Leviticus 22:17-23:44, Mark 9:30-10:12, Psalms 44:1-8, Proverbs 10:19

Today is the 28th day of February welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian It’s great to be here with you today. You know what this is? The last day of the second month of our journey. So, we are…we are out in the deep, and we will continue to sail across the year, but we’re two months in, and that is amazing. Well done. If you’ve made it this far, you’re probably gonna make it and what a joy it’s gonna be to uncover all of the different landmarks that we get to see along the way. So, let’s dive in and take the next step forward. We’re reading from the Evangelical Heritage Version this week and picking up in the book of Leviticus. Today chapter 22 verse 17 through 23 verse 44.

Commentary:

Alright. A couple of things for us to consider today. Let’s start in the gospel of Mark. We encountered a story that we saw also in the Gospel of Matthew and that was, “who’s the greatest?” Like the disciples are walking along and “who is the greatest?” And in the gospel of Mark, they’re kind of debating among themselves who’s the greatest. And let’s face it, we think about these kinds of things in our modern culture and era. Who’s the greatest? And it’s something that we are kind of pushed to aspire, to be the best that we can be and maybe that could be the greatest. And although by our cultural standards that may be true that does not seem to be the criteria of the kingdom of heaven. So, Jesus answers the question and let’s let it be the answer. “If anyone” …and I’m quoting Jesus…if anyone wants to be first, you will be the last of all, and the servant of all.” And we could interpret that a couple of ways. We could say the person that wants to be the greatest, the first is the person who humbles themselves and becomes the servant of his brothers and sisters around him. A humble posture willing to serve and help in any way possible. That would be a posture that was represented and demonstrated by Jesus. We could also look at it and say if anyone wants to be first, he will be the last of all and the servant of all. In other words, if your aspiration and your goal is to drive yourself into first above all, so that you are looking down upon others, well then where that ends up is that you will be humbled, right? And, so, we get the idea here that we can humble ourselves, or we can be humbled, and it won’t be the last time that we…we touch on this. And then Jesus after saying that, He brings some children near Him and says, “whoever welcomes one of these little children in My name welcomes Me, and whoever welcomes Me welcomes not just Me but also Him who sent Me.” And, so, again we saw this in the Gospel of Matthew. It’s important for us to understand that faith requires trust. And the picture, the example used for us is the way that a child trusts. And that is really a wonder. I mean, those of you that are parents and have raised children it really is a wonder. And it’s a really really hard to thing actually to begin to teach your children that not everybody can be trusted, and that this world has challenges and…and see them interacting and begin…beginning to learn these things. It’s really profound. Yes, they need to know these things to exist in this world, but it’s so backward to the way things are supposed to be. So, think of your own childhood. Some of you have done really big deep dives with years of therapy and some of you have…rarely really think about it…it’s in the past, but it formed us, and we came into this world with trust and somewhere along the line, whether very early or later on in our childhood we began to understand that not everybody’s trustworthy. And when we look back at it, we know something was lost along the way. Like, can you imagine if we didn’t have those kinds of traumas in our lives? If trusting was the normal way of things not taking things suspiciously, but actually everything is trustworthy? Everything is true? Everyone is true? That would be like the kingdom. And, so, we are given this example to remind ourselves that as we walk this faith journey, we must trust God like a little child.

And then lastly, let’s move the Proverbs because…well…so often there’s a sentence which is the case today, a sentence that says an awful lot and it’s an awful lot that’s said at a good time. This being the last day of the second month we’re about to turn the page move into a brand-new month in a brand-new reset and these words can carry us through. “When there are many words, sin never stops, but a person who restrains his lips acts wisely.” And we’ve doing what we can to make wisdom a category as we seek from the Scriptures the truths that we need for our lives. These words that we read here from Proverbs are such truths that we need for our lives, and it really applies because we are in a culture now, especially the era, the age of social media where it seems that everybody needs to share words on what they think about every single possible thing that happens in their lives all of the time out without stop. It’s constant. But maybe what wisdom is telling us is to restrain our lips, seek wisdom, and say what needs to be said and love and respect, reflecting the master.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for the counsel and instruction. We thank You for the examples that we can carry with us into the new month, and we must trust in You as a little child would. If we want to be great, we need to learn how to be a servant and humble. And if we want to veer away from things that are not wise and away from sin, then we need to pay attention to what’s coming out of our mouth. Very very valuable insight and wisdom planted in our lives today. And, so, Holy Spirit come into all of this as we move forward and allow these things to stick with us. Bring them up when we’re about to take and make a misstep. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hello everybody my name is Sean from London England in the UK. I guess I’m reaching out today to ask for prayer surrounding my drinking habits. I’m not dependent as such but I can’t seem to stop bingeing on alcohol which can lead to me walking the streets and trying to get hold of drugs. Like last night I had a drink and thought I could control it. So, I kept drinking and lo and behold I ended up walking around the streets looking for drugs asking homeless people for drugs and at the same time drawing them into situations. I…I just can’t seem to find the strength to sort myself out. It’s very frustrating that I listen to the Daily Audio Bible every day, I attend my local church. And I know I must draw on the power of the Lord and His strength because my strength is not enough, but it seems like I know all the right answers, yet I don’t do what needs to be done. Just as it says in the Bible, why do I do the things that I don’t want to do, and I don’t do the things that I want to do. I can be a great person, you know, I’ve got so many great things going for me, but I guess I’m just feeling sorry for myself. It’s the old adage of poor me poor me pour me a drink. Anyway, I do listen every day and I do pray for people. I always listen to the prayers at the end. And yeah, I’ve taken a step today to reach out and ask for prayer, so I know prayer is very powerful. Anyway. Thank you, Brian. Thank you, China. Thank you, Jill. Ezekiel and yeah God bless you all appeared all the best. This is Sean from London UK. Goodbye.

Hi everyone, it’s Armand from Spain first time recording. First of all, I wanted to thank Brian and all his team for this amazing job. And I have been listening to Daily Audio Bible since one year ago more or less. I’ve been listening almost every day. I would like to pray to Jesus Christ to give us encouragement and patience to be able to live in this very godless world in a godly way. That’s something that I’ve been struggling with everyday waking up going to school teaching and seeing what we have around us. And itt is a big struggle. When you have in your mind the responsibility and the faith to live to walk in God’s way in the path that Jesus Christ has chosen for us while at the same time you have to face everything that you see around you. So, yeah. I would like to pray for that, especially when you have kids, that’s when you start to really take all of this very seriously. And I’m quite disturbed for the future of my kids. They are still very little. They’re just babies but yeah, I’m praying for…for godly future. Although everything I'm…I’m quite pessimissing…pessimistic right now regarding the world. But let’s pray for that. And yeah, thank you for…for this great community. Bye.

