A Walk Through The Word

2 Samuel 15:23-16:23, John 18:25-19:22, Psalm 119:113-128, Proverbs 16:10-11

Today is the 30th day of May, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is fantastic to be here with you today as we gather around the Global Campfire where everything is peaceful and serene, and we all have a place and we’ve gathered to take the next step forward together. And so, that’s exactly what we will do. Our next step leads us back into the book of Second Samuel. We are learning of the reign of King David. We have learned some of the darker passages of David’s reign and life, and some of the decisions that he’s made that have undermined his leadership and really undermined so much in his own family. So much so, that where we left off yesterday is that David’s son Absalom, has going to Hebron and is essentially gathering an army to overthrow his father, King David. David has heard the news and has…has decided to go back on the run. It’s something that he knows, he had to run for his life from King Saul and now it’s as if he has to run from his life from his own son. And so, David is leaving Jerusalem, with the anticipation that Absalom is coming to try to take over Jerusalem. And so, let’s pick up the story, Second Samuel chapter 15 verse 23 through 16 verse 23.

Commentary:

Okay, so, clearly in Second Samuel, the…the que by Absalom to overthrow his father, King David, is underway, and Absalom is in Jerusalem. And he has advisors and David has some people planted to try to give him information. While some of David’s advisors and people have gone over to Absalom and become loyal to him. Some of the advice to get the rest of the people on board with the fact that Absalom and David would not be reconciling and that there is a new king in town and his name is Absalom. The idea was to go to the concubines of David erect a tent, have sex with the concubines in front of everybody and that would let everybody know that there is no turning back. There will not be reconciliation between the king and his son. And so that’s what Absalom does. That’s kind of where we are. And we’ll continue the story tomorrow.

And then…then today in the Gospel of John, we have reached the point, the point that we have reached for the final time on our journey this year through the Scriptures, and that is the final retelling in the Gospel of John of Jesus arrest and trial and crucifixion. And that's…that’s where we leave things. Jesus has been nailed to a cross and we heard the venom coming from the people that were incited against Him, yelling that He be crucified away with Him. He is not our King, away with Him. We have no king but Caesar, crucify Him. That hatred and rage aimed at God, the creator of life. And we can watch Jesus go to the cross willingly and we can say, He just took all that, He didn’t retaliate against it at all. Yes, that is what He did. He took it upon Himself and took it to the cross. But lest we think that He didn’t retaliate, we would be mistaken. He retaliated by offering forgiveness to those who were killing Him and everyone else, including you, including me. And so, what looked like utter defeat, was victory and that mystery is something that we get to talk about when we get into the letters of the Apostle Paul, out in front of us yet. But we’re here, in this moment and Jesus has been nailed to the cross and we will not go through this story again. And so, let us allow it to be in our hearts today, something that we consider. And when we are pressed to retaliate today, may we remember what we’ve read, may we remember what Jesus did, and may we consider retaliating through forgiveness, a counterintuitive way of restoration that can be miraculous.

Prayer:

So, Jesus, we thank You, we thank You. What else can we say, we say we thank You for the cross, thank You for the work that You did, we thank You for the example that you set, we thank You for the rescue of our soul, we thank You for eternal life, we thank You for hope, we thank You for today, we thank You for the next breath. We can thank You, as long as we can think. But it all boils back down to just, thank You because it’s so much and so good and so overwhelming, and so beyond anything we can ever repay, that our lives hum with Your presence and that Your Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth. It’s beyond comprehension, and so it really does boil down to thank You. May our lives give You honor, may we serve You well, may we make You proud today. We ask in Your name, by Your power, through Your authority, because without You, we can do nothing anyway. So, thank You, may we honor You today. We pray in Your name. Amen.

And in John 15 where it talks about abiding in the Lord. And Jesus calls us His friends and we, it talks about like, we shall be His friends by obeying Him. But I just wanna praise God and just say, what a friend we have in Jesus. He bares all of our sins, He wants to hear us, He wants us to turn our eyes upon Him. Because then the things of this world go strangely dim. But I also wanted to come on here because the prayer requests from today. Susan, the lady trusting in Jesus who is a brand new listener, who’s life is falling apart. Bridgett, Be Filled Bridgett, you guys, I am, I am coming off of a really hard night myself. Jackson, and I had to go to the hospital twice yesterday. And God is so good. But I just, I am praying for you all and I’m gonna pray, actually I’m gonna pray right now. I’m gonna say oh, dear Jesus, thank You so much for a new day. Thank You for sustaining us and I thank You for this community. I thank You that we are not alone and we can come together, that we’re never alone because You are our helper. And we know Lord, that Your promises are true and that we can stand upon them. Hello, this is Kendall Weaver speaking from Los Angeles, California. I’ve been listening to Daily Audio Bible for about a year. This is my very first time speaking into the prayer and community prayer. And I just wanted to have a special prayer that I passed my life insurance exam tomorrow, which will be May 27th. And I also wanted to pray for, you know, just dealing with my autism that I have. I’ve heard of different people talking about mental illness and schizophrenia, stuff like that. Something that you definitely have to deal with on a daily basis. I just wanted to pray that I overcome my insecurities and that I become the man that God has called me to be. And that I also find a, you know, a Godly woman, one of these days, that she understands that I’m able to lead the family and lead her as well, as the Bible says to do. As it says, you know, love your wife as Christ loved the church. And all those things. So, just wanted to, you know, have my prayer request and hopefully it gets answered and hopefully things happen. Thank you.

