1 Kings 2:1-3:2, Acts 5:1-42, Psalms 125:1-5, Proverbs 16:25

Today is the 7th day of June welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it is wonderful to be here with you today as we dive into this week and move through it together. Yesterday as we began this week, we …we began a new book called first Kings. And, so, we’re getting moved into that. It…it basically picks up where Second Samuel left off. And, so, we see one more kind of attempt. David’s getting older, his son Adonijah wants to be the king. And, so, he’s trying to like be proactive about it and get some of the powerful people behind him and see if he can’t get himself declared king somehow, which creates quite a bit of drama because David had promised Bathsheba that Solomon her son would become king. And, so, he does…he does, but it’s kind of weird. There’s rival, sort of people looking for the kingdom, but David puts Solomon on the throne. And, once that’s firmly established, like that Solomon has access to the throne room and the throne and is sitting on the throne and the attendants are attending him as the king, once all that gets back to Adonijah and all of his buddies who are wanting him to be king…well…Adonijah gets left alone pretty quickly. Everybody splits in all kinds of directions. They don’t want king Solomon to know. They don’t want any kind of purge to happen, and they don’t want to be involved in it. They don’t want to be purged. Adonijah has to run into the temple and grab the horns for mercy because he doesn’t want to be purged. But Solomon lets him live long as long as he’ll be honorable. And, so, that’s where we are. David, the king is older now, very very old and is about to pass away and has installed King Solomon on his throne. And, so, we pick up the story. First Kings chapter 2 verse 1 through 3, verse 2 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, in the book of First Kings we…well…we’re just getting moved into the book of First Kings and for that matter in the book of Acts we’re pretty much getting moved into the book of Acts as well. So, in first Kings we said goodbye to King David today. And, you know, as we’ve mentioned before sometimes the Bible…like we can be traveling along with a figure for so long that it’s like we know them and then the Bible’s like, “and then they died.” And that’s kind of the story. David has a conversation with Solomon privately about correcting some injustices that still remain and then he died and then Solomon’s on the throne and we saw that this transfer of power was not a smooth transition completely. Nothing was the same after Bathsheba. Like after David took another man’s wife and then had that man killed noth…nothing was ever the same again and his family, or his family line. And, so, David did die but one of the princes, like the eldest son, the prince of Israel also died today, Adonijah, the son of David who had expected to be king and who had…was in the process of trying to get himself declared king. He’s bummed about all this. Solomon is on the throne. He’s disappointed by this and he’s thinking, how can he get some notoriety and how can he, you know, how can he save face here. And he’s got this idea because they had gone and got this beautiful girl, and her name was Abishag. And she's…they searched the whole country for this beautiful girl to come in warm the king’s body. Like king David’s old. So, she’s a beautiful young woman. Normally we know kinda how those things go but that’s, that wasn’t the purpose. It was just for her to serve the king, keep him warm. And, so, she had done that. She was the last one to be the servant and attendant of the king. And, so, Adonijah like, “man, if I can marry her, not only is she beautiful respectable, she’s the last servant of the king. Like, who knows what the king might have whispered in her ear. Like, who knows how this could all turn around if we get everything in line and work it out just right.” Solomon, sort of sees what’s going on and that…and that’s the end of Adonijah. So, Joab the general of David is dead. Adonijah the son of David is dead. David’s personal priest has been sent into retirement. And then that one guy from Shimei who was like…remember when David was fleeing from Saul…from Absalom and there’s this guy throwing rocks at him and throwing dirt at him and throwing dust up in the air and cursing him and cursing him for what he did to the house of Saul. And…well…he’s kinda grounded to Jerusalem. And he doesn’t stay where he supposed to stay. So, he’s dead too. So, Solomon is now pretty much in firm grasp of the kingdom, but he has no idea what he’s gotten himself into. He is in so far over his head and he’s only just beginning to realize that. And we’ll see him realize that and we’ll see the steps that he takes as we continue the journey forward.

And then we flip into the book of Acts what we mostly see is intimidation. What we see is the good news spreading and people being added day by day and…and people holding together everything in common and…but as the gospel is preached there’s this same kind of intimidation that was against Jesus. And, so, there are those who do believe, and they are together, and they are a community, and they are moving forward and then there are also those who believe but are secretive about it because they are afraid of the social repercussions that could be brought against them. And then there are those who flat out do not believe and it’s pretty much the people in charge…like the religious leaders are against the apostles in the same way that they are against Jesus. And, so, they get beaten, they get held in prison. All this kind of stuff happens. And then we met…met this figure at the very end of our reading named Gamaliel and he’s part of the Council. He’s part of the elders of…of Israel, and he mentions a couple of other situations where charismatic type figures who had a following had come in and they were announcing themselves to be this or that or the other but…but they were all killed eventually, and all of their followers scattered. And, so, Gamaliel’s basically like, “if these apostles, if these people who seem to be…that God seems to be performing signs and wonders through, if there’s really nothing to this the same thing will happen. They’ll get killed and their followers will scatter. But if this actually is a move of God there’s nothing any…I mean nothing any of us can do.” That’s not exactly what they believe. Like, the Council is gonna do everything conceivable to diminish this name of Jesus because…well…they…they sorta turn their hand today. They don’t want to be held responsible for the death of Jesus and that’s what the apostles are preaching. And, so, they’re trying to shut this whole thing down as quickly as possible. Gamaliel is an interesting character because like we’ve pretty much read everything about him in the Bible, but he’s a teacher and he teaches students, and he has a very zealous student named Saul. And we’re gonna be meeting him soon.

Prayer:

Jesus, we thank You for another day to be together around this…this Global Campfire, to be together in a safe place that we come to every day, a small little oasis of time that we set aside that is a beautiful place. It is a beautiful place and there are so many days where we’re like, “I’m just too…there’s just too much going on.” But every time we come into this place its calm. Like all of the cares, all of the things that just completely distract us, we have permission to let them go. It’s like they can survive a ½ an hour. We can…we can go get them back and be all full of anxiety if we want but we can have the freedom of a ½ an hour of peace that very well might change our perspective altogether so that we are re-oriented to You. And, so, we are so grateful for the rhythm of life together in community as we move through the Scriptures. And, so, is as our custom almost every day, Come Holy Spirit, this is our ask, this is our request, that You would lead us into all truth and that we would have eyes to see and ears to hear it. We pray this in the mighty and victorious name of Jesus. Amen.

So, that’s available in the Community section.

There’s also the Daily Audio Bible Shop and there are plenty of resources in there, things to write with, like the…well…the stuff that I journal with is in there, the Black Wing pencils. I love journaling with a pencil. I like sharpening a pencil that's…that’s just been the way it’s been for the last few years. I hadn’t written with a pencil since I was in like elementary school for the…for…for much, but I found these pencils and they were made beautifully and the craftsmanship was wonderful and I just fell in love with it and then we just brought them here and we were like, “hey, writing things down in your own hand is a really, really helpful thing. It really helps that get things out, but it also documents things for the future so that we can look back at God’s faithfulness in our lives as we spend a year in the Bible. That’s just one of many resources that are in the Daily Audio Bible Shop. So…so, check that out.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, if this mission that brings the spoken word of God read fresh every day and offered to anyone who will listen to it anywhere on this planet any time of day or night, and to build community around that rhythm so that we know we’re not going through it alone, not just the Bible, but a year of life we’re not alone, we’re on a journey together. Community Prayer and Praise:

Hello Daily Audio Bible my name is Elena and I’m a first-time caller. I’ve been listening to Daily Audio Bible for a little over a year now and just felt really moved to pray for two women in particular. I just heard their prayer request on the June 2nd recording. I’m really sorry, I’m not recalling names, but the first woman called in, she’s a single mom of three and the father of her children doesn’t have the relationship that she’d like him to have with her children. Her father also has dementia, and she lost her mother not too long ago. I lift her up to You and pray that she would receive Your restoration and peace as she seeks You. I…I just feel that that desire to and need to rest in You Lord and that she wants Your help. And I just love her heart for that God, and I know that You see everything she’s been through and that You are there to give her rest. And, so, I pray in this season she would find that peace and that rest in You as You cover her and I pray You would cover her children Lord and as they draw near to You, I know You will draw near to them and that You are a good provider, a good Father and You will give them everything that they need to keep running the race Lord. I pray that she would find encouragement in this season Lord and that she would know You are a God who sees her. And I also pray for restoration in her relationships. I also wanted to lift up the woman who called a couple of people after her. June is a hard month for this woman, and I lift her up to You and pray that she would find peace and she would fight answers in You, the only…You’re the only one who can provide us answers this side of heaven Lord. And, so, I pray that she would find hope in knowing that her mother was victorious in Christ even in death. Thank You…

Hello this is In Love with Jesus asking you to come along beside me and pray for my daughter. I’m asking the Father for divine rescue for her who’s struggling with mental health and physical health problems. This has been going on for many many years and I confess, I get tired, and I get scared as my husband and I are getting older and worry for her living on her own. Her illnesses have created an isolation where she doesn’t have any friends, no longer goes to church yet still loves…loves the Lord but is hoping to…to die by disease. So, she’s constantly seeking out doctors and to do more health investigations. So, I'm…I’m just asking you that if the Lord prompts you that you will be willing to come alongside us as a family. It’s just really really painful. And I just…we just need help. So, thank you for praying. God bless.