Hi Daily Audio Bible this is Alena from Delray Beach Jesus Worshipper originally from Ukraine. So, with all of those things happening I just wanted to ask for you to join me in prayer for my home country and for the people of Ukraine and also for the people of Russia and for my heart being healed. Heavenly Father just like Hezekiah Lord I pray that our president and all the authorities are going to pray to You and our president is actually God’s chosen. He’s also from the Jewish people. Lord I pray that You will stir up their heart and they…they gonna see like You see and they’re gonna humiliate themselves to the point of just relying toward You. We don’t have the army, we don’t have anything Lord. We don’t have anything comparing to like Assyria…Russia right now is acting toward us like Assyria did. They just came over and took over our land. So, Lord I just pray the country of Ukraine is going to be so humble that all they’re gonna rely on is You, they gonna understand where they help comes from. I don’t pray for peace Lord I pray for more Ukrainian and more Russian people are going to be saved. I know that Satan wanted to use it for evil but You’re gonna use it for good. And I pray Lord that Your will be done in Ukraine and in Russia. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

High DAB family this is Joy Bubble calling to encourage Jimmy who called in. I heard what you had to say today and I just wanted to tell you that I hear you and I know what it feels like to be in a season where you feel lonely and disconnected from your faith community and not knowing what God has next. But I just wanted to encourage you to persevere because God knows the desires of your heart. He knows you inside and out and He’s a good Father who won’t give you a stone when you ask Him for bread. And I wanted to encourage you to draw…to continue to draw near to Him and continue to fellowship and even reach out to other people and…and initiate that fellowship and draw near to God because He promises in his word that He will draw near to you. In Hebrews 10:36 it says for you have need of endurance so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised for yet a little while and the coming one will come and will not delay but my righteous one shall live by faith and if he shrinks back my soul has no pressure in him. But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed but of those who have faith and preserve their souls. So, I wanted to encourage you don’t shrink back. Persevere. God loves you and He sees you and we’re all here praying for you and reading for you, and He will be faithful to you because He is always faithful and He’s always been faithful before and He’ll be faithful again. So, I just want to pray for you. Lord I pray for Jimmy. I pray that You’ll give him Your joy in his heart and Your purpose and that You will help him press forth and be bold and that You will give him faith to fight back and persevere in Your name…

Hello, Global Campfire this is Miss Andra Southwest Florida. This prayer is for Jimmy on the East Coast. Father God, we praise You and we glorify You and we give You all thanks and glory, honor, and we lift up Jimmy from the East Coast to You. He is in a dry dry place. He feels down and out, and he feels emotionally dry and spiritually dry. And it just seems he can’t get out of it. So, Father God we lift him up to You. We ask Father God that You remove everything that is not of You, everything that sets itself against You Father God we ask that You get rid of it and we place it with Your joy, Your mercy, Your comfort, Your peace. And God I pray that You’d give him the desires of his heart, that You would give him heart for You Lord God, heart that just cannot get enough of Your word and Your song and Your mercy. And Lord God I pray that Jimmy’s angels would surround him to encourage him. And Father God I pray that You would send messengers to him that would encourage him, people who are like minded. And Lord God I pray that You would open the doors for him. So, for him to find his purpose, seek his purpose. And Lord I pray that You would use him in a mighty way as he’s going through this tough turmoil. We know that it’s going through these hard times is when we find…we find You even closer Lord God, we find the answers. So, I pray that You would open his eyes and his ears and that he would seek You and reach out to others and help them as he’s going through this. Bless him and give him peace and grace and mercy in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Leviticus 20:22-22:16, Mark 9:1-29, Psalm 43:1-5, Proverbs 10:18

Today is the 27th day of February, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian, it is wonderful to be here with you around the Global Campfire today as we step into a brand-new week, reminding ourselves, we may have made every conceivable misstep last week and maybe there’s some holdovers from that but this is a new week and we can decide how we’re going to live it. And so, let’s remind ourselves wisdom is a category, wisdom is available, let’s seek it and let’s seek the next step forward in the Scriptures. So, we got a brand-new week here, we’ll read from the Evangelical Heritage Version this week and pick up where we left off moving our way through the book of Leviticus and the giving of the law today. Leviticus chapter 20 verse 22 through 22 verse 16.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word, we thank You for this brand-new, shiny, sparkly, week that we are entering into. We we’re talking about wisdom at the beginning today, and here it is, whoever conceals hatred has lying lips and whoever spreads gossip is a fool, may we carry that with us into this week as a signpost, this is the way, don’t go that way, go this way, this is the way of wisdom. Which means we will not conceal hatred and be a liar and will not spread gossip and be a fool. Come, Holy Spirit into this and help us, help us catch ourselves, when we are moving into those directions. We pray in the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Morning DAB, I would like to pray for a young man named Hasan. He is in Texas. He’s been in the hospital for a month, I know his mom and that’s longer story. But his mom and I were both delivered from crack cocaine addiction, 16, 10 years ago. She is trusting in God, her faith. She lost one son which brought her home. Please Lord, have mercy, breath Your breath of life in Hasan. He’s on a respirator, I don’t know if he’s off but his name is Hasan, Daily Audio Bible family, please lift him up. Lord, Your word says that Your son came to destroy the works of Satan. Satan tempted and doubted that You were good in the garden, which brought on our rebellion, which brought on the fall of all mankind, which brought on sin and disease and all the brokenness, we see in the world today. You have conquered the world and sin and the thought of sin. Thank You Jesus. Thank You for calling us out from the darkness with your marvelous light, we love You, we worship You and I’m, we’re all trusting You with Hasan’s life, breath the life, the breath. He’s not yours, make him a new creation in Christ Jesus. In Jesus name. Amen.

This is Kathy from Kentucky. I would like ya’ll to celebrate with me. I’m 30 years clean and sober today, February 23rd. And I appreciate everyone who prayed for me. Also, I think the man’s name who was, who was BW, who prayed for me and I wanted to thank him for that. So, this, thank you for your prayers. I got through Uncle Tim’s funeral. I’m okay but now my Aunt Helen is not doing well. I just texted my cousin and she, I said I can’t come till Sunday to see her and she said I’m not sure she’s gonna be here by Sunday. So, anyways, thank you for your prayers, continue to pray for me, Uncle Tim’s family and Aunt Helen’s family.

Good morning DAB family this is Simone from Houston. And I was just having my quiet, private time with God and felt led to share with everyone. I haven’t spoken publicly about my life and the things that I’ve endured but you know, I’m not ashamed of it either because I believe like the Word says, we overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimonies. So, our testimonies are pivotal because it’s through our testimonies that others can see and experience God and understand how amazing He is. I have been fighting depression all of my life, since about 10 years old. And I am 45, about to be 46 years old. Not even, ten years ago, I attempted suicide and through therapy, finding an amazing therapist, who’s also a preacher and a pastor and really getting, having a relationship, an intimate relationship with God, I’ve been able to overcome depression and be victorious. So, I want to encourage everyone and just know we have to put on the full armor of God to guard, to have God guard our minds, our hearts, our spirit, what comes into our ears, our eyes, our gates and most importantly what comes out of our mouths. So, I just want to encourage everyone on today and just know I am praying for each and every one of you and we’ve got you and God’s got you. And I just love ya’ll so much, this community is amazing. Be …

Hi, this is Tony from Germany. I hope everyone is doing okay. Yeah, keeping the faith. I wanted to just leave a message that for Brian today, what you offered regarding the fungus, that you know how it can be like thoughts that are external and then become internal and cause harm, right. To our minds, the way we’re looking at things and to our body and to others. And that was important for me. You were talking about in association where someone has wronged you and I’ve had something pretty, wow, horrible happen. A wrong but this is what I wanted to say is you know, when people do wrong it’s usually because of things that have happened in their past and they have areas of that need healing. And sometimes they react and sometimes they intentionally do wrong. And we, I guess I think of what the Lord said on the cross, forgive them Lord, they know not what they do. And so, my thing is, our thing is just to do as the Lord would have us you know, in a way that we can honor the Lord and feel good about the way we handle things. Anyways, I typically support the DAB in different ways but I did make another contribution today because I wanna, I wanna feed the, feed it.

Leviticus 19:1-20:21, Mark 8:11-38, Psalms 42:1-11, Proverbs 10:17

Today is the 26th day of February welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it is a great to be here with you today as we bring another week to its close. And we’ll do that by taking the next step forward. And, so, let’s do that. We are working our way through the book of Leviticus. We’ve been reading from the Christian Standard Bible this week. Today, Leviticus chapter 19 verse 1 through 20 verse 21.

