Deuteronomy 18:1-20:20, Luke 9:28-50, Psalms 73:1-28, Proverbs 12:10

Today is the 1st day of April, Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It’s great to be here with you today. And is not just the first day of April, today is Easter Sunday. The most important day in human history, resurrection Sunday. And we’ve been spending an entire season contemplating the things that are out of alignment in our lives and going through the Lenten season and truly contemplating what sin does to us, steals, kills, and destroys us. And we moved through the last couple of days deeply contemplating the cost of removing the darkness from our lives. And here we are. All of that is over. We have been set free. Christ our savior is risen.

Keith Green – The Victor Lyrics

Swallowed into earth’s dark womb
And death has triumphed
That’s what they say
But tried to hold him in the tomb
The son of life
Rose on the third day

 Just look
The gates of hell
They’re falling
Crumbling from the inside out
He’s bursting through
The walls with laughter (hah!)
Listen to the angels shout

It is finished
He has done it
Life conquered death
Jesus christ
Has won it

His plan of battle
You know it
He fooled them all
They led him off to prison to die
But as he entered hades hall

He broke those hellish chains with a cry
Just listen to those demons screaming
See him bruise the serpent’s head
The prisoners of hell
He’s redeeming (oh!)
All the power of death is dead

It is finished
He has done it
Life conquered death
Jesus christ
Has won it
Just look

The gates of hell they’re falling
Crumbling from the inside out
He’s bursting through the walls with laughter (hah!)
Listen to the angels shout
(listen, oh, listen)

 It is finished
He has done it
Life conquered death
Jesus christ
Has won it

It is finished
He has done it
Life conquered death
Jesus christ
Has won it

So, we’ve got a brand-new, shiny, sparkly week out in front of us. And we begin this week on the shiniest and sparkliest of all days. Happy Easter everybody. May we rejoice in our salvation. This week we will read from the English standard version. And of, course, as this is the case every single day. We’ll pick up where we left off. And where we left off is in the book of Deuteronomy where Moses is speaking his final statements to the children of Israel. Today we’ll read Deuteronomy chapter 18, 19 and 20.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You that it washes over us, cleansing us, setting us aright, inspiring us, correcting us, leading us toward You. And as we begin this brand-new week we are rejoicing with every cell in our bodies because You came for us. You were victorious over death and the grave. You were victorious over sin and darkness and You have invited us to collaborate with You in Your kingdom in this world to replace darkness with light and life and good news. And this good news is that we are no longer separated from one another. We are reunited in relationship and fellowship in friendship and intimacy and collaboration in life and we thank You. We are rejoicing because of this gift, a gift that we certainly can’t manufacture, a gift that we certainly cannot buy, a gift that we certainly cannot earn, but one that You give to us freely, restoring us to who we were created to be. Sin no longer has a claim to us other than what we allow. We invite Your Holy Spirit to make this a reality in our lives, that we might walk upright and true and like Christ, our Savior, in this world. We rejoice in Your victory, and we rejoice that You have bestowed that victory upon us. We thank You Father for this Easter morning, a day where our brothers and sisters millions and millions, billions of us around the world are all rejoicing together, where we set aside our cultural and theological and political differences and rejoice in the one essential thing, You are the victor. You have been victorious and You have brought salvation to mankind. We Love You Jesus and we worship You. We ask Holy Spirit that You make the joy of our salvation burn bright around the world today. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.

Song:

Death where is Your Sting – Cory Asbury

For God so loved the world, He gave His Son
To bear the weight of sin, He bled for us
From Heaven’s highest place, He took a fall
And there was just one life, laid down for all

Death, where is your sting?
Grave, where is your victory?
He’s alive, He’s alive
He is risen!

Behold the vacant tomb that held our Lord
That grave became the stage for Heaven’s glory
And behold the Risen King in open skies
He is the Resurrection, He is the life

Death, where is your sting?
Grave, where is your victory?
He’s alive, He’s alive
He is risen!

No weapon formed against us will prosper
The gates of hell won’t stand
Your Church will rise from glory to glory
In the name of Jesus
No weapon formed against us will prosper
The gates of hell won’t stand
And Your Church will rise from glory to glory

In the name of Jesus
Death, where is your sting?
Grave, where is your victory?
He’s alive, He’s alive
He is risen!

Death, where is your sting?
Grave, where is your victory?
He’s alive, He’s alive
He is risen!
