Daniel 9:1-11

Daniel's Prayer for His People

(A)In the first year of (B)Darius the son of Ahasuerus, by descent a (C)Mede, who was made king over the realm of the (D)Chaldeans— in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, perceived in the books the number of years that, according to (E)the word of the Lord to Jeremiah the prophet, must pass before the end of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years.

Then I turned my face to the Lord God, seeking him by (F)prayer and pleas for mercy with fasting and sackcloth and ashes. I prayed to the Lord my God and (G)made confession, saying, (H)“O Lord, the (I)great and awesome God, who (J)keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, (K)we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly (L)and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules. (M)We have not listened to (N)your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to (O)our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. To you, (P)O Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us open shame, as at this day, to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, (Q)those who are near and (R)those who are far away, in (S)all the lands to which you have driven them, because of (T)the treachery that they have committed against you. To us, O Lord, belongs open shame, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because (U)we have sinned against you. (V)To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him 10 (W)and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God by walking in his laws, which he set before us by (X)his servants the prophets. 11 (Y)All Israel has transgressed your law and turned aside, (Z)refusing to obey your voice. (AA)And the curse and oath (AB)that are written in the Law of (AC)Moses the servant of God have been poured out upon us, because (AD)we have sinned against him. 12 He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us and against (AE)our rulers who ruled us,[a] by (AF)bringing upon us a great calamity. (AG)For under the whole heaven there has not been done anything like what has been done against Jerusalem. 13 (AH)As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this calamity has come upon us; yet we have not entreated the favor of the Lord our God, (AI)turning from our iniquities and gaining insight by your truth. 14 (AJ)Therefore the Lord has kept ready the calamity and has brought it upon us, (AK)for the Lord our God is righteous in all the works that he has done, and (AL)we have not obeyed his voice. 15 And now, O Lord our God, who brought your people out of the land of Egypt (AM)with a mighty hand, and (AN)have made a name for yourself, as at this day, (AO)we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

16 “O Lord, (AP)according to all your righteous acts, let your anger and your wrath turn away from your city Jerusalem, (AQ)your holy hill, (AR)because for our sins, and for (AS)the iniquities of our fathers, (AT)Jerusalem and your people have become (AU)a byword among all who are around us. 17 Now therefore, O our God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his pleas for mercy, and for your own sake, O Lord,[b] (AV)make your face to shine upon (AW)your sanctuary, which is desolate. 18 (AX)O my God, incline your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see (AY)our desolations, and (AZ)the city that is called by your name. For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy. 19 O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive. O Lord, pay attention and act. (BA)Delay not, (BB)for your own sake, O my God, because (BC)your city and (BD)your people are called by your name.”

Gabriel Brings an Answer

20 (BE)While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my plea before the Lord my God for (BF)the holy hill of my God, 21 while I was speaking in prayer, the man (BG)Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the first, (BH)came to me in swift flight at (BI)the time of the evening sacrifice. 22 (BJ)He made me understand, speaking with me and saying, “O Daniel, I have now come out to give you (BK)insight and understanding. 23 (BL)At the beginning of your pleas for mercy a word went out, (BM)and I have come to tell it to you, for (BN)you are greatly loved. Therefore consider the word (BO)and understand the vision.

The Seventy Weeks

24 (BP)“Seventy weeks[c] are decreed about your people and (BQ)your holy city, to finish (BR)the transgression, to put an end to sin, (BS)and to atone for iniquity, (BT)to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and (BU)to anoint a most holy place.[d] 25 (BV)Know therefore and understand that (BW)from the going out of the word to restore and (BX)build Jerusalem to the coming of an (BY)anointed one, a (BZ)prince, there shall be seven weeks. Then for sixty-two weeks it shall be built again[e] with squares and moat, (CA)but in a troubled time. 26 And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall (CB)be cut off and shall have nothing. And the people of the prince who is to come (CC)shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. (CD)Its[f] end shall come with a flood, (CE)and to the end there shall be war. (CF)Desolations are decreed. 27 And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week,[g] and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. (CG)And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until (CH)the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.”

Daniel's Terrifying Vision of a Man

10 (CI)In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a word was revealed to Daniel, (CJ)who was named Belteshazzar. And (CK)the word was true, and it was a great conflict.[h] And (CL)he understood the word and (CM)had understanding of the vision.