Prayer:

Father, we thank you for your word. We thank you for another week to spend together in your word. We thank you for the rhythm that we’ve established together to come around the Global Campfire every day and hear from your word and invite your Holy Spirit to plant the scriptures into our lives, something that we need more than ever, it seems. And in our lifetimes it is more than ever we need is to seep into our lives and be rooted and planted in us that we might truly be transformed, that we do not look in the mirror at the end of this year and see the same person, that we see a person that is a full year into transformation and actively participating in that and actively seeking to collaborate with you in your work in this world, that we really may be your hands and feet doing your bidding and loving it because it’s free. It’s freeing. Its freedom. So, com Holy Spirit we pray and seal what we’ve read this week into our hearts we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Leviticus 16:29-18:30, Mark 7:24-8:10, Psalm 41:1-13, Proverb 10:15-16

Today is the 25th day of February, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian, it is great to be here with you today as we do what we do and take the next step forward together and that will lead us back into the book of Leviticus where we are learning the laws that will establish this people, the children of Israel, who have recently, relatively recently been delivered from slavery in Egypt. We’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible this week, Leviticus chapter 16 verse 29 through 18 verse 30 today.

Commentary:

Okay, so in the gospel of Mark today, Jesus heals a deaf man and we’ve already gone through the gospel of Matthew so, we know that Jesus does this kind of stuff everywhere that He goes and people are flocking to him because He does this kind of stuff. One interesting feature though of the miracles of Jesus, and if I have my numbers right there are 37 miracles of Jesus accounted for in the Gospels and then the gospel of John tells us, basically, Jesus did a bunch of other stuff too, if everything could be written down it would take all the books in the world. So, it’s not a secret that Jesus was considered to be a miracle worker, what is kind of interesting is what He does and He did it today when he healed the deaf man. He took the man aside, away from crowd privately, a couple of strange things like putting His fingers in his years and spitting and touching it to His tongue and the man gets healed and Jesus tells him essentially, don’t tell anybody about this, keep this quiet and He does this repeatedly, often. So, from…from a practical perspective, the more that the news travels about a miracle worker right, the more crowds probably will come. And we could think, well Jesus doesn’t want the crowds but the crowds are already upon Jesus. So, what else could be going on here, certainly the crowds and Jesus having to retreat and all of these kinds of like he can’t even find a place of eat. This information is in the Gospels, but what else could be going on here? Is that that Jesus didn’t want to be known as the miracle worker, like that wasn’t the calling card, He didn’t want the label because His ministry was far more comprehensive than simply restoration and healing but once the labels go on, it’s hard to get them back off, even in this day and age and it was certainly that way at that time as well. People are people. Or maybe it’s just really simple, Jesus was about the work that He said He came to do to heal the brokenhearted and set the captives free and in every way, He is about this work and by our standards we would judge it miraculous. Well let’s pause here for a second and go all the way back to our first day together when we read Genesis chapter 1 and then by day two, we’re at Genesis chapter 3 and things start falling apart, but we have a minute to see things as they were created to be. We get to see Adam and Eve before the fall or what we know of as the fall, we see them before sin becomes a category in the human story. If we can begin to understand that no human walked the earth, after that sinless until Jesus came and then all the sudden His entire life, not just His death, His entire life becomes supremely important to us because it’s the first time that we can actually look at a human being without sin, inside a sinful world, were given an example of what humanity is supposed to look like, how it was created to be with intimate fellowship with the Father and no sin. And if that’s true then we are watching Jesus move about the earth doing what is completely normal to Him, healing the broken hearted and setting the captives free, restoring humanity, mending humanity, with every touch, with every word. And then the Scriptures go on to tell us that it is Jesus, we are to imitate, it is Jesus that we are to be like. We have a term for this: Christlike, we say it all the time. Christlike, which really doesn’t seem to be meant as an aspiration, like a goal of the things that were just trying to do but can’t do. It seems like we’re supposed to be part of the body of Christ in this world, it seems like were supposed to be the hands and feet of Jesus in this world, we often wish for a moment with Jesus with skin on, but when we look at one another, that’s what we’re supposed to be seeing or as the apostle Paul would put it is no longer I who live, it is Christ who dwells within me or the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you. This is the process on this faith journey known as sanctification, redemption, restoration, being set apart and made holy to God, like Jesus, joint heirs the Bible tells us. Joint heirs with Jesus in this kingdom, that is … we’re gonna have to talk about that more when we get into the sum of the letters in the New Testament, but that is mind boggling stuff to think about, joint heirs with Jesus. What Jesus gets, we get. That is crazy because we don’t deserve anything but when we realize we don’t deserve anything but have been given everything. Well, we can say yeah of course, I deserve this and we can get arrogant and we can become the human side of darkness. Or we can realize I don’t deserve to be here at all. And when we have emptied ourselves of all of our rights, and all of our wrongs and all of our offenses and all of the things that are holding us back like chains, when we realize, Jesus has come to set us free from these things and that we have been given permission to be Christlike in this world, well then, we need a model for what that looks like and that is what we find when we look at the ministry of Jesus. So, back to the miracles and Jesus is moving around the countryside and restoring people and some of them are receiving healing and miraculous ways, we need to wonder if that’s what’s supposed to be no normal. When we look at Jesus and stop looking at Him as the superhero but look at him as God made flesh, revealing what humanity was intended to be and look like and operate like, that is a game changer because then we immediately realize it’s not that way. In fact, it’s almost backward. Then we realize how far we have fallen, and how much we have normalized, how less we are living, than what seems to be offered to us. And so, yes, we rejoice in the miracles of Jesus, but they should serve as reminders of what a normal human being without sin, created in the image of God looks like, like Jesus, which is what we’re supposed to look like.

Prayer:

And so, Father, we invite You into that. Plenty to think about, we always have things to think about some days, we have things to wrestle with, some things we have some deep digging to do, some days You bring words of comfort and inspiration and solace and we thank You because You give us what we need as we need it and we are grateful. So, we’re still at the beginning of the year and as we contemplate what our total freedom might look like, what holiness might look like for us, we begin to realize that we can’t live on both sides of the fence. Our freedom requires that we surrender completely to You. And then all things become possible because it’s not just our wants and needs and desires and for You to dig us back out of holes that we’ve dug. Or that You give us a raise or You give us a better job, these things may be important but when we realize what we have been given and things become rewired in our own minds, we are flooded with gratefulness. It is, it is beyond our capacity to truly imagine what it would be like to be totally and completely free, with nothing tethering us and completely surrendered and open to You for Your work in this world and we ask for divine imagination, that we can imagine ourselves like this because this is what the process is supposed to be doing in us day-by-day, step-by-step, over time, we are being perfected, we are being made holy. May we never stand in the way of that. That would be standing in the way of our freedom. Come, Holy Spirit into all of this we ask, in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Leviticus 15:1-16:28, Mark 7:1-23, Psalms 40:11-17, Proverbs 10:13-14

Today is the 24th day of February welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is great to be here with you today as we come in and gather around the Global Campfire and leave all of the cares of this life at the door. And we and come into this place knowing that that stuff, that stuff is still gonna be there and we can go right back and pick it up and get about our day. But this is a safe place for us for our souls We’ve come here for such simple reasons, to gather in community so that we know that were not alone during the trials of this faith journey and so that every day we can be refreshed, reoriented and instructed by the Scriptures which makes this a place to exhale. And so often what the Scriptures speak to us gives it gives us a different context or perspective about those things that we left at the door. We can go back to them and see them differently and address them differently maybe without all the anxiety, maybe without all of the nervousness. So, it is great to be here with you today around the Global Campfire to take the next step forward. We’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible this week. We’re working our way in the book of Leviticus are learning about clean and unclean. Leviticus chapter 15 verse 1 through 16 verse 28.

