Ezekiel 3:16-6:14, Hebrews 4:1-16, Psalms 104:24-35, Proverbs 26:27

Today is the 2nd day of November welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian and it is great to be here with you today as we gather around the Global Campfire and continue to move into this brand-new 11th month of the year together and take the next step forward in the Scriptures together, which will lead us, actually lead us into territory that we’re moving into in both old and new Testaments. We’ve just gotten ourselves going in the book of Ezekiel and in the letter to the Hebrews. So, that’s where we will continue forward today. We’re reading from the English Standard Version this week. Ezekiel chapter 3 verse 16 through 6 verse 14.

Commentary:

Okay. So, in the book of Hebrews today we encountered one of the most famous passages in the Scriptures and one of the most famous passages certainly in the letter to the Hebrews – “for the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joints and marrow. It exposes our in our innermost thoughts and desires.” Super famous passage. Very similar for…for we who are around the Global Campfire going through the Scriptures every day all the way through the Scriptures every year. Very similar to what we read in second Timothy where we were told “all Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” These couple of passages, second Timothy and Hebrews today describe the why of what we’re doing, why we’re coming around this global campfire every day. We do this because the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. There isn’t a year that we come through the book of Hebrews and encounter this verse that I don’t stop and think about it even more year upon year year-over-year. The word of God is so precise that it can penetrate or cut to where soul and spirit divide. I don’t even know where that is. But what I do know is that it is at the depth or the core of our being. Perhaps it’s where our true self, our spirit and our personality or our ego meet. Wherever it is, it is core, it is essential, and it is deeper than anything else that we haven’t known to man can go. Like the joints and marrow part of that verse we can understand. So, like okay, so it can go deep inside, and we have instruments that can go where joints and marrow are, but we don’t have instruments that can go where spirit and soul meet except that we are being told that there is such an instrument if we want to call it an instrument. It’s the word of God. It can get to the core of things, the deepest depths, the place where soul and spirit meet. In some ways I think of this as the point where what is true and what we are presenting meet. Like, its right there at the depths of our core, bringing truth and challenging what is false. It’s just so few things that can even approach that. And this is one of the core reasons were showing up here every day because the word of God is one such thing. So, unless we want to just delude ourselves and make up a reality as it comes to us, then we need such a thing to challenge what is false. Otherwise, we’re going to be believing all kinds of things that are false and not even knowing it. The word of God is there to set it straight and point us in a direction that we should go. It cuts through all of the things that we present. It cuts through personality. It speaks truth into the things that we use to cope. It speaks truth to our true hopes. It speaks truth to the wounds of our lives that have shaped our story. It reaches the deepest truest part of who we are, the part made in the image of God. Like, there’s just nothing else that can that. And let’s think about it. Does us reading the word of God somehow magically reveal to God what is the truth of who we are versus what we present? Not likely. He probably already knows. And, so, if we are being cut to the place, if we have an instrument that can reach the place where soul and spirit divide who can benefit from that? God already knows. It’s for us. It can speak the truth into the deepest parts of who we truly are. This is why we come around the Global Campfire every day, brothers and sisters. This is why we are here. If there was ever a time to be led into all truth, it’s now. And, so, thanks be to God that we have this gift that does what it doe. And if we’re in this rhythm and we’re showing up every day and we know that the Bible has a way of touching everything over the course of a year. So many things get challenged, the false in us, indeed, gets challenged. And when the false gets challenged, we realize we are at another crossroads. And wisdom is there, pointing the way to go if we’ll pay attention. We need this more than ever. And, so, we should be supremely grateful not only for…for the Global Campfire, for each other, that we can go through this together but that it exists, that God gave a tangible gift in the Scriptures for us that will speak truth to us, that will lead us and guide us and that informs us who God is and what God is like and that tells us that there is a Holy Spirit that is here to be an advocate and a comforter and that will…who will lead us into all truth. And, so, let’s be grateful today for the word of God.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You deeply. We do it all the time. We thank You for Your word. We thank You for the Scriptures. We thank You for the tangible gift. We thank You for what is inside the Scriptures and how from all kinds of different angles, through all kinds of different stories and histories we are able to look through the Scriptures and find them as a mirror into our own soul, exactly what is being said here in Hebrews today. We thank You for that. There’s nothing else that can do that. And, so, Holy Spirit come lead us into all truth. Lead us deeper into Jesus. Lead us deeper into our relationship with the Scriptures. May we understand how You are leading us and what You are challenging with in us, and may we respond with humility, open hearts and open arms, we pray. In Jesus’ name, we ask. Amen.

dailyaudiobible.com is home base and that is where you can find out what’s going on around here. The alternative to that would be the Daily Audio Bible app, which you can download from whatever app store is associated with your device. Just look for Daily Audio Bible and you can download the app. It’s free and it’s the way to go if you want to kinda keep track of where you are in your progress through the Bible. So, check that out.