Hey fam, it’s Spark from Texas. I’m a actually up here in New York, New York, as ya’ll would say. But we’re messing around, bear tracking and but anyway, how goes it? We’re listening to Daily right now and I just really wanted to put this out there. Like, I remember the first year I went through this and DAB. I listened to David and he was…he was somebody that just, I strove to be like. To have that energy, that passion, that…that good heart. And that’s, I loved it. I couldn’t get enough of it. And I’m sitting up here, my buddies are in there napping. And I got my headphones in out here and I got a day or two behind and I was like, nah, dudes I gotta step out and kind of do my thing, you know. And out here listening to the Bible, and I’m like, man, how much has my life changed in these years. No longer do I sit there and look at David as somebody that was terribly troubled but here I am. Here I am, doing well. And we don’t ever think we’re doing well but where we’re you at before you found God like David found God, and just fell in love with Him and said I can’t do anything without You. That’s how I feel, right now. But God. I love you.

Hello, DAB Family. This is Mark, the baby doctor from Dayton, Ohio. I wanted to call in and pray for few requests that really are weighing heavy on my heart. Susan from Canada, you said your son has had a very difficult cancer journey and a surgery has left him without some ribs and now a cough has causing him some extreme pain and I wanna pray for him, Lord Jesus. I wanna pray that this cough would be healed, in the name of Jesus right now. I give you Jeremiah 30:17 for I will restore health to you and your wounds, I will heal, declare the Lord. And I pray healing on those wounds and total restoration for him. Trusting in Jesus, oh my. I heard about your mom in Hospice and your sister with ovarian cancer. And now, what you are facing and yes, we are praying for both of those situations, for healing, for God’s presence. And for you, Trusting in Jesus, I give you Isaiah 46:4 I am he who will sustain you, I have made you and I will carry you. I will sustain you and I will rescue you. Trust in the Lord that He will be there as we continue to lift you up. And finally, I didn’t catch the name, but I believe a mother called in with a 8-year-old who might be battling some mental illness. And in the name of Jesus, I…I pray for that little girl, that her mind would be restored. And I give you Psalm 30, oh Lord my God, I cried out to You for help and You healed me. So, just cry out to the Lord with her for help and He will heal. In Jesus name. Thank you, all.

DAB Family, last November, I asked you for prayers for my wife, who was hospitalized with an aggressive abdominal infection. After two emergency surgeries and 72 days in the hospital, she was sent home with both an ileostomy and colostomy to recover. My praise today is that earlier this week, my wife underwent a planned surgery, to take down the ileostomy. I praise God for answered prayers. During this same period, my granddaughter was brought into this world at just under 24 weeks and weighing only 15 oz as a result of an emergency c section to save my daughters-in-law life. Little Win has thrived as a super preemie, until about a month ago. As her body has grown, her lungs have not been able to keep up. After a month of decline, little Win had to be intubated to give her lungs a chance to keep up and to better manage her blood gas levels. We have a, we’ve had thousands of prayer warriors praying for Little Win and I ask my DAB Family, to join me in praying for little Win today. Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that the Holy Spirit would breathe life into Win’s delicate lungs so that they may thrive as the rest of her body has. Heavenly Father, be with both Win and her parents, through this very difficult time. Lord, it’s in Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

