2 Samuel 15:23-16:23, John 18:25-19:22, Psalm 119:113-128, Proverbs 16:10-11

Today is the 30th day of May welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is great to be here with you today as we greet a brand new shiny sparkly week that will lead us into a brand new shiny sparkly month before it’s over with. So, new beginnings are all around us and it’s a beautiful thing, a beautiful reminder that we can keep starting over, we can keep moving forward. So, I’m grateful and so thankful that we can be on this journey together. And so, let’s just reach out and throw open the threshold and move into this new week. We’ll read from the Christian Standard Bible this week. And we’ll pick up where we left off yesterday in the book of 2 Samuel that will be chapter 15 verse 23 through 16 verse 23 today. As just by uh, short way of reminder King David is on the run and has left his palace and is fleeing from his son Absalom who is making an attempt to take over the kingdom. And so, we pick up that story. 2 Samuel 15.

Prayer:

Jesus, we love you. We have come to this point now in the final gospel where…where You are hanging from a cross and we have traveled all these miles and watched You bring truth and light and good and good news and healing and restoration into the world and…and the world chose the dark. Chose to snuff You out if possible and the sad thing is that these tendencies they exist in the world and they exist in each of us. And so, as we imagine as we look into our minds eye and imagine what it is we’re reading it’s unthinkable. The injustice is beyond description. The love on display, the willingness to be that sacrifice, is beyond description. And so, we surrender. This is what we do so often because the scriptures continually lead us to this place that you have modeled: surrender, surrender everything, everything to God be utterly dependent upon God. We are seeing that modeled even…even in death, even in death on the cross. And so, Jesus we thank You and as we say just about every time that we come through this territory, what is a thank you, these are words, what words could we put together. How…how could we even describe this. It’s gotta be spoken with our very lives in surrender. And so, Holy Spirit come and help us continue to walk that narrow path that leads to life because it is a path of surrender. Come Holy Spirit we pray, in the name of Jesus we ask. Amen.

Prayers and Encouragement:

Hello, my name is Frank. I recently was attacked in the brain by COVID. Uh, there wasn’t much hope for me at first uh, I owe many thanks to my favorite sister-in-law, Risa, my best-friend, my wife Harriot, for praying…getting people to pray, people following His ___ asking…asking God to spare me because I am a believer in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. And within twelve days I got myself home. I’m still weak and recovering but it’s a journey that will have a happy ending. I’d like to thank everybody who prayed for me and I’ll never forget it. I love you guys, Jesus loves you.

Hi, my name is Phoebe, I am from Northern Alberta and I love Daily Audio Bible. It has helped me through some of the darkest times in my life. There is still 1 thing that I really need prayer for ___ my daughter Timaeh. Three and a half years ago she told me that she was an atheist. I just need prayer for her to be delivered from the blindness and bondage that Satan is trying to keep her in. Please pray for her, I thank you.

Hi Daily Audio Bible family it’s Madison from Southern California. I’ve called in before. Um, it is May 26th but I’m actually a little bit behind and I just listened to the May 24th reading and in particular I was so moved by the woman who prayed for the young man who was taken into custody and her prayers through that experience he would surrender his life to the Lord. Um, I was so moved by that and um I want to come on here and humbly ask for a similar prayer request for my own very dear friend who I have asked for prayer about before. Um, I’ve been praying for his sobriety and for his salvation. Um, on June 1st he has a hearing for a DUI that he received uh, in September of 2019. Um, and this sentence is going to be different no matter what, it’s going to change his life it might even change his career, how he goes about his day-to-day life and I know that he’s scared. Um, but I am just praying that this can be something that brings him to his knees and helps him to see his need and helps him to see the great mercy of Jesus even though he’s facing punishment for you know, his own human mistake actions. So, if you all would just pray with me for him, for so many who are kind of facing a reckoning that they would come to know Jesus, um, it would mean so much.

I would like to pray today for all my brothers and sisters both in Australia where I live and all over the world who love the Lord and need the Lord, daily, as I do. We are so fortunate and so blessed to have each other near and far. To be the body of Christ and to be the believers, those of whose eyes have been opened, whose heart have been opened and who’ve been given through God’s grace the understanding of the gospel. The hope of a sure future and peace and joy in their hearts today. No matter what we go through, brothers and sisters, remain faithful, remain steadfast in your faith, in your belief and in the sure knowledge of the future. I pray that any of you, who are experiencing heartache, disappointment with people, family or friends, may be comforted and reassured of God’s love. Because at the end of the day people will disappoint and hurt us but there is 1 who holds us near and who calls us friends. He’s the one whose love is the most important who has put trust in us, we value the highest. So, I hope and I pray and I send my love to each and every one of you. Those I will never meet as well as those I know. And may your life be blessed. And may you be loved by family and friends especially Gods love be sure and steady and forever lasting. Amen.

2 Samuel 14:1-15:22, John 18:1-24, Psalms 119:97-112, Proverbs 16:8-9

Today is the 29th day of May welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is awesome to be here with you today around the Global Campfire and its joy to take this next step forward together. So, we…we have been reading from the Evangelical Heritage Version this week. We have been reading in the book of second Samuel. We have been watching really a turn in King David’s family. Nothing was ever the same after…after David took Bathsheba. And, so, in yesterday’s reading one of…one of David’s sons, Amnon, was killed by another son, Absalom because Amnon had raped his sister Tamar. And now Absalom has had to flee, gone back to his grandfather who’s the king of Geshur up near the Galilee, actually not near it…very near the Sea of Galilee. And, so, we will continue with…with Absalom today. Second Samuel 14 verse 1 through 15 verse 22.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for another week. We thank You for almost another month. We thank You for Your faithfulness, Your commitment to training us, to teaching us, to revealing Yourself to us through the Scriptures, to transforming us through the process of sanctification over time. Thank You that that You are remaking us. All things are being made new and that we have permission to just lean back and allow this process and that our part in this process is mostly about surrender and not fighting You. So Holy Spirit, come as…as we conclude another one of our weeks together and continue the journey forward. We ask as we do so often that You continue to lead us into all truth. And we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

[singing starts] Since I started for the Kingdom, since my life He controls, since I give my heart to Jesus the longer I serve Him the sweeter He grows. The longer I served Him the sweeter He grows. The more that I love Him more love He bestows. Each day is like heaven my heart overflows. The longer I serve Him the sweeter He grows. every need He’s supplying plenty of grace He bestows. Every day my way gets brighter. The longer I serve Him the sweeter He grows. The longer I serve Him the sweeter He grows. The more that I love Him more love He bestows. Each day is like heaven my heart overflows. The longer I serve Him the sweeter He grows [singing stops]. Thank you, Lord…

Good morning DABbers brothers and sisters in Christ this is His Child calling from Canada and this morning I’m calling with a prayer request asking that we could all unite our hearts together in prayer for a dear friend of mine. She’s going through radiation right now for cancer and she’s in a lot of pain. So, please I’m asking for your prayer. God knows her name. Thank you so much DABbers. And heavenly Father God this morning I come to You with a humble heart Lord God thanking You for Your mercy, Your grace, love and forgiveness. Thank You, God that You are there, that we can call upon You, that we can cast our cares upon You because we know You care. Lord I pray that each person at this present moment Lord that’s going through life’s struggles Lord, that You will just put Your arms around them and remind them Lord that You are there, and You will never leave nor forsake them. You may not take us out of the things that we go through Lord, but You walk through them with us. Thank You for that promise and that assurance Lord and Father God I pray that You also continue to bless…bless Brian and Jill for the wonderful work that they are doing Lord to further Your Kingdom. And bless each and every person that is listening today. Thank You, Lord for Your love for us in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Good morning DAB this is Nola calling from Grants Pass OR. I’ve been a DAB listener for 14 years and I just want to pray a blessing over this ministry and Brian and his family. It has been a remarkable journey. Still learning to this day. I have a couple of prayer requests. I do…I listened to the woman right before the podcast today. She prayed for her son that knows the Lord, as my son does. His name is Gilbert and he’s out in the world today as hers is and I just pray that the Lord covers him with safety and praying that he brings him home soon to open his eyes to His love. Second of all I’d like to ask for prayer for healing for my left hip. It has been a problem for over a year now and it slowly seems to get worse. I’ve went to doctors I’ve tried everything I can, and I just don’t wanna have surgery. So, I’m praying for healing. So, I just want to say thank you DAB family for all your prayers. I pray for you each day and I am so grateful for this ministry. God bless all of you and God safety. Thank you.

Hi everyone, my name is Kate and I’m calling from France to ask for prayer. Today is May 25th and I just finished listening to the recording for today and I was really touched by…by what we read and by Brian’s reflections. It was…the reading today was about David, King David wanting to build a temple for God. And…and Brian was reflecting on how we, you now, we…how…our inclination to build these boxes and say, “that’s who God is” or to sing worship songs and tell God who He is. And I just felt so…I needed that encouragement and that reminder. And as much as I don’t like the idea of recording and asking for prayer, the proverb also talked about humility and I just felt really challenged to call and ask if…if the Holy Spirit puts it on your heart would you pray for me to…to not be constricted by who I think God is or what I think God wants but really that the Holy Spirit would enable me, equip me, help me to…to just continue to walk with God and experience who He is and to submit to whatever it is that He wants, not what I think He wants but what He actually wants. Would you also pray for…for my husband for the…the work that…that God is doing in his heart to really bear fruit and for our marriage. This has been a challenging season. So would you just lift…lift the both of us and our marriage up. Thank you so much.

2 Samuel 13:1-39, John 17:1-26, Psalms 119:81-96, Proverbs 16:6-7

Today is the 28th day of May welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is great to be here with you today, wonderful to come around the Global Campfire together, wonderful to have a Global Campfire to come to, an oasis, a safe serene space carved out…ahhh…just to let God speak through the Scriptures and just exhale and have a place away from any chaos or anything coming to distract us. We have this place together and I’m glad to be in it with you for the next step forward. And that next step forward will take us back into the book of second Samuel. We’ve kind of just moved through the Bathsheba story and it’s a sordid story to be certain and we were just talking about how things are never really the same David’s family after this. And we will begin to see that today. Second Samuel chapter 13.