In those days I, Daniel, was mourning for (CN)three weeks. I ate no delicacies, no meat or wine entered my mouth, nor did I (CO)anoint myself at all, for (CP)the full three weeks. On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was standing (CQ)on the bank of the great river ((CR)that is, the Tigris) (CS)I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, (CT)a man clothed in linen, (CU)with a belt of fine (CV)gold from Uphaz around his waist. His body was like (CW)beryl, his face (CX)like the appearance of lightning, (CY)his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and (CZ)legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and (DA)the sound of his words like the sound of a multitude. (DB)And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me did not see the vision, but a great trembling fell upon them, and they fled to hide themselves. So I was left alone and saw this great vision, and (DC)no strength was left in me. My radiant appearance was fearfully changed,[i] (DD)and I retained no strength. Then I heard the sound of his words, (DE)and as I heard the sound of his words, I fell on my face in deep sleep (DF)with my face to the ground.

10 And behold, (DG)a hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. 11 And he said to me, “O Daniel, (DH)man greatly loved, (DI)understand the words that I speak to you, and (DJ)stand upright, for (DK)now I have been sent to you.” And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling. 12 Then he said to me, (DL)“Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you (DM)set your heart to understand and (DN)humbled yourself before your God, (DO)your words have been heard, (DP)and I have come because of your words. 13 (DQ)The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me (DR)twenty-one days, but (DS)Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia, 14 (DT)and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people (DU)in the latter days. For (DV)the vision is for days yet to come.”

15 When he had spoken to me according to these words, (DW)I turned my face toward the ground (DX)and was mute. 16 And behold, (DY)one in the likeness of the children of man (DZ)touched my lips. Then I opened my mouth and spoke. I said to him who stood before me, “O my lord, by reason of the vision pains have come upon me, and (EA)I retain no strength. 17 How can my lord's servant talk with my lord? For now no strength remains in me, and no breath is left in me.”

18 Again (EB)one having the appearance of a man (EC)touched me and strengthened me. 19 And he said, (ED)“O man greatly loved, (EE)fear not, peace be with you; be strong and of good courage.” And as he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.” 20 Then he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? But now I will return to fight against the (EF)prince of Persia; and when I go out, behold, the prince of (EG)Greece will come. 21 But I will tell you (EH)what is inscribed in the book of truth: there is none who contends by my side against these except (EI)Michael, your prince.

The Kings of the South and the North

11 “And as for me, (EJ)in the first year of (EK)Darius the Mede, I stood up to confirm and strengthen him.

Warning Concerning Antichrists

18 Children, (A)it is the last hour, and as you have heard that (B)antichrist is coming, so now (C)many antichrists have come. (D)Therefore we know that it is the last hour. 19 (E)They went out from us, but they were not of us; for (F)if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, (G)that it might become plain that they all are not of us. 20 But you have been (H)anointed by (I)the Holy One, and (J)you all have knowledge.[a] 21 I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is the liar but (K)he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is (L)the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. 23 (M)No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also. 24 Let (N)what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then (O)you too will abide in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is the promise that he made to us[b](P)eternal life.

26 I write these things to you about (Q)those who are trying to deceive you. 27 But (R)the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and (S)you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and (T)is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.

Children of God

28 And now, little children, abide in him, so that (U)when he appears (V)we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his (W)coming. 29 If you know that (X)he is righteous, you may be sure that (Y)everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him.

See (Z)what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called (AA)children of God; and so we are. The reason why (AB)the world does not know us is that (AC)it did not know him. Beloved, we are (AD)God's children (AE)now, and what we will be (AF)has not yet appeared; but we know that (AG)when he appears[c] (AH)we shall be like him, because (AI)we shall see him as he is. And everyone who (AJ)thus hopes in him (AK)purifies himself as he is pure.

Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; (AL)sin is lawlessness. You know that (AM)he appeared in order to (AN)take away sins, and (AO)in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; (AP)no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him.

Psalm 121

My Help Comes from the Lord

A Song of (A)Ascents.

121 I (B)lift up my eyes to (C)the hills.
From where does my help come?
(D)My help comes from the Lord,
who (E)made heaven and earth.

He will not (F)let your foot be moved;
he who (G)keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is your (H)shade on your (I)right hand.
(J)The sun shall not (K)strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.

The Lord will (L)keep you from all evil;
he will (M)keep your life.
The Lord will keep
your (N)going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore.

Proverbs 28:27-28

27 Whoever (A)gives to the poor will not want,
but he who (B)hides his eyes will get many a curse.
28 When (C)the wicked rise, (D)people hide themselves,
but when they perish, the righteous increase.