2 Samuel 12:1-31, John 16:1-33, Psalms 119:65-80, Proverbs 16:4-5

Today is the 29^th day of May welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian and it is wonderful to be here with you today as we gather yet again around the Global Campfire and move forward together on our journey through the Scriptures this year. And our journey will lead us back into the book of second Samuel, where we have been camping out in moving our way through as we learn of the reign of king David. David has made mostly right moves, moves from a good heart and good character but he’s also made a really bad maneuver in taking another man’s wife, Bathsheba and having her husband killed to cover it up, which creates a lot of unrest in David’s family. And, so, David’s daughter has been raped by her brother Amnon and Amnon has subsequently been killed by his brother Absalom and Absalom has been sent away from Jerusalem back to his grandparents. And, so, let’s pick up the story. Second Samuel chapter 14 verse 1 through 15 verse 22 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, the erosion in…in the Kings family, king David’s family is on full display. We watched David running for his life from King Saul. We watched him holding on to God for his next breath. We watched his integrity grow. We watched the people’s hearts turn toward him because they were seeing his character shine through as a leader, that he truly loved the people, that he truly loved God. And God blessed and a national identity was established under David’s rule, a palace for the king, a capital city and then David saw a beautiful woman that he wanted that belonged to someone else and the aftermath was pregnancy and loss of a baby, the murder of Bathsheba’s husband, Uriah, and then repercussions in his own family, the rape of his daughter Tamar by her brother Amnon. And then another brother Absalom taking out his revenge on Amnon by killing him for raping his sister. And then Absalom was exiled away from Jerusalem to Gesher to his grandparents and kept away from the king. And then finally…finally, Absalom comes back but he can’t see the king and he goes about the business of stealing the hearts of…of the Israelites away from the king. And, so, now what we have is Absalom has gone to Hebron and is declaring himself king and a revolt, coup is underway. David has gotten word about this. All of his instincts kick in. He knows what it’s like to be on the run and fighting to stay alive. So, he sees the writing on the wall. And, so, he has to leave the palace, gather some kind of bodyguard and…and get like some little semblance of government together and get out of there. Otherwise, Absalom will come with his troops and there will be civil war going on in the…the holy city of Jerusalem, the capital city. And, so, David is…is back on the run again. He was given rest. He was given blessing. He was made the King and now he’s back on the run again. And we can look at this and we have to appreciate the impact that has happened in the reign of king David because of the choices that he made. We watched a tremendous offense grow between Absalom and David over the course of years and it's…it’s led to war. If we want to step back and allow the Scriptures to read us and…and try to apply this to our lives, then we have to look at the offenses that we’ve allowed to fester over long periods of time. We have to look at the things that have become poison in our relationships because we already know where the road goes. Like the bonds that bound us in relationship become frayed and broken and can turn to the opposite of relationship which is…which is non-relationship, which is war with each other, animosity toward one another. We’re seeing this happen to King David and his kingdom, but it is the same for us. And everybody does make mistakes. There is no perfect one outside of our Savior and we have an example of that. But when we fall short, we are human beings, we fall short a lot more we even…than we even acknowledge. We give ourselves a lot of grace but we make a lot of mistakes and some of them are small and some of them are big but there is a repercussion for the choices that we make and some of those can be devastating. But even when things are absolutely blown apart and broken we still are making decisions each and every day to move through the day. And, so, we either reinforce the battle lines, we bring more ammunition to create more evil, or we find a way to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God and repent, which doesn’t mean everything gets fixed all of a sudden, but humility and hope for grace and a heart of repentance, these can be miracles in relationships. So, let’s look at what’s happening to David and look into our own lives for…for parallels. And probably we don’t have the same kind of parallels. The kind of stuff that David’s gotten himself into are pretty big things, but the principles remain. We’ll continue this story as we continue to move forward through the Scriptures and we will see that the animosity that has risen between Absalom and his father David. Absalom’s total disdain and disrespect and near hatred for his father is going to cause a lot of pain. May we learn from this example.

Prayer:

Father, we invite You into that. And as we were just saying, most of us don’t have stories like king David, but we all have stories and they’re human stories and most of our stories involve interaction and relationship with other people in some sort of way and we have done well and we’ve done poorly in the choices that we’ve made about the relationships that we’ve had. And, so, we first humble ourselves before You and ask Your Holy Spirit to show us the way that we should go and how to be a part of Your story of redemption rather than just continuing to drop battle lines for bloodshed and more devastation in our hearts and in our lives and in the lives of those around us. Come Holy Spirit show us the way to go in the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

2 Samuel 13:1-39, John 17:1-26, Psalm 119:81-96, Proverbs 16:6-7

Today is the 28th day of May, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian, it is wonderful to be here with you as we do what we do and greet a brand-new, shiny, sparkly week and remind ourselves it’s out in front of us. We’re gonna write the story of our lives on this week and we’re gonna do that with our thoughts, words and deeds. We’re going to do that by what we do and what we leave undone. And one of the ways that we get direction in our lives is to come here, gather together and allow the Scriptures to speak into our lives. And so, let’s do that. It’s a brand new week, we’ll read from the New Living Translation this week. We’re picking up the story of King David and we’ve moved through a pretty dark, the most dark portion of David’s reign, when he, when he takes another man’s wife, her name is Bathsheba, and…and has, has Uriah, her husband, Uriah the Hittite, has him killed in battle on purpose. Basically uses the enemy to commit murder and takes her. And Nathan, the prophet, comes and tells him the story about a rich man who stole a poor man’s little lamb, the little lamb was like a pet, was like a daughter in the family. And the rich man stole the poor man’s lamb and served it up as a meal. Of course, David was furious when he heard the news until he found out he was that man. And so, now David’s got to go through the process. And Nathan told David that this is going to bring a lot of trouble in his family and that is what we will witness, that things aren’t the same in David’s family after this. This is something that wouldn’t have been able to be a complete cover-up, Uriah’s killed, the next thing you know Bathsheba is David’s wife. People are talking, the family is talking. It’s like respect has been lost. So, let’s pick up the story, Second Samuel chapter 13.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for a brand-new week that we move into, its transitional week before the week is over, we will graduate. We will step forward into a brand-new month and before this week is out, we will conclude the Gospel of John, which means we will conclude the Gospels and move forward into new territory in the New Testament. So, we are looking forward to all that You have for us as we move through this week and we invite Your Holy Spirit, the spirit of truth, the comforter, the advocate, to lead us on the paths that leads to peace, to lead us on the paths that are right for us, to lead us into all truth. We pray in Jesus name. Amen.