Commentary:

Okay. So, from the book of Second Samuel, we see that things in David’s family have not improved in any way. They have only gotten worse after these choices that David made involving Bathsheba, the taking of another man’s wife and then the killing of that husband. Respect seems to be somewhat diminished if not lost among David’s children. And, so, we…we encountered a story today that involved three of David’s children in particular, a son named Amnon, a daughter named Tamar and a son named Absalom who was the brother of Tamar. We read the story. We don’t need to go back through the details. Tamar is raped by Amnon. Absalom…Absalom is infuriated…like he can’t stand that this has happened, and he cannot stand his brother Amnon for what he did. And David didn’t do much of anything. And even Absalom under the circumstances is just kind of consoling Tamar, like “you have to just…you have to begin to move on from this place.” But Absalom…Absalom’s plotting justice, justice that the king’s not going to give, justice that’s just not gonna happen any other way, it appears, because two years go by, right? Two years go by and it’s like everything is just brushed under the rug and we’re moving on and that’s when Absalom has his plan to have a feast and the feast does happen and Amnon is killed, which certainly disrupts the royal family, to say the least. So, there’s a great amount of grief and mourning. We can read it and go, “well that was justice.” But the only one that’s fleeing now is Absalom. So, Absalom has perpetrated the killing of Amnon his brother who’s a prince and its justice, but Absalom has to flee. As it turns out, though, Absalom is the grandson of the king of Geshur. And the capital city of Geshur has been associated with…with some ruins in the Galilee region. Actually, it is believed that Geshur and the New Testament city of Beth-Saida, which some of Jesus’ disciples called a hometown and that Jesus visited and performed miracles in, that they are the same. So, they share the same ruins. They just come from a different time. So, Absalom’s back at his grandfather’s palace and protected there for three years after…after the death of Amnon. And that’s kinda where we leave off. We’re not done though. We’re on a slide that’s sliding downward in David’s family and we’re not…were not done with the story of Absalom, who it appears has lost pretty much all respect for his father the king, David.

When we turn into the gospel of John, we are at John chapter 17, and this is a famous chapter. This is known as Jesus High Priestly Prayer, a prayer that He prays over His disciples and through His disciples over all of us who believe, and He is asking the Father to make us one as they are one. So, in the words of Jesus, so I’m quoting out of the gospel of John here, “I am no longer going to be in the world, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father protect them by your name which you gave me so that they may be one as we are one.” And then a couple verses…verses later Jesus says, “I am praying not only for them but also for those who believe in Me through their message.” That will be us friends. That would be us. “May they all be one as You Father are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be one in us so that the world may believe that You’ve sent me.” What Jesus is talking about here is an intertwining that should blow our minds - “so that they may be one as we are one?” Well, our understanding of how “one” Jesus is with the Father is that there one in the same. So, this isn’t something that we can just talk over in the next three minutes. This is something we’re gonna have to kind of really think about and meditate upon over the course of days, maybe weeks, maybe months. This is something we invite the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth about. What would that be like, that we the body are one as They are one? How do we even start to think about that? We can think, well…the reference here is about unity, that we’ll all be united, believe in the same thing in the same direction. If that’s the deal then this prayer has not yet been answered, right? All we have to look around is to know that that’s not how we are operating almost ever. And if that’s the case, and it is in fact Jesus desire as He prays to the Father that we become one as They are one, then the path that we are on, it doesn’t seem like we’ll ever…like it doesn’t seem like we’re moving in the right direction, even as…as the body much less humanity. How do we even begin to get our minds around that concept though? We have to…we have to begin to think of ways in which we are united, we are one. So, for example, every human being alive on this planet today is one with every other human being. We are one as the human race. The things that keep us alive on this planet are the thing to keep all of us as the human race as one together alive. For example, we have beating hearts. If that stops, we cease to be on this planet alive, at least as we know it. And that is true of all human beings. We are all one in that reality. What we are typically programmed to do in this world and in this world system in the cultures is to generally, from birth almost, become aware of our distinctions, our differences, the things that we can look at and say, “that is different than me. We are not one. We are distinctly different in this area.” But once we find one area that we are distinctly different in, say for example, we have theological differences, say, with another brother or sister, they…they are seeing things a certain way that we don’t think is accurate, we will often take that distinctive and then type up a label and put the label on that person so that we can dismiss that person and everybody who thinks the way that they do as not one with us. Is that true though because that person still has a beating heart, bloods pumping through their veins, they have a brain, they have eyes and mouth and ears that are situated on a head, they walk upright, they look human, they are human, they are still part of the human race. Our label or judgment cannot change that. We are still one with them is humanity. And we need to think about the body of Christ. Is it, we who made the body or is it we who were grafted into the body and are simply lucky to be here at all? If it is the latter, then we don’t have anything to type with, we don’t have any labels, we don’t have any anything. Our identity is one in Christ. Our allegiance is to Jesus. We may be evolving in our understanding of Jesus, our relationship with God. That would be a default of being alive, right? We’re…we’re learning, we’re growing. I am in love and am attempting to use my life to become one with my wife. And sometimes it feels like that and sometimes it doesn’t. But we’ve decided no matter what it feels like, this is the this is the trajectory of our lives is to become one. And marriage is another fantastic way to begin to think about this concept. What we begin to realize is, it’s not about pointing out our distinctives and carving out all our territory…territory to protect that. It’s more about focusing on our similarities and working to strengthen these things while using our differences to challenge the status quo. Like we can always be about the business of refining this oneness that Jesus is speaking about, but we have to think about what it even looks like because if we just look out over the body of Christ across the world, we…we would see just about as many divisions as there are in the world. We continue to try to carve out our distinctives in one way or another, while ignoring our similarities, which is where we probably should be starting. If are clear on our similarities than we can celebrate our distinctives because their gifts from God, their beautiful things that serve all of us together. And, so, I probably have talked that three minutes or more, but let’s meditate upon this because if we do, we begin to think about becoming one as a body, which Paul talks about. Like I’m not suggesting something extra biblical here, like we’re gonna, we’re gonn approach all of this from different perspectives when we begin to read Paul and his description of what Jesus is doing in this world by making the body of Christ. So, this idea of…of us becoming one is something that we actually do need to give thought to because it’s a posture that is supposed to be our normal.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit we invite You into this. Conceptually we can maybe understand the concept. The process…we…we don’t. It it’s a mystery. And, so, we have to surrender and open ourselves. And maybe that’s all there is to it, is that we surrender our identity to You and You bestow an identity upon us, the identity of a son or a daughter of the most-high God, and when we come into contact with our brothers and sisters in the world, it’s not about our distinctive, the things that we need to argue about, it’s about the fact that we are all children of the most-high God here and there is no label we can slap on each other change that. You and You alone are the eternal judge. And, so, Holy Spirit come lead us into all truth we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask expectantly. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hello Daily Audio Bible family. I…I’m Sydney from Tennessee. I am just calling. I’ve been driving and listening trying to catch up on Daily Audio Bible and listening to the prayer requests and praying along and a thought just occurred to me. I…as I’m listening to some of your stories and…and how the…the struggles that everybody is going through I’m just blown away by how this community pulls together and prays for everybody who needs it. I…I…it reminds me of the story of Moses when they’re fighting and he’s only winning when they’re lifting up his arms. And I feel like this community stands in the gap when we’re too week to make it through our own battles. And I just was overcome…and just with joy and happiness that this is truly a community that follows that example. So, I guess I just want to thank everybody for being so loving and I guess for showing the way that the Kingdom of God should work. I love you all. I thank you for calling in. I’m praying with you and for you and thank you to Brian and Jill and family for putting on this wonderful podcast for everybody. Have a blessed day. Thanks.

Hey DAB family this is Byron out in Florida. My wife went to go visit her mother’s grave the other day and on her way to the site she came across an old man that was visiting his wife’s grave and they got to talking and it turned out they had been married for quite a long time and he had this to say about his wife, that she was a fighter, that they had diagnosed her with cancer and had given her only two months to live but she continued to live another 27 before she died. Later on that evening my wife had severe pains in her abdomen so we went to the emergency room where they did some scans and urged us to see a specialist as soon as we could. Came back from seeing that specialist today and it turns out that one of my wife ovaries is significantly enlarged. The recommendation is to remove the ovaries along with the rest of the sexual apparatus and to test it to see if there is cancer and if any additional action needs to be taken. So, given the circumstances and the little things that God has done we have great assurance about all this, great comfort. My God has always been faithful to me, and to my family and he will continue to be even in this situation, but nothing goes right without prayer and that’s where you my DAB family come in. Please pray for my wife for healing, for the doctor and nurses and assistants, that everything goes well with the surgery. It’s going to be happening on Friday January 4th. And pray for my wife’s husband that he does the right thing, says the right thing, takes care of everything that needs to be taken care of so my wife can do the main job of healing. Thank you all for always being there. I love you all and will talk to you soon. Bye.

I have only called in one time before. Been listening for about 10 years but this is not about me. I…my wife’s not doing well. She’s been fighting leukemia for 10 years now and in the past year it’s gone south. She’s in the hospital now and the doctors helping out, paying attention to blood tests and results. But it’s in God’s hands now. There’s nothing that you and I or the doctor can do. It’s all in God’s hands and His healing touch. So, will be praying for my wife Tanya. Also, be praying for my family. We have to find a house soon. Our landlord is selling the house. He’s not being mean about it. It’s just part of life. The housing market has gone up. And, so, we are able to…he’s able to make some money and I don’t blame him, but we have a large family and it’s hard to find a rent house. But be praying for me because I can’t be with my wife. I’m taking care of the kids while her mother is with her and I can’t be by her side. So, just be playing for my family. Thank you.

Hi everyone, how are you doing? I hope you’re doing great. I hope that throughout your challenges and your ups and downs in life that you always keep trusting in God. I pray that no matter what is going on in your life would derail you from the right path which is in Christ, and which is Christ. I pray that you will always keep leaning on him even though if I win his heart, it would be so nice to rely on other things than Christ. But it is…Christ is the only way. I pray that He will help you and…and make you strong in Him in the name of Jesus. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Have a great day. Bye-bye.

Good morning DAB this is Pamela from Texas. I started out in January listening to Jill Chronological but now I’ve become a double DABber and I’m listening to Brian as well. I listened this morning to May 25th about just wanting to say I love the analogy about not wanting to put God in a box. If we could all just remember that God just wants to be close to us and have a relationship with us and be in our heart and with us and that our body is the temple and that we need to treat it as a temple of God because He is living there with us. Also, I want to ask prayer for my oldest daughter Christy who is addicted to meth. She struggles with it, and she is having to mandatory go back to a rehab for three months and she’s not happy. But I’m praying that God will work with her and through the counselors there and she will finally get rid of this addiction. And I hope with your prayers and my prayers that she can overcome this. I thank you so much and pray for all of you and thank you for this podcast. In Jesus’ name. Amen. Have a great day.

