glad, and let (AP)the earth rejoice;
let (AQ)the sea roar, and all that fills it;
12 let (AR)the field exult, and everything in it!
Then shall all (AS)the trees of the forest sing for joy
13 before the Lord, for he comes,
for he comes (AT)to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness,
and the peoples in his faithfulness.

Judges 4:1-5:31, Luke 22:35-53, Psalm 94:1-23, Proverbs 14:3-4

Today is the 25th day of April, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian, it is wonderful to gather around the Global Campfire together and find a place and relax and allow the Scriptures to speak to us. So, let’s do just that, we’re reading from the English Standard Version this week. We have been moving our way into the book of Judges, which we will continue to do, as we meet that the judges, the judges of Israel, people who rose up to defend and lead the Israelites in their oppression by their enemies. So today Judges chapters 4 and 5.

Commentary:

Okay, couple of things to take note of, from our reading today. First, from the Book of Judges. So, we’re only a couple of days into Judges but we should be now seeing sort of the rhythm of it, that the people are in bondage, they cry out to the Lord, the Lord raises up a leader, a judge of Israel. They don’t have any kings; they don’t have any of that. But the Lord leads up, raises up a leader, a judge for them, to lead them forward and we are meeting those judges, sort of, systematically, one after the other. Today, we met an anomaly, in an incredibly patriarchal world, we realize that God raised up a woman to judge Israel, a prophetess named Deborah. And she called a man named Barak to lead a charge to free Israel and even in the scriptural text itself we see the acknowledgment of the patriarchal…patriarchal nature of things because Barak does not want to go into battle on the advice or counsel of Deborah, unless she’s gonna go. In other words, she’s, her presence will give him the courage to obey and go, and she tells him, I’ll go, no problem, I’ll go, the Lord has delivered us. But if I go, there’s no glory for you, the way that the story will go is that God delivered Sisera, the general of King Jabin of Canaan and his army into the hands of a woman. Barak’s like, basically if you go, I go. And they went together and they defeated their enemies and Sisera, the general has to flee from one of his 900 iron chariots and he meets up with another woman. Jael and she knows he’s the enemy and he’s exhausted and he falls asleep and it’s like, she becomes a warrior. She takes a tent peg and drives it through the enemy’s temple like, that’s the end of Sisera. And so, we see in an ancient time, in an incredibly patriarchal time, valiant women changing the story under God’s leadership, once again setting his people free.

And then we turn into the book of Proverbs and we’re told something very poignant that essentially boils down to this - if we want a harvest in our lives that will require our willingness to shovel some crap at times. The Proverb tells us where there are no oxen the manger is clean. And we know what a manger is we, know Jesus was laid in it, it’s a feeding trough. So, yeah the barn, the manger, everything is clean without an ox. But the Proverb goes on to say but abundant crops come by the strength of the ox. So, we need the strength of the ox but the ox is going to make a mess and were going to have to clean it up and we’re gonna have to do the work of caring for and keeping healthy, what brings the strength to the table. Harvest time doesn’t just happen by accident, working for a harvest is what brings it into existence and sometimes shoveling poop is part of that. And so, let’s consider that today, especially when there’s a harvest that were expecting. If we feel like, all we’re doing is cleaning up messes, that might be an indication that we’re actually headed toward the harvest because it’s all part of it and it’s worth considering, as we reflect on our own stories.

Prayer:

So, Holy Spirit, come into that. We have lots of expectations and often we find out that to reach those expectations we might have to actually do some work. And so, we do some work, only to find out that maybe we’re gonna have to do some really, really, really hard sacrificial work to reach this point, this harvest. And then often, we throw up our hands in exasperation and feel like, you were supposed to make it easy. When actually you’re here fathering us and making us strong and making us wise, in giving us what we need to do what needs to be done. And so, with open hands, we humble ourselves before You with grateful hearts. Thanking You for all of it, all of that You are leading us to know, all that You are doing to mature us. May we not work against You. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Announcements:

dailyaudiobible.com is home. It is the home of the Global Campfire, it’s where you find out what is going on around here. The Daily Audio Bible app will allow you to do that as well. Right in the palm of your hand as well as bunch of other things, so check that out. You can download the app free from the app store that’s connected to the device that you use and no matter whether web or app, check out the Community Section. There in the Community Section, you can get connected on social media, follow Daily Audio Bible for any announcements that there are but it’s also the home of the Prayer Wall, which is not really a social media thing, it’s a Prayer Wall and it’s available to us here, around the Global Campfire. It’s a distinctive about who we are. We have always been people who pray for one another. We’ve always been a very kindhearted group of people all over the world who listen to each other’s stories and pray for one another and walk the path through the Bible and through a year together. And so, the Prayer Wall is a resource for praying for one another and letting each other know we’re praying, but it’s also place to reach out and ask for prayer and share what’s going on and allow others to pray and respond for us, to us. And so, check that out, it’s in the Community Section at the website or in the Daily Audio Bible app.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, if this mission to bring God’s word, read fresh every day and offered freely to anyone who will listen, anywhere on this planet, any time of day or night and to build community around that rhythm, so that we aren’t alone, and we know it because we hear one another, each and every day, if that matters, if that’s life-giving to you, then thank you for your partnership. There is a link on the homepage at dailyaudiobible.com. If you’re using the app, you can press the Give button in the upper right-hand corner or the mailing address is P.O. Box 1996 Springhill, Tennessee 37174.

And as always if you have a prayer request or encouragement, you can hit the Hotline button in the app, that’s the little red button up at the top, that looks like a Hotline button, only thing that looks like that, so it’s hard to miss. Or you can dial 877-942-4253.

And that’s it for today, I’m Brian, I love you and I’ll be waiting for you here tomorrow.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Hi, Daily Audio Bible, my name is Ruska and I’m just calling about, there was a man who just called in and he was talking about another guy who called in who was just struggling with his faith, saying he was the worst Christian ever, which [giggling] there’s no such thing. So, but anyways, yeah, I guess loved that he said I love you brother. To me, that’s just so cool, to hear a man, just openly saying “I love you” to his fellow Christian brother. So, I just think that just shows strength, yeah. Strength, in a man, that’s so powerful to have your strength is in God. So, I just thank both of you guys for your honesty and yeah, just loving each other, in the Lord, that’s so amazing. And so, for me, I work full time, so, and I also have this business that I’ve been trying to get it off the ground for yeah, gosh, over the past year but I’m just still struggling. And I’m in an amazing internship and I’m still struggling. So, God, what, what are you doing? So, I just need prayer for, to know what is God doing. So, thanks friends and __ love you guys.

