2 Chronicles 8:11-10:19, Romans 8:9-25, Psalms 18:16-36, Proverbs 19:26

Today is the 23rd day of July welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it’s awesome to be here with you every day. It’s awesome to be here with you around the Global Campfire as we move forward on our journey. And this journey is well underway. We’re well into the Scriptures, but we’re in a journey that takes us all the way through, and we do that, step-by-step day by day. And, so, we’re here for the next step. And that next step leads us back to second Chronicles in the Old Testament and the book of Romans in the New. We’re reading from the English Standard Version this week which is today and then we’ll move forward tomorrow. But for today second Chronicles chapter 8 verse 11 through 10 verse 19.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word and we thank You indeed for another week to spend on this earth together in community day by day moving through the Scriptures. And as is so often the case, we find ourselves in a state of gratitude because the Scriptures speak to our lives. They inform our lives. They inform our choices. They bring the voice of wisdom to us and reveal the crossroads in our lives. And we confess, there’s plenty of times we’re not paying attention but that’s not because it’s not available and it’s not there. So, we thank You for wisdom. We thank You for mercy. We thank You for grace. We thank You for freedom. All of the things that we are learning about in the letter to the Romans right now. We thank You for these things. Holy Spirit come, and as we cooperate by surrendering and submitting ourselves before You give us eyes to see and ears to hear, that we might see clearly the path that we are walking together with You forever. We pray this in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

This is Grant from __. I just want to take a moment this morning to pray for all of y'all out there. I don’t know what all your problems are, but God does. I just pray that, Lord that you please just be with all the people that need you, please just bless them, take care of them, and love them. Please just guide them in the direction that you wish for them to take. Please help all those that are having mental issues and cancer, fighting cancer and all. Lord, you know all their problems. Lord, I ask you please just be with them, bless them. Give them your love. Take care of them. I pray these things in your name Jesus. Amen. Love all y'all. Hope you have a great day. Hope the Lord is with you. Take care.

Hey family this is Mindy calling from Ohio and I was calling hopefully to encourage our sister Ashley from California. I heard your prayer request and it made me just think of something that has encouraged me in the last day or two. I heard a message from a pastor that talked about things that we can’t do for all of eternity. We can praise God. We can worship God. We can all of that for all of eternity, but we can’t do it in the midst of our brokenness or in the midst of our pain and our loss. But we have that opportunity to do that here now for such a short time. And it really made me think of what else can’t we do in eternity. And I’ve just been thinking just this morning of, we can’t show the radical love of God to the lost. We can’t tell people that don’t know Jesus about Him. We can’t love people that don’t love us. We can’t do any of that for all of eternity, but we have right now to be able to do that and to be able to sacrifice our way to God and to just give Him that gift of just a sacrifice, just to lay it at His feet, to be instruments of His righteousness in a lost and broken and dark world and bring light into darkness. All of these things we won’t be able to do for eternity, but we can do them now. So, sister I just hope this encourages you and just helps you be the shining light that you’ve been to us when you call in, to be that to your family in the midst of everything you guys are going through. And we’ll be praying for you. OK. Love you guys. Bye.

Good morning DAB this is Pamela from Texas. I just want to encourage you. If you don’t listen to the prayers afterwards to take the time to listen because whether they’re praying for you or not sometimes what is said will speak directly to you. I heard a word on June the 12th. She didn’t even give her name. She just started out my sister in Christ from Texas I feel I have a word for you from the Holy Spirit. And I don’t even think she was praying for me. She was probably praying for someone else in Texas. But what she said I know was a word for me directly from the Holy Spirit and it really resonated with me and spoke to me because of what I was going through. And I don’t call in very much but I’m going to start calling in because I do pray for those requests that God lays on my heart to pray for. And I am encouraged by this podcast and the prayers that everyone prays and how everyone prays for all of us. So, I know that I need prayer and I just wanna encourage everybody to pray and to listen to the prayers because sometimes those prayers will speak to you. Thank you, Brian. I love y’all. Have a great and Jesus filled day. Amen.

Hey everybody this is Jonathan from Denver. I’m calling in need of prayer today. I had some time off this week, took a little extra time off and I was planning to kind of go on my version of the long walk because I wasn’t able to on last Thursday. But instead, I kind of wasted a lot of that time and I sort of spiraled and I didn’t end up doing any of this stuff that I wanted to do. So, I’m just feeling really down and like I am not serving the Lord well and like I’m preventing myself from doing God’s will, which just feels lousy. So, I just ask that you would pray for me as I continue to go through this week. I’m back on and listening and I’m hoping that just hearing more of the word will help me. But your prayers are really coveted, and I thank you for this community and for all that you do for me. I’ve been feeling quite…quite isolated from any sort of faith community. So, this is really a godsend. So, thank you.

2 Chronicles 6:12-8:10, Romans 7:14-8:8, Psalm 18:1-15, Proverbs 19:24-25

Today is the 22nd day of July, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It is truly an honor and a privilege, to be here with you today, as we gather around the Global Campfire and take our next step forward through the Scriptures. It is awesome to be here together with you, today. So, let’s take that next step forward, which will lead us back into the book of second Chronicles and the reign of King Solomon. We’re reading from the English Standard Version this week, second Chronicles chapter 6 verse 12 through 8 verse 10.

Commentary:

Okay so, in the letter to the Romans today, Paul had some things to say that everybody should be able to fully, completely, understand and relate to. Even though, this letter is thousands of years old, it’s immediate. Paul said, I don’t understand my own actions. I do not do what I want but I do the very thing I hate. We can probably all relate to that; we probably have all found ourselves in those predicaments before. And how does this work, with all that Paul has been saying about being free from the claims of sin and the law just being there to reveal our transgression like, how does this work? He’s saying, basically, I know what’s right, but I can’t do it. Paul goes on to say, if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law that it is good. So, it’s not I who do it, it’s sin that’s with in me. So, Paul is saying this battle between good and evil, right and wrong, darkness and light, is a war that is waged within ourselves and the choices that we make reveal the Victor, and what becomes apparent is we can’t do this anymore than anyone could obey the law perfectly. So, what do we do? Paul says, wretched man that I am, who will deliver me from this body of death. Thanks be to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Then, he goes on to say something very famous; there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus, from the law of sin and death. So, the law is a good thing because it reveals sin, which is a bad thing. But the law cannot save you from your sins, it can simply reveal them to you, only Jesus can remove them from you and save you. The law is a revealer, not a Redeemer. The work of Christ didn’t condemn the law, it condemned the sin that the law reveals. Or quoting Paul “the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God is done with the law, weakened by the flesh could not do by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh”. And then, He goes on to say, for those who live according to the flesh, set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, set their minds on the things of the Spirit, for to set the mind on the flesh his death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. And we live in the tension between the two. And if this sounds like a fairly, highly theological formula, just consider that there is a practical option here. We can walk by the flesh or walk by the Spirit, we can follow the path of sin to its conclusion or we can turn to the Spirit and walk the path of peace. And so, when something comes up in our lives, whether it’s a compulsion or an addiction or a person or an item or whatever, when we feel pulled toward that thing, knowing that it’s not good for us, what if we just try what Paul is saying and understand that we can turn to the Spirit and walk by the Spirit, turning away from something that will be harmful for us and reaching to God for mercy in the moment, to give us the strength that we need. Like, what would be the downside of just trying to live that way, the way that Paul is suggesting. What if we practice it today and if Paul is right, and I believe he’s right, maybe we can practice it tomorrow and then practice it the next day and keep practicing it and see the fruit of it, see how it begins to shape our lives.

Prayer:

And so, Holy Spirit, we certainly need You in that, we’re talking about You, we’re talking about turning to You, when we turned to other things for comfort. You are the comforter, and we turned to all kinds of other things to bring comfort to us that really just steal things from us in the end. And we are grateful and humbled and do not deserve forgiveness. We don’t deserve the mercy, that You bestow upon us every single day, but we do accept it. We can’t earn it, but we do accept it. And in response, we should just turn away from it and do everything that will destroy us. We should turn to You, who have offered such grace and mercy in our lives. So, Holy Spirit, that’s what we do now, we turn to You and walk with You, but we ask for Your help as we feel the pull to all kinds of other things throughout the course of this day, in the coming days because this is the nature of life. May we turn to You, the one who actually knows it’s a narrow path that leads to life. Holy Spirit, come into this we pray, in the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Hi family, this is Rula from Sydney, Australia. I was just calling to answer one of the prayer requests that was made on the 15th of July, Justin from Virginia. I just wanted to reach out to you. I’ve recorded a message over 20 times and I have struggled to place words together to pray for you, not because I’m not praying with you or praying for you but because I just struggle with prayer and I struggle with words. So, I’ve tried to pray for you, to record the prayer but I just don’t know what to say. Because that’s just me, I don’t know what to say. I can’t, it takes me forever to type an email for work. It takes me forever to string together my thoughts. It takes me forever to put together a prayer. I’m praying for you, I love you. I heard your cries; I heard your prayers. And I know the whole family is praying for you. And I was listening to, in my attempt to record something or to pray for you, I thought, I’d listen to the podcast on the 18th of July and I’ll tell you what Justin, it, everything, from the reading, from Brian’s words and from the prayers that happened afterwards and even to the two minute silence at the end of the prayers. All of it spoke to my heart and it’s exactly what I wanted to say to you. I just wanted to say when the enemy attacks, just plug yourself into the word, plug yourself into the Daily Audio Bible community and into the Daily Audio Bible. And that gives you strength and that gives you a peace that transcends all understanding. Praying for you Justin. Be strong.