2 Samuel 12:1-31, John 16:1-33, Psalm 119:65-80, Proverbs 16:4-5

Today is the 27th day of May welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is a joy and an honor to be here with you today as we…as we continue the journey through the week. I really kinda make this final press towards the end of this month and continue forward into the next month day-by-day, step-by-step. So, we find ourselves in the book of 2 Samuel in the Old Testament and we’re dealing with David’s life and it’s like, the whole story took a weird turn yesterday. The army is in battle, David has stayed back in Jerusalem, he sees a beautiful woman named Bathsheba taking a bath, he summons her and ah, the result is a pregnancy, ah, very, very likely Bathsheba didn’t have a whole lot of say in any of this but she is a married woman who’s pregnant with somebody else’s child so she lets the king know that, who then hatches his own plan to try to do a cover-up that doesn’t work. And so, the king has one of his loyal warriors Uriah the Hittite, the husband of Bathsheba, he has him put in a very, very dangerous place where he is likely to be killed in battle and he is. We’re not quite done with this story but we left our reading yesterday very clear that what David did was evil in the sight of God. And so, that’s essentially where we pick up the story. 2 Samuel chapter 12.

Commentary:

Okay, so in 2 Samuel, um David had done something evil before the Lord, evil in general. And the prophet Nathan comes to tell David a story and it’s a story about a rich man and a poor man, rich man has plenty, poor man has almost nothing but he does have this little lamb um that he bought that he loves it’s a part of the family. And the rich man has a guest and he doesn’t want to take from his own flock so he goes and steals the poor man’s family member and slaughters and serves it up. Of course, David’s hearing this story as the king and he has all of the authority of the king and so his blood is boiling like ‘off with his head’ sort of thing, until he realizes this is you, this is you David, this is what you have done and David takes it, uh, full force. And he repents but we’ll notice something because we’ve actually turned a corner in the reign of David. David is a good man after God’s own heart as the bible says and he had to grow up in some really strange circumstances and grow up really, really fast. And he also has done some really, really bad things. We can step back and say that this thing that David did with Bathsheba, yeah that disqualifies him but then we gotta step back and look in the mirror and go like, what have I done that disqualifies me then. Because, yeah, maybe I haven’t killed anybody, yeah I never had that kind of authority but who knows what I would have done had I had that kind of authority at some points in my life. Who knows what we’re capable of because we’re all capable of some really, really horrible things. All we need to do is look at human history to realize the depths of horribleness that we’re capable of but when we remember that we are utterly dependent on God we’re telling a totally different story. Things are never gonna be the same for David. We’ve kind of worked through all of his childhood and his ascension to the throne and his honor and his excellence but after this Bathsheba thing he loses the respect of his family. And, things are never the same for David’s reign as we will see. As we head towards this next chapter, this next season in David’s reign in the days ahead. Things never ever go back. He struggles from this point forward.

In the book of John we’re, we’re…we’re nearing the end. And Jesus is giving conversation to His friends, his disciples, giving them advanced words, giving them understanding. And He’s essentially telling them the time that we’re about to go into together here it’s gonna be kind of like a woman in labor. We’re about to be in some painful struggles together because something new is being born. So, He like, explains it to them like labor, she’s in pain, she’s having contractions, she’s pushing, she’s doing all of the things, it’s a painful process for her but once the baby is born, once the baby is delivered that’s not what she focusing…she’s not focusing on the pain anymore, she’s focusing on the joy of new life. And so, Jesus is essentially saying think of like that, like in your heart and in that direction. And then He spends a…a good amount of time on this concept, like, I’m going somewhere you can’t go and um, in a very, very little while you’re not gonna see me anymore, I’ll be gone, but then you will see me again and it’s kinda cryptic. And the disciples aren’t understanding it and He knows it and He keeps explaining it to them. And so, how can we look at this? He’s gonna go away and they’re not gonna be able to see Him and then they are gonna be able to see Him. I mean there’s a couple of ways that we can look at this that I think we can all…they can… they are all correct. For the disciples, they are going to need to learn a new way of seeing Jesus, a new way of understanding Jesus. Like, after His resurrection things are gonna be different. They’re never…even when they see Him physically, like they’re never gonna be able to see Him again. This is somebody who rose from the dead, this is the glorified Son of the most High God. So, they can’t see Him the same but He also isn’t going to be staying and so they have to see Him different. Which is one of His central messages, ‘do you have eyes to see and ears to hear this kingdom’. So, He’s been teaching them about eyes to see and ears to hear and now it’s gonna have to be put into actual practice. We’ll remember from the gospels that when the disciples see Jesus again after His resurrection it’s kind of confusing, they don’t recognize Him, they’re not…I mean He disappears, like all of these things happen until He finally ascends to the Father, then He’s gone and they have to go back to Jerusalem alone and talk about it and He’s been so clear about love. He’s been so clear about loving one another and having compassion on one another. He’s been so clear about this is how the world will even know that we’re disciples of Jesus it’s the way we love one another. And so, at some point this Spirit of Truth that Jesus talks about, that we talk about, we pray for all of the time. The Comforter is going to be sent and their gonna have to begin to realize that Christ is not an external human figure on the earth anymore. He’s ascended to the Father sent the Comforter back. It’s the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead that now indwells us when we look at each other we’re supposed to be able to see that. So, Jesus is saying, I’m gonna go away and you’re not gonna be able to see me and then you are if you have eyes to see and ears to hear. But this also kind of is an eschatological statement like about the end we would call that the second Advent. So, the season of Advent leading up to Christmas, Advent means arrival, and so we observe this season going into Christmas to commemorate and  celebrate the arrival of the Savior. And we have an understanding that we are waiting now for a second Advent, another arrival in which He will rule and reign forever. So, He’s going to go away and you won’t be able to see Him and then you will be able to see Him again. And we find ourselves in the in-between of that, in the waiting of that. And in the waiting we realize He has not abandoned us, He is within us. He’s everywhere if we have eyes to see and ears to hear. And we will have the Spirit of truth to lead and guide us on the path, illuminating the path. And I love that, I’m thankful, I’m thankful for that. We all need the Spirit of Truth and so that’s why we pray. The Spirit would lead us into all truth as He promised. So often because we’re here at the scriptures and that’s what we’re here to understand the truth; to get our eyes open and our ears open so that we can see what’s really going on here so we can participate and collaborate with God and His work in the world instead of this small story where we’re just trying to find our place in the culture. There’s like a way, way, way bigger story going on that we’re invited into but we need guidance into all truth.

Prayer:

And so, as we so often do Holy Spirit would you come into this? We invite You by opening our hearts to You, we believe that You are the Comforter and that will lead us into all truth if we will simply pay attention and seek wisdom and seek Your voice, watch for Your movements within us and the things that You are after inside of us. Because so often we’re facing external ‘what are you doing in this world’ when actually in begins with us, ‘what are you doing inside of me? Transforming me, that I might have eyes to see, that I might have ears to hear, that I might know that I’m being led into all truth’. And so, continue Your work of sanctification in us we pray. In the name of Jesus we ask. Amen.

Prayers and Encouragement:

Hey DAB fam this is Dave from Pennsylvania calling. I just had one of the greatest Saturday nights I’ve had in a while. So, after going to Gateway our house of prayer we ah, we went up to our normal dining spot and to fellowship afterwards. And, sorry, excuse my painting, I just finished a 5-mile run. Yeah, so we went over to our dining, dining hall and uh, well we fellowshipped there for about 2 hours then most of the guys left and then it was just 3 of us left. And we were talking for…until 4 in the morning. Then another person came in for their breakfast before and well we got into a conversation with them. We listened to his testimony and well in 2005 he was in motorcycle accident which kind of left him literally dead on the side of the road. When he’s found by the first responders they had to bring him back to life and bring him to the hospital and he had a major injury to his brain. Well after uh what seemed to be the 3rd or 4th time as far as his testimony is concerned he…the operation was held, he got the brain clots out of his brain and without turning into a vegetable turned him into a normal human being. So he was able to walk around, he lost nothing, nothing. That’s how much the Lord was with him. He lost literally nothing. He was in an accident that left him dead on the side of the road and through operations which would have left him in a state of vegetation the Lord brought him back to life. And he’s up walking around, I mean, he works at a machine shop now. Like, that’s how good God is. See ya DAB, God Bless.

This is PG from NC I called in to pray for Kingdom Seeker Daniel’s family. Brother just be encouraged. Uh, I remember when you called in before and said that uh, your kids were in all sorts of directions, estranged from you, mostly because of your ex-wife and that their lives were…all had challenges and they were far from God. So, we’re just gonna pray with you again this morning. Lord this morning we pray for Daniel Jr., Lord I pray that uh, in the midst of his incarceration, in the midst of this situation, God I pray that You would begin to reveal Yourself. Lord, I pray You’d send the right people and speak the right things Lord that would um, capture his…not only his attention but capture his heart. Lord, I pray that um, that God You would do a complete and deep work. Lord, it would be easy to pray for a quick and easy rescue from this problem but God so much more we need a deep and complete work in him, Lord, one that draws him to You. And so, God do Your work. Lord, I pray that in the midst of that God that somehow, You’d also do a work and reach uh, his siblings and Daniel Jrs mom. God there is so much redemption and possibility and opportunity here. And I just pray that You’d do that work that only You can do. Lord for Daniel and Lady of Victory, God, this morning, I just pray that You would just encourage them. God, that You would give them glimpses of the work that You’re doing in Daniel Jr situation as well as those around him. And God, we give You glory. Amen.

Good morning DAB God bless you all. Kingdom Seeker Daniel I am praying for your son who was arrested. I am praying in the name of Jesus to have an encounter with God first and foremost. I am praying in the name of Jesus for God to mercy, for God’s grace to be upon him. I am praying for the presence of God to be revealed to him and to pray in the name of Jesus to come to him the way He came to Saul on this road to Damascus. I am praying in the name of Jesus for a total turnaround in the name of Jesus. And to use this experience to be a witness to others of what God is doing in his life in the name of Jesus. And I am praying for the Comforter to be upon all of you as you all go through this process regarding your son in the name of Jesus. Alavia from New Mexico you called in for your co-worker um who lost her daughter who was murdered 2 months ago and other family members who she also lost I am prayer for financial struggles and the spiritual warfare. I cannot imagine what she’s going through, I just can’t. Just knowing that she lost her daughter to murder and…and everything else is just like, it…it, it just overwhelms. I am praying for the Comforter to be upon her in the name of Jesus. I am praying for God’s love to just be wrapped around her that she would be smothered up in His love in the name of Jesus. I am praying in the name of Jesus that the Lord is gonna open doors for her that’s going to bring financial freedom in the name of Jesus. I am binding every spiritual attack upon her in the name of Jesus. This is Esther from Orlando uh Kissimmee Florida haha.

