Numbers 32:1-33:39, Luke 4:L31-5:11, Psalms 64:1-10, Proverbs 11:22

Today is the 21st day of March.  Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It’s great to be here with you. Next step forward is right in front of us, like we’ve lifted up our foot and we’re reaching forward to plant it down as we move forward through the Scriptures. And we do that by picking up where we left off yesterday and moving forward. So, today from the New Living Translation, Numbers chapter 32 verse 1 through 33 verse 39.

Commentary:

Alright. So, as we’re moving through the gospel of Luke today, some interesting questions begin to percolate. And then when we turn them toward ourselves, they kind of amount to this: why do you follow Jesus? It’s actually a more penetrating question than it might seem. If you sit with that for a minute, like, if you were to push pause and try to answer that question why do I follow Jesus, all kinds of answers can come to the surface and when we read into the gospel of Luke why people are following Jesus around, it kind of boils down to that He is a miracle worker who speaks with authority. And, so, people are coming from all around the countryside to hear Jesus and maybe hopefully get something from Jesus. Get some sort of touch of healing or deliverance from Jesus. And, of course, there’s nothing wrong with this, but it just exposes the motivation. Like, why am I getting up off of my sleeping mat, leaving my home walking for miles to find this Jesus, to listen to this Jesus? But for many of these people, it was because they needed something, whether it was words of hope and authority or whether it was a healing touch in some sort of way. So, as we continue to read forward and as the story progresses, Jesus has a crowd around Him and He’s kind of pressed up against the shores of the Sea of Galilee. And there’s a couple of boats. And, so, He just hops into one of the boats, which is an interesting thing to do, especially if it’s not your boat, but it was Simon’s boat and Jesus had been to Simon’s house so that all makes sense. Jesus goes out into the water where He can sit down and not be pressed into the water and He teaches the crowds. When He’s done, He asked His experienced friends who were fishermen, who actually knew the Sea of Galilee and made their living on the Sea of Galilee, to row out into deeper water and cast their nets down. And it’s Simon Peter and he says, Well, if this is what you want us to do, rabbi, then we’ll do this. But just so you know, we were fishing all night. When you showed up, we were cleaning off our nets so we can get some rest. Like, we kind of know what we’re doing. We fished all night and we didn’t catch anything. But if this is what you want, then we’ll do it. And, so, they go out into the deep, cast their nets down into the water, right? And then this huge horde of fish is so large that it’s tearing their nets. The other boat has to come out and help. And by the time it’s done, both of these fishing boats are so full of fish that the boats are in danger of capsizing. So, Simon Peter, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, they have just got the catch of a lifetime. Like, their boats are so full of fish right now that maybe they’re going to get ahead on their payments. Maybe they have boat payments, maybe they have bills to pay. Maybe they are finally going to get ahead. God has truly blessed them. So that’s a reason to follow Jesus. And, after all, they do become His disciples. So, that’s a reason to follow Jesus. But we see that their heart’s posture is so awestruck that it becomes something far more than what they can get from Jesus. Simon Peter falls to his knees and he’s like, Lord, leave. Leave me. I don’t deserve to be in your presence. I’m such a sinful man. So, we’re seeing Peter’s heart in this. And Jesus tells Him, don’t be afraid. From now on, you’ll be fishing for people. And then here’s the kicker. As they are getting the catch of a lifetime, the opportunity to get ahead in life, maybe financially, maybe add a boat to the fleet, who knows? As they get to the shore, and I’m quoting the Scripture here, and as soon as they landed, they left everything and followed Jesus. So, obviously in this moment it went beyond what they could get from Jesus. They left it all and followed Him, knowing that what they had just experienced and what they had been seeing was clearly from God. And they were so convinced that they left everything. They left this great opportunity to follow Jesus. So, the question comes up: why am I following Jesus? Is it because of what He can do for me? Is it because of what His words bring up and do inside me? Is it because I think my life could be better with Him in it? Or does being in His presence make the world diminish and fade away and I see the presence of God before me. And my circumstances, whether challenging or whether bountiful, have so much less significance that I’ll follow Him anywhere because I cannot stand to be out of His presence. This is God. I want to be in His presence and whatever He goes, I’m going. That’s the posture of heart that we see in these disciples today as they begin to follow the path of Jesus and His ministry. And the posture of heart that we need to cultivate and adopt in our own lives.