Hello everybody. This is God’s Smile Puddle and Peter Puddle. The reason why we said that, is because in the UK, yesterday and today it is really, really hot. It’s above 30 degrees. I know a lot of you, American, USA, are in Fahrenheit. So, you’ll have to work that out but, yeah, were in Centigrade over here. We rarely go over the 20’s the low 20’s here in the UK. We’re not climatized to this at all, are we Peter? No, and we’re only having two days of it so, you know, ha ha ha, weeeee. We got three fans running in the house, we have no a/c over here in the UK because you know, by the time the heat comes, it’s gone at some point. Yeah, it’s going tonight. I hope it goes. Back down to 20 degrees tomorrow. Sleeping with no clothes on, no covers. Bed clothes on, ah, well, be clothes on. I stand corrected, Peter, shall we sing quickly. Have we got time to sing? We’ve got a minute, come on, let’s squeeze it in. Father in heaven, How we love you. We lift your name in all the earth. May your kingdom be established in your graces. And your people declare your mighty works. Blessed be the Lord God Almighty, who was and is, and is to come. Blessed be the Lord God Almighty, who reigns forevermore. Thank you Lord that You reign. I’ve been through a bit of a storm these last few weeks. So, I’ll be quiet and times ticking away. Kiss kiss, bye bye.

Hi, this is Victorious Soldier, just calling to pray for the person that, the precious little boy that’s 18 months old that choked. I want to pray for that mom and that little precious boy that God will work a miracle of the kind of God he is. Gracious Father, we just ask you to touch that precious little baby and what he’s going through Lord. Oh Father, and touch that mother and that family. Lord, in the name of Jesus, you are a miracle worker, nothings impossible for you. You touch those doctors, you touch their mind Lord, everlasting to the everlasting. Father, you have your way. You touch Father, those who are going through anxiety, those who are going through depression. Lord, and you also, we ask you to touch Renzo, Lord, and encourage him and let him know that the Lord is with him. He said he would never leave us, nor forsake us. Let it be in the praise, God, and let God have his way. When the praises go up the blessings come down. Let God have his way. And I say that to those going through anxiety and to praise up the Lord. And even in your anxiety, He will give you joy unspeakable and full of glory. And Lord, we give you the glory. I want to thank Brian and Jill and all and tell Jill a belated Happy Birthday. And to all the people of God. Joe the Protector, it’s good to hear from you. We are still praying for your daughter. And I’m still praying for Blind Tony’s family. And all the people of God. Have a great day. Love you all.

Good morning my DAB family. It’s Susan from Canada, God’s Yellow Flower calling. And I just heard July 20th I think it’s Janet from the UK, who’s mom had a bad fall and she has to fly to the U.S. to make a decision. So, let’s pray family. Lord God, you know this situation better than anybody. You know exactly what’s wrong, where the bleeding is, you know Janet’s mothers lifespan. You have every step planned from before she was born. So, we pray Your hand in this whole situation. We pray for a smooth travels for Janet to come to the U.S., we pray for traveling mercies and safety. And we pray for wisdom and strength as she goes through this very difficult decisions she has to make and seeing her mother so very, very ill. We pray, Lord God, in the blessed name of Jesus, that you would grant Jan this wisdom she needs. Jesus, Jesus, the strength she needs, the courage she needs and the rest she needs. She needs rest in You, dear Lord. Bring her the peace that surpasses all understanding. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Hello, this is Leanne, Lily of the Valley. I’ve been listening to the Daily Audio Bible for a few years now. I’m from Florida. And I just want to say, thank you Brian and Jill for all that you’ve done and continue to do for us. But I’m calling to pray for the young lady that’s in London and going through the nursing test. Just keep the faith. I am doing the same thing with taking the state board test in Florida. It’s not easy but just knowing that God is in control. And the right time is your time. And I’m calling regarding the young man that saying that he’s too old to, to become a pastor or a priest. You’re never too old if that’s what God calls you to do. I am coming in from the nursing field and now, I mean an accountant and now I’m going into the nursing field. I thank God for every step that he has made in my life. And he will continue to do the same for you. Thank you Daily Audio Family, love you guys.

2 Chronicles 4:1-6:11, Romans 7:1-13, Psalms 17:1-15, Proverbs 19:22-23

Today is the 21st day of July welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it is wonderful to gather around the Global Campfire, come in together, find a place, set everything down, set all the cares and responsibilities and obligations down just for a few minutes and give ourselves permission to just focus our hearts attention on the Scriptures and our hearts affection on the Lord and take the next step forward together. And that next step forward leaves…or leads us back into the book of second Chronicles, which we’ve just begun. Second Chronicles picks up the story of Solomon’s reign in the same way that second Kings picks up the story of Solomon’s reign. And, so, let’s pick up the story of Solomon’s reign. Second Chronicles chapter 4 verse 1 through six, verse 11 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, we’re getting kind of in the thick of it now with Paul in the letter to the Romans. And he has been talking about freedom from the law, which we know is the Mosaic law. And we’ve already talked about Paul looking through a Hebrew lens. And, so, his awareness of the law and in fact the entire worldview is apparent. And, so, it’s easy enough for him to say we’re free from the law or we’re not under the law and just immediately feel as if the law has become an obsolete thing or is not a perfect thing or isn’t even a good thing since we’re free from it out. And what Paul is explaining today is there’s nothing wrong with the law. The law is what revealed the transgression, right? And, so, Paul says, like, how would I have known not to covet if there hadn’t been a rule or a law that said coveting is a bad thing? So, lets just bring this immediate. Stop signs are at corners for reason and if you didn’t have the stop sign, you wouldn’t know to slow down and so you could move through the intersection and get hammered. The stop sign is there to let you know you should stop for your own good. And disobeying the stop sign put you in peril and others. Well the law that we should stop at an intersection is…is prudent and valuable, with or without the stop sign. The stop sign makes you aware that there’s a law in place. You better stop. But Paul, he’s telling us that the wall reveals sin. But the thing is, sin doesn’t have a claim to us anymore. And Paul uses another analogy we can completely understand. If you’re married, you’re bound to the covenant. If one spouse dies, the covenant of marriage is ended. And, so, the person that in the future falls in love again and maybe remarries again isn’t breaking any covenant, the law of marriage. And, so, in the same way when we have faith in Jesus, we’ve died the person that sin had a claim to that the law could reveal sin in and are resurrected in Christ who is blameless, faultless and perfect. And through Christ sin has no claim to us. Again, a lot of these things are so important to the foundation of our faith, but as Paul is speaking then in the first century, they are really revolutionary thought to the point of Paul’s branded a heretic for it while Paul is saying is the law isn’t the problem, sin is the problem, and the law reveals sin when we transgress against it. So, when we break the law, breaking God’s law we have entered into sin, we’ve broken the law. The law isn’t the problem. Sin is the problem. But through Jesus there is no claim of sin against us. Through Jesus we no longer have to atone for ourselves. We don’t have to sacrifice a sheep or a goat or a bull. We go boldly before our Father, requesting mercy and grace and forgiveness. And according to the Scriptures, we are forgiven as if the transgression never happened, which does not mean we don’t face the repercussions of our choices because we all know where sin leads. And, so, when we operate from that place, we know the direction that we are headed. So, how do we sum this up? The law isn’t a bad thing. Obeying the law is actually walking a good solid path instituted by God. Disobeying the law brings us into sin. Grace and mercy cover the sin so that we get back up and keep moving knowing that there is no good in us to obey the law righteously. We can do our best but we will fall down. But mercy gives us a way to stand back up. And we will certainly explore this further, not only in Romans but in the other letters of Paul.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for where we are in this letter to the Romans and we thank You that we can take it in bite-size portions and kinda look at things and discuss things as we move forward and we are grateful for the opportunity. And we invite Your Holy Spirit to plant truths in our lives that grow into full blossoming truth inside of us. Lead us into all truth we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi Daily Audio Bible this is Kate from __ New Zealand. I’m wanting to do two things. First is to pray for our brother Renzo. I’ve always had a heart from him since I’ve heard him speaking. I’ve only been on this for 18 months but I hear __ and he’s lost a lot of his spark. So, Lord I pray for Renzo, that You’ll restore his hope and his strength and his joy, that You’ll encompass him with Your love and grace and You would lead him forward, where he’s been beaten down that You will restore and lift and enliven by Your Spirit by Your truth by Your strength and Your sword, that You’ll bring Your word to him to lift him, You’ll bring Your angels around him and You’ll guide him in his circumstances with his family and his…yeah his direction for his future, that You’ll be the one that guides his next step forward. Thank You for Renzo and for the witness he’s being to so many people, encouragement he’s been to his family and to those around him, the circle of…his circle of influence that he’s had. Lord, I bless him and Jesus mighty name. Secondly, I’d like to ask for prayer for my eldest son Howani who has been through a very dark place, is in a very dark place, has been for years, has rejected God a long time ago, has tried everything else, is now at the end of his rope. I pray Lord, would you join with me, I pray Lord that You will bring Howani to his knees, that he will cry out in desperation for something outside of himself instead of trying to do it all in his own strength, that he’ll cry out to You Lord Jesus, Lord God to show Yourself to him. And absolutely engulf him with Your love, Your grace, Your forgiveness, and strength, that he will come to know You, he will come to know You. Thank You, Jesus and thank You for Your prayers people. Amen.

Hello Daily Audio Bible family this is anonymous from Colorado. Today is July 18th. I just finished listening through the reading for today. Particularly Romans 4 was very encouraging to me as I’ve been dealing with a lot of feelings of hopelessness and just despair. I…still working through an assault that happened 20 years prior and feel great inadequacy as I try to establish healthy relationships. I’m in my 30s and praying that I can eventually have a family and that…that God will continue to bring healing as He has. But I just…been struggling and feel very burdened as of recently. I would very much appreciate prayer.

Hello DAB family I don’t call in very often and don’t often even listen to the prayer requests but when I do I feel so connected and some of the ones that I happen to hear often and really really enjoy our Victoria Soldier and Blind Tony and Renzo. And just last week I was driving home from work and Renzo was on my heart, so I began to pray for him and that stayed on my heart for a couple of days. And I didn’t call in or I didn’t do anything and honestly didn’t even hear any prayer requests last week. But today I ended up listening through the prayer requests and heard somebody praying for Renzo. So, he must have called in and asked for prayer and just…I wanted to call in and just encourage everyone that those of you that we hear on this platform, even if we don’t call in and pray for you God still puts you on our hearts. And here I was up here in the Black Hills of South Dakota praying for Renzo without even hearing anything. And that’s just totally the work of the Holy Spirit. So, I just wanted to call with that encouragement and then just pray over those of you who are in my heart often right here, especially for Renzo, whatever that prayer request is. Father God just be with him, be with him. Speak to his heart. Help him to sort out the…the voice of truth from all of the other voices. Help them to understand this…this process of sanctification of being like Christ, that it isn’t just an instant thing but it is a process of growth. So, I just bless him in his growth even though it feels like uncomfortable challenges to him, that he would be encouraged and just ground in tight to the word of God and Jesus name. Amen.