Hey Daily Audio Bible my name is Zachary Star and I barely ever call in but I’ve been a long-time listener and I’ve always appreciated the Daily Audio Bible. And I was just wondering if anyone has it on their heart to pray for me? I feel, for some time now, very certain that God is calling me to be a pastor. And more specifically I pray that as God equips me and calls…you know, and calls me to be the man He wants me to be, that He would be the one to shape me. That His hand would be the one that shapes me to be the pastor that He has called me to be. I…one of the challenges I see going forward and just in life, I want to be who God calls me to be, I want to do the right thing and the way He would want me to do, and I see so many things done today at church that I don’t necessarily think that’s the way it should be. And everybody has a certain frame, uh, a frame that has either been constructed for you know, for things to be more easily understood uh, we have different denominations, we have church governments but when it comes down to it I really want people to know Him and that’s really what it’s all about. But that’s what God is calling me to do if you could just pray and that God would be the one that would shape me. Um, we have His word, we have His Holy Spirit and I really want Him to be the soul shaper of my life, even in my calling. If you could just pray for me, I would really appreciate it, thank you very much. I hope you will all will be blessed and be encouraged in Jesus name. Amen.

2 Samuel 9:1-11-27, John 15:1-27, Psalm 119:49-64, Proverbs 16:1-3

Today is the 26th day of May welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m sorry…I was…I was like chewing something. Okay. I think I’m all in the clear now. I didn’t want to chew so close to your ear. So, here we are, the 26th day of May already to take the next step forward as we continue this journey. And first up, of course, we’ll be moving back into the Old Testament, which lands us back in second Samuel squarely in the life of King David. So, we’re reading from the Evangelical Heritage Version, the EHV, this week. Second Samuel 9, 10, and 11 today.

Commentary:

Okay. Second Kings today. It’s like we were going along so well. What happened? All of a sudden what happened? David has been this upstanding, upright, godly God-fearing king who brings justice to his people. The people respect David. They know what he went through with Saul and they watched his ascension to power and the way that he was humble in all of it. And the next thing we know, we flip the page and Bathsheba’s naked taking a bath and he sees her, and he sends for her and she comes and she’s another man’s wife and…I mean…she gets pregnant, so they get together. And it’s a difficult situation because it’s the king. So, does…you know, she doesn’t really have any say in the matter, her husband Uriah is off fighting a battle on behalf of King David while King David is sitting in the palace sleeping with his wife. And then it turns out she’s pregnant and she sends word back. So, now she is bearing a prince, the royal a royal child. And David’s got this situation. But he seems to be decisive about what he is going to do and it’s like what is going to do is only bad. He calls for Uriah the Hittite to come from the battle and what he’s gonna do is kinda give Uriah a furlough so that he can go home and be with his wife, get rested up, maybe cover-up the pregnancy. Not maybe. Cover-up the pregnancy and all that transpired to make her pregnant. But Uriah won’t behave after that fashion. He has honor for his fellow soldiers his king and the battle, the mission that they are on and he won't…he won’t do it. The irony is now, that Uriah is acting more like David than David. And David is acting more like Saul than anybody else in this situation. Saul tried to send David into battle lots of times to get him killed. Now David, after seeing that he’s not going to get Uriah to go home and cover this whole thing up, sends him back to the front lines where he will most certainly be killed. And he most certainly is killed. One of the little, little pieces of this story that is so fascinating is, later on when we kinda get to the end of David’s life and his reign we’ll meet a lot of names, like a big recap, all the different kinds of people that were involved in what they did and there will be the valiant soldiers…like the best of the best of the nation, they’ll be named, the mighty warriors, the mighty warriors of Israel, the mighty warriors of King David and Uriah the Hittite was one of them. One of the most loyal, dedicated gifted committed warriors David had. He had him killed to cover up what he had done, which looks way more like Saul. And we’ll continue this story because it hasn't…I mean we’re kind of in the middle of this story. So, we have some more territory to cover but what seems to become quite apparent in this story is very very similar warnings that came through Moses. When you get into that land and you don’t have anything to fight for anymore and all is going well, when you find that you are living in houses you didn’t build, and you’re eating from vineyards you didn’t plant, all is well all around you, prosperity is the norm then don’t forget who your God is because when you make that turn it may take a minute but it’s over. In so many ways that is what we see here. David has been a warrior, he has been fighting, he has been honorable, he’s been holding and clinging to God for his very life. So many times, he’s clinging to God as the only hope to stay alive and God has kept them alive, but now he has subdued his enemies. He has been blessed. He has everything that he could want, and he wants Bathsheba. He wants something he can’t have, he’s not supposed to have, but he’s got it all and peace is on every side, and there’s no reason to cling to God for dear life anymore. And, so, he gets himself to the position where this type of thing could happen. It doesn’t have to…I mean for us to apply this to our lives doesn’t have to be adultery, doesn’t not to be sexual, doesn’t not be anything like that. It could be anything that can distract us, anything that can make us self-sufficient, a decision that we make out of our own strength and out of our own power and out of our own means to do something, to do something despite God, to do something without consulting God, to do something that we might even know God would not approve of but we’re in a good place, we’re resourced well, we’re gonna do what we want to do because we’re not clinging for dear life. We’ve lost the plot of the wilderness, which is exactly what Moses was telling the children of Israel before they came into the promised land, “do not lose the plot of the wilderness. You are utterly dependent on God no matter what. And, so, when you get into the promised land and it doesn’t look like that anymore don’t forget.” David obviously has forgotten, at least for the moment, and we are guilty of the same so many times in our lives. So, let’s think about that because the thing that we continually pray for is blessing and relief from the pressures around us, but when the pressures are relieved we no longer need to cling in utter devotion to God, we have things back under control and we…we repeat the cycle. If we could get off that train, if we could just truly finally realize we are utterly dependent on God no matter what, no matter what the circumstance. Whether the circumstances are trying or whether we just have infinite abundance, we are still utterly dependent upon God. When we lose that plot…I mean…this is one of the central plots of the Bible. Like all…what…let’s just continue to watch. We’ll see what happens to a people when they lose that plot and then we can understand what happens to us because we’re in the middle of it right now. And as we can see from the story of David when you lose that plot, really really bad things can happen.

Prayer:

Father, we don’t want to lose that aspect of the story. It’s a central deep foundational part of our story. You have created us. You are our Creator. We are dependent upon You. We are not independent of You. We need You for survival. And You have only ever been willing to Father us, yet we just act like rebellious children most of the time. So, forgive us, because it is from Your hand that all good things that have ever happened in our lives have flowed, and we have no desire to dishonor or disrespect that in any way. But we do when we…when we get lost in our own story, when we get disoriented and upside down and start believing that we have control, and we have power and if You’re not gonna come through then we’re gonna come through. And we just get this thing so upside down and it has led us to the same place, some sort of destruction of our own making in some sort of way in our lives. And, so, we’re asking for forgiveness. We’re repenting, we’re changing our mind about this type of behavior. We repent. You are our only hope. We are utterly dependent on You for everything. Help us to remember this Father, we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi DAB family, I’ll call myself Child of God. I’m a faithful listener since October of last year and first-time caller. I’ve begun journaling daily and logging prayer requests. Though I’ve been a Christian all my life the DAB has helped me grow so much spiritually, especially my prayer life. After hearing Momma D from Indiana’s request for prayer for healing for her marriage even after two years of petition because of being encouraged by God Smile’s story, I decided to ask the DAB family for prayers for my broken family. We live in a small rural town and our three married children with young families all live here too, serving the Lord faithfully. We have a 30-year family business. We’ve raised our family here. After our middle son finished college and joined our business conflict began plaguing us. I was constantly playing mediator in the roles of wife and mother. My husband feeling betrayed if I’d side with my son on issues. Our success has made him prideful and headstrong. Delegating the work and spending little time actually managing the business or being there yet unwilling to let go of any power and decision making. He had an affair 4 years ago, he blamed me for it, and it went on for two years. This shattered our world. My kids were our rock for me through it all. Counseling helped me but my husbands hardened heart became more hard and the relationship between him and our son became worse. Our son sought counseling, but his father refused. Our son left the business 1 year ago and now his father goes around painting him as ungrateful, unappreciative, and disloyal. Things have gotten very ugly. We’re now separated. Please pray for wisdom and direction as I navigate through this storm, for my husbands hardened heart to be softened and for my hurting children and grandchildren. Thank you.

Hey DAB family it’s His River and Rain here calling from the UK. I’ve just been listening to the 8th of May and I’ve just heard our sisters Viola’s voice and I just want to pray for her Lord. She’s a very servant, prayer-filled member of the DAB family and she’s always calling in to prayer over us, always calling in to, you know, just give her prayers and give her blessings and comfort to people, Lord. So, I just want to pray that our sister Viola and she’s such a God-filled woman, you know, spirit filled and…and everything and I just want to continue to say God just to bless her just to love on her, comfort her. She’s always praying for us all and I’m just so glad God that you’ve chosen her, you’ve chosen Viola to be part of this family, you’ve chosen her at this specific time to be with us all, to praying for us all. And God I just ask that You continue to bless her and continue to favor her, continue to just fill her with Your Holy Spirit and anything that she’s going through God cause she continues to pray for us, she continues to pray for…for, for the DAB family. I just ask that anything that she’s going through, Lord may you bless it Father God, may You heal and restore anything that she’s going through and just continue to just fill her up God so there’s, you know, less of us and, you know, less of me and more of You, less of me and more of You God in every situation. We ask the same for Viola God. We pray over her so much God and we thank You so much. And so, to sister Viola, we love you, we love you so much and I love hearing your voice, I smile every time I hear it. And I just want to give blessings and ask that God blesses you and favors you and keeps you. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

Hello Daily Audio Bible family. You guys have been a huge encouragement to me just hearing everybody pray for each other. I just joined the family in late February, early March-ish and I’m play catch up. So, you guys are about a month ahead of where I am so now but I’m still hearing all the prayers and all the people who take a genuine interest in the life of their fellow Christians and…and those people hurting and…and trying to lift them up and…and I came here looking to just find a place to hear God’s word and…and I think God has brought me here to…just to soften my heart and give me a heart for others. And you guys demonstrated that so well and I want to say thank you. And…and just keep it up guys. And Have a great day.

