Deuteronomy 5:1-6:25, Luke 7:11-35, Psalms 68:19-35, Proverbs 11:29-31

Today is the 26th day of March welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it is great to be here with you today moving our way forward, moving our way toward the weekend. We’re coming around the Global Campfire together be together to spend time together to allow the Scriptures to speak into our lives and our motivations and our situations and it’s great to be here. It’s great to be here every day. And, so, let’s take that next step forward. We’re reading from the English Standard Version this week. In the Old Testament we are reading from the book of Deuteronomy the Last things that Moses has to say. As we will recall, three different discourses in the book of Deuteronomy and we’ve moved our way through the first one and we are now, like we just kinda got the prologue yesterday but we’re now in the second of the three discourses. Deuteronomy chapters 5 and 6.

Commentary:

Okay. So, in the book of Deuteronomy, we’re in this second discourse where Moses is saying to the people everything that he needs to say, everything that God has told him to say. These are the last things that he’s going to say. He’s gonna be absent from their presence because he’s going to…well…he will disappear into history. He is going to die. And, so, these are the final things that he needs to say. So, some of this is review. Like for example, today he reviewed what we…what we would call the 10 Commandments, these main commandments that are guiding, that are like centerpieces of the culture that is being formally and he reviews this and he reviews the fact that God had come down upon the mountain to speak directly to the people but the people were afraid and in awe of God and so they asked essentially asked Moses to be the spokesperson for God which is in effect asking Moses to be the prophet. And then we come to a central foundational like declaration, what is a prayer until this very day, “hear O Israel the Lord our God, the Lord is one.” A profound declaration that there is but one God and only one God. And in introducing that Moses is laying out a posture that the people are to espouse, a posture of heart that is supposed to be the normal, the default way of living and being. Hear O Israel the Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way when you lie down and when you rise, you shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes and you shall write them on the door posts of your house and on your gates.” In other words, you must not forget any of this. This must become a part of the fabric of your life, the default, the normal. This is the posture of this new culture. This is the posture of this new people that is being raised up. And he puts that out there and we need to take it on board and live into it completely ourselves, but he puts that out there and then he begins to give a warning about what it’s gonna be like when they get over the Jordan. Like when they get cross the Jordan and they succeed at conquering the people’s and dispossessing the land and taking the land and forming the land and then dividing the land up into the different tribal lands and they become one people in this land and they have inherited all kinds of cities that they didn’t build and crops that they didn’t plan and things are going well. And that's…that’s the essence of this. When you get through the wilderness and you get to the Jordan River and it’s time to crossover and you’re thinking about that you…that you’re realizing that you are at the beginning of the end of your wilderness experience and you are about to enter the land of promise and your dreaming about what that’s gonna be like, that’s essentially what Moses is saying here. And boy does that apply to our lives. And Moses counsel is when you get through the trial, when you get through the battle, when you get to the other side and you’re in the promised land and things start to get easy for you don’t forget this posture because if you forget this posture, then you’re gonna fall away, you’re gonna forget that God brought you out of slavery, you’re gonna forget that He brought you through the wilderness and shifted your identity and gave you an identity that wasn’t slavery. If you forget than you’re gonna get arrogant. You’re gonna oppress people, you’re gonna fall away from God, you’re going to chase other gods you’re going to transgress the covenant and destroy yourself. Don’t forget what God has done to bring you this far. That’s what Moses is telling the children of Israel, but does it not feel so immediate to us? Is this not good counsel for us as we continue to navigate forward?

Now as we turn the page and go into the book of Luke, we have Jesus doing his ministry healing people, revealing the kingdom of God, teaching the people, comforting the people and pretty interesting juxtaposition today because Jesus raises someone from the dead as they were being carried out of the city to be buried and the next thing you know the disciples of John coming up to Jesus and asking Him if He’s the one. And this lets us understand the expectations of the time surrounding the Messiah. So, if Jesus is the Messiah, the Anointed One, then He is someone that was expected because of prophetic utterances that it comes centuries before. So, it wasn’t like they weren’t looking for a messianic figure, but they were reading into the culture of the time what the Messiah would do, and they felt like they really didn’t need a Messiah to come because they were a people that were occupied, they were people landlocked by the Roman Empire. They were a people inside the Empire. So, even though they were in their ancestral homeland it had not been under their rule and governance other than for short rebellious…rebellions it hadn’t been in their possession for over a millennia. But they were there in their ancestral homeland. This promised land that we’re talking about in the in the book of Deuteronomy, they were there in that land, but it was now a part of the Roman empire. They wanted a Messiah who would come and sort of defeat this global superpower of Rome, throw them out of the land so that the land could be under Hebrew rule again and restored back to God. And the Messiah, the Anointed One would be able to bring everything together, all of the components together that would…that would enact that. So, even though John the Baptist knew he was preparing the way of the Lord and was calling the people back to God as a prophet, and even though Jesus submitted to baptism and John baptized Him in the Jordan River, even though all of this has happened John is now arrested and he’s sending these messages…these messengers to Jesus, to say, “are You the real One? Are You the One we were looking for or should we be looking for somebody else?” It’s a fascinating question that allows us to understand what the expectations were. People were looking at what Jesus was doing, thinking He might be the Anointed One. And then all of the expectations of the anointed one are read into and put upon Jesus. Is he going to be able to get a militia together? Like, is He gonna be able to get people who are willing to die, who are going to go fight the Romans, who are going to go try to take over Jerusalem, to try to take over the capital? Is this what’s gonna happen? And Jesus response is very very important. They expected Jesus to certainly be godly and anointed and that He would lead the people back to God, but He would lead the people back to God first by war, by takeover. Jesus response to that and specifically to John’s disciples so they can go tell John is, “go tell John what you’re seeing. Go tell John what you’re hearing. The blind are receiving their site. The lame walking, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have good news preached to them and blessed is the one who isn’t offended by me.” What Jesus is saying is, “I am the one. And I am doing exactly what I came to do. I am restoring the people. I am revealing the kingdom. I am showing you that there is another way to be and it’s a good way to be, because it’s the normal. It’s what you were designed to be. You’re supposed to be in this world doing what I’m doing. I am revealing the kingdom.” So, in other words, the kingdom Jesus is revealing is different than the kingdom they are expecting. The kingdom they are expecting is one that will be established by the ultimate takeover and removal of the…of the governing power. The kingdom Jesus is operating in is one that is after the hearts of mankind, because if you capture the hearts of mankind anything and everything can change but if you just go take over a building or you just go take over a nation…well…then there’s only gonna be retaliation. Like it’s only going to cause problems that are ongoing and there are ongoing problems in the world today that go back thousands of years because of rifts and injustices between peoples and we find this in the Bible. This isn’t the way forward, that you just finally defeat everybody. The way that you defeat everybody, at least in God’s kingdom, at least according to Jesus is through love. You capture and turn the heart through love. The kingdom is revealed and comes crashing in and then once that happens inside of a person they become transformed, they can’t see things the same way anymore, things of shifted. We who follow Jesus, we should know this, this should’ve actually been our experience. But now we look through the eyes and the understanding of our faith and we look at things differently. The trouble is that all too often we don’t. All too often we’re just pulled back into the culture and we’re worshiping at that altar instead of raising up our eyes and seeing that when the good news when the kingdom comes breaking in it brings restoration and life like a river cutting a channel through the desert. So, it begs the question what we are expecting of Jesus. I mean, are we in the same boat? We just…we need him to beat up the bad guys? We need Him to kinda move the obstacles out of our way, the things that we can’t overcome our own, the things that we just wish were different? We just need him to beat up the bad guys? Or are we understanding that we’re a part of that story and there’s a whole different way of looking at things. And we can have eyes to see and we can see that the kingdom coming isn’t out of armed rebellion or some kind of military overthrow, the kingdom comes when we see the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, lepers cleansed, deaf hear, dead are raised up, the poor have good news preached to them, and blessed is the one who isn’t offended by that because that is the way of Christ

Prayer:

Father, we invite You into this. There’s a lot here, a lot to consider in today’s reading. That happens so often where we can move back into the day and just get distracted and in an hour we will forget all of it or we can meditate upon it, we can allow…allow it to sit there and just keeps speaking to our hearts and minds, that there’s a posture, that there’s a way, that there’s a way to see, that there…there’s a way to hear, there’s a posture of heart that is in alignment with how we were created to be and when we are acting how we were created to be we are in alignment with You. Come Holy Spirit, plant this in our hearts and lives we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

Good afternoon Daily Audio Bible family this is my first-time calling in. I’ve been listening for…this is my third year and I felt led to call but to call in after participating in the prayer wall online last weekend. It was so amazing to be a part of it even just for that short time. It was just so wonderful to play for others. I went there to ask for prayer, but I got even more out of writing prayers for others and it made me think about when other people have called in and they’ve thanked people for calling in asking for prayer. I never quite understood that fully but after going to the prayer wall and writing out prayer for other people I realized that it really is a blessing to get…it’s a privilege to get to pray for others because I…I got to talk to God while I was praying for others and it was just really wonderful. So, thank you so much everyone. Thank you so much Brian for this podcast it has really blessed my life and I’m so happy to be a part of it and getting even more involved. I would like to pray for myself this Thursday. Today is Sunday March 21st and this Thursday I have a __ surgery coming up. So, I would just ask for your prayers that all goes well, and I look forward to hearing all your continued prayers and to keep praising you all. So, God bless have a great day. Bye.

Good morning Brian thank you. Thank you DAB family. My name is Allison and…well…I just want to say that I am just thankful for Daily Audio Bible. I am new to Daily Audio Bible. I started January 1st and I just want to give God the praise and I just ask for prayer. I have an exam coming up to become a substance abuse counselor. Keep me in prayer that I am not nervous and safe travels. Have to travel over an hour to get to the exam. But also, I just want to pray for everyone that listens to Daily Audio Bible and Brian. And I wanted to say Father in the name of Jesus thank You for this prayer group, thank You for Daily Audio Bible. We desire that our prayers avail much. We are individuals who are mutually dependent on one another, having gifts that differ according to the grace given us, we who with unveiled faces all reflect Your glory are being transformed into Your likeness with ever increasing glory which comes from You who are the Spirit. Father, we realize that You know what we have need of before we ask and that we are not all growing in the same manner or on the same time schedule, but we are growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. So, have a blessed day Daily Audio Bible family in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen and Amen. Thank you. And thank you Brian and your family and just be blessed. Have a blessed rest of the day and year.

A couple days ago I heard this from someone, that many millions __ yesterday and possibly tomorrow but only one today. So, where do we want to be? For sure in the present with the presence of our Savior. He’s aware of all of our mistakes and He has forgiven us, so we don’t have to live there anymore. He knows our joys and our sorrows, and He hears our cries. He answers before we call, and He hears us as we speak. In this present moment Lord, I…please hear the prayer of my heart as I call on you on behalf of Steve from Maryland who lost his wife five years ago leaving him with five kids. His 14-year-old son has been struggling through covid with his schooling and all the other issues of maternal loss and so on. And Steve has had to be a single dad with these kids helping to organize their life. Now his son is also losing his sister to a jail term and his one daughter is having a baby next month. So, these are tremendous amount of stuff being poured on him. And, so, I’m asking You the God of our very present please reach out to him, touch his life, enable him to manage and be with the children, be with his daughter as she goes to jail. May she receive a word from Christ while she’s there and turn her life around. Hear his prayers…

They come to the garden alone while the dew is still on the roses and the voice, I hear falling on my ear the son of God discloses. And He walks with me and He talks with me and He tells me I am His own and the joy we share as we tarry there none other has ever known. He speaks and the sound of His voice is so sweet the birds hush the singing and the melody that He gave to me within my heart is ringing. I’d stay in the garden with Him though the night around me be falling, but he bids me go through the voice of woe his voice to me is calling. This is God’s Smile here and aren’t those words just lovely? That old hymn. And that’s it…that’s it from me. I just wanted to read that hymn out and send my love. Kiss kiss everybody.