Hi, neighbors, it’s Lisa the Encourager. I just wanted to call today and just encourage you in finding a very quiet place today to just spend time with the Lord and just to be still and quiet and just take time out of your day to just listen. Sometimes that’s really hard for me to just stop, I’m just, you know, on the go a lot, busy demands with my job and home, all good but busy. And so, I have recently just tried to take more time on my knees and I just wanna really encourage all of you to do the same. And just have the quiet place, that quiet space with you and God alone and just listen, in your pain, in your sorrow, in your loss, maybe a break-up with a loved one, or just financial stress, maybe you’re having trouble with teenagers. Just take that time to be alone with God.

Oh, dear Susan from Canada, God’s Yellow Flower, I hear you about Kenton. Dearest Poppa, please take care of Kenton. Please lead him to You, please call him and tell him about Yourself. Please send him people who will tell him about You and guide him to You. And please call him in his heart, please enlarge that God’s sized hole in his heart so that, he hears you when You call him. Please heal him from his tumor if it’s Your will but most importantly, please call him to You so that he will answer the call and belong to You. Please comfort Susan, she’s sounds so, so discouraged. She needs You more than ever, Lord. So many things have happened in her life and she needs you, Lord. Please comfort her and walk with her and stay with her, step-by-step, day-by-day, breath-by-breath. This is His Mighty Tortoise from Maryland. I love you so much Susan.

Hey DAB family, this is Pastor V in Kirkland, Washington. I’ve been listening for a couple years now and I would really like you to ask you to pray for a member of our congregation, Amy. She woke up a couple of weeks ago with chronic back pain. Turns out she has deteriorating disks in her back. She’s faced, her and her husband are faced with a big decision about surgery or wait it out and see if healing will come. I’d like to ask that you’d give them wisdom in making their decision. I’d like you to ask, I’d like to ask that you would pray for them for complete healing. She’s a wonderful mom of two little kids, she’s a very vibrant person, both of them serve our community doing Bible study with all kinds of folks. They just really need prayer for healing, for wisdom and I would appreciate if you would join us in praying for them. Thank you so much.

Hey DAB family, this is your Sister Ashley from California. And I’ve just finished listening to April 22nd and I wanted to call and encourage a couple of my brothers and sisters. First, I want to pray, reach out to Steve from Texas. Brother, when you’re at the end of your rope that’s when God can do what He’s known for, making a way. I want to encourage you to stay faithful in the small things and God will bless your obedience. I hear the fruit of humility in your cry out for help. God tells us to call upon him in the day of trouble and He will deliver us and then we will glorify Him. He is faithful and He provides. Don’t lose hope Steve, keep holding on. And then, Susan, God’s Yellow Flower, first of all, you bless my socks off every time I hear you pray. But, I wanted to let you, share with you, April is what I call an Ebeneezer month, so a witness to God’s help in my life too. Nine years ago, my life turned upside down and went in a whole other direction when I found out I was pregnant with my son. Sometimes, in my life, there’s a calm but right now I’m in the storm too. Like Peter did on the water, I can start out the day strong with my eyes on the Lord with that Shalom, Shalom. But then, the circumstances draw my eyes and I start to drown. My sweet sister, God bless you for calling for help and having a plan. Your worship is your greatest weapon in the fight. Keep raising that Hallelujah, heaven is coming to fight for you. And I just wanted to also share a praise with you all. My dad Doug, did have, was in the hospital last week, and we found out had another stroke and another infection but he is now in rehab so please pray for him. I love you DAB family, bye.

Judges 4-5

Deborah and Barak

(A)And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord after Ehud died. And the Lord (B)sold them into the hand of (C)Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in (D)Hazor. The commander of his army was (E)Sisera, who lived in (F)Harosheth-hagoyim. Then the people of Israel (G)cried out to the Lord for help, for he had (H)900 chariots of iron and he oppressed the people of Israel cruelly for twenty years.

Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time. She used to sit under the palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in (I)the hill country of Ephraim, and the people of Israel came up to her for judgment. She sent and summoned (J)Barak the son of Abinoam from (K)Kedesh-naphtali and said to him, “Has not the Lord, the God of Israel, commanded you, ‘Go, gather your men at Mount (L)Tabor, taking 10,000 from the people of Naphtali and the people of Zebulun. And I will draw out Sisera, the general of Jabin's army, to meet you by (M)the river Kishon with his chariots and his troops, (N)and I will give him into your hand’?” Barak said to her, “If you will go with me, I will go, but if you will not go with me, I will not go.” And she said, “I will surely go with you. Nevertheless, the road on which you are going will not lead to your glory, for the Lord will (O)sell Sisera into the hand of a woman.” Then Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh. 10 And Barak called out (P)Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh. And 10,000 men went up at his heels, and Deborah went up with him.

11 Now Heber (Q)the Kenite had separated from the Kenites, the descendants of (R)Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far away as the oak in (S)Zaanannim, which is near Kedesh.

12 When Sisera was told that Barak the son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor, 13 Sisera called out all his chariots, (T)900 chariots of iron, and all the men who were with him, from Harosheth-hagoyim to the river Kishon. 14 And Deborah said to Barak, “Up! For this is the day in which (U)the Lord has given Sisera into your hand. (V)Does not the Lord go out before you?” So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with 10,000 men following him. 15 (W)And the Lord routed Sisera and all his chariots and all his army before Barak by the edge of the sword. And Sisera got down from his chariot and fled away on foot. 16 And Barak pursued the chariots and the army to Harosheth-hagoyim, and all the army of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword; not a man was left.

17 But Sisera fled away on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite. 18 And Jael came out to meet Sisera and said to him, “Turn aside, my lord; turn aside to me; do not be afraid.” So he turned aside to her into the tent, and she covered him with a rug. 19 And he said to her, “Please give me a little water to drink, for I am thirsty.” So she opened (X)a skin of milk and gave him a drink and covered him. 20 And he said to her, “Stand at the opening of the tent, and if any man comes and asks you, ‘Is anyone here?’ say, ‘No.’” 21 But Jael the wife of Heber took a tent peg, and took a hammer in her hand. Then she went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple until it went down into the ground while he was lying fast asleep from weariness. So he died. 22 And behold, as Barak was pursuing Sisera, Jael went out to meet him and said to him, “Come, and I will show you the man whom you are seeking.” So he went in to her tent, and there lay Sisera dead, with the tent peg in his temple.

23 (Y)So on that day God subdued Jabin the king of Canaan before the people of Israel. 24 And the hand of the people of Israel pressed harder and harder against Jabin the king of Canaan, until they destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.

The Song of Deborah and Barak

(Z)Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day:

“That the leaders took the lead in Israel,
that (AA)the people offered themselves willingly,
bless the Lord!

“Hear, O kings; give ear, O princes;
to the Lord I will sing;
I will make melody to the Lord, the God of Israel.