Prayer:

And, so, Jesus we invite You into that question. Why are we walking with You? Why are we following You? And we invite Your Holy Spirit to bring up all of those things. None of them are wrong. We’re following You for lots of reasons, but we’re asking You to get to the bedrock of this. Is it because being in Your presence is the only place in this world that makes any sense and that nothing else is more important? This is the longing of our heart. Come Holy Spirit, we pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hello Daily Audio Bible family. Let’s pray. Father, we come together as a family to pray for sister Mel of Florida whose suffering from insomnia Lord. But she did exactly what she supposed to do Lord. She’s in the midst of her battle, she’s deep in the pit like David and reached out to You Father. And we just ask Lord that You would just come to her Lord, anoint here with peace, anoint her with sleep Father. For the glory of Your kingdom, let her know Lord what it is to rest fully Lord that she can have the rest needed to go on and be Your kingdom. And Lord we love You, we honor You, we pray this in Jesus’ name. I also want to pray for the men of the United States of America. I just ask that we come together Lord and lift up Lord men, honorable men of character Lord, that they would see their call, their noble call to lift up others, young men Father. That’s what we’re missing in this country so much is that men aren’t getting up to fight the good fight Lord and other men aren’t teaching those ways and I just ask Lord that every good honorable and man of character listening here today would find somebody to begin to pour that understanding and that goodness into Father, just so we can turn the tide of our families of the Youth of this country Father God. That’s what we need to Lord, is Your representation in the men of this country Lord to be honorable and of high character Lord, to be vulnerable with each other enough to admit their faults and to move forward. Thank You for praying with me family. This is Delta Alpha Foxtrot calling from the southern Texas front.

Hey family it’s Jordan from Michigan. I need prayer more than ever right now. So, two weeks ago I got engaged to a lovely woman, but five days ago she said that I need to talk to you in five days about something and we can talk until then. And, so, I’ve been in agony and anxiety for five days waiting and I found out that she’s breaking off our engagement. She gave me the ring back and it was because the distance was too much and because I had committed some sins that she had a hard time forgetting about. And she also said that I was relying too much on her for peace and comfort and not enough on God. And I’m just so broken right now. I’m just beside myself with grief. It’s been the worst five days of my life. And I just need God right now. So please, please pray for me. Thank you.

[Singing] Jesus I love you because you first loved me. Oh Lord Your blessings are so long for me. And how you keep me going dear Lord day by day. Jesus, I love you in every way. [Singing ends]

Hello Daily Audio Bible this is Duane from Wisconsin. All praise and glory to God. Today is 8:27. I’m praying for our children, March 18. Dear Lord, today I want to lift up all of our children out there, those that are struggling with depression, physical needs, mental needs, financial needs Lord. We ask that You allow Your grace to enter them, to protect them, to heal them, to draw them closer to You. We ask You also to be over those who are orphans who don’t have parents. We ask that You allow people out there who are able to to support them to come into their lives and if possible adopt them and if they go to adopt that the road will be smooth and that You will help overcome any hurdles that may come in the way. And we ask that You be with those who are being used in the sex trafficking Lord. We ask that You give them comfort, peace, and remove that evil for their life. Block those people that are doing that __. We ask that You turn their cold hearts from what that they’re doing, to soften their hearts and turn to your Lord for forgiveness and to stop that evil trade. We ask that those out there who are hungry Lord that You allow them to have food and give them nourishment that they need and more importantly Your spiritual nourishment. We lift this all up to You Lord Jesus. In Jesus name. Amen. And God bless.