Deuteronomy 5-6

The Ten Commandments

And Moses summoned all Israel and said to them, “Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the rules that I speak in your hearing today, and you shall learn them and be careful to do them. (A)The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. (B)Not with our fathers did the Lord make this covenant, but with us, who are all of us here alive today. The Lord spoke with you (C)face to face at the mountain, out of the midst of the fire, (D)while I stood between the Lord and you at that time, to declare to you the word of the Lord. For (E)you were afraid because of the fire, and you did not go up into the mountain. He said:

(F)“‘I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

“‘You shall have no other gods before[a] me.

“‘You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 10 but showing steadfast love to (G)thousands[b] of those who love me and keep my commandments.

11 “‘You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.

12 “‘Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. 13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 14 but (H)the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter or your male servant or your female servant, or your ox or your donkey or any of your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates, (I)that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. 15 (J)You shall remember that you were a slave[c] in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there (K)with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

16 “‘Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God commanded you, (L)that your days may be long, and that it may go well with you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

17 (M)“‘You shall not murder.[d]

18 (N)“‘And you shall not commit adultery.

19 “‘And you shall not steal.

20 “‘And you shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

21 “‘And you shall not covet your neighbor's wife. And you shall not desire your neighbor's house, his field, or his male servant, or his female servant, his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.’

22 “These words the Lord spoke to all your assembly (O)at the mountain out of the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, with a loud voice; and he added no more. And (P)he wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me. 23 And (Q)as soon as you heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, while the mountain was burning with fire, you came near to me, all the heads of your tribes, and your elders. 24 And you said, ‘Behold, the Lord our God has shown us his glory and (R)greatness, and (S)we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire. This day we have seen God speak with man, and man (T)still live. 25 Now therefore why should we die? For this great fire will consume us. (U)If we hear the voice of the Lord our God any more, we shall die. 26 (V)For who is there of all flesh, that has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of fire as we have, and has still lived? 27 Go near and hear all that the Lord our God will say, and (W)speak to us all that the Lord our God will speak to you, and we will hear and do it.’

28 “And the Lord heard your words, when you spoke to me. And the Lord said to me, ‘I have heard the words of this people, which they have spoken to you. (X)They are right in all that they have spoken. 29 (Y)Oh that they had such a heart as this always, to fear me and to keep all my commandments, (Z)that it might go well with them and with their descendants[e] forever! 30 Go and say to them, “Return to your tents.” 31 But you, stand here by me, and (AA)I will tell you the whole commandment and the statutes and the rules that you shall teach them, that they may do them in the land that I am giving them to possess.’ 32 You shall be careful therefore to do as the Lord your God has commanded you. (AB)You shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. 33 (AC)You shall walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live, and (AD)that it may go well with you, and that you may live long in the land that you shall possess.

The Greatest Commandment

“Now this is (AE)the commandment—the statutes and the rules[f]—that the Lord your God commanded me to teach you, that you may do them in the land to which you are going over, to possess it, that (AF)you may fear the Lord your God, you and your son and your son's son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life, and (AG)that your days may be long. Hear therefore, O Israel, and be careful to do them, that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, (AH)as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

“Hear, O Israel: (AI)The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[g] You (AJ)shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And (AK)these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. (AL)You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. (AM)You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. (AN)You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

10 “And when the Lord your God brings you into the land that he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you—with great and good cities (AO)that you did not build, 11 and houses full of all good things that you did not fill, and cisterns that you did not dig, and vineyards and olive trees that you did not plant—and when you eat and are full, 12 (AP)then take care lest you forget the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. 13 It is (AQ)the Lord your God you shall fear. Him you shall serve and (AR)by his name you shall swear. 14 You shall not (AS)go after other gods, (AT)the gods of the peoples who are around you— 15 for (AU)the Lord your God in your midst (AV)is a jealous God—(AW)lest the anger of the Lord your God be kindled against you, and he destroy you from off the face of the earth.

16 (AX)“You shall not put the Lord your God to the test, (AY)as you tested him at Massah. 17 You shall (AZ)diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies and his statutes, which he has commanded you. 18 (BA)And you shall do what is right and good in the sight of the Lord, that it may go well with you, and that you may go in and take possession of the good land that the Lord swore to give to your fathers 19 (BB)by thrusting out all your enemies from before you, as the Lord has promised.

20 (BC)“When your son asks you in time to come, ‘What is the meaning of the testimonies and the statutes and the rules that the Lord our God has commanded you?’ 21 then you shall say to your son, (BD)‘We were Pharaoh's slaves in Egypt. And the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand. 22 And (BE)the Lord showed signs and wonders, great and grievous, against Egypt and against Pharaoh and all his household, before our eyes. 23 And he brought us out from there, that he might bring us in and give us the land that he swore to give to our fathers. 24 And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, (BF)to fear the Lord our God, (BG)for our good always, that (BH)he might preserve us alive, as we are this day. 25 And (BI)it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to do all this commandment before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us.’

Luke 7:11-35

Jesus Raises a Widow's Son

11 Soon afterward[a] he went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a great crowd went with him. 12 As he drew near to the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out, (A)the only son of his mother, and she was a widow, and a considerable crowd from the town was with her. 13 And when the Lord saw her, (B)he had compassion on her and (C)said to her, “Do not weep.” 14 Then he came up and touched (D)the bier, and the bearers stood still. And he said, “Young man, I say to you, (E)arise.” 15 And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus[b] (F)gave him to his mother. 16 Fear seized them all, and (G)they glorified God, saying, (H)“A great prophet has arisen among us!” and (I)“God has visited his people!” 17 And this report about him spread through the whole of Judea and all the surrounding country.

Messengers from John the Baptist

18 (J)(K)The disciples of John reported all these things to him. And John, 19 calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to the Lord, saying, “Are you the one (L)who is to come, or (M)shall we look for another?” 20 And when the men had come to him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to you, saying, ‘Are you the one (N)who is to come, or (O)shall we look for another?’” 21 In that hour (P)he healed many people of diseases and plagues and evil spirits, and (Q)on many who were blind he bestowed sight. 22 And he answered them, “Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: (R)the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, (S)lepers[c] are cleansed, and (T)the deaf hear, (U)the dead are raised up, (V)the poor have good news preached to them. 23 And blessed is the one who is (W)not offended by me.”

24 When John's messengers had gone, Jesus[d] began to speak to the crowds concerning John: “What did you go out (X)into the wilderness to see? (Y)A reed shaken by the wind? 25 What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Behold, those who are dressed in splendid clothing and live in luxury are in kings' courts. 26 What then did you go out to see? (Z)A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. 27 This is he of whom it is written,

(AA)“‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face,
who will prepare your way before you.’

28 I tell you, among those born of women none is greater than John. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.” 29 ((AB)When all the people heard this, and (AC)the tax collectors too, they declared God just,[e] (AD)having been baptized with (AE)the baptism of John, 30 (AF)but the Pharisees and (AG)the lawyers (AH)rejected (AI)the purpose of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him.)

31 “To what then shall I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like? 32 They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another,

“‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.’

33 For John the Baptist has come (AJ)eating no bread and (AK)drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ 34 The Son of Man has come (AL)eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, (AM)a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ 35 Yet (AN)wisdom is justified by all her children.”

Psalm 68:19-35

19 Blessed be the Lord,
who daily (A)bears us up;
God is our salvation. Selah
20 Our God is a God of salvation,
(B)and to God, the Lord, belong deliverances from death.
21 (C)But God will strike the heads of his enemies,
the hairy crown of him who walks in his guilty ways.
22 The Lord said,
“I will bring them back (D)from Bashan,
(E)I will bring them back from the depths of the sea,
23 that you may (F)strike your feet in their blood,
that (G)the tongues of your dogs may have their portion from the foe.”

24 Your procession is[a] seen, O God,
the procession of my God, my King, into the sanctuary—
25 (H)the singers in front, (I)the musicians last,
between them (J)virgins playing tambourines:
26 (K)“Bless God in the great congregation,
the Lord, O you[b] who are of (L)Israel's fountain!”
27 There is (M)Benjamin, the least of them, in the lead,
the princes of Judah in their throng,
the princes of (N)Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali.

28 (O)Summon your power, O God,[c]
the power, O God, by which you have worked for us.
29 Because of your temple at Jerusalem
kings shall (P)bear gifts to you.
30 Rebuke (Q)the beasts that dwell among the reeds,
the herd of (R)bulls with the calves of the peoples.
(S)Trample underfoot those who lust after tribute;
scatter the peoples who delight in war.[d]
31 Nobles shall come from (T)Egypt;
(U)Cush shall hasten to (V)stretch out her hands to God.

32 (W)O kingdoms of the earth, sing to God;
sing praises to the Lord, Selah
33 to him (X)who rides in (Y)the heavens, the ancient heavens;
behold, he (Z)sends out his voice, his mighty voice.
34 (AA)Ascribe power to God,
whose majesty is over Israel,
and whose (AB)power is in (AC)the skies.
35 (AD)Awesome is God from his[e] (AE)sanctuary;
the God of Israel—he is the one who gives (AF)power and strength to his people.
Blessed be God!

Deuteronomy 4:1-49, Luke 6:39-7:10, Psalms 68:1-18, Proverbs 11:28

Today is the 25th day of March welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is wonderful to be here with you today as we continue to sail through this week, sail through this month, and sail through this year and sail through the Bible. And, so, let’s dive in. In the Old Testament we…we’re getting ourselves moved into the book of Deuteronomy. We’ve had a couple of days in Deuteronomy, we’re kinda familiar with what’s going on now. Deuteronomy is the last things that Moses has to say to the children of Israel. And, so, there’s plenty of reminders in there, plenty of things that we may kinda be like, “haven’t I heard that before?” And yes, you probably have. This is what Moses has to say to remind the people because he is about to recede, and Joshua is about to take over and Moses will disappear from history. He is about to die. And as I’ve said, we’ve been with Moses for quite a while now. He’s been a very major figure in the story. And, so, it does us good to honor the book of Deuteronomy, to honor his last words as if we were among the children of Israel and putting ourselves in their story. And, so, let’s pick it up. Deuteronomy chapter 4 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, in the book of Deuteronomy as we said…well…I mean I guess this our fourth…is this our fourth day in Deuteronomy? I think it is as. As we’ve said every day since we’ve been in Deuteronomy, Deuteronomy is these three speeches or talks or discourses, like the final important things that he has to say to the entire congregation of…of Israel as he prepares…as he prepares to die, as Joshua prepares to take over and take the people cross the Jordan River. So, we concluded the first of those talks today and we may have noticed that because we got to the end of that talk and then we began this sort of introduction, like where we’re going next, the next things that Moses is going to say. And in this first talk Moses reminds the people of their covenant with God and that there is no other God that they are in covenant with because there is no other God. And if they are to attempt to chase after other gods that going to destroy themselves because they are in covenant. They are under authority. They belong to God. They are His people. And this will be evidenced by their obedience to what they have been told, the way that they are to set up their culture as they go forward. But if they choose not to listen, not to obey, not to heed then things are not going to go so well. And we’ll get a front row seat of watching that struggle as we continue our journey through the Scriptures.