Hey, this is Daniel Johnson Junior from beautiful Cincinnati Ohio, longtime listener, sometimes commenter. And right now, I’m actually wanting to offer a prayer request for dear sister Carol Baker. Carol, I knew, I first met her back when she lived in Dayton Ohio and she is the person who recommended, back in 2009 that I start listening to the Daily Audio Bible again. Carol has been in the hospital for the last couple of days with just going through something that is very uncomfortable and there’s, just praying for the A+ medical team to be around her as I’m sending this out, it’s the 25th of May 2013. And so, God we just lift up our dear sister Carol to You and pray that everything goes well. Recovery turns out really well. I know that that sometimes these things happen, they’re so disruptive in our lives. And You know what you’re doing and You know what You want to have for Carol. We love her so much and I know that she loves You too. So thank you so much brothers and sisters. And thank You so much God for all the work that You’re doing. It’s in Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Hi, amazing family, this is Preserved Hope. The Disciple that Jesus Loves in Ohio, you called in. You said your depression is better and praise God you have been able to spend time with your youngest children. I know it had been awhile. So, praise God for that. We are lifting you up. Heavenly Father, that she would be able to get a good job, Lord. She has a good one lined up but she’s nervous about the background check. Lord, would You just provide for her in every way. Please just pour out an abundant amount of blessings on her financially that she would be able to meet her needs. Abba’s Daughter Sadie, I’m praying for your sister, Sydney, who severely injured her tailbone. Heavenly Father, would You just bring healing to her. Would You please protect her in the future as Sadie said that she has had issues before with injuries. Lord, just be a blessing to this family. A woman called in, your son has just admitted himself into a mental institution, Lord. He’s dealing with so much. And she’s been able to minister to him by sharing the Bible with him for over a year. Would You please just penetrate his heart. Lord, would he come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Would You please deliver him from mental illness, that has been plaguing him. Martha from the west coast, you need work. And I loved how you called in with such peace about it. And I praise God that you know that the Lord is faithful, he has always been faithful to you. But Lord, would You help her to find work, so that she can continue to meet whatever financial obligations that she has. And thank You for her hearth. Heather from California, I am lifting up you and Jackson and Ashley, Lord. Would You please hold this family in the palm of Your hand. Would You please just bless them. Please bring healing to Jackson. Please lift up their spirits Lord, and encourage them. And Jackson, I wanted to tell you that I did not grow up watching SpongeBob Squarepants because it wasn’t a show when I was a little kid. But my kids watched it a little bit. It’s a cute show. And I just pray to God that at this moment you would know how much you are appreciated and cared and loved. Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ, we thank You for Jamie. We thank You that You have brought him thus this far. We pray thee Lord, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging that he has cast his cares before You, Lord, and he should know that You care for him, Lord, and we as well. We pray thee Father, that You would comfort his heart. Comfort him Father, in know that he is loved and that one day Father, according to Your perfect will and perfect timing, all will be fulfilled in his life. As long as he hold on, carry on and be strong in You and faint not. In the name of Jesus, we thank You Father, that all things work together for the good of those who love You. And that You fill his heart with joy, peace, comfort, and the fruits of the spirit. Whatsoever’s lovely, whatsoever’s a good report, and not to be dismayed in any way but to know that all things work together for the good for those that love You. Be encouraged Jamie. My name is Jill. I’m a new listener. I live on Drawman Island in the upper peninsula of Michigan. I’m calling today because I’ve been listening since January and most of the time, I’m a prayer warrior but through Audio Bible, I’ve become a prayer warrior who cries a lot. I listen and listen and cry at all the sadness. And so, my message to call right now is that the Lord brought into my life recently, I live alone, and He brought into my life a woman who prothlysized a bit, she prayed on the way up here. And when she came she said, gave me a message, several messages from God. But one of them was about pain and about hip and leg pain that I have. And I want to tell you all that I got up this morning, never thought about a bad knee that I have that I usually put a brace on pretty soon after I get up. I cleaned my house, I did everything I wanted to do. I started walking my dog and I quarter mile from my house and realized, I don’t have my brace on and my knee isn’t hurting. Praise God. God works and He’s listening and don’t be saddened by all the…all the calls you’re hearing or you’re not hearing people call back because people are afraid to call back. God loves us. I praise God and I thank You so much, Lord God, for all You do in our lives. Thank You, God. Bye.  

2 Samuel 9:1-11:27, John 15:1-27, Psalm 119:49-64, Proverbs 16:1-3

Today is the 26th day of May, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian; it is great to be here with you today, here in the beautiful, lovely, rolling hills of Tennessee. As things warm up and become beautiful and lush everywhere, and I trust that it is beautiful and lovely wherever you may be. Here at the Global Campfire its always kind of the same, we always have a place, the fires always crackling. We can find our place, find this oasis of serenity, and simply let go of the cares of this life for a minute. We can go back and collect whatever we want, but for a minute, we have this oasis to allow God’s word to speak into our lives. So, let’s dive, in the Old Testament, we are witnessing David’s reign now, we’ve moved through quite a bit of David’s life and how he became the king and he is the king. And he is very, very much establishing himself in the regions all around him, so we will continue with that story today, second Samuel chapters 9, 10, and 11.