Commentary:

Okay. So, in the book of Leviticus we are learning about what is clean and what is unclean and we were able to do that today with a couple of our favorite things to talk about - semen and menstruation. And, so, every time we go through this in the Bible I’m like why can’t there be more of this in the Bible? This is awesome! But we have to talk about what’s in the Bible and we understand biologically about bio hazards. We can understand because of the other examples that we’ve had during this process that there are really practical reasons for clean and unclean in a camp of a million people that have no antibiotics, have no cough medicine, have no Band-Aids for that matter. But interestingly enough, when we flipped the page into the gospel of Mark what did we hear? So, the Pharisees and the scribes asked him why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating bread with ceremonially unclean hands. And this becomes really really interesting because Jesus was certainly a popular rabbi. People were as we see in the Gospels flocking to him. He’s also being checked out by the religious authorities and they’re asking questions. And so many of their questions about are about why He is breaking the rules and who gave Him authority to do such things. So, let’s go back to Leviticus for second. We’ve been talking about these laws. We’ve been talking about how they have practical human value, especially in a camp like that but that most of these things are still things that we may do them completely differently, but they still can’t be left unclean. They’re going to cause really, really big problems. And we’ve noticed that God has brought His children out of slavery into the wilderness where they have nowhere to run and nowhere to go. They have to learn to depend completely on Him. And this law that is being given, these are the rules. This is what you abide by and this is what you do if you step out of line. This is how you become purified again. But it’s not only external behaviors. All of the external behaviors have correlations, are tied to spiritual truths and realities. What’s being baked in here is a way that this culture is constantly pointed to who they are and where they came from and who God is. Everything about their culture points them in this direction. And, so, everything that they do points them in this direction in one way or another. When we zoom forward a couple of thousand years and we land in the first century at the time of Jesus the rules still exists and people are trying to follow the rules. But over the couple of thousand of years that happened some shifts have taken place. They have begun to think that if they could obey the rules externally, simply just obey the rules they would become righteous. And although that may be true nobody could. But they had sort of lost the plot. The rules existed without the spirit of why they existed. And, so, in the gospel of Mark today Jesus quotes the prophet Isaiah. “This people honors me with their lips”, right? “They say the right things, but their heart is far from me.” And then He goes on to say, “it’s not what you put in your body it is what is coming out of your heart that the files you.” And, so, what begin to see is that things had gotten really backward. A clean heart from within, a profound reverence and awe and love for God from within compels a person to fall in alignment with the expectations of the one that we love. We can understand this in marriage. We make all kinds of mistakes in marriage, but we really go back to the marriage license and try to figure out what we did wrong or what he or she did wrong, many of the rules if we want to call the rules of marriage are bound by love from our heart for the one that we have given ourselves to. And again, we make all kinds of mistakes. There are all kinds of seasons when you’re trying to spend your life together with somebody. But it’s love that would compel us to be loyal. It’s love that would compel us to be faithful. It’s love that would compel us to be self-sacrificing. It’s love that would teach us about compromise. It’s love that binds the whole thing together. The relationship isn’t just about what we do with each other physically, right? Like that’s external. But these things come from what is within us. And, so, the law without the spirit of the law, the reason, the orientation is just page full of rules. Maybe good rules. But when things get twisted to be controlling and not to compel a person from within to love God then things get really backward. They were backward in Jesus time. We can still find that in the world today. What Jesus said to the religious leaders of His time, “abandoning the command of God, you hold on to human tradition. You have a fine way of invalidating God’s command in order to set up your tradition.” And, so, if we’re trying to grit our teeth and all obey God by obeying God’s rules as we understand them then we have to realize that we’re missing the energy or the spark that can allow us to obey at all. And that comes from within, the outpouring of our absolute love for God, our trust in God and our understanding that He is given us some guardrails because He wants us to live free. And when we step outside of those guardrails we are heading toward enslaving ourselves in some way. What God wants is for us to be free and true and who we are and in love with Him as He is in love with us. And so, that gives us some things to think about today as we continue to think about what is clean and what is unclean within us.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit come into that. We can feel a lift in our souls when we speak about freedom, that there is nothing between us and anyone else. Like the offenses that we’ve carried around our whole lives and kept in the basement that’s been cleaned out. We’ve begun to learn to forgive and we’ve begun to learn to release and we’ve become…we’ve begun to look to You for all things, our only hope this changes the way that we do everything. And, so, You have invited us into a dance rather than into a prison cell. Help us to realize that. Help us to realize that when we follow You, even if that means that we have to have the self-discipline to avoid something that will hurt us we are following the path to freedom, to living as we were created to be. So, come Holy Spirit into this. And we pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Leviticus 14:1-57, Mark 6:30-56, Psalm 40:1-10, Proverbs 10:11-12

Today, is the 23rd day of February, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian, it’s great to be here with you here today around the Global Campfire as we gather and take the next step forward. Which leads us back to where we left off and that is in the Book of Leviticus where the law is being given and we’re learning about clean and unclean. And so, let’s dive in today, Leviticus 14.

Commentary:

Okay so, in the book of Leviticus as we said a few minutes ago, we’re learning about what is clean and what is unclean. And so yesterday, skin…skin diseases, open sores, that sort of thing boils, also fabric and mildew. And then today, we talked about mildew are like mold inside of a dwelling. And once again, we can read these things, think about these things in terms of how many thousands of years old they are, we can even think why is this in the Bible and what is it matter but these things that we are talking about right now, clean and unclean, we still pay attention to all of these things, we just do it differently. So, if mold is in your house, that’s a problem. And depending on what kind of mold it is, it’s a big problem. And if it’s a really, really bad kind of mold and it’s a really, really bad infestation and it’s spreading then it could and probably will affect the health and well-being of the people inside the home. And so, there’s all kinds of things we do to eradicate that but there are situations where that can’t happen and it has to get torn down, sort of like what was being talked about from thousands of years ago in the book of Leviticus today. But as I have been saying as we, we see the wall revealed we begin to understand that everything that they do, everything that they are required to do in their daily lives, roots them to spiritual truths and implications that ultimately remind them who God is, where they came from and who they are. And so, like yesterday, we’re talking about rash or an open sore where the sore has split the skin and so, there’s like raw flesh that appears and we talked about that being biohazard even today, like if there’s, certain correlations that are very relevant even today. One of the things that the priest was supposed to do when observing a skin rash or a sore or something like that was to determine whether or not it was more than skin deep. Like is this something on the surface of the skin or is this going down into the flesh and it’s below the skin, it’s more than skin deep, two different things, two different problems. If it’s gotten below the skin, if it’s more than skin deep it can be very, very serious, a very serious problem for that person. But also, something that they may be able to transmit throughout the camp that could cause devastation to everybody. So, if we think about this, though with a spiritual connection it's…it’s amazing how relevant this is because we are encountering interactions, thoughts, words and deeds, all day, every day, while we are consciously awake. We are continually interacting in some way and something can catch us. So, let’s just imagine, I don’t know, a coworker says something to you, you take it the right way or the wrong way, either way, you are offended by. So, now it’s on the surface of your skin. And if you let that kind of linger in your mind, you chew on and you start having imaginary conversations then it’s beginning to spread and you begin to notice that your morale is plummeting and your energy is affected and you are pouring so much energy into this offense that it is drawing energy from the good things in your life. It’s a problem. And you realize that it’s a problem but if you go on right, if you get consumed with this, it’s making you lose sleep, you are burning up the phones with all of your friends telling about this offense, maybe you’re even posting nasty things on social media, etc. etc. There comes a time where you’re gonna get sick with this thing, it’s going to really affect other relationships in your lives. It is getting to be more than skin deep and that can be serious and that can infect everyone around you. So, you see the Bible can become a mirror so quickly or our dwelling with mold in it, we can’t just leave it alone, it will only get worse. So, think about the places where mold grows right, it’s that dark wet, dank, untouched places where these things can thrive. So, think about your heart, think about the basement of your heart where a lot of these offenses have been stored, a lot of the wounds in life have been shoved, it’s not organized down there, it’s kind of a mess, we kind of don’t go down there unless we have to and when we do we think, I got a clean this out and we make a resolution but we don’t. And so, it just stays dark and dank down there and things can start growing and if we catch them, they can be made clean again. But if we leave them it’s gonna pull the whole thing down on top of our heads. Above all of this though, is what we’re learning, the distinction between what is clean and what is unclean. And we can see that it matters, it matters in the society that is being formed practically so, that people don’t die by catching what each other has. But the implication spiritually, are so profound that we have to pay attention, clean and unclean, they still exist, we actually have intuition about what they are, we typically know when we are stepping into something that is unclean. We typically understand as nuanced as it might be, generally speaking, what we’re doing. So, if we have something that is getting more than skin deep and we let it, that will become a serious disease, whether in our heart, our soul or whether in our body. If we leave things just grow and dwelling the dank, dark places of our dwelling, it’s gonna be a problem spiritually just the same. The goal is to be clean, that is the offer like, that is what they’re being commanded to be, which means that’s possible. And all of these laws, like, if people will remain clean in this context, they don’t ever have to do any of the ritual of purification, they’re already clean. But when a person becomes unclean there are processes to go through that are ritual but that identify that this person has been made clean again, clean is the goal and so let’s open ourselves to the Holy Spirit, on these things.