But it’s kind of stark similarity when we turn into the New Testament and we hear Jesus saying, “why do you call me the Lord and not do what I tell you?” And if we had to think both of what Moses is trying to instill in the people of Israel and look at what Jesus is saying to His hearers, what are they cautioning against? Generally, they’re cautioning against our propensity to put ourselves on the throne, that we are the sovereign, and that we will worship whoever, however, whenever, wherever we like, which is in stark contrast…contrast to being utterly and hopelessly dependent. One of the greatest battles in the human heart is who sits on the throne, right? Because the whole system is set up that if you can be sitting on throne then you are in control and you are in charge of your own destiny, you make of it what you will when the way of the kingdom is there is a sovereign God and that is something you are not. You are not the creator. You are the created. So, you can try to build your own small kingdom, be your own small God but that will lead to your destruction or you can just simply live as you were intended to be free, free, free from the entanglements of culture, free from having to try to measure up, free from trying to pretend you’re something you’re not, free to not have a closet full of masks that you have to put on every time you go in to public depending on what you’re going to do, free to be utterly and completely and hopelessly dependent among God who will care for you, who knows what you need before you ask, free to let go of expectations, free to simply be here. So, we’ll watch all this play out as we continue to move forward. But there are so many junctures along the way in the Scriptures where the mirror comes up and we have to look at ourselves and we kind of have to look at where we’re going. like where the road that we currently are on is headed and is it headed toward life, will it get us there? And if we think we can be our own sovereign and just keep dodging we’re gonna eventually hit a brick wall or fall into a pothole. We have a choice. And the way of the kingdom is a choice to surrender and come under the protection of the mighty hand of God.

Prayer:

Father, we see this, we see this in Old and New Testaments, so we see this spanning thousands of years from each other and now we are thousands of years from the New Testament, the beginning of the New Testament era. And, so, we’re talking about thousands of years these things have been true and we’re still…we’re still struggling because it is so counterintuitive to the way that the world system is built up and made to work. And You invited us to be aware that we’re here, we’re in it, but we’re not of it and there are other ways to be on this earth. Give us eyes to see we pray. In the name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible you can do that at dailyaudiobible.com. There is a link on the homepage, and I thank you with all of my heart for your partnership. It’s a…I mean there’s a mission that we’ve had all these years to just continue to bring the spoken word of God every day and just give it to whoever…whoever will listen to it because the idea is, these are the Scriptures…if you’re hearing this then you’re hearing…you’re hearing from God and who doesn’t need that every day? And, so, just…even if…even if people just encounter it they’re still hearing. And, so, we just keep speaking it, just keep saying it. Somebody’s here saying it out over the world every day. And, so, if…if that’s…if that matters, that’s part of a journey that is impacting your life than thank you for your partnership. There is a link on the homepage at dailyaudiobible.com. Community Prayer and Praise:

I want to pray for Steve from Maryland. And you explained that you’re a widow and you’re… you’ve adopted five children and there are quite a few struggles going on right now. So, let’s pray. Heavenly Father I pray for Your strength I pray for Your blessing upon Steve. I thank You God for the work that he and his wife started together, and he finds himself in a lonely and falling apart place. And I pray Lord that…that You would just comfort him and help meet his needs. Help him to grieve and get the support he needs to grieve the loss of his wife and help each of those children Lord to know that their loved. I pray that You’ll bring supportive people from the church into their lives to work to walk right next to them and to show them the love that they need God. Fill the void and fill the place where mom was and now is not and…and help the church to just wrap loving arms around them and love them well. Help each one to get their needs met in You and…and give him strength for the journey Lord. None of us can do this alone but we can rely on You and we can take one step at a time and so I just pray that over my brother, and I pray for success and love and each one to continue in Your loving arms in Jesus’ name I pray.

This is Timberly calling for Steve the adopter…the adoptive father whose wife passed five years ago. Steve I just wanted to let you know that I come alongside you as fellow adoptive parents. We have two daughters that we adopted from the foster care system and I just want to let you know that I’m sure that on many levels we can connect on the unique challenges that present themselves through adoption and especially adopting children who have been through trauma or the foster care system or both. So, I just wanted to lift you up in prayer Steve along with your children. Father God, Lord, I pray for Steve and his children. Father God I pray that You give Steve strength or help him understand the strength that he has through You Father to be able to make wise decisions for himself and his children Father God. I pray a hedge of protection around this entire family Father God, that the forces of evil would not come against them Father Jesus, that You would protect them, Father that Your presence would be palpable, that Your presence would be unmistakable in their lives Father God. Please help them through this journey that they’re on Father God we know that You will organize their paths and we pray…we pray Father for them to understand how fully loved and fully accepted and fully known by You that they are Father God. I lift them up today to You Father and I pray that today is the day that they can see Your Salvation and they can feel Your love and that Steve would be encouraged Father God. Please give him some give him some…help him know Father…help him know Father the good things that he’s done, help him see the fruits of his labor today Father in Your precious son’s name I pray.

Hey Daily Audio Bible family this is John calling from Bethlehem PA it’s the 22nd of March the 81st day of the year and spring is in the air. Brian thank you so much for this program and for the opportunity to dive into God’s word every day. I wanted to give a shout out and say hi to friends here in the Lehigh Valley area in Pennsylvania that have decided to take the journey for the year this year through the Bible and you all know who you are. And I love you and I hope that you’re just hanging in there and taking it day by day and step by step and that…that God’s word is washing over you and having an impact on your lives as it’s had on mine in so many almost indescribable ways. My call this morning is to pray for Steve from Maryland. Steve, I heard your prayer request come in on the community prayer and praise on the 22nd, it aired on the 22nd and you called in asking for prayer for you and your family because you’re going through a lot of struggles right now. You mentioned that you’ve got five adopted children, that you lost your wife five years ago, and you’re struggling right now through with your son with home schooling and just home life with the pandemic and also over that loss of your…of your wife and his mom and then, you know, also with a daughter that’s got herself in a legal jam and a daughter who’s going to be having a baby. You’ve got a lot going Steve. Jesus, thank You so much Father for Steve thank You for what he’s doing in raising this family Lord God. Give him strength. Help him to endure Father God, to stay close to You. Help him to be prayerful, to remain calm and cool and collected. There’s nothing too hard for You Jesus and this isn’t a surprise to You. In Your name I pray. Amen.

Hey DAB family this is Gods Tree but I have many branches but I am yet rooted in the Lord. I’m calling because on behalf of two prayer requests this is March 22nd. This is for Paul in Ohio. Paul you blessed my spirit because you said you’ve been praying for several things and it hasn’t come to fruition yet and you’ve been a faithful man before God praying and, you know, in a routine of giving God what you had and God spoke to you and said, you know, I can do something for you but you need to do something a little different so now you’re setting out to do something different and that spoke to my spirit because I once heard a message said that you have to do something different in order to get something that you never had. And, so, you’ve put that little fire under me to do the same thing because there’s some things I’m believing God for as well. So, I’m going to be doing some things a little different too so that I can see God move. God wants us to work our faith and that’s what I’m going to do. And also I want to honor a prayer request. Tomica, I didn’t get where she was from but I’m praying for the healing in your shoulder and your workman’s compensation go through, but more importantly I’m not only praying for just blessings for your children but I’m praying blessings for yourself because you deserve it. And, you know, you said there’s so many obstacles that’s keeping you from getting the housing that you need. But know this, sometimes the enemy puts obstacles in the way just so he can keep you from seeing the blessings that are on the way. So, don’t give up. Keep praying and keep trusting God. Housing is going to open up for you and it’s going to be a better than what you ever imagine, and your children are going to be blessed more because you’re highly favored and loved by the Lord. And again, I want to thank you all for this ministry and continue to bless for you as I…

[singing starts] why should I feel discouraged? Why should thy shadows come? Why should my heart be heart be lonely and long for heaven and home? When Jesus is my portion my constant friend is Him. His life is on the __ and I know he watched me. His eye is on the __ and I know He watches me. I sing because I’m happy. I sing because I’m free. For His I is on the __ and I know He watches me [singing stops]. And brothers and sisters in Christ just know that the Lord…

Deuteronomy 4

Moses Commands Obedience

“And now, O Israel, listen to (A)the statutes and the rules[a] that I am teaching you, and do them, (B)that you may live, and go in and take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your fathers, is giving you. (C)You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you. Your eyes have seen what the Lord did (D)at Baal-peor, for the Lord your God destroyed from among you all the men who followed the Baal of Peor. But you who held fast to the Lord your God are all alive today. See, I have taught you statutes and rules, as the Lord my God commanded me, that you should do them in the land that you are entering to take possession of it. (E)Keep them and do them, for (F)that will be your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who, when they hear all these statutes, will say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’ For (G)what great nation is there that has (H)a god so near to it as the Lord our God is to us, whenever we call upon him? And what great nation is there, that has statutes and rules so (I)righteous as all this law that I set before you today?

(J)“Only take care, and (K)keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. (L)Make them known to your children and your children's children— 10 how on (M)the day that you stood before the Lord your God at Horeb, the Lord said to me, (N)‘Gather the people to me, that I may let them hear my words, (O)so that they may learn to fear (P)me all the days that they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children so.’ 11 And (Q)you came near and stood at the foot of the mountain, while (R)the mountain burned with fire to the heart of heaven, wrapped in darkness, cloud, and gloom. 12 Then (S)the Lord spoke to you out of the midst of the fire. You heard the sound of words, (T)but saw no form; (U)there was only a voice. 13 (V)And he declared to you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, that is, (W)the Ten Commandments,[b] (X)and he wrote them on two tablets of stone. 14 And (Y)the Lord commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and rules, that you might do them in the land that you are going over to possess.

Idolatry Forbidden

15 (Z)“Therefore watch yourselves very carefully. Since (AA)you saw no form on the day that the Lord spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire, 16 beware (AB)lest you act corruptly (AC)by making a carved image for yourselves, in the form of any figure, (AD)the likeness of male or female, 17 the likeness of any animal that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the air, 18 the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the water under the earth. 19 And beware lest you raise your eyes to heaven, and when you see (AE)the sun and the moon and the stars, (AF)all the host of heaven, you be drawn away and bow down to them and serve them, things that the Lord your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven. 20 But the Lord has taken you and (AG)brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, (AH)to be a people of his own inheritance, as you are this day. 21 Furthermore, (AI)the Lord was angry with me because of you, and he swore that I should not cross the Jordan, and that I should not enter the good land that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance. 22 For I must die in this land; (AJ)I must not go over the Jordan. But you shall go over and take possession of (AK)that good land. 23 (AL)Take care, lest you forget the covenant of the Lord your God, which he made with you, and (AM)make a carved image, the form of anything that the Lord your God has forbidden you. 24 For (AN)the Lord your God is a consuming fire, (AO)a jealous God.

25 “When you father children and children's children, and have grown old in the land, (AP)if you act corruptly by making a carved image in the form of anything, and (AQ)by doing what is evil in the sight of the Lord your God, so as to provoke him to anger, 26 I (AR)call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that you will soon utterly perish from the land that you are going over the Jordan to possess. You will not live long in it, but will be utterly destroyed. 27 And the Lord (AS)will scatter you among the peoples, (AT)and you will be left few in number among the nations where the Lord will drive you. 28 And (AU)there you will serve gods of wood and stone, the work of human hands, (AV)that neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell. 29 (AW)But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul. 30 When you are in tribulation, and all these things come upon you (AX)in the latter days, you will return to the Lord your God and obey his voice. 31 For the Lord your God is (AY)a merciful God. (AZ)He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them.

