Numbers 11:24-13:33, Mark 14:22-52, Psalms 52:1-9, Proverbs 11:1-3

Today is the 9th day of March welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it’s great to be here with you today…well…today and every day. It’s great to be here with you as we move forward on our journey through the Scriptures this year. So, let’s get into it. We’re reading from the New International Version this week and picking up where we left off yesterday in the book of Numbers. Today Numbers 11:24 through 13 verse 33.

Commentary:

Okay. So, in the book of numbers today we actually revisited a place that we have been to before. Might not have seemed like that but we have. It was several centuries ago in time, but we have been through this territory before. So, the children of Israel, obviously they were slaves in Egypt and we went through that whole story and we have seen God take them into the wilderness to reform them and reshape them. And, so, the law is given around Mount Sinai and then the children of Israel move away from Mount Sinai, like they…they get to leave in formation, as they’ve been instructed and go further into the wilderness. And we’ve seen them grumble and gripe and complain, but they’re finally in a staging area where spies have been chosen. And these are not just like, you know, flip a coin to see who gets to go in. These are ancestral family leaders chosen from among the tribes of Israel, so that each tribe has a representative, a respected representative. Again, not like they flip a coin for it. Like somebody who is known as a leader among their people and their sent in to explore the land, the land God had promised them, the land that they’re supposed to go live in. Like that’s what time it is. It’s time. They are free from slavery. They have received the law. They know how their community is supposed to be formed and now it’s time to go in. So, the spies are sent in so they can spy out land. Who’s there? What kind of food is there? What kind of soil is there? What kind of cities are there? And, so, the spies do go into the land and the spy it out and they end up at this place called the Valley of Eshkol. This is the place where they cut the grapes. Like this is the famous part where they carry on their shoulders the produce, the grapes back down and are able to demonstrate to the people, yes, this is indeed a land flowing with milk and honey. It’s more than that though. It’s not just the place where they cut down the grapes. Remember that guy Abraham? We met him. It seems like a long time ago, but it wasn’t that long ago. But in time it’s centuries ago from where we are now. Abraham’s wanderings through the land that God had promised his offspring and his wife Sarah dies and he needs to buy some land from the Hittites. He…he…he needs a place to bury Sarah. And, so, he’s able to buy this cave and this field. And this cave, this is the cave of Machpelah, it’s called in the Bible. And this cave is in a valley, the valley of Eshkol. And Abraham subsequently is buried there in the valley of Eshkol in the cave at Machpelah as well as a number of his offspring. The spies end up there where they can remember their origin story with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. And obviously none of them had been in the land before, they just knew of the promise, they just knew of their ancestors. And, so, they’re able to go there. And this is near the city of Hebron, which is a very, very ancient city, even spoken of as an ancient city in the Bible. And it’s obviously still a city until today. But this cave Machpelah, this burial site of Abraham, this is still in existence today. So, the spies leave their, make their way back to the tribes, make their way back to the community of Israel, and they have these grapes and their able to say, “certainly this is a great land, but we can’t take it. There are giants there.” I don’t move too far ahead in the story because we’ll continue the story tomorrow and there are consequences because of this. But this is a good place to stop and ponder. Like this is a good place to pull over to the side of the road and we’re just gonna stay here pondering until we pick up our reading tomorrow because how many times have we felt the prompting and the promise of God moving us in a direction and we have all kinds of things that affirm that we are being moved and led in this direction. And, so, even wisely we explore moving in this direction only to find out that there will be obstacles moving in that direction, that there will be endurance, that there will be a challenge, that there will be hardship even, that there might even be giants in the land. And then we talk ourselves out of it. We can’t take this…it’s beautiful, it’s perfect, it’s the destiny, it's…it’s indeed where I would love to go but it can be done. There’s giants in the land and I look like a grasshopper. It’s great, but the obstacles are greater. This will have consequence for the children of Israel out in the wilderness, but it has consequence in our life as well. And considering the points at which we simply throw our hands up and surrendered to the giants in the land as opposed to the promise of God, certainly we can think about these things and wallow in guilt or shame or whatever, but that’s never the point. The point is, things could have been different and we can’t keep blaming God for things that we were to…that we were…we were too much of a coward to face down. Some things to think about today.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit come. Come into this. Begin as we continue this season where we’re moving towards Easter, but we’re really openhanded and openhearted even lamenting as we sit with…with the consequences of the choices that we have made. How often have we been a coward when we were to be courageous, strong and courageous? Help us to remember that You are the Sovereign one the Eternal one the Almighty one. And so often we’re afraid of things that aren’t You and have nothing to do with You other than that You are leading us. And we just look around and we determine that where You are leading us is not good and we are not capable when You’re simply revealing that we are because nothing is impossible with You. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Morning this is March 5th Longing to be God’s Delight in Pennsylvania. I wanted to thank the brother who called in I heard this morning to distinguish conviction and condemnation. Thank you that was wonderful. We so forget that conviction is the power of the Holy Spirit to move us forward towards hope and towards God and condemnation is Satan’s way of trying to drive us away from God and into stagnation and stuckness and darkness. But when our hearts condemn us God is greater than our hearts and He knows all things and will lift us up into His light. It is His kindness that leads us to repentance. So, thank you brother. I just wanted to say I’m praying for parents this morning. We’ve heard so many of the woman who called in with postpartum depression, the mother who’s happy that her son is in a state mental institution so he can get help for his addictions and mental issues, but for the mother whose daughter who has been seduced into drugs and prostitution essentially by a so-called boyfriend. Oh, how heartbreaking. Lord I pray for these parents. I pray for your light and for your hope and for the children to be convicted and saved, rescued from themselves, drawn back to you. And let the thunder clouds of deep dark dread that loom up overhead in our troubles would be broken by the power and glory of God and instead pour down blessings of His mercy on our heads. Hi DAB family this is Tammy from the Adirondacks. I had called in last October I think it was. I had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and my kids had been here helping. And praise God, praise report. I am in remission. But I’m still finding the emotions just so heavy. I don’t know if it’s the lack of hormones because I did a complete hysterectomy. I don’t know if it…I just don’t know what it is. There’s just been so much change and the kids aren’t coming to the house as much anymore now that back on my feet and taking care of my husband. And I’m looking for my joy. It is cold and it is just so hard. So, I’m just asking for prayers. I am so grateful and to be blessed and to serve such a wonderful God. He saved me. All the glory and honor as his. I didn’t even get sick with the chemo. I’m just…He’s a wonderful God, And I just type coming, these tears keep coming and I just need them to stop and I just…don’t know why. So, if you could just keep me in your prayers. I can’t remember all of your names, but I pray for you all. I was so happy to hear God’s Smile. You make me smile when I hear you and your kisses. So, please just keep me in your prayers DAB family. Hello DAB family this is God’s Grace for Japan. I come with what in my heart feels like a very urgent prayer request although I hesitate to say that knowing what some people are dealing with. This is actually though my…a dear friend of mine Kristen and her soul and she’s so close everyone. I’ve had the opportunity to really share my…my relationship with my savior with her with our Prince of the Kingdom and she's…I can…I’ve seen with her own face the…the falling in love and she feels it. And I know she’s closed but she has a lot of spiritual wounds and I know she’s reaching for him when I…she spoke to me one night out of the blue when I was spending the night with her expressing everything that she couldn’t believe about this Christian God and…and then I expressed to her who it was that I was with and she said to me with tears in her eyes, “I was afraid that you would say that”, meaning that I said to her the God that you desire is the one that I’m in love with. And she said, “I was afraid you would say that.” We spent the next three hours talking about Him, me telling her stories, and me…and you should have seen her eyes shining. And she’s so close but there’s still blocks there. There’s a desire there but there’s a lot of fear. I will be sending three days with her this coming week from Monday to early Wednesday. Please pray for sweet Kristin. Oh, my goodness I feel Him pulling her to Him and I know that her heart’s longing for Him but there’s a…there’s still blocks and there’s still fear and I just I don't…I’m not making a plan, I’m just trying to go in the Spirit. So, please I ask for everyone over…all over the world to pray…pray for sweet Kristen, that she will come to her Messiah her Prince. Thank you everybody. Love you. Bye.

Hi DAB family it’s James here from the UK calling in tonight for Marie and oh my goodness your story just it really broke my heart. You talked of your daughter and the fact that she has fallen into a group by…by virtue of a pimp who is…is using her and abusing her. And I don’t know why but tonight I‘m standing here under an incredible starlit sky and when I heard your call I just…I just stopped and I’m just looking up and I’m just asking God, please, I want so much for there to be a release of that Young lady, that precious daughter, Your daughter Jesus. I want justice to be done in this situation. I want truth to reign in her life. I want her to be able to see what is going on. And I pray for this man Andrew and for the team he’s putting together to try and break in. Lord in Your name Holy Spirit, in Your power You will have the victory, by one way or another You will have a victory. I pray a blessing on Marie I pray a strength, I pray a strengthening in her life that she would be able to stand firm at this time and have courage. I thank You for her, I thank You for her faith, I thank You for her daughter. Will You bring her home Jesus? Amen.

Last December I sent an email for prayer for the first time because I was not committed, and I just want to say that all your prayers have just blessed me so much. I’ve been committed since I sent that prayer and God has blessed me and showed me many reasons why I have been trying to control things and what’s going on with my life and I can’t sure it’s too long, but I just wanted to say thank you. And those who hesitate to call in please call because people pray for you. They want to hear your prayers they want to help you and bless you. And we need each other. That’s what we’re here for. Hello Daily Audio Bible since God is the Great, I Am I want to be a reflection of that truth and say yes He is. So, this is Yes, He Is calling from the Cumberland plateau Tennessee. I’ve been following along about a year and been really consistent since January with listening and reading along and so thankful for this community, but I want to call in today and pray for Maria my sister in Christ who called in today with a very heavy burden for her daughter Taylor. Lord Jesus we lift Taylor up to You and we pray for her deliverance from captivity to drug addiction, prostitution Lord and this pimp who has captured her and we pray Father that You would bring to her mind remembrance of who she is in Jesus Christ. She is Your beloved child. And I pray for all deceiving lies, deceiving mouths to be stopped, to be shut, that her eyes and her ears and heart would be open to hear the truth of the Holy Spirit speaking to her about Your purpose for her life, Your great awesome love for her. I pray for the missionary team that’s going in to get her. I pray that You would make straight their path and give them a straight way to go in and I pray that You would prepare Taylors’s heart to be receptive, that she would understand that this is You reaching out to her and she would go. I pray You’d open the way of escape for her, and she would go. In the name of Jesus, I…I pray for this one. Thank you.

