Leviticus 19:1-20:21 ~ Mark 8:11-38 ~ Psalm 42:1-11 ~ Proverbs 10:17

Today is the 26th day of February.  Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible.  I’m Brian.  It is awesome to be here with you today as we step through the threshold and into this brand new week before us.  I love these beginnings of weeks because it is a fresh start.  No matter what happened last week, this isn’t last week anymore.  This is this week and we get to choose what this week is going to look like as we walk with God.  So we’ll go back out into the desert.  We’ll continue hearing the laws and customs and rituals being given to a people whose identity is being changed from slave to chosen, and this week we’ll read from the Names of God Bible, which is interesting because anytime the name of God is used, it is given in its original language.  So today we begin with Leviticus chapter 19, verse 1 through 20, verse 21.

Prayer

Father, we thank you for your word and we thank you for this brand new week. Father, we consecrate this week in advance.  We choose in advance to follow you, to walk with you, to be intimate with you, to be friends with you.  You’ve told us in the Proverbs today whoever practices discipline is on the way to life. That is what we want this week to look like because we don’t want to ignore it, ignore a warning and stray off. We know that story.  We know that story too well and we know where those side paths take us, down into the valley of the shadow, when you have invited us to walk along the peaks with you and see the vistas of this beautiful earth and this beautiful life that is ever unfolding before us as we collaborate with you in it.  So come, Holy Spirit.  We invite you fully and completely, without reservation.  We will walk with you and acknowledge you in every way.  Our lives will mimic the psalms.  Why are we discouraged?  Why are we so restless?  We will put our hope in you.  We will still praise you.  You are our Savior and God.  So come Holy Spirit, we pray.  In the name of Jesus we ask.  Amen.

Community Prayer Requests and Praise Reports

Good morning.  My name is Nancy from Rockford, IL.  I’ve been a Dabber for four years and this is probably the third time I’ve called in. I love listening to all your prayers every day and to Brian and Jill.  This podcast has been such a blessing to me in my daily walk with Jesus. The reason I’m calling today is because my husband has serious health issues and I haven’t called about it because we do trust that God has us in his hands, but I just wanted my Dabber family to know about it so that they could be praying for what God would have for Gary. My husband retired this past June, June of 2016 in good health and we were able to take a few trips and enjoy life and suddenly in October he found out that he had a big tumor in his left kidney. It was removed very quickly and taken out.  It was cancerous.  They got it all and he was on the mend.  A month later he drove his car into a creek, had a seizure.  They found out he had a brain tumor, so it was a God thing.  The brain tumor was removed.  It is cancerous.  He is going through 42 days of chemo and radiation and I just pray that God will be with him and I as we go through this journey together.  We don’t know what God would have for us, but I would love you to pray for him and for God to be with us and us to feel that.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.

Hello, this is Pamela from northern California.  This is where we make the Klean Kanteens and we do other things too.  We grow almonds and rice and we produce a lot to help feed the world.  Well, northern California has been in a drought and it has been many years.  I would have to say it looks like the drought is over. In fact, this last week the rain and it filling up of Oroville Dam, it got up to overflowing and 180,000 people were evacuated.  In that time of being displaced, neighbors reached out in neighboring cities and they opened their homes.  Churches opened up so that in that time of displacement, I feel like a lot of people felt God’s love for them.  My prayer is that the drought in all of us, that the things we’ve been praying for for so long, that there would be an overflowing and outpouring of God’s love and that he would nourish us all so that we could be the people he has called us to be and then produce good fruit that lasts, that will nourish the world.  Anyway, God bless you all.

Hi, this Max M. calling again.  My depression is off the charts.  I’m going off medication because of side effects that are adding to it, but it just seems like God is nowhere to be found.  The world just seems to be getting worse and worse.  It’s hard to pray.  It’s hard to read scripture.  And I just feel so alone.  I have my church and they help, but I feel like I want to do something but I don’t know what to do, especially with what is going on in our nation and in our world. So just please pray for me if you can. Thanks.  Bye.

Hey DAB family.  This is Byron out in Florida, Abiding in Him.  I’ve got some prayer requests for you guys for my wife and myself.  For my wife, she has been really having a hard time lately with the depression that she suffers from.  Lately we had some really good advancement and changes and things were looking bright and good, and they still are, but the last few weeks have been extremely difficult for her.  She has been talking about giving away the fish and there is a sadness that overwhelms her most of the time.  I just ask that you guys pray to help her through this rough patch.  She has actually started listening to the DAB on and off and she may be hearing this and if you are, baby, I love you very much and I just ask that you guys pray for her.  And for myself, in talking with my wife about things and observing things, I realized that I have a problem with impatience, that I’m not a very patient person, which is surprising to most people who know me because they see me as being fairly laid back, but I am I guess impatient for a lot of things, especially to see the movement of God in my life and in the life of others and it is holding me back severely. And I just ask that you guys pray for me in that regard, that I can learn that patience and receive that fruit of the spirit, because I know it’s not helping my wife and it’s not helping my children and it’s not helping me.  Things that God has me involved in is not helping my work.  So just please pray for us.  God is with us.  He is helping us walk through this stuff together, but we just need his guidance of his Holy Spirit and we just covet your guys’ prayers.  We thank you that we can talk to you guys, our family, about all this stuff.  Love you. Bye.

Hi Dabbers.  My name is Vanessa.  I live in Oregon.  I’ve been listening for years.  I’m a first-time caller.  I love you guys.  I’m just calling for a prayer for my mom.  Her health has been going downhill for the last three months.  She has been in and out of the hospital.  My sisters and my dad and I have been doing our best to take care of her and get her to her appointments and keep her strong.  My dad is not going to do too good without her, so I’ll take any prayers I can get, that her health might be restored and that my family can keep it together.  Thanks a lot.  I love you guys.  Bye.

Hi.  This is Diane from Pennsylvania and I call today not so much for a prayer request, but I just wanted to praise and adore and extol the Lord Jesus.  I praise you, Lord Jesus, for you are the word made flesh.  You are my rock and my refuge.  I praise you for being the potter and the pearl of great price, the fountain of living water, the rose of Sharon.  I praise you for being the lion of Judah and the suffering servant. I praise you, Jesus, for being the apple of my eye and my best friend.  I praise you, Jesus, for being the answer to every question and the solution to every problem.  I praise you, Jesus, for you are my foundation, my safe harbor.  I praise you, Jesus.  You are my healer, my provider.  You are lovely and gracious.  You are my cornerstone and you are our bridegroom.  You are the Prince of Peace, the fountain of living water, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.  I praise you, Jesus, for you’re the affection of my heart.  You are longsuffering.  You are wonderful.  You are the Lord of lords, the King of kings.  You are the alpha and the omega.  I praise you, Jesus, for you are my treasure.  You are my supply.  You are my blanket.  You are my covering.  I praise you, Jesus, for you are my mighty fortress and I praise you, Jesus, for you are my wall of fire.  I praise you, Jesus, for you are my vindicator and you are my divine physician. I just wanted to take time out to praise you.  You are the bread of life and my safeguard.  Thank you.  Thank you, Daily Audio Bible.  Bye.