Prayer:

What is getting more than skin deep, what is growing up the walls in the basement of our hearts. And Holy Spirit, we confess that although even as we’re talking about it, some things may have been identified that we realize, now I really do have to go down in the basement and clean it, I have to deal with this or I can’t just keep letting this thing fester, it’s getting more than skin deep, we may know some of those things but there may be other things that we are just shut off to, it is in a box at the bottom of the pile in the back of the basement and we need Your help because we want to be clean, we want to be true, we want to be free. So, come Holy Spirit and help us as we begin to do the excursion, as we begin to open ourselves to considering things that are nothing more than poison to us and don’t belong in our lives anymore. Come, Holy Spirit, we pray in the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Announcements:

dailyaudiobible.com that is home, that is home of the Global Campfire and that is where you go to find out what’s going on around here, as I say pretty much every day. The app is also a way to do that, if you don’t have the Daily Audio Bible app, you can download that for free wherever…wherever your app store is, whatever device is attached to an app store, you’ll find it there. So, just search for Daily Audio Bible. But check it out and while you’re at the web or on the app, check out the Community section, that is so important to know about. that’s were different links to the different social media channels were we participate are but that is also the home of the Prayer Wall and the Prayer Wall is a beautiful resource that is for us around the Global Campfire. We can always reach out no matter what time of day or night it is, we can reach out for prayer and that since we’re kind of a Global Campfire, we’re all over the world that means we’re also in every time zone, which means somebody’s always around praying or listening and it’s just a good thing to know and so we can reach out for prayer if it’s just becoming overwhelming, leave that prayer requests and when we wake up or we check next, it’ possible somebody’s already been there, praying for us. But it’s also the reverse like, the reverse is also very true. We can reach back in prayer, knowing how encouraging that is and pray for our brothers and sisters. Just kind of go through some pages and allow the Holy Spirit just to lead us to what to pray for and encourage some of our brothers and sisters that are going through things. We take turns, sometimes we’re getting crushed and we need our family, our spiritual family, to kind of come and shoulder some of the burden with us. And then at other times we’re strong and we can be the one doing some shouldering, knowing that together, together, we can be strong and so, check out the Prayer Wall. It’s in the Community section.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, thank you, we could not be here, we would not be here if we hadn’t been in this together and so thank you, profoundly and with deep gratitude for your partnership. Prayer and Encouragements:

Hey guys, my name is Mary and I live in the United States. I’m a nurse. Hey, this message is specifically for two people from the UK. I apologize, I’m terrible with names but both of your messages really spoke to my heart. First, I wanted to pray for the dad who is the father to Hannah, who is suffering with anorexia nervosa. And secondly, I wanted to pray for the beautiful woman who had to move and now she’s having to move again because somethings going on with her land lady and she’s just really suffering from a lot of depression and anxiety. I just wanted to offer encouragement. I have also suffered with all three of these things, depression, anxiety and anorexia and God has delivered me from all of these things. That’s not to say I don’t still struggle. Sometimes I…I hate eating all over again, it’s just a time when I get back on my knees and ask God for mercy and the same with anxiety and depression. But just know that I am lifting you up in prayer and the Lord is there for you through every trial and every…every circumstance. You know that He never forsakes you and that I am praying for you and interceding for both of you. Love you guys. Bye.

Recindos, Gracandos, Inuendos and drills
It’s like my brother this bird has two bills
So many praises, coming out of one mouth
I haven’t seen anything like this since I’ve been in the South
Human, animal or anything else
When I listen to this songbird all the worldliness just melts
Because His praises continue and he’s bold, God, for thee
I thank You, my Father, for eyes that can see
That all of creation gives glory and praise
To the source of all life, the ancient of days
Multi-active warbles are paused and achieved
A twittly, twittly dee, a chirped and a beep
Stigatto, Legatto, a dot and a dash
Melodious harmonics, slow and then fast
Tremelous, pianist and most,
Swartandos, retarts sweet
His repetware of music if full and complete
This birds little light seems to never grow dim
Help me, my Father, to be more like him
Praising You continuous, empty of me
Yet filled up completely with all that is Thee
Because my cup runneth over, let praise overflow
Reflecting Your goodness wherever I go
And that all men who see me, in me, my Father, see You
Let praise be the trademark of everything I do
And even in darkness be a light shining bright
Praising You Father, from morning till night
A bird unconcerned and truly at peace
Even though necessities and problems don’t cease
Storms still assailing, strong winds still blow
But Your love’s always there, Father, wherever I go
Because when the praises go up, then the blessings come down
So help me to remember to smile and not frown
Because Your love’s always with me and You show me everyday
I thank You for the songbird that You sent my way

Hi, DAB family, this is Tammy from the Adirondacks. I just got done listening to the February 19th podcast and I didn’t get your name sister but the lady that called in who’s dealing with anxiety and depression and fear of taking medication and has to move again. I get it, I get it, I understand it and just know that, just keep breathing scripture over yourself. Just keep, this too shall pass, Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever, just keep doing what you’re doing, sister. Because God will never leave us, He will never forsake us, He is with you, even when it doesn’t feel like He is, I know that feeling. You are not alone, you are so not alone. I understand and I pray that Jesus, we ask You Father to just come against this anxiety, to come against this depression, to come against the fear of medication Father, give her an answer. Give her an answer, Father God, to help her know whether to take the medication is what she should or shouldn’t do, Lord. And just come against this anxiety and depression, in Your might name, Jesus. Help her Father to fight this, this that she’s going through. You are our Protector, You are our Healer, You are our Strength, You are our Refuge, You are our Shield and all the glory and the honor and the majesty goes to You, Father God. So, I just lift our sister up to You, Father God and I ask You to just help her in the way that only You can, Father. We thank you Jesus, we give You the praise. Be encouraged my sister, you’re not alone, you’re so not alone. I’ve been where you are. Love you.

Hey everybody, this is John from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. I hope you’re doing well. It’s the 20th of February, it is a balmy 15 degrees here in Pennsylvania today. Bright and sunny, I think I’ll get the tanning oil out, probably not really. Family, this call is for Curious George from Georgia, it was great to hear your call George. And it’s also for anyone who’s interested in a resource that I find of tremendous, tremendous value. George, first of all, welcome, glad that you’re here, congratulations on your anniversary. I’ve been a listener since 2012. You’ve landed in a great space; this is an awesome community. You’ve joined a community of believers all over the world and you can already tell that you’re, you know, just really, really enjoying hearing so many different accents. You mentioned that you have a tough time remembering the names so, does everybody else, unless they’re writing them down. And that’s not possible sometimes while you’re listening to the program so, what we’ve got for you is this tremendous resource, The Daily Audio Bible transcripts. These are available both for the Daily Audio Bible and the Daily Audio Bible Chronological. And you can get to them at dailyaudiobible.tumblr.com. dailyaudiobible.t-u-m as in boy, not m as in boy, m as in Mary, b as in boy, l as in Larry, r as in Ralph.com. dailyaudiobible.tumblr.com and what you’ll get there is the daily transcripts. So, Brian’s opening, his commentary, if there’s commentary, his prayer, and then announcements and the best part of all George is that you got the prayer and praise – the community prayer and praise written down for you so, you can go back and look at those names and you can read what’s been spoken and you can reiterate those prayers. And pray them out loud yourself, as well. Listen, I love you family. George, I hope that’s helpful for you. People, I hope that’s helpful for you as well.