He will not (F)let your foot be moved;
he who (G)keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is your (H)shade on your (I)right hand.
(J)The sun shall not (K)strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.

The Lord will (L)keep you from all evil;
he will (M)keep your life.
The Lord will keep
your (N)going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore.

Today is the 1st day of December, the first day of the 12th month of the year. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It's…it’s wonderful to be here with you. We ended a week and ended a month yesterday. So, that means we’re beginning a week and beginning a month today and what a glorious month it’s going to be. Today is the first Sunday and a season that’s on the Christian calendar known as Advent. So, many of you will certainly be hearing about that in church today and many of you may be like. “yeah, I’ve heard the name Advent before but that’s just something I never participated in. I don’t really know what it’s about.” And then others of you may be like, “I never…I don’t even know what we’re talking about here.” Well basically on the Christian calendar and the Christian calendar certainly finds its way into every calendar, like for example, Christmas day, is a major holiday on the Christian calendar, representing the coming of the Savior, right? The purpose of our faith. And yet it’s a national holiday all around the world. And then there are other holidays or seasons that are just part of the Christian rhythm and Advent is one of them. The four Sundays leading up to Christmas are intended to allow us to have a season of contemplation, a season to consider what Advent means. Advent means arrival. So, these four weeks to consider the arrival of the Savior. And we do this in part by realizing that before Jesus came, before Jesus was born the people were longing, were waiting, were praying for a Savior, a Messiah to come. And we can easily put ourselves in that same state, in that same sense of longing by understanding that although He did come and His work is complete, we are waiting for His second Advent, His arrival. So, Advent gives us an opportunity to explore that longing inside that really doesn’t ever go away but we can’t quite put our finger…like we can’t quite name it. And, so, we’ll get more active…like we’ll get busier and busier and busier just to kind of mask that there’s something missing somewhere, and we can’t quite figure it out. That is our deep spiritual longing for all things to be made new and advent allows us to contemplate and live into that as we celebrate the fact that God came for us and He will always come for us, and in the end all things will be made right. So, this is the first Sunday in Advent. And, so, in lots of churches a candle will be lit today. It’s the week that we consider hope, hope in the Savior’s coming, hope in the joy that awaits His arrival. So that’s where we are in the year. In the Bible we’ll be moving back into the book of Daniel in the Old Testament and this letter that we began, first John yesterday. This week will read from the English Standard Version. Daniel chapter 8.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for bringing us here successfully to the…well…to the shiny threshold of a new week and the shiny threshold of this final month of the year. And it’s all out there in front of us. It’s a story that has yet to be told and we will write that story with our thoughts, words, and deeds. And, so, we invite Your Holy Spirit into all of them - all of our thoughts, all of our words, all of our deeds. May they reveal Your kingdom. May they be light in the darkness as John was just talking about. May our lives light up the darkness wherever we go in this season and may we celebrate with hope this week as we contemplate what You have brought in arriving here to rescue us, things that we could never earn, things that we do not deserve, things that have been given as a gift, which is why we celebrate the season the way that we do. Thank You for the gift of eternal life. Help us to live into it in this season that we celebrate. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In the mighty name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Margo from Australia you’re now in Liberia and when you pray, we hear you in our hearts they are near you. You’re hurting in this transition phase and we are hurting with you and yet we are joyful that God is with you during this time. We could never forget you. You’re a part of this family. Chin up, keep looking up to Jesus. We love you. By Margo.

Show Me God’s Love Ephesians chapter 3 verse 20 and 21. Holiday attitudes and tempers are not always in the warm tiding’s arena. We’re all under stress and most dread the inevitable bad interactions. I recommend to take a breath, think before you speak and consider if you should. Just like it says in the Bible, “be slow to speak, quick to hear, and slow to anger.” A lot of people are very sad this time of year as well because a lot of bad things may have happened in their life around the holidays. I’ve lost a lot of people that I care very much about in the last quarter of the year including my sister who was murdered brutally. So, please try and be…remember to be kind as often as you can. Hope everyone has a great holiday season including Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year. Show Me God’s Love.