Commentary:

Okay, so in Second Samuel today, as we move through the life and times of King David, we have quite a contrast. Like we see David at his best, and then we see David at his absolute worst. We see David at his best when he seeks to find one of Saul’s errors and he finds that Jonathan, his deeply close friend, has a son named Mephibosheth. So, he restores Mephiboshet’s fortunes, gives him back the land that Saul had brings them to the king’s table allows him to eat there, and so this is a beautiful, a beautiful thing. And then, we have this situation were David gets up from a nap and he’s walking around his palace. And like, if you go to Jerusalem, it’s like a very, very hilly region with valleys. Like the Kedron Valley or the Hidom Valley. Like with valleys in between these hills. And so, things are built up on the hills and so David’s palace, high on a hill would’ve been over looking down upon the rest of the population. So, David is walking around on it, on his Terrace and he’s looking out over the city and that’s when he spots Bathsheba. And she’s finishing up a bath and he sees her, and he desires her and he keeps thinking about her and inquires about her find out finds out about her and has her brought to him and they have a night together. And Bathsheba, like we don’t know in the story, whether she was like trying to be seen by the king, but it doesn’t seem that way. And the king summoning her, she’s in a situation where she can’t like, she’s the powerless one in this situation. Nevertheless, they come together and she becomes pregnant and that is a really big situation because she’s married. And she’s not just married to anybody, she’s married to Uriah the Hittite, one of David’s elite soldiers. Uriah the Hittite will be listed, like later on as we get further on into the story, we will find out about these warriors and what their names were, that were the elite warriors for King David. Uriah was one of those. He’s named as one of the elites. So he is fiercely loyal to his king, to his God, to his nation, and he demonstrates that when David summons him to try to cover up, to try to get him to go home to be with Bathsheba, so that, that what happened is covered up and that the baby, like the whole thing is covered up. Uriah has too much honor and it’s just exposing how far David has fallen. We have watched him have this kind of honor. And now Uriah is simply following in his king’s footsteps and being an honorable person and David is, has fallen so far that the contrast is very stark. But it just gets worse because Uriah won’t go home to Bathsheba. So Uriah gets sent back into the battle and he gets sent back into the battle with the intention that he is killed and he is killed. And that’s where we leave the story, it’s just like, this pause, a pregnant pause in the story and we will continue with the aftermath of that because what happened today changes the dynamics of David’s family for the rest of his life. It changes things. And we will get to that in the days ahead.

And in the Gospel of John, we are really moving ourselves toward the end of the final Gospel. And so, Jesus is speaking to His friends before He gets arrested. And we’ve been spending the last few days, kind of going through that discourse. The things, the beautiful, comforting promises, the things that He’s telling them are the things that they need to go forward and we still need all of those things. And so, we have been talking about that. And it says some things today that we need to remember. He tells us that we must remain in Him and He will remain in us. And He equates to like a vine and a branch, that we are branches and are connected to Him, the vine, our sustenance. What we need are the resources that we need to sustain life are provided from the vine. We are the branch. If we are separated from the branch we will die, must remain in Him and He in us, because apart from Him, we can do nothing. And then He goes on to tell them, the way that you do that, like the way that you remain connected, the way that we stay connected together is that when you obey me, when obey my commands you remain in my love, just like I’ve modeled for you, just like I obey the Father’s commands and remain in His love. And then as I read it, it’s almost like there’s a pause, like Jesus takes a deep breath because He’s kind of getting to the end of what He has to say and it’s getting to be go time, like they’re gonna have to get up from the table and leave. And they’re gonna go across the Kindred Valley and Jesus is gonna pray in Gethsemane, but He’s never coming back again. This is the last moment. So he takes is this deep breath, and then says, I don’t call you slaves, a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. I call you my friends because I’ve told you everything. Everything the Father told me, I told you, you are my friends. That is a statement from the lips of God to these men and that should humble us because there’s a big difference between a slave and a friend. And when we remain in Him and He in us, and we remain in Him and in His love by obeying Him, then He too calls us friends, friends, of friend of God. We probably have a friend, we know what the concept of friendship is. We know like a deep and abiding long-term friendship. Friends…friends stick together through difficult times. They walked together, they comfort each other. They keep each other going. Friends…friends have each other’s backs. We could go on and on and on about what…what friendship is like, but could we just acknowledge that the offer of friendship with God is given to us and I know we know this. We sing songs about this in church. I am the friend of God. He calls me friend really like. We know this. We know that He’s offered friendship to us, but we also know what friendship looks like. Are we the friend of God? It’s offered to us and it’s mind blowing, but He’s been faithful to us in a long term very patient way, have we been a friend to God because that’s what he died for, to bring us into relationship and intimacy with himself that we might be friends.

Prayer:

So, Jesus, once again, as we…as we look at these last moments in the Gospel of John, as we move through this loving, caring, teaching that You are giving to Your disciples and then to us through the Gospel of John. That You want to be in a relationship with us is beyond comprehension and we confess that we have taken it for granted as if it’s just something that we can take or leave, unless we’re in trouble and then we need You. You have invited us to be friends and in truth, this is the union our souls crave. It’s the thing that drives everything in our lives and we drive ourselves in all kinds of misplaced ways to fill what You are simply offering: relationship, union, friendship with you. May we honor them by obeying You. And we ask for your help. Come, Holy Spirit, we pray in Jesus name. Amen.

Good morning, everyone, it’s Susan from Canada, God’s Yellow Flower calling. As a lot of you know, I’m looking after my son with stage four cancer and in 2018 he had major surgery, removed his left shoulder, arm and six of his ribs. And right now, he has a cough and when he coughs, his whole chest kind of blows out his left side where there’s no ribs and it’s very painful. So, I am asking for prayer for healing from this cough and from, of course, the cancer. Let’s pray. Lord God, we just ask You Jesus, to be with Keith and all others who are suffering from cancer or other diseases that are so difficult to handle. We know we hear about cancer everyday on this prayer line and Heavenly Father, we just ask Your healing touch to be on each and every one. I pray Lord God, that You would give us strength and courage to face each new day, each new challenge until our healing comes. Lord God, walk with us through this deep, dark valley and help us to cope with all the challenges that come our way. We praise You Lord, we love You Lord, in all circumstances and every single thing in our life, thy will be done. In Jesus name I pray.