Hi this is Victoria Soldier just calling to pray for some of the DABbers. I wanted to pray for Blessings Flow, that she lost many family members and also for other people who have lost family members during this particular time. And I want to also pray for Running Desperately to Jesus and Running Desperately for Jesus and all the…the…the members that she’s lost in June and how it affected her. Just want to encourage you all I want to play with you all that God be with you and…and…and strengthen you because I…when I think of…of June and when I think of this sickness, I remember when I was…went to work one day and told not to even unpack my bag because my mother was dying. And I…and then later on when I finally moved on home, I wind up losing her and I…she died before I got home but God told me that she was gonna die that weekend. The same way I just want to pray with you all that He touch you all like He touched me because I was just so grieved by it, I couldn’t eat but God, this wonderful God touched me and then He began to show me how she got her new body and that new body that she’s smiling because she’s got this new body. Gracious Father I pray for those who lost their loved ones, those who lost them through this pandemic and those who are going through the grieving process. Father I ask that You be with them like You were with me Lord and You just show up and You comfort and You strengthen Lord and You continue to…to show them Your word and that You love them and that You took them and the reason that You took them is it’s time to get their new body and that we one day will get to be with them for us to keep our eyes on You and keep looking for the joy that You have in showing us that You have…

Hi this is Carmen from Canada. I called a few weeks ago asking for prayer for my son who lives on the streets and has multiple health problems and addiction and mental health problems. Anyways, he was found dead yesterday. So, our family’s dealing with that. So, I’m just asking for prayer for strength and for my faith. This is really tough obviously. I’d seen him a lot more than normal recently and a few days ago he had actually asked for his dad to bring him a Bible. But it was a bit too late at night. He was really trying to make a change, you know, showing…talking about going to detox. He had asked me if I would go to church with him once things opened up from COVID. And he’s not gone to church for a long time but he said if I’d go to…there’s a specific church he was interested in going to and would I go with him once the services started again. There’s definitely a lot of spiritual battle going on within him. He thought demons were bothering him and we were able to pray with him and get him anointed with oil when all of this happened within the last month but his fight is over and I know where he is but it’s incredibly sad not to be able to see him for a long time. And, yeah, I just so many prayers for so much of his life and so many answered prayers. So, this isn’t what we expected to happen. Thank you for your prayers.

Good evening Daily Audio Bible this is Blessings Flow in Pennsylvania and wanted to join in prayer for our brother George Powell who is…heard your prayer brother. You are currently incarcerated. Pray that…may your…even though your body’s there may your heart and mind and soul be free. And I wanted to pray over you Isaiah 40 - they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as Eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. And I thank You God that You are good to those who wait. It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. Lord I just pray for grace for our brother as he waits on You. I ask that You’d strengthen him. I ask that You’d remove any shame. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. We love you brother.

6/5/21 DAB Chronological Transcription

Proverbs 7-9

It’s the fifth day of June. I’m Jill. Welcome to Daily Audio Bible Chronological. It’s a joy to be here with you on this journey as we walk through the Bible together daily in chronological order. The Bible is read fresh every single day. Three hundred and sixty five days a year around here. And what an incredible privilege it is to be able to do that. We are in Proverbs right now. We are feasting from these protein packed, powerful nuggets of truth and wisdom and instruction. And it’s good. It’s so, so good. Today we’re reading Proverbs chapters seven, eight and nine. And this is the last day that we’re in the Christian Standard Bible for today.

Prayer:

God, we thank you for these important, relevant scriptures. Instruction, it’s instruction, but it’s also practical living words of advice and wisdom, and we’re so thankful that it speaks to us because we we have all been here. We we all have the tendencies to go along with social norms. And it’s a hard thing to do to swim upstream, to turn around and go the opposite direction and to be mindful that many of your ways are not the ways that come naturally to us. We have to fight. We have to fight for the reminders of the truth. We have to apply the fruit of the spirit and reach for self-control when our tendency is to spew back and hate and the evil and to throw daggers with our mouth full of fiery darts. But we know from your word today that the voice of wisdom rises above. The instruction that wisdom teaches us goes against our human nature or our learned bad behavioral patterns. We know today that the voice of wisdom, she she calls us to righteousness. And so we take her instruction rather than silver, and we reach for knowledge rather than choice gold because wisdom is better than pearls and nothing is more delightful than she. She hates evil and hates pride and arrogance and corrupt speech leads us on a path of evil. Father, we reach for wisdom and understanding. Over all the riches of this world, and that can be so hard to do because we live in a state of comparison where it’s flaunted to us daily what might be our lack, even though we lack nothing. We’re learning that wisdom can be one of the greatest resources. That is underutilized as a believer. Help us to reach for her. Help us to desire her above all else. We thank you that you hear us when we pray. Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

You’re in a hurry or you’re angrily dialing somebody and you couldn’t get those numbers that dialed come back fast enough. We’ve come a long way, haven’t we? I used to….telling on myself. I used to love to prank call people at my grandma’s house. We got pretty good at it, me and Gram. Father, forgive me if I haven’t already repented for that. I’m Jill. That’s gonna do it for me today. I’ll be back with you tomorrow and I look forward to it. Until then, love one another.

Community Prayer Line:

Hi, Jill, this is May 30th. I’m listening to you. And I just have to say that you’re asking if somebody was listening to us, these changes that we have to make and those didn’t even go with today’s reading, but it kind of did because we’re listening to the command and we’re trying to follow Jesus. and wanna be like him. And Lord God, I am looking at Colossians 3:13 on my mirror that says bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another and forgive as the Lord forgives. And I have some anger and some bitterness and me and hurt and to persevere, perseverance must finish the race so that we will be complete and mature and lacking in nothing. James 1:4 these things I’ve been working on. And then I look up and I see I am with you until the end of ages. Matthew 28:20. The Lord is our Savior. He is good. He is gracious. But there are things in my life I need to change and I ask God daily take away the ugliness, or the bitterness, or the hurt that I have and I’m holding onto. Lord, set me free in Jesus name. I just thank Jill for the Holy Spirit that just spoke to her. And Lord, I ask for wholeness and newness. And it is a new day and a new mercy every morning. And you are the awesome God. You are the only one that can do that. So Lord I ask that you help me with those things, help us all with those things that we need to change because nothing is impossible. Nothing is impossible with you. Help us to have our faith and to not doubt that. Lord, I need you and Jesus. Thank you. God bless Jill.

Hello DAB family. My name is Vincent calling from Connecticut. And I can’t believe how many husbands are cheating on their wives. Not wishing to work things out. I am a man, I think I’m a good man. Oh, God won’t provide a wife for me. Or so it seems, and I’m getting towards the end of my hope and faith and. And I’m not sure what I’m going to do, but asking for for prayers to hold on. Life is not supposed to be this hard. That’s not what the book says. God bless you all.

Hi DAB family. This CGCG. I am new since November of twenty twenty. I’m just calling in to thank Jill for her prayer today, May 30th. I just finished listening to it and I believe it was speaking to me. That is exactly what is going on in my life and been going on my life for a long time. I am struggling with stuff. I lost my job and struggling to find work and I’m in my fifties and I am scared. I don’t know where to do and what to do. And I was trying to find something for myself, business for myself but the pandemic has crushed that. And now I am stuck not knowing which direction to go, which leads me to keep on going into repeating old patterns and old patterns coming back up. And even though I shut down some of them, they seem to want to surface back up and especially this one relationship that I keep on shutting down because it’s just putting me on an emotional roller coaster and the more I find the strength to shut it down, the more it want to come back and I don’t know if because my life is weak right now. I’m struggling with depression and anxiety and lack of direction and I’m hurting, really hurting. So I’m just calling to ask for prayer and to ask for prayer to keep praying that God would answer, give some direction. And opens doors, and I don’t miss opportunity, that is, is presented to me anymore. So I am praying for everyone every day and I’m praying for all you guys and just asking for prayer.

This is Pam, His Ransom Soul in New Jersey. Karen, Joyful in Texas, I just heard your prayer request on the May 27 podcast. I feel your pain, sister and I can relate so much to your situation because I have a young adult son and daughter who have turned far away from our Lord and are no longer walking in his ways. And it’s heartbreaking. Let me pray for you, dear one, Father. God, thank you for your healing and restorative power. Thank you. That you never leave us even when we leave you. I come to you, Father, and in Jesus name I ask for deliverance for Karen’s, three children. Deliverance from ungodly lifestyles. Deliverance from the demons of addiction and alcoholism. Deliverance from the spirits of bitterness and indifference. Deliverance from wicked beliefs and practices of the occult. Break through the walls separating these precious ones from you, Lord, and separating Karen from her daughter. Cleanse them from their sins, heal them from their brokenness. Father, make each of Karen’s children hear your voice calling out to them to come to you, to seek you and live. May they surrender themselves to you completely and be restored. Lord, I also ask for the healing and restoration of this mother daughter relationship. Hallelujah that you make all things new in Jesus’ name. Amen.

1 Kings 1:1-53, Acts 4:1-37, Psalm 124:1-8, Proverbs 16:24

Today is the 6th day of June welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is a joy and aprivilege to be here with you today as we open up the threshold and walk into this brand new shiny sparkly new week. And it’s out in front of us and nothing has happened yet and so we’re gonna live into this and yeah, like we say all the time the choices that we make that’ll tell the story of this week. But that’s out in front of us and the scriptures are here to guide our steps. And our next step today’s step leads us into new territory in the Old Testament. So, we concluded the books of Samuel, 1 and 2 Samuel, we concluded 2 Samuel yesterday and so today we will begin the book of 1 Kings. Which kind of means there’s a second Kings as well. And, many ways we’re kinda gonna be continuing the story. It has a little bit of distinction though. Because the first part of this will feel like we’re just continuing the story right out of Samuel but then what were actually gonna do is meet all the different kings of Israel. And for the matter the different kings of Judah and that might not make sense just yet but it will soon enough because this ancient Israel after King Solomon’s reign, who is the next king we will spend time with, after his reign the kingdoms divide and are two different nations with two different kings and so we’ll get to that soon enough. We will meet Solomon in the Book of 1 Kings and Solomon will take us really to the most dramatic and prosperous times, sort of the mountain top of the story that we’ve been reading for long going all the way back into the Book of Genesis. When we met Abram, we’ve been working alongside this family of Abram that was promised many nations would come from him. That his decedents would be as many as the sand on the seashore or the stars in the heavens and there’s an awful lot of them now and this is the same family that we’re walking along side. So, we’ve seen the family develop, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob then his name changes to Israel and then his children are the children of Israel and those twelve children become tribes and we’ve been in Egypt in slavery. We’ve seen God deliver, we’ve seen the wilderness experience, we’ve seen the crossing of the Jordan River and the conquest of the Promised Land. We’ve been through the times of the judges where there was no king in Israel and everyone was doing what was right in their own eyes. And then we saw them demand a king and then we see King Saul and we examined our own lives through his life. And then we’ve seen King David and we’ve examined our lives through his life. Where we pick up here as we begin 1 Kings is the tail end of David’s reign and the ascension of his son Solomon. So, that’s the territory that we are headed into. We’ll read from the Common English Bible this week. 1 Kings chapter 1.