Lord, (AB)when you went out from Seir,
when you marched from the region of Edom,
(AC)the earth trembled
and the heavens dropped,
yes, the clouds dropped water.
The mountains (AD)quaked before the Lord,
(AE)even Sinai before the Lord,[a] the God of Israel.

“In the days of (AF)Shamgar, son of Anath,
in the days of (AG)Jael, (AH)the highways were abandoned,
and travelers kept to the byways.
The villagers ceased in Israel;
they ceased to be until I arose;
I, Deborah, arose as a mother in Israel.
(AI)When new gods were chosen,
then war was in the gates.
(AJ)Was shield or spear to be seen
among forty thousand in Israel?
My heart goes out to the commanders of Israel
who (AK)offered themselves willingly among the people.
Bless the Lord.

10 “Tell of it, (AL)you who ride on white donkeys,
you who sit on rich carpets[b]
and you who walk by the way.
11 To the sound of musicians[c] at the watering places,
there they repeat the righteous triumphs of the Lord,
the righteous triumphs of his villagers in Israel.

“Then down to the gates marched the people of the Lord.

12 (AM)“Awake, awake, Deborah!
Awake, awake, break out in a song!
Arise, Barak, (AN)lead away your captives,
O son of Abinoam.
13 Then down marched the remnant of the noble;
the people of the Lord marched down for me against the mighty.
14 From (AO)Ephraim their root (AP)they marched down into the valley,[d]
following you, Benjamin, with your kinsmen;
from (AQ)Machir marched down the commanders,
and from Zebulun those who bear the lieutenant's[e] staff;
15 the princes of Issachar came with Deborah,
and Issachar faithful to (AR)Barak;
into the valley they rushed at his heels.
Among the clans of Reuben
there were great searchings of heart.
16 Why did you sit still (AS)among the sheepfolds,
to hear the whistling for the flocks?
Among the clans of Reuben
there were great searchings of heart.
17 (AT)Gilead stayed beyond the Jordan;
(AU)and Dan, why did he stay with the ships?
(AV)Asher sat still (AW)at the coast of the sea,
staying by his landings.
18 (AX)Zebulun is a people who risked their lives to the death;
(AY)Naphtali, too, on the heights of the field.

19 “The kings came, they fought;
then fought the kings of Canaan,
at (AZ)Taanach, by the waters of (BA)Megiddo;
(BB)they got no spoils of silver.
20 (BC)From heaven the stars fought,
from their courses they fought against Sisera.
21 (BD)The torrent Kishon swept them away,
the ancient torrent, the torrent Kishon.
March on, my soul, with might!

22 “Then loud beat the horses' hoofs
with the galloping, galloping of his steeds.

23 “Curse Meroz, says the angel of the Lord,
curse its inhabitants thoroughly,
(BE)because they did not come to the help of the Lord,
to the help of the Lord against the mighty.

24 “Most blessed of women be (BF)Jael,
the wife of Heber the Kenite,
of tent-dwelling women most blessed.
25 (BG)He asked for water and she gave him milk;
she brought him curds in a noble's bowl.
26 (BH)She sent her hand to the tent peg
and her right hand to the workmen's mallet;
she struck Sisera;
she crushed his head;
she shattered and pierced his temple.
27 Between her feet
he sank, he fell, he lay still;
between her feet
he sank, he fell;
where he sank,
there he fell—dead.

28 (BI)“Out of the window she peered,
the mother of Sisera wailed through (BJ)the lattice:
‘Why is his chariot so long in coming?
Why tarry the hoofbeats of his chariots?’
29 Her wisest princesses answer,
indeed, she answers herself,
30 ‘Have they not found and (BK)divided the spoil?—
A womb or two for every man;
spoil of dyed materials for Sisera,
spoil of dyed materials embroidered,
two pieces of dyed work embroidered for the neck as spoil?’

31 (BL)“So may all your enemies perish, O Lord!
But your friends be (BM)like the sun (BN)as he rises in his might.”

(BO)And the land had rest for forty years.

Luke 22:35-53

Scripture Must Be Fulfilled in Jesus

35 And he said to them, (A)“When I sent you out with no moneybag or knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.” 36 He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one. 37 For I tell you that (B)this Scripture must be fulfilled in me: (C)‘And he was numbered with the transgressors.’ For (D)what is written about me has its fulfillment.” 38 And they said, “Look, Lord, here are two (E)swords.” And he said to them, (F)“It is enough.”

Jesus Prays on the Mount of Olives

39 (G)And he came out and went, (H)as was his custom, to (I)the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him. 40 (J)And when he came to (K)the place, he said to them, (L)“Pray that you may not (M)enter into temptation.” 41 And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and (N)knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, (O)“Father, if you are willing, remove (P)this cup from me. (Q)Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” 43 And there appeared to him (R)an angel from heaven, strengthening him. 44 And (S)being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.[a] 45 And when he rose from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow, 46 and he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Rise and (T)pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus

47 (U)While he was still speaking, there came a crowd, and the man called (V)Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He drew near to Jesus to kiss him, 48 but Jesus said to him, “Judas, would you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?” 49 And when those who were around him saw what would follow, they said, “Lord, shall we strike (W)with the sword?” 50 And one of them struck the servant[b] of the high priest and cut off his right ear. 51 But Jesus said, “No more of this!” And he touched his ear and healed him. 52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests and (X)officers of the temple and elders, who had come out against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs? 53 When (Y)I was with you day after day in the temple, you did not lay hands on me. But this is (Z)your hour, and (AA)the power of darkness.”

Psalm 94

The Lord Will Not Forsake His People

94 O Lord, God of (A)vengeance,
O God of vengeance, (B)shine forth!
(C)Rise up, O (D)judge of the earth;
repay to the (E)proud what they deserve!
O Lord, (F)how long shall the wicked,
how long shall (G)the wicked exult?
They pour out their (H)arrogant words;
all (I)the evildoers boast.
They (J)crush your people, O Lord,
and afflict your heritage.
They kill (K)the widow and the sojourner,
and murder (L)the fatherless;
(M)and they say, “The Lord does not see;
the God of Jacob does not perceive.”

(N)Understand, O dullest of the people!
Fools, when will you be wise?
(O)He who planted the ear, does he not hear?
He who formed the eye, does he not see?
10 He who (P)disciplines the nations, does he not rebuke?
He who (Q)teaches man knowledge—
11 (R)the Lord—knows the thoughts of man,
that they are (S)but a breath.[a]

12 (T)Blessed is the man whom you (U)discipline, O Lord,
and whom you teach out of your law,
13 to give him (V)rest from (W)days of trouble,
until (X)a pit is dug for the wicked.
14 (Y)For the Lord will not forsake his (Z)people;
he will not abandon his (AA)heritage;
15 for (AB)justice will return to the righteous,
and all the upright in heart will (AC)follow it.