Hey Daily Audio Bible family this is Andrea from Kentucky just wanted to call and say I hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving for those who celebrated Thanksgiving. Just wanted to say…I wanted to personally thank each and every one of you even the ones that never call in, but you listen in on a regular basis. I just want to say thank you for just being a part of this Daily Audio Bible community and you matter and even if you’re not speaking or…or anything, just showing up and being a part of this community and just listening to the word of God. I just want to say I’m proud of you and good job and I’m just so grateful that you’re growing in your faith with the Lord and you are just being…taking those steps whether baby steps or big steps to really grow yourself because you…as we are all growing closer to the Lord, as we are all coming back out of maybe paths that we don’t need to be in a lot of decisions that we don’t need to be in as we’re getting realigned, redirected in the word of God, we’re making a global impact and the kingdom of heaven is being advanced. And as you let the Holy Spirit love on you through the word of God and direct you and guide you and comfort you and just help us all, we are all being able to take off the weights that are easily entangling us and we’re able to be free, more free. And, so I just wanted to cheer you on and say that I’m so thankful that your my brothers and my sisters and if you’re not a born again yet I just want to invite you into the family of the most high Elohim, our amazing Creator and I just want to invite you into that personal relationship with Yeshua, He is the best thing, He is the most fulfilling relationship, the most fulfilling situation you can ever began. So, I just want to invite you in if you’re not in. But I just want to tell you I love you family. Have an amazing holiday season.

And thank you so much for calling in and sharing from your book, the Jewels of the Bible. You know, I was just reflecting on…we’ve been studying first Peter 4 where it talks about each of us should use our gifts to serve others and be a blessing, you know. And thank you for doing that. So, I just want to pray about this cancer and this prognosis that you have. And Lord right now in Jesus name I pray for Your mighty healing power to touch Diana Lord, that Your peace would be over her mind about her family and her kids and God You would deliver her from this cancer that’s in her body Lord, we rebuke it in the name of Jesus. And God I just speak life, life, life that she may have it and have it more abundantly God. So, bless her we ask in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Thank you for calling sister. Hi, it’s Sherry from Kansas. I wanted to share something with you that has been on my heart. When I was picking out the gravestone for my parent’s grave, I was sitting and talking with the woman who owned the business and an elderly man came in and he was so joyful that he almost glowed. It was like he had a light around him. And I commented on it after he left and she said, “you know, he is in a lot of pain all the time because of back problems that he had. And there had been other difficult circumstances in his life.” Well, I wanted to ask him, “how is it that you’re so joyful?” And he came back in again and I asked him, and he told me every morning when he wakes up the first thing he does is start thanking God, that he finds something that he can thank God for. And it sets the atmosphere for his whole day. Well, I was just taken by that. It’s so touched my heart. And I’ve been thinking and…that this is something that I need to do. And I have been seeking to do that. When I wake up in the morning the very first thing before I do anything is find something to thank God for. I hope this story speaks to you, blesses someone. And blessings. Have a wonderful holiday. And I’ll call back later. Thank you. Bye.

Daniel 8

Daniel's Vision of the Ram and the Goat

In the third year of the reign of (A)King Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, Daniel, (B)after that which appeared to me (C)at the first. And I saw in the vision; and when I saw, I was in (D)Susa the citadel, which is in the province of (E)Elam. And (F)I saw in the vision, (G)and I was at the (H)Ulai canal. I raised my eyes and saw, and behold, (I)a ram standing on the bank of the canal. It had two horns, and both horns were high, but one was higher than the other, and the higher one came up last. I saw (J)the ram charging westward and northward and southward. No (K)beast (L)could stand before him, (M)and there was no one who could rescue from his power. (N)He did as he pleased and (O)became great.

As I was considering, behold, a (P)male goat came from the west across the face of the whole earth, without touching the ground. And the goat had (Q)a conspicuous horn between his eyes. He came to (R)the ram with the two horns, which I had seen standing on the bank of the canal, (S)and he ran at him in his powerful wrath. I saw him come close to the ram, (T)and he was enraged against him and struck the ram and broke his two horns. (U)And the ram had no power to stand before him, but he (V)cast him down to the ground and trampled on him. And there was no one who could rescue the ram from his power. Then (W)the goat (X)became exceedingly great, but when he was strong, the great horn was broken, and instead of it there came up four (Y)conspicuous horns toward (Z)the four winds of heaven.

Out of one of them came (AA)a little horn, which grew exceedingly great toward (AB)the south, toward the east, and toward (AC)the glorious land. 10 (AD)It grew great, (AE)even to the host of heaven. And some of the host (AF)and some[a] of (AG)the stars it threw down to the ground and (AH)trampled on them. 11 (AI)It became great, even as great as (AJ)the Prince of the host. (AK)And the regular burnt offering was taken away from him, and the place of his sanctuary was overthrown. 12 And a host will be given over to it together with the regular burnt offering because of transgression,[b] and it will throw truth to the ground, and (AL)it will act and prosper. 13 Then I heard (AM)a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to the one who spoke, (AN)“For how long is the vision concerning the regular burnt offering, (AO)the transgression that makes desolate, and the giving over of the sanctuary and host to be trampled underfoot?” 14 And he said to me,[c] “For 2,300 (AP)evenings and mornings. Then the sanctuary shall be restored to its rightful state.”