Good morning Daily Audio Bible listeners Isaiah 66:16-20 Come and listen all you who fear God let me tell you what He has done for me. I cried out to Him with my mouth, His praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished sin in my heart the Lord would not have listened. But God has surely listened and heard my voice and prayer. Praise be to God who has not rejected my prayer or withheld His love from me. Psalm 67:1 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make His face shine upon us that our ways may be known on the earth…that Your ways Oh Lord may be known on the earth and Your salvation among all the nations. And I just want to praise God for what He has done. I had been praying for my youngest son Jordon who had gone…7 years ago had gone off on the wrong…the…the evil ways of this world. I mean he had…was bound by the enemy. And I never…my husband and I never stopped praying, we fasted, we prayed, we interceded, we always let him know that we were there for him, loved him and thank God last year he accepted Jesus all on his own through a YouTube video of a street preacher and now as of today he loves Jesus, he has surrendered his whole life. He has made King Jesus, king of his heart. He got married in February. He is having a baby and God is good. So, keep on praying for your sons and your daughters. Do not let the enemy take ‘em, you say no Satan you will not take my kids. My kids belong to God. Be like a dog on a bone, do not let go. Keep trusting in God with faith, tenacity and just keep on praying for your children. And ask God to guide you by His Spirit with what to do and how to help them in any way shape or form and pray for other believers to be placed in their life to be given the…the word of truth…

2 Samuel 7:1-8:18, John 14:15-31, Psalm 119:33-48, Proverbs 15:33

Today is the 25th day of May welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it is wonderful to be here with you today as we…as we lock in and buckle up and do what we do every day, take the next step forward on the journey that we have embarked on through the scriptures this year. And I guess we’re moved into 2 Samuel by now since we’re moving into chapter 7, but we’ve probably got the lay of the land. 2 Samuel is dealing with the life of David, whereas 1 Samuel was dealing with the life of Saul. And as we’re dealing with both of these people there are sharp contrasts, and we can find things about ourselves in both of these men. And now we’re focusing on David who is king of all Israel at this point and is Israel’s 2nd king. And, so, we pick up the story in Samuel chapters 7 and 8.

Commentary:

Okay. So, through the course of our year so far and even recently we’ve talked about the boxes that get made to stuff God in so that we can have a better understanding of God but He’s bigger than the box and He won’t fit in the box. And, so, that kinda…kinda gets us disgruntled and we can’t figure out mystery. So, we’ve talked about these kinds of things that bring us tension on our journey of faith. We actually have a real God box described today in the Old Testament in the book of 2 Samuel. David is now firmly established as “the” king of Israel. There are now rivals, he is the king, and he has used that kingdom to subdue the enemies all around him so that there’s respect and peace around the nation. And David has had a very nice palace built and gifted to him. And, so, he lives in this nice palace. Basically, he’s able to slow down a little bit and look around that all that he has and all that he’s in control of and he has this rev…revelation, this sort of realization that his nation is in good shape, he’s in good shape, he has everything he could dream of but…but God, the Lord God who made all this possible still lives in the same tent that He’s been living in, the tabernacle, since…since the time of Moses. And, so, actually from a good place in David’s heart he’s thinking, you know, he’s making this comparison and thinking “I have it better than God. Like, I have been blessed with so much here and then the Lord is living in a tent and we need to make God a spectacular home to live in. This box, this walled in area, this temple for God to live in.” And David shares that with the Prophet Nathan who’s like, “yeah, if that’s in your heart than do what’s in your heart.” But that wasn’t what was in God’s heart. That’s the thing. And, so, God’s speaks to Nathan who then comes back to David and this is where we get this…this kind of God box description. Through Nathan the prophet, God says to David, “are you the one to build a house for me to live in? I have not lived in a house from the day I brought the people of Israel up out of Egypt until today. I have been moving around in the tent and the dwelling. I have traveled everywhere with all the people of Israel. Did I ever speak a word to any of the judges of Israel whom I commanded to shepherd my people or ask them, ‘why have you not built a house of cedar for me?’” I think this is really interesting because what God is saying is, “you know, you’re not gonna put Me in a box. I am out and among the people where I have always been. Everywhere you’ve gone I’ve gone with you and led you. That’s how this works.” Now as we know, Solomon, David’s son, the next king who we haven’t met yet, he will be given permission to build a permanent temple. And he actually will bring Israel to its finest…finest hour. But it’s interesting to just sit there and look at David, look at what he might be thinking realizing how blessed he is, how fortunate. I mean he has had his share of struggle. So…and so there is no way that he can’t appreciate where he is now. Running…he was running for his life from cave to cave and now he’s the king. And he knows that this only happened at the hand of God. And he looks around at all he has and in his good heart wants to build something even bigger for God. And isn’t that kind of what we do? Like God has blessed me and I need to build something big for God and we start thinking along those lines. And man, it gets mixed motive.…our motives get mixed really, really quick. Cause we’re gonna build this big thing and people are gonna see us build this big thing and so we’re gonna get the notoriety and the performance value for building this big thing for God. And maybe God doesn’t want that thing built. Maybe He’s just fine being out and among the people. What exactly would we conceive of building for God that just on the face of it is gonna be so impressive that God becomes speechless? I’m mean we’re talking about the Being who spoke the world into existence. So, what are we going to build for God? That really, really checks our…our motivations. That really, really checks why we would try to do some of the things that we try to do. What we ultimately find out as we continue the journey through the…the bible is that we are the temple of God and God indwells us and is everywhere that people are, He’s within us and among us and hovering around us. So, He doesn’t really need the box. It’s we…we seek out the box so we can say, “there…there is God, that’s where God is, that’s what God does, that’s what God does not do. Whatever is not in that box is not of God.” So, what if we were to start realizing that we are that temple, that box, if we want to call it that? Are we open? Are we surrendered? Like are…are we available or are we a closed box and we just tell God who He is and what He does and doesn’t do all the time? We just quote scriptures back to Him like He’s forgotten or never really even knew what was in the bible. And we sing worship songs that describe for Him who He is as if He doesn’t know anymore. What kind of freedom would there actually be if we let go of all of that and said God is God, which is well, well, well beyond any possibility of my human understanding? Like, all of eternity, a billion, billion years from now I will still be learning new things about the Lord. So, I…I do not know what I think that I know. What kind of freedom would there be in just believing in faith that He loves us profoundly and wants to draw near and we don’t have to come up with a formula for that, we just have to draw near back? Think of the freedom in that, the freedom of being in a loving relationship. Let’s live into that today.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit come. We are so often trying to become aware of Your presence through our intellect when You remain beyond anything that we can conceive of. We only see glimpses and…and they’re so good that we want more, but it’s You who comes in Your kindness and graciousness to be among us. So, we want to experience You for who You are in the gentle, unhurried way of…of actual love, of actual relationship instead of us running around thinking of what we need to do to impress You or what we need to do to impress everybody else so it can seem as if we’re closer to You. We don’t need any of that. We just need intimacy with You. There’s nothing else that our heart…like this is what our hearts truly crave, and we fill it with all kinds of other stuff. And, so, forgive us for, even though we’re the temple of being a closed box that simply tries to control You. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

dailyaudiobible.com, that’s home base, and that’s how to get connected and stay connected and find out what’s happening around here. So, check that out. If you’re using the Daily Audio Bible app you can access all of these things from there. There is a Drawer icon in the upper left-hand corner of the app and you hit that, and it pops open a drawer.

And, so, you can access things like the Community section, which is where the Prayer Wall lives as well as the Daily Audio Bible Shop where there are resources there for this journey. All kinds of stuff. We have the Daily Audio Bible journal in the Shop that we’ve developed over the years to be the perfect size to carry around. Like, it’s just the…the “the” journal that we’re using around here to journal in. Things to write in like the Black Wing pencil line. I love journaling with a pencil. That’s been going on for several years now. Everybody has their own preference but it’s a little old school to have a really great pencil and sharpen that pencil and write in your own hand, old school, in your own penmanship no matter how bad it might be, to say things. And I’ve journaled digitally in my life, I’ve done that, it’s just a different kind of process than just sitting down, sharpening a pencil and just kind of allowing what’s in your heart, what’s in your mind to flow out onto the page. It’s really, really helpful and the precedent is very much in the bible. We’re continually instructed to remember, remember what happened here, don’t forget God’s faithfulness and…and when we’re pouring that out on the page in our own hand it sure is nice to go back when things get foggy and it seems very unclear, to be able to go back and see, yeah, that thread is true. God has always been here and has always been faithful. And we begin to tell the story back to ourselves as we read through our journal. And it’s an incredible thing. So, stuff like that, resources like that are in the Daily Audio Bible Shop. So, check that out.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible you can do that at dailyaudiobible.com as well. And I can’t thank you enough other than to say what I say on a regular basis. This wouldn’t be happening if we weren’t in this together. That’s just a fact. And, so, I’m humbled and awed and grateful that we are on this journey and have been on this journey for these years. And I thank you with all of my heart for your partnership. So, yeah, there’s a link on the homepage. If you’re using the app, you can press the Give button in the upper right-hand corner or the mailing address is P.O. Box 1996 Spring Hill, Tennessee 37174.

And as always if you have a prayer request or encouragement you can hit that Hotline button in the app, the little red button up at the top, you can’t miss it or you can dial 877-942-4253.

And that’s it for today. I’m Brian I love you and I’ll be waiting for you here, tomorrow.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi, good morning this is D from New York. I’m about a four-year listener and second time caller. My first call was early March when I, my husband, and my son were sick with COVID. And, so, this is a praise report to say that we’ve all recovered very well. Thank God and thank you for your prayers, especially Randal’s who I heard a couple of days after I recorded my prayer request. I’m also calling for Mom Tries. I just heard her prayer request. Congratulations on becoming a pro athlete, a pro triathlete. I totally understand the jitters and the nerves that you may be experiencing or maybe not quite since I’m not a pro athlete. I am a 66, 67-time marathoner, a novice triathlete and as an indoor athlete I totally understand, and I get it. And I pray that you perform well this weekend at that full Iron Man and know that all things, you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. I’d like you to give us peace feedback and let us know how it went. Praying for you girl. You’re going to do wonderfully. Bye-bye.

Good morning DAB family this is Laura from Eugene, Oregon. I’m just calling in with a grateful heart this morning as I’m listening to the reading, as I listen to Brian’s commentary, to the prayer requests and the prayers being lifted up. Thank you each one of you. I am so so grateful to be a part of this Daily Audio Bible community. I just wanted to share an answered prayer. I called in a while back with a prayer request from my son’s mental health. He was really in a bad place and it’s always concerning with him and he is such in a better place now. Prayer is powerful. So, thank you. I just pray now that he can come to know the Lord again. He accepted the Lord as a child but he’s far away now. So, that’s where that true healing can happen. So, I just am praying and asking you to pray with me for his return to the Lord. His name is Andrew. And then I’m also asking prayer for my mom Alice who just received a cancer diagnosis this week. It was very unexpected, and we’re all in a little bit of shock and not knowing where to go next. So, of course we are turning to the Lord and I’m asking you for prayer for healing and for wisdom and discernment as we go forward and navigate this whole situation. Thank you DAB family. I am so grateful for each one of you and I love to pray for you. It’s my honor.