Prayer:

Father we thank You for Your word. We thank You for this brand new shiny sparkly new beginning that we get to encounter every week and every day for that matter and every moment for that matter, if necessary. All things are being made new. And so, every reminder that we have of this is something that can be so valuable to us that we can start over. That all things can be made new. So, come Holy Spirit into this brand-new week. May we see You, may we hear You, may we have eyes to see and ears to hear what You are saying and where You are leading and may we walk with You every step of the way. That we might be available to You for Your service and Your will in this week. Come Holy Spirit we pray in the name of Jesus we ask. Amen.

Prayers and Encouragement:

Hi Daily Audio Bible community this is Sherri Shalom from Spring Hill, Tennessee and I’m calling in response to Running Desperately to Jesus, she left a message this morning, it’s June, I believe it’s June 3rd or June 2nd, it’s June 2nd sorry. And I just…my heart was just moved so much with your loss. I know that when you lose your mom and you lose your day and lose so many people around you that are so precious to you it can just feel overwhelming. And I just…I was praying for you after I heard your message and the Lord just spoke to my heart just really gently and said It’s not that I take people because when we’re on the losing side we feel like they’ve been taken from us but God said I welcome them home. And I don’t know if this is gonna be comforting to you, I hope it is but, Jesus welcomed your mama home and my prayer for the month of June for you is that God would change the month of June from a month of loss and that he would redeem this month for you to lavishness and to lavish blessing. That there would be redemption for you in this month. And I have a scripture that I wanted to read to you that always comforts me in 2 Timothy 2, even when we’re too weak to have any faith left, he remains faithful to us and will help us for he cannot disown us who are apart of himself and he will always carry out his promises to us, that’s 2 Timothy 2 verse 13 in the Children’s Living Bible, I love that version because I’m a child at heart. But I just wanted to encourage you, to…to don’t lose heart. And even when …

Hey everyone this is Matt from Eastern Washington. I called in a couple weeks back just asking for prayers for my struggles with ya know, depression, suicidal thoughts. I called in a couple times, ya know, another time was asking for just prayers for restoration in my marriage. And then I posted on the DAB Friends Facebook page as well ya know, asking for that and kind of describing some of the struggles with my marriage and my wife wanting a divorce. Matt Aldridge on DAB Friends, that was me. Ya know, quickly, I just wanted to say thank God that I was able to find this…this Daily Audio Bible, it’s done amazing things in my life just in the last couple of weeks even. You know, I initially, I’ve only been listening for about a month I was just reading, er listening in through May but I decided I wanted to start over so I jumped back into January and I’ve been powering through that while I’m at work. Fortunately, I have a lot of time to listen to those types of things. Anyway, I’m almost through February it’s just been so amazing listening to all the community prayers and encouragements and all that it’s just…it just knowing that I’m not alone in my struggles. One thing I’ve learned ya know, that’s one of Satan’s greatest tools is making…making us feel alone in our struggles and use shame against us. So, I just thank God for all of you and ya know, everything that you guys have been doing to help me. I’ve heard a couple of your prayers for me and I just wanted to say thank you, I love you guys. I’m doing better, I’m still struggling but I’m running out of time so thank you.

Good morning Daily Audio Bible. How are you? My prayer goes out to those who feels love difficulties calling those who it is really tough on them to really call out and talk about their problems I just want them to know that this is a family that cares, this is a family that loves, this is a family that will pray for you no matter what you’re going through, this is a family that doesn’t judge, this is a family that loves you forever. I just want to tell you, what you’re going through, you’re not alone. And sometimes when you call and you hear people call out your name, people really devote prayers directly to you, it tells you that you’re not alone in this fight. Sometimes you hear people call to talk about the same situations that they go through that lets you identify to know you are not alone in this battle. I just thank you for your life. I just thank you for trusting the Daily Audio Bible for sharing with us. I just want to reach out also to those single parents who, in this time of COVID that it hasn’t been difficult, rathe it hasn’t been easy to take care of children. I just want to go to touch your hearts, to love your children more. I just want to go to bless whatever your hands are laid on, your job, your businesses, I just want to go over to touch you.

Good morning my DAB family it’s Jimmy from the East coast. And I just wanted to call and just be thankful for you and thankful for the prayers in this community and love that is in this community and the love that we have for one another and I remember listening to DAB I’ve been listening for a long time ago, over a decade, probably a year before, after it started. I was pretty young. I just, wow, God is good. And so, I just wanted to just release the love of God, the joy of God over our community and the peace of God over our community and to speak into existence what God has already said we have, he said that we can do right now that just light over the dark places, over the depression and the anxiety and it will no longer be here. Just speak joy, see love for every one and just clarity on those who needs it. Healing to those that are sick and in Jesus name. I’m just so thankful for you guys. Love you guys.

Prayers and Encouragement:

Hey my name’s Andrew I’ve never called in before but I’ve been listening for almost a year now every morning. I really need to ask for prayer, this year I’ve been…I’ve been dating a new girl. And I’m 21 years old so I’m still pretty young and foolish sometimes but I…I know better and this year I kind of strayed away from everything I knew and for some reason I just wanted to ignore it all. And it…this year I kinda just kept getting farther away from God. And I had this pile of…it felt like a pile of sin that’s just kept been…it just been piling up. And I realize the more you let it pile up and hide from that the worse it gets. So, I came clean to her about everything I was hiding and a lot. There…There’s so much, I mean, I don’t deserve…I don’t deserve a lot but I know that God loves me and I want…I want to embrace that and I want to live for him. So, I just want to ask you guys to pray for me. I love you all. Thank you. Have a good day.

Good morning DAB family this is Judy from Georgia today’s Wednesday, June 2nd. And I was just listening to Brian talk about John 21 and I’m going to take these words with me every day now. What is that to you, follow me. This is great because I need this every day when things come up and I get distracted by what somebody else might be saying or doing. So, from this point on that’s what I’m going to say whenever something gets to me and I’m just going to say to myself, what’s that to me and follow Jesus. So, everybody have a great day and bless you all.

Good morning DABers this is Emily from Minnesota. I called in late January and I’m feeling strong enough to call today. I’m just calling on my sons 22nd birthday his 3rd birthday in heaven we lost him to suicide his freshman year of college. I…please continue to lift up my family as you know, each day brings its challenges and we have a lot going on. I would also just want to mention Running Bear and Running Desperately to Jesus you both touched my heart. As I get it, I know where you’re at, our family is…is in it. And I just look to Jesus to get through it, it’s so hard, it’s so hard. This world can be really tough. And Lord Jesus I just want…I just want to lift everyone up to You. You know our heart, You know our brokenness, please bring us joy moments. They’re there and we just need to see’em. Help us to see Your grace, feel Your peace and continue to know Your mercy. Please be near to us who’ve experienced loss and just be with everyone whose experiencing any sort of pain both inside and outside. We lift up our youth Lord Jesus they need light and hope. Thank You for all You do for everyone. Thank you DABers, love you guys. Bye.

Good morning DAB family this is Gwenny from Texas. It’s Wednesday, June 2nd and I want you all to know that I continue to pray for you all in spirit. But there was one prayer request that I heard this morning that I want to lift up a young…a lady she said her name was Running Desperately to Jesus and…I love that name. And so, Father I just want to lift her up because today…tomorrow is her mother’s anniversary, the day she passed and I want you to know also this lady tomorrow’s my son’s anniversary, the day he passed, he passed on June 3rd 2010 from a motorcycle accident so I know what you’re feeling tomorrow cause I’m gonna be feeling the same for my son. And so, I just lift you up right now. Father, I just lift up this lady to You who is going to feel…is feeling so much pain in June cause she lost her mother on June 3rd and she’s lost her father and other relatives and she’s feeling so much pain. So, Father I just ask that You comfort her right now because I’m gonna need that same comfort too Lord tomorrow remembering my son. So, Father, Your mercies Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit and that’s in Psalms 34:18 so Father I just pray for her I just lift her up and to let her know that I’m gonna be thinking of her tomorrow as well. So, Lord give her comfort, give her peace and let her know that where her mother is, is with you and that she can feel the joy and that she will see her again just like I will see my son again. I pray this in Jesus holy name. God bless you. And know that we love you at DAB. Thank you.

Hello from beautiful Cincinnati, Ohio this is your brother Daniel Johnson Jr. let’s throw a quick log onto the Global Campfire shall we. Okay, so everyone of us right now, of course today is June 2nd Wednesday, we just finished wrapping up the gospels. And what a great story that is but just from the comments today my heart is heavy you know, hurting for so many of us. Every one of us is going through something really big right now. My dad is in treatment for his alcoholism. He’s not happy about being there but he’s there. And he’s ah…we have a family meeting today and it’s gonna be heated. He’s not gonna be happy about having to stay there or some of the things that are going to be said but there…it’s a good thing and I know that God is working through him and I pray that God reaches down into to expose that root cause of what’s going on so that it could be dealt with. So many other callers today that expressed and were going through so much loss but Running Desperately to Jesus, your call was the last one that I heard today and I just started weeping for you because I can’t even imagine the loss that you’re feeling. I know that everything that you’re feeling is normal and it’s okay and that’s alright. Maybe you get a chance to write out this month…you know, taking some time to write out this month some of that unspoken emotional communication that you wished that you could have shared but you get that out of your system and then to share just, you know, those things that you wished you could have said, maybe that’ll help. God Bless you all from beautiful Cincinnati, Ohio this is Daniel Johnson Jr. brother I love you so much, make it a great day.