16 (AD)Who rises up for me against the wicked?
Who stands up for me against evildoers?
17 (AE)If the Lord had not been my help,
my soul would soon have lived in the land of (AF)silence.
18 When I thought, (AG)“My foot slips,”
your steadfast love, O Lord, (AH)held me up.
19 When the cares of my heart are many,
your consolations cheer my soul.
20 Can (AI)wicked rulers be allied with you,
those who frame[b] injustice by (AJ)statute?
21 They (AK)band together against the life of the righteous
and condemn (AL)the innocent to death.[c]
22 But the Lord has become my (AM)stronghold,
and my God (AN)the rock of my (AO)refuge.
23 He will bring back on them (AP)their iniquity
and (AQ)wipe them out for their wickedness;
the Lord our God will wipe them out.

Proverbs 14:3-4

By the mouth of a fool comes (A)a rod for his back,[a]
(B)but the lips of the wise will preserve them.
Where there are no oxen, the manger is clean,
but abundant crops come by the strength of the ox.

Judges 2:10-3:31

10 And all that generation also were gathered to their fathers. And there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord or the work that he had done for Israel.

Israel's Unfaithfulness

11 (A)And the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and served the Baals. 12 (B)And they abandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt. (C)They went after other gods, from among the gods of the peoples who were around them, and (D)bowed down to them. (E)And they provoked the Lord to anger. 13 They abandoned the Lord (F)and served the Baals and the Ashtaroth. 14 (G)So the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he (H)gave them over to plunderers, who plundered them. (I)And he sold them into the hand of their surrounding enemies, (J)so that they could no longer withstand their enemies. 15 Whenever they marched out, the hand of the Lord was against them for harm, as the Lord had warned, (K)and as the Lord had sworn to them. And they were in terrible distress.

The Lord Raises Up Judges

16 (L)Then the Lord raised up judges, (M)who saved them out of the hand of those who plundered them. 17 Yet they did not listen to their judges, for (N)they whored after other gods and bowed down to them. (O)They soon turned aside from the way in which their fathers had walked, who had obeyed the commandments of the Lord, and they did not do so. 18 Whenever the Lord raised up judges for them, (P)the Lord was with the judge, and he saved them from the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge. (Q)For the Lord was moved to pity by (R)their groaning because of those who afflicted and oppressed them. 19 But (S)whenever the judge died, they turned back and were more corrupt than their fathers, going after other gods, serving them and bowing down to them. They did not drop any of their practices or their stubborn ways. 20 (T)So the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he said, “Because this people (U)have transgressed my covenant that I commanded their fathers and have not obeyed my voice, 21 (V)I will no longer drive out before them any of the nations that Joshua left when he died, 22 in order (W)to test Israel by them, whether they will take care to walk in the way of the Lord as their fathers did, or not.” 23 So the Lord left those nations, not driving them out quickly, and he did not give them into the hand of Joshua.

(X)Now these are the nations that the Lord left, to test Israel by them, that is, all in Israel who had not experienced all the wars in Canaan. It was only in order that the generations of the people of Israel might know war, to teach war to those who had not known it before. These are the nations: (Y)the five lords of the Philistines and all the Canaanites and the Sidonians and the Hivites who lived on Mount Lebanon, from Mount Baal-hermon as far as Lebo-hamath. They were for (Z)the testing of Israel, to know whether Israel would obey the commandments of the Lord, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses. So the people of Israel lived (AA)among the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. (AB)And their daughters they took to themselves for wives, and their own daughters they gave to their sons, and they served their gods.

Othniel

(AC)And the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. They forgot the Lord their God and served the Baals and (AD)the Asheroth. Therefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, (AE)and he sold them into the hand of (AF)Cushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia. And the people of Israel served Cushan-rishathaim eight years. But when the people of Israel (AG)cried out to the Lord, the Lord raised up a (AH)deliverer for the people of Israel, who saved them, (AI)Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother. 10 (AJ)The Spirit of the Lord was upon him, and he judged Israel. He went out to war, and the Lord gave Cushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand. And his hand prevailed over Cushan-rishathaim. 11 (AK)So the land had rest forty years. Then Othniel the son of Kenaz died.

Ehud

12 (AL)And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord strengthened Eglon (AM)the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done what was evil in the sight of the Lord. 13 He gathered to himself the Ammonites and the (AN)Amalekites, and went and defeated Israel. And they took possession of (AO)the city of palms. 14 And the people of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.

15 Then the people of Israel (AP)cried out to the Lord, and the Lord raised up for them (AQ)a deliverer, Ehud, the son of Gera, the Benjaminite, (AR)a left-handed man. The people of Israel sent tribute by him to Eglon the king of Moab. 16 And Ehud made for himself a sword with two edges, a cubit[a] in length, and he bound it on his right thigh under his clothes. 17 And he presented the tribute to Eglon king of Moab. Now Eglon was a very fat man. 18 And when Ehud had finished presenting the tribute, he sent away the people who carried the tribute. 19 But he himself turned back (AS)at the idols near Gilgal and said, “I have a secret message for you, O king.” And he commanded, “Silence.” And all his attendants went out from his presence. 20 And Ehud came to him as he was sitting alone in his (AT)cool roof chamber. (AU)And Ehud said, “I have a message from God for you.” And he arose from his seat. 21 And Ehud reached with his left hand, took the sword from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly. 22 And the hilt also went in after the blade, and the fat closed over the blade, for he did not pull the sword out of his belly; and the dung came out. 23 Then Ehud went out into the porch[b] and closed the doors of the roof chamber behind him (AV)and locked them.

24 When he had gone, the servants came, and when they saw that the doors of the roof chamber were locked, they thought, (AW)“Surely he is relieving himself in the closet of the cool chamber.” 25 And they waited till they were embarrassed. But when he still did not open the doors of the roof chamber, they took the key and opened them, and there lay their lord dead on the floor.

26 Ehud escaped while they delayed, and he passed beyond (AX)the idols and escaped to Seirah. 27 When he arrived, (AY)he sounded the trumpet in (AZ)the hill country of Ephraim. Then the people of Israel went down with him from the hill country, and he was their leader. 28 And he said to them, “Follow after me, (BA)for the Lord has given your enemies the Moabites into your hand.” So they went down after him and seized (BB)the fords of the Jordan against the Moabites and did not allow anyone to pass over. 29 And they killed at that time about 10,000 of the Moabites, all strong, able-bodied men; not a man escaped. 30 So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. (BC)And the land had rest for eighty years.