Hey, DAB family, this is Leeza calling from the West Coast. I wanted to pray over Julie from the UK and really anyone else who’s suffering from anxiety and depression, right now. I know it’s just such a beast to struggle with and I just wanted to pray for everyone who needs it right now. God, I just pray that You surround Julie and anyone who’s suffering from anxiety and depression. God, I just pray that You surround them with Your love. That you comfort them in those moments where it’s just hard to see the light. God, in those moments where it just seems like the walls are closing in. God, I pray that You push out any thoughts from the enemy of feeling unworthy or feeling hopeless or wondering what’s coming next. And I pray that You help them focus on You God to see Your love, to see how much You’ve protected them, to feel You’re comforting presence and to just feel thankful for one little thing, whether it’s the air in their lungs or the sun shining or the rain in England. God, I just pray that You show them just how much You love them and remind them just how much you’ve done in the past and that Your promises are something that You will fulfill. I pray that You shine a light into their lives on those moments, in those moments where it just seems like there is darkness everywhere and that You guide them to You. God, we love everyone who is calling in and not calling in and especially anyone who’s suffering from anxiety and depression right now. I’m thinking of all of you and I’m praying for each of you. I know how hard it is and I just, I hope that you remember that we are all thinking of you and praying for you. Bye all.

Today is the 22nd day of February welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is wonderful, it is a joy and a privilege to be around the Global Campfire with you today as we release the stresses and strains that life brings our way every day and slumps our shoulders like we’re carrying a burden that is simply too heavy and the burden is life and sometimes it feels that way. But we have this place, a little oasis in all of it to just rest, exhale and allow God to speak through His word, reprioritizing and reorient…reorienting us to God. And, so, I am grateful, deeply, deeply grateful to be here around the Global Campfire with you today as we take the next step forward. And that will lead us back to the book of Leviticus. We’re reading from the Christian Standard Bible this week. Leviticus chapter 13.

Commentary:

Okay, in the book of Leviticus today we talked about skin problems and fabric problems. And we again can go, that’s why I always have stopped my journey when I got to the book of Leviticus. I don’t know what’s going on here. But actually we kinda do. And we talked about this some yesterday. But there are practical and spiritual implications here. What we are moving through in the law is the distinction between what is clean and what is unclean. So, for example, in the case of an open sore on a person’s body in their skin below the skin, that could be an infectious problem or a biohazard in some sort of way. It’s an open, oozing sore. And, so, we may think, okay, you get out the first day care or you go to the doctor, you run to the hospital, whatever what is. These people don’t have any of those options. Those things don’t exist. They didn’t have a ministry of disease control or anything like that. In fact, what we notice in this culture is that the priest is central. His job is not only spiritual. There are practical things that the priest does and declaring clean and unclean is one of those things for the protection of all of the people. Infection or disease that can spread in a closed community out in the wilderness with nowhere to go could be devastating. It could cause the annihilation of the people. It would be hard for us to not grasp the significance or the importance of this knowing what we have been through in the world for the last couple of years with all of our fancy advanced technologies. And then we get to the fabric portion of the law. And again, there isn’t a ministry of agriculture or a ministry of textiles. Like, they don’t have any of this, but they have experienced mildew. We still deal with that today. We just have fast ways to deal with it. They didn’t. They had water. And, so, we can understand the practical implications of what’s going on here, but there’s something greater also happening. Yes, they need practical measures to deal with certain things that will establish a cohesive people where everybody is generally on the same page and knows what they’re supposed to do and what they’re not supposed to do, but in this culture, what is being kinda woven in is the fact that practical things for living life as a human being in a human body are important, but they have correlations to spiritual life. There is clean. There is unclean. Clean leads to holiness. Unclean leads to destruction. And, so, let’s keep that kind of in mind and before us as we continue this portion of the law in the coming days.

Prayer:

Father, we love You. We thank You. We thank You for the practical things that we see here and understand here, and we ask that Your Holy Spirit come and help us to connect the dots between practical and our spiritual journey and how similar things work. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Oh…journaling is a great way to do that. And, so, we have things to write with, things to write on. All the way to the Global Campfire candle that we worked hard on to get the scent just right so that it resembles a campfire and brings that aroma. Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi everyone, it’s Christy from Kentucky. I wanted to call today for a couple of reasons. My precious husband is sitting here in the hospital. And he has been having issues from a gallstone that passed into his bowel duct and it’s been giving him problems. His bilirubin has been high and has not come down. He had two scopes and his gall bladder removed and we sit here on day 6 waiting for those numbers to come down and other things to happen in his body that will clear us to go home. So, if you would please pray for my precious husband Tim. I also wanted to pray today for Val in Vegas. Sister, first of all happy belated birthday. I’m so sorry, so, so sorry that you are suffering from the symptoms of Covid. Lord, I'm…I’m asking You Jesus to breathe life, breathe Your breath of life into Val Father. Clear her lungs. And Father for all those who are suffering, my friend Carla who are all having issues with upper respiratory and with COVID. Father God having a hard time getting breath COPD, whatever it is Lord Jesus, I’m asking You to please breathe your breath of life father God into them. Give them a clear pathway to breathe in the precious name of Jesus. Alright everyone I love you guys. I pray each of you are having the most blessed and lovely day today.

Good morning God, just want to thank You so much and praise Your holy name for being so good, so kind so generous. Thank You for Your provision and protection and for making all things new again in our hearts as we listen to the word, as we invite the Holy Spirit to take over those things that we know we can’t do on our own. Father there are so many hurts, so many disappointments, so many frustrations, so many sorrows. God so many of us don’t have a clue of what to do but we want to know. And Father we know that You have our best interest in mind. So, as we wait for You to reveal the…the plan for our lives or the direction we’re supposed to go or how we’re supposed to show up in our relationships, as we wait for You to do that marvelous thing empowering us, strengthening us, giving us hope and courage to move forward into today You tell us that today Your mercies are new in the morning., Today if we hear Your voice we are to not harden our hearts but to allow Your Spirit and the sweet rain of Your Spirit to soften our hearts. So today dear Jesus take us, mold us, make us, shape us and may we be used to Your names honor and glory. Thank You so much for hearing this prayer dear God, for Your son Jesus, and for the baptism of Your Spirit. We love You. Amen.

Dear heavenly Father, dear Jesus it’s February 19th and I just heard the beautiful blessing prayer that Radiant Rachel left for all of her DAB family. It was so dear and especially since I believe she is currently in the hospital suffering under a serious condition. Father, please reach down and be with her. Surround her with your healing love and make her whole again. She is so precious to us. I know she’s precious us to You, but she is one of our sweet sisters. Please watch over her and heal her and bring her back to us. And Father I also heard a disturbing prayer about a conference of Satan…Satan worshippers in Phoenix. Father, my own grandson has been told that you don’t exist. Please, Father help us to save our children and our grandchildren and our brothers and sisters from this evil, evil influence. Give us the strength and the courage to renounce his evil ways in Your name when they come anywhere near to us. Thank You, Father. Forgive us for taking You for granted sometimes. We don’t deserve You but we love You and we want to be…

Hi, DABbers this is Emily in…of Emily and Jim, Emily in Cardiff and Jim and Texas. First, I want to thank the sister back in January or December who prayed for us. We are so grateful. We got to spend a beautiful two weeks together. In January I flew out there. And it was so wonderful and so hard to leave. So, please pray as we continue to put the spouse application together and that his project would…would complete and he’d get the spouse visa at about the same time so he can come back to me. We miss each other so much. But I really have wanted to pray over the past month or so for marriages where one person is praying for the restoration of the marriage and the other one has…has left. And in the midst of this we had some friends who are going through exactly through that. I want to remind you first of all that Jesus requires us to forgive, to repay evil with blessing, evil with good and cursing with blessing. And also that we here all lift up our shields of faith together to stand with you in a turtle formation against those fire darts of the enemy that may be coming for your spouse but are really lies from the devil. So, Lord God we lift up to You marriages. Lord we lift up to You the brothers and sisters who have called in and have asked us to pray for the restoration of their marriages. We pray Lord that Your Holy Spirit will teach them and give them divine strategies how to stand for their marriages. But together we lift up our shields of faith and we stand with them against the fiery darts of the enemy trying to destroy their marriage and we proclaim in the name of Jesus these marriages restored. We look forward to hearing the testimonies. Bless you guys. Love you.