2 Samuel 22:1-23:23, Acts 2:1-47, Psalm 122:1-9, Proverbs 16:19-20

Today is the 4th day of June welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it is great to be here with you today. It is a joy and a privilege every day. Which is why I feel like I say it most every day. Great to be around the Global Campfire with you as we take this next step forward through the scriptures. We are reading in the Old Testament from the book of 2 Samuel and we’re actually rounding the corner on 2 Samuel, we will complete the books of Samuel, 1st and 2nd Samuel, in tomorrow’s reading and move forward from there. And then when we get to the New Testament today we are just moving into the Book of Acts, we’ve just completed the gospels and so we are beginning to read the story of the formation of the church and the stories of the early church. So, let’s dive in, we’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible this week. 2 Samuel chapter 22 verse 1 through chapter 23 verse 23.

Commentary:

Okay, so Acts chapter 2 is a very famous passage of scripture because well it’s a flash point on many levels, like we’ve just read it all and Peter gave…gives a sermon…so okay Peter preaches a sermon and people are all together but monumental things happen. So, the people are all together right, and one accord praying and waiting and the Holy Spirit falls upon them. And as its portrayed in the Book of Acts, tongues of fire are present and they begin to speak in other languages, other languages that people can understand. So, generally speaking in another language, like speaking in tongues this is known as glossolalia, so what’s happening in the Book of Acts is known as xenolalia that’s the ability, like, the ability to speak in a language that you don’t know but actually is a human tongue, an actual language that people understand which is what we see in the Book of Acts. It’s a spectacular scene, amazing, and so people begin to speak the good news in languages that they don’t know but people outside are hearing this and it’s in their mother tongue wherever they’ve traveled from to Jerusalem. And so, a crowd begins to gather because what do, I mean…it draws a crowd and it did draw a crowd and so there are people that are listening and then there are also people that are observing, they’re listening but they’re observing trying to reason what is going on how are these people speaking in all of these different languages telling this good news and they seem to be Galileans so they probably can’t write much less speak it and all these different languages. And so, a crowd is there that’s when Peter steps forward and presents his first sermon and this gospel story in which three thousand people want to follow Jesus and are baptized. And that, I mean that is also a miraculous thing, on a couple of levels. First of all, that really is this flashpoint that we could look to in the scriptures and say “there, that’s the birth of the church, after Jesus’ ascension” but three thousand people converting at one time and wanting to be baptized, that’s a lot of people in a busy city like that, like Jerusalem. And so, where do you baptize three thousand people, that’s something that people, scholars have kind of mused about over the years, where could this happen? One primary candidate would be right at the temple, like on the temple, like at the temple steps. Because this is where they began meeting every day and there are ritual mikvah, ritual baths, baths of purification there, you have to go into the temple clean right. Remember when we read all about the Mosiac Law about clean and unclean and how you achieve clean. So, they would bath before going into the temple complex into God’s presence in any way. And so, many baptisms could certainly happen there and so that’s one of the leading thoughts that the birth of the church happens around the Southern Temple steps in the Mikvah and this is where they met and they would eat in each other’s homes and this is the birth of the church so this is pretty monumental. I mean we might have read it a hundred times and be like, yeah okay, I’ve read this story but the reverberations of what we read today are what we experience in our world today and in our Christian faith. This is sort of that flash point moment that’s starts this era, the church era that we’re in and so definitely should give that honor. And we can look at the reading today and be like man, ya know, harmonious, it’s beautiful, it’s wonderful let’s go back to that time and as we’ve talked about before we’ve got more to read, they had their share of struggles to deal with and sort through and argue about and come to consensus on because they were human beings just like we are. And so, through the course of the rest of this year we’ll have plenty of opportunity to talk about some of these things as we come to them because they give us insight into our own motives and our own heart which is what the bible does for us so often. Bringing to the surface what’s true, what’s really going on. And the bible just looks us straight in the eye and we get to look right back and decide is this the path I want to be on or do I need to repent, do I need to go in a different direction. And so, this is an exciting time in the Bible as we continue our journey.

Prayer:

And so Holy Spirit we read that You were poured out upon on early brothers and sisters and that hasn’t stopped You are still with us and among us and within us. Still leading us into all truth, still guiding our steps, still leading the way if we will pay attention, if we will watch for Your lead and instead of inviting You along as an add on to the events of our lives that we get to humble ourselves and participate in anything that You are doing and make that what are lives are about, what You are doing. So, as we read the stories of our spiritual ancestors we invite You to fall upon us, to lead us into all truth, to guide our steps, to challenge our motivations, and to lead us deeper into Jesus. And we pray this in His name. Amen.

Of course, if you’re using the Daily Audio Bible app you can find out what’s going around here from inside the app as well. There’s a little drawer icon in the upper left-hand corner. So, whether via the web or via the app you access things like the Community section which is where the Prayer Wall lives and get connected and stay connected and we encourage that all the time because prayer really is the glue that connects us. Of course, the scriptures are the glue but they inform us and they instruct us and they guide us each in our own individual stories but us being willing to pray for one another to come together and share this patch of history together, this is what glues us together. And so, the Prayer Wall is certainly a primary place for that so be aware of it.

Prayers and Encouragement:

Hi DAB family, this is Dawn Rising in Michigan and this call is for George Powell. I understand that you’re calling from jail and this is your second time around there. But luckily, we serve an amazing God who is in the business of second chances, third chances, a hundred million chances, because He forgives us new every day. So, you’re asking for prayer George and I am praying for you. I’m praying that you can forgive yourself so you can move forward from whatever binds you, whatever has gotten you back into jail I rebuke it, I denounce anything evil that is attacking you. I pray for restoration in your relationships and with your family and I believe this for you that things will change. Just forgive yourself first start there. Alright, well I love you and we’ll be praying for you, take care, bye.

George Powell this is Lakita Ward from Vanet, Oklahoma. I’ve never been in prison but I know what it’s like to be lonely. I know what it’s like to read the word of God and feel like it’s not even penetrating your heart. And I just want to lift you up. Father, I just lift up George and I pray Father, Lord, God that You would just minister to him Father, Lord, that You would just meet him in his loneliness, meet him in the situation that he’s in. Lord, as he repents to You of his failures Lord, God, I just pray that You would restore him. I just pray that You would encourage him Father, Lord, and bring those around him that know You and call You by name Father, Lord, that they might help lift him up Lord, God, as they lifted up Moses’ arms. I pray Father, Lord, God, for Your love and Your tenderness to be upon him Father, Lord, God. You know our hearts, You see our failures, You know our sins and I just pray that You’d surround Him with Your love and Your mercy Lord even now that You would lift him up Father, Lord, God, even now that You would restore him. Even now Father, Lord, that you’d fill his heart with gladness. I just pray Father, Lord, God that You would continue Lord, to lead him down that path of righteousness that only You can give him Father, Lord, Jesus. Let him remember that You are his closest, just the mention of his name Father, Lord, God, that at the mention of Jesus Christ that You’re right there Father, Lord, God, being with him and blessing him and ministering to him. I thank you in Jesus name.

Hello DAB my name is Matthew, from Long Beach, California. And I just had a…had a feeling to call in today. I’m a first-time caller, long time listener. And I’ve just been…it’s been heavy on my heart to…to be in community with other believers since COVID and everything I haven’t really found a church home. This is kind a…I’m new to this city too in Long Beach so and I haven’t had a church family although I’ve listened to the DAB almost regularly, daily I…I’ve never really plugged in to the community and it…and I…I need you guys and I love you guys and I want…I want to be involved and I want to pray and I really work on my prayer life for others. Sometimes I feel like my…my prayer life becomes centered on myself and I know that, that’s definitely not, ya know, the heart of…the heart of a servant so just pray for blessing on everybody to have a great day and to know that God has a purpose and a plan for your life. I also want to pray for George Powell. Hey brother, I just pray for encouragement and God will empower you and strengthen you and show you that sometimes the path is difficult but God always has a victory for us through all the ups and downs, through difficulty, God has a plan and sometimes when he’s trimming off weight from your life it feels heavy, we don’t understand it but it’s often because God is getting ready to bloom us and to introduce new people and new friends and new relationships into our life. Yeah, so, everybody be blessed.

Mark A. Brandon here from just East of beautiful Cincinnati. Let’s roll Holy Spirit with a DAB prayer. Father, let us not harden our hearts as you turn our junk into treasure. Make us blind to the temptations of this world as we are transformed into kingdom seekers. We would rather be slaves to you Jesus than serve our selfish motives any longer. Big hearted, radiant Father, send encouragers into our path, we know of one but believe there are many. Protect us Father as a big brother protects his little sister and may God’s smile always be upon us. In Jesus name. Amen.

Hello my DAB family, it’s Pam His Ransom Soul in New Jersey. Byron from Florida I heard your call on the May 28th podcast, you asked about your wife’s health concerns and her upcoming surgery which will no doubt be over with by the time this airs. So please know I’m praying for her, for you, for the doctors and surgical team and for the surgery to be successful. And Byron your wife meeting that gentlemen at the cemetery was such a God orchestrated and ordained encounter which I believe was to encourage and reassure the both of you that God loves you, He’s with you, He’s faithful and that He’s in control. For the man who called in after Byron asking for prayer for his wife Tanya who’s been battling Leukemia for ten years, is now in the hospital and not doing well. Brother, I’m praying for your stamina and strength as you care for your children. I’m praying for Tanya’s complete healing. I’m praying for God to find you all a new home and I’m asking Him to make a way for you to spend time with Tanya in the hospital. Finally, to the woman who called in after both of these men but didn’t leave her name, your words of profound encouragement were perfectly timed encompassing their two phone calls in this truth: throughout our challenges and our ups-and-downs in life, always keep trusting in God.