The Interpretation of the Vision

15 When I, Daniel, had seen the vision, I (AQ)sought to understand it. And behold, there stood before me one having (AR)the appearance of a man. 16 (AS)And I heard a man's voice (AT)between the banks of the (AU)Ulai, and it called, (AV)“Gabriel, make this man understand the vision.” 17 So he came near where I stood. And when he came, (AW)I was frightened (AX)and fell on my face. But he said to me, “Understand, (AY)O son of man, that the vision is for (AZ)the time of the end.”

18 And when he had spoken to me, (BA)I fell into a deep sleep with my face to the ground. But (BB)he touched me and made me stand up. 19 He said, “Behold, I will make known to you what shall be at the latter end of (BC)the indignation, for it refers to (BD)the appointed time of the end. 20 As for (BE)the ram that you saw with the two horns, these are the kings of (BF)Media and Persia. 21 And (BG)the goat[d] is the king of Greece. And (BH)the great horn between his eyes is (BI)the first king. 22 (BJ)As for the horn that was broken, in place of which four others arose, four kingdoms shall arise from his[e] nation, (BK)but not with his power. 23 And at the latter end of their kingdom, when the transgressors have reached their limit, a king of bold face, one who understands riddles, shall arise. 24 His power shall be great—(BL)but not by his own power; and he shall cause fearful destruction (BM)and shall succeed in what he does, (BN)and destroy mighty men and the people who are the saints. 25 (BO)By his cunning he shall make deceit prosper under his hand, and in his own mind (BP)he shall become great. (BQ)Without warning he shall destroy many. And he (BR)shall even rise up against the Prince of princes, and he shall be broken—but (BS)by no human hand. 26 The vision of (BT)the evenings and the mornings that has been told (BU)is true, but (BV)seal up the vision, (BW)for it refers to many days from now.”

27 And (BX)I, Daniel, was overcome and lay sick for some days. Then I rose and went about the king's business, but I was appalled by the vision (BY)and did not understand it.

1 John 2:1-17

Christ Our Advocate

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, (A)we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. (B)He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but (C)also for the sins of the whole world. And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we (D)keep his commandments. Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments (E)is a liar, and (F)the truth is not in him, but whoever (G)keeps his word, in him truly (H)the love of God is perfected. (I)By this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he (J)abides in him (K)ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.

The New Commandment

Beloved, I am writing you (L)no new commandment, but (M)an old commandment (N)that you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that you have heard. At the same time, it is (O)a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in him and in you, because[a] (P)the darkness is passing away and (Q)the true light is already shining. Whoever says he is in the light and (R)hates his brother is still in darkness. 10 Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him[b] there is no (S)cause for stumbling. 11 But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and (T)walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

12 I am writing to you, little children,
because (U)your sins are forgiven for his name's sake.
13 I am writing to you, fathers,
because you know (V)him who is from the beginning.
I am writing to you, young men,
because (W)you have overcome the evil one.
I write to you, children,
because (X)you know the Father.
14 I write to you, fathers,
because you know (Y)him who is from the beginning.
I write to you, young men,
because (Z)you are strong,
and the word of God abides in you,
and you have overcome the evil one.

Do Not Love the World

15 (AA)Do not love the world or the things in the world. (AB)If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—(AC)the desires of the flesh and (AD)the desires of the eyes and pride of life[c]—is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And (AE)the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

Psalm 120

Deliver Me, O Lord

A Song of (A)Ascents.

120 In my distress I called to the Lord,
and he answered me.
Deliver me, O Lord,
from lying lips,
from a deceitful tongue.

What shall be given to you,
(B)and what more shall be done to you,
you deceitful tongue?
(C)A warrior's (D)sharp arrows,
with glowing (E)coals of the broom tree!

Woe to me, that I sojourn in (F)Meshech,
that I dwell among (G)the tents of (H)Kedar!
Too long have I had my dwelling
among those who hate peace.
(I)I am for peace,
but when I speak, they are for war!

Proverbs 28:25-26

25 A greedy man (A)stirs up strife,
but the one who trusts in the Lord will (B)be enriched.
26 Whoever (C)trusts in his own mind is a fool,
but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.