Hey DAB family it’s Ryan from Alberta Canada here. I just heard the story of the mother and a baby who choked on some food, Jill and Gus. And Gus is currently in the Children’s Hospital. I just want to hold that little baby up in prayer. How precious life is and how hard it is to come by for a lot of people. In my family having kids wasn’t easy. It’s a struggle when you want something so precious. It’s a struggle that we have something so precious __ is __ is how it’s doing. So, we just pray…little Gus we pray you work a miracle in his life. We pray you would help us be bold, to be willing to pray for these things, to not be ashamed of the God we believe in, the God who does miraculous things, the God that has changed all of our lives, to speak, to preach about you and your goodness to those who don’t know you so they too could pray to you, could know you, could experience the change of life that you’ve done in so many of our lives.

Hey DAB family this is your sister Ashely from California and I’m calling in to…I'm…I’ve been on the struggle bus, and I just listened to yesterday July 18th’s broadcast and Val from Vegas called in and she said when you’re on the struggle bus that there’s a miracle coming around the corner and to call in. And right now, y'all I am struggling. The grief from my grandmommy Jody passing and the dysfunction and the…and the…the just like…hiccups…I don’t know what they are. But just the unharmonious relationships in my family. Lord it is hard. It is so hard. And just missing my grandmother. And guys I know she’s in heaven. I know she’s with Jesus and I know she is good but here it is real rough. It is so rough, and we need…we need the Lord, we need renewing of our minds. We need that worship music. And I’m gonna do that. So, I’m gonna blast that when I’m at her house and we’re cleaning it up and we’re trying to do that. And I’m gonna do what that beautiful sister who had her purse stolen did for relatives that I feel like are not showing the love of Jesus even though they claim to love Him. So, I’m going to be praying for them and asking the Lord for help. So, please keep my family and your prayers DAB family. I love you Val. I love you so much. And guys thank you. I love you. Bye.

2 Chronicles 1:1-3:17, Romans 6:1-23, Psalm 16:1-11, Proverbs 19:20-21

Today is the 20th day of July, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It is fantastic to be here with you today, as we continue our journey through this month of July and continue our journey, step-by-step and day-by-day through the Scriptures. We concluded the book of first Chronicles yesterday in yesterday’s reading. And so, today we open with the beginning of second Chronicles and we won’t do a whole flyby with this because first and second Chronicles were one text and so we’re not moving into new territory, we’re just moving into what comes next. Very similar to the way first and second Kings worked and so, when we got the second Kings we began with Solomon’s reign, that’s where we find ourselves as were moving into second Chronicles. Whereas the book of Kings the books of Kings, kind of look at this piece of history through the lens of the royalty. We are looking in the books of Chronicles through the view of the priesthood but it’s the same point in history, and so a number of these stories may sound familiar to us, like maybe I’ve heard that before, probably we did in first Kings or second Kings. But we’re looking at it through just a little bit of a different lens. And so, as…as I just said we’re moving into second Chronicles, which moves us into the reign of King Solomon. And if we remember, from…from the books of Kings, Solomon brought the children of Israel to their finest hour. He was able to build the temple of God, he was able to deeply develop the infrastructure of the nation and he was the final King to have a united monarchy where there was Israel, the United tribes altogether. After Solomon, we remember that the kingdoms break into two, the northern kingdom of Israel and the southern kingdom of Judah. But we’re jumping into second Chronicles before all that and beginning with Solomon’s reign. So, let’s begin, second Chronicles chapters 1, 2, and 3 today.

Commentary:

Okay so, we have come to a point in the book of Romans now, where we can kind of look back and see what Paul has been laying out and what the implications are. And let’s remember that although Paul certainly did believe and agree with the fact that Gentile people were being welcomed into the family of God. Paul is a Jew. And so, what Paul is speaking is through a Jewish lens or from a Hebrew perspective. And Paul is connecting Jesus to the Hebrew story because the work of Christ, what Jesus did in rescuing humanity, came through a Hebrew context and was a fulfillment of promises made to the Hebrew people by God. Let’s just pause there for second like, if we hadn’t, if we had no knowledge of the Hebrew culture in the Hebrew customs in the Hebrew religion in any way, which we do from the Bible, but if we didn’t, we’d have a hard time making sense of it because it would be a foreign culture, with foreign customs, foreign rituals, foreign holidays like, a whole different way of doing things. But we would be hard-pressed to truly understand. Paul is a Jewish Pharisee. What he believes Jesus to be, which is what we believe Jesus to be, is the promised Messiah. So, Paul doesn’t attempt to divorce Jesus from the Hebrew story, he’s smack in the center of the Hebrew story. He’s a major fulfillment in the Hebrew story. Because the main goal here, was to obey God and become righteous before God by obeying the law of God. But as hard as Paul and others had attempted to do exactly that, the conclusion was nobody’s righteous, nobody can obey this. So even though this may be a pathway to righteousness before God, what it ultimately does is reveal our inability to get there on our own, in our own strength. None of us are good enough. There is none righteous right, no, not one. That hasn’t changed Paul desire to be righteous before God. And so, he’s searching and he sees when the law of Moses was given and he understands that there were things going on before that and he goes back to Abraham and realizes that according to the Hebrew Scriptures, Abraham became righteous because of his faith in God, because he believed God. Not because he obeyed God or did anything specific or followed a law that didn’t exist yet. He believed God. He had faith. And for Paul this faith is key and it allows Paul to say like, even while we were the enemies of God, even while we might have been making any attempt that we could to be righteous before God, but failing, even while we couldn’t possibly have a hope of becoming righteous before God, God still came to rescue us, through Jesus our Lord. Revealing that Jesus fulfilled the law of God and our faith, like Abraham’s faith in God, our faith in Jesus allows us to participate in the fulfillment of this promise. So, that we are made righteous before God, not by anything that we have achieved but through our faith in Jesus. Just like Abraham had faith in God in the promise. We believe this to be true and it becomes true. And the implications of that are, that we are made righteous before God and are being made sanctified to before God, and sin that leads to death has no claim to who we are anymore. We are set free from transgression, through faith in Jesus. Our faith in Jesus, actually brought to an end, the sinful person that we were. And in the waters of baptism, we experience this death, burial and resurrection movement. We are made new again. We’re not the person that we once were. That person died, we have been resurrected as a new creation, a new preacher. We’re not who we were, we are a new creation before God. So, then the obvious question is, okay great, I’m free from sin like, sin has no claim to me anymore. So now, I can do whatever I want like, whatever happens, any mistake that I make, whether accidental or willful, can be forgiven. Like, I have achieved this place of righteousness before God, through Jesus. And so, sin isn’t a problem anymore and I don’t have to worry about it anymore. And Paul essentially says in today’s reading, not so fast, little buddy like, not so fast. That’s not what’s going on here. Jesus rescue of our souls and setting us free from the claims of sin in our lives, doesn’t give us permission to sin even more, because we think the debts paid and it’s all taken care of. Sin leads to death, that has been true all along, sin leads to death. And if you’re going to obey the pathway of sin, then you’re going to become a slave of whatever you’re willing to submit to. The point is, not that you have lost your ability to transgress against your brothers and sisters or against God, the point is, this is not an inevitability. We don’t have to live that way, we don’t have to try to walk this fence and at half of ourselves in the darkness and have of ourselves in the light and then we just turn around backwards the next days, bur we’re still in the darkness right, we’re still halfway in each place. We don’t have to live that way anymore. There is no claim to us. The person who used to have that story has died. We have been made new. So, we have been granted freedom to sin, we’ve been granted freedom from sin and that might be a really good thing to ponder today. We have been given freedom in Christ to sin, we’ve been given freedom in Christ from sin and that is a big difference.

Prayer:

So, Holy Spirit, we invite You into that. You have given us enormous freedoms, plenty of volition, plenty of opportunity for us to make choices, and for those choices to matter. So often, we find ourselves dabbling in things that are going nowhere, things that we have ultimately been set free from. We ask Holy Spirit, that You would come and open our spiritual eyes, give us eyes to see and ears to hear, what it looks like to truly be free, to walk away, to cut ties from the things that will ultimately destroy us and ultimately pull us apart, estrange us yet again, from You. You have set us free. May we live to find out what that really looks and feels like in this world. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Hello family, Drew from the Bay Area. Calling in today, I know it’s been a while. You are my family, we’re one in Christ, even though we don’t feel like it very often. I want you to pray, pray for a man named Eron: E-R-O-N. And then, I also wanted to pray with you. A long time ago I prayed something like this: heavenly Father, Lord God, Jesus, if You’re there, come into me. I know I don’t deserve You. And I’m looking to find joy in this world. But Lord, I can’t find joy in anything that I do or anyone. Lord, I’m happy here and there but I realize my life is not, is not a good life, not what it could be, not what you could make it. So, Lord, if You’re there, prove it to me, walk with me so that I can be better at what You want me to do. Give me your power, Lord. I can’t do it on my own. It’s in Jesus name, I call on Jesus. Jesus come into me.

Hello, Caleb from New Mexico. I just wanted to welcome you to the Daily Audio Bible. And I heard your request for prayer on podcast July 17, 2022. And you said that you wanted a prayer because your battling discouragement and you feel that you will always be alone. And I just wanted to let you know that that is Satan because that is a lie, it’s a deception from him. Because Jesus promise in Matthew 20:20, that He will always be with you. And so, I wanted to encourage you to keep on going and you have a lot of us praying for you and wishing you the best. You can always reach me in the Prayer Wall. And many people who are new, do not know that you can go into the Prayer Wall and post your request. So, thank you for calling Caleb. And we love you and may God richly bless you and your son. And continue on because the Lord loves you and so do I. Blessings to you Caleb.