2 Samuel 20:14-21:22, Acts 1:1-26, Psalm 121:1-8, Proverbs 16:18

Today is the 3rd day of June welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian, it’s a joy and a privilege and an honor and all good things to be here around the Global Campfire with you today. As we take the next step forward we are still working our way through 2 Samuel in the Old Testament, so that will be the next step forward. When we get into the New Testament reading today we will be entering brand new territory as we have concluded the gospel the story of Jesus’ life and ministry yesterday. And so now we kind of move into the church era and what happens next after Jesus ascension as we begin the Book of Acts but we’ll talk about that in a few minutes. First, we need to read from 2 Samuel. We’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible this week. 2 Samuel 20:14-21:22.

Introduction to the Book of Acts:

Okay so, here we are at the threshold of a brand-new book but also the threshold of brand new territory. The Book of Acts will reveal to us what happened after Jesus ascending back to the Father and the voice, the writing voice in Acts will be somewhat familiar with us because the author of Luke is also the author of Acts. And so, some would call like Acts: 2 Luke or other scholars combine them together: Luke-Acts. But either way we are kind of in the second volume of this writing the Gospel of Luke, of course, dealing with Jesus life and ministry and death and resurrection and then Acts, kind of picking up with the story and continuing on forward after…after Jesus ministry. So, one thing we’ll see in the Book of Acts as we get going is that it mostly deals with 2 specific people; it’s the Acts of the Apostles but there are 2 specific people that are dominant in the Book of Acts. The first we’ll meet first, the Apostle Peter, who we’ve all met in the gospels. But he goes through quite a transformation when the Holy Spirit is sent, as Jesus promised. And then after the ministry of Peter we’ll begin to see a zealot Pharisee named Saul who is determined to wipe the name of Jesus from the thoughts and hearts and lips of anyone who would dare speak it. And he’s in the process of doing all of this when he meets Jesus and his name is changed from Saul to Paul and we know him as the Apostle Paul. So, we’ll meet the Apostle Paul in the Book of Acts, kind of the second half of the Book of Acts, we’ll deal with Paul’s ministry and then after that we move into some of the letters and we’ll be camping out with Paul for quite some time. This is the beginning of what we know as the church. Like the capital C church, the body of Christ. This begins what we would know theologically and historically as the church era and we’re still in that era. And so, what we have is a really fantastic opportunity. Because we can look all around at all the traditions of the Christian faith and all the different ways that people believe and all the different things that they focus upon and all the different things that we battle about and so often when I hear those kind of discussions myself, they’re usually included with some kind of dreamy desire, like ‘I wish we could just go back to when it all began, I just wish we could go back to the Book of Acts when it was all really going on’, well here’s our chance, we’re going back to where it all began. And if we’ll look very closely, just pay attention, we’ll see that some of the rose-colored glasses that we have on… have on about that time, they need to be taken off. It wasn’t as if they didn’t have disagreements or struggles. So often when we’re referring to the time of Book of Acts and we want to go back to that early church time, it’s like, because that’s because it was perfect. It’s never been perfect. And they had very similar struggles to the kinds of struggles that we still have with each other. And so, let’s pay attention to that as we move forward, as we go forward in the New Testament and examine all these things because there’s so much there for us. So much to reshape us and reshape our thinking but also, so much for us to examine in ourselves and in the world we live in. So, with that we begin the Book of Acts today chapter 1.

Prayer:

Father we thank You for Your word. We thank You for bringing us through all the different territories, all the different sections that we can see. And so, we thank You for the gospels. And now as we turned the page and have moved into the Book of Acts we look forward with great, great anticipation for all that You will reveal and speak to us through the scriptures and all of the growth and transformation that is yet in front of us. And so, as we seal this day we take to heart the voice of wisdom at every crossroads telling us which way to go, she says pride comes before destruction and we know that, we can even quote that but we don’t think about it a lot. Pride precedes destruction. And so, we humble ourselves under Your mighty hand and ask Holy Spirit that You lead us away from Pride. We don’t want to sign up for destruction and so, come Holy Spirit and lead us on a narrow path, a humble path that leads to life. In the name of Jesus we ask. Amen.

Prayers and Encouragement:

Hi Daily Audio Bible family my name is Enee, I live in Nigeria and I’ve been listening to the DAB for a year and a half now, I think. The encouragement I get from here is so wonderful and I’m so thankful for it. I’m calling today to ask for prayers, I just need priority in all areas of my life. I really pray for discipline to be stronger in my faith. There are so many moments where I go through, it’s almost go through a rollercoaster with my faith and with my emotions and I know we don’t worship God based on our emotions but when you’re not in the place to worship God you almost, to like, oh I don’t feel like, so you don’t want to do anything. I also just need prayers against temptation it’s a daily struggle and I’m just needing to be better. I want to thank Brian and Jill for everything that they do and the whole community honestly like it is very life changing for me and I’m so thankful. So, everybody have a good day. Oh, and today is the 29th, I just finished today’s podcast. And I pray everybody has a good day. Bye.

Hi, everyone my name is Kalolito’s I’m calling from Irving, California please pray for my soccer coach, Coach Andy Barnes and his family. My coach has cancer. Please pray God make him well again. Thank you. Bye.

Hi Daily Audio Bible, this is Rebecca from Michigan it’s May 31st, Memorial Day. You know what, I wanted to just pray because I have been really stressed with anxiety and it paralyzes my mind and does stuff to me. And, like this woman at my job came up to me and got in my face and told me I should find another job. Somebody I work with, I feel like I’m being harassed and bullied at my job and I’m kind of getting tired of it cause it’s been going on for years. I want prayer for this to just stop. Please pray for me that the harassment and bullying would stop. I usually don’t complain about this because what it is (inaudible) still is. So, I don’t know why people harass me and bully me it seems like all my life has a curse, I don’t know why, maybe because I don’t stick up for myself enough. But um, I’m kind of getting tired of it so, could you just pray for me that God would just touch my mind and help me get through this, I want to find some friends and friends to talk to. Thank you, have a nice day, bye.

Hi, this is Trinity in Southern California and today is June 1st of 2021 and I was listening today to the message and all the prayer request. And, I heard a gentleman call in today and he’s back in jail and having…it sounds like he’s having a real hard time with life in general with his family and everything and it just shattered my heart and I really felt the need to call in and pray. So, dear Heavenly Father, please, I lift up this gentleman to You and his family and ask that You heal wounds God and that You relieve the pain and the stress of choices that have been made God pray God that You would shine through in all of this no matter what happens God that Your will be done and that the glory be to you God. That You will bring good of this God. I ask that you bring comfort God, comfort to everybody involved in this situation. I can’t imagine the hurt and the fear that everybody must be feeling right now God. Please, just comfort them and heal them God and know that…let them know God that all things that happen can be turned to You God and will be turned to You God. In Jesus name. Amen.

This is Vye from the farm. I wanted to reply to the fellow who called about the difficulty of achieving forgiveness. I’ve found in my own life, the first thing is to, when I can’t forgive well, look to see what needs to be healed within myself and from that healing, after that I can begin to forgive. I find I may need to be healed of envy of jealousy, wounds to my own self-esteem due to my own pride. Wounds from feeling that I have been cheated or slighted, which again can go to my own pride and my own insecurities. My lack of understanding and realizing I have put expectations on others without remembering that they also are sinful and that they cannot be perfect and that I need to get out of my sense of betterment and reduce my expectations of others and realize that they are just people. Sometimes it’s lack of insight and realizing I need to be healed of perceived wrongs but look first, if you can’t forgive, look first at yourself and ask God to heal you, to show you where you need healing and as that healing comes then turn to the task of forgiving others. I pray that these words are helpful.

2 Samuel 19:11-20:13, John 21:1-25, Psalms 120:1-7, Proverbs 16:16-17

Today is the 2nd day of June welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it is great to be here with you today like it always is. It is always a good time to be around the Global Campfire together, always a good time to take the next step forward together. And, so, let’s do that. Today’s a big step because it’s the last step in the Gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and today we will complete the gospel of John, which means that tomorrow we will move into brand-new territory in the book of Acts. So, congratulations on that. When we finish today’s reading and mark it off in in the Daily Audio Bible app, we’ll get our Gospels badge and will continue making progress as we complete all the different regions of the Bible, all the different sections. But before we can conclude the book of John, we need to take the next step forward in second Samuel. It’s been a pretty tricky time for King David as we know now. So…so, Absalom took over the kingdom there for a second and was king. He died in battle and now…so you would think…well…this will bring David back but that’s not how it works. Like these are tribes. They have leadership they talk it over. And, so, that’s what’s going on. Second Samuel chapter 19 verse 11 through 20 verse 13.