Hello this is Gods Tree From Many Branches But I Am Rooted in the Word of God. I’m calling because I feel like I needed to give some words of encouragement. About two years ago I called DAB desperate, crying, and upset because I got an announcement that my brother was suicidal, and the police were looking for him and everybody was looking for him and we didn’t know where he was, and I called you all immediately to start praying immediately for my brother. Praise God, we found him, and they were able to get him help, and he was… he had a total breakdown. He went through a total mental break, but God was able to restore him and get him to counseling he need and get him back on track. And it’s been two years later, and he is living happily. He is in love with the Lord, he is trusting God for everything in his life. He still has a lot of things that he needs to straighten out in his life, and he still beats himself up for things that he’s done but he knows God has given him grace and giving him mercy. And he has found joy and he’s found a purpose in life. And I wanted to give this encouragement to those who are struggling right now in dealing with depression and even suicidal thoughts. Bind the enemy and rebuke him in the name of Jesus because there is happiness after the darkness. You will find joy after weeping all night long. God is an awesome God, and He is the Keeper and I just want you to trust Him and believe it’s going to get better, take it from me. In Jesus’ name, I do pray for you. Amen.

I didn’t realize you had a son. Thank God that you’re free and thank God that you’re there and just stay in the word. We’d love to hear from you. Tell Allison Shalom, Shalom. I wanna say, Shannon from Salem, praying for you in your classes, that suicide prevention is great. Prayerfully, with all the depression and everything that somebody will latch on and see that life is worth living and God would give ’em joy. Gracious Father we just lift you up. We praise you for the DABbers, we praise you for the light. I want to pray also for those who have lost their mothers or lost their fathers or are going through with their children with the depression and everything that’s going on Lord, we just ask You the names I call and the ones that are going through with the depression the one that’s going through with the COVID. 2 Samuel 4:1-6:23, John 13:31-14:14, Psalm 119:17-32, Proverbs 15:31-32

Today is the 24th day of May welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is great to be here with you every day, every day it’s great to be here around this Global Campfire with you. Everyday there’s something new, another step out in front of us. And so, let’s dive into that, take that next step forward which…which will lead us back into the book of 2 Samuel where we are observing David. And, we’ll talk about this a little bit at the end but David and Saul, like we’ve had 1 Samuel to compare Saul and 2 Samuel to take a look at David and their very different people and have very different character. So, let’s continue with the story of David; 2 Samuel 4, 5 and 6 today.

Commentary:

Okay, we have a few things to talk about and catch up on. If we…if we first start in the book of 2 Samuel, David is now the king of all Israel so this is now Israel’s second king David and that’s how it will be from this point forward. But as we watched the whole story unfold this is interesting how we can know David is a kind of Israel maybe we know he’s the second king of Israel but we think Saul dies and David becomes king. As we can see that’s not exactly how…I mean this is a new nation and so they have ways of doing things. And so, we had Ishbosheth, we had 2 kings basically. We had Ishbosheth the son of Saul, king of Israel, except for Judah. Judah had already voiced anointed David to be the king of the tribe. And then eventually the rest of the tribes come and…and enter into a covenant with David to be their king. They’re watching David, like, that’s in the narrative so it’s not like we’re speculating here, they’re watching David. It’s very, very interesting because it wouldn’t have been a secret that Saul was hunting for David. And it wouldn’t had been a particularly a…a top national secret that David had eventually defected and become a Philistine to keep him…to stay alive. So, when Saul dies then it’s not gonna be just well David by default is the next king. He…he has defected to the Philistines, he’s in Ziklag and there would need to be consideration about did David have any involvements in Saul’s death because Saul certainly wanted David dead. So, did David finally get a chance at like…is David involved, like what’s going on here? And what we see is David in every way be honorable and very, very much protect the office, like the office of the king. We might call this like protecting the reputation of the crown or something like that in this day-and-age. So, I mean this started with the announcement that Saul was dead, right, when David found out Saul was dead and he had inquiries of this man who had come all the way from the battle lines down to Ziklag to inform David that he had killed King Saul. King Saul had asked to be killed and he did it. Everybody’s watching this and David’s like how dare you touch the Lord’s anointed in that person lost their life. There were a couple of other high-profile incidents like that, that the people really were looking at David’s character and he…he, he probably didn’t know that he was being tested he just did what he thought was right but it pleased the people. So, there was this man named Abner. Abner was like, the leader of Saul’s armies. So, he’s like the chief in command of the military. David had a similar counterpart, his name was Joab, and they all knew each other. They had all served together right? David was in Saul’s army and he had led the Army. These people all knew each other. And I think it was in yesterday’s reading right, we had this meeting of the armies. It was like gonna be twelve people against twelve people but all twenty-four people died instantly in that battle and so a real battle ensued. So, there’s a brother of Joab of David’s military general whose chasing down Abner whose Saul’s military general. He’s chasing him down and they know each other so even as they’re like even as Abner’s fleeing, he’s talking to Asahel who is chasing him like, go after somebody else, don’t chase me, don’t make me strike you down, this is, I don’t want to hurt you. But Asahel wouldn’t…wouldn’t listen and he, Abner killed him. He had to kill him. Well now, Joab has lost a brother in battle and so he’s got a blood vendetta against Abner and when the opportunity arises and it ironically arises when Abner comes to see David and tells him I can deliver the rest of the tribes under your kingship. So…so Joab finds out about this and calls Abner and kills Abner. Everybody’s watching David, did David kill Abner? Now the king’s dead, now this general, this powerful military general whose backing Ishbosheth as king now he’s dead. Did David have anything to do with it? But David didn’t have anything to do with any of these things and so the way he mourns, the way he brings justice, the way he grieves, the way he writes his songs, the people are watching all this and they realize, nope, this is not a long running conspiracy. Because they would have had these conspiracy theories from Saul. And so, they would have wondered what David was up to but they keep watching systematically David behaving ethically and they’re realizing there never was a conspiracy against the king. And they put their trust in David. And then Ishbosheth who’s the other king, he gets assassinated today, right. Baanah and Rechab, these Benjaminites, they come and they bring Ishbosheth’s head to David. And David, once again, the people are watching and he’s like, you think this is good news? It’s not good news to bring me the severed head of a king. That was the Lord’s, like, who are you to make these life and death decisions? And those men lost their lives. David is showing that the office of the king is the anointed of God and that matters no matter who’s in that seat. And since he’s in that seat he’s going to honor it and act honorable toward it and the people that he’s being put in charge of that he is to become the shepherd over. So, all these little things, so different, such different leadership styles, such different character, then what we observed when we were observing Saul. And as we continue to watch David we’ll continue to learn things about ourselves just like we did with Saul.

Okay, then we turn into the New Testament and into the book of John and it’s a…a super pivotal what’s going on in the book of John. We’re at the Last Supper for the last time of this year. Like, we’ve been kind of talking about as we’ve moved here, we’re…we’re getting to the end of the gospels. And in this Last Supper Jesus…Jesus does something that kings don’t do, ever. Jesus got down on His knees in front of His friends and He didn’t just get down on His knees, He got down on His knees and He washed their feet, their filthy, stinking feet. And this was like a live, living example, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Commander of Heaven’s Armies on His knees before His friends, washing them clean. This is one of the last acts that Jesus does of His own accord. Like, He’s free right now. So, He’s down on His knees washing His friends’ feet instead of running for His life into the night. He’s doing this willingly. This would have been indelible. How do you ever forget something like that? The more you thought of it the more meaningful it would be, especially after everything that happened afterward. And Jesus says, and can we listen to this, like we’re not, we’re not gonna really be hearing this again. A new commandment I give you; love one another just as I have loved you. So also, you are to love one another by this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. It’s self-explanatory, I don’t know what I can say, like I can’t make that make more sense. I also just can’t figure out why it’s so hard to see this in practice among God’s people. Like, why are we so committed to fighting each other over doctrine and dogma? Why are we so willing to say such hateful things to each other whether on the internet or in person? Why are we even willing to participate in anything even near that? A new commandment I give you; a commandment. Love one another, you are commanded, I am commanded. If we’re going to follow Jesus we must obey His commandments. And we are commanded to love one another. Not just love one another, love each other like Jesus loved us. That’s the way we’re to love one another. Because everyone will know that we’re the disciples of the Savior if we have love for one another. So, I wonder, you know, is the reverse then true; don’t love one another and everyone will know that you are not my disciples, if you don’t have love for one another? If we could at least give that some thought today as we observe the things that we’re saying and doing.

Prayer:

And so, Jesus, Jesus come into this. It…It’s a struggle. I mean we can put on a facade and go into the world and fake it but to really love one another like You loved us, that’s not something that can be faked. That’s something that’s gotta be cultivated and grown. That only happens through our own surrender of our own rights and our own wrongs. So, help us Jesus to walk Your paths; surrender our rights and wrongs to You. That we might be known by our love. We ask this in Your precious name. Amen.

Prayers and Encouragement:

Hi there, my name is Chris, I’m calling from Alberta, Canada. I just wanted to pray for the lady I heard on the May 20 Daily Audio Bible Reading. She called in for prayer because she was doing her risk assessments for the kids that she works with for COVID and she just felt overwhelmed and I just wanted to pray that Shannon you’re not alone. I used to be a worker on a crisis line so I can imagine what it’s been like in what you’re going through and I heard and that kind of thing and I just pray Lord that Lord you would just wrap your arms around her and give her strength and wisdom. And that those who are struggling right now Lord they would reach out to a crisis line or to a doctor, to the people they…that around them that care about them and that they would be able to have strength to call the right people for that person that assistance in loving care thank you. Jesus name, have a good day guys.