Good afternoon Daily Audio Bible family, this is Janet from the UK and I need your prayers, family. So, my mom and a really bad fall a couple days ago. She was found in the morning by the care-er and now she’s in ICU. She has two areas of bleeding on her brain, she is constantly having seizures. So, they’re not able to do an MRI scan to see like, where the bleeding are or what is actually bleeding. So, they’ve been given her medication but she’s still bleeding and she’s still bleeding, she’s still having seizures. I spoke to the doctor, the doctor said the only, the last resort is to put her on life support and do the MRI scan to find out what is going on or where the bleedings are. But then if they put her on life support at 85 with all her, all that she’s going on with her, there not sure if they’ll be able to bring her back. As her power of attorney, as her legal guardian basically, I now have a decision to make as to what I want done. I am flying to the U.S. from the UK on Wednesday. So, I’m asking you family, to please pray safe journey and for me to make the right decisions for my mom. And not get scared and more trust in God. I’m scared, I’m very scared, I’m trusting God that He, cause He knows about my mom before she was even born, so He has all her lifespan in His hand. He knows exactly what is gonna happen. I just need your prayers for a good decision. Thank you, family, thank you so much.

Hey fam, it’s Sparky. It’s the 17th and I’m finally doing my Long Walk. And it’s been a good one. God has been talking to me and He tells me “When you met your wife, you’ll had a small flat apartment. When ya’ll got out of that small flat apartment and got rent house, that was when she told you that you need to find God.” And, I was a blasphemer, I was. And what God has told me through this, I’m walking through my neighborhood and I’m not kidding you on when I met my wife, I lived in a camp trailer, a camp trailer. And she pretty much gave me a place to stay. And the last time I got thrown in jail she said, this is gonna be the last of it. You need to start praying, you need to find God. And then I found God. And I walked through this neighborhood an I said, here I go. Oh my gosh, can I, would I ever imagine this? I was so sorrowful, so negative, so depressed. I still fight depression. Would you ever dream that you could make it all up? And you could make it out of your slump and have a better life once you make it out of that slump? I love you guys, you’re the best church family in the world. Be well.

Hello my DAB family, this is Jamie in New Jersey, Standing on the Word of God. Please pray with me. Dear Father in Heaven, we come into your presence so aware of our human frailty and yet overwhelmed for Your love for us. We thank You that there is no experience that we can walk through where Your love cannot reach us. We climb the highest mountain, You are there. And yet, if we find ourselves in the darkest valley of our lives, You are there. Teach us today to love You more. Help us to rest in that love that asks nothing more than a simple trust as the heart of a child. Help us to get our eyes off the mountain before us and put our eyes on You, the God who moves the mountains. Turn our lives into a powerful demonstration of what trust in You looks like. Father, help us to grow that mustard seed of faith that You have given us, that we may have a testimony for Your kingdom. We pray in Jesus name. Amen. Thank you for praying with me my brothers and sisters. I love you all dearly. May God move the mountains in your life. Have a good night.

1 Chronicles 28:1-29:30, Romans 5:6-21, Psalms 15:1-5, Proverbs 19:18-19

Today is the 19th day of July welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it’s great to be here with you today just like it is every day. It’s wonderful to be able to have this rhythm. Brings us back together each day for the next step forward together. And that next step leads us back into the book of first Chronicles, which we will actually be concluding today and move forward into second Chronicles tomorrow. So, we are reading from the English Standard Version this week. And today, first Chronicles chapters 28 and 29.

Commentary:

Okay. So, we are kinda getting settled into the letter to the Romans and some of the things that Paul said in that letter today are…well…they’re foundational, but they’re profound. Foundational in our faith in Jesus. Profound in the implications of what Jesus did. So, we began our reading today while we were still weak…“for while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.” So, if we just stopped there with that verse. That’s a whole verse, verse six. That verse pretty much sums up everything. When we couldn’t do anything about it Jesus came for us. When all hope of us becoming righteous before God was lost, Jesus came. And Paul goes on to say, like it’s a super unusual thing for somebody to die, like literally end their human life so that another one may live. But Paul acknowledges maybe…maybe if that person is a really good person, somebody might even dare to give up their life so that they might live. But that’s not what God did. God came while we were still sinners while we were estranged from Him hopeless to be reunited with Him while we were still His enemies, He came for us. And Paul’s drawing that out because it’s like who does that? Nobody dies for anybody else. But even if that were to happen maybe somebody would die for a really really good person for a really good reason. But who dies for their enemies while they’re still enemies? That’s the magnitude of what Paul is saying. That’s the magnitude of what we believe, that when we were hopeless, while we were still enemies, while we were still sinners, while there was still nothing, we could possibly do about it, Jesus came and did something about it and restored us and reconciled us to God. Like, all debts are paid before God. Like, that is foundational to our Christian faith but that is mind boggling stuff right there, because in effect what is being said is when we were hopeless for anything, Jesus came and gave us everything. And then we…we see Paul kind of always looking back. Like, yes, everyone in Judaism was centered around the law of Moses’s and really the following of Moses teachings. Paul went back to Abraham and said this is where the story started, and now he’s going all the way back to Adam and saying this is where another part of the story actually started way before Moses, way before the law. Sin came into the world through one man, and death entered the world through sin, and so death spread to everybody because everybody sinned. Adam had been created sinless, but subsequently introduced sin into the species, into this story. Sin leads to death. And Paul says Jesus is essentially the antidote. I quote Paul. “For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man, Jesus Christ.” Paul goes on to say, “for if, because of one man’s trespass death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.” Okay so as foundational as that is and is easy enough as it is for us to say, yeah, I understand the concept, like I’ve heard this lots and lots of times and yes, it’s profound and yes I’m paying attention, but I have heard this before, it’s the implications that get me. Because the implications are that sin doesn’t have claim, that sin may indeed be in the world and evil may be here, but it doesn’t have claim to us who believe. This is what we believe as Christians. When we were utterly hopeless Jesus came. And I realize there’s a lot going on in all of our lives. Like who doesn’t have something going on? Who’s just waking up in the morning going, ahhh…another day of complete bliss? Let me figure out what blissful thing I might do today. That’s gonna be my biggest struggle, is figuring out what blissful thing I might do today. Like, that’s not how life usually works. So, I realize like there’s stuff going on. Some of them are hardships. Some of them are simply struggles that we have to continue to endure and move through. And, so, it’s really easy for us to get really focused on these things that are bringing pain into our lives in some sort of way, or discomfort in some sort of way. And, so, it’s easy enough for us to lose our place in the story, like to lose the plot. What we’re being told at its core in the book of Romans is that God is for us and not against us, which doesn’t necessarily mean He is for everything that we choose to get involved in or do but he is for us, so much so that while we were still enemies, He came to reconcile us, to get us back to restore us. We are restored. And so often when we’re kind of focusing in on the cares of this life we forget these basic truths. This is in a nutshell why the gospel is good news. This is the good news, that there is no claim to us anymore. We are reconciled to God. He is not looking at us as an enemy. He is looking at us as a child, which is indeed good news. And, so, no matter what is going on in our neck of the woods in our rolling hills in our flat planes in our rainy seasons or dry seasons nothing has the power to take us away from God. Sometimes we need to simply get back to the basics or boil it back down to the essential core and understand okay, first and foremost, no matter what else is going on in my life that distracting me, first and foremost, God is present, God is for me. I am a child of God. I don’t deserve that, but I accept it. And, so, may we meditate upon that today, especially when there’s so many distractions that pull us apart, literally pull us into pieces in order for us to cope. Amy we get back to this essential core. God is here, He loves me. Nothing can separate us.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for that truth that comes crashing back in. It’s so easy to get distracted. Even when we know these things it’s so easy for us to live as if they’re not even true. And yet this is the good news of the gospel, and we do believe, and we do receive this truth. So, Holy Spirit come and lead us deeper into Jesus today. Lead us deeper into our relationship today. May we find rest in knowing that there’s nothing we could possibly do to jump up and down or put on pretty cloths to make You pay attention to us. You came for us when we were filthy and an enemy. You loved us beyond what we can comprehend and You would never let us go. And we believe that, and we find rest in it. And, so, come Holy Spirit, comforter, come comfort our wounded and broken hearts with this truth we pray. In the name of Jesus we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hey everybody this is George from Michigan. Just reaching out because I heard the prayer request from Renzo. And I just…I wanted to tell you Renzo you're…you are amazing. You’re an inspiration to us all. And, you know, we all go through ups and downs and our faith and it’s OK. You know, God’s always there. And you know it’s those moments where you feel probably the least where God is with you the most. And I know that that doesn’t feel that way but those are the moments when He’s there with you. And trust me Renzo, God will lead you on the path that He wants you to follow. You’re open and receptive to His word. And you just, you know, stay strong to the faith and I promise God will…will lead you. God bless you brother and keep you in prayer.

Hello this is Greg from Washington and I just wanted to pray for those that are experiencing anxiety and stress and feel at the end of their rope and like they don’t know how they’re gonna make their next steps. And, so, I heard someone pray and asking for help on this issue just now. Alright. Dear Lord thank You, thank You, thank You for every breath for everything You’ve given us. Thank You for Your fresh love and You’re abiding with us in us and for the strength that You have that You’ve given us and that You will give us that we don’t even know we have. Dear Lord please help us to remember that if we feel like we’re at the end of our rope that there’s more rope there and You’ve provided it. Dear Lord, we thank You. We thank You for Your provision. Please give us comfort in the times when we feel like we can’t do it and realize that our feelings are just a…just a light on a dashboard and don’t always mean what we think they mean. Provide comfort and love and knowledge to us in these times that are…that are hard and may get harder. Thank You Lord for Your blessing. In Your name Amen. The name of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Good day everybody this is Phil from Michigan first time caller. I’m gonna go by Fill Up My Cup. I just wanted to call and give some testimony to God’s good graces. So, a few weeks ago this is when the story happened, my wife is pregnant, and we are having our baby on Friday the 22nd if it goes full term. She could honestly pop any minute. I’m an over the road truck driver and I was supposed to not be over the road a couple weeks ago and some stuff sort of happened at work and I got forced to still go over the road out of state. And I was just really furious, I guess. And, so, while I’m over the road our route got changed and we had some extra time and we got to explore the Opryland hotels in Nashville TN and then the following day…night my driving partner and I got to have lunch on the Hudson River looking at New York City at nighttime and just talked scripture and just have some real deep conversations about walking in faith and being with God. And just really the big light of all that was here I am sitting frustrated you know really worried anxious nervous, and it just felt like God said to me, hey my plan is this for you and here’s some blessings to prove that. And on top of it here I am local in town-ish. And either way it’s like looking like if I get that phone call any minute now, I can make it home in time to welcome my first child into the world. And, hey, I just want to give glory to God for laying His blessings on me and give you guys some encouragement on that. Stick with it. Be faithful. We love you.