The Lord Alone Is God

32 “For (BA)ask now of the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man on the earth, and ask from one end of heaven to the other, whether such a great thing as this has ever happened or was ever heard of. 33 (BB)Did any people ever hear the voice of a god speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and still live? 34 Or has any god ever attempted to go and take a nation for himself from the midst of another nation, by trials, (BC)by signs, by wonders, and (BD)by war, (BE)by a mighty hand and (BF)an outstretched arm, and by great deeds of terror, all of which the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes? 35 To you it was shown, (BG)that you might know that the Lord is God; (BH)there is no other besides him. 36 (BI)Out of heaven he let you hear his voice, that he might discipline you. And on earth he let you see his great fire, and (BJ)you heard his words out of the midst of the fire. 37 And because (BK)he loved your fathers and chose their offspring after them[c] and brought you out of Egypt (BL)with his own presence, by his great power, 38 (BM)driving out before you nations greater and mightier than you, to bring you in, to give you their land for an inheritance, as it is this day, 39 know therefore today, and lay it to your heart, that (BN)the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; (BO)there is no other. 40 (BP)Therefore you shall keep his statutes and his commandments, which I command you today, (BQ)that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land that the Lord your God is giving you for all time.”

Cities of Refuge

41 Then Moses (BR)set apart three cities in the east beyond the Jordan, 42 that (BS)the manslayer might flee there, anyone who kills his neighbor unintentionally, without being at enmity with him in time past; he may flee to one of these cities and save his life: 43 (BT)Bezer in the wilderness on the (BU)tableland for the Reubenites, Ramoth in Gilead for the Gadites, and Golan in Bashan for the Manassites.

Introduction to the Law

44 This is the law that Moses set before the people of Israel. 45 These are the testimonies, the statutes, and the rules, which Moses spoke to the people of Israel when they came out of Egypt, 46 beyond the Jordan (BV)in the valley opposite Beth-peor, in the land of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon, (BW)whom Moses and the people of Israel defeated when they came out of Egypt. 47 And they took possession of his land and the land (BX)of Og, the king of Bashan, the two kings of the Amorites, who lived to the east beyond the Jordan; 48 (BY)from Aroer, which is on the edge of the Valley of the Arnon, as far as Mount (BZ)Sirion[d] (that is, (CA)Hermon), 49 together with all the Arabah on the east side of the Jordan as far as (CB)the Sea of the Arabah, under the slopes of Pisgah.

Luke 6:39-7:10

39 He also told them a parable: (A)“Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? 40 (B)A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is (C)fully trained will be like his teacher. 41 (D)Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but (E)do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye.

A Tree and Its Fruit

43 “For (F)no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, 44 for (G)each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. 45 (H)The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces (I)evil, (J)for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

Build Your House on the Rock

46 (K)“Why (L)do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? 47 (M)Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: 48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.[a] 49 (N)But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and (O)the ruin of that house was great.”

Jesus Heals a Centurion's Servant

After he had finished all his sayings in the hearing of the people, (P)he entered Capernaum. Now a centurion had a servant[b] who was sick and at the point of death, who was highly valued by him. When the centurion[c] heard about Jesus, (Q)he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and heal his servant. And when they came to Jesus, they pleaded with him earnestly, saying, (R)“He is worthy to have you do this for him, for he loves our nation, and he is the one who built us (S)our synagogue.” And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to him, “Lord, (T)do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. Therefore I did not presume to come to you. But (U)say the word, and let my servant be healed. For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard these things, (V)he marveled at him, and turning to the crowd that followed him, said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such (W)faith.” 10 And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant well.

Psalm 68:1-18

God Shall Scatter His Enemies

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. A Song.

68 (A)God shall arise, his enemies shall be (B)scattered;
and those who hate him shall flee before him!
As (C)smoke is driven away, so you shall drive them away;
(D)as wax melts before fire,
so the wicked shall perish before God!
But (E)the righteous shall be glad;
they shall exult before God;
they shall be jubilant with joy!

Sing to God, (F)sing praises to his name;
(G)lift up a song to him who (H)rides through (I)the deserts;
his name is (J)the Lord;
exult before him!
(K)Father of the fatherless and (L)protector of widows
is God in his holy habitation.
God (M)settles the solitary in a home;
he (N)leads out the prisoners to prosperity,
but (O)the rebellious dwell in (P)a parched land.

O God, when you (Q)went out before your people,
(R)when you marched through (S)the wilderness, Selah
(T)the earth quaked, the heavens poured down rain,
before God, the One of Sinai,
before God,[a] the God of Israel.
(U)Rain in abundance, O God, you shed abroad;
you restored your inheritance as it languished;
10 your flock[b] found a dwelling in it;
in your goodness, O God, you (V)provided for the needy.

11 The Lord gives (W)the word;
(X)the women who announce the news are a great host:
12 (Y)“The kings of the armies—they flee, they flee!”
The women at home (Z)divide the spoil—
13 though you men lie among (AA)the sheepfolds—
the wings of a dove covered with silver,
its pinions with shimmering gold.
14 When the Almighty scatters kings there,
let snow fall on (AB)Zalmon.

15 O mountain of God, mountain of Bashan;
O many-peaked[c] mountain, mountain of Bashan!
16 Why do you look with hatred, O many-peaked mountain,
at the mount that God (AC)desired for his abode,
yes, where the Lord will dwell forever?
17 (AD)The chariots of God are twice ten thousand,
thousands upon thousands;
the Lord is among them; Sinai is now in the sanctuary.
18 (AE)You ascended on high,
(AF)leading a host of captives in your train
and (AG)receiving gifts among men,
even among (AH)the rebellious, (AI)that the Lord God may dwell there.

Deuteronomy 2:1-3:29, Luke 6:12-38, Psalms 67:1-7, Proverbs 11:27

Today is the 24th day of March welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian I am glad to be here with you today. I’m always glad. This is one of the great oasis’s in my life and I hope it’s the same for you. I love that we can come around the Scriptures and allow them to speak into our lives across generations, across millennia, and speak truth into our hearts. So, we’re reading from the English Version…the English Standard Version this week. We have just begun the book of Deuteronomy. And just by way of reminder, these are the last three speeches or discourses or discussions or talks of Moses life, the last things that he has to say to the people that he has been leading for so long. And knowing that should give it gravity and should…should inquire of us that we might pay close attention just as the people would’ve been paying close attention. And, so, let’s dive in. Deuteronomy chapters 2 and 3 today.

Commentary:

Okay. So, in the gospel of Luke today we have encountered some territory that…that might seem familiar. We saw it more extensively in the book of Matthew and this is known as the sermon on the Mount, Jesus’ sermon on the Mount, which is known to be His central teaching, like a the core of the message that He is delivering. And actually, maybe even equally is important, the message that He’s modeling, the message that He’s living…like the sermon on the Mount certainly gives us the core doctrine of what Jesus is teaching to people but it’s also what He’s living. There’s not like some guru come down off the mountain with a new way of doing things and He’s just telling it to the people. He’s going about the countryside living this way and…and people are intrigued and are watching Him. And this set of teachings that Jesus traveled around and spoke of inviting people to open their eyes and see a  kingdom that is being revealed and how it works, this wasn't…like Jesus didn’t go around the countryside and people then began to call His teachings and the way that He was leading and speaking, they didn’t call it Christianity, that term is a Gentile term that came much later. Early on this was called “the way”. The Way - because Jesus was showing a different way of looking at the same picture, a different way of being in the same circumstances. In other words, nothing has to change around you for you to experience the way. It’s what changes within you. And once you see it and begin walking the way it changes the way you look at everything else and then you realize there are other ways of seeing and other ways of being and some of this is a choice. Some of the chaos, some of the drama, it comes upon everybody, but some of that we just…we just go to like a moth to the flame and we just keep getting taken out and wondering why it’s not working when Jesus is saying there is a totally different way of being, a totally different way of living, a totally different way of seeing and that way was and is disruptive and even difficult, might even call it a narrow path. Imagine that, when your…I don’t know…when you’re in a grocery store and you got your…you ran in for a few things, you got your few things, they’re bagged up, you’re walking your cart out and there’s somebody standing outside the grocery store just on the way little bit kinda like, you know, Salvation Army does a Christmas when they ring the bell and stuff. There’s just somebody down a few steps and there’s maybe 10 people around them or 20 people around them and they’re talking and your intrigued, “what’s going on here?” And, so, you walk over and then you overhear this person saying, “listen, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who hurt you. If someone slaps you on the cheek, turn the other cheek also. If someone demands your coat, offer your shirt also. Give to anyone who asks and when things are taken away from you don’t try to get them back. Do to others as you would like them to do to you.” If…like…you would probably recognize these words but if you had never really heard these words before and they were coming to you in a context of just your busy life then you’d see just how disruptive this is. This isn’t the way of our culture. The way of our culture isn’t love your enemies, it’s destroy them. It’s not to do good to those who hate you, it’s to hate back and build up walls of protection between us so that we can’t be hurt. There’s so rarely turning the other cheek in the world system that we live. And, so, we could see that even now where the words of Jesus, were they spoken out in the same kind of context that they were spoken in originally, they would be disruptive, they would be calling out a different way of looking at things. We might even listen to the words and think to ourselves, “that sounds so nice. Like the world would change if everybody did. Like this is a way that if people lived this way, the world would be a remarkably different place but nobody’s gonna do that. Or even if we decided I’m going to do that. I’m gonna live like this I’m gonna follow this person. They seem to…they seem to know something. I’m gonna follow this person. It’s crazy if we’ll observe ourselves the things that come pouring out of our mouths before we can stop them that are completely contrary to the way of Jesus. So, if you wonder about the narrow path that leads to life, if you wonder about what it practically looks like to be a disciple of Christ then love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who hurt you. If someone slaps you on one cheek offer the other cheek also. If someone demands your coat offer your shirt also. Give to anyone who asks. When things are taken away from you don’t try to get them back. Do to others as you would like them to do to you or maybe we could say that another way. Love your neighbor as yourself. There is a way. Jesus said there is a way that leads to life. He just said few ever find it. This is the way friends. And I look at that way and I have known this, and I have known this way most of my life. But I have known what I’m saying to you for a long time, and I look at those words and it makes me want to weep at my failures. And I realize I have no capacity. I mean I can…I can do this for couple hours, right? We can do this for a day. Like, we can…we can sort like white knuckle it and hold on tight and just make ourselves. Maybe that’s the first step though. Maybe that’s the first step to discipline, first step to opening our eyes to see, first step to say I’m not…I’m not…I’m not leaving any other way but the way of Jesus anymore. Nothing else works. This way that Jesus is describing is the ultimate of letting go, the ultimate of saying I am utterly and hopelessly dependent upon God and His mercy, and nothing else I try to arrange or build or make to ensure myself safety, that’s just a joke. The only true way, and honestly it’s such a cliché, such a cliché I’m about to say but the only way is to let go and let God, to lay ourselves down because isn’t this what Jesus is talking about? I mean to love your enemies is to lay yourself down, right? To do good to those who hate you, that’s like…that’s to lay your rights down. Like that’s to say, “I am not my own and I am not the judge and I am not retaliating I am letting go. I am hopelessly and utterly dependent upon God. God is the judge. I…I don’t even have to carry…this isn’t even a chain around my neck anymore. I am letting go. So, letting go of my offenses and letting go of the things that I need retribution for also means I’m letting go of the chains that are around my wrists attaching me that situation and that person. I’m letting go. And what happens happens. I am at the mercy of God. I would rather be safely there and at anyone else’s mercy.” So, let’s give that some thought today. This will be the last time that we…we reach the sermon on the mount in an encapsulated way like this this year. And yet this is so foundational. This is so important to what it means to follow Jesus that we just cannot blow by it. And if we want to go deeper than read it again or go back to Matthew 5 and read the whole thing again.

Prayer:

Jesus, we invite You into this contemplation, into this consideration. None…none of us are living up, none of us are measuring up and it’s frustrating but none of us are ever going to be able to without Your compassion and Your kindness…kindness and the leading of Your Holy Spirit and that You are faithful and just to forgive us our shortcomings in our failures. At the same time as much as we may fail as we walk this path You have given us the path. This is the way to go. This is the way to be, and so help us as we take steps forward because each step forward is a step forward in sanctification is a step forward in us being made holy and set apart, is a step forward in our transformation as we become like You. And we become like You by following the way and following the way requires that we lose ourselves in You, that we become a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to You. Come Holy Spirit into this we ask in Jesus name. Amen.