Hi, I’m calling in because I heard, she called in as an anonymous caller but she called in for her little girl who is experiencing what they think might be symptoms of schizophrenia at a very young age. And when I heard that I…I just felt for you so much and I got on my knees and I prayed with you because I just want to rebuke that spirit of mental illness right now. I myself have grown up, I grew up in a household with a family member who struggled with schizophrenia. And my dad, who I did not grow up with, I…I learned at the age of 18, when I went to go look for him, that he also struggles with something very similar. And so, I feel your pain and I just want to pray over this little girl. And Lord, Heavenly Father, we come to You right now. We just, we rebuke that spirit of mental illness God, we rebuke the enemy. God, he has no power in this little girl’s life. He has no power whatsoever God, You are the almighty God and we just thank You so much that You are going to take care of her and you’re going to, you’re going to heal her, God. And You’re going to be with her for the rest of her life. Father, this is not her story. We rebuke this in the name of Jesus and we just pray for Your covering, we pray for peace. You’ve not given us a spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind. We pray for a sound mind for this little girl. She grows up to be a beautiful young woman, with a family, with full life. Mental illness is not her story. Thank You Father for Your grace, Your love, Your mercy. Thank You for being so kind to us, a good Father, a loving Father. We pray right now for this little girl, God. Be with her every, every step of the way. Thank you, Jesus so much. In the name of Jesus.

This is Telay, calling from Texas. And I’m calling regarding the lady that called and mentioned that her daughter, who’s 8 years old, may be suffering from schizophrenia. And I just want to just take a moment to say a prayer for your daughter. My spirit has led me to call in, say this prayer. I pray Heavenly Father, God in Heaven that You touch Your child, You touch Your daughter. That any mental illness that may be coming upon her, Lord, from the pits of hell, shall be destroyed in the name of Jesus. I pronounce healing upon her life. I pronounce healing upon her mind, Lord. I cover her with the blood of Jesus. I pray, Lord, that the joy of her salvation, the joy within her shall be returned, in the name Jesus. I pray, Lord, that we should hear a testimony, oh Lord, a new thing shall come to her, oh Lord, and these things shall be things of the past. We thank you, Heavenly Father. You said, each of us should ask our Father for bread and shall get stone of which of us shall ask our Father for fish and would get a snake. Lord, God Almighty, You love us, Lord, and we ask of You, oh Lord, and we know that You will answer us. Lord, but You said whatever we ask in Your name, Lord, You shall give unto us, Lord. So, please, Father, relieve this girl of any sort of mental illness, oh Lord, and let her return back to her normal state of mind. Let her return back to her joy and let her come back to her happiness and be the light that she is to the family and the world, that they may glorify Your Holy name. In Jesus name. Amen.

Hi, this is Trusting in Jesus. I’ve listened to Daily Audio Bible for over a year now and just absolutely loved it. Little did I know that my life would fall apart. Last week my mom had treatment for cancer, went into Hospice unexpectedly. And then two days later my sister, who is five children, went into the hospital emergency room for, they thought was a problem with her colon and they opened her up and she had stage 4 ovarian cancer. So, I am praying for two miracles. I’m not gonna give up on either one of them. And I ask, I plead for your help, and your prayers. And I am going to be taken on their responsibility of caring for her children along with my children. And I suffer from illnesses as well. So, I’m praying for God’s strength. But that is, that doesn’t have anything to do with anything. My primary focus is the two miracles. So, I am desperately praying for two miracles for my mother and my sister. So, DAB Family, I need you now. And you never know when your life is gonna fall apart. So, I know it’s cliché but really, appreciate your family members every moment. So, thank you so much. And God bless all of you and your precious ones. Thank you.

Good morning, guys. This is Be Filled Bridget from New York City. Today’s Monday, May 22nd. And I’m tapping in today to ask you guys for prayers. On Thursday, Michael is going to be sentenced. And we’re going to be allowed to speak or say something. First, I would like you to pray for my daughter who said to me, that she’s struggling telling him that she forgives him. I did tell her that she doesn’t have to say anything that she can just ask God to help her forgive. But at this point, if she’s not ready, she doesn’t have to say it. I don’t want her to force herself to do something that she’s not ready to do yet. I am praying for her. For myself, I’m asking you guys to please pray for me because I’m going to present the gospel to the court. I believe the Holy Spirit has already given me the message. I recorded it for myself and I’m gonna practice it, pray about it, fast and present it on Thursday. So, please, pray for my family. Pray for my daughter, my husband, just for all us and I’ll keep you guys updated. I love you guys. I thank you for all your prayers. I appreciate you all. Psalm 111-118

Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible Chronological, I’m China. Today is the 28th day of May. Welcome. So good to be here with you today. As we enter into this last week of May, this last few days of May, I think it’s always just so good to sit and reflect and even try to remember what the beginning of this month looked like. I know I would have to really sit and think about it just because it was 28 days ago, but I think reflecting is so good and it’s so important we see that happen so often in the Bible, just remembering who the Lord is and where he’s brought us from. And so I think that there is great value in doing so. Today we are in the book of Psalm, we are in chapters 111 and we’ll be going through until 118.. And this week we are going to be in the New Living translation. 