Commentary:

Okay. So, we concluded the gospel of John today and John ends really beautifully, back in the Galilee where we spend so much time…where we’ve spent so much time in the Gospels, basically since the beginning of the year. And, so, familiar territory for us. And it’s like a number of the disciples have gone back to the Galilee and have resumed, at least in part, their trade of fishing because they’ve been fishing when Jesus encounters them and cooks them breakfast. And it’s just…there’s a place by the Sea of Galilee that commemorates this. It’s a little kind of chapel built on a rock where this traditionally happened. It’s called Peter’s primacy. But I think of this place because it’s one of the places where you can get right down to the water and…and sort of see a charcoal fire…a little charcoal fire on the shore and Jesus cooking breakfast for His friends. And there’s a like a repeat of one of the miracles, right? When Jesus first called some of these disciples it was in this way, like “cast your nets on the other side.” And if we remember, Peter was involved in that. And when they got the big hall of fish, we find Peter down on his knees saying, “depart for me. I’m a sinner. Like I can’t be in your presence. You’re”…I mean that’s when Jesus calls him to be a disciple. And those that were involved in that, they just left the fish there, like this big bounty that was going to set them up for some kind of financial gain, or maybe finally to get out of debt or whatever. They just left it and followed Jesus. And, so, it’s really beautiful here at the end of the story, that Jesus gives them all those fish again and cooks them breakfast. And then there is the scene where Jesus asked Peter three different times about his love. And by the third time Peter’s feeling sad about it. Like, “why do you have to keep asking me? You know I love you.” And there are some scholars and theologians that imagine here that Jesus is intentionally restoring Peter. Like, intentionally. It’s a three-time thing. Like Peter denied Him three times. And, so, Jesus is going back into each one of those times and saying, “do you love me? Feed my sheep.” But as we wind down and get to these final sentences, Jesus says something incredibly poignant, very very poignant in the context of the situation, but also profoundly important and poignant in our own lives. Jesus explains to Peter that there will be time in his life where he’ll be led to where he doesn’t want to go. And the gospel of John explains to us that this is…this is Jesus way of telling Peter how he…what kind of death he will die. And, so, Peter taking in that news does such an interesting thing, something that we all do very often, so very often. Peter looks around and he looks at John and he says to Jesus, “what about him Lord? What about him. Like, if this is gonna happen to me. What about him?” And Jesus answer is the poignant thing. “If I want him to remain until I come what is that to you? As for you, follow me.” And it’s interesting and important for us to realize that those are the last words recorded in the Gospels from Jesus lips. “What is that to you?” If we could ask ourselves that question every time we’re sucked into comparison or every time we feel like we’ve got harder…got it harder than somebody else, or that our path is more difficult or challenging than somebody else, every time we get pulled into trying to get an identity out of each other as compared to each other. If we could just remember the last words of Jesus recorded in the Gospels. “What is the hat to you?” The answer to that question is an important one. “What is that to you? As for you, follow me.” And that encapsulates so much of what we need to know. Our job isn’t to worry about what everybody else is doing and what might happen everybody else. Our job is to follow Jesus. Truly, I don’t know a more fitting way to and our time in the Gospels than that I…it’s so poignant and something that we can carry along with us because it didn’t just happen randomly. These are the last things Jesus says in the Gospels. And, so, we can remember this. “What is that to you?” Man…if we go…if somebody steals our parking place today when we’re trying to get groceries, what is that to you? If you walk through the front door and somebody says something that you don’t like and it could cause an argument, what is that to you? You follow me. Maybe somebody does something that seems like…like it’s political at work, like they’re trying to get something or diminish us in some way or take something, take some territory or project or whatever. What is that to you? You follow me. You see how this works. There is no telling the amount of conflict we can simply sidestep because it’s nothing to us. It doesn’t change anything. It has no power at all other than we want to pick up an offense and go into battle in some sort of way. But really what is that to you? You follow me. And, so, let’s carry that around…maybe for the rest of our lives. Maybe we put this into practice, and this is what we do. This is the question that we immediately ask ourselves as soon as that anger or whatever emotion arises within us. What is that to you?

Prayer:

Jesus, first off…first off, we thank You for the example of Your life in the Gospels that has given us a clear view of what we’re supposed to look like and for that matter what humanity is supposed to look like. We thank You for that. It is irreplaceable. We thank You for telling us the truth and leading us into the truth. We thank You for Your patience and kindness with us, beyond…vastly beyond what we deserve. And we thank You for this counsel, as we end the Gospels – “You follow me. You follow me.” This…this is what we’re supposed to be doing. What is that to You?” So often it just helps us realize the distractions that we just keep getting ourselves into and we are supposed to keep our eyes on You and follow no matter what. And, so, forgive us for the times that we’ve been distracted, which is most of the time. But we’re learning, we’re growing, we’re being transformed. You are changing us. These things are changing. We are being renewed. We are being made to new again. And, so, come Holy Spirit and continue this work as we continue our journey through the Bible we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hey DABbers, it’s Kera from Denver. Today is my daughter’s 13th birthday. At the beginning of my pregnancy my boyfriend and I separated. In distress I started seeing a psychiatrist. I admitted honestly that I had used meth once at the beginning of pregnancy. They reported me. I was honest with the child authorities then my boyfriend and I reunited. I was clean the rest of my pregnancy, did all prenatal visits. We joyfully anticipated and prepared for our baby’s arrival. In the hospital the day she was born everything was perfect. Seeing her father hold our baby, I had never before experienced the inexplicable contentment joy and togetherness as I did in that moment nor quite since. Then a CPS team came into the room and insisted I could not leave the hospital with my baby. Complete love was replaced with complete devastation, unfathomable destruction of my heart and spirit. My tears flowed like dark waterfalls. We went home without our baby. I didn’t realize there was supposed to be follow up with CPS during the pregnancy. I had not heard from anyone. Right away a family took the baby from the hospital and ended up adopting her. I have had no contact with my daughter or her family. Being saved by Jesus nearly four years ago, I now know my true identity as God’s child. I know God has always been with me even through extreme heartbreak. I know God is with my daughter too. I hope to meet her someday. But for now, I have peace knowing that God does love me and that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose. Amen.

Hey good morning Daily Audio Bible family this is Blessings Flow in Pennsylvania and this morning it’s Memorial Day weekend. I just wanted…in the US…I just wanted to say that I appreciate you all, I appreciate this community, I appreciate this ministry. I’m just grateful this morning. And I wanted to thank all of you who prayed for me. My prayer was request was played at the beginning of February for a friend of ours Rosa who lost both of her parents a week apart, you know, a week after they had come here to visit from Mexico. And it was very devastating for the family. And I just want to thank everyone for praying. The funeral was actually toward the end of April. So, it took a little bit of time but they’re doing better. And I just hadn’t called myself personally. After that happened with Rosa and going about my life I actually lost about four or five family members and friends unexpectedly this spring. So, I’ve just been going through some grief and processing, but the whole time I have stayed listening to the DAB and the DABC and it’s really been a blessing just to hear the prayers and praises and to hear the word. So, I just wanted to check in and just say how much I love you, I love this community and the Lord is faithful. So, blessings to all. Blessings Flow in Pennsylvania.

Yes, this is Whitney I’ve just started listening to Brian and Daily Audio Bible this year. I’ve found it really helpful because I have really hard times letting what I read sink in. So, it helps me to have it read to me. So, I’m very thankful for that. I am asking for prayer for panic attacks, anxiety, depression. I’ve dealt with this a lot in my life. I lost my mom in 2015. My dad is currently in Hospice care for dementia, and we do…don’t know how much longer we have left with him. And I’m a single mom of three. And their dad just is not in their lives the way he should be. So, if you can please just cover me and my family in your prayers. And I know that God will work it all out and I know that everything works for His good and His glory. And I just pray that you give me strength to hold on through this storm, the storm that has been continuously brewing it seems like since I was 15 and I’m now 39. Just please lift us up. Thank you. And I thank you Brian for this opportunity for this podcast. Thank you.

Hi everyone, this is Victory in Christ calling from Corvallis OR. This is my first year with the DAB and my first-time calling in. And I just…this community has been such a blessing in my life. And one of the things that I really just felt compelled to share is just how incredibly faithful just I’ve seen you guys be just in your prayers just in all of this…the incredible trials and storms that people are walking through, just the horrible situations or whatever it is, just how faithful all of you guys have been just remaining in the word each and every day and just staying in prayer and staying connected with this community. And it’s just really been so incredible just to see that faithfulness and just that continuing to just rely on God through it all. And I just wanted to say to all of you that the Lord hears your prayers. He hears it and He is working everything for…for your good and for His glory. And I’m just so grateful for all of you. I also have a prayer request. I have a friend, my best friend actually, and she’s not a Christian. And we’ve been friends for years and I’ve tried to, you know, to share Christ with her several times but every time I do I just feel this wall just kind of go up. And I haven’t been able to see her much this year just with COVID and just school and everything going on and there’s not much of a chance for us to hang out or see each other for a while. So, I just pray that God just moves and that He can just show her who He is. So, thank you guys. Have a great day.

Good morning DABbers. This is Running Desperately to Jesus also Staying Connected to Jesus. I will try and get through this. I just ask that my sisters and brothers in Christ lift me up. June is a very difficult time for me. My mother died on June 3rd. She and my brother had the same birthday. His name was Taylor. He committed suicide. My father’s birthday is June 18th. He died six months before my mother died. Then I have an aunt that died in June. So, June is a really difficult time for me. I become snappy. I cry all the time. I have little patience. But I’m reaching out to you because I know prayers will bring me through. I know that God will sustain me, but right now it’s just like I want to shut down. I ask God continuously why He took my mother. But I do know the reason. She had pancreatic cancer and it’s selfish of me to have wanted her to stay. She was a strong woman in Christ. She was prepared for her…her transition. I was there with her through her whole walk of being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. So, I’m just asking that my brothers and sisters lift me up. Running Desperately to Jesus also Staying Desperately Desperately connected to Jesus.

2 Samuel 18:1-19:10, John 20:1-31, Psalm 119:153-176, Proverbs 16:14-15

Today is the 1st day of June welcome to the Daily Audio Bible, I’m Brian it is wonderful to be here with you today as we greet a brand-new month, the 6th month of the year and the 152nd day of our journey through this year together and through the bible together so, well done, well done friends. We’ve been around this Global Campfire 152 days now and we’re well into our year and what a year. The scriptures have spoken some significant things into our personal lives I’m sure, definitely into my personal life. But just also into humanity just into the things that we see around us it’s so interesting to see that so many of the underlying things that we can see in our world right now have been underlying things in the world for a long time, they’re…they’re human things and our Father, our Creator who created us in His image pursues our hearts at every turn. And that will never let up, that will never let up while we’re reading the bible, that will never let up. He wants to be in a relationship with us and so with that in mind we enter into this 6th month of the year around the Global Campfire and take the next step forward. We’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible this week. In our reading from the Old Testament we have the story of Absalom going on right now. Absalom the son of King David, so a prince is attempting to take over his father’s throne, understanding that that would be the death of his father if he’s successful and that’s where we find ourselves. David has fled Jerusalem, Absalom has entered Jerusalem. Absalom has gone after his father with his army and it’s inevitable that there’s a showdown. 2 Samuel chapter 18 verse 1 through 19 verse 10.