But I wanted to speak to Lori Music who was just on here that made a comment praising the Lord and was talking about the passing of her husband. I just want to say that I’m praying for you and your three beautiful daughters. I’m so glad that you are encouraged, and I just pray for strength for you guys through this journey. I pray that God will open up more blessing, more understanding, more wisdom, more insight is who He is and that He will pour out unto you everything that He has for you, that you will walk right into what He has for you. And, so, I just wanted to tell you that someone is listening, that you are loved you are being prayed for and that your strength and…and…and your testimony they just touch me. So, just keep fighting, keep walking sister. Keep going through what you need to go through as a soldier in the army of the Lord and you will see your husband again on the other side. God bless you. Grace and peace Daily Audio Bible family this is RJ representing Jesus from Connecticut. I just felt led to call in and just give a word of encouragement two brothers and sisters out there. I just wanted to say that I myself has been one who have been just at a point in my life totally rock bottom. I mean, I’ve seen incarceration, I’ve seen drugs, I’ve seen fornication, I’ve seen a life of partying and just doing all sorts of things that were so unruly and ungodly, but the Lord has allowed me to see that He loves me more than that and He has reconciled me back to Himself and right now I feel so blessed. You know, it’s been maybe 2 maybe 3 years that the Lord has brought my children back into my life. He has allowed me to be married to a beautiful, wonderful woman of God and, you know, secure in home. And I just want to encourage someone else and let you guys know that the Lord can turn your life around. The Lord can bring you back to a place where you rightfully belong, which is with Him. Be encouraged family. Don’t give up. The Lord is with you. He promised never to leave us nor forsake us. Just keep looking to Him and He will do what He say he will do. Grace and peace family. God loves you.

Hey DAB family it’s Danny from Southern Oregon. Hey, the other day Brian you were talking about how when we spend time with God why is it that we do all the talking? And boy that really hit me and it took me back to about a year ago when I used to dedicate time every single morning to sit with God and be still, to listen to the DAB, to Journal, to specifically write down the people and praying for and to write down my own prayers to God and…and just be quiet and listen to what God had to say. And at that time I don’t think I’d ever been closer to God in my entire Christian walk. And, so, I know…I know that’s super important. And for some reason busyness of life and everything has just kept me from dedicating that time in the morning. I still…I still listen, I pray for people but it’s on the go and I’m squeezing it in. And I..I know it’s not the same. And, so, anyway I wanted to thank you for reminding me how important that is. And also, I just wanted you all to pray with me. O heavenly Father, we just come to You and we ask You Lord to remind us that Your arms are always open for us, that we can crawl into Your lap we can snuggle in close and You can wrap arounds around us and You can keep us safe from everything that’s out in the world whether we’re tired or we’re afraid or sick, anything Lord. Your arms…or Your healing arms You can just help us to feel so good. And, so, remind us that Lord that we…that You are our refuge always in Jesus’ name.

Deuteronomy 2-3

The Wilderness Years

“Then we turned and journeyed into the wilderness in the direction of the Red Sea, (A)as the Lord told me. And for many days we traveled around Mount Seir. Then the Lord said to me, ‘You have been traveling around this mountain country (B)long enough. Turn northward and command the people, “You are about to pass through the territory of (C)your brothers, the people of Esau, (D)who live in Seir; and (E)they will be afraid of you. So be very careful. Do not contend with them, for I will not give you any of their land, no, not so much as for the sole of the foot to tread on, because (F)I have given Mount Seir to Esau as a possession. (G)You shall purchase food from them with money, that you may eat, and you shall also buy water from them with money, that you may drink. For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. (H)He knows your going through this great wilderness. (I)These forty years the Lord your God has been with you. You have lacked nothing.”’ So (J)we went on, away from our brothers, the people of Esau, who live in Seir, away from (K)the Arabah road from (L)Elath and (M)Ezion-geber.

“And we turned and went in the direction of the wilderness of Moab. And the Lord said to me, (N)‘Do not harass Moab or contend with them in battle, for I will not give you any of their land for a possession, because I have given (O)Ar to (P)the people of Lot for a possession.’ 10 ((Q)The Emim formerly lived there, (R)a people great and many, and tall (S)as the Anakim. 11 Like the Anakim they are also counted as (T)Rephaim, but the Moabites call them Emim. 12 (U)The Horites also lived in Seir formerly, but the people of Esau dispossessed them and destroyed them from before them and settled in their place, (V)as Israel did to the land of their possession, which the Lord gave to them.) 13 ‘Now rise up and go over (W)the brook Zered.’ So we went over (X)the brook Zered. 14 And the time from our leaving (Y)Kadesh-barnea until we crossed (Z)the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, (AA)until the entire generation, that is, the men of war, had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them. 15 For indeed the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from the camp, until they had perished.

16 “So as soon as all the men of war had perished and were dead from among the people, 17 the Lord said to me, 18 ‘Today you are to cross the border of Moab at Ar. 19 And when you approach the territory of the people of Ammon, (AB)do not harass them or contend with them, for I will not give you any of the land of the people of Ammon as a possession, because I have given it to (AC)the sons of Lot for a possession.’ 20 (It is also counted as a land of (AD)Rephaim. Rephaim formerly lived there—but the Ammonites call them Zamzummim— 21 (AE)a people great and many, and tall as the Anakim; but the Lord destroyed them before the Ammonites,[a] and they dispossessed them and settled in their place, 22 as he did for the people of Esau, who live in Seir, when he destroyed (AF)the Horites before them and they dispossessed them and settled in their place even to this day. 23 As for (AG)the Avvim, who lived in villages as far as (AH)Gaza, (AI)the Caphtorim, who came from Caphtor, destroyed them and settled in their place.) 24 ‘Rise up, set out on your journey and (AJ)go over the Valley of the Arnon. Behold, I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of (AK)Heshbon, and his land. Begin to take possession, and (AL)contend with him in battle. 25 This day I will begin to put (AM)the dread and fear of you on the peoples who are under the whole heaven, who shall hear the report of you and shall tremble and be in anguish because of you.’

The Defeat of King Sihon

26 “So I sent messengers from the wilderness of (AN)Kedemoth to Sihon the king of (AO)Heshbon, (AP)with words of peace, saying, 27 (AQ)‘Let me pass through your land. I will go only by the road; I will turn aside neither to the right nor to the left. 28 (AR)You shall sell me food for money, that I may eat, and give me water for money, that I may drink. Only let me pass through on foot, 29 (AS)as the sons of Esau who live in Seir and the Moabites who live in Ar did for me, until I go over the Jordan into the land that the Lord our God is giving to us.’ 30 But (AT)Sihon the king of (AU)Heshbon would not let us pass by him, for the Lord your God (AV)hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, that he might give him into your hand, as he is this day. 31 And the Lord said to me, ‘Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land over to you. Begin to take possession, that you may occupy his land.’ 32 Then (AW)Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Jahaz. 33 And (AX)the Lord our God gave him over to us, and (AY)we defeated him and his sons and all his people. 34 And we captured all his cities at that time and devoted to destruction[b] every (AZ)city, men, women, and children. We left no survivors. 35 Only the livestock we took as spoil for ourselves, with the plunder of the cities that we captured. 36 (BA)From Aroer, which is on the edge of the Valley of the Arnon, and from (BB)the city that is in the valley, as far as Gilead, there was not a city too high for us. (BC)The Lord our God gave all into our hands. 37 Only to the land of the sons of Ammon you did not draw near, that is, to all the banks of the river (BD)Jabbok and the cities of the hill country, whatever the Lord our God had forbidden us.

The Defeat of King Og

“Then we turned and went up the way to Bashan. And (BE)Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at (BF)Edrei. But the Lord said to me, ‘Do not fear him, for I have given him and all his people and his land into your hand. And you shall do to him as you did to (BG)Sihon the king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.’ So the Lord our God gave into our hand Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people, (BH)and we struck him down until he had no survivor left. And we took all his cities at that time—there was not a city that we did not take from them—sixty cities, (BI)the whole region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. All these were cities fortified with high walls, gates, and bars, besides very many unwalled villages. And (BJ)we devoted them to destruction,[c] as we did to Sihon the king of Heshbon, devoting to destruction every (BK)city, men, women, and children. But all the livestock and the spoil of the cities we took as our plunder. So we took the land at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, from the Valley of the Arnon to Mount Hermon (the Sidonians call (BL)Hermon (BM)Sirion, while the Amorites call it (BN)Senir), 10 all the cities of the (BO)tableland and all Gilead and all Bashan, as far as (BP)Salecah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. 11 (For (BQ)only Og the king of Bashan was left of the remnant of (BR)the Rephaim. Behold, his bed was a bed of iron. Is it not in (BS)Rabbah of the Ammonites? Nine cubits[d] was its length, and four cubits its breadth, according to the (BT)common cubit.[e])

12 “When we took possession of this land at that time, I gave to the Reubenites and the Gadites the territory beginning (BU)at Aroer, which is on the edge of the Valley of the Arnon, and half the hill country of Gilead with (BV)its cities. 13 (BW)The rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, that is, (BX)all the region of Argob, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh. (All that portion of Bashan is called the land of (BY)Rephaim. 14 (BZ)Jair the Manassite took all the region of Argob, that is, Bashan, as far as the border of (CA)the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and called the villages (CB)after his own name, Havvoth-jair, as it is to this day.) 15 To Machir (CC)I gave Gilead, 16 and to the Reubenites (CD)and the Gadites I gave the territory from Gilead as far as the Valley of the Arnon, with the middle of the valley as a border, as far over as the river Jabbok, (CE)the border of the Ammonites; 17 the Arabah also, with the Jordan as the border, from (CF)Chinnereth as far as (CG)the Sea of the Arabah, (CH)the Salt Sea, under (CI)the slopes of Pisgah on the east.

18 “And I commanded you at that time, saying, ‘The Lord your God has given you this land to possess. (CJ)All your men of valor shall cross over armed before your brothers, the people of Israel. 19 Only your wives, your little ones, and your livestock (CK)(I know that you have much livestock) shall remain in the cities that I have given you, 20 (CL)until the Lord gives rest to your brothers, as to you, and they also occupy the land that the Lord your God gives them beyond the Jordan. Then each of you may return to his possession which I have given you.’ 21 And I commanded (CM)Joshua at that time, ‘Your eyes have seen all that the Lord your God has done to these two kings. So will the Lord do to all the kingdoms into which you are crossing. 22 You shall not fear them, for it is (CN)the Lord your God who fights for you.’

Moses Forbidden to Enter the Land

23 “And I pleaded with the Lord at that time, saying, 24 ‘O Lord God, you have only begun to show your servant (CO)your greatness and your mighty hand. For (CP)what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as yours? 25 Please let me go over and see (CQ)the good land beyond the Jordan, that good hill country and (CR)Lebanon.’ 26 But (CS)the Lord was angry with me because of you and would not listen to me. And the Lord said to me, (CT)‘Enough from you; do not speak to me of this matter again. 27 (CU)Go up to the top of Pisgah and lift up your eyes westward and northward and southward and eastward, and look at it with your eyes, for you shall not go over this Jordan. 28 But (CV)charge Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he shall go over at the head of this people, and he shall put them in possession of the land that you shall see.’ 29 So we remained in (CW)the valley opposite Beth-peor.