Shamgar

31 After him was (BD)Shamgar the son of Anath, who killed 600 of the Philistines (BE)with an oxgoad, and he also (BF)saved Israel.

Luke 22:14-34

Institution of the Lord's Supper

14 (A)And when the hour came, he reclined at table, and the apostles with him. 15 And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you I will not eat it[a] (B)until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” 17 And he took a cup, and (C)when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves. 18 (D)For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine (E)until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 (F)And he took bread, and (G)when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, (H)“This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, (I)“This cup that is poured out for you is (J)the new (K)covenant in my blood.[b] 21 (L)But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is (M)with me on the table. 22 For the Son of Man goes (N)as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!” 23 And they began to question one another, which of them it could be who was going to do this.

Who Is the Greatest?

24 (O)A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. 25 (P)And he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles (Q)exercise lordship over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors. 26 (R)But not so with you. Rather, let (S)the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. 27 For who is the greater, (T)one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But (U)I am among you as the one who serves.

28 “You are those who have stayed with me (V)in my trials, 29 and (W)I assign to you, as my Father assigned to me, a kingdom, 30 (X)that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and (Y)sit on thrones judging (Z)the twelve tribes of Israel.

Jesus Foretells Peter's Denial

31 “Simon, Simon, behold, (AA)Satan demanded to have you,[c] (AB)that he might sift you like wheat, 32 but (AC)I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, (AD)strengthen your brothers.” 33 Peter[d] said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both (AE)to prison and (AF)to death.” 34 (AG)Jesus[e] said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.”

Psalm 92-93

How Great Are Your Works

A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath.

92 (A)It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praises to your name, (B)O Most High;
to declare your (C)steadfast love in (D)the morning,
and your (E)faithfulness by (F)night,
to the music of (G)the lute and (H)the harp,
to the melody of (I)the lyre.
For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your (J)work;
at (K)the works of your hands I sing for joy.

How (L)great are your works, O Lord!
Your (M)thoughts are very (N)deep!
The stupid man cannot know;
the fool cannot understand this:
that though (O)the wicked sprout like grass
and all (P)evildoers flourish,
they are doomed to destruction forever;
but you, O Lord, are (Q)on high forever.
For behold, your enemies, O Lord,
for behold, your enemies shall perish;
all evildoers shall be (R)scattered.

10 But you have exalted my (S)horn like that of (T)the wild ox;
you have (U)poured over me[a] fresh oil.
11 My (V)eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies;
my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants.

12 (W)The righteous flourish like the palm tree
and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 They are planted in the house of the Lord;
they flourish in (X)the courts of our God.
14 They still bear fruit in old age;
they are ever full of sap and green,
15 (Y)to declare that the Lord is upright;
he is my (Z)rock, and there is (AA)no unrighteousness in him.

The Lord Reigns

93 (AB)The Lord reigns; he is (AC)robed in majesty;
the Lord is (AD)robed; he has (AE)put on strength as his belt.
(AF)Yes, the world is established; (AG)it shall never be moved.
(AH)Your throne is established from of old;
(AI)you are from everlasting.

(AJ)The floods have lifted up, O Lord,
the floods have lifted up their voice;
the floods lift up their roaring.
Mightier than the thunders of many waters,
mightier than the waves of the sea,
(AK)the Lord (AL)on high is mighty!

Your (AM)decrees are very trustworthy;
(AN)holiness befits your house,
O Lord, forevermore.

Proverbs 14:1-2

14 (A)The wisest of women (B)builds her house,
but folly with her own hands (C)tears it down.
Whoever (D)walks in uprightness fears the Lord,
but he who is (E)devious in his ways despises him.

Judges 1:1-2:9, Luke 21:29-22:13, Psalm 90:1-91:16, Proverbs 13:24-25

Today is the 23rd day of April, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian, like every day and it’s great to be here with you around the Global Campfire, like every day. It’s wonderful to bring to conclusion another one of our weeks together, even as we’re about to begin a new book and move into some brand-new territory together in the Old Testament.

Introduction to the Book of Judges:

So, today we will begin the Book of Judges and let’s talk about a little bit so we have a little bit of a fly over, at least an understanding about the territory that we’re moving into. I’ve known about the book of Judges since I memorize the books of the Bible when I was kid, but I always thought it was a book of judgment and I never read it. Judges, I mean, who wants to read that book. Although that’s not what the book is about, particularly. So, let’s just turn around and face backward and look at where we’ve come from, what we’ve read so far. We have met Abraham right, Isaac and Jacob. We remember that Jacob’s name was ultimately changed to Israel and so when he had children, they were Israel’s kids, the children of Israel. And we got to watch when they were born and each of those children became one of the tribes of Israel. And then, we follow the story of Joseph all the way into Egypt, saw a famine come upon the land and this reuniting of Joseph and his brothers in Egypt where they are rescued. And then four centuries past and the children of Israel are now slaves in Egypt. We met Moses, we saw the Exodus; the children of Israel being freed from slavery in Egypt and then we wandered in the wilderness with them, until Moses’ death. And then Joshua emerges as Israel’s leader, in the place of Moses, who leads the children of Israel across, into the Promised Land and then we read all of the conquest of the Promised Land and the division of the Promised Land and the settling of the Promised Land, right up until the end of Joshua’s life at 110 years of age. And that’s where we concluded the book of Joshua. So, as we move now into the Book of Judges, we’re not moving into a brand-new story with a whole new set of characters and a whole new group of people. It’s the same story, the same family, this is what happens after Joshua’s leadership. We’ll find that the people pretty well stick together and have a pretty good understanding of what is expected of them and how to operate etc. etc., as long as the people who were contemporary with Joshua who had seen the things that they had seen and who had crossed the Jordan River and fought for the land. Things kind of hold together for a while and then the tribes are the tribes and they begin to do whatever seems right in their own eyes. And sometimes what’s right in their own eyes is right, and sometimes what’s right in their own eyes is very wrong and eventually causes oppression upon the people and they return to God, crying out to God for rescue and God sends a judge to sort of, stand in as a ruler for such a time as this, and lead the people back to God, lead the people forward. Although, as we meet the different judges, we’ll see that their kind of, all over the map, in terms of their leadership. So, as we move through judges, we will move through the centuries that follow Joshua, the people in their life, in the Promised Land and the challenges of that in their slow, slide away from God. And by the time we get to the end of Judges, like I said, several centuries have passed, which will lead us from the beginning of their living in the Promised Land, until the time where they decide they need a king. So, before we can meet Israel’s first king, we need to meet Israel’s judges in the time between Joshua and the first king. So, with that, let’s begin, Judges chapter 1 verse 1 through 2 verse 9.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for bringing us successfully through another week together. We thank You for this brand-new territory that we’ve opened the book on today in the Book of Judges and as we see the…the difference between the times of the judges and the times of Moses and Joshua and we find the shifting sands of our own lives and our own hearts postures and may we very, very clearly see the roads and where they lead and may we seek the voice of wisdom in our lives, knowing that she is at every crossroads pointing the way, if we will but slow down and pay attention. Come, Holy Spirit into all of this we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Hi, DAB fam. This is Emma per Bella in Indiana calling. I don’t know if anybody is gonna get to hear this or not but I just need to ask for prayer. My husband and I have been trying to conceive now for over a year and we knew it would be difficult because of some pre-existing health conditions and now we’re at the stage where we’re at the fertility clinic and kind of moving forward with IVF and all sorts of fun things like that. I just got off the phone with my insurance and while I’m very, very highly blessed and have coverage on a lot of items, the actual medications themselves and the actual injections are not at all covered. And I’m finding very quickly that that’s where a lot of that cost comes from. And I’m scared and I don’t know, I don’t know how God’s gonna do this one. I know He always provides and my head is very aware that you know, He has a plan and He’s in control of it. But my heart is scared and doesn’t know how it’s gonna happen and doesn’t know if it’s gonna be able to happen. And I just, I’m asking for prayer. Thank you everyone. Have a great day.