The Daily Audio Bible Reading for Tuesday March 9, 2021 (NIV)

Numbers 11:24-13:33

24 So Moses went out and told the people what the Lord had said. He brought together seventy of their elders and had them stand around the tent. 25 Then the Lord came down in the cloud(A) and spoke with him,(B) and he took some of the power of the Spirit(C) that was on him and put it on the seventy elders.(D) When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied(E)—but did not do so again.

26 However, two men, whose names were Eldad and Medad, had remained in the camp. They were listed among the elders, but did not go out to the tent. Yet the Spirit also rested on them,(F) and they prophesied in the camp. 27 A young man ran and told Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.”

28 Joshua son of Nun,(G) who had been Moses’ aide(H) since youth, spoke up and said, “Moses, my lord, stop them!”(I)

29 But Moses replied, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the Lord’s people were prophets(J) and that the Lord would put his Spirit(K) on them!”(L) 30 Then Moses and the elders of Israel returned to the camp.

31 Now a wind went out from the Lord and drove quail(M) in from the sea. It scattered them up to two cubits[a] deep all around the camp, as far as a day’s walk in any direction. 32 All that day and night and all the next day the people went out and gathered quail. No one gathered less than ten homers.[b] Then they spread them out all around the camp. 33 But while the meat was still between their teeth(N) and before it could be consumed, the anger(O) of the Lord burned against the people, and he struck them with a severe plague.(P) 34 Therefore the place was named Kibroth Hattaavah,[c](Q) because there they buried the people who had craved other food.

35 From Kibroth Hattaavah the people traveled to Hazeroth(R) and stayed there.

Miriam and Aaron Oppose Moses

12 Miriam(S) and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife,(T) for he had married a Cushite. 2 “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses?” they asked. “Hasn’t he also spoken through us?”(U) And the Lord heard this.(V)

3 (Now Moses was a very humble man,(W) more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.)

4 At once the Lord said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, “Come out to the tent of meeting, all three of you.” So the three of them went out. 5 Then the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud;(X) he stood at the entrance to the tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When the two of them stepped forward, 6 he said, “Listen to my words:

“When there is a prophet among you,
I, the Lord, reveal(Y) myself to them in visions,(Z)
I speak to them in dreams.(AA)
7 But this is not true of my servant Moses;(AB)
he is faithful in all my house.(AC)
8 With him I speak face to face,
clearly and not in riddles;(AD)
he sees the form of the Lord.(AE)
Why then were you not afraid
to speak against my servant Moses?”(AF)

9 The anger of the Lord burned against them,(AG) and he left them.(AH)

10 When the cloud lifted from above the tent,(AI) Miriam’s skin was leprous[d]—it became as white as snow.(AJ) Aaron turned toward her and saw that she had a defiling skin disease,(AK) 11 and he said to Moses, “Please, my lord, I ask you not to hold against us the sin we have so foolishly committed.(AL) 12 Do not let her be like a stillborn infant coming from its mother’s womb with its flesh half eaten away.”

13 So Moses cried out to the Lord, “Please, God, heal her!(AM)”

14 The Lord replied to Moses, “If her father had spit in her face,(AN) would she not have been in disgrace for seven days? Confine her outside the camp(AO) for seven days; after that she can be brought back.” 15 So Miriam was confined outside the camp(AP) for seven days,(AQ) and the people did not move on till she was brought back.

16 After that, the people left Hazeroth(AR) and encamped in the Desert of Paran.(AS)

Exploring Canaan

13 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Send some men to explore(AT) the land of Canaan,(AU) which I am giving to the Israelites.(AV) From each ancestral tribe(AW) send one of its leaders.”

3 So at the Lord’s command Moses sent them out from the Desert of Paran. All of them were leaders of the Israelites.(AX) 4 These are their names:

from the tribe of Reuben, Shammua son of Zakkur;

5 from the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat son of Hori;

6 from the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh;(AY)

7 from the tribe of Issachar, Igal son of Joseph;

8 from the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea son of Nun;(AZ)

9 from the tribe of Benjamin, Palti son of Raphu;

10 from the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel son of Sodi;

11 from the tribe of Manasseh (a tribe of Joseph), Gaddi son of Susi;

12 from the tribe of Dan, Ammiel son of Gemalli;

13 from the tribe of Asher, Sethur son of Michael;

14 from the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi son of Vophsi;

15 from the tribe of Gad, Geuel son of Maki.

16 These are the names of the men Moses sent to explore(BA) the land. (Moses gave Hoshea son of Nun(BB) the name Joshua.)(BC)

17 When Moses sent them to explore Canaan,(BD) he said, “Go up through the Negev(BE) and on into the hill country.(BF) 18 See what the land is like and whether the people who live there are strong or weak, few or many. 19 What kind of land do they live in? Is it good or bad? What kind of towns do they live in? Are they unwalled or fortified? 20 How is the soil? Is it fertile or poor? Are there trees in it or not? Do your best to bring back some of the fruit of the land.(BG)” (It was the season for the first ripe grapes.)(BH)

21 So they went up and explored the land from the Desert of Zin(BI) as far as Rehob,(BJ) toward Lebo Hamath.(BK) 22 They went up through the Negev and came to Hebron,(BL) where Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai,(BM) the descendants of Anak,(BN) lived. (Hebron had been built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)(BO) 23 When they reached the Valley of Eshkol,[e](BP) they cut off a branch bearing a single cluster of grapes. Two of them carried it on a pole between them, along with some pomegranates(BQ) and figs.(BR) 24 That place was called the Valley of Eshkol because of the cluster of grapes the Israelites cut off there. 25 At the end of forty days(BS) they returned from exploring the land.(BT)

Report on the Exploration

26 They came back to Moses and Aaron and the whole Israelite community at Kadesh(BU) in the Desert of Paran.(BV) There they reported to them(BW) and to the whole assembly and showed them the fruit of the land.(BX) 27 They gave Moses this account: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey!(BY) Here is its fruit.(BZ) 28 But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large.(CA) We even saw descendants of Anak(CB) there.(CC) 29 The Amalekites(CD) live in the Negev; the Hittites,(CE) Jebusites(CF) and Amorites(CG) live in the hill country;(CH) and the Canaanites(CI) live near the sea and along the Jordan.(CJ)”

30 Then Caleb(CK) silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”

31 But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.”(CL) 32 And they spread among the Israelites a bad report(CM) about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours(CN) those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size.(CO) 33 We saw the Nephilim(CP) there (the descendants of Anak(CQ) come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers(CR) in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”

Mark 14:22-52

22 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it(A) and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take it; this is my body.”

23 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it.(B)

24 “This is my blood of the[a] covenant,(C) which is poured out for many,” he said to them. 25 “Truly I tell you, I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”(D)

Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial(F)

27 “You will all fall away,” Jesus told them, “for it is written:

“‘I will strike the shepherd,
and the sheep will be scattered.’[b](G)

28 But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”(H)

29 Peter declared, “Even if all fall away, I will not.”

30 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “today—yes, tonight—before the rooster crows twice[c] you yourself will disown me three times.”(I)

31 But Peter insisted emphatically, “Even if I have to die with you,(J) I will never disown you.” And all the others said the same.

Gethsemane(K)

32 They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” 33 He took Peter, James and John(L) along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. 34 “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,”(M) he said to them. “Stay here and keep watch.”

35 Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour(N) might pass from him. 36 “Abba,[d] Father,”(O) he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup(P) from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”(Q)

37 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Simon,” he said to Peter, “are you asleep? Couldn’t you keep watch for one hour? 38 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.(R) The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”(S)

39 Once more he went away and prayed the same thing. 40 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. They did not know what to say to him.

41 Returning the third time, he said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The hour(T) has come. Look, the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 42 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”

Jesus Arrested(U)

43 Just as he was speaking, Judas,(V) one of the Twelve, appeared. With him was a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, the teachers of the law, and the elders.

44 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The one I kiss is the man; arrest him and lead him away under guard.” 45 Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Rabbi!”(W) and kissed him. 46 The men seized Jesus and arrested him. 47 Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.

48 “Am I leading a rebellion,” said Jesus, “that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? 49 Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts,(X) and you did not arrest me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled.”(Y) 50 Then everyone deserted him and fled.(Z)

51 A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him, 52 he fled naked, leaving his garment behind.

Psalm 52[a]

1 Why do you boast of evil, you mighty hero?
Why do you boast(B) all day long,(C)
you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God?
2 You who practice deceit,(D)
your tongue plots destruction;(E)
it is like a sharpened razor.(F)
3 You love evil(G) rather than good,
falsehood(H) rather than speaking the truth.[c]
4 You love every harmful word,
you deceitful tongue!(I)

5 Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin:
He will snatch you up and pluck(J) you from your tent;

Numbers 10:1-11:23, Mark 14:1-21, Psalms 51:1-19, Proverbs 10:31-32

Today is the 8th day of March welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is great to be here with you today as we do what we do. We gather, come around the Global Campfire, we release, exhale all the cares of this life that we’re draggin’ around, and we just allow God’s word to do what God’s word does. It washes into our lives and informs us, directs us, guides us, assures us, corrects and comforts us. So, let’s dive in. We are reading from the New International Version this week. Numbers chapter 10 verse 1 through 11 verse 23.