Luke 6:12-38

The Twelve Apostles

12 In these days (A)he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to God. 13 And when day came, (B)he called his disciples (C)and (D)chose from them twelve, whom he named (E)apostles: 14 Simon, (F)whom he named Peter, and (G)Andrew his brother, and (H)James and John, and Philip, and Bartholomew, 15 and (I)Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called (J)the Zealot, 16 and (K)Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

Jesus Ministers to a Great Multitude

17 And (L)he came down with them and stood on a level place, with (M)a great crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast of (N)Tyre and Sidon, 18 who came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. (O)And those who were troubled with unclean spirits were cured. 19 And all the crowd (P)sought to touch him, for (Q)power came out from him and healed them all.

The Beatitudes

20 And (R)he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, (S)and said:

“Blessed are you who are poor, for (T)yours is the kingdom of God.

21 (U)“Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied.

(V)“Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.

22 “Blessed are you when (W)people hate you and when they (X)exclude you and revile you and (Y)spurn your name as evil, (Z)on account of the Son of Man! 23 (AA)Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for (AB)so their fathers did to the prophets.

Jesus Pronounces Woes

24 (AC)“But woe to you who are rich, (AD)for you (AE)have received your consolation.

25 “Woe to you who are full now, for (AF)you shall be hungry.

“Woe to (AG)you who laugh now, (AH)for you shall mourn and weep.

26 “Woe to you, (AI)when all people speak well of you, for (AJ)so their fathers did to (AK)the false prophets.

Love Your Enemies

27 “But I say to you who hear, (AL)Love your enemies, (AM)do good to those who hate you, 28 (AN)bless those who curse you, (AO)pray for those who abuse you. 29 (AP)To one who (AQ)strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic[a] either. 30 (AR)Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. 31 And (AS)as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.

32 (AT)“If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. 34 And (AU)if you (AV)lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount. 35 But (AW)love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and (AX)you will be sons of (AY)the Most High, for (AZ)he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. 36 (BA)Be merciful, even as (BB)your Father is merciful.

Judging Others

37 (BC)(BD)“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; (BE)forgive, and you will be forgiven; 38 (BF)give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put (BG)into your lap. For (BH)with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

To the choirmaster: with (A)stringed instruments. A Psalm. A Song.

67 May God (B)be gracious to us and bless us

that (D)your way may be known on earth,
your (E)saving power among all nations.

Numbers 36:1 – Deuteronomy 1:46, Luke 5:29-6:11, Psalms 66:1-20, Proverbs 11:24-26

Today is the 23rd day of March welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it is great to be here with you today like it is great to be here with you every day as we come in from the swirl of life that can lead to chaos, or confusion, or whatever, just all kinds of challenge. This is a place we try to create together that is free from those things. We can’t insulate ourselves from every challenge of course, but in this place we can because this is a place where we let it go and can leave it at the door. This is a safe place where we’re here to hear the Scriptures to be together, to invite God to lead us, and then we regroup, and we go back into the world. And it’s amazing, at least for me how much, how different things can look after some…some deep breaths and just hearing the Scriptures and just reorienting to God how different things can look. And, so, let’s just take a deep breath and let it go. Let it go and let’s allow the Scriptures to speak. Today we are going to conclude the book of Numbers and then we are going to begin the final book of the Torah or the Pentateuch known as Deuteronomy. And when we get there in a couple minutes once we finish this 36th chapter of…of numbers we’ll talk about Deuteronomy. We’ll fly over it, get our bearings and then dive in. But first Numbers chapter 36.

Introduction to the book of Deuteronomy:

Okay. This brings us to…well…that brought us to the close…we close the book on Numbers and now we’re opening the book of Deuteronomy, which is the fifth book of the Bible. So, we’ve read four of the five books of the Torah and we’re moving into Deuteronomy. And Deuteronomy again might feel like, “haven’t I heard…didn’t I hear this already? Like, didn't…didn’t we cover this ground?” And it could seem like, “wait, did I? Did we cover this ground? Is this new ground? Are we reviewing? What’s happening here?” The truth is that we are going to be doing some reviewing and some looking forward. And to put ourselves in the right frame of mind, imagine that you know that your time upon the earth is limited. And of course, we all know that, but like extremely limited. Like…like it’s not an arbitrary thing, it…it’s coming very soon, and you have a lot left to say. And, so, you find a way to get everybody that you have anything to say to together and say it, that is the book of Deuteronomy. These are the last things that Moses has to say to the people that he has been leading since his calling at the burning bush. And Deuteronomy essentially breaks down into three different speeches or discourses where all of the people are brought together to hear what Moses has to say. He’s leaving nothing left unsaid. He’s saying everything that he needs to say because this is the last time he’ll be saying anything to any of them. And they need to be reminded. We’ve been traveling with them and we’ve been finding that we need to be reminded because we’re the same way. Moses wanted them to remember who they were and why and who God is and where they’re going. And aren’t these the things that we forget? Just like they…just like they forgot. And, so, in the same way that we kind of come around this Global Campfire together, we would have to imagine ourselves to put ourselves in the right perspective for Deuteronomy that we are in a throng of people. We have been wilderness dwellers our whole lives. Our ancestors who came out of Egypt. They’ve died off, but we know all those stories. We’re not so far removed. We know that we’re in a period of transition and that God is calling us forward but we’re gonna lose our leader and someone else is gonna take us into our destiny. And the leader who has been…who has been the leader of the people our whole lives has some final things to say and some final things to do. And, so, we take our seats, and we begin to listen. Deuteronomy chapter 1.

Prayer:

Father, as is our custom on a daily basis because it’s always true, we thank You for Your word. We thank You for the Scriptures, we thank You for the community that You’ve allowed to form around the rhythm that we share here of being involved and interacting with the Scriptures each and every day. We are grateful. And as we move through this transition into the final book of the Torah as we move into Deuteronomy and hear are the final discourses of Moses, this is somebody that we’ve gotten to know well because we’ve been traveling with the children of Israel for quite a while now along with Moses. And, so, understanding that we’ll be saying goodbye and moving into new territory, this gives gravity to what Moses is saying. And we have learned a lot in the wilderness, we’ve learned a lot about ourselves as we’ve gone through the wilderness territory here in the early books of the Bible. And so many times the stories have become a mirror into our own souls. And, so, Holy Spirit help us to pay close attention to the final things that Moses is saying in this book of Deuteronomy because they apply to us too. Help us to have eyes to see and ears to hear what You are saying to us in our lives. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hello, DABbers this is Rosie __ I haven’t called for a bit but I’m always __. This is my 5th year being with you guys and I gotta tell you every year it gets better, and I get more in. Those prayers at the end have been lifeline and I love to sit there and hear and get, you know, get filled by its hope and also be able to pay for one another. And __ I believe in the power prayer and I’m in need of a prayer. I have tried to do this myself and I just felt that I need to just put in prayer. I know that there’s a worldwide right know prayer. You know, I’ve come here before and I know God __ seen me through it. I know that with more prayers I can get through this. I don’t what it is but I’ve been having for two years a pain on my right side, by my liver and kidney and they’ve been saying things and I’ve been trying to just put it to the side. I just…I’ve been serving. I’m in ministry and I have to be made strong and I have __ of faith but it can seem like I’m falling apart at times. And I know my God is faithful and I know he doesn’t give us more to bear and it’s just nothing it just could be another stone that I had previously before, and I had surgery before. I don’t know. I had Covid. And…and ever since after that the pains are getting harder and you know from a 1 to 10 the pains about 6 or 7 and I just wake up and go to bed with the same pain. So, I just need you guys to pray. __ so well __ 4 to 7 is my promise that by His stripes I’m healed and everybody that is out there that is needing a healing __ we’re one father…

Hey this is Jerry calling from Duluth MN it’s Friday March 19th 1:45 in the morning day 78 of the year day 693 of my midnight journey of being in the DAB during the middle of the night or early in the morning. I was really moved today by Brian’s message on sitting in silence and trying to not spend prayer time just talking about myself and talking about things that we would like to make the world better or my life better but to take the time in silence. And I noticed at the end of the podcast they put 4 minutes of waves of rolling and putting us in such a state of being on the side of the ocean. For us in lake Superior living right on the tip of Lake superior. Lake Superior’s in inland ocean and we have the same type of atmosphere where you look over the water and there’s nothing but water and the waves rolling…rolling in. So I tried to spend those four minutes in silence. Had a difficult time so I backed it up and tried it again and what a great exercise to do to just take and stop talking and listen. May God help us to do this more and put this as part of our practice of our worship. In Jesus’ name.

Hi Daily Audio Bible brothers and sisters this is God’s Life Speaker. I just desire that we all magnify the Lord together and we do, and I just love the idea that could be anytime of the day and somewhere else there is a DABber with me praying and as you bring in your prayer requests, I’m praying with you. It could be anytime of the day or night there is just constant prayer. And we can continue it on our own when we magnify the Lord. Having been in the military I really enjoy the compass theory of true North and even just a degree of if you’re a pilot would take you somewhere totally outside of where your destination would be just if you were off by a degree. And I have prayed for conviction to live in awareness. We need to be standing in awareness in our spiritual lives so that we can always come back to true North. If there’s a shifting in our soul that we feel that we know what we come back with self-control and the fruit of the spirit magnifying the Lord being helped by the Holy Spirit and just going forward always in the direction of our true North as we magnify Him. Lord Jesus we love You. We just worship You. We praise Your name. You are the comforter You are the God of creation You are the God of our lives, author, knowing before time ever began what our stories would be and I pray Lord that we would die to self and be living in awareness so that we can always be directed towards You, towards true north magnifying You shining You drawing others towards You and always going higher and higher to the upward call. Amen. Bless you Brian. Bless you DABbers.

Good morning DAB family this is Walta the Burning Bush that will not be Devoured for the Glory of Our God and Our King. Today I listened to Radiant Rachel praying for her church family as the pastors being moved away on a mission’s trip to Norway. Radiant Rachel I love the compassion and love that you have for your home family and I felt that even more when you shared that your family has to move across country and basically start from scratch when it comes to your church family. I’m praying for you right now that wherever you’re going that God is already preparing a place for your family, spiritually speaking a wonderful family, just somewhere where you would never even imagine that existed. I pray to God that they will welcome you into their arms and I just challenge you to dig deeper into the DAB. I dug into the DAB when I moved my family from Arizona to Liberia West Africa. And that’s why I love this family. It’s just solid. Val in Vegas your praise report just warmed my heart. I had all kinds of feelings. I’m praising God for your healing and for your dream job. Your testimony is just why we’re here, is because no matter where you are in the world, no matter what continent you’re on, no matter what state of being you are in mentally, physically, emotionally God’s got you and the DAB family is always there for you. As long as you can get Internet and if you can’t download it before you leave. Love you guys. Have a blessed, blessed weekend.

Good morning this is Mary. I am on this for the first time. I just want to thank God for Brian and his family. I would like to just say this is my first time trying to complete this Daily auto Bible. I was on last year, but I did not complete it because of different circumstances but this year I am determined to finish. It is so helpful. It helped me with understanding the Bible verse by verse chapter by chapter. I get so excited every morning when I get up and put it on. And if I miss a day I go back and I listen to it. I am determined. It gives me the excitement of hearing what is being taught. Growing up I feel like I missed out on a lot in the word but just listening to this encourages my spirit. It makes me want to learn more about God and His word in depth and I wanted to thank you Brian and your family and what God has put you in this position to help those who can’t read or don’t understand the word. I praise God for you, and I ask God to bless you and your family. And for those that are listening God bless you and keep me in your prayer my family. Again, my name is Mary and continue to praise God and lift his name. No matter what is going on in the word…in the world put God first and everything else will __. In the name of Jesus. Love you all.