Hi everybody this is Salvation is Mine in San Angelo, California. I know it’s been a while since I’ve been on the Prayer Line and I want to say that I hope everyone is doing well. 2020 was a very hard year and 2021 we’re still in the throes of it but God will see us through. I wanted to request prayers for my family and my extended family as well. My mom went home this morning which is May 20, 2021. She went in her sleep. She was just a few days shy of her 102nd birthday. But God decided to call her home and I know she’s in a better place than being down here in pain and in suffering. So, I wanted to send that request out and also pray for everyone else that’s going through a death, any kind of loss at the moment that we continue to lift them all up in prayer because we never know what kind of pain and suffering they may be going through. Anyways thank you DAB family, take care, God bless and I’ll …

Good morning family this is Benjamin the Sewer calling. It is May 21st but I’ve just been listening to the…the May 12th podcast and man oh man wow just listening to the prayers that came through I felt like my heart was yeah, just being…being ripped open in the best way possible. It is just amazing how the Holy Spirit uses these prayers and this community just to yeah, soften our hearts towards each other. Father I thank You so much for… for Big Hearted Ben. Yeah, I just having…having the same name as him it…and just hearing him call and pray in faith just over people and yeah, and just starting that at such a young age it’s so cool. So, yeah welcome buddy great to hear from ya, just keep calling in. Yeah, there’s a woman, I think it’s Bonnie from Virginia called. Wow, thank you Bonnie so much for sharing some of your story. I think you…you kind of back-tracked and talked about 16 years ago and up until now and to see your faith and just your resilience, you’re trusting in God through everything you’ve gone through with your kids and with your husband, your former husband. It is incredible and you’re just a strong woman. There was also a woman who called in from Texas, just a grandmother. I just want you to know that I am praying for you and for your 15-year-old grandson. I just had a thought that came to mind, I don’t know if he has right now any kind of mentors outside of just his…his parents that are just praying for him and love him but I know for myself just other, ya know, older guys or close Christian friends really did it for me.

Hi family this is Amy from Denmark. Today, I call in asking ya’ll to join me in prayer over my good friend Daniel. As of yesterday, his oldest son was taken into custody by police. It is a young man who has had a troubled life and who is not living a life of Christ and so just please join me as we pray Heavenly Father thank You Lord Jesus that we can come before You. Thank You that You see what is going on in this family right now. Thank You that You see all the brokenness and all the hurt and all the questions and all of the sadness. And thank You that you hear all of these prayers that are being prayed for this young man and his family. God thank You that You’re a God who always shows up when we call on You. You don’t just show up at church when we’re dressed in our Sunday finest. You show up when we’re in the pit, when we’re in the hole, in the darkest of dark places, that’s when you show up. And thank You that even though we seem to be running in the complete opposite direction of You, not wanting anything to do with You, You never cease calling our name. And thank You Lord that You can take a human disaster and turn it into divine beauty. Thank You that You can use this dark place where this young man is, You can use it as part of Your plan to make him surrender his life to You. That is my deepest prayer Jesus that You will make a way and open the ears and heart of this young man. Protect him where he is now and surrender his family with all that they need, all that they need, Jesus. In Your name I pray, Your Holy name Jesus. Amen.

2 Samuel 2:12-3:39, John 13:1-30, Psalm 119:1-16, Proverbs 15:29-30

Today is the 23rd day of May, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible, I’m Brian it is wonderful, wonderful to be here with you today as we greet a brand new shiny sparkly week. And we get to live into together as we continue our journey, day-by-day, step-by-step moving through the scriptures. So, we greet a brand-new week. We’ll read from the Engelical Heritage Version, the EHV, this week. And we’re just getting going in 2 Samuel. We have crossed that threshold but…but we’re gonna be settling into 2 Samuel here now and 2 Samuel will lead us deeper into the story of David who is now King of the Tribe of Judah but that it’s, not the King of Israel. The tribe of Judah has named him their King but there are 2 kings now contending for this throne. Saul’s surviving son Ishbosheth has also been named king so it’s a bit complicated. 2 Samuel chapter 2 verse 12 through 3 verse 39.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word, we thank You for this brand new week that we get to move into and live into and live out together in community as we continue this journey through the last full week of this the 5thmonth of the year, it’s hard to believe but we’ll transition to the 6th month of the year next week and so we pay particular attention as we move through this week, this shiny sparkly week that we get to finish well, if we so choose, we can finish this 5th month well. So, come Holy Spirit lead us into all truths, lead us deeper into our relationship with Jesus we ask. In His mighty name we pray. Amen

Prayers and Encouragement:

You are such a refreshment from the Lord. I appreciate you sister so much for your ministry. And then for my brother, Dwayne from Wisconsin man I am so with you like never before concerning Nathan. I am praying that the Lord will run Nathan down and bring him into full surrender in the name of Jesus, as well as for Nicholas. I pray that your heart will and your wife’s hearts will be strengthened and that God will show himself and prove himself as the great rescuer. And speaking of rescue, my son Daniel the II is in trouble big-time family. I just learned on last night that he was arrested for a strong robbery in California. He has been arrested on felony charges and he is being held in Fresno County jail awaiting trial and so I am asking that you would please pray for my son that first and foremost that he would hear the voice of God. That he will surrender and that he will turn to him. So, please family thank you so much in advance for your prayers for my son and we are believing that God will reach him. In Jesus name, love you all.

Hi Daily Audio Bible family this is Renzo in Florida and I just wanted to pray for somebody that I heard call in named Noah that recently for the past, I think he said 9 months that he’s been free from drug addiction and right now he’s going through pornography addiction and I just wanna tell you brother in…in December 2019 when I was in 8th grade, I mean December of 2018, I had a really bad addiction to pornography. It first started off and then it just got really, really bad and then I think in May of 2019 God completely changed my life. He completely healed me of it and I was just…I went into youth group one time and then 1 of my leaders was telling me about how it was bad and it ruins your marriage and it’s just not good. And it’s just so refreshing that God can heal us from anything. That’s how great, mighty and powerful and omnipresent our God is, he is everywhere at one time. And we just…I just want to pray for you. Father God, I just thank You for Noah. I just thank You for his heart for You Lord. And just let the Holy Spirit to guide him and be with him and fill us up and just protect him and any single time he has that thought Lord just let him pray and you will heal him from that God. You guide him, protect him and be with him always and Holy Spirit fill him up. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. Thank you, guys, for everything, thank you for this community where we can reach out and help our fellow believers in Christ. We just thank you for…I just thank you guys so much, I just thank you. You have a blessed rest of your day. Praying for you guys love you guys, Bye.

Hi DAB it’s Alavia from New Mexico. I just…I really want to pray my co-worker. I had a very long conversation with my co-worker and she’s…I can’t believe the amount of things that she’s going through. She’s lost at least 4 family members within the last two years and she’s having financial struggles, spiritual warfare, everything you could think of. She lost her daughter; her daughter was murdered a couple months ago and I just…I really want to pray for her. So, Lord I just pray that You look after my co-worker right now. I pray that You lift anything bad that’s going on with her spiritually. I rebuke anything that’s not supposed to be with her right now. And Lord I pray that Your presence is with her more than ever now and that I pray that things come up from here because I know that she really needs it. I wanna pray for her entire family I know that their going through grief and struggle. I pray that they keep looking forward and keep looking towards You God and I pray that even…no matter who is going through this I pray that you know that I’m praying for you and a lot of people are praying for you. And I hope you know that you’re not alone and because these bad things are happening doesn’t mean that God has abandoned you. I know it seems weird and impossible but please don’t give up but thank you DAB for praying with me. And even if you’re going through anything that you don’t think is really a big problem trust me you could pray for anything. But just know that I love you guys and thank you for the family that I have here. Bye.

2 Samuel 24, 1 Chronicles 21-22, Psalm 30

Welcome to Daily Audio Bible Chronological. I’m Jill, it’s the twenty third day of May. Can you believe it? We are quickly approaching the end of May. It is gonna end and June will be here before we know it. Is anybody else rejoicing that school is over? Hallelujah. Thank you, Jesus. Maybe school’s not done for you guys yet, but we are done and we survived. I survived being Ezequiel’s teacher this year. So we’re praising God that that’s over. He’s already upset only 90 days of summer vacation. I said, kid, you need to enjoy being young and having zero responsibilities while you can because that’ll slip like melted butter on hot bread just as much as everything else is going on these days. We’re in a brand new week. I already said that. Brand new translation. We are starting a brand new translation that we have not read from yet this year. I’m pretty excited about this. We’re reading from the Evangelical Heritage version this week. And today we’re reading 2nd Samuel Chapter twenty-four, First Chronicles, twenty one and twenty two and then Psalm thirty beginning today with Second Samuel Chapter twenty four.

Commentary:

Thank you once again for your word. Thank you for this day. Thank you for your mercy David spoke of today. Knowing that he had done wrong and knowing it was to pick his course of discipline after his awareness of what he had done and David even himself asking that he be handed over into your hands, God, because he knows that your mercy is great, not wanting to be handed over into the hands of a man, but knowing that your mercy is endless, father, that we would be as merciful with each other as you are to us. We can’t do it without you. So we’re asking for more. We’re asking for more of your mercy because we who have been given much, have much to give. So let it fill up in us and spill out and pour over so that we would extend the same mercy to each other God that you extended to David, your king and your servant. Thank you for your newness today, for this new week, this new mercy that’s awaiting us, this new chance to do the next right thing, to change the trajectory of our lives, to break the cycles of generational behaviors and patterns that we have followed for years and years so that we can put an end to the repeated patterns of behavior and words that have been handed down that we have just succumbed to. Thank you for every moment forward after that realization that we have the power to change, we have the power to break it off, and we can do that by the next different choice, different words, different action than what we have been participating in. And we thank you that you Holy Spirit are our great counselor, our great helper, our great convictor that compels us forward to change. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

I try to keep that very sacred in that regard as we’re sharing some very personal things sometimes. Sometimes the women feel like they finally have a friend and a safe place to land to speak out on some things. And so, you know, if you’re curious and you just take a look around, I just know that that is intended to be set aside specifically for women. And we thank you for your cooperation. Community Prayer Line:

Hi, this is Valerie from Canada. I’m calling in for Emme from Illinois. You really touched my heart when you were asking for prayer, for wisdom about your marriage. And I just want to say that you are so loved and that God, God’s heart breaks with yours. And I’m so sorry to hear what is happening. I’m so sorry that you’re not receiving the love that you need,
especially in this time with your baby. And I pray for God’s love to cover you, his shepherding grace and power to shelter you and I and the decisions that you make in every area of your life. I pray his Shalom peace over you in Jesus name. Amen.

Good morning. DABC family. This is Bless Bermuda. This is my first time calling in. And Jill, I want to thank you. Today’s the 20th of May. I want to thank you for your message on repentance. It’s that heart felt turning away and asking for forgiveness. My husband and I are going through a difficult situation right now. And, you know, there’s there’s just been so many things that have been done and said and I just want to thank you that you made me look within and see where I have fallen short. And I’ve asked God and my husband for forgiveness and just, you know, want to move on. I just want to see healing. I want to be that vessel that God wants to use. And so I just thank you for your openness and I just thank you. So I ask for the prayer of the DABC family to just keep us in your prayers. And I know that God has this in control.