Commentary:

Okay. So, in the Old Testament, we need just a little bit of a catch-up because we’ve gone through the book of Leviticus and through this much of the book of Numbers and so we’ve been focusing on the giving of the law and the customs in the rituals and the holy days, just the entire tapestry of an emerging culture that is being made out of these former slaves. So, that’s been tedious, and we’ve been in it for a little while. So, today it's…it’s easy to miss that today we packed up camp and moved out. Like we’ve been camping out at Mount Sinai for a long time, and we moved out. So, let’s remember. There was Abraham then there was Isaac, and there was Jacob. Jacob’s name was changed to Israel. He had children. They were the children of Israel. They would grow up in each of those names will become a tribe of Israel. We remember one of those sons was named Joseph and he was trafficked into Egypt by his own family. Of course, he became second-in-command eventually and brought 70 of his household including his father from Canaan to Egypt to save their lives from the famine. They stayed in Egypt. Joseph died and they continued to stay in Egypt. In fact, they stayed in Egypt for 400 years. So, the people that are coming out of Egypt, they have never known any kind of identity other than slavery. That’s all they really know to be. Even though God has miraculously with a powerful hand demonstrated what He’s capable of to protect his people they still grow weary. And it’s interesting because God when He frees them from Egypt doesn’t take them straight into the promised land by the coastal route. He takes them into the wilderness because their identity has to change from slave to chosen one and they need to receive the law. They need to receive what will govern them as a people to remind them of this identity. This is accomplished now. God has told them to move out and go to the promised land. They have moved out, but we can’t hardly get a few miles before the complaining begins. And that’s what we read about today, the complaining, and it’s so discouraging. I wouldn’t presume to speak for God, but it has to be so discouraging for God who has set His people free with an intention to fulfill a promise to listen to what those people are saying. And it has to be so discouraging from Moses. In fact, it was discouraging enough for Moses to say, “this is too big of a burden, I didn’t have all these people, they’re not my kids. You’re asking me basically to be a father to them and carry them like they were my kids, and I can’t do it.” And the people start complaining, “you remember when we were in Egypt when we were slaves. We got free meat and cucumbers and melons leaks and garlic and onions. Remember that? It was all free. We were just slaves and it was wonderful.” After all that God has gone through, that we’ve borne witness to as we’re reading through these stories, that would be such a slap in the face. That would be so discouraging. And then the mirror comes up out of the Bible and we find we’re not looking into an ancient story anymore. We’re looking into our own eyes. We had been enslaved and we were brought into the wilderness and we hate the wilderness. We ate the wildernesses of our lives. We spend all of our energy trying to escape them. When the…the truth of the matter, at least as borne out in the stories in the Scriptures is that we should embrace the wilderness. It is shaping our identity and teaching us to be utterly dependent upon God, which…which is in itself complete freedom because we are dependent upon God. But we’re seen that God is taking care of his people. It was the wilderness that God chose as the backdrop. And if you think about the wildernesses of your life, you can think of very, very difficult times that you don’t ever want to experience again but that is the time when we learn the most, the most deep bed rock things about our existence and who we are. And, so let’s begin as we continue to travel with the children of Israel toward the promised land. As we go out further into the wilderness, let’s remember the wilderness is not purposeless. This is where we learn the most valuable things in life and the most valuable thing we can learn is our utter dependence upon God. That changes our identity from trying to be a sovereign to trying to fully be a dependent.

Prayer:

Jesus, we invite You into that. In fact, we…we move toward the Psalms because they speak so clearly what our hearts need to cry, “have mercy oh God, according to Your unfailing love, according to Your great compassion blot out my transgressions wash away all my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sins. Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean. Wash me and I will be whiter than snow. Create in me a pure heart oh God and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from Your presence or take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me.” This is our cry from the wilderness or from times of great prosperity. Come Holy Spirit and renew us, even as we continue this journey through the…the season of lent, designed to help us focus, focus our dependence upon You and lament the things that we have allowed that would separate us from You. Create in us a clean heart. In Jesus’ name, we ask. Amen.

Numbers 10:1-11:23

The Silver Trumpets

10 The Lord said to Moses: 2 “Make two trumpets(A) of hammered silver, and use them for calling the community(B) together and for having the camps set out.(C) 3 When both are sounded, the whole community is to assemble before you at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 4 If only one is sounded, the leaders(D)—the heads of the clans of Israel—are to assemble before you. 5 When a trumpet blast is sounded, the tribes camping on the east are to set out.(E) 6 At the sounding of a second blast, the camps on the south are to set out.(F) The blast will be the signal for setting out. 7 To gather the assembly, blow the trumpets,(G) but not with the signal for setting out.(H)

8 “The sons of Aaron, the priests, are to blow the trumpets. This is to be a lasting ordinance for you and the generations to come.(I) 9 When you go into battle in your own land against an enemy who is oppressing you,(J) sound a blast on the trumpets.(K) Then you will be remembered(L) by the Lord your God and rescued from your enemies.(M) 10 Also at your times of rejoicing—your appointed festivals and New Moon feasts(N)—you are to sound the trumpets(O) over your burnt offerings(P) and fellowship offerings,(Q) and they will be a memorial for you before your God. The Israelites Leave Sinai

11 On the twentieth day of the second month of the second year,(S) the cloud lifted(T) from above the tabernacle of the covenant law.(U) 12 Then the Israelites set out from the Desert of Sinai and traveled from place to place until the cloud came to rest in the Desert of Paran.(V) 13 They set out, this first time, at the Lord’s command through Moses.(W)

14 The divisions of the camp of Judah went first, under their standard.(X) Nahshon son of Amminadab(Y) was in command. 15 Nethanel son of Zuar was over the division of the tribe(Z) of Issachar,(AA) 16 and Eliab son of Helon(AB) was over the division of the tribe of Zebulun.(AC) 17 Then the tabernacle was taken down, and the Gershonites and Merarites, who carried it, set out.(AD)

18 The divisions of the camp of Reuben(AE) went next, under their standard.(AF) Elizur son of Shedeur(AG) was in command. 19 Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai was over the division of the tribe of Simeon,(AH) 20 and Eliasaph son of Deuel was over the division of the tribe of Gad.(AI) 21 Then the Kohathites(AJ) set out, carrying the holy things.(AK) The tabernacle was to be set up before they arrived.(AL)

22 The divisions of the camp of Ephraim(AM) went next, under their standard. Elishama son of Ammihud(AN) was in command. 23 Gamaliel son of Pedahzur was over the division of the tribe of Manasseh,(AO) 24 and Abidan son of Gideoni was over the division of the tribe of Benjamin.(AP)

25 Finally, as the rear guard(AQ) for all the units, the divisions of the camp of Dan set out under their standard. Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai(AR) was in command. 26 Pagiel son of Okran was over the division of the tribe of Asher,(AS) 27 and Ahira son of Enan was over the division of the tribe of Naphtali.(AT) 28 This was the order of march for the Israelite divisions as they set out.

29 Now Moses said to Hobab(AU) son of Reuel(AV) the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law,(AW) “We are setting out for the place about which the Lord said, ‘I will give it to you.’(AX) Come with us and we will treat you well, for the Lord has promised good things to Israel.”

30 He answered, “No, I will not go;(AY) I am going back to my own land and my own people.(AZ)”

31 But Moses said, “Please do not leave us. You know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you can be our eyes.(BA) 32 If you come with us, we will share with you(BB) whatever good things the Lord gives us.(BC)”

33 So they set out(BD) from the mountain of the Lord and traveled for three days. The ark of the covenant of the Lord(BE) went before them during those three days to find them a place to rest.(BF) 34 The cloud of the Lord was over them by day when they set out from the camp.(BG)

35 Whenever the ark set out, Moses said,

“Rise up,(BH) Lord!
May your enemies be scattered;(BI)
may your foes flee before you.(BJ)”(BK)

36 Whenever it came to rest, he said,

“Return,(BL) Lord,
to the countless thousands of Israel.(BM)”

Fire From the Lord

11 Now the people complained(BN) about their hardships in the hearing of the Lord,(BO) and when he heard them his anger was aroused.(BP) Then fire from the Lord burned among them(BQ) and consumed(BR) some of the outskirts of the camp. 2 When the people cried out to Moses, he prayed(BS) to the Lord(BT) and the fire died down. 3 So that place was called Taberah,[a](BU) because fire from the Lord had burned among them.(BV)

Quail From the Lord

4 The rabble with them began to crave other food,(BW) and again the Israelites started wailing(BX) and said, “If only we had meat to eat! 5 We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost—also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic.(BY) 6 But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!(BZ)”

7 The manna was like coriander seed(CA) and looked like resin.(CB) 8 The people went around gathering it,(CC) and then ground it in a hand mill or crushed it in a mortar. They cooked it in a pot or made it into loaves. And it tasted like something made with olive oil. 9 When the dew(CD) settled on the camp at night, the manna also came down.

10 Moses heard the people of every family wailing(CE) at the entrance to their tents. The Lord became exceedingly angry, and Moses was troubled. 11 He asked the Lord, “Why have you brought this trouble(CF) on your servant? What have I done to displease you that you put the burden of all these people on me?(CG) 12 Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth? Why do you tell me to carry them in my arms, as a nurse carries an infant,(CH) to the land you promised on oath(CI) to their ancestors?(CJ) 13 Where can I get meat for all these people?(CK) They keep wailing to me, ‘Give us meat to eat!’ 14 I cannot carry all these people by myself; the burden is too heavy for me.(CL) 15 If this is how you are going to treat me, please go ahead and kill me(CM)—if I have found favor in your eyes—and do not let me face my own ruin.”

16 The Lord said to Moses: “Bring me seventy of Israel’s elders(CN) who are known to you as leaders and officials among the people.(CO) Have them come to the tent of meeting,(CP) that they may stand there with you. 17 I will come down and speak with you(CQ) there, and I will take some of the power of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them.(CR) They will share the burden of the people with you so that you will not have to carry it alone.(CS)

18 “Tell the people: ‘Consecrate yourselves(CT) in preparation for tomorrow, when you will eat meat. The Lord heard you when you wailed,(CU) “If only we had meat to eat! We were better off in Egypt!”(CV) Now the Lord will give you meat,(CW) and you will eat it. 19 You will not eat it for just one day, or two days, or five, ten or twenty days, 20 but for a whole month—until it comes out of your nostrils and you loathe it(CX)—because you have rejected the Lord,(CY) who is among you, and have wailed before him, saying, “Why did we ever leave Egypt?”’”(CZ)

Mark 14:1-21

Jesus Anointed at Bethany(A)(B)(C)

14 Now the Passover(D) and the Festival of Unleavened Bread were only two days away, and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were scheming to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him.(E) 2 “But not during the festival,” they said, “or the people may riot.”

3 While he was in Bethany,(F) reclining at the table in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head.(G)

4 Some of those present were saying indignantly to one another, “Why this waste of perfume? 5 It could have been sold for more than a year’s wages[a] and the money given to the poor.” And they rebuked her harshly.

6 “Leave her alone,” said Jesus. “Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 7 The poor you will always have with you,[b] and you can help them any time you want.(H) But you will not always have me. 8 She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial.(I) 9 Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world,(J) what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”

10 Then Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve,(K) went to the chief priests to betray Jesus to them.(L) 11 They were delighted to hear this and promised to give him money. So he watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

The Last Supper(M)(N)

12 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, when it was customary to sacrifice the Passover lamb,(O) Jesus’ disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”

13 So he sent two of his disciples, telling them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. 14 Say to the owner of the house he enters, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 15 He will show you a large room upstairs,(P) furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.”