Numbers 36 - Deuteronomy 1

Marriage of Female Heirs

36 The heads of the fathers' houses of the clan of the (A)people of Gilead the son of Machir, son of Manasseh, from the clans of the people of Joseph, came near and spoke before Moses and before the chiefs, the heads of the fathers' houses of the people of Israel. They said, (B)“The Lord commanded my lord to give the land for inheritance by lot to the people of Israel, and (C)my lord was commanded by the Lord to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother to his daughters. But if they are married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the people of Israel, then their inheritance will be taken from the inheritance of our fathers and added to the inheritance of the tribe into which they marry. So it will be taken away from the lot of our inheritance. And when (D)the jubilee of the people of Israel comes, then their inheritance will be added to the inheritance of the tribe into which they marry, and their inheritance will be taken from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.”

And Moses commanded the people of Israel according to the word of the Lord, saying, “The tribe of the people of Joseph (E)is right. This is what the Lord commands concerning the daughters of Zelophehad: ‘Let them marry whom they think best, (F)only they shall marry within the clan of the tribe of their father. The inheritance of the people of Israel shall not be transferred from one tribe to another, for every one of the people of Israel (G)shall hold on to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers. And (H)every daughter who possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the people of Israel shall be wife to one of the clan of the tribe of her father, so that every one of the people of Israel may possess the inheritance of his fathers. So no inheritance shall be transferred from one tribe to another, for each of the tribes of the people of Israel shall hold on to its own inheritance.’”

10 The daughters of Zelophehad did as the Lord commanded Moses, 11 (I)for Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married to sons of their father's brothers. 12 They were married into the clans of the people of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of their father's clan.

13 These are the commandments and the rules that the Lord commanded through Moses to the people of Israel (J)in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho.

The Command to Leave Horeb

These are the words that Moses spoke to all Israel beyond the Jordan in the wilderness, in (K)the Arabah opposite (L)Suph, between (M)Paran and Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab. It is eleven days' journey from Horeb by the way of Mount Seir to (N)Kadesh-barnea. (O)In the fortieth year, on the first day of the eleventh month, Moses spoke to the people of Israel according to all that the Lord had given him in commandment to them, after (P)he had defeated Sihon the king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon, and (Q)Og the king of Bashan, who lived in Ashtaroth and in (R)Edrei. Beyond the Jordan, (S)in the land of Moab, Moses undertook to explain this law, saying, “The Lord our God said to us in Horeb, (T)‘You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Turn and take your journey, and go to (U)the hill country of the Amorites and to all their neighbors in (V)the Arabah, (W)in the hill country and in the lowland and in the Negeb and (X)by the seacoast, the land of the Canaanites, and Lebanon, as far as the great river, the river Euphrates. See, I have set the land before you. Go in and take possession of the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, (Y)to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to them and to their offspring after them.’

Leaders Appointed

“At that time (Z)I said to you, ‘I am not able to bear you by myself. 10 The Lord your God has multiplied you, and behold, (AA)you are today as numerous as the stars of heaven. 11 (AB)May the Lord, the God of your fathers, make you a thousand times as many as you are and bless you, (AC)as he has promised you! 12 (AD)How can I bear by myself the weight and burden of you and your strife? 13 (AE)Choose for your tribes wise, understanding, and experienced men, and I will appoint them as your heads.’ 14 And you answered me, ‘The thing that you have spoken is good for us to do.’ 15 So I took the heads of your tribes, wise and experienced men, (AF)and set them as heads over you, commanders of thousands, commanders of hundreds, commanders of fifties, commanders of tens, and officers, throughout your tribes. 16 And I charged your judges at that time, ‘Hear the cases between your brothers, and (AG)judge righteously between a man and his brother or the alien who is with him. 17 (AH)You shall not be partial in judgment. You shall hear the small and the great alike. You shall not be intimidated by anyone, for (AI)the judgment is God's. And the case that is too hard for you, you shall (AJ)bring to me, and I will hear it.’ 18 And I commanded you at that time all the things that you should do.

Israel's Refusal to Enter the Land

19 “Then we set out from Horeb and (AK)went through all that great and terrifying wilderness that you saw, on the way to the hill country of the Amorites, as the Lord our God commanded us. And (AL)we came to Kadesh-barnea. 20 And I said to you, ‘You have come to the hill country of the Amorites, which the Lord our God is giving us. 21 See, the Lord your God has set the land before you. Go up, take possession, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has told you. (AM)Do not fear or be dismayed.’ 22 Then all of you came near me and said, ‘Let us send men before us, that they may explore the land for us and bring us word again of the way by which we must go up and the cities into which we shall come.’ 23 The thing seemed good to me, and (AN)I took twelve men from you, one man from each tribe. 24 And (AO)they turned and went up into the hill country, and came to the Valley of Eshcol and spied it out. 25 And they took in their hands some of the fruit of the land and brought it down to us, and brought us word again and said, ‘It is a good land that the Lord our God is giving us.’

26 “Yet you would not go up, but rebelled against the command of the Lord your God. 27 And (AP)you murmured in your tents and said, ‘Because the Lord (AQ)hated us he has brought us out of the land of Egypt, (AR)to give us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us. 28 Where are we going up? (AS)Our brothers have made our hearts melt, saying, (AT)“The people are greater and taller than we. The cities are great and fortified up to heaven. And besides, we have seen (AU)the sons of the Anakim there.”’ 29 Then I said to you, ‘Do not be in dread or afraid of them. 30 The Lord your God who goes before you (AV)will himself fight for you, just as he did for you in Egypt before your eyes, 31 and in the wilderness, where you have seen how the Lord your God (AW)carried you, as a man carries his son, all the way that you went until you came to this place.’ 32 Yet in spite of this word (AX)you did not believe the Lord your God, 33 (AY)who went before you in the way (AZ)to seek you out a place to pitch your tents, in fire by night and in the cloud by day, to show you by what way you should go.

The Penalty for Israel's Rebellion

34 “And the Lord heard your words and was angered, and he swore, 35 (BA)‘Not one of these men of this evil generation shall see the good land that I swore to give to your fathers, 36 (BB)except Caleb the son of Jephunneh. He shall see it, and to him and to his children I will give the land on which he has trodden, because he has wholly followed the Lord!’ 37 Even with me (BC)the Lord was angry on your account and said, ‘You also shall not go in there. 38 (BD)Joshua the son of Nun, (BE)who stands before you, he shall enter. (BF)Encourage him, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it. 39 And as for (BG)your little ones, who you said would become a prey, and your children, who today (BH)have no knowledge of good or evil, they shall go in there. And to them I will give it, and they shall possess it. 40 But as for you, (BI)turn, and journey into the wilderness in the direction of the Red Sea.’

41 “Then you answered me, (BJ)‘We have sinned against the Lord. We ourselves will go up and fight, just as the Lord our God commanded us.’ And every one of you fastened on his weapons of war and thought it easy to go up into the hill country. 42 And the Lord said to me, (BK)‘Say to them, Do not go up or fight, (BL)for I am not in your midst, lest you be defeated before your enemies.’ 43 So I spoke to you, and you would not listen; but you rebelled against the command of the Lord and (BM)presumptuously went up into the hill country. 44 (BN)Then the Amorites who lived in that hill country came out against you and chased you (BO)as bees do and beat you down in Seir as far as (BP)Hormah. 45 And you returned and wept before the Lord, but the Lord did not listen to your voice or give ear to you. 46 So (BQ)you remained at Kadesh many days, the days that you remained there.

Luke 5:29-6:11

29 And Levi made him a great feast in his house, and there was a large company (A)of tax collectors and others reclining at table with them. 30 And the Pharisees and (B)their scribes grumbled at his disciples, saying, (C)“Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” 31 And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 32 (D)I have not come to call the righteous (E)but sinners (F)to repentance.”

A Question About Fasting

33 And they said to him, (G)“The disciples of John (H)fast often and (I)offer prayers, (J)and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours eat and drink.” 34 And Jesus said to them, (K)“Can you make wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? 35 (L)The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and (M)then they will fast in those days.” 36 He also told them a parable: “No one tears a piece from a new garment and puts it on an old garment. If he does, he will tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old. 37 And no one puts new wine into old (N)wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed. 38 But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. 39 And no one after drinking old wine desires new, for he says, ‘The old is good.’”[a]

Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath

(O)On a Sabbath,[b] while he was going through the grainfields, his disciples (P)plucked and ate some heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands. But some of the Pharisees said, (Q)“Why are you doing (R)what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath?” And Jesus answered them, (S)“Have you not read (T)what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God and took and ate (U)the bread of the Presence, (V)which is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those with him?” And he said to them, (W)“The Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.”

A Man with a Withered Hand

On another Sabbath, (X)he entered the synagogue (Y)and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was withered. And the scribes and the Pharisees (Z)watched him, to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath, (AA)so that they might find a reason to accuse him. But (AB)he knew their thoughts, and he said to the man with the withered hand, “Come and stand here.” And he rose and stood there. And Jesus said to them, “I ask you, (AC)is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to destroy it?” 10 And (AD)after looking around at them all he said to him, “Stretch out your hand.” And (AE)he did so, and his hand was restored. 11 But they were filled with (AF)fury and discussed with one another what they might do to Jesus.

Psalm 66

How Awesome Are Your Deeds

To the choirmaster. A Song. A Psalm.

66 (A)Shout for joy to God, all the earth;
sing the glory of his name;
(B)give to him glorious praise!
Say to God, (C)“How awesome are your deeds!
So great is your power that your enemies (D)come cringing to you.
(E)All the earth worships you
and sings praises to you;
they sing praises to your name.” Selah

(F)Come and see what God has done:
(G)he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man.
He (H)turned the sea into dry land;
they (I)passed through the river on foot.
There did we rejoice in him,
who rules by his might forever,
whose (J)eyes keep watch on the nations—
let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah

Bless our God, O peoples;
let the sound of his praise be heard,
who has kept our soul among the living
and (K)has not let our feet slip.
10 For you, O God, have (L)tested us;
you have tried us as silver is tried.
11 You brought us into (M)the net;
you laid a crushing burden on our backs;
12 you let men (N)ride over our heads;
we went through fire and through (O)water;
yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance.

13 I will come into your house with burnt offerings;
I will (P)perform my vows to you,
14 that which my lips uttered
and my mouth promised (Q)when I was in trouble.
15 I will offer to you burnt offerings of fattened animals,
with the smoke of the sacrifice of rams;
I will make an offering of bulls and goats. Selah

16 (R)Come and hear, all you who fear God,
and I will tell what he has done for my soul.
17 I cried to him with my mouth,
and high praise was on[a] my tongue.[b]
18 If I had (S)cherished iniquity in my heart,
(T)the Lord would not have listened.
19 But truly (U)God has listened;
he has attended to the voice of my prayer.

20 Blessed be God,
because he has not rejected my prayer
or removed his steadfast love from me!

Proverbs 11:24-26

24 (A)One gives (B)freely, yet grows all the richer;
another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.
25 (C)Whoever brings blessing (D)will be enriched,
and (E)one who waters will himself be watered.
26 (F)The people curse him who holds back grain,
but (G)a blessing is on the head of him who (H)sells it.

A Song. A Psalm.

66 (A)Shout for joy to God, all the earth;
sing the glory of his name;
(B)give to him glorious praise!
Say to God, (C)“How awesome are your deeds!
So great is your power that your enemies (D)come cringing to you.
(E)All the earth worships you
and sings praises to you;
they sing praises to your name.” Selah

(F)Come and see what God has done:
(G)he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man.
He (H)turned the sea into dry land;
they (I)passed through the river on foot.
There did we rejoice in him,
who rules by his might forever,
whose (J)eyes keep watch on the nations—
let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah

Bless our God, O peoples;
let the sound of his praise be heard,
who has kept our soul among the living
and (K)has not let our feet slip.
10 For you, O God, have (L)tested us;
you have tried us as silver is tried.
11 You brought us into (M)the net;
you laid a crushing burden on our backs;
12 you let men (N)ride over our heads;
we went through fire and through (O)water;
yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance.