Commentary:

Okay so as we enter into this brand new 6th month of the year we find ourselves in a bit of transition uh, in the Old Testament in 2 Samuel. The cue attempt by Absalom in now over because Absalom is now dead. So, the king’s son, one of the princes of Israel has been killed in battle and David is very, very sad. And that’s understandable, that was his son. But it was also a son that wanted his dad dead so, it’s kind of a complicated scenario there. If we pause here for second and go back, just kind of think back to the beginning of 2 Samuel when…even for that matter back to 1 Samuel when David is on the run from King Saul we see David clinging to God for dear life and reverent…reverencing God in every conceivable situation. Like he knows that he’s alive because God is keeping him alive. If we’ll remember during that whole episode with Saul and David, once Saul was killed in battle and David had become King in Hebron, some very influential people were killed along the way. Uh, like Saul’s son Ishbasheth who had been anointed the king, he was assassinated. Uh, the general of Saul’s Army, he’s assassinated. People are watching David to see if he had anything to do with it, like they’re looking to David to get their cues about what comes next and whether there gonna get behind David. And David shows himself upright and honorable and that makes a huge difference, in fact, it makes THE difference. Today, in David’s life in this reading, the Army’s that are loyal to David because of all these things, because he’s the king, they have vanquished a foe, it just happens to be the King’s son and so, they’re still looking to David, right, for their cues and he’s behaving very differently. He’s weeping and mourning like, at the death of his son in the same way that he would have wept and mourned over one of the Lord’s anointed being struck down or over a righteous uh, valiant warrior being struck down outside of battle. And so, Joab, who is the…the leader of David’s army is like, nobody will be left, if you keep this up, nobody will be left, and what happens to you next will end up being even worse than anything else that has ever happened to you because basically the cues that their getting from David is that their lives and their loyalty don’t matter. It was the kings son, the rest of them could have all died and he’d been fine with it if the kings son could have lived. And that’s what Joab is explaining to him if…if this is how you feel, you will have nothing left by the morning. And so, David will encourage his people but we see that there’s just such a transition after David takes his friends wife Bathsheba. Things never, ever are the same for King David again. And of course, we’ll pick-up that story tomorrow.

Then in the gospel of John we don’t have a death we have a resurrection and Jesus is restored to life victorious. And so, we read John’s account of the after-math of that and we’ll have one more day to kind of sow that that up from the gospel of John we will conclude John’s gospel tomorrow. Which means we will conclude the gospels, the four gospels tomorrow. And so, after tomorrow’s reading we’ll earn our badge. If we’re using the Daily Audio Bible app and checking off the days as they come by we will have completed another section of the bible, the gospels. We’ll get our gospels badge for 2021 and so I’m looking forward to that. And then after we finish the gospels we will move into the story of what comes next which will be interesting because it is the story of all that comes next but some of the things that we’re gonna read going forward are earlier writings than the gospels that we just read. Although all of it was written down after Jesus’ ascension. But we have plenty of time for that, we’ll get into all that, we’re just, we’re here at the 1st day of the 6th month so we got a ways to go and a lot of ground to cover and I am so excited that we can cover this ground together and we can be on this voyage together each day. All we have to do is show up, each day and just allow the bible to transform the way we think about things and begin to shift things from within.

Prayer:

And so, Father we thank You for Your word and as we mark the time, as we begin this 6th month of the year and as we begin to transition in…in the scriptures into new territory Holy Spirit come. You are the Guide. We are following You on this journey and we ask that You be a light to our path that You lead us deeper into Jesus. That You lead us into all truths and we ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayers and Encouragement:

Good morning one and all um, it’s Susan from Canada, God’s Yellow Flower calling. And I just want to pray for Zach this morning um, who wants to be a pastor, feels Gods calling on him. And Lord God I just lift him up to You. I thank You that You have called him into ministry. I thank You for his goals and for his obedience and for his um, desires to um, to bring You to others in all kinds of ways. I pray, dear God that You would provide for him along every step of the way. That You would open his eyes and unstop his ears to hear and see all the things that You have prepared for him. I pray dear God that You would um, not only provide financially but You would sharpen his mind to absorb the studies carefully and fully and successfully. Guide him and lead him in the way you want him to go Lord in all things and in all ways, and all the days of his life. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Hi, this is Big Hearted Ben and Radiant Rachel and we’re praying for Little Sharie and her foot. Please help her foot to have a good time, please help it to heal again and we rebuke any foul spirits hanging around His Little Sharie and her health and anything that has to do with her and her family and we pray that um, nothing will come against them. And anything that comes against us and her and our family of believers we’re putting up the shield of faith over them. And we’re…and we’re fighting with our faith. And we’re fighting and we are rebuking Satan and sending him and his minions to the pit of hell. In Jesus name, Amen. Also, known as death. Amen. Amen. Do you have any other prayers today? Nope. Oh actually, we want the whole world to have a good time…A good time, a good day. And…good life…please help it not to rain too much today where we’re going, help us to have a safe trip and uh, a good time. Amen. Saying Amen? You’re praying to yourself? Amen. Oh yeah, Amen. Jesus is the priest of everyone that believes in you in the whole wide world. Amen.

Hey guys, so today’s tail was Absalom and his sister who’s rigged and then plotting for 2 years to kill his brother, 2 years. It made me think about me and my family, um just with unforgiveness and plotting and wickedness and I’m sure it applies to all of you in some way. We’re all in a horri…horrible world and we’re called as Christians to forgive. But there is many of us who are not believers um, many of our families who are not and they don’t really have a call to forgive. And in thinking about our call to forgive I find it super hard to forgive, to really forgive. Like maybe if I could sit down with somebody and have a full-on conversation, an argument and stay in and we both hurt and get through the issues and come to a resolution but most of the time it’s not like that. People, you, I, we, are cowards and are selfish and don’t like pain we do everything we can to avoid pain. So, we run away, we hide in unforgiveness and we make little Christian-eze prayers so you know, I forgive them, but really we don’t, I don’t quite often and it sucks, it’s the nature. I personally don’t quite know how to overcome it. You know I’ve had many conversations about forgiveness and…and uh, people say well if you forgive in your heart and pray for God, you don’t have to feel it but just do it. I hope that’s the case but is it? I don’t know. We’re called to forgive. Yeah, like we believe in Christ and we’re going to heaven but we’re called to forgive or else we won’t be forgiven, kind of a, what’s the right word, a juxtaposition, I’m not sure. But forgiveness man, it’s a big deal and it’s something that I struggle with big time, especially against Christians, people who’ve hurt me who’ve I’ve loved and I feel don’t love me anymore. Alright, love you guys, I will talk to you soon.

Hello DAB family this is Iva from Ohio. It is Friday night and I just had the last day of school for the 2021 school year and I’m gonna tell you it was a difficult one. I’m not a rookie, this was my 26th year of teaching but it was a really hard year. Since last March my school district has done school 8 different ways and I am excited that the year is over but I am also in need of restoration and I’m in need of renewal and I would guess that many teachers across the country and across the world are feeling the same. And so, if you know of any teachers would you please pray for them, would you pray that we would be restored this summer that we would be renewed this summer that we would move beyond this school year into the creative place that God wants us to be for the next school year. Psalm 119:1-88

Welcome to Daily Audio Bible Chronological. I’m Jill. It’s new around here, everything is new, new translation, new week. And I don’t know, maybe you can just take a second and think about what’s new for you today. New mercy, awaiting on a brand new sunrise. Isn’t that such a good feeling to know that when the sun came up this morning, there was a new mercy, a new chance to do the next right thing, to make the next right choice. And we’re doing that together by reading the word of God together in chronological order. And today we’re back in the Psalms and we’re reading Psalm 119 verses one through eighty eight.

Prayer:

Father, we thank you once again for another day, another day to be present with you, another day in your word, another day of new mercies and new chances and new next right steps, another chance to not walk in the same cycles, the same patterns of behavior or cycles of repeating what we hate and expecting an outcome. But you give us a chance to do something new and something different, and you come into collaboration with us and you bring to our minds and our awareness the fact that we’re doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome. So, Father, would you convict us? Would you speak to our hearts? Would you show us the cycles that need change and need to be broke by making a different choice and not just asking you and expecting you to come and fix it and do something different, but you invite us into the process with you. You give us the opportunity to change our destiny, to change our family lineage, to break the curses of repeated patterns and behaviors that we have just called curses, that somebody cursed us somewhere, failing to recognize that we play a vital role in our own repeated cycles. And I pray that this speaks to somebody because this was not at the forefront of my mind and has nothing to do with our reading today. But I know in my own life I had to make changes where some learned behavior, some bad things had to be changed. And we can do it. We can do hard things because we do not do them alone. We thank you, Father, but you are our very present help in time of trouble. But you are our very strength and a weakness, and you are the change that we have the potential to make in our own lives. Thank you for that. I pray and speak into the newness of this week and the newness of the life that you bring life and life more abundantly, life again and again and again, and rebirth and all things new again in the name of the father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Mornin, DABC family. This is Judy from Georgia. Today is Sunday, May twenty third. And I was just listening to Daniel Young’s request for prayer for his son. And I’m praying that your son finds the light of God and realizes that God is there for him and we’ll get him through this. But he has to follow and also for his mother so that both of them can find their way to God. Jill, thank you for today’s commentary. It is very true that we need to remember God’s word, not man’s word, and get things back on track and get us all to God’s side. This would be a great world if we were all that way and we really listened. God bless everyone and have a great week. Bye.