Hey this is Penny from southwest Missouri, and I just wanted to give a shout out to Ezekiel and I want him to know that I take care of some special needs guys and they are adults but they love listening to Daily Audio Bible Kids. And every day that Ezekiel says bye they just laugh, and they just love him so much. And, so, I just want you to know Ezekiel that you inspire people of all ages around the world, and I just think you are extra special. Love you. Bye. Bye.

Hi DAB family this is Laura in Colorado I’m calling with an urgent prayer request. I just found out a friend of mine, her 18-month-old son choked on some food yesterday and although she started CPR right away his heart ended up not beating for over 40 minutes. And he is now at Children’s Hospital on a ventilator. They’re not sure how much brain activity he has. So, I think today’s going to be a hard day for her. And she’s praying for healing, and we all pray for healing and ask Jesus that He would touch this little boy’s body and restore it in every way, that He would be glorified. The mom’s name is Jill, and her baby is Gosso. So, if you could please hold this mommy and her baby in your prayers I know she would appreciate it. Thanks. Bye.

1 Chronicles 26:12-27:34, Romans 4:13-5:5, Psalm 14:1-7, Proverbs 19:17

Today is the 18th day of July, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian and it’s great to be here with you today and every day, like always, as we gather around the Global Campfire and take the next step forward together, which of course, is leading us back into the book of first Chronicles in the Old Testament and the letter to the Romans in the new. We are certainly rounding the corner on first Chronicles; couple more days and we will conclude first Chronicles which will lead us into second Chronicles in a couple days. But first, we’re reading from the English Standard Version this week, first Chronicles chapter 26 verse 12 through 27 verse 34.

Commentary:

Okay so, we are several chapters into the letter to the Romans now. And so, we’re getting the cadence of Paul and we’re seeing, he has a lot in one sentence but he’s laying out right now in this letter, what is fundamental to the Gospel that he preaches. This is kind of the foundation that everything else gets built upon and it’s really important for us to kind of understand what’s going on here. Paul is a trained Pharisee. So, Paul knows the ways of Judaism right, he was born into it, raised in it, so he knows the vocabulary. I mean, we have a like, Christian people typically have some type of vocabulary. Sometimes, people even call it Christianese; the language of the culture, things that we might say like, praise the Lord, or But God, or any of the things that we kind of normally say, we can say these things randomly and people may look at us like we’re a little nuts, but if we say to another believer, like it’s part of the cultural backdrop and tapestry that we’re used you. So, Paul would’ve known like Jew-ese, I guess. Paul knew the fabric and tapestry of the culture and had devoted his life to becoming a Pharisee. We can look at the Pharisees as the people who were against Jesus and that is true but the Pharisees were devout, very, very dedicated people to studying the Torah, to obeying and adhering to the law and teaching and even enforcing it out among the people. This is Paul’s background. He knows the law that was given to Moses, the Mosaic law, and the understanding among the Jewish people was adherence to that law makes you righteous before God. And so, that is how you live your life. Adhering to the law, being made righteous so that you can have hope for the future and the Pharisees did have a hope of resurrection. So, as followers of Jesus, we have the hope of the resurrection, through Jesus. For Paul and his contemporaries, there hope certainly was in God, but their righteousness was attained by adhering and obeying the law, right. So, if you, are you following me? So far, when Paul met Jesus on the road to Damascus, a shift began to occur and we witnessed that seen in the book of Acts. But after encountering Jesus and beginning to read think what he thought that he knew, while holding onto his allegiance to Moses, he began to realize, hang on, this story includes Moses and there really isn’t a figure more prominent or powerful than Moses in this story, but Moses didn’t start the story. The person that we look to you, and I’m speaking to Paul’s kind of eyes here, the person that the Jews would look to as kind of their founding father, like the first patriarch, his name was Abraham. We met him in the book of Genesis. And so, we can begin to kind of look into what Paul is thinking what did everybody do before there was a law? Like, how…how did things work before that? And so, he goes back to the first patriarch, he goes back to Abraham and looks at that story and realizes Abraham couldn’t have obeyed them, actually Abraham didn’t obey the Mosaic law a single day in his life, because it didn’t even exist. So, how did Abraham become righteous? How did anybody, without this set of rules that you obey, and if you can perfectly obey them, you can be righteous, how could anybody do this? And the answer that Paul found is actually in the life of Abraham. God visited Abraham and told Abraham that He was going to make him the father of many nations. He told him this, at a time when that was very improbable and extremely unlikely. Because as Paul said in our reading today, he’s almost 100 years old and his wife Sarah, she’s too old to have children too. So, maybe it’s theoretically possible that Abraham could still get a younger woman pregnant who could bear children, but the promises to Abraham and Sarah, and so this is very unlikely. But that is precisely when, the thing Paul was looking for, happened. Abraham believed God, and God counted that trust and belief toward him as righteousness. So, what Paul is saying is, faith in God came first. That’s how the story starts or just…just to quote from Romans “no unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God. But he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. That is why his faith was counted to him as righteousness. But the words it was counted to him were not written for his sake alone, but for ours, also. It will be counted to us who believe in Him, who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.” So, I realize that the idea that we believe with all of our heart, in Jesus and have faith, like that…that sort of fundamental foundational Christianity. Here in the letter to Romans is where we begin to see this be fleshed out in the Scriptures. And as I said, like this is a fundamental building block, a foundational piece well, of the faith itself, but certainly of everything that Paul has to say. This is where he’s coming from. So, knowing that that’s foundational, that’s where he’s coming from, helps us in all of the other things that he has to say. So, as we who adhere to this, as we will believe this, our faith in God through Jesus is what makes us a disciple of Jesus and grants to us redemption and righteousness and eternal life. It’s good to know how this came to be. But a lot of the times, since it is foundational and almost ubiquitous and certainly ubiquitous in the Christian faith because it's…it’s the doorway right, faith in Jesus is the doorway. We can very, very easily just take for granted things like grace and mercy and just…just know that, no matter what we do, the Lord will love us and although that’s true, that’s not really how you treat somebody that you love. And so often, we can kind of like, allow these things to become callous in our lives and so we focus on how much of an over comer that we get to be because of Jesus. And then we get a little bit skewed because it’s like now this life is supposed to be soaring 6 inches above the ground, at least. And the higher we can float the more holy that we are, when all of us actually have to get up in the morning and put our pants and dresses or whatever on. We have to get dressed and go out into the world into the day, and yeah, it can be in overcoming day or we can get flattened like a pancake. So, when we do become callous to some of the fundamental foundational things, we lose track, well, we lose the plot of the story. Paul, as he’s laying this out, actually brings everybody back to earth, in the final couple of sentences that we read today. “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Him, we have also obtained access by faith into this grace that we now stand in, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. So, like we’re all on board like, everybody’s tracking here and then he says like, take a breath, says another sentence. “Not only that but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” This theme of endurance, anyone who’s ever been through the whole Bible before and kind of moves deeper and deeper into the New Testament, begins to realize that that theme, that reminder, that thing that we can’t forget, that endurance is part of the story. It won’t let us be. If we didn’t know that, we had plenty of examples of endurance happening in the book of Acts. And so, Paul is saying essentially, we have moved from death to life, we have been transformed by this grace and nothing gets wasted, including our times in the wilderness right, our times of suffering and hardship, because suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope. We rarely think about the difficult times in our lives as positive things, until we can look back upon them, until we’re away from them, until we have hindsight. But what if we were able to reframe the whole experience of life, knowing that, we have been made right before God, we are his ambassadors in this world revealing his kingdom. And everything that we encounter can take us, the next step forward if we’re open. And obviously, there’s any number of directions we could go to conversation like this one, but the point. The main thing to remember here is this is a foundational building block that Paul is putting into place and it’s something that we’re going to hear over and over a lot of times, it’s faith that came first, the other stuff came after and it’s important stuff, but faith came before there was a law, to obey.

Prayer:

So, Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for the letter to the Romans that we’ve been able to pour over and analyze and consider and meditate upon for thousands of years. And so, now it’s our turn and we’re considering, pouring over and rejoicing in the Good News, that it tells us, help it to sink in. Help us to know that everything is an opportunity for us to grow because we have been ultimately set free. Come, Holy Spirit, and lead us into all truth, we ask. In Jesus name. Amen.

So, check that out, but regardless of whether you are using the app or the website you can find out what’s going on around here. So, check out the Community Section, there are links there in the Community Section to get connected on social media, different channels that we participate in. But the Community Section is also home of the Prayer Wall, that is always on and never off. There is always a place for us to go, day or night, near or far, no matter where we are on earth, no matter what is going on in our lives. There is a place to go, where brothers and sisters who are on the same journey as we are, moving through the Scriptures together are there. We’re on the same page and that’s like a literal thing, literally we’re on the same page of the Bible as we continue to move forward. And we don’t, we don’t usually go through a year where we don’t need to reach out. And we don’t, that we don’t need to know that we’re not alone. We don’t need friendships, we don’t need relationships, like we…we’re wired for this. So, when things get a little sideways in our lives, there is a resource, a place to go, share the story, ask for prayer. But it works in reverse too. It’s a place where we can go and hear the stories and offer prayer and encouragement. So, that’s the Prayer Wall and that can be found in the Community Section and it’s, like I said, always on, never off, and invaluable as we take this journey through a year together. So be aware of that.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Hi DAB family, this is Shielded in Colorado. I’m calling today to ask the family to pray for all the people who have lost children recently. My cousin and his wife lost their 18-year-old son last week and as it comes close to my son’s birthday, it’s been on my mind. My son died six years ago, but it’s also made me think of all the people out there who have lost their sons and daughters. And all the DABers who have been calling in for their children. So, if we could pray for them. Jesus, please help all the families who have lost children or have children with issues. Give the parents strength, give the family strength and put Your grace over all of it. Thank You Jesus. Thank you DABers. Love you all. Bye.