So, I just listened to the message from Brian on the 19th about how Jesus is saying to us, “I wish today that you of all people would understand the way to peace,” and coupled, that message coupled with the prayer that I heard right after, the lady talked about how she had been kind of on both sides to that prodigal son message and how she had such a breakthrough by asking God to reveal to her in her heart you know why she was reacting certain ways. My goodness, I just feel like, I hope Brian selecting this on purpose or that was just the way it was supposed to be. It just feels like, I had some areas in my life where I’ve been really struggling with my own reactions to things and I know that the way I’m reacting is not the way that I should be. And it’s not the way I want to be and it upsets me and it upsets the people around me. And I just kind of felt like, that was like, straight to me. How I wish today that you, like it was me, of all people, why don’t understand the way to peace and then hearing that lady just talk about how she had this big breakthrough. It just really meant a lot. And so, I’m just really appreciative that you guys share your stories and that Brian placed them and I just hope that I’m gonna be able to really listen to God speaking. Cause I really want to search my, have Him search my heart and to know how to stop reacting the way I’ve been in these situations and that I’ve been struggling with, so. Anyways. Thanks for listening.

Hello Daily Audio Bible community, this is Davis in Kansas. It is Wednesday morning, April 20th, it’s the day before my surgery. I’m calling now cause in a few hours I’m gonna start taking meds and other fun stuff that will get me ready for my surgery tomorrow and then after that my surgery is like, first thing tomorrow morning. So, I’m not gonna get another chance to call. So, I figured, this would be my, it’s not gonna be my last call, it’s gonna be my last call until my surgery, obviously. For anybody that has been following along for the insurance and for those who have been praying for me, I definitely appreciate that, thank you. And just ask that you keep me in your prayers. I’ve been praying over and over that the Lord will guide the surgeons’ hands as if they were His own hands. Cause it is the Lord who stitched me together from the beginning and I think it’s the Lord who’s gonna get me through this now. I pray that I will get the best kind of outcome for my surgery. That I’ll, won’t have to have any type of attachments or extra things that will require a second surgery. That I’ll just be able to heal and go home in a couple days. And I pray that my recovering over the next few months is swift and that I am rebuilt better than ever and that the Lord is with me every step of the way. So, thank you everyone who has been praying for me and who will continue to pray for me. And I will update you in a few days when I’m feeling better.

Hi, it’s Shannon from Texas and I need you guys to help me pray. I have got myself into a little situation. I met a girl a while back in a work situation and I may have called in to pray for her, she had been, was confiding in me, I know the Lord sent her to me because she had been sexually assaulted, sexually abused in church growing up. Brutally violated, raped right before I had met her and she was, you know suicidal, had been you know, through a lot of things. And I know that the Lord, of course sent her to me. And then recently she called me on Easter, didn’t have anywhere to go and I’ve always felt that the Lord has told me, you know, when I give you, you know, things, they’re not yours, they’re mine to give. So, I was out, hesitation, said you could stay for a little bit and now she’s been with me for a couple of days and I am so beyond overwhelmed. She, you know, I knew her personality but I am just so beyond overwhelmed because of her personality. Because it reminds me of a lot of those years that my son was so elevated and it’s so triggering to me, the loudness, the talking, the drama/trauma all the time. It’s like, what have I got myself into. And, I just, I’m losing it and I’m like, how’s this ministering, how’s this helping her. And now, I’m getting to the point where I’m falling apart and I’m just kind of like, she has nowhere to go, she’s supposed to have somewhere to go coming up soon. So, I can’t start falling apart and then not be to her who God needs her to be and so, now I’m having some personal stresses of my own and starting to fall apart. It’s just a mess, it’s a literal mess. So, I need some prayers. I love you guys. Love you, love you

Judges 1:1-2:9

Judah and Simeon Conquer the Land

After the death of Joshua, the Israelites asked the Lord, “Which tribe should go first to attack the Canaanites?”

The Lord answered, “Judah, for I have given them victory over the land.”

The men of Judah said to their relatives from the tribe of Simeon, “Join with us to fight against the Canaanites living in the territory allotted to us. Then we will help you conquer your territory.” So the men of Simeon went with Judah.

When the men of Judah attacked, the Lord gave them victory over the Canaanites and Perizzites, and they killed 10,000 enemy warriors at the town of Bezek. While at Bezek they encountered King Adoni-bezek and fought against him, and the Canaanites and Perizzites were defeated. Adoni-bezek escaped, but the Israelites soon captured him and cut off his thumbs and big toes.

Adoni-bezek said, “I once had seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off, eating scraps from under my table. Now God has paid me back for what I did to them.” They took him to Jerusalem, and he died there.

The men of Judah attacked Jerusalem and captured it, killing all its people and setting the city on fire. Then they went down to fight the Canaanites living in the hill country, the Negev, and the western foothills.[a] 10 Judah marched against the Canaanites in Hebron (formerly called Kiriath-arba), defeating the forces of Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai.

11 From there they went to fight against the people living in the town of Debir (formerly called Kiriath-sepher). 12 Caleb said, “I will give my daughter Acsah in marriage to the one who attacks and captures Kiriath-sepher.” 13 Othniel, the son of Caleb’s younger brother, Kenaz, was the one who conquered it, so Acsah became Othniel’s wife.

14 When Acsah married Othniel, she urged him[b] to ask her father for a field. As she got down off her donkey, Caleb asked her, “What’s the matter?”