16 The disciples left, went into the city and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.

17 When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve. 18 While they were reclining at the table eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me—one who is eating with me.”

19 They were saddened, and one by one they said to him, “Surely you don’t mean me?”

20 “It is one of the Twelve,” he replied, “one who dips bread into the bowl with me.(Q) 21 The Son of Man(R) will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

For the director of music. A psalm of David. When the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba.(A)

1 Have mercy(B) on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;(C)
according to your great compassion(D)
blot out(E) my transgressions.(F)
2 Wash away(G) all my iniquity
and cleanse(H) me from my sin.

3 For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is always before me.(I)
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned(J)
and done what is evil in your sight;(K)
so you are right in your verdict
and justified when you judge.(L)

Today is the 7th day of March welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it’s great to be here with you today as we do what we do, we reach out together and twist that knob and it’s a…in my mind it’s like a…it’s like a shiny diamond knob and we…we open this threshold and there’s a big gate and it opens itself out into this new week. It’s like we’re back here and we’re looking through into what is the future. That week is out there waiting for us and everything is as it should be because nothing has happened yet. I love that we can consider this. Like I love that we can consider that it’s a reset, that it’s a restart. We may have messed everything in the world up last week. That was last week. We can navigate this. We can slow down, reset, restart, come around this Global Campfire together, know that we’re not alone, warm ourselves, calm ourselves and live this week fully. And, so, let’s make plans to do that. Let’s make the plan right now. And all we gotta do is remember that that’s what we’re gonna do and we’re gonna live into this week knowing that it’s an adventure waiting for us. We may have a bunch of stuff already planned but the truth is it’s going to be an adventure no matter what. And, so, let’s dive in and take the next step forward. This is a brand-new week. We’ll read from the New International Version this week. Numbers chapters 8 and 9.

Prayer:

Father we thank You for bringing us safely into a brand-new week. We are grateful. We will never cease thanking You for Your patience with us and Your kindness and Your compassion toward us, Your loving kindness toward us, things that never end, things that sustain us, things that we have taken for granted so many times even though if they were withdrawn from us, we would wither, we would vanish. You are kind and we worship You. And, so, as we look into this shiny new week Holy Spirit, come, come and lead us every step of the way, everything that we should do, everything that we should say, all of the motives of our hearts, may we be honorable to You, may we be Your ambassadors in this world. Come Holy Spirit we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Hey DAB family it’s Mommy’s Little Rock from Arkansas. I just wanted to say hello. It’s March 3rd and I’ve been praying for everyone on the prayer requests that have come in since then and I am just praying that God is touching your heart for whatever the issues are that you’re looking for healing for blessing for a miracle for something from God and I’m just staying in prayer for each of you. I want to send a message out to Sinner and Saint from Alberta Canada who called in and said her great testimony about losing her father on December 31st. Well I lost my mom on December 31st as well and your testimony really touched my heart and it spoke to me because as my mother passed away she was listening to…or we were listening to one of her favorite gospel songs that God…it’s called God will take care of you. And I just remember listening to that song shortly after her passing and I would listen to the words and the words were basically saying exactly what she would have said had she not passed away during that time. I feel like it was a message directly for me and my brother and my uncle for us to hear those words because she was departing us at that moment. And I just wanted to say thank you so much for sharing your testimony about your father and how reading revelation and…and reading about heaven just as your father was passing, that gave you comfort. And thank you so much for sharing about your daughter. And I’m so thankful that her cancer has been removed and we’re gonna keep praying on everything. So, thank you so much everyone. I love you all. It’s just…it’s just so devastating. Let’s just pray together. Father God You are so wonderful, and I just want You to reach out to those who need You and let them say Your name, Jesus, out loud and be able to grasp Your hand and feel Your peace. Joy of the Lord is our strength and let them lean on You today for strength to go through whatever they are walking through. Help guide their thoughts, let them turn their thoughts towards You and for Your thoughts are higher than ours and that will lift them up and give them strength. Hi Daily Audio Bible family it’s a Daughter of the King from Australia. I just wanted to talk to Anonymous from Tucson AZ again. I really wanted to reassure you there was absolutely no judgment and no condemnation coming the other day when I rang in. I just want to pray for you and everybody else struggling with depression and anxiety. Father God I just want to lift everybody up, all of us Lord God who suffer from these terrible things Lord God and ask Father God that You hold our hands tight enough when we don’t feel like we’ve quite got the strength to hold Your hand Lord. And Father I also ask that Your Holy Spirit would be just constantly there which He is, just guiding us, counseling us, comforting us, nurturing us. Lord I ask for Your Spirit of truth to come upon each one of us and to be just blasting away all lies from the enemy. And Father God I also thank You that Jesus has died on the cross and his blood covers us. Thank You, Lord for the blood of Jesus. And Father I ask that the blood of Jesus would cover each one of us and seal us Lord. Good morning this is Minnesota Ruka I just heard March 5th’s prayer requests and my heart is just very heavy for the lady that called in for Taylor and I would love to lift her up in prayer. Dear heavenly Father I just stand alongside this family Lord as they love their beautiful Taylor and just so want to have her healed Lord where she has been taken away and has been treated improperly Lord. You love this Young woman, and You know that her value and how important she is, and she has lost this value through the confusion of the individuals that have done this to her Lord. In the name of Jesus Christ, I ask that You bind up all of the shatteredness in her mind and her spirit from all that she has been exposed to. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that You open her eyes and that You help her to realize who she truly is and that she is valued and treasured and that this standard of life is not a healthy one and that You want to heal her and You want to restore her. I pray that You bind up all of those negative thoughts, all of those negative spirits feeding her right now so that she truly, truly, Taylor, deep down inside can scream for help and will be willing to take help from those that want to come and help and save and restore her. I give her to You and I know that You are protecting her.

Numbers 8-9

Setting Up the Lamps

8 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Speak to Aaron and say to him, ‘When you set up the lamps, see that all seven light up the area in front of the lampstand.(A)’”

3 Aaron did so; he set up the lamps so that they faced forward on the lampstand, just as the Lord commanded Moses. 4 This is how the lampstand was made: It was made of hammered gold(B)—from its base to its blossoms. The lampstand was made exactly like the pattern(C) the Lord had shown Moses.

The Setting Apart of the Levites

5 The Lord said to Moses: 6 “Take the Levites from among all the Israelites and make them ceremonially clean.(D) 7 To purify them, do this: Sprinkle the water of cleansing(E) on them; then have them shave their whole bodies(F) and wash their clothes.(G) And so they will purify themselves.(H) 8 Have them take a young bull with its grain offering of the finest flour mixed with olive oil;(I) then you are to take a second young bull for a sin offering.[a](J) 9 Bring the Levites to the front of the tent of meeting(K) and assemble the whole Israelite community.(L) 10 You are to bring the Levites before the Lord, and the Israelites are to lay their hands on them.(M) 11 Aaron is to present the Levites before the Lord as a wave offering(N) from the Israelites, so that they may be ready to do the work of the Lord.

12 “Then the Levites are to lay their hands on the heads of the bulls,(O) using one for a sin offering(P) to the Lord and the other for a burnt offering,(Q) to make atonement(R) for the Levites. 13 Have the Levites stand in front of Aaron and his sons and then present them as a wave offering(S) to the Lord. 14 In this way you are to set the Levites apart from the other Israelites, and the Levites will be mine.(T)

15 “After you have purified the Levites and presented them as a wave offering,(U) they are to come to do their work at the tent of meeting.(V) 16 They are the Israelites who are to be given wholly to me. I have taken them as my own in place of the firstborn,(W) the first male offspring(X) from every Israelite woman. 17 Every firstborn male in Israel, whether human or animal,(Y) is mine. When I struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, I set them apart for myself.(Z) 18 And I have taken the Levites in place of all the firstborn sons in Israel.(AA) 19 From among all the Israelites, I have given the Levites as gifts to Aaron and his sons(AB) to do the work at the tent of meeting on behalf of the Israelites(AC) and to make atonement for them(AD) so that no plague will strike the Israelites when they go near the sanctuary.”

20 Moses, Aaron and the whole Israelite community did with the Levites just as the Lord commanded Moses. 21 The Levites purified themselves and washed their clothes.(AE) Then Aaron presented them as a wave offering before the Lord and made atonement(AF) for them to purify them.(AG) 22 After that, the Levites came to do their work(AH) at the tent of meeting under the supervision of Aaron and his sons. They did with the Levites just as the Lord commanded Moses.

23 The Lord said to Moses, 24 “This applies to the Levites: Men twenty-five years old or more(AI) shall come to take part in the work at the tent of meeting,(AJ) 25 but at the age of fifty,(AK) they must retire from their regular service and work no longer. 26 They may assist their brothers in performing their duties at the tent of meeting, but they themselves must not do the work.(AL) This, then, is how you are to assign the responsibilities of the Levites.”

The Passover

9 The Lord spoke to Moses in the Desert of Sinai in the first month(AM) of the second year after they came out of Egypt.(AN) He said, 2 “Have the Israelites celebrate the Passover(AO) at the appointed time.(AP) 3 Celebrate it at the appointed time, at twilight on the fourteenth day of this month,(AQ) in accordance with all its rules and regulations.(AR)”

4 So Moses told the Israelites to celebrate the Passover,(AS) 5 and they did so in the Desert of Sinai(AT) at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month.(AU) The Israelites did everything just as the Lord commanded Moses.(AV)

6 But some of them could not celebrate the Passover on that day because they were ceremonially unclean(AW) on account of a dead body.(AX) So they came to Moses and Aaron(AY) that same day 7 and said to Moses, “We have become unclean because of a dead body, but why should we be kept from presenting the Lord’s offering with the other Israelites at the appointed time?(AZ)”

8 Moses answered them, “Wait until I find out what the Lord commands concerning you.”(BA)

9 Then the Lord said to Moses, 10 “Tell the Israelites: ‘When any of you or your descendants are unclean because of a dead body(BB) or are away on a journey, they are still to celebrate(BC) the Lord’s Passover, 11 but they are to do it on the fourteenth day of the second month(BD) at twilight. They are to eat the lamb, together with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.(BE) 12 They must not leave any of it till morning(BF) or break any of its bones.(BG) When they celebrate the Passover, they must follow all the regulations.(BH) 13 But if anyone who is ceremonially clean and not on a journey fails to celebrate the Passover, they must be cut off from their people(BI) for not presenting the Lord’s offering at the appointed time. They will bear the consequences of their sin.