Hello, good morning. I’m so grateful for my DAB family, this community, it’s been such a blessing for my life. I’ve been listening to it over 15 years and everyone is just a blessing to me. My family, some have already gone to Christ, not this years. And those that are here, let’s just stay faithful, looking up to Jesus. Believing in life before the Lord. When He comes, He will find us doing His perfect will. You guys are a blessing to me and those that I need, I always pray for those that call in, that ask specifically for prayer. And I love it when there’s testimonies. Thank you so much, you guys are a blessing to me. Especially today, when I heard a girl, she was so sweet. Her purse was stolen and she prayed for the person that stole. That was amazing. What an incredible example. You are amazing, thank you for sharing that. And I just wanted to put this out there. Lesson learned and we hit the enemy really hard on his head by praying for those that does us harm. Thank you, thank you girl, God Bless you. And I, I pray with you that I was in one accord with you. God will have mercy and find this person and reach his needs. And that you can get your things that you need. God is so good …

Hello DAB family, this is Jeremiah from Michigan, God Gives Good Gifts. I’m reaching out to ask for prayer today. I have set up a meeting with my parents, for this upcoming Sunday and I have taken a break from our relationship with them for the last two years because of trauma and manipulation and just a toxic relationship. And just stepping out in obedience to reach out to them. I worked through forgiveness for them over the last period. And I’m just wanting to walk that forgiveness out with them and actually walk into total forgiveness. So, please pray for me for my emotions, for my thoughts and just for the Lord’s presence. And I also just want to encourage you that are facing anger and bitterness and depression, forgiveness is the way. Jesus has paid for all of our sin, for all of their sin and He calls us to forgive completely from the heart. It doesn’t mean that we can’t make good boundaries and good decisions. But forgiveness is really the way that we’re able to unshackle ourselves from those bad choices that other people have made and really let the Lord have all of our burdens. So, let’s just bring our burdens to the foot of the cross and lay them there and let the Lord take care of them and just have our hearts be filled with His grace and mercy, His forgiveness, His peace. Let us walk that out together. So, please pray for me. I’m praying for you guys. Thank you so much for all your prayers and Brian for speaking the word to us over and over and over again. Love you guys, blessings. Bye Bye.

This is Hands to Heaven and I want to share a portion of my testimony to encourage those who have lost a child. Four years ago, this morning, I held my step-daughters hand as she walked into the arms of Jesus. An undiagnosed infection had become septic and almost before we could wrap our heads around how truly sick, she was, we were told she wouldn’t recover. We faced the harsh truth that barring a miracle, we would be burying one of our children, again. Because we had buried my son, two years earlier. I remember asking God if He was really gonna make us walk this path a second time. I remember being far from friends and most of our family and wanting desperately to be anywhere else. I remember hearing my husband pray words that broke my heart and made me thankful that he is a man of God. Lord, heal her or take her home. Sherry was a child of God and even as she lay passing from this life to the next, God was at work. Her friends began to arrive just before she was transferred to Hospice where she slept quietly for almost a week after all measures were stopped. Sherry never regained consciousness but many of her friends had a chance to see her, pray over her and say goodbye. We drew comfort from hearing how her faith had touched their lives and how she helped them grow in their own walk with God. I was awakened that morning, four years ago, shortly after 430, even though I tried to ignore God’s nudge. Glancing at the monitors, I saw the stats slowly decreasing and I remember desperately hoping I was wrong but I wasn’t. God in His infinite mercy removed the chance of this world from Sherry and set her free that day. Day-after-day I had watched her look younger and more peaceful as the cares of this world lost their hold on her. As much as we miss her and wish she was still here, I know that without a doubt that Sherry is happier where she is, than she ever could have been here on earth. Death wasn’t the end for Sherry, it was just the beginning of her eternity with Jesus. I pray those of you who have lost a child find some comfort in knowing that God loves you and cares for you and he has a purpose for your pain. God Bless You.

Hello DABers, it’s your girl, Val in Vegas. Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, oh hello precious, precious brothers and sisters. I just gotta say I love y’all. And I see that Satan is up to his no good, grimy business again. He trying to mess with our minds man and we rebuke all of that in the name of Jesus. Because God, you renew our mind daily Lord and we walk with You. Lord God, right now we come against all mental health and anxiety, in the name of Jesus, Lord. We lay it at the throne heavenly Father. God, we know that staying in Your word Lord, listening to Christian music Lord, praying Father and meditating on You Lord, these are the things that build good health, Lord. Heavenly Father, I pray right now, that You just please God, heal Lord Jesus, so many people calling. Satan, you got no business here, you get away from my brothers and sisters. I claim good mental health for me and everyone that hears this call, Lord Jesus. I love you guys. I need you know that when you on the struggle bus, there’s a miracle right around the corner. So, hold on, hold on. And when it gets too tough, you call in here, you get on that Prayer Wall, you get on your knees, you get in your Bible, you reach out. Don’t struggle alone. We need to hear this; I love you guys. I love you; I love you; I love you family. Good mental health, Lord, for everyone. In Jesus name. Thank you, Father, thank you God.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hello this is Iris from Sun City AZ I’m calling on behalf of the woman who called in today July 13th to say that her purse had been stolen. I was so blessed by her prayer for the thief who took her things, and I would like to pray for her as well as the thief and thank God for her. Dear Lord Jesus, I thank You for this woman who has Your grace and Your mercy in her heart and that…so that she can forgive this crime that was committed against her. Lord God I also prepare…I also pray for the woman or man or Young person who…who did this thing, the stealing of someone else’s property. Lord God, I pray that You would meet him or her, confront him or her. And Father I am praying even for the miracle that her items would be returned. Thank You, Lord in Jesus…

Hello Daily Audio Bible family this is Caleb from New Mexico first time ever calling. Just so thankful for this family and for the community. It’s…it’s extremely encouraging, and it’s gotten me through a lot especially lately. I was just calling for some prayer. I have come back in my walk with the Lord about over a year ago, born and raised in the church but I strayed away and during that time got married and had a son and then divorced and divorced of last year and realized that I walked away and I had to come back. And I’ve been working on myself and my walk with the Lord and my relationship with him and I love him dearly but just would like some prayer. Right now, I…I was in a very loving relationship. I’m a single father. I have my son the majority of the time and the relationship is put on hold because the Lord’s is telling us that we need to work on some things separately. I’m just battling discouragement and the enemy trying to put things in my head about I’m never going to be good enough and will always be alone. But I love her very much and I love the Lord and it’s really been nice to refocus on my walk with Him and just watching Him do what He does best and that show up and that darkest times. But thank you DAB family. I love you all. And thank you Brian, I hope you guys all have a blessed week.

Hi DAB it’s Belle from Colorado. Dear God, I’m praying for Matthew from the UK. He’s got a lot going on, from eye problems to rats to his wife being diagnosed with diabetes and more. Hey Daily Audio Bible it’s Doctor John from Jordan NY I’m gonna ask you to join me in prayer for a homeless man that I gave my couple granola bars to the other day. And he said God bless you and I asked God to bless him back. And he asked me to pray for him. His name is John. And, so, I’m going to ask you to join together with me in praying for John. Heavenly Father I thank You for the opportunity to pray for John. I thank You for his request to pray for him. Please provide for him whatever he needs. Please provide provision for shelter and for food and for clothing, whatever he needs Lord please provide for him and please do so miraculously so that he knows that this provision is from You and by Your hand. And I ask all of this in our Lord and savior Jesus’ name. Amen.

1 Chronicles 22:1-23:32, Romans 3:9-31, Psalm 12:1-8, Proverbs 19:13-14

Today is the 16th day of July, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian, it is wonderful to be here with you today as we draw near to the close of another week. But no matter what time demarcation we are paying attention to or traveling to, we’re ultimately taking the next step forward together and that next step will lead us back into the book of first Chronicles in the Old Testament and of course, we are in the letter to the Romans in the New Testament. We’re reading from the New Living Translation this week, first Chronicles chapters 22 and 23 today.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for another week, another week to be in Your word, another week to walk together, another week has passed us by and we are grateful, each and every week for how You speak into our lives, through the Scriptures. We are humbled, we are grateful and we are tasked with being obedient. And so, Holy Spirit, come, how can we, in our own strength accomplish anything that is offered to us. We accomplish by yielding over to You, Your authority in our lives and obeying You and the comfort that that brings, knowing that this is the path that me was walk in and so plant what we’ve read into the soil of our hearts. Help us to see the weeds that are sprouting up that they may be pulled out. Help us to cultivate the fruit of the Spirit, in our lives, yielding a harvest. Not only that transforms the way that we live but transforms life all around us. We pray this in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Hi, DAB family, my name is Betty and I’m calling from Hamburg, New York. I’ve been a long-time listener and love my Daily Audio Bible family. A couple of years back my son Nathan, needed prayer. He had a mental breakdown sort of and he was in the hospital, quite a while. Well, we’ve had a bit of a relapse and he is in hospital again in somewhat of a catatonic state. And I’m just reaching out for prayer again on his behalf that he will have a quick recovery and that’ll him come through this closer to the Lord. He’s a little bit of a fighter in that arena. Thank you, people, for praying. You’re a wonderful family.