13 I will come into your house with burnt offerings;
I will (P)perform my vows to you,
14 that which my lips uttered
and my mouth promised (Q)when I was in trouble.
15 I will offer to you burnt offerings of fattened animals,
with the smoke of the sacrifice of rams;

19 But truly (U)God has listened;
he has attended to the voice of my prayer.

20 Blessed be God,
because he has not rejected my prayer
or removed his steadfast love from me!

Proverbs 11:24-26

24 (A)One gives (B)freely, yet grows all the richer;
another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.
25 (C)Whoever brings blessing (D)will be enriched,
and (E)one who waters will himself be watered.
26 (F)The people curse him who holds back grain,
but (G)a blessing is on the head of him who (H)sells it.

Numbers 33:40-35:34, Luke 5:12-28, Psalms 65:1-13, Proverbs 11:23

Today is the 22nd day of March welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I’m Brian it is great to be here with you as we just, you know. We’re…we’re moving into work and yesterday we came into this week and we talked about it being a brand-new shiny sparkly week, like we always do and now we have to live into this week and now is the time where it’s not a theory where we have to hold onto Jesus and walk with God and allow the Scriptures to lead us forward. And, so, it’s great that we have this place, right? This place that we can go, come around the Global Campfire, situate ourselves, find a place to sit, just relax and orient ourselves to God as we move forward in our day. So, we’re reading from the English Standard Version this week, picking up with the story in the book of Numbers. Today, Numbers chapter 33, verse 40 through 35 verse 34.

Commentary:

Okay. So, we are indeed nearing the end of the book of Numbers and so we’ve been kind of recounting the travels that…that we’ve been on with the children of Israel since they left Egypt, place to place and what happened there and all this in preparation for moving forward across the Jordan. And then sort of how the…the…the borders would look and how things would be divided out up, that’s being laid out in front of us as well so we can tell that we’re moving forward toward something.

And then in the gospel of Luke, obviously, we’re in the Gospels. So, primarily we are observing and walking along as one of the disciples of Jesus listening to His teachings, observing His ministry, observing the way He interacts, His personality, the kinds of things that He does. And we’ve already gone through Matthew and Mark so it can be like, “yeah…I mean, yes, I want to hear the stories over and over but I…I know the stories.” But let’s just kind of go into the book of Luke and observe what we’re seeing today. Jesus’ ministry has begun, and it is…it is beginning to catch fire. Actually, word is spreading all over the place. So, his fame is spreading, and we have to look and go like, “what is Jesus after here? What is He going for as He sets up His ministry?” Obviously, He’s becoming famous but is that what He’s going for? What is He after here? One thing that we began to observe is that Jesus isn’t afraid to mingle with anybody. The crowds are pressing in on Him and so He is among all kinds of different people, whether clean or unclean, whether Jew or Gentile. He is among all kinds of people in all different statuses of life. And we see Jesus begin kind of sorting for the for the people who aren’t particularly religious or aren’t particularly educated or who don’t think they have the answers. So, he goes to fisherman, common people or he goes to a tax collector, which…which would’ve been a statement in itself. These tax collectors, they were Hebrew people, but they work for the Roman government and it’s kind of a convoluted thing because the right to collect taxes is something that could be bought, sort of like a license, but it costs a lot of money. And, so, wealthy people would obtain these licenses and then hire people to do the collection and then these hired people would be paid, but they’re also kind of allowed to…to skim or to overcharge to embellish their own pocketbooks in the process. And these were Hebrew people among Hebrew people collecting money and so they were pretty well hated for what they were doing because they were perceived as betrayers, right? Not really…really in the Hebrew community, just extorting from the Hebrew community. So, for Jesus to hang out with those kind of people, even invite one of them to become a member of His inner circle, this is a statement in itself. This is not what other rabbis are doing. They are condemning these tax collectors and sinners. They are staying completely clear of them and instructing everyone else to stay clear of them, to not give hospitality, to not be friendly with them. So already, Jesus is making statements with His behavior that would have had people, especially the people that are educated and think that they know the answers, would’ve had them talking amongst themselves, which is what we see shaping up in the Gospels. And, so, Jesus is healing people today and one of the ways that he heals someone is to say, “your sins are forgiven.” For the religious leaders this would be a statement of blasphemy because forgiveness of sins can only be given by God and through a process. So, you’ve got to think again, “what is He going for then?” Because if He’s going to be a rabbi and make comment on Torah then he’s a religious person. And yet, He’s like picking fights with the religious leaders. So, He is becoming famous among the people, but He continually separates Himself and goes into a solitary place, to recharge, to pray, to be with Father. So, obviously, the accolades and being thrown up on a pedestal of fame isn’t what He’s after. He mingles with the…what would be considered the riffraff, the underbelly of the society. I suppose if you are known to be friendly with prostitutes and I don’t mean like customers, I mean like friends with prostitutes and tax collectors then your stereotyped, then there are assumptions made about you based on the company you’re keeping. We’re kinda taught these things from childhood but Jesus seems to be flying in the face of some of that. We’re told that we’re known by the company we keep, largely to keep us from others leading us down paths that could lead to destruction. Jesus seems to be going like right into those people’s lives inviting them to be His friends. So, we can imagine that the people that are being befriended are finally…finally getting for just a moment what it might feel like to belong. And isn’t that what we’re looking for in our lives? Isn’t that like what motivates so much of our lives, that we could belong somewhere? And the people are buying into it. They’re flocking to Jesus, they’re hearing Jesus and its it’s changing the atmosphere, it’s changing the atmosphere among the religious people too. It’s just inflaming them. So, Jesus is doing what He’s doing, and it is giving the outsider a sense of belonging and a sense of invitation and a sense that there might actually be some hope left in the world. And He continues to do what He’s doing. Like, He’s not changing anything but there’s a completely different reaction among the religious elite, those who think they know God, those who think they know what God will and won’t do, those who think they know exactly what God expects. Without Jesus changing His behavior at all He is inflaming those people and inflaming them to the point where they will become profoundly antagonistic as we all know and will eventually sit down and decide that they will do whatever it takes to get rid of this guy. So, what is Jesus going for? Jesus, at least from His own testimony is going for the truth. He’s attempting to open people’s eyes to see that there are other ways to be, that the world and all its deception and the whirlwind that the world brings just pushing us forward even though we don’t know where were going and keeping us discombobulated all the time so that it is very easy for us to be at odds, Jesus is saying that “the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Do you not perceive it? Can’t you see it? There is a totally different way of being a human being and it doesn’t have to be this way.” The irony is He’s going to finish His ministry and provide that path and it’s going to be the people who think they know what God wants that are going to have Him killed. It’s the religious that want Jesus out of the way. And as hard as it might be, that is a mirror. That is a mirror that should be right in front of our eyes. If we were to say…I don’t know…go review the things that we have posted on social media over the last few months or the conversations that we’ve had over a variety of topics over the last year, if we just review ourselves do we find ourselves in the camp that knows that we don’t know and are so profoundly fortunate to even be here or are we in the camp of those who think they know what God will and will not do and that we have been somehow appointed His spokesperson to defend Him as if He can’t defend Himself? There’s a lot there to be considered. Of course, every one of us would have to repent at some point over last few months, even if it’s just something we said to our spouse and we just…it just trickled out of our lips before we could stop it. The point here in trying to create some type of contrast is that there is a contrast that exists in these stories in the New Testament. If our goal, like if the thing we’re going for is to follow Jesus, is to be transformed and to become Christlike, like Christ in this world, to follow in His footsteps and do the things that He did so that is not one Jesus but His entire body in this world. If our goal is to be a part of that than the contrast should invite us to look at whether we are Christlike or whether we are Pharisee like. And that could be disruptive, which can be a good thing.

Prayer:

Jesus come. Come into the things that we’re considering. Are we walking with You and representing You in this world the way the examples have been given to us in the Gospels or are we more like religious elite people who think we know everything? The truth is, we can find ourselves somewhere in the middle and on any given…any given day we can move to either of those extremes. That’s just how we are. Like we can…we can get into alignment today and be completely off tomorrow, which is why a rhythm and staying connected and moving forward, step-by-step day by day brings us back so that we can make progress, so that we can cooperate with this process of transformation, so that we can yield ourselves to this process of sanctification, so that we don’t stand in our own way of what You’re doing in our lives. Come Holy Spirit into all these things that we’re considering today, what our postures are like, what the aroma of our lives are bringing into the world. Come Spirit we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi this is Steve from Maryland; I’m calling to ask for prayer for me and also for my family as we are going through a lot of struggles right now. To give some background my wife and I had adopted five kids a number of years back and raised them. And five years ago my wife passed away so that left me as a single dad to raise these kids and here we are five years later and we are struggling with my son, I am struggling with my son who is 14 years old and with dealing with the whole schooling and home…home…home life with the pandemic and also a lot of loss. Still dealing with the loss of mom and other people in his life. And now he’s losing his sister who is going into jail tomorrow. She got herself in a legal jam a year and a half ago and it’s finally coming to pass at this time. And I have one daughter who is having a baby next month. And this is just a lot to take on and I just ask for any prayer that anybody can provide as this is a lot for me to take on. Any prayer is appreciated. I thank you very much.

Hello DAB this is Carla from East Texas…East Texas. I listen every day and I just started this journey on listening to the Bible everyday January 1st and I’m so glad I did. I’ve learned a lot and I’ve heard a lot. The Bible’s my favorite. Praying for everyone whenever I think about it. I mean, life is busy. I just gained guardianship of my great-niece and I just want to ask for prayer for her. Her name is Chloe and she’s lovely. She six. I have a four-year-old daughter. I’m a single mom actually. So, my daughter loves her being over and I’m learning how to have two children in the house. And if you could just pray for her and her heart and her mind because she’s been through a lot. Hello family this is People on the Water from Indiana just calling in just to be thankful. For Redeemed Rachel I heard your message, and I was just so blessed by hearing your very words. And just your name, Redeemed Rachel. I lift up prayers of intercession for your church family as a…as…as…as they are going to Norway to go on and serve the Lord in nor…Norway. And you’re also moving, and you’re excited about that. You have to say goodbye to friends but you’re excited to go…to go across country…to go cross nation. And like you’re just excited about that and I just thank the Lord that He has given you eyes to see and hope and not in fear or not in negative energies but in hope you can see hope so may you just keep that gift. And also, just in…in a spirit of celebration a prayer answered. I asked you all to pray for me that I might get my job. And this job is a little interesting because I was standing firm on. I didn’t want to have any other job but this one. I believed God would do it for me. And I…I…I turned in my application and I got the job brothers and sisters. I got it. So, keep being faithful to your God who is faithful to you. And know that Jesus loves you. I’d seen it within his scars and may you grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior. I love you all. It’s in Jesus name that I pray, and I ask. Amen.

Good morning DAB family this is Jenny from London UK. I just started reading the plan this year. I would like to pray for the man who phoned in on the 18th of March with a brain tumor pending surgery. By the stripes of Jesus, you are healed. Jesus had already paid the price at the cross. He has healed all our diseases. I curse that brain tumor and command it to shrink and die in Jesus mighty name. Thank you, Lord for a miracle for this man and his family, for supernatural healing prior to any surgery. In Jesus’ name I pray. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

Hey DAB family my name is Nathan, and I had a stroke in 2009 when I was 25 and I’m 37 now and I’ve been a believer for five years. I posted on the Prayer Wall and got some feedback and I think it’s working. I think it’s working. I…I will continue to listen to the daily devotional, and I thank you DAB family. Thank you very much. God bless you. Goodbye.