15 She said, “Let me have another gift. You have already given me land in the Negev; now please give me springs of water, too.” So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.

16 When the tribe of Judah left Jericho—the city of palms—the Kenites, who were descendants of Moses’ father-in-law, traveled with them into the wilderness of Judah. They settled among the people there, near the town of Arad in the Negev.

17 Then Judah joined with Simeon to fight against the Canaanites living in Zephath, and they completely destroyed[c] the town. So the town was named Hormah.[d] 18 In addition, Judah captured the towns of Gaza, Ashkelon, and Ekron, along with their surrounding territories.

Israel Fails to Conquer the Land

19 The Lord was with the people of Judah, and they took possession of the hill country. But they failed to drive out the people living in the plains, who had iron chariots. 20 The town of Hebron was given to Caleb as Moses had promised. And Caleb drove out the people living there, who were descendants of the three sons of Anak.

21 The tribe of Benjamin, however, failed to drive out the Jebusites, who were living in Jerusalem. So to this day the Jebusites live in Jerusalem among the people of Benjamin.

22 The descendants of Joseph attacked the town of Bethel, and the Lord was with them. 23 They sent men to scout out Bethel (formerly known as Luz). 24 They confronted a man coming out of the town and said to him, “Show us a way into the town, and we will have mercy on you.” 25 So he showed them a way in, and they killed everyone in the town except that man and his family. 26 Later the man moved to the land of the Hittites, where he built a town. He named it Luz, which is its name to this day.

27 The tribe of Manasseh failed to drive out the people living in Beth-shan,[e] Taanach, Dor, Ibleam, Megiddo, and all their surrounding settlements, because the Canaanites were determined to stay in that region. 28 When the Israelites grew stronger, they forced the Canaanites to work as slaves, but they never did drive them completely out of the land.

29 The tribe of Ephraim failed to drive out the Canaanites living in Gezer, so the Canaanites continued to live there among them.

30 The tribe of Zebulun failed to drive out the residents of Kitron and Nahalol, so the Canaanites continued to live among them. But the Canaanites were forced to work as slaves for the people of Zebulun.

31 The tribe of Asher failed to drive out the residents of Acco, Sidon, Ahlab, Aczib, Helbah, Aphik, and Rehob. 32 Instead, the people of Asher moved in among the Canaanites, who controlled the land, for they failed to drive them out.

33 Likewise, the tribe of Naphtali failed to drive out the residents of Beth-shemesh and Beth-anath. Instead, they moved in among the Canaanites, who controlled the land. Nevertheless, the people of Beth-shemesh and Beth-anath were forced to work as slaves for the people of Naphtali.

34 As for the tribe of Dan, the Amorites forced them back into the hill country and would not let them come down into the plains. 35 The Amorites were determined to stay in Mount Heres, Aijalon, and Shaalbim, but when the descendants of Joseph became stronger, they forced the Amorites to work as slaves. 36 The boundary of the Amorites ran from Scorpion Pass[f] to Sela and continued upward from there.

The Lord’s Messenger Comes to Bokim

The angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bokim and said to the Israelites, “I brought you out of Egypt into this land that I swore to give your ancestors, and I said I would never break my covenant with you. For your part, you were not to make any covenants with the people living in this land; instead, you were to destroy their altars. But you disobeyed my command. Why did you do this? So now I declare that I will no longer drive out the people living in your land. They will be thorns in your sides,[g] and their gods will be a constant temptation to you.”

When the angel of the Lord finished speaking to all the Israelites, the people wept loudly. So they called the place Bokim (which means “weeping”), and they offered sacrifices there to the Lord.

The Death of Joshua

After Joshua sent the people away, each of the tribes left to take possession of the land allotted to them. And the Israelites served the Lord throughout the lifetime of Joshua and the leaders who outlived him—those who had seen all the great things the Lord had done for Israel.

Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of 110. They buried him in the land he had been allocated, at Timnath-serah[h] in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash.

Luke 21:29-22:13

29 Then he gave them this illustration: “Notice the fig tree, or any other tree. 30 When the leaves come out, you know without being told that summer is near. 31 In the same way, when you see all these things taking place, you can know that the Kingdom of God is near. 32 I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass from the scene until all these things have taken place. 33 Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.

34 “Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, 35 like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth. 36 Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors and stand before the Son of Man.”

37 Every day Jesus went to the Temple to teach, and each evening he returned to spend the night on the Mount of Olives. 38 The crowds gathered at the Temple early each morning to hear him.

Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus

22 The Festival of Unleavened Bread, which is also called Passover, was approaching. The leading priests and teachers of religious law were plotting how to kill Jesus, but they were afraid of the people’s reaction.

Then Satan entered into Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve disciples, and he went to the leading priests and captains of the Temple guard to discuss the best way to betray Jesus to them. They were delighted, and they promised to give him money. So he agreed and began looking for an opportunity to betray Jesus so they could arrest him when the crowds weren’t around.

The Last Supper

Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread arrived, when the Passover lamb is sacrificed. Jesus sent Peter and John ahead and said, “Go and prepare the Passover meal, so we can eat it together.”

“Where do you want us to prepare it?” they asked him.

10 He replied, “As soon as you enter Jerusalem, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him. At the house he enters, 11 say to the owner, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room where I can eat the Passover meal with my disciples?’ 12 He will take you upstairs to a large room that is already set up. That is where you should prepare our meal.” 13 They went off to the city and found everything just as Jesus had said, and they prepared the Passover meal there.

Psalm 90-91

Book four (Psalms 90–106)

Psalm 90

A prayer of Moses, the man of God.

Lord, through all the generations
you have been our home!
Before the mountains were born,
before you gave birth to the earth and the world,
from beginning to end, you are God.

You turn people back to dust, saying,
“Return to dust, you mortals!”
For you, a thousand years are as a passing day,
as brief as a few night hours.
You sweep people away like dreams that disappear.
They are like grass that springs up in the morning.
In the morning it blooms and flourishes,
but by evening it is dry and withered.
We wither beneath your anger;
we are overwhelmed by your fury.
You spread out our sins before you—
our secret sins—and you see them all.
We live our lives beneath your wrath,
ending our years with a groan.

10 Seventy years are given to us!
Some even live to eighty.
But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble;
soon they disappear, and we fly away.
11 Who can comprehend the power of your anger?
Your wrath is as awesome as the fear you deserve.
12 Teach us to realize the brevity of life,
so that we may grow in wisdom.

13 O Lord, come back to us!
How long will you delay?
Take pity on your servants!
14 Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love,
so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.
15 Give us gladness in proportion to our former misery!
Replace the evil years with good.
16 Let us, your servants, see you work again;
let our children see your glory.
17 And may the Lord our God show us his approval
and make our efforts successful.
Yes, make our efforts successful!