Hi, DABers, I’m just calling to just pray a prayer of protection. I just feel that the enemy is really mad right now and that he’s trying to do anything he can to…to thwart us from moving forward and you know what that means? That means, that we are on the right path. So, stay strong DABers. I am just so thankful for all of you and for all of the people who are…are calling in know that…that God is for you, that whenever there is a persecution that is God saying yes, because you are about to get promoted in the Spirit. So, we thank You God, we thank You God for promotions in the Spirit and in the super-natural God, that You can do, you can do anything. And so, we just thank You and I just ask for prayer for this break-through. I am, a decision is being made today. So, I am going to be part of a mastermind entrepreneurship program and this is a huge promotion for me. And it’s like I’ll be surrounded by you know, masterminds. I mean, who am me, who am me. Haha, I’m an English teacher, can you tell? Anyway, who am I? I’m just this little girl, yeah, standing in the kingdom, kingdom entrepreneurship. And this door is opening so I just thank you guys. I just ask that, that I would get in, yeah. In Yashua’s name. Thank you, friends.

Hi family, this is Gordon. I’m calling you because I just listened to today’s message on July 13th and it was about where am I going and if I’m obedient. And for the first time after 18 years, I’m going to be, I put in my resignation, my career path. I’m very scared because I am leaving to start something for anew. And I need to make sure that this is in God’s will and direction. Because it doesn’t matter if it’s just a career choice or whether it be more other series family choices. I think that I need to let God be involved in this decision. I want to make sure it’s in His will, where I’m supposed to go. And I need your prayers so that God can give me that direction. I don’t move without Him telling me where to go first. But I don’t want to do this on my own and do it wrong. So, if you could pray for me, I’d appreciate that. Thank you.

Hello my DAB family. And I’m calling in response to a oh my gosh, I guess I called a combination of a prayer request and praise at the same time but like, all right. There’s a woman who called in today. I heard this message on the 13th of July, so it may have been a few days ago. And I believe she, she didn’t identify her name but your car was broken into and you also reminded me that there’s a trucker gentleman we’ve been praying for that he was broken into as well and identity stolen. You mentioned when someone broke into your car and your identity was stolen and oh my gosh, you touched my heart so much. Because right away, you’re praying for the person who broke into your car. Like, if they need something so badly that they had to break in and you’re praying for them. Oh man, thank you, thank you for that. Thank you for your prayer. And yes, of course, praying for you as your identity was stolen. Years and years ago this happened to me. This is not about me I’m just empathizing with you. But you said, you know what, our identity is in Christ. Our identity is in Jesus Christ. Oh, so true, praise God. And yet, with that, yes we do pray for you, yes, in the name of Jesus, as our identities are stolen, that it not be used for the bad and all the obvious implications that can come from this, I lift my prayer for you. With our fellow DABers in Jesus name. He will have his protection, his loving protection

1 Chronicles 19:1-21:30, Romans 2:25-3:8, Psalms 11:1-7, Proverbs 19:10-12

Today is the 15th day of July welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it is great to be here with you today and every day, but especially today because today is today, and this is the only thing happening. So, it’s great to be here with you today as we take the next step forward. That next step will lead us back into the book of first Chronicles and we’re reading from the New Living Translation this week. Today first Chronicles chapter 19, 20, and 21.

Commentary:

Okay. So, in the book of Romans today Paul is essentially laying out some of the arguments that have been leveled toward the gospel that he is preaching and then speaking to those arguments because some of the things that Paul is saying, some of the things that we sort of take for granted were revolutionary things to be said at the time that Paul is saying them. Like the idea that you can be justified through faith, you just believe and then you are changed and transformed is a new way of understanding. And the idea that obeying the law isn’t actually your accumulated righteousness before God, rather that the law is there, and it shows you because it’s there it shows you when you fail and you are forgiven by grace as opposed to adhering to the law. This is new stuff which made people ask obvious questions. Then like, what’s the point of trying to live up to the law? If we’re forgiven by grace, then basically the worst that we are the more God is glorified. And, so, those are some of the arguments. Like for example Paul says, “some might say our sinfulness serves a good purpose for it helps people see how righteous God is. Isn’t it unfair then for Him to punish us?” In other words, do we not exalt God’s righteousness, even more when it’s contrasted with our own unrighteousness? Paul says, “of course not. If God were not entirely fair, how would He be qualified to judge the world? And then Paul goes on, “someone might still argue, how can God condemn me as a sinner is my dishonesty highlights His truthfulness and brings Him even more glory?” Right? So, the contrast between us and God. The worst we are, the more we make God look good is fundamentally what’s being said here. We’re quoting from the letter to the Romans. “The more we sin the better it is.” Paul says, “those who say those things deserve to be condemned.” So, what we’re looking at here is the ends justifies the means. I can do whatever I want with whoever I want, however I want and there is grace for that. And the more I fail the more glorious God looks because it’s very clear that He is high above us all. And, so, we basically have this scenario where our sin becomes worship to the Lord. It’s a strange thing that their thinking through there. And Paul is saying, that's…those are not good thoughts to have, that’s not true, this is ridiculous. It is not so. And we can read this in the letter go, “dah, like it’s not so. Everybody knows that.” But it’s really interesting to take a step back. Having this kind of material brought up in our lives to consider and then take a step back and look at the things that we do do to justify what we do. And we realize they’re trying to rationalize the ability to do whatever they want to do and then we realize we do the same kinds of things all the time. And there is plenty, plenty to unpack in the book of Romans as we’re just getting going here. So, Paul’s take on this and his understanding of the purpose of the law and his Jewish lens that he’s looking through as he writes this will be fleshed out before us in the days ahead as we take steps forward through the letter to the Romans. But this leaves us as we head toward the weekend with some things to consider, because it’s really interesting how humans, once a line is drawn that we’re not supposed to cross, we try to figure out how we can get around that or we figure out how we can get right to the line. We’re not looking at the line and going, man, that line, if I cross that line I am putting myself in danger. I will be walking a pathway that leads to destruction. Instead, we see how cozy with the wind that we can get. Like, we’re trying to figure out just how hard we can lean on grace. When the truth is, believe me, we are leaning on it plenty already. But willful sin in order to just experience grace and have an idea that God might find glory in that because we are revealing what a failure, we are which reveals what kind of perfection He is…well…according to Paul, this is not how it works. And, so, let’s consider the ways that we tiptoe along those paths that aren’t going to work.

Prayer:

Father, we invite You into that. Holy Spirit, come. We all have stories out of justifying ourselves for just about anything that we want to do regardless of whether it’s healthy or not and that is not right, and we need Your forgiveness, but we need Your leadership. Lead us into all truth, that we might obey in the name of Jesus we ask. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hello DAB community this is One Penny Saved from southwest Missouri, and I just felt compelled to pray for all things who are struggling with mental illness and addiction. And I just hear all the calls and you guys, I am old but when I started struggling with mental illness it wasn’t cool. You know, it was not talked about, and heaven forbid I get on medication. My family would have just thought that was horrible. And, so, I struggled, and I started out at 15 with an eating disorder and was just consumed with fear. And I prayed, I bargained, I pleaded with God to heal me, and I wanted my instant healing. Don’t we all want that? But what would our testimony be that we were healed instantly? So yeah, I did have to struggle, and the word of God is what transformed me. And I didn’t even notice when I was healed. It just…it just happened. A transformation happened just like a…a cocoon and a butterfly. It just happened. So, you guys I love you and just hang in there and stay in the word because the word is what will heal us, and it doesn’t take hard work. It just takes staying in it. It’s a miracle. That’s what God does. The enemy comes to steal kill and destroy but God’s word will totally heal you.

Hi Daily Audio Bible this is Mary from North Carolina I was just calling to ask for prayer. I’ve experienced several health issues throughout my life and especially in last year including dealing with MS and now I’ve got heart issues that I’m going through several tests and treatment for, and I just feel burnt out and spiritually in a dry place. So, I’d appreciate if everyone would pray that God’s will be done and all of this and that I get a refreshing by His Spirit and that depression doesn’t overtake me. I really appreciate everybody. Thank you Hardin family and I pray for everyone that that calls in. Everybody have a blessed day. It is July the 12th. Thank you. Everybody be blessed. Bye-bye.

Hello Daily Audio Bible family this is Justin again from Virginia calling in. I’m calling in, you know, after last week because it’s been a rough few days. When I called last, I was so filled with anxiety and stress it made me sick and I’d been essentially laying in bed for five days. Supposed to go back today and I still will but I only got 2 ½ hours of sleep. I woke up in the middle of the night and felt like I was under attack from stress and anxiety. I wake up and…thoughts would just hit me, and it was almost like I was left in panic, and I just could not sleep. It was so difficult. I got like 2 hours and 45 minutes. So, I need prayer because I feel I’m on empty and I don’t know how I’m supposed to get through the next few days even. I don’t know how I’m supposed to get to work and get better. I don't…I don’t know how. I pray God will make a way and I haven’t heard from him. So, please keep me in your prayers. And I just wanna pray for everyone including myself. Dear God, we’re struggling with anxiety and we’re tired and we’re stressed and we need Your help because we’re empty and we don’t know how to do it without You. So, please God help us. Please.

Hi daily audio Bible family this is Renzo from Florida and I just want to ask for a prayer request. Lately I just been really struggling with what I want to do when I grow up. I know that I gave up what I wanted to do as being I wanted to be a basketball player and I gave that up to seek after God because God told me to do Christian rap and there’s sometimes where I just feel like I want to quit I want to give up, I just…I wanna stop…stop doing Christian rap, but even stop spreading the gospel. There’s sometimes where I have no motivation to do it and I feel down. But I just ask for…just if you guys could keep me in your prayers as I pursue what God wants me to do in my life whether it be street preaching, Christian rap, I don’t know, whatever God wants me to do even if it’s simple, even if it’s working a 9 t 5 five. I have no idea. But I want to do what God calls me to do. But I really appreciate everybody and I thank you guys for everything. God bless you. I’ll always be praying for you guys even if I don’t call in sometimes. God bless you guys. Love you guys. Jesus loves you too. Bye.

