2 Samuel 17:1-29, John 19:23-42, Psalms 119:129-152, Proverbs 16:12-13

Today is the 31st day of May. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian and it’s great to be here with you. Can you believe it’s five months almost completed in this year.? And we’ll be heading into the month of June and tomorrow. And we’ve plenty of drama going on in the Bible. We’re following the story of David and there is a significant conflict between David and Absalom, his son, who is attempting to take over his father’s throne. We’ll pick back up with that story. Second Samuel chapter 17. We’re reading from the Common English Bible this week.

Commentary:

Okay. So, we leave the month of May behind us. And we’re in the middle of a pretty dramatic story where Absalom the son of David is trying to overthrow the throne of his father. David is on the run across the Jordan River and it looks like a battle is brewing. And all this began with adultery and the promise from the prophet Nathan that there would be strife from within David’s family and there is. And we’ll continue with that story tomorrow as we move into the new month.

Then we’re nearing the end of the book of John. We’re nearing the end of the gospels and we’ll be moving into the story of what happened next, very soon, but today as we leave this month, Jesus has said the words ‘it is completed’, ‘it is finished’ and He has bowed His head in death. And, so, we leave this story with Jesus body being placed in a tomb until it can be properly cared for after the Passover. Of course, of course, we know that that will be necessary. And we will get to that. But as we end this month, as I’ve been saying for like a week, since we won’t be coming this way again, let’s offer each word and paragraph and page the gravity that it deserves. Jesus died on a cross. He was innocent. It was unjust and He did it willingly and where we are in the story now, His body is lying in a tomb. All to set us free.

Prayer:

Jesus, our hearts are turned to humility to repentance to gratitude and to the deep desire to be connected in relationship with You, walking through this world as Your hands and feet and representing You, allowing Your life to be what our life is all about. And, so, we thank You once again for a love that is beyond our comprehension, for an endurance to see that love through that is beyond anything that we know. We are grateful. As we’ve said on a number of occasions, our words certainly fall short. It is our lives that are telling the story of what You’ve done. Come, Holy Spirit. We pray. Lead us deeper into Jesus, we ask. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Good morning Daily Audio Bible family. This is Wrapped in His Unfailing Love. I am calling for Nonie. Nonie, your call just broke my heart and I know it is broken the heart of others. And God hears you. I want to read something to you from first Peter 5. So, humble yourself under the mighty power of God and at the right time He will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God for He cares about you. Stay alert and watch out for the great enemy the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are. In His kindness God called you to share in His eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So, after you have suffered a little while He will restore, support, and strengthen you and He will place you on firm foundation. All power to him forever. Amen. Nonie, we are standing with you and whatever you’re going for, you have a…going through, you have a family of believers who love you and are praying for you. And you are so courageous for calling in. Thank you for that. And know that you will be in my prayers, are in my prayers, and that we love you and most of all God loves you so very much. Thank you, Brian and Jill for this fabulous ministry. Thank you, family. Have a great day.

Hi this is Peace for Him. This is my first call in and I just couldn’t get away from this. I’m calling in for our precious Nonie who called on the 28th, a young girl at 15. I couldn’t hear all of your words but my heart was so moved as a grandmother. And I just wanted to give you Scriptures sweet Nonie to let you know that we are standing with you precious. I give you Ephesians 1:17 that God of the Lord Jesus Christ the Father of glory that gives us greater wisdom and revelation and knowledge of Him and that the eyes of your understanding be enlightened and you will know the hope of His calling and the riches of His glory and that __ the saints. I want you to know Nonie that God is with you, God is for you. You’re not alone. You said you’re struggling and your having a hard time trusting God at 15. I don’t know what you’re exactly going through but I want you to know that in first Corinthians 1:3, this is for you precious, that Jesus is our wisdom. He says we’re made unto His wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. You can call on Jesus and just cry out and say Jesus be my wisdom and He’s there for you darling. He will give you the answers and lead you in the way you should go. You’re not alone. And God is sending you laborers and he’s sending you kindred spirits of Christians to be friends with you and so you won’t be alone. And I speak, as we heard today, our teaching today that we speak shalom, peace over you and all your emotions and all your fears in the name of Jesus. I speak life to you and I speak encouragement to you. And I remind you and Jeremiah 29:11 that God’s plans for your good plans to do you good and to give you a prosperous end. So, we speak love over you today and remember you’re not alone and all the DAB family is praying for you. And praying for all the Nonie’s out there who feel like there alone and are struggling and by themselves. You are not forgotten. We love you and God loves you. And He has written your name in his book forever. In Jesus name.

Hi family. It’s Shannon from Texas and I’m calling for my cousin Kimberly. I’ve called for her before. She has cancer and we’re not sure what stage she’s in. She’s starting to feel like it has metastasized into stage for into her lymph nodes and I’m going to be taking care of her full-time. So, please pray for her and for me that I will do the very best in caring for her and that, you know, the Lord will just provide in the situation. She’s needing to pay her doctors. I’m not sure why she doesn’t have the insurance to provide but there’s something going where she’s gotta pay like a ton of money. I think her bill is like over $100,000 and the insurance is not covering and she’s going to the doctor tomorrow. I’m taking her. And she’s telling me that they’re not going to see her unless she pays a significant amount of money. And, I can’t do what I want to do to help and my family that has…gosh…they have the money and they could do it. And they’re not helping because she smoked cigarettes. And I just…I will never understand that attitude but that’s not my business. So, my business is the Lord’s business so please pray for me. I’m not in the greatest place right now. I need prayer myself, which is selfish, I know, but I’ve been meaning to call in for this because I’m just…I’m not in a great place and I’m not doing very well as far as having lost my job and not having a job and knowing what in the world I’m doing with my life other than just, this is obviously we’re I’m supposed to be to serve. So, most of all, pray for her. Pray for me that I serve her and the Lord well. Love you guys.