What is going on around here right now is the launch and release of this new resource of and by and for this community. It’s called Sleep, a contemplative journey. I’ve shared the whole story along the way. It released yesterday. And, so, to get up and sort of see what that looks like, it was very heartwarming, it made me smile, made me so proud of our community here to…to see sleep debut at number one, the number one Christian album and the number two album of all albums. And we couldn’t I guess beat…not that we were in a competition, but I guess Taylor Swift is still bigger in that world for sure, but it’s nice for us to just kinda show up there. It’s so interesting to watch how that reverberates. Now people who aren’t even necessarily believers encounter resources like this and go, wow, like I could use that and then find their way here around the Global Campfire. And, so, it’s a joy. And, so, Sleep, a contemplative journey is available wherever it is that you get your music and by that, I mean wherever you get your music that you stream on your phone or your device. All of the streaming services, have Sleep, a contemplative journey. So, iTunes, Apple music, Spotify, Tidal, wherever it is that you get your music. Check it out. It was created to make space for our souls to find rest. So, sleep is now available. So, there was Heart, a contemplative journey and now there is Sleep, a contemplative journey. And I pray that it is a resource that makes your sleep sweet and that you wake up full of hope.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Good morning DAB family it’s Debbie from Queensland Australia. Just calling in after listening to October 26th. Woman in Texas, so grateful to hear your praise report and your husband is at home more now. God is great and His mercy endures forever. Everything happens for a reason. You mentioned that your Fender Bender has brought up trauma. I feel God is using this situation as an opportunity to shine light on that trauma, to bring truth love forgiveness, to orchestrate freedom. Chris Anne glory to God for bringing another dog into your life. They have such great companions. Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name I ask the chains of both of your situations be broken, that truth, love, forgiveness are abundant in your lives. Lord, I ask that You set my sister’s free in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

This is Taylor from Florida I’m responding on October 30th Daily Audio Bible. It’s just gonna be for two people about two people having basically the same issue. There was a gentleman who called about anger issues he was having towards his son-in-law. And then the other one was a young lady at the end who was very angry at somebody for what they had done to her. And, so, in both of those obviously you can’t __ in anger. You have to give it to the Lord. And the best way to do that is to cry out in forgiveness, that, you know, to forgive those people for what they’ve done. And it's…and it’s a confession of your mouth. It’s not…your heart will follow and it may take…it may time. But you have to just speak out, speak what you want, which is you don’t want to act out in anger, you don’t wanna act out in viloence. So, Father God I ask you to teach these two people. Both of them sounded very genuine in their…in their desire to be free and to not be bound by unforgiveness or anger. Lord, You know I’ve been there so many times and I thank You for freeing me from that, from past to angers and for wrongs done to me. So, I thank You for that Lord Jesus and we believe it in Your name. Amen.

This is Chris from York PA listening to October 30th community prayer the gentleman called in who had lost everything, had a business for three years, couldn’t catch all that you said the beginning, but I think I got the gist of it. I know I had a business for three years that failed. Wasn’t totally broke so I’m very grateful to God about that. That was back in the early 90s. And things got better. That was a really tough time, especially in my marriage, giving myself pay cuts every six months or so until we ran out of money. And it was a tough time but…but God was good and He got me back on my feet and He’ll do the same for you. Just trust in Him. People are gonna let you down but there’s jobs out there. If you are reliable and can show up and are willing to work hard you can get back on your feet. Just don’t give up. Don’t give up on God. You know, He may or may…may not have led you into that business or He did and it was to teach you something. So, try to determine from reading scripture and prayer what God was trying to teach you and it’ll get better. So, you hang in there. Don’t give up. Keep listening, keep reading your Bible and God will be there for you. Take care.

Praying for my brother in Georgia the Protector praying oh God that You would just give him Father God just the wisdom and insight Lord God that he needs Father God in dealing with his grandbabies dad Lord God and even his daughter. Lord we pray that You would Father God work on his daughter’s heart Lord God…Lord God give her clarity Lord God and where she is in her life Lord God. We pray oh God that You would bring her back Lord God to…to the church Lord God bring her back to holy and righteous living. And we pray Father God that my brother Lord God will walk in the spirit and not in the flesh Lord, that he oh Lord will put his…his daughter, his granddaughter, and even…even the Father of the baby Father on the altar and put them before You oh God and let You O Lord God take the wheel. And we just give You praise and glory for Your blessings in Jesus’ name.

Hey Daily Audio Bible family this is people on the water from Indiana and I’m calling in today for two reasons, maybe three. The first reason is to say that I love you. Secondly, I heard this gentleman call in on Sunday the last day in October and I had to rewind the message because he really caught me off guard. You talked about how you hope God brings you death and that really hurt my heart. So, I just want to lift you up. I guess you’ve been lifted up already and now you want somebody to take action and I don’t know what that looks like for you right now, but I believe in a God who is outside of the box, who is outside of the church, who is outside of himself as well. He’s also the God who can take care of you and can feed you and clothe you, not just physically but spiritually. So, I pray, and I almost trust and hope like, who Jesus was that I might here you call in again, that your life may be changed like big time. Thirdly I am… I’m dealing with some relational stuff with family and my girlfriend and friends and I’m just asking for help. So, yeah. Alright. Love you guys.

Hi everyone, it’s Christy in Kentucky. I wanted to call in and let you know that we are listening and praying along with you. Today, I wanted to call in specifically to speak to Joe the protector. Oh, my brother it’s so nice to hear your voice again. Haven’t heard from you in a long time. And I just wanted to share my story with you Joe. My husband has two sons from a previous marriage. I have no biological children. One of his children now has a child with another lady and she had three other children before our little grandbaby came into the world. When our granddaughter was first born they shared her so sweetly with us and it was something new to me because both sons had pretty much not wanted anything to do with me. We were older when we got married and they were older teenagers pretty much set in their ways and just didn’t want to share their dad. So, I was completely blessed when our granddaughter was born. So, beautiful. We had such a lovely time for the first three years but it was on her 4th birthday that things just fell apart and it is a long story but just to say that the lady that is the mother of our granddaughter turned on me viciously and we have not seen our granddaughter in three years and it is breaking our heart. But Joe all we can do is pray and put these individuals in the hands of the Lord and ask Him to bring someone into their lives that can introduce them to Him.