14 “‘A foreigner(BJ) residing among you is also to celebrate the Lord’s Passover in accordance with its rules and regulations. You must have the same regulations for both the foreigner and the native-born.’”

The Cloud Above the Tabernacle

15 On the day the tabernacle, the tent of the covenant law,(BK) was set up,(BL) the cloud(BM) covered it. From evening till morning the cloud above the tabernacle looked like fire.(BN) 16 That is how it continued to be; the cloud covered it, and at night it looked like fire.(BO) 17 Whenever the cloud lifted from above the tent, the Israelites set out;(BP) wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped.(BQ) 18 At the Lord’s command the Israelites set out, and at his command they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained(BR) in camp. 19 When the cloud remained over the tabernacle a long time, the Israelites obeyed the Lord’s order(BS) and did not set out.(BT) 20 Sometimes the cloud was over the tabernacle only a few days; at the Lord’s command they would encamp, and then at his command they would set out. 21 Sometimes the cloud stayed only from evening till morning, and when it lifted in the morning, they set out. Whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud lifted, they set out. 22 Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out. 23 At the Lord’s command they encamped, and at the Lord’s command they set out. They obeyed the Lord’s order, in accordance with his command through Moses.

Mark 13:14-37

14 “When you see ‘the abomination that causes desolation’[a](A) standing where it[b] does not belong—let the reader understand—then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 15 Let no one on the housetop go down or enter the house to take anything out. 16 Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. 17 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers!(B) 18 Pray that this will not take place in winter, 19 because those will be days of distress unequaled from the beginning, when God created the world,(C) until now—and never to be equaled again.(D)

20 “If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them. 21 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘Look, there he is!’ do not believe it.(E) 22 For false messiahs and false prophets(F) will appear and perform signs and wonders(G) to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 23 So be on your guard;(H) I have told you everything ahead of time.

24 “But in those days, following that distress,

“‘the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
25 the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’[c](I)

26 “At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds(J) with great power and glory. 27 And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.(K)

28 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 29 Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it[d] is near, right at the door. 30 Truly I tell you, this generation(L) will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.(M) 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.(N)

The Day and Hour Unknown

32 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.(O) 33 Be on guard! Be alert[e]!(P) You do not know when that time will come. 34 It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants(Q) in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.

35 “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. 36 If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. 37 What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’”(R)

Psalm 50

A psalm of Asaph.

1 The Mighty One, God, the Lord,(A)
speaks and summons the earth
from the rising of the sun to where it sets.(B)
2 From Zion,(C) perfect in beauty,(D)
God shines forth.(E)
3 Our God comes(F)
and will not be silent;(G)
a fire devours(H) before him,(I)
and around him a tempest(J) rages.
4 He summons the heavens above,
and the earth,(K) that he may judge his people:(L)
5 “Gather to me this consecrated people,(M)
who made a covenant(N) with me by sacrifice.”
6 And the heavens proclaim(O) his righteousness,

7 “Listen, my people, and I will speak;

“What right have you to recite my laws

and cast my words behind(AN) you.
18 When you see a thief, you join(AO) with him;
you throw in your lot with adulterers.(AP)
19 You use your mouth for evil
and harness your tongue to deceit.(AQ)
20 You sit and testify against your brother(AR)
and slander your own mother’s son.
21 When you did these things and I kept silent,(AS)
you thought I was exactly[c] like you.
But I now arraign(AT) you
and set my accusations(AU) before you.

22 “Consider this, you who forget God,(AV)
or I will tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you:(AW)
23 Those who sacrifice thank offerings honor me,

Numbers 6:1-7:89, Mark 12:38-13:13, Psalms 49:1-20, Proverbs 10:27-28

Today is the 6th day of March welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it is a joy and an honor and a privilege to be here with you today as we bring to a close another one of the weeks that we get to share together, the first closing of the week in this new month, the month of March. This our first weekend in this third month of the year. So, let’s dive in. We’ve been reading from the Amplified Bible all this week, which is what we’ll do today. Numbers chapters 6 and 7.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for another week that You have brought us through. And every week we could say, “what a week it’s been” because that’s true. We can look back over the events of our lives and go, “what a week it’s been.” We can look at the territory that we’ve covered in the Scriptures and say, “what a week it’s been.” But one thing that we always can say is that You’ve been faithful every step of the way. You’ve been kind and compassionate toward us and we are so grateful. It is so beyond what we deserve, that You would come and allow us to pour over the Scriptures, that Your Holy Spirit would hover over us, planting things into our lives, shaping us, redirecting us, slowly step-by-step. We like the big grandiose earthmoving kinds of things but You work with a still small voice step-by-step day by day inviting us forward and we’re already far enough into the year to look back and just seems like yesterday we started this year, but we’re in our third month now and we can look back and see slowly by slowly step-by-step still small voice. You are transforming us. And, so, we continue to open ourselves to You thoroughly and fully. Nothing is off-limits to You. Guide our steps we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Good morning DAB family this is brother Mark from Kansas City formerly from Orlando and Oak Hill and North Carolina. I’ve been traveling since this covid crisis began. I felt the need to get on the road. If I was gonna be broke and disoriented I said I might as well be broke and go through this crazy mess with family. So, I’ve been visiting friends and family and I landed back in Kansas City to be closer to my father and my mother. I realized that this whole process makes you want to be closer to your family. It’s a good thing that we have a Daily Audio Bible to keep us connected to our Kingdom family. I just want to say praise God. There have been so many times I’ve wanted to call in and I just haven’t had…haven’t had the opportunity or the heart or can remember to call in. So, I just want to say thank you to all those believers are out there who are praying for in anonymity for your fellow man. It’s the only way that this Kingdom works. We’re all brothers and sisters in this body of Christ. And I just want to tell you that every single time that I thought I was gonna be let down by the world, Jesus picked me back up. When I didn’t have money, it came out of nowhere. When I needed a friend, I always had a friend to come and pick me up. So, I just want to say that Christ is working through all things. He’s always there waiting on you if you just let Him in. He wants no more than to serve you and to lift you up and to make you a better you. I just want to say thank you for Brian and Jill for this platform. I’ve been with you guys since the beginning for about 12 years now, I think. Hello DAB this is Sharon with the in Southern California it’s March 3rd I just listened to the podcast and at the end there was a caller from Nigeria she sang a nice song and at the end of the song she spoke on what God can do. And I guess in the song it said, “what God cannot do does not exist”. And those words hit me in my heart, deep in my heart, just made me praise God that there isn’t anything that He cannot do. And that just filled me with so much joy. I want to thank you. I’m sorry I didn’t get your name but thank you for those words, that powerful message, those simple words that mean so much. Thank you. Good morning Daily Audio Bible this is Nadine calling from East to Midwest. Today is March the 3rd and today I needed to call in because there was such a high spirit. I mean I felt it even before I called. It was just, I don’t know, kind of a thickness. Not a sadness but just a thickness, just a strong presence of God. And then when I listened to Daily Audio Bible, I heard the different prayers and praise reports. So, I just wanted to prayer and pray and thank everyone who had called. Stephanie, we all know that we can trust in God. So, sometimes we don’t ask. I feel that. So, we normally ask God, you know, and…and we don’t rely on other people. But it’s a wonderful thing that we have DAB to go to when we are feeling overwhelmed. So, yeah, thank you for calling in, sharing that, and I pray that God gives you your heart’s desire, strength and faith and turn your grief into joy by you being able to see your family. Law of the Nazirites

6 Again the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Say to the sons of Israel, ‘When a man or a woman makes a special vow, the vow of a Nazirite, that is, one separated and dedicated to the Lord, 3 he shall abstain from wine and strong drink; he shall drink no vinegar, whether made from wine or strong drink, nor shall he drink any grape juice nor eat fresh or dried grapes.(A) 4 [a]All the time of his separation he shall not eat anything produced from the grapevine, from the seeds even to the skins.

5 ‘All the time of the vow of his separation no razor shall be used on his head. Until the time of his separation to the Lord is completed, he shall be holy, and shall let the hair of his head grow long.

6 ‘All the time that he separates himself to the Lord he shall not go near a dead body. 7 He shall not make himself [ceremonially] unclean for his father, mother, brother, or sister, when they die, because [the responsibility for] his separation to God is on his head. 8 All the time of his separation he is holy to the Lord.

9 ‘If a man dies very suddenly beside him, and he defiles his dedicated head, then he shall shave his head on the day that he becomes [ceremonially] clean; he shall shave it on the seventh day [the end of the purification period]. 10 On the eighth day he shall bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons to the priest, to the doorway of the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle). 11 The priest shall offer the one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering and make atonement for him concerning his sin because of the [dead] body. He shall consecrate his head the same day, 12 and he shall dedicate himself to the Lord for the time of his separation and shall bring a male lamb a year old as a guilt offering; but the previous days will be void and lost, because his separation was defiled.

13 ‘Now this is the law of the Nazirite when the days of his separation and dedication are fulfilled: he shall bring the offering to the doorway of the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle). 14 and he shall offer his gift to the Lord: one male lamb a year old without blemish as a burnt offering, and one female lamb a year old without blemish as a sin offering, and one ram without blemish as a peace offering, 15 and a basket of unleavened bread, cakes of fine flour mixed with oil, and wafers of unleavened bread spread with oil, along with their grain offering and their drink offering. 16 Then the priest shall present them before the Lord and shall offer the person’s sin offering and his burnt offering. 17 He shall also offer the ram as a sacrifice of peace offerings to the Lord, together with the basket of unleavened bread; the priest shall offer also its grain offering and its drink offering. 18 The Nazirite shall shave his dedicated head at the doorway of the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle), and take the dedicated hair of his head and put it on the fire which is under the sacrifice of the peace offerings. 19 The priest shall take the boiled shoulder of the ram, and one unleavened [ring-shaped] loaf out of the basket, and one unleavened flat cake and shall put them on the hands of the Nazirite after he has shaved his dedicated hair. 20 Then the priest shall wave them as a wave offering before the Lord; they are a holy portion for the priest, together with the breast that is waved and the thigh that is offered by lifting up; and afterward the Nazirite may drink wine.’

