Joshua 9:3-10:43, Luke 16:19-17:10, Psalms 83:1-18, Proverbs 13:4

Today is the 14th day of April. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian and here we are reaching out and grabbing the door handle, whatever it is, and pushing our way through the threshold into a brand-new week and we are grateful and thankful to the Lord for bringing us this far into the year and allowing us into this new week. We’ll read from the New Living Translation this week. And, of course, we’ll pick up where we left off yesterday. We are in the book of Joshua and today we’ll read chapter 9 verse 3 through 10 verse 43.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for a brand-new shiny, sparkly week that we are walking into together, and we thank You for bringing us the first stretch into that week. We ask that Your Holy Spirit to be in and among and around us over the course of this next week. We choose to humble ourselves under Your mighty hand submitting ourselves to Your authority inviting You fully. Nothing is off limits to You in this week as we continue to move through this season of repentance that we observe, and call lent. And Lord these are our rituals that help focus our attention and our heart and repentance and lamentation and sitting with the fact that our sin brings only death to ourselves, to our communities and to this world but You have come to eradicate sin’s power over us and set us free. But this cost something, and we’ve read of this story over and over but as we’re in this season we sit with it. And, so, we sit with it now. It was costly to give us our freedom, we acknowledge that. There’s no way we could repay that. There’s no way we can even approach it. And, so, we fall to our knees in humble gratitude thanking You for coming to get us when we were so lost. And may we bring light and life and good news into this world this week. May we not perpetuate the darkness in any way. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.

Continuing to invite the community to raise the canopy of prayer over the More Gathering for women that will conclude today. And what an adventure it has been. What beauty has as befallen us as we’ve felt the presence of the Lord among us and within us, recalibrating, reinterpreting, just bringing us to a place where we can see what freedom tastes like and then move out from here and bring it back wherever we are going. So, thank you for your continued prayers over that and all of you women who are listening either together in the morning or maybe you’re listening and you’re on your way back and it’s over now, well done, well done. It has been such an honor to be in your presence and to be together like this. And, so, for the rest of us let’s just continue to pray. There’s a lot of travel happening today, a lot of flights going out today, a lot of driving miles happening. So, we just pray for God’s comfort, stamina, wisdom, instruction, safety over our vehicles, all the technology involved, everything that’s involved in migrating back to our homes all over the world. So, thank you for your prayers.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi, my name is Luke. I’m calling for prayer that God would help me to understand his word better, that He would unlock it. A lot of times when I’m reading the word just a million thoughts would come into my head that wouldn’t come into my head unless I was reading the word and that’ll be strong because over the past few months I’ve had a lot of spiritual warfare that I went through, just a lot of headaches and stuff like that, people on my job that are not for me so to speak. But, you know, help me to love. I’m praying that you guys would pray for me to help me love my enemies because the more time I spend with God the more I realize that there’s a lot of enemies out there, that the people of God, and, you know, that’s about it. Thank you.

Hi family, this is Desperate. I’m calling because I feel guilty as a mom for even having my son. He was born…his dad didn’t want him, and I wanted him even though I knew my marriage was not gonna last. Since he was born he was rejected by his father and his family, his earthly family. And he’s struggled, we’ve struggled __ everything. He turned out to be a good son __ never in trouble but he’s just been struggling so much lately and I’m so desperate because he has no job, he hasn’t had one in a while. And he just is so confused. I’m so needing the Lord to answer and I’ve been praying without ceasing for him, not for the desires for the type of job he wants but that God would lead him. __ lost a relationship and now he’s losing his dog and now he’s thinking of even putting the dog for adoption only because he can’t afford to keep him. Please pray for him, pray for me because I just feel guilty as his mom who brought him in this world without being able to provide for him.

Good morning my Daily Audio Bible, family this is Sharon in Southern California. Let me just say that I still haven’t heard from my daughter or the kids and I appreciate your prayers. Thank you. And I know the Lord will work out that situation. I’m calling today because I just found out this morning that my husband has been drinking in secret without me knowing and I don’t know for how long. I have an issue with that, that is my deal breaker. We’ve been married for 14 years, it will be 15 in August. And I’m an incest survivor. I’ve been molested from when I was a baby until I was 12 and each time they were drunk, most of the time they were drunk. So, my issue, my trigger is drinking. I suspected he has been drinking. He kept denying it until I found the evidence this morning. I’m asking for your prayers. I love my husband. I don’t want to leave but I can’t live…I can’t live like this. Please pray. Thank you.

Good morning Daily Audio Bible. Hey this is Scott in Alaska calling you from Alaska, of course, overlooking the southeastern mountains and I can see over the __ here __ west of Anchorage. I’ve got a prayer request. I have a job interview later today that’s to teach at the local college and the request __. I’ve taught at this college before as an adjunct for a few years off and on and they’ve asked me several times to interview and I’ve decided to interview and my request is, of course, that the interview go well but more that I have a sense of humility and a sense of, you know, that this is a gift that these people want me to come interview and it’s quite a blessing. And thankfully I’ve had a really arrogant attitude about this and that is not a very godly attitude. That is no way to bring God into the interview room when I’m sitting there thinking I’m all that and a bag of chips because they’ve asked for me to come interview. Anyway, so I would just ask that you guys pray that I have a sense of humility and a sense of right-sized-ness and a sense about thankfulness that I’ve been asked to come and do this, and we’ll see where it goes from here. I mean, as proof of the fact that I need prayer for humility, I haven’t even thought about asking for prayer until the day of the interview. So, that tells you right there the size of my ego and arrogance, it’s unbelievable. Thankfully God’s love is even more unbelievable. Appreciate all your prayers and thanks again for doing this. And I will talk with you guys later…oh my goodness this is such a beautiful morning. I hope it’s as beautiful where you’re at. Bye.