Hello, my beautiful DAB family this is Asia from the city of angels and this one goes out to the woman who called on February 19th from the UK who is just in the grip of fear and anxiety over her current situation. She has to move houses and she’s just crippled with anxiety. And I heard the fear in her voice as she weeped. And, so, I am just coming to you to offer this word that I had just read fresh that morning before I heard your prayer. So, I’m going to read it from you. It’s from Joshua 1:9 and it says, “have I not commanded you be strong and of good courage. Do not be afraid nor be dismayed for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” And my sister, I just want you to write that down. Read it every day and commit your anxiety to the Lord. Put it in His hands. He will deliver you. My daughter also has anxiety and recently had a bad bout with it as well and we’ve talked it through, and we went through some scripture. And ultimately it is your choice whether you want to hand this over to God and ask Him to remove it from you and replace your fear with His faith and His hope. And I just give you all the encouragement that I can possibly muster in my heart and all my love sister. You can overcome this with God’s love and the faith in the Lord. So, please be encouraged today and know that I’m praying for you. Take care. God bless you.

Leviticus 11:1-12:8, Mark 5:21-43, Psalm 38:1-22, Proverbs 10:8-9

Today is the 21st day of February, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is wonderful to be here with you today as we gather, move forward together and the way that we move forward together is the same every day, we pick up where we left off the previous day. And so, that brings us back into the book of Leviticus where we are learning about the laws and rituals and customs and holidays and all of the things that will govern this brand-new people being formed in the wilderness, preparing them for the land of promise. So, today, Leviticus chapters 11 and 12.

Commentary:

Okay so, in the book of Leviticus as we’re moving through the giving of the law, we have begun to understand a concept: clean and unclean. And so, we went through clean animals, kind of like these animals you can eat, these you can’t, can’t even touch them. Or these kind of see living, water-dwelling creatures can be harvested and eaten, these cannot. These kinds of flying animals can be used for food, these cannot, they are unclean. And we can look and go, oh ish’t that quaint or isn’t that antiquated or isn’t that so ancient and irrelevant, but I would say well, you now, go head over to your local bookstore, walk into the diet and nutrition section and you will find that plenty of people still have plenty opinions about what is clean and unclean to eat. And then we moved to purification rights, like a woman who has a baby, that makes her unclean because of a flow of blood. And so, that is after childbirth but it is compared to the uncleanness that would come every month for a woman, the flow of blood is an unclean thing. We could take a step back and go well, that’s not fair but we have to remember because if we back read our culture into something that is thousands of years old, we run into problems. They didn’t have any way to dispose of biohazards and you can only imagine what an infection could do in a community that has nothing like an antibiotic. If you go to a doctor or a hospital today and are going to have blood drawn or you are bleeding, they’re going to be suited up to protect themselves from uncleanness, something that could make them unclean or eventually kill them. And then if it’s a male child, they are to take it for circumcision after eight days and then she will remain unclean or in a rehabilitative mode, like resting and recuperating from childbirth for 33 days. If she has a girl, then it’s 66 days for recovery. And we could be like why pick on, like why curse it so that it’s twice as long for the girls. What if it’s not a curse. What if she gets double the time to not have to observe rituals and observations and do all of the things were she’s able to kind of step back, check out for a minute and bond. But speaking of flowing blood and uncleanness, this was the law, and so if you’re bleeding and its ongoing than you are unclean until it stops.

We flip the page into the gospel of Mark and read a story that we encountered in the gospel of Matthew as well, Jesus is on his way to see about healing a synagogue leaders’ daughter, who is dying, when a woman with a flow of blood that had not stopped for 12 years, thought to herself if she could just touch Jesus clothes that she could be made well. So, by the law, as they had interpreted it and as they had carried it forward, this woman had been unclean every minute of every day for over a decade. And it wasn’t like she hadn’t done everything she could to get well. She had done everything she could and spent all that she had to get well and only was made worse and then she believes that she can be made well and touches Jesus clothes and is made well. While she touched Jesus, she touched him and made him unclean which could have been a pretty risky move, was a pretty risky move. And when Jesus stops and starts looking around and says who touched me, she's…she’s busted. But she comes and throws herself before Jesus and tells him the truth and his kindness just permeates the page, daughter go in peace, your faith has made you whole. It’s a beautiful picture of redemption itself. We, unclean with nothing we can possibly do about it, we can do everything in our own power and spend everything we have pursuing cleanness before God or holiness, righteousness, but we find that at the end of that we have no power and then we believe that Jesus can do it and he does. We the unclean, lawbreakers find wholeness and cleanness in Christ. It’s a beautiful picture of the gospel itself.

Prayer:

And so, Father, we thank You for that, we thank You for that example, we thank You that so often we can read of the formation of a thing and then move forward in time in the Scriptures and see what became of the thing and especially in the New Testament, in the Gospels, we see You, not only coming to rescue us, but to set things straight. So, help us listen, learn, understand and obey as we trust in You with all of our hearts. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer and Encouragements:

This message goes out to Val in Vegas. Ma’am, I pray that the rest of life will reenter your lungs and that you will be healed, in Jesus’ name. I sense a urgency of just joining you in prayer that your lungs will be healed, that your respiratory issues will be healed, that you will breathe once again. I just got over COVID, my wife just got over COVID and it’s a rough road but as long as you continue to believe in the Lord and have faith that He can heal you, I believe that He can heal you. I pray that you have success over this issue. We all have this issue and we need to deal with it. So, be strong, be strong in the faith continue to listen to the word. I pray blessings over your life. In Jesus name, amen.

Hey, this one is for Candace from Oregon. This is Micah. What you said about your son really struck a chord with me. First, obviously, because my name is Micah and then I had alcohol and drug issues all growing up. Like, from the time I was, I think I first got drunk at like age 12 and then steadily drinking and did drugs all through my youth until age 25, is when God got a hold me and I started feeling that I was doing sin. I started having a conscious, but it was really God showing me what I was doing. So, I began to pray. I began to run from the evil situations and when there’s different evil happening and I asked God to take me away from my group of friends so that I wouldn’t be tempted to drugs or alcohol. And he brought me way out to Liberty where my dad lives, just far enough to where my friends wouldn’t drive out that far, just that far. Like, if it was 10 minutes closer, my friends probably would have came but it was just a little too far. And I pray today that God put your son just a little too far out of the reach of the enemy, and that in my likeness of how he stopped my urges for drugs and alcohol, that He’ll do that for your son Micah. And that it would be victory for all the Micah’s. I love you sister and I know God can do it cause he did it for me. So, believe God, can do it for your son. Bye.