21 “This is the law for the [b]Nazirite who vows his offering to the Lord for his separation, besides what else [c]he is able to afford, according to the vow which he has vowed; so shall he do according to the law for his separation and abstinence [as a Nazirite].”(B)

Aaron’s Benediction

22 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 23 “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the Israelites. Say to them:

24 
The Lord bless you, and keep you [protect you, sustain you, and guard you];

25 
The Lord make His face shine upon you [with favor],
And be gracious to you [surrounding you with lovingkindness];

26 
The Lord lift up His countenance (face) upon you [with divine approval],
And give you peace [a tranquil heart and life].’

27 So Aaron and his sons shall put My name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.”

Offerings of the Leaders

7 On the day that Moses had finished setting up the tabernacle and had anointed and consecrated it and all its furniture, and the altar and all its utensils; he also anointed them and consecrated them [for holy use]. 2 Then the leaders of Israel, the heads of their fathers’ households, made offerings. (These were the leaders of the tribes; they were the ones who [d]were over the men who were numbered.) 3 They brought their offering before the Lord, six covered carts and twelve oxen; a cart for each two of the leaders and an ox for each one; and they presented them before the tabernacle. 4 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 5 “Accept these things from them, so that they may be used in the service of the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle), and give them to the Levites, to each man according to his service.” 6 So Moses took the carts and the oxen and gave them to the Levites. 7 He gave two carts and four oxen to the sons of Gershon, according to their service [in transporting the tabernacle]; 8 and he gave four carts and eight oxen to the sons of Merari, according to their service [in transporting the tabernacle], under the supervision of Ithamar the son of Aaron, the [high] priest. 9 But to the sons of Kohath he gave nothing, because they were assigned the care of the holy things which they carried on their shoulders [when the tabernacle was moved].

10 The leaders offered the dedication sacrifices for the altar on the day that it was anointed; and they offered their sacrifice before the altar. 11 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Let them present their offerings, one leader each day, for the dedication of the altar.”

12 Now the one who presented his offering on the first day was Nahshon the son of Amminadab, of the tribe of Judah; 13 and his offering was one silver dish, the weight of which was a hundred and thirty shekels, one silver basin of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering; 14 one golden bowl of ten shekels, full of incense; 15 one young bull, one ram, one male lamb one year old, as a burnt offering; 16 one male goat as a sin offering; 17 and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, five male lambs one year old. 72 On the eleventh day [it was] Pagiel the son of Ochran, leader [of the tribe] of the sons of Asher [who presented his offering]; 73 his offering was one silver dish, the weight of which was a hundred and thirty shekels, and one silver basin of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering; 74 one golden bowl of ten shekels, full of incense; 75 one young bull, one ram, and one male lamb one year old, as a burnt offering; 76 one male goat as a sin offering; 77 and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, five male lambs one year old. This was the offering of Pagiel the son of Ochran [from the tribe of Asher].

78 On the twelfth day [it was] Ahira the son of Enan, leader [of the tribe] of the sons of Naphtali [who presented his offering]; 79 his offering was one silver dish, the weight of which was a hundred and thirty shekels, and one silver basin of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil as a grain offering; 80 one golden bowl of ten shekels, full of incense; 81 one young bull, one ram, one male lamb one year old, as a burnt offering; 82 one male goat as a sin offering; 83 and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, five male lambs one year old. This was the offering of Ahira the son of Enan [from the tribe of Naphtali].

84 This was the dedication offering for the altar from the leaders of Israel on the day when it was anointed: twelve dishes of silver, twelve silver basins, twelve golden bowls; 85 each dish of silver weighing a hundred and thirty shekels, each basin seventy [shekels]; all the silver vessels weighed 2,400 shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary; 86 the twelve golden bowls, full of incense, weighing ten shekels apiece, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, all the gold of the bowls being a hundred and twenty shekels; 87 all the oxen for the burnt offering were twelve bulls, the rams twelve, the male lambs one year old twelve, together with their grain offering; and the male goats as a sin offering twelve; 88 and all the oxen for the sacrifice of the peace offerings were twenty-four bulls, the rams sixty, the male goats sixty, the male lambs one year old sixty. This was the dedication for the altar [of burnt offering] after it was anointed.

89 Now when Moses went into the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) to speak with the Lord, he heard the voice speaking to him from above the mercy seat (the gold cover) that was on the ark of the Testimony from between the two cherubim; and He spoke [by special revelation] to him.

Mark 12:38-13:13

38 In [the course of] His teaching He was saying, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes [displaying their prominence], and like to receive respectful greetings in the market places, 39 and [they love] the [a]chief seats in the synagogues and the places of distinction and honor at banquets, 40 [these scribes] who devour (confiscate) widows’ houses, and offer long prayers for appearance’s sake [to impress others]. These men will receive greater condemnation.”

The Widow’s Mite

41 And He sat down opposite the [temple] treasury, and began watching how the people were putting money into the [b]treasury. And many rich people were putting in [c]large sums.(A) 42 A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amount to a [d]mite. 43 Calling His disciples to Him, He said to them, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, this poor widow put in [proportionally] more than all the contributors to the treasury. 44 For they all contributed from their surplus, but she, from her poverty, put in all she had, all she had to live on.”

Things to Come

13 As He was coming out of the temple [grounds], one of His disciples said to Him, “Teacher, look what [e]wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!”(B) 2 Jesus replied to him, “You see these great buildings? Not one stone will be left on another which will not be [f]torn down!”

3 As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked Him privately, 4 “Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign when all these things are about to be fulfilled?” 5 Jesus began to say to them, “Be careful and see to it that no one misleads you. 6 Many will come in My name [misusing My name or claiming to be the Messiah], saying, ‘I am He!’ and will deceive and mislead many. 7 When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed (frightened, troubled); these things must take place, but the end is not yet. 8 For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. These things are the beginning of the [g]birth pangs [the intolerable anguish and suffering].

9 “But be on your guard; they will turn you over to courts, and you will be beaten in synagogues, and you will stand [as accused] before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them. 10 The gospel [that is, the good news regarding the way of salvation] must first be preached to all the [Gentile] nations.(C) 11 When they take you and turn you over [to the court], do not worry beforehand about what to say, but say whatever is given to you [by God] in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but it is the Holy Spirit [who will speak through you]. 12 Brother will betray brother to [be put to] death, and a father [will hand over] his child; and children will rise up and take a stand against parents and have them put to death. 13 You will be hated by everyone because of [your association with] My name, but the one who [patiently perseveres empowered by the Holy Spirit and] endures to the end, he will be saved.

  2. Mark 12:41 Thirteen trumpet-shaped chests were placed around the wall in the Court of Women in the temple.

Mark 12:41 The thirteen receptacles for the money were metal and the heavy silver coins contributed by the wealthy would have made quite a noise when they were deposited, calling audible attention to the size of each contribution. By contrast, the widow’s coins (v 42) would have barely made a sound.

They also said that Herod built it of yellow, white, and perhaps blue marble; and that he intended to cover it with gold, but the rabbis advised him not to because it was beautiful just as it was, looking like the waves of the sea.
  6. Mark 13:2 In a.d. 70, just six years after the temple complex was completed, it was destroyed by the Roman general Titus and his army, who thoroughly devastated Jerusalem.
  7. Mark 13:8 The Jews used this phrase to describe the unprecedented trouble that would occur prior to Messiah’s advent (as recorded in the Talmud).

Psalm 49

The Folly of Trusting in Riches.

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

49 Hear this, all peoples;
Listen carefully, all inhabitants of the world,

Both low and high,
Rich and poor together:
3 
My mouth will speak wisdom,
And the meditation of my heart will be understanding.
4 
I will incline my ear and consent to a proverb;
On the lyre I will unfold my riddle.

5 
Why should I fear in the days of evil,
When the wickedness of those who would betray me surrounds me [on every side],
6 
Even those who trust in and rely on their wealth
And boast of the abundance of their riches?
7 
None of them can by any means redeem [either himself or] his brother,
Nor give to God a ransom for him—
8 
For the ransom of his soul is too costly,
And he should cease trying forever—
9 
So that he should live on eternally,
That he should never see the pit (grave) and undergo decay.

10 
For he sees that even wise men die;
The fool and the stupid alike perish
And leave their wealth to others.(A)

Their inward thought is that their houses will continue forever,
And their dwelling places to all generations;
They have named their lands after their own names [ignoring God].

Be not afraid when [an ungodly] man becomes rich,
When the wealth and glory of his house are increased;

And though people praise you when you do well for yourself—

He shall go to the generation of his fathers;
They shall never again see the light.

A man [who is held] in honor,

The [reverent] fear of the Lord [worshiping, obeying, serving, and trusting Him with awe-filled respect] prolongs one’s life,