Psalm 91

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.
For he will rescue you from every trap
and protect you from deadly disease.
He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
nor the arrow that flies in the day.
Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness,
nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
Though a thousand fall at your side,
though ten thousand are dying around you,
these evils will not touch you.
Just open your eyes,
and see how the wicked are punished.

If you make the Lord your refuge,
if you make the Most High your shelter,
10 no evil will conquer you;
no plague will come near your home.
11 For he will order his angels
to protect you wherever you go.
12 They will hold you up with their hands
so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.
13 You will trample upon lions and cobras;
you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!

14 The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me.
I will protect those who trust in my name.
15 When they call on me, I will answer;
I will be with them in trouble.
I will rescue and honor them.
16 I will reward them with a long life
and give them my salvation.”

Proverbs 13:24-25

24 Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children.
Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.

25 The godly eat to their hearts’ content,
but the belly of the wicked goes hungry.

Joshua 24:1-33, Luke 21:1-28, Psalms 89:38-52, Proverbs 13:20-23

Today is the 22nd day of April welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is wonderful to be here with you today as we take our next step forward which actually brings us to the conclusion of the book of Joshua. And, so, tomorrow we will be moving into some brand-new territory. But before we can do that we have to finish well what we’ve started which is the book of Joshua. So, we’re reading from the New Living Translation this week. Joshua chapter 24.

Commentary:

Okay. So, we concluded the book of Joshua today realizing that Joshua lived 110 years before he passed. And we see Joshua gathering the people together in a similar fashion that his mentor Moses had done. He calls the people together and he says something very famous and very dramatic and very very powerful for our own lives. The children of Israel have finally made it. They’re in the promised land. Peace is around them. Prosperity is beginning to bloom. Joshua is in effect telling them that if they forget how they got there then they will be seduced away from who they belong to, which is the Lord God of Israel, and they will forget that they are His people, the children of Israel, and they will forget their covenant and then they will be destroyed. And, so, he tells them you need to choose, right? Choose you this day whom you will serve. Who is it that you’re going to serve? Because you need to make a decision and if it is not the Lord God and choose who you will serve. But as for me and my house, Joshua says, we will serve the Lord. He alone is our God. And of course, the people reaffirm their commitment to the Lord. Of course, they’ve done this before and have been rebellious and stiff-necked and stubborn before. And although Joshua can hear their confession, he’s not going to be there to re-hear it or reinforce it. And, so, he tells them, and this is really important to our lives. Joshua says, you are a witness to your own decision. You have chosen to serve the Lord. So, in other words, Joshua may not be there to see whether or not they honor their commitment. Nobody may be there to see whether or not they honor their own commitment in their own secret lives. They are their own witnesses. They are a witness just as we are. We are a witness of our own decisions. And, so, if we make a declaration, a promise, a covenant, a commitment to the Lord and we mean that and we say that with our mouths but then we go live in any other direction than we are witnesses to what we committed to. And we can become witnesses against ourselves based on our lives. And, so, yes what is happening in the book of Joshua is a dramatic gathering of the people who are reaffirming the covenant, but Joshua’s charge is no less poignant. Choose who you’re going to serve. If it is not going to be God, then choose who you will serve. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.

Prayer:

Father, we invite You into that. It is certainly a poignant scene in the Old Testament, but it is a poignant thing to consider in each of our lives on a continual basis for we are witnesses of what we are declaring. And may what we are declaring about our allegiance and loyalty and surrender to You, be true. And we acknowledge that we will not be able to succeed on our own. We need You even for that. We are utterly dependent upon You for everything. And, so, we need You, but we love You. We humble ourselves before You and we declare with the Israelites, we will serve You Lord. You are the only God and we will serve You. And may that service the evident in our very lives with what we do and say, we pray in the precious mighty matchless name of Jesus. Amen.

Hello DAB brothers and sisters I need prayer. There’s a lot of tension in my marriage and I am on my second marriage. And today I listened to the word. I feel unworthy to be a husband to my wife. This is Steve from Texas. And the word of God today was how I wish you could know the…the way to peace. And I’m at the end of my rope here. I am at the end of my rope. I wish I could know the way to peace in my own marriage and my own life. I have no peace right now. I really need prayer from this end. I listen to Daily Audio Bible most of the day. But if the word does not transform me, it makes me like, Jesus what’s the point? Please pray for me. Pray for Veronica. I’m at the point where I don’t care if we stay together or we…we don’t. Please pray for me. Thank you, DABber. May God peace be with you.

Good morning it’s pastor Vince calling from Bermuda. I want to pray for the sister that called in on the 19th of April referring to herself as the prodigal daughter referring to the text of the prodigal son, the one that left home and now wandering in the wilderness. But I..just by heart pours out to you. I just want to just encourage you that, you know sometimes we have to go through a wilderness just to find God and let God be…touch us and the Holy Spirit renew your spirit. I just want to pray and just reach out to you that God loves you with an everlasting heart no matter what you’re going through, no matter what you may feel. I believe that you’re covering your father and will welcome you with open arms. But you have to trust in God. And I thank you that you’re right now with your grandmother. You just continue just to be faithful. Watch over and just be a blessing. Also, I declare over you that you said that you are working three days. I declare that God will give you 5 days of work in the name of Jesus. Father, we thank You and praise You for my sister. We ask You that You continue to bless her. Keep Your covering over her. Let her know that You love her with an everlasting heart and that Your hand of grace is always before her. Father we thank You for just saturating her with Your love. Let the Holy Spirit fill her, renew her spirit and know that God is in control of every circumstance and every situation. I just pray this blessing over You. You be encouraged and just like God be God one day at a time in Your life. Walk with Him, talk with Him. And Amen in Jesus name. Bless you.

Good morning, everyone it’s Susan from Canada God’s Yellow Flower calling and seven years ago my husband passed away rather suddenly and ever since then it’s been one thing after another without…it seems without any break. Yeah, it’s been a really rough rough seven years. Of course, the pandemic hasn’t helped anybody has it? Usually, I can pray and the tension sort of goes away and…or at least it releases anyways, and I can breathe more easily, and I have that piece. But I found out yesterday another disaster has hit. My nephew has brain cancer and of course he’s not saved, not brain cancer. He has a brain tumor we’re not sure what it’s all about right now. But…but it’s really…I can’t seem to get rid of the tension. So, I’m gonna go outside in the sunshine and go for a walk and praise God. But I think this is kind of the last straw if you know what I mean. So, pray for my family, for salvation for the lost ones especially Kenton who’s got the brain tumor now. And pray for strength for us all. Thank you, my love. I love you all so much and you encourage me so deeply. God bless.