This is Protected by His Wings in Tennessee. I was going to give a praise report on baby Andrew, called in a couple of months ago requesting your prayers for this little baby had been born very prematurely, was having severe problems breathing, heart rate, temperature, you name it, digesting food. He was just having all sorts of medical issues. And praise be to God that he was discharged to go home a couple of weeks ago. And he’s doing well. His his parents, his grandparents. They all wanted, though, for anyone who out there pray for them, that they greatly appreciate your prayers. They know that this child, their baby, made it due to the love and grace of God’s healing hand. And I wanted to call and thank you for for praying for baby Andrew. Thank you.

Hey, my sweet DABC fam. This is Kingdom Seeker Daniel. Family, I am calling for your prayers, support. My son has been arrested on felony charges for strong arm robbery, I learned of this last night, which would have been the 19th, today’s the 20th. And he is in the Fresno State County Jail awaiting trial. I am believing that God is at work in my boy’s life like never before, and I’m praying and asking for your prayer, covering that Daniel Christopher Young, the Second will simply say yes to the Lord that he will surrender all of that pain, all of the hurt, all of the regret to the Lord. And that he will find himself walking in the perfect will of God, fulfilling the call that God has in his life. So family, will you please join me and Lady of Victory in  praying for him as well as for his mother? Her name is Viola Parker. She’s in need of prayer as well. Also needing to turn back to the Lord. So thank you. Thank you so much, family that. We can we can come here and share and I so appreciate you guys, you guys are truly amazing. Love you so much. God bless you guys.

Psalm 95, 97, 98-99

It’s the twenty second day of May. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible Chronological. I’m Jill. I am happy to be here with you because I’m on this journey with you as we are journeying through the Bible in chronological order every single day for a year. And it’s truly my pleasure and my most humble honor to be reading the word of God for you and with you along on this journey. Today, we’re reading in the Psalm and we’re reading Psalm ninety five, Psalm ninety seven, ninety eight and ninety nine. And we are still this week in the English Standard version. Psalm ninety five.

Commentary:

Well, guys, I’m going to be honest, it’s been a really hard week for us. I mentioned a few days ago Brian lost a mentor of his that left an indelible mark on his life. And it is no small statement. It’s the absolute truth that the podcast would not be in effect without his mentor, Bernard Terry, who taught him music, who taught him how to navigate his way through a studio and the industry which ultimately brought him to here. And then the next day, I lost a friend. That was my fifth grade teacher, Mr. Chuck Flowers. And today Mr. Flowers was laid to rest, his memorial was today. And just in the midst of some other tough things. And, you know, I don’t like to make this so personal that it takes away from the Bible, but I also know that it’s sharing in the struggle that makes us relatable with each other, that we can identify our own struggle if we never hear that somebody else’s struggle then we sit in the shame and the feelings that we’re all alone and that nobody understands what we’re going through. And that’s just not true. I actually wish there were more people in ministry that were willing to be vulnerable with the struggle and not just always talking about the overcoming high mountaintop experiences. Those are wonderful. They’re rightfully celebrated. But there’s something very powerful about when we share our pain, when we share our struggles. And my heart is heavy today, thinking about Mr. Flowers. And the only reason why I am mentioning this is because you have those people in your lives that when you look back and reflect, you undoubtedly know there was a changing point in your own life. Like I did not proceed the same after this happened. And Mr. Flowers was that for me, he was a kind, gentle, yet strong, solid rock in his faith. Steadfast, fun, fair, just honorable, good, great man. If he had you as a student, he knew everyone in your family by name, he knew of your parents. Just an unforgettable year and still not to the reason why I’m mentioning it. Still just explaining him to you, Mr.Flowers, was someone that was always safe. We were safe with him. He was trustworthy. And I find those qualities irreplaceable in humanity. Where I’m landing. This is I found out last year. Let me back up just a little bit. We connected about ten years ago on Facebook and we just exchanged sentiments. And of course, he asked by name of every single one of my family members. And I’m a big fan of letting people know the impact that they’ve had on our lives in this life and not after they’re gone in a room full of strangers. And so I did that often and I would just reach out and let them know how much I still value the lessons that he taught. And you can imagine my shock when I found out last year that he and his family went through the Daily Audio Bible together with the entire family, and they would just keep this running thread of conversation going in a family text. Mr. Flowers son, whom I graduated with years ago, listened to the Daily Audio Bible for several years before he ever knew that Brian was my husband and that we graduated together. And I think Brian mentioned something of my music and in the name and because I stayed with my maiden name, Dan recognized it and we connected. So I know that he listened. It just was something else to know that your teacher, who taught you and influenced your life in such a way. That it is forever changed is then partaking in something that you’re doing and hoping that it matters in this life. And so I just really wanted to honor him today as he’s laid to rest. His sons are are wonderful. One is pastor and a counselor, and the other one works for the Food Bank of Ohio. So you can see that their heritage is rich and it lives strong through my friend Chuck Flowers. And I do so because he was a member of this community. He didn’t miss for a year last year and 20 twenty. And so you may not have ever known him or that fact, but it just was really important for me to honor this man who has also left an indelible mark on my life. So Mr. Flowers is home, is in the presence of God, and I am thankful and grateful for the hope of eternity. But I’m not going to dismiss the grief and the pain that we feel here on this Earth just because they are home. It is quite a shock to our reality that this person that we have only known in this life is suddenly gone and will be for for the rest of our lives. So understanding where they are is right and beautiful. But honoring and understanding where we are at in this place of loss is also right and beautiful and necessary as a part of the grieving process. So thank you for allowing me the chance to honor this beautiful human being. Chuck Flowers today on the day that his family honors and puts into perspective the fullness of his life here on Earth. We thank you that while we mourn, while we grieve, while we experience loss here on this earth, that your presence is with us, that there can be holy moments in the pain and in the sadness and holy moments and the joy. Thank you for this community and how well they love one another, how well they bear one another’s burdens, encouraging one another, praying for one another, seeing one another, sharing their experiences with one another. And I thank you, God, even for the pain, the pain of this life as Jesus himself said, blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted. But we so quickly forget that he calls us blessed as we grieve, as we mourn, as we feel the loss, as we sit with the heaviness. So we thank you for your word. That is life to us. That speaks to us. That is your presence with us, the living, breathing word of God that never returns void. We absolutely love you. And worship you and thank you for this day. Right now here today, these moments together right here. In the name of the father and the son. And the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Community Prayer Line:

Hi DABC, this is Riley from Colorado. I am actually a first time caller and I’m also kind of new to this scene. A friend referred me to this app back in December, and I started listening the first of January and have been listening up until now. I’ve been trying to figure out who I am religiously and spiritually, and this podcast has really helped me a lot and really sets my mood for the day. And how I go throughout my day is very different when I miss a day. But anyway, Jill, I just wanted to say thank you for making this environment so warm and welcoming. I’ve learned a lot. And like I said, I love listening every day. But the main reason I’m calling today is because I heard a prayer request from Emme from Illinois. And I cannot even begin to understand what you’re going through. But I can tell that you’re in a lot of pain. And I just want you to know that you are in my prayers and I’m thinking about you. All right. Thanks, guys.

Hi. This is Teresa from North Carolina, and this is in response to Emme from Illinois. Emme, just hearing your voice today and your plea for your marriage and your pregnancy just it just caught me on so many levels. I just wanted to pray for you so badly, and I did. And so I just want you to know that you’re not alone, that you’re loved, and you have a community of people that are loving you and praying for you. You mentioned that you had a safe place to go, and that probably may not be a bad idea right now. If you have a safe place to go, you might be good for you to step away and have some space and to pray. Pray for your husband. Pray that God’s will be done. Pray for discernment. Pray for guidance. Pray for the broken hearts. Pray for your step children. Praying for somebody that has hurt us is probably the hardest thing to do. But God will honor that, whether it’s in reunification or not. To have a healthy friendship if the marriage doesn’t work out is equally as important. So let me just pray right now. Dear Heavenly Father, we just come to you on behalf of Emme in Illinois and her baby Lord. We come to you on behalf of their marriage. Lord, we ask that you be involved in every situation, every action. We ask that her husband come to know you as well, so he can love his family and treat them the way that they deserve to be treated. God, marriage is not hard. It is not for the weak. It is not for the weary. But we ask that you be in it. In Jesus name we pray. Emme, I am Teresa Levy on Facebook if you need to reach out. I’m also on Daily Audio Bible Chronological Friends. Thank you Lord for Emme from Illinois. Thank you that she loves you. She has a heart for you. Thank you that you’re working in her life. Thank you. That you ordained the days of her life. Thank you that you before you lay the foundations of the earth, you knew that this day would come. Thank you. You’re in control of all things. Thank you that you look at all the things and you’re always there for us. Give you the praise for that. Thank you, Lord, for marriage. Thank you for her heart to look after her family. Thank you for her love- even foster children. Thank you, Lord. We give you the thanks, we pray, Lord, we bring up before you, Lord, we lay before your throne now and we ask you that you intervene in a situation that you show the light and the truth in a situation that the scales may fall off the eyes of either her or her husband or even both. Anywhere there is deception. Lord, we pray that your truth and your light will show the way. You are the author of marriage. You are the wealth of this institution. And we can only do it in your strength and your way. And it is our prayer today, Lord, that that be the case for Emme and her husband and the family. That your name will be glorified, that the situation that you put in place will flourish and be a light in the world that so despises it. That your ways and your kingdom will move forward in the name of Jesus we ask and we pray.

Dear Emme from Illinois, may the Lord bless you and keep you. May he make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May he lift up his countenance to you and bring you peace. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted. He hears the cries of the righteous. His eye is on them. And I encourage you to bring every burden to the Lord. And be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, present your request to the Lord and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Dear God, I just wanna lift up Emme from Illinois. I know that she’s having a really hard time in her marriage and with her pregnancy. And she’s looking for guidance. So I just pray that you will guide her, that you will give her the answer she’s looking for. I thank you for her and her faith and her life, Lord. And I just pray that you will be her comforter and that you will lead her to take steps one by one. To where you want her to be and and to to be able to live her life for you in your joy and in your peace and in the way that you want her to, Lord. And I just thank you that she is seeking you and that she is leaving the you know, the decisions to you, Lord, and I just pray that you will be crystal clear with her and that you will answer her in a way that she knows for sure that it’s in your guidance. And and I just pray that you will bless her and her family and her children and her stepchildren in Jesus name. Amen. This is Radiant, Rachel.