Numbers 4:1-5:31, Mark 12:18-37, Psalms 48:1-14, Proverbs 10:26

Today is the 5th day of March welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is wonderful to be here with you today as we round the corner on another week and head toward home. We’ve reading from the Amplified Bible this week, which…which is what we’ll continue to do through the end of the week, which is…like, which is officially tomorrow. So, let’s dive in. Numbers chapters 4 and 5 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, let’s talk about the proverb as we conclude our week. I have a habit of a little swig of apple cider vinegar in the morning almost every day and that will wake you up in a hurry. I have also been around campfires where the wind has shifted and blown the smoke directly into my face and into my eyes and I have some challenges in that area and so can quickly become irritated. I’m sure I’m not the only one. According to the voice of wisdom found in the book of Proverbs those are examples for what it is like to have essentially a lazy employee, somebody that you are counting on to accomplish something, but they are lazy, and you send them to do this thing and they end up being like a swig of vinegar or smoke in the eyes. So, just imagine going to your pantry and getting whatever vinegar you have and, yeah, just unscrew the cap and take a nice big swig. What does that set off? It’s a sharp taste. It's…it’s irritating. Like it causes us to squint. We might involuntary… involuntary shake our heads back and forth like we bit a lemon or something. It’s not the kind reaction where you go like, “ah, that’s what I needed”, like a bowl of chicken soup when you’re not feeling well. It’s like the opposite of that or having smoke in your eyes is blowing in your face until your eyes are all red and watering and you’re trying to wash them out and the irritation won’t go away. That’s what it’s like to have an unconscientiously lazy person doing work for you. So, we should think about this. Certainly, as we just have but we should also think about this in terms of our own lives. What kind of worker are we? Like are we that person who is trying to show up because we have to pay the bills, but we hate the place that we work and so we’re doing everything conceivable to do as little as possible, just enough…just enough to keep us from losing that job or just completely distracted. Our minds are somewhere else almost all the time and we’re not conscientious and we’re not paying attention to the things that we’re getting paid to do. Basically, what needs to be done, needs to be done or it wouldn’t have been assigned. And or it needs to be done right or somebody else has to then go behind and do it right, if not, it's…it’s incomplete and it’s going to fall apart, whatever it is. So we can see why that would be like a swig of vinegar, smoke in the eyes. Is that who we are? Is that what we do in the name of Jesus every day that we get up and go to the office? If so, then, yeah, then we’re causing this reaction. It may be unspoken but it is being observed. We’re causing this acrid, bitter, pungent reaction. And, so, the deeper truth here with wisdom is that that’s not going to go anywhere. That is not a long-term strategy that will get us anywhere in life. And, so, as we move out of our work week today, go through the weekend and prepare for the next shiny sparkly new week maybe this is something to carry around and consider over the next couple of days. Are we causing those kinds of reactions in the places that we work in people that we interact with or are we on the receiving end of that and maybe it’s gone on long enough? Maybe it’s not going anywhere for anybody. Some things to think about.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit come. Come into those things. No matter what side of the coin we may consider this from it still does invite us forward into doing something about it. Like it’s an untenable situation. And, so, Holy Spirit, come lead us forward that we might reclaim lost time that can then be devoted to Your service in this world. Come Jesus we pray. In Your mighty name, we ask. Amen.

Hey DAB family it’s Doctor John from Jordan New York calling in for our anonymous 29-year-old mom with postpartum depression and a 3-month-old. Dear, you are not alone and not just in the spiritual sense where we’re all around you and praying for you, but in the sense that this is something very common. You may not know this but I’m a family doctor and I deliver babies and so I do deal with postpartum depression unfortunately quite a bit. Part of this is a spiritual battle and that’s the part where you’ve got to understand what you’re fighting against so that you can fight back. And you need to fight back. So, Satan and his minions, his demons are going to come against you and they’re going to say you’re fat, you’re ugly, you’re stupid, you’re worthless, it’s useless, nobody loves you, no one cares about you, you might as well die. But you need to tell Satan and his demons to shut up and you do that in Jesus’ name. In Jesus name I command you to be silent. And that is how you get those voices out of your head that just keep hammering away making you hurt and making you feel worthless. Also finding a good Christian counselor can be very, very helpful. So, you’ve got this. Medication can be very helpful. I use that quite a bit. But prayer and fighting against Satan and the evil spirits that are trying to tear your down, that’s where you get over this. We love you. You’ve got this. Let us know how you’re doing. Hello, my name is Lynn I really just found out about the Daily Audio Bible maybe in the last six months and I want to say I have enjoyed listening and hearing the prayers of the people praying for the requests that have been made. I am calling to leave a prayer request. It’s for myself, it’s for my daughter, her family. She has a really rocky marriage. I mean really rocky marriage and I try helping her with the kids as…as much as I can. I babysit them every day four children 8 years old and under geared. One is on the autism spectrum and the baby being one. And the…the relationship between my daughter and her husband is just…it’s just really, really heartbreaking. And I guess I’m calling because I would like to see God move on their behalf and…and also for myself because it’s hard for me to watch what’s going on daily to my grandchildren and what’s going on to my daughter because my…my…my son in law is not an attentive husband or is he an attentive father. And I’m not saying that all the blame is being pieced on him and I know that people can’t give what they don’t have but I’m just asking that, you know, that…that I would be prayed for, that my daughter would be prayed for, her children and my son in law as well for his salvation in particular. Hi this is Maria and I’m a follower of Jesus and I’ve listened to DAB the DAB for several years now. I just thank you so much Brian and family for doing all of this. I just love this community it’s been such a blessing in my life, and I thank you and I’m calling for the first time. I’ve made three recordings but I’m trying to get through a recording without crying. So, I just need prayer for my daughter who’s 26 her name is Taylor and about a year and a half ago she met a guy who groomed her and fed her drugs and started trafficking her and by the time we figured out what was going on she was knee deep in this darkness and we could not pull her out. She didn’t even want to get out. She's…so she’s completely in love with this pimp boyfriend and she’s working a massage parlor living in a hotel and the massage parlor is a prostitution ring. And I feel so hopeless. I need prayer for my daughter. I need her to come back to Jesus and…and I just…there’s a missionary team that…that’s decided to take on her case. They do go in after these girls and they’re gonna…his name is Andrew he’s getting a team together to go and get her out, to try to reach out to her and get her out of there. Please pray for his team and please pray for Taylor’s heart to be prepared. And I just thank you so much you guys. I love you so much and I pray for you. Whenever I listen to the prayers, I pray for you. My heart is always so tender towards you guys.

Hey DABbers, this is Micah in Awe in the Kansas City area. I just wanted to call and shed some light on conviction versus condemnation. One is from God one is from Satan. Biola from Maryland touched on this the other day and I caught a piece of it and I realized, like last night when I was trying to go to bed my thoughts were racing and I kept thinking about I was screwing up in different ways, that the sins that I’ve done lately popped into my mind. And I felt a feeling of hopelessness like it was in my tired state. Like now that I’m sober minded and awake I realize that it was condemnation from the enemy. It was Satan straight up in my ear telling me all the ways I’m a screw up and that I’m hopeless like all those parts of the Bible where God is putting His wrath on people and destroying people and that’s me now, you know, like that’s what I was thinking last night, like I’m under this wrath. Like, but now that I’m sober minded I realized that was from the enemy. And when I receive conviction from God it’s different, it’s a knowledge of the sin that I’ve done and it’s a way to renew myself from it, like to repent from it, to turn from it, to do…to apologize to whoever…to do better, right? But when it’s from Satan the condemnation then it’s a feeling of hopelessness, it’s a feeling of you…you’re a screw up, you can’t fix it, you’re under the wrath of God, you’re going to hell. That’s what kind of nation feels like, right? So, I want all of you to be able to pinpoint that when it happens to you so that you don’t fall victim to this. Know that you…you will receive conviction but that’s good, that’s good. That’s means God is watching you and He’s working with you. Condemnation, you don’t even need to listen to it. I love you guys. Hang in there.

Hello DAB family it’s Julie from southern Illinois longtime listener first time caller. I want to thank Adrian from Washington DC for her encouraging words and openly thanking God this morning. I’m so glad she’s made so much progress. I too want to thank God for all He has done for me in my life. But at present my husband of 20 years has asked me for a divorce and I’m lost but I know God has a plan, I trust God and I know I will come through this all the better. Good morning Daily Audio Bible community today is March the 3rd and my name is D calling from New York. I’m a first-time caller, three-year listener. I actively pray for everyone. I listen daily, just never ever called in. Today I’m calling for prayer requests as I was recently diagnosed with covid and so was my son. Thank God we’re both experiencing mild enough symptoms and I trust God that we are going to get through this just fine. So, the reason for my prayer request is for my husband who though still awaits his covid test result has begun to experience symptoms. They are a little bit more intense than my sons and I and so because he has underlying conditions that are likely to complicate things for him, I’m really hoping for your prayers. And I pray that God would strengthen his body and his immune system so that he’s able to fight this off and get through it fine. Thanks in advance for your prayers for all three of us but especially for my husband. Thank you.

Numbers 4-5

Duties of the Kohathites

4 Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, 2 “Take a census of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, by their families (clans), by their fathers’ households, 3 from thirty years old and upward, even to fifty years old, all who enter the service to do the work in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle). 4 This is the work and responsibility of the sons of Kohath in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle): the most holy things.

5 “When the camp prepares to move out, Aaron and his sons shall come into the sanctuary and take down [a]the veil (curtain) screening off the Holy of Holies, and cover the ark of the testimony with it; 6 and they shall put on it a covering of [b]porpoise skin (fine leather), and shall spread over that a cloth of pure blue, and shall insert the carrying poles of the ark. 7 Over the table of the bread of the Presence they shall spread a cloth of blue and put on it the plates, the dishes [for incense], the sacrificial bowls, the jars for the drink offering, and the continual bread [of the Presence] shall be on it. 8 They shall spread over them a cloth of scarlet, and cover that with a covering of porpoise skin, and they shall insert its carrying poles. 9 Then they shall take a blue cloth and cover the lampstand for the light, along with its lamps, its wick cutters, its trays, and all the oil vessels, by which it is supplied; 10 and they shall put the lampstand and all its utensils in a covering of porpoise skin, and shall put it on the carrying bars. 11 Over the golden [incense] altar they shall spread a blue cloth, and cover it with a covering of porpoise skin, and shall insert its carrying poles; 12 and they shall take all the utensils of the service with which they minister in the sanctuary, and put them in a blue cloth, and cover them with a covering of porpoise skin, and put them on the carrying bars. 13 Then they shall clean away the ashes from the altar [of burnt offering], and spread a purple cloth over it. 14 They shall also put on it all its utensils with which they minister in connection with it: the pans, the meat-forks, the shovels, the basins, and all the utensils of the altar; and they shall spread a covering of porpoise skin over it, and insert its carrying poles. 15 When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary and all its furniture, as the camp sets out, after all that [is done, but not before], the sons of Kohath shall come to carry them [using the poles], so that they do not touch the holy things, and die. These are the things in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle) which the sons of Kohath are to carry.

16 “The responsibility of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, is the oil for the light, the [c]fragrant incense, the continual grain offering, and the anointing oil—the responsibility of all the tabernacle and everything that is in it, with the sanctuary and its furnishings.”

17 Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, 18 “Do not cut off (eliminate, destroy) the tribe of the families of the Kohathites [who are only Levites and not priests], from among the Levites [by exposing them to the sin of [d]touching the most holy things]. 19 But deal with them in this way, so that they may live and not die when they approach the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in and assign each of them to his [specific] work and to his load [to be carried on the march]. 20 But the Kohathites shall not go in to see the holy things, even for an instant, or they will die.”