Good morning DABCers. This is Soaring on Eagles Wings on May 24th. Just listened to the podcast. And Jill, thank you so much for your reading and your always inspirational comments. I love you. Tammy, you lost two friends and a student to shooting. That is a difficult, difficult situation there. Their families that are grieving, students that are grieving the loss of their schoolmates. And you in the midst of this have to be a resource for all these people. Daniel Johnson Junior, your dad, Dad, an ordained minister, has relapsed into serious alcoholic. He’s hurting his family, especially your stepmom, and he covers it so well. But God sees and God hears. And this is the God of whom I call today for both your family. And I pray that God would give you all that you need to be this strength for your students and you as you mourn the loss of your friends as well, that he would comfort you and show you the way to go. Daniel, I pray that your dad’s alcoholism will be revealed because God called him to be a minister. Our God is a God of truth. And I pray that all that will be revealed. He would realize what he’s doing to himself and to his family. Dear God, he recovered once. He can recover with your help. I pray for Daniel, the heartache it must be to watch your Dad going down this path. So Lord, Tammy and Daniel have called out to you, hear their prayers I pray in the name of Jesus.

This is Pamela from Pennsylvania. I’m calling in to pray for Tammy. She called sharing that there were three deaths just recently from gunshot wounds. Tammy, I could hear your struggle, the heavy burden that you’re carrying right now, and I want to encourage you that your brothers and sisters all around the world here at the DAB family are lifting you up. And you know what? When it’s all around the world, that means your covered 24 hours a day because the hours turn around the world. So I pray that that encourages you. Heavenly Father, I lift up Tammy to you that you would surround her during this very difficult and heavy time. I ask you that you would draw her near to you and that she would lay her burdens on you and allow you to carry the yoke. I, I ask you to surround her with your sweet, sweet presence and make yourself known to her like she has never known you before. I ask you to infuse her with a special anointing of the Holy Spirit to soften her fear and anxiety and bring her calm and peace. I ask these things in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Hello Daily Audio Bible. Me and my mom are listeners from Zambia and we want you to pray for our family. We’re not having a good time, especially it’s Covid time. My Dad and Mom are separated.

2 Samuel 17:1-29, John 19:23-42, Psalms 119:129-152, Proverbs 16:12-13

Today is May 31st welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it’s wonderful every day to be here including today. We’ll begin our work week, even as we and the month. This the final day of the fifth month of the year. We are five four months into our journey, and we’ll just keep going and step-by-step we’ll…we’ll conclude our journey but tomorrow we’ll be stepping into month numbers six, but that’s tomorrow. And, so, today we’re going to finish well the fifth month, which will lead us back into the book of second Samuel, and this major coup attempt it’s happening. Absalom the son, the prince, but the son of King David is…is in the process of…of taking over Jerusalem. David has fled the city. Absalom and his people have moved in. So, let’s pick up the story second Samuel chapter 17 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, here on the final day of the fifth month of the year we, for the final time this year fully experience the crucifixion and death of Jesus and burial of Jesus and. And the details in the gospel of John. It’s just a horrible, horrible scene and you’ve got these executioners who have stripped Jesus and their gambling for his cloths, who gets to have the dead man’s cloths. You have Jesus, mother at the cross. O…can you…I mean…I’m not a mother, I’m a father, right, but still, I don't…I don’t know how you can imagine that kind of suffering and pain. But we see Jesus’ compassion, we see Him taking care of His mother as He dies, as He…as He’s in agony that you can’t even comprehend that he takes care of His mother. And then because they need to get these bodies…like they’re on a time schedule here. And I don’t suppose they had watches and stuff but they’re on a time schedule here. And we need to get these bodies off the cross, so we need to get these people dead. So, they ask for the legs to be broken, which is a way of speeding up the death because when you’re being crucified, and you’re suspended there you need to…well…basically you need to push down on the nails in your feet to suspend your body to get enough strength to get breath but then when you can’t do that because of the pain you’ve gotta suspend yourself on your hands and it’s just exhausting and eventually they die, but if you break the person’s legs then they have no support anymore and so they suffocate and that’s what happened to those two criminals crucified on either side of Jesus, which just thinking about not alone, that’s so gruesome, that’s so barbaric, it’s so horrible. Jesus was already dead, so they don’t break His legs. They just stabbed Him with a spear instead and blood and water flowed. There was that and then there’s this skirmish to get His body down from the cross and so they ask for permission and they get His body, and they have 75 pounds of spices to…to stave off the stench of human decay after a person has died because it’s Passover now, it’s Sabbath. And. so, they wrap Him up and they put Him in this tomb. It’s like an available tomb. They need to get this body down. They need to get this body protected and then…and then observe the Sabbath and Passover and then deal with this when that’s over with. And, so, He’s in this tomb for now and they’ll figure it out later. Jesus isn’t going to need anything, but that borrowed tomb for you know…for…for…for a couple days, but there’s all this scurrying around. I mean if you don’t know the end of this story this is a tough story. If you’ve fallen…if you’ve fallen in love with Jesus and you didn’t know…even though Jesus told His friends how this would go they did not understand it and so this is a very, very tough time for the people who remain. And they’ve got a go into Sabbath, and this is all they’re going to be thinking about. And, so, maybe it’s worthy. I mean we’ve mentioned in all four Gospels but maybe it’s worthy of thinking about, maybe this is the thing that we think about today, this…this kind of love, but also the capability of this kind of injustice. This is the “created” attempting to destroy and kill the “Creator”. That that is even a category of possibility requires us to think about it and meditate upon it. How can we be seduced away into a mob mentality? How can we remain in the darkness squirming when the light comes because we don’t want to be exposed? There is so much here when we look at the cross, so much more than an innocent person being executed. And as I’ve communicated many times this is…this is the last time through this story this year. And, so, we need to seal this in our hearts and in our minds as we continue forward because everything that we’ll read in the New Testament that comes next is because of this story. And, so, let’s meditate upon it today again.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit we invite You to help us to be somber today, to be…not be depressed or sad but to move through this day reverently, that this is the thing that we keep coming back to, the unspeakable love of Jesus on our behalf that gives us life abundantly. Once again, may we consider deeply that this is a costly gift. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi there, it’s Hallie Hart calling in to pray and praise some DABbers. I’ll start with my praise for Renzo following God’s call for him to street ministry. Renzo may God bless you and keep you safe while out trying to harvest and sow seeds for the future. Father God please find a partner for Renzo to go out in spread Your word. He wants to follow Your calling but would like someone with a solid foundation in Christ to help strengthen him and allow him to reach those he would not otherwise. Also Father God please allow him to get the scholarships he needs for his education and make his parents realize the importance and quickly deal with their obligation in the matter. You have a choir of angels cheering you on Renzo. Also, as a mom I’m guilty of this with my daughter in college as well and you spurred me to get it done really quickly this year. Also, Rick from North Carolina who called in on his marriage. Dear God please help create a path of reconciliation for them. Help Rick and his wife overcome what they’re lacking right now and let it strengthen their marriage for the future. Also, I am continuing…continually praying for many dabbers but for husband of the wife Jess sitting in the hospital as she nears her ascension. Your prayers linger with me day after day. I’m continually praying for both of you, and I hope that you can feel the presence of the Lord and that He brings you peace. We love you. Amen.

Good morning family this is Anonymous I’ve called a couple of different times to talk about this situation, that I took my eyes off God and found myself in a pickle. And, so, I’ve been working really hard to, you know, be in His will and to talk to Him and to hear His voice and it’s come to my attention that I am a sex and love addict, so I’ve been attending meetings for that and I…I just need your prayers friends. This world distorts how we feel about ourselves and how we think we should be able to relate to others and I just…I’m reaching out in my addiction to ask for prayer for others like me. I know you’re out there and I’ve heard some calls recently of other people who are struggling with addictions and whatnot. But family just lift those of us who have been distorted by the society in this world to think that there can be anything more important than a relationship than God. And I ask specifically that you would speak in a very clear and open way to my heart to tell me my next steps do the next right thing. So, thank you family I love you. Thank you Brian and Jill I’m excited for Ben in China and their little girl Reagan. And I’m just in general so thankful, so thankful to be God’s girl. Alright, love you family have a great, great day.

This is Eltalee Maxwell in Colorado Springs Abiding in Jesus of 9:07 AM on the 27th and I just heard that dear man that wants God to mold him and feels called to be a pastor. I just want to praise God for this young man, and I just pray that you would just mold him Lord into who You want him to be. Help him to get all the support he needs and if Your will, lead him to a godly wife that has the same calling. And we ask this in Jesus name. Amen.

Heavenly Father King of Kings, Lord of Lords, I just heard the prayer requests of two husbands. Both their wives have cancer and both of them are in very, very great need of Your hand, Your fingerprints upon their life, Your guidance, Your healing in so many ways. Lord please may they be able to see Your presence and their wives be able to sense Your presence. May they have a great wisdom about themselves. May it not be all about just finding answers but being able to share the beauty of each day each moment as they have been given and that they would find that together in You. Lord, please bless the community around them with a wisdom and a love and compassion and a presence of heart and mind and soul of demonstrating Your love to them. Lord, please do an incredible work within their lives. Thank You, Lord for Your generous love and each day that You have given to us in Jesus’…

This is Doctor John in Illinois. I just want to respond to…to the folks that I heard on the 28th of May. Number one the brother that his wife is suffering. Found, I guess the diagnosis of cancer maybe on her phenol organs. Brother I just want to tell you that my wife six years ago was diagnosed with breast cancer, very aggressive. They give us a 20% chance to live in two years and by infinite mercy and the grace of Christ she’s doing wonderful. Every time we go back her scans, her blood work is great. So, every day we depend on Christ. Every day we have a day to rejoice and be glad. So, brother hold…hold onto your trust and believe. Every day God is healing, every day he’s doing miraculous wonders. It reminds us there are things that He’s doing that we don’t know anything about. But He’s faithful. And the other brother, Daniel Johnson Junior called about his dad who once was a minister. And instantly the story came to mind when Christ describes the shepherd that had the 100 sheep and 99 were in the fold and he’s last one, but did he not go out and do everything he could to retrieve the one? So, brother I’d say to you…you've…look of all the things that you’ve been through…I’ve heard your name so many times and God is always faithful. And would He not go out, would He not retrieve the one? So, brother hold up your head and have faith and you have a whole host of brothers and sisters standing in faith with you.