Hey DAB fam, it’s Laura in Eugene. Just sitting in the parking lot at this lovely elementary school where I’m gonna substitute teach for a really active, fun group of third graders. So, I could use your prayers today and tomorrow. I’m a retired teacher, I taught for 31 years here at this school and now I’m subbing here and there. They just really can’t get subs; school do need our prayers. I heard someone on the community prayer line I think, lifting up a beautiful prayer for teachers and children and everyone who works at schools. And I just will be praying that as well. But I’m really on here because as I was driving, I was listening and I’ve never heard our cheerful Val in Vegas sounding the way she did and I just want her to know that she is loved and we are all praying for her. And I will pray now, Heavenly Father, I just lift Val in Vegas up to You Lord. I pray that You bring her healing and comfort and Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Lord, be with her and all the others who are suffering from COVID or upper respiratory illnesses Lord. We just know that You are in control and we cling to You, we hold on to You tightly. Father, just be with us all and especially a special prayer for Val as she is feeling horrible and still yet, praying for others. Lord, we thank You, we love You. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Good morning DAB family. This is Paula in Albuquerque. Hope that you all are doing well and staying in the word. Just wanna give a shout out to my brother Daniel and my sister, Treasure to Treasure. Thank you for praying for my daughter and her husband. As I heard both of those prayers, I just had to give you a little bit of an update. My son-in-law was admitted and had to have a toe amputated. He’s got diabetes and not taking care of himself. My daughter separated from him, almost two years ago. She is doing well in her own strength. Got a better job, making plans for the future without him. She just went on a date with somebody she met on a singles site. My heart just aches for my little grandson, who is our little miracle and for them too because they’re so lost. Would you please continue to pray for them? Jackie and D and for my precious grandson who we call Bubba. I will celebrate his 5th birthday with him in a couple of weeks, which is so exciting. Thank you all, I love you all so much. Have a blessed week in Him.

Hello, Daily Audio Bible family. It is February 18th, I just finished listening to the podcast. Thank you, pastor Brian, and thank you everybody who called in. This is Lavender Dream, I’m on day, I think, 14 with COVID. And I’m slowly getting better but I still have some hearing loss in my right ear and the respiratory stuff is getting, it was getting worse and I’m high dose prednisone and a Z-pack. Doing all my modalities that I need to do and just trusting in God that this is getting better. It is getting a little better every day. So, I just heard a woman share that she tested positive for Trisomy 13 at 17 weeks pregnant and I would like to offer some encouragement. I too, test positive for Trisomy 13 with my second boy and I had the amniocentesis done and I am grateful to let you know that I gave birth to a healthy baby boy and he did not have those characteristics. So, I’m trusting and believing that you too will have a very healthy baby. I think sometimes that those tests sometimes that we can be carriers but they’re not full proof. So, I’m trusting and believing that your baby is going to be healthy and God will carry you through this pregnancy. And I want to thank everybody for your, putting your logs on the fire and for being here every day. I love this app. And praying for all of you. And I just ask for prayer for me to continue to heal and get better as I have many risk factors that are troublesome. Thank you.

Leviticus 9:7-10:20, Mark 4:26-5:20, Psalms 37:30-40, Proverbs 10:6-7

Today is the 20th day of February, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is wonderful to be here with you today as we greet a brand-new shiny sparkly week and remind ourselves that it’s a reset and the story of this week will be written, it will be written by us, we will live it and it will be created out of the choices and thoughts and words and interactions that we have this week. And may we be wise. And one wise move that we make every day is to come here around the Global Campfire and take the next step forward. And, so, let’s do that. It’s a brand-new week. We’ll read from the Christian Standard Bible this week. And picking up in the story that we left off, the giving of the law and the enactment of…well…where we left off yesterday, Aaron and his sons are going through the ordination process. What we are watching is the formation of the culture of Israel, the Hebrew people, the children of Israel. Today, Leviticus chapter 9 verse 7 through 10 verse 20.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word and we thank You for bringing us safely and successfully into this brand-new week. And today we heard words from the Psalms, “the mouth of the righteous others wisdom. His tongue speaks what is just. The instruction of his God is in his heart. His steps do not falter.” Lord, that is what we want our lives to look like. And we confess plenty of times our steps have faltered. We cannot do this on her own and so we humble ourselves before You, asking Your Holy Spirit to come and lead us that we might be transformed, that You are holy, so we must be holy as we are learning in the Old Testament. Help this to begin to sink in, that there are things that have to change. And guide our steps as we collaborate with You, acknowledge You, step forward with You into what needs to change. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hello, my DAB family my DAB house, my family that came straight from God. Today’s the 16th of February 22 and my name is Memory. I live in Hanchard England, and I’ve been listening to the DAB for nearly ten years now thanks to my baby brother Pitzi. God bless him. This is my first time to call family. I am asking if you may please pray for my 15-year-old niece MJ who has serious anger issues and is being very rebellious and getting into trouble at school. My sister is dealing with a lot of issues at the moment and the rebellion in MJ is really affecting her. Please may you pray that MJ be at peace with the passing of her dad and also that she stops acting up at school and at home. Please also pray for her butter who is in the midst of it all and for my sister that God may meet her at her point of need. I thank you my Daily Audio Bible family. I pray that the Lord bless you and keep you and I also thank you…thank Brian and all the Hardin family and all the people that work behind the lines to keep this platform going. Have a blessed day.

Hello this is John from the UK. I’d like to pray for my daughter Hannah who’s 13-/12 who has anorexia nervosa. She was a perfectly healthy girl until about September and then just started restricting on her eating and drinking to the point where she was dehydrated and had to be admitted to hospital. She’s in hospital now with my wife Rachel who has been caring for her and she’s been in the hospital with her 24/7 most of the time and is quite exhausted. We’ve had a lot of prayer, but we ask that in Jesus’ name you would set Hannah free from any evil that is making her not eat or drink and free her to eat and drink normally like a healthy girl and be the healthy, happy, Hannah she was especially when she gave her heart to Jesus last summer at the church youth camp. So, I pray please agree with me in Jesus’ name that she would be healed. Thank you very much. And bless you all. Amen.

Good morning Daily Audio Bible this is Curious George from Georgia first-time caller new to Daily Audio Bible this is Wednesday Thursday 17th of February my one-month anniversary of finding and join…joining the Daily Audio Bible. It is so good to hear the prayers of people from all over the world. I so enjoy hearing the different accents of believers all around this planet. It is so good to hear encouragement and prayers from other believers and to know that through prayer we can help each other. I’m reminded of one of my favorite verses in James chapter 5 where it says “the fervent effectual prayer of righteous people will availith much.” I believe that’s the old King James version, but I think you get the feeling. It’s so good to hear people and I so want to be able to pray better for the people that I hear but it’s hard to remember all of them of course. But just…I want you to know that I’m with you I love you all and I’m praying for you. And, so, again first-time caller. I want to check in regularly and become part of this community in this giant Global Campfire. I look forward to more encouragement and more praying. Talk to you later. Bye.

Good morning DAB family this is BW and NC. I wanted to call in this morning and first of all I want to pray for the young lady that called in on…the call was played last on February the 8th who is suffering from abuse and is new to our country. And, so, Lord I just pray that You…that You come alongside this Young lady, give her a faith community in her local area where she can go, and she can be safe and she can find resources that she needs for help. Lord, I pray that You protect her in the…in the interim. And Lord please…please I pray for the heart of…of the abuser Lord. Please just overcome the evil in this person part. Convict them, convict them with Your goodness so that they may see the error of their ways. So, Lord I just pray that in Your name. Before I go I just wanna say…I want to say hello to a few DAB friends and family. I want to say I’m thinking of you guys. Let’s see…who am I thinking of here? I’m thinking of Victoria Soldier, Blind Tony, Renzo. Renzo, I hope your family is doing well. I hope all is going well for you. Christy in Kentucky and Kathy in Kentucky. Soaring on Eagles Wings in Canada. His Little Chery in Canada. Someone I’ve been thinking about lately that I haven’t heard from is Melissa from Albertville AL. Hope you’re doing OK and you’re still with us. Also think of Whiter Than Snow. I hope you’re doing well. So, family I just want you to know that I’m thinking of you and I’m praying for you, and I enjoy hearing each and every one of you. Alright. Thanks, and have a great day.