Duties of the Gershonites

21 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 22 “Take a census of the sons of Gershon also, by their fathers’ households, by their families. 23 From thirty years and upward to fifty years old, you shall number them; all who enter for service to do the work in the Tent of Meeting. 24 This is the service of the families of the Gershonites, in serving and in carrying [when on the march]: 25 they shall carry the tent curtains of the tabernacle, and the Tent of Meeting, its covering and the covering of porpoise skin (fine leather) that is on top of it, and the curtain for the doorway of the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle), 26 and the hangings of the courtyard, and the curtain for the entrance of the gate of the courtyard which is around the tabernacle and the altar, and their tent ropes, and all the equipment for their service; and all that is to be done, they shall [e]perform. 27 Aaron and his sons shall direct all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, all they have to carry and all they have to do. You shall assign to them as a duty all that they are to carry [on the march]. 28 This is the service of the families of the sons of Gershon in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle); and their duties shall be [f]under the direction of Ithamar the son of Aaron, the [high] priest.

Duties of the Merarites

29 “As for the sons of Merari, you shall number them by their families (clans), by their fathers’ households; 30 from thirty years and upward to fifty years old, you shall number them, everyone who enters the service to do the work of the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle). 31 This is what they are assigned to carry [on the march], according to all their service in the Tent of Meeting: the boards [for the framework] of the tabernacle and its bars and its pillars and its sockets or bases, 32 and the pillars around the courtyard with their sockets or bases and their pegs and their cords (tent ropes), with all their equipment and with all their [accessories for] service; and you shall assign each man by name the items [g]he is to carry [on the march]. 33 This is the work of the families of the sons of Merari, according to all their tasks in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle), [h]under the direction of Ithamar the son of Aaron, the priest.”

34 So Moses and Aaron and the leaders of the congregation numbered the sons of the Kohathites by their families (clans) and by their fathers’ households, 35 from thirty years and upward even to fifty years old, everyone who enters the service to do the work in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle); 36 the men who were numbered by their families were 2,750. 37 These were numbered of the families of the Kohathites, all who did service in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle), whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of the Lord [i]through Moses.

38 The men who were numbered of the sons of Gershon, by their families (clans), and by their fathers’ households, 39 from thirty years and upward even to fifty years old, everyone who entered the service to do the work in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle); 40 the men who were numbered by their families, by their fathers’ households, were 2,630. 41 These were numbered men of the families of the sons of Gershon, everyone who served in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle), whom Moses and Aaron numbered just as the Lord had commanded.

42 The men who were numbered of the sons of Merari, by their families (clans), by their fathers’ households, 43 from thirty years and upward even to fifty years old, everyone who entered the service for work in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle); 44 the men who were numbered by their families were 3,200. 45 These are the men who were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, whom Moses and Aaron numbered in accordance with the commandment of the Lord through Moses.

46 All the men who were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the leaders of Israel counted by their families (clans) and by their fathers’ households, 47 from thirty years and upward even to fifty years old, everyone who could enter to do the work of service and the work of carrying in the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle); 48 the men that were numbered were 8,580. 49 According to the commandment of the Lord through Moses, they were numbered, each assigned to his work of serving and carrying. Thus they were numbered by him, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

On Defilement

5 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Command the Israelites to send away from the camp every leper and everyone who has a discharge, and whoever is defiled [that is, ceremonially unclean] by [coming in contact with] the dead. 3 You shall send away both male and female; you shall send them outside the camp so that they will not defile their camp where I dwell in their midst.” 4 The Israelites did so, and sent them outside the camp; just as the Lord had said to Moses, so the Israelites did.

5 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 6 “Say to the Israelites, ‘When a man or woman commits any of the sins of mankind [against other people], thus breaking faith with the Lord, and that person is guilty, 7 then he shall confess the sin which he has committed, and he shall make restitution for his wrong in full, and add a fifth to it, and give it to [the person] whom he has wronged. 8 But if the man [who was wronged] has no redeemer (relative) to whom the restitution may be made, it is to be given to the Lord for the priest, besides the ram of atonement with which atonement is made for the offender. 9 Also every contribution pertaining to all the holy gifts of the Israelites which they offer to the priest, shall be his. 10 And every man’s holy gifts shall be the priest’s; whatever any man gives the priest, it becomes his.’”

The Adultery Test

11 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 12 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them, ‘If any man’s wife goes astray (deviates) and is unfaithful to him, 13 and a man is intimate with her, and it is hidden from the eyes of her husband and it is kept secret, although she has defiled herself, and there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act, 14 and if a spirit (sense, attitude) of jealousy comes over him and he is jealous and angry at his wife who has defiled herself—or if a spirit of jealousy comes over him and he is jealous of his wife when she has not defiled herself— 15 then the man shall bring his wife to the priest, and he shall bring as an offering for her, a tenth of an ephah of barley meal; he shall not pour oil on it nor put frankincense on it [the symbols of favor and joy], because it is a grain offering of jealousy, a memorial grain offering, a reminder of [the consequences of] wickedness.

16 ‘Then the priest shall have her approach and have her stand before the Lord, 17 and the priest shall take holy water [from the sacred basin] in an earthenware vessel; and he shall take some of the dust that is on the floor of the tabernacle and put it in the water. 18 The priest shall then have the woman stand before the Lord, and let the hair of the woman’s head hang loose, and put the memorial grain offering in her hands, which is the jealousy offering, and in the hand of the priest is to be the water of bitterness that brings a curse. 19 Then the priest shall have her take an oath and say to the woman, “If no man has lain with you and if you have not gone astray into uncleanness [while married], then be immune to this water of bitterness that brings a curse; 20 but if you have gone astray [while married] and you have defiled yourself and a man other than your husband has been intimate with you” 21 (then the priest shall have the woman swear the oath of the curse, and say to the woman), “The Lord make you a curse and an oath among your people when the Lord makes your thigh [j]waste away and your abdomen swell; 22 and this water that brings a curse shall go into your stomach, and make your abdomen swell and your thigh waste away.” And the woman shall say, “Amen. Amen (so let it be).”

23 ‘The priest shall then write these curses on a scroll and shall wash them off into the water of bitterness; 24 and he shall make the woman drink the water of bitterness that brings a curse, and the water that brings the curse will go into her and cause bitterness. 25 Then the priest shall take the grain offering of jealousy out of the woman’s hand, and he shall wave the grain offering before the Lord and offer it on the altar. 26 Then the priest shall take a handful of the grain offering as the memorial portion of it and offer it up in smoke on the altar, and afterward he shall make the woman drink the water. 27 When he has made her drink the water, then it shall come about, that if she has defiled herself and has been unfaithful to her husband, the curse water will go into her and cause bitterness and cause her abdomen to swell and her thigh to waste away, and the woman will become a curse among her people. 28 But if the woman has not defiled herself and is clean, then she will be free and conceive children.

29 ‘This is the law of jealousy: when a wife goes astray [while married] and defiles herself, 30 or when a spirit (sense, attitude) of jealousy and suspicion comes on a man and he is jealous of his wife; then he shall have the woman stand before the Lord, and the priest shall apply this law to her. 31 Further, the husband will be free from guilt, but that woman [if guilty] shall bear her guilt.’”

18 Some Sadducees (who say that there is no resurrection) came to Him, and began questioning Him, saying,(A) 19 “Teacher, Moses wrote for us [a law] that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but leaves no child, his brother is to [a]marry the widow and raise up children for his brother.(B) 20 There were seven brothers; the first [one] took a wife, and died leaving no children. 21 The second brother married her, and died leaving no children; and the third likewise; 22 and so all seven [married her and died, and] left no children. Last of all the woman died also. 23 In the resurrection, whose wife will she be? For all seven [brothers] were married to her.” 24 Jesus said to them, “Is this not why you are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures [that teach the resurrection] nor the power of God [who is able to raise the dead]? 25 For when they rise from the dead, they do not marry nor are they given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. 26 But concerning the raising of the dead, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the burning bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?(C) 27 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living; you are greatly mistaken and you are deceiving yourselves!”

28 Then one of the scribes [an expert in Mosaic Law] came up and listened to them arguing [with one another], and noticing that Jesus answered them well, asked Him, “Which commandment is first and most important of all?”(D) 29 Jesus answered, “The first and most important one is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord; 30 and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul (life), and with all your mind (thought, understanding), and with all your strength.’(E) 31 This is the second: ‘You shall [unselfishly] [b]love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”(F) 32 The scribe said to Him, “Admirably answered, Teacher; You truthfully stated that He is One, and there is no other but Him; 33 and to love Him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to [unselfishly] love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”(G) 34 When Jesus saw that he answered thoughtfully and intelligently, He said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And after that, no one would dare to ask Him any more questions.

35 Jesus began to say, as He taught in [a portico or court of] the temple, “[c]How can the scribes say that the Christ is the son of David?(H) 36 David himself said [when inspired] by the Holy Spirit,

‘The Lord (the Father) said to my Lord (the Son, the Messiah),
“Sit at My right hand,
Until I put Your enemies under Your feet.”’(I)

37 David himself calls Him (the Son, the Messiah) ‘Lord’; so how can it be that He is [d]David’s Son?” The large crowd enjoyed hearing Jesus and listened to Him with delight.

Mark 12:31 The key to understanding this and other statements about love is to know that this love (the Greek word agape) is not so much a matter of emotion as it is of doing things for the benefit of another person, that is, having an unselfish concern for another and a willingness to seek the best for another.
  3. Mark 12:35 It is no coincidence that Jesus raises this question after His preceding discussion with the lawyer/scribe. Matthew (22:35) notes that the lawyer had questioned Jesus to test Him. His goal was to extract from Jesus the admission that there is only one God (see v 32), and eventually to use that admission against Him when He claimed to be the Son of God and therefore God Himself. In reality, Jesus had admitted nothing that posed a problem for the concept of one God existing as three distinct Persons, and He drew attention to this fact by raising the issue of David’s relationship to the Messiah.

The Beauty and Glory of Zion.

A Song; a Psalm of the sons of Korah.

48 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,
In the city of our God, His holy mountain.

Fair and beautiful in elevation, the joy of all the earth,
Is Mount Zion [the City of David] in the far north,
The city of the great King.(A)

God, in her palaces,
Has made Himself known as a stronghold.

4 
For, lo, the kings assembled themselves,
They [came and] passed by together.
5 
They saw it, then they were amazed;
They were stricken with terror, they fled in alarm.
6 
Panic seized them there,
And pain, as that of a woman in childbirth.
7 
With the east wind
You shattered the ships of Tarshish.
8 
As we have heard, so have we seen
In the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God:
God will establish her forever. Selah.

9 
We have thought of Your lovingkindness, O God,
In the midst of Your temple.

As is Your name, O God,