Commentary:

So today’s reading is a lot of praise. This is so good. I feel like in so the Holy Spirit, just with what you laid on my heart and trying to reflect on just this full month and just giving thanks and praise to the Lord. And while, yes, these are somebody else’s words, these are somebody else’s heart prayers, these can also be ours. Like we can make these our own and we can say them or sing them and really mean them. And I think it’s also so powerful when we give thanks to the Lord out of our own hearts and out of our own mouths and we do make it personal to whatever is going on in our lives or going on around us. And I just think that, one, the Lord is worthy of that and I believe that he loves to hear his people praise Him. And two, I also believe that it shifts so much in us when we remind our spirits who the Lord is so we could be really stressed about something with work or really fearful about some other situation or really feeling anxious. And those feelings can, they are super valid. And I also think that there’s a deeper invitation from the Lord to not set up camp there that he wants to be invited into it. And so we can go to the Lord and we can ask Him, lord, would you help me, would you give me your eyes to see this? Would you whatever it is that we feel led to pray but then also remind ourselves who he is in prayer? 

Prayer:

Lord, I thank you that you are a God who comes through for his people. I thank you that you are even hearing my prayers right now. I’m believing that that’s true and just going through that, it shifts so much and we remember, oh yeah, he is a good and loving father. Man, I don’t know why I wasn’t believing that. I was believing that he wasn’t or man, I don’t know why I was having a hard time with this, but I think I just forgot, and I think so many of us and so I think today’s reading is such a great reminder, such a great practice to be in routine of of giving the Lord thanks and praise because it seriously does it shifts so much. And if you don’t believe me and you think that’s wild, then I encourage you to try it and to be in constant practice of it daily, maybe a few times a day, and just see what it shifts. And so Lord, I thank you for today, I thank you that your spirit is really moving in the direction of gratitude and reflecting and giving you thanks and praise. I thank you that you’re worthy of that. I thank you that it’s not something that we have to sit here and muster up or really think hard but it’s easy. We can look around and see the hand of God in so many different areas of our lives or in others lives. And so I pray that we would be a people who reflect often that we would be in a habit of practicing, giving you thanks, giving you praise, naming the things that we are grateful for and that this would be a continue, a continual thing that we do throughout all generations. Something that we would teach our kids, something that we would encourage others to do. And Lord, I just thank you that one again you’re worthy of it and also that it’s easy to do and it shifts so much in our hearts and in our homes, in our workplaces, in our schools. God, I just thank you that your presence quite literally changes everything. I thank you for that. It’s in your name we pray. Amen.

Good morning, DABC. This is Anonymous calling. I’m reaching out today, 33 weeks pregnant and really struggling with my current relationship with my own mother after having dealt with or actively am dealing with healing from some narcissistic abuse and generally what would be considered emotionally immature parenting. Some boundaries so that we could try and keep the relationship and find reconciliation. But as my due date is getting closer I am just finding over and over and over again that boundaries are being intentionally crossed and pushed and generally disrespected and that I’m still being attempt or at least attempted to be manipulated. The only difference is that now I see it, whereas I didn’t before all of this, to say I just need help. And I need prayer from our prayer warriors. For myself, for grace and patience and for wisdom in next steps. But also for my mother, for her own healing and for maybe a change of heart so that the blatant and intentional manipulation and disrespect can come to an end and that true reconciliation can happen. I’m running out of time so thank you and take care.

Hello, Daily Audio Bible, prayer warriors and DABC people community in particular. This is Elizabeth from Delaware calling in. I often call in, or not often, but I usually use the Dab Channel and I often call in for my dear friends who are incarcerated and ask them for prayers and lift their prayer news up. But I have really been enjoying and being blessed so much by listening to DABC for the last three months that I feel like I want to be your family. I want you to pray for my family. You were just Jill and China are just such a joy and inspiration and thought provoking and just blows my mind the things that God teaches me through what you’re saying to us. I just want to thank you both ladies for what you’re doing and giving to us and ask all of the prayer warriors there if they would lift up. My husband Dan, he’s had major surgery on his knee and it’s not healing and he’s just in a lot of pain. It’s been three months and just lift them up for wisdom for the doctor and that we might have a permanent solution that we remove the pain.And for my husband’s spirit, he’s doing really great, but this was totally unexpected and so just if you would lift him up, his name is Dan, I would greatly appreciate it. I know our Lord and Savior is our great provider, but he does ask us to lift each other up and trust in his power and his grace. So I ask that you would do that for us. In Jesus name we pray. Hey, DABC fam. It’s Carrie AKA Jesus Girl. You’re actually going to hear two recordings from me because I’m not going to be able to get it all in in once. First of all, let me testify I praise God for this community. I thank you all that we hold each other up in prayer and regardless of whether we call in about certain situations or not, we are all praying for each other. I had been praying and asking the Lord about some financial situations and I was foolish and boxed him in to how he’s done things in the past. He’s come through every time in the past and I thought I’d see the same way. I walked into work a little over a week ago now and said hi to my boss and going about my business and half an hour later, HR and my CEO called me in the office and told me my boss had been fired and offered me his position and I told him I’d need to pray about it. I did, but I happily with clearance from the Lord accepted the position. And here where I thought God was going to help me out with a few hundred dollars.