Hello DAB family my name is Louis I’m a long-time listener from the beautiful mountain Rockies of Banff Alberta. I…family I’m asking if you could pray for a friend here. Her name is Libby and she’s battling stage four cancer. And I found…finally summed up the courage through this Spirit to talk to her about Jesus and she is receptive and I have this deep conviction that she is a child of God and…and trust that her name is written in this book of life so that she may know His hope Lord. So, please pray with me. Father, I’m asking You good Father to lead Libby to Jesus, draw her to Jesus Father, that she may…she may know the hope…the hope of a renewed body, the hope of seeing her daughter again and the hope above spending eternity with You Lord. Thank You, Father in Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen. So, yes family if you could please keep her in your prayers. Again, her name is Libby. And we are in Alberta Canada. And love you guys very much. I don’t call often at all but been listening for over a decade. So, shout out to all of you long timers. God bless.

1 Chronicles 16:37-18:17, Romans 2:1-24, Psalm 10:16-18, Proverbs 19:8-9

Today is the 14th day of July, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is wonderful to be here with you today, as we gather around the Global Campfire and take the next step forward together. That next step will lead us in the Old Testament, back into the book of first Chronicles and in the New Testament, into the letter to the Romans. We’re reading from the New Living Translation this week, first Chronicles chapter 16 verse 37 through 18 verse 17.

Commentary:

Okay so, in the letter to the Romans today, we read, as we were concluding our reading for today that the Gentiles blasphemed the name of God because of you, which is a very direct thing to say. And now that were kinda getting into the letters of Paul, we should sort of settle into this personality or the way that he writes. It’s very densely packed, but it’s very direct. I mean, to say that your life, your witness, your words make other people blaspheme the Lord, like, if you are the witness for God, then you cause other people to blaspheme the Lord, because of your representation of who God is. That’s direct, maybe that’s even fighting words but that’s direct, and that’s kinda how the apostle Paul is. He was raised a devout Jew from his birth and was a Pharisee, an educated Pharisee in the Mosaic law. One of the most rigorous things to be, would be a Pharisee, in terms of trying to adhere to the Mosaic law and obey it perfectly. And so very often, we find his words to be very direct. And the reason that he’s being direct like this, is that he is calling out hypocrisy. And I mean, we probably all know what hypocrisy is, right, being double-faced or pretending to have a certain lifestyle or spirituality that you actually don’t have in secret, you’re pretending. I mean, basically, we could say, it’s like, it’s kind of like wearing a mask. And not like the COVID masks we had to wear when the pandemics is all going on. Like, all the time, like stepping outside your door and pretending to be something that you’re not or pretending to be more than you really are or pretending to be way less than you really are. But in secret you’re not the same person, hypocrisy. Or to just quote from the letter to the Romans, “when you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you who judge others do these very same things. Since you judge others for doing these things, why do you think you can avoid God’s judgment, when you do the same things?” Paul is essentially trying to expose the, this doesn’t do anything, and this doesn’t go anywhere. And this doesn’t help anybody. And it’s profoundly missing the point of what we’re here to do. Paul says and I quote, “don’t you see how wonderfully, kind, tolerant and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that His kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?” And so, when we understand that we are consuming mountains of grace to live every day, but then turn our eyes and mouths and ears and senses of judgment on other people, for things that we’ve done. That’s pretty hypocritical, especially having the full knowledge that God is fathering us patiently, kindly, He’s being tolerant with us. Because as Paul says, His kindness is intended to turn you from your sin. So how is it that, the, if God’s kindness, woos us and compels us away from evil and the things that would separate us from Him, how is it that we think our judgment without any kindness, tolerance or patience, is gonna woo anybody, anywhere? I mean, if Paul’s right and it is God’s kindness that is intended to turn us away from sin and we are supposed to be like Christ, then wouldn’t it also be true that our kindness and not our hypocrisy, and not our judgment, can be part of God’s work in wooing people away from sin? And so, let’s take some time to consider this today and consider the way in which Paul, sums up the point, if you teach others, why don’t you teach yourself? You tell others not to steal, but do you steal? You say it’s wrong to commit adultery, but do you commit adultery? And we could insert any of the things that are strongholds or have been strongholds and trip us up, that we may judge another person for, when we know full well, how difficult it is to overcome that ourselves and don’t always and put on the costume of the hypocrite. Paul boils it down by saying, no wonder the Scriptures say the Gentiles blasphemed the name of God because of you. And I don’t, I don’t want that. You don’t want that, right? You don’t want to know the people that literally denounce and blaspheme God because of our example of who He is. That is what hypocrisy can do and that is the point and that is why Paul’s being direct. And we might as well buckle up and get used to it, cause now that we’re in the letters the Bible, there are plenty of things that we’re going to need to look at and examine and consider, as we continue our journey forward, step-by-step, day-by-day.

Prayer:

And Father, we thank You, we thank You for that, we thank You that the Scriptures will indeed do a staring contest with us, will look us in the eyes with the voice of truth and not flinch or look away, so that it penetrates within our hearts, so that we can’t sidestep, so that we can’t run away, so that we do have to indeed, deeply consider, what our lives are saying. And may it never be said of us, that someone blasphemed Your name Lord, because of us. And if that has ever happened, forgive us, Lord, we, that is mortifying, and it shows us very clearly that we have a lot of power You have bestowed upon us, the power to be Your ambassadors in this world. May we be nothing less than an accurate portrayal of Your love for us, in the way that it changes everything. Come, Holy Spirit into this, we all need You. Change us from within, show us the path in the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Prayer and Encouragements:

Hello DABers, this is Joyfully Jo. I am calling about Brian’s thoughts at the end of the reading today, July 11th. Just want to say thank you Brian. All you had to say was really beautiful and perfect and I am currently on a little hiatus because I am a caretaker for my mom. And my daughter and my husband graciously told me to take some time off and so I’ve just been getting into God’s word and meditating on it, and I love what you said about honesty, well it’s the Scripture. Honesty is better than righteous, haste makes mistakes. Getting excited before we really understand the situation causes us to make bad choices, slow down and get all the details. I just love that. You also said, I think it was in your prayer, that we need to walk in wisdom more than ever before and not to wear God like a cape or a magical power and you ask for God to lead us into all truth, and all wisdom. And then immediately after that was a caller, she didn’t give her name, but she was so excited about Skip Morgan, faith comes by hearing, hearing, hearing and I just loved your message and I wanted to say thank you for that. And Skip, I’m praying for you. I know about your surgery and I’m praying.

To my brother Travis. Travis, this is your brother Vultamore. I’m going to encourage you. I know you have some angst about being called to the ministry in such a late time in your life. But I too, was called into ministry fairly late in my life. And I learned a long time ago that God doesn’t call the equipped, but He equips the called. And so let me pray for you. Father, in Jesus’ name, I pray that you continuously equip Travis for Your work in his ministry that will bring You glory and honor and that would edify and build up people to Your salvation and to You. And to Your honor, oh God. Father, help him to forge ahead, according to your perfect will in his life. And may he fulfill all the purposes you have for him, in the matchless name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Thanks Travis, love you brother. Talk to you later. Bye.

Good morning, Daily Audio Bible Community. This is Diane Olive and Jeff Brown from Newburg, Indiana. Shalom, shalom, let’s throw our logs on the fire together. Oh, my goodness, I love this readings from Brian today. I just love them; I love the book of Romans. I love, especially chapter 7 which deals with the sins of the flash and chapter 8, that deals with walking in the spirit. This is very helpful for those who called in prayer request today and praise reports. And every single one of them related to me. One talked about a lady that needed prayer, would just open up her heart and told the truth about things she needed. And it was encouraging because I have done that. I have finally opened up my heart and the told the truth about the things I’ve done. And God’s not gonna punish me for that; He’s going to encourage me. So, honey, whoever she prayed for, I agree with you. I agree with you. Lay it all out in the open to God. The devil cannot lie to you anymore. As long as you’re staying honest and above board before Him, confessing your failures, your, the things you struggle with, he can’t use those against you. And forgive yourself. I’ve been my own worst enemy so many times. The hardest thing for me is just forgive my ….

Hi, this is Lavishly Loved by the Lord. I’ve been a DAB listener now for little over a year and I’ve been called in, maybe twice, for the same problem. I’ve been praying now for about three years that I could get a new position at work. At work, things have been getting increasingly harder, more difficult, more challenging and the light at the end of the tunnel, is slowly disappearing. And I wasn’t sure I could do it anymore. So, I applied for a position, when it was over, I was told that it was given to somebody else but that someone on the team is going to resign, moving out of town and they wanted to offer me that position. While I was waiting for that to happen, I applied for another position and after the interview is over, I received an email stating that the first position was given to somebody else. My safety net, gone. My backup plan, gone. All my eggs now are in the one basket. Well, I finally got an email stating that that second position I applied for, was given to someone else. So, I prayed about it. And I said, okay, Lord, this is where you want me to stay so, Holy Spirit, help me get through it. Started changing gears and getting ready for the new year to be positive and have a good year. Got home from work and received a phone call stating that it was the situation of everybody thought the other person had called me. But the position that I was promised was officially mine and it only took three years. So, if you’re in an impossible situation and you don’t think the Lord is listening, He is, just be patient, keep praying. Know that the Lord loves you and He’s working behind the scenes to make what’s the best outcome for you, come to fruition. I love you. Have a great day, keep praying. Keep the faith. Bye.

Hi, I’m Sherry Youngward. I’ve been listening to DAB for many, many, many years but I’ve only called a couple times. I’m actually taking my version of the long walk today, July 12th because on the 7th I was recovering from COVID, and my long walk was celebrating I could go from my bedroom to the kitchen and fry and egg. So, I’m doing a little better. And right before I put my phone away, I just want to say that I’m so grateful for this community and all that you all mean to me, knowing that when somebody calls and puts in a prayer request and the voice starts to crack and they fall apart, just know that, in a few days so many people are gonna call and stand by their side and pray for them. I just love the compassion and just the care of this community. And when Brian made an announcement a while back about going to Israel, but he kind of left us in suspense about this secret announcement. Just for a second, I thought oh no, is he leaving.  Did Elon Musk buy the Daily Audio Bible? Okay, I didn’t that, but I did just think for a second, what if I didn’t have this. So, I just wanted to call to say I’m so grateful. I just want to pray for this community, pray for the Hardin’s. Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill and refresh and revive, Lord and bless in every way. Plus, those that are struggling today, Lord. Spark hope, in Jesus’ name.