He just dropped a massive yearly raise into my lap. So I praise Him I thank you guys for holding all of us up together. It’s so wonderful to know we’ve got that going on with each other. I have a quick prayer request and then I’m going to have to call in and give my other recording. I called a year ago. My friend Selena’s husband had pancreatic cancer and he ended up passing this morning. Please hold Selena, her ten year old daughters Annabelle and their son little Tommy up and in prayer. Please. But the praise factor is Tommy got saved before he passed. Hallelujah.

Hi, my name is Heather, I’m calling from Australia. I would just love to get the prayer support of this fabulous community. Last week I collected my son from the train station after he’d been away for a camp for five days. And he opened up with me about some really tough stuff that he’s going through and some things that are worrying him and concerns about self harm. And this is the first time I’ve had to experience this with one of my children. And we’ve just now been to see the doctor, so we’re beginning to look at supporting him through a doctor and we’ll go and see a psychologist. But I just pray that you would or ask that for your prayer support for him, that he would feel better, that he would know his true value and how precious he is to God and his family and that he would get the support he needs around him. 1 Chronicles 26- 29 and Psalm 127

Welcome to Daily Audio Bible Chronological. Today’s the 27th day of May. I’m Jill. Winding down this week together and what a beautiful week it has been being here with you. Thank you for allowing me to be here and sharing in your week with you. And thank you for making the Bible part of your week as well. What an amazing thing for anyone to do. Jumping right into the reading today. We’re reading First Chronicles 26, 27, 28 and 29. And then we will finish today with Psalm chapter 127. Today’s the last day that we are reading from The Voice translation 1 Chronicles, chapter 26.

Prayer:

Father, we thank you for your word today. We thank you for this week. We thank you for this pure privilege that we have to be in Your Word and to meet with you here in this space. Thank you for the words that you have spoke to us. I pray that every person has met them with conviction and not condemnation. I pray that we have heard them because our ears have been opened and our eyes have been opened to see and to hear that which you have desired to speak to us. I ask God that we would not just be hearers of the Word, but we would also be doers of Your Word. As we go out this week, as we let go of the things that we cannot do that are left undone, that are not ours to do, we leave them at your feet. But we go out as representatives of the love, of the mercy, of the compassion and the grace of Almighty God to those that we come in contact with and to ourselves first and foremost, that we would remember those things first and foremost to ourselves and that they would spill out on every person that we come in contact with. We consecrate this time that we have had with you to you, and we give ourselves to that which is new and waiting us as we turn the page together tomorrow for a brand new day. And I pray this now. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

I have a family member whose faith is so much stronger than mine that they don’t feel it necessary to even let me know that they are having surgery on Monday the 22nd, and that’s for cancer. And there’s another issue somewhere else in the body. But I know that if we all pray together for my family member and the strength of their family to go through all of this because it will require all kinds of stuff. I don’t know if they’re praying for miraculous healing, that once they get there, there’s nothing or that he recovers so well that it’s nothing. I don’t know which. Of course, we all pray for that, but we also know that the Lord’s will be done. I just pray that you guys will pray with me in that in all of that, the Lord’s will be done and his miraculous healing be done and that the surgery be not needed, but if so, that the surgeon’s knife be perfect. And thank you. I thank you all for my family member and their families in Jesus name.

Hi, DABC. Chronological. It’s the 21 May. My name’s Ian, and I’m sending out a prayer request for Gilda, the wife of Patrick, who passed away this morning. He had a bleed on the brain, and he also had cancer on his lung and in his stomach. I was sending out a request for him on the wall last night. In fact, I did send a request out on the wall last night and then this morning to get the news that he’s gone home. So now I just want to direct the prayers to Gilda, his wife, who needs uplifting right now because she’s really going through it. So I’m just asking you to pray, lift her up in prayer that God’s peace will be on her, because at this time, it’s very hard for even words to penetrate. So I just pray that you will just lift her up in prayer and that God will be there to wrap his arms around her and keep her. Thank you very much, and God bless you all. Bye bye.

This is Tilly from Florida calling in on May 21 for two people that left prayer request. One was a lady that left that prayer request for her friend who was having open heart operation today. It was on that day. And I really appreciate the fact that you knew that God’s timeline is a lot different than ours, that he knows the beginning from the end, and that he covers our past time, present time, and future time, and that you recognize that these prayers are retroactive no matter what time we pray. And the other one was for the girl that called in for her sister’s boyfriend, who had lymphoma. So, Father, God will lift both of these up to you and know that you’re the healer of all of us. You’re the healer of my heart, and you’re the healer of any type of cancer. Lymphoma that you know what the condition of my heart is, and you know the condition of the heart of that woman’s friend who is by now already recovered. So we thank you for those healings. We thank you for your touch. We thank you that by your stripes we’re healed body, soul and spirit. But right now, we lift up our bodies that are your temple in the name of Jesus and thank you in advance for touching both of these lives. In Jesus name, amen.

I’ve been listening in, but it’s my first time calling in, and I’m just asking for some prayers for my friend. He’s 25. His name is Demarge, and he phoned out last week, Wednesday. It’s Sunday now. Sunday, May 21. To know that he has myeloma. If you know about that cancer of the plasma cells, it has no cure and I have not heard from him since last week, Wednesday, and I have been trying to contact him, and I’m getting worried, and I just need some support.