Hi this is Joanne from New Jersey. A shout out to DAB Israel 2018. Hi everybody. First of all, I want to say just thank you again to Brian and his family for doing this and all of the people who are  in the background. It’s been a blessing to me. Second of all, I would like to just encourage John from Florida who called in on Saturday the 17th. Your call really touched my heart. I will definitely be in prayer, you know, with the lawsuit that you’re dealing with. And one thing that I do want to submit to you and your family is just continue doing what you’re doing, crying out to the Lord. And forgive, forgiveness. And ask the Lord about forgiveness and what it will do to release the spirit in the situation, open your eyes and set you free, and also set your adversary free. So, please just go before the Lord and this is coming from someone who has seen the ravages of unforgiveness, bitterness, you know, completely destroying people’s lives and also in the midst of it for self, in learning about forgiveness for self. So, I hope you can hear this and know that I am praying and I’m standing and fighting from the same place. So, all right. Bless you. Bye-bye.

Numbers 32:1-33:39

The Tribes East of the Jordan

32 The tribes of Reuben and Gad owned vast numbers of livestock. So when they saw that the lands of Jazer and Gilead were ideally suited for their flocks and herds, they came to Moses, Eleazar the priest, and the other leaders of the community. They said, “Notice the towns of Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sibmah,[a] Nebo, and Beon. The Lord has conquered this whole area for the community of Israel, and it is ideally suited for all our livestock. If we have found favor with you, please let us have this land as our property instead of giving us land across the Jordan River.”

“Do you intend to stay here while your brothers go across and do all the fighting?” Moses asked the men of Gad and Reuben. “Why do you want to discourage the rest of the people of Israel from going across to the land the Lord has given them? Your ancestors did the same thing when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to explore the land. After they went up to the valley of Eshcol and explored the land, they discouraged the people of Israel from entering the land the Lord was giving them. 10 Then the Lord was very angry with them, and he vowed, 11 ‘Of all those I rescued from Egypt, no one who is twenty years old or older will ever see the land I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, for they have not obeyed me wholeheartedly. 12 The only exceptions are Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua son of Nun, for they have wholeheartedly followed the Lord.’

13 “The Lord was angry with Israel and made them wander in the wilderness for forty years until the entire generation that sinned in the Lord’s sight had died. 14 But here you are, a brood of sinners, doing exactly the same thing! You are making the Lord even angrier with Israel. 15 If you turn away from him like this and he abandons them again in the wilderness, you will be responsible for destroying this entire nation!”

16 But they approached Moses and said, “We simply want to build pens for our livestock and fortified towns for our wives and children. 17 Then we will arm ourselves and lead our fellow Israelites into battle until we have brought them safely to their land. Meanwhile, our families will stay in the fortified towns we build here, so they will be safe from any attacks by the local people. 18 We will not return to our homes until all the people of Israel have received their portions of land. 19 But we do not claim any of the land on the other side of the Jordan. We would rather live here on the east side and accept this as our grant of land.”

20 Then Moses said, “If you keep your word and arm yourselves for the Lord’s battles, 21 and if your troops cross the Jordan and keep fighting until the Lord has driven out his enemies, 22 then you may return when the Lord has conquered the land. You will have fulfilled your duty to the Lord and to the rest of the people of Israel. And the land on the east side of the Jordan will be your property from the Lord. 23 But if you fail to keep your word, then you will have sinned against the Lord, and you may be sure that your sin will find you out. 24 Go ahead and build towns for your families and pens for your flocks, but do everything you have promised.”

25 Then the men of Gad and Reuben replied, “We, your servants, will follow your instructions exactly. 26 Our children, wives, flocks, and cattle will stay here in the towns of Gilead. 27 But all who are able to bear arms will cross over to fight for the Lord, just as you have said.”

28 So Moses gave orders to Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the leaders of the clans of Israel. 29 He said, “The men of Gad and Reuben who are armed for battle must cross the Jordan with you to fight for the Lord. If they do, give them the land of Gilead as their property when the land is conquered. 30 But if they refuse to arm themselves and cross over with you, then they must accept land with the rest of you in the land of Canaan.”

31 The tribes of Gad and Reuben said again, “We are your servants, and we will do as the Lord has commanded! 32 We will cross the Jordan into Canaan fully armed to fight for the Lord, but our property will be here on this side of the Jordan.”

33 So Moses assigned land to the tribes of Gad, Reuben, and half the tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph. He gave them the territory of King Sihon of the Amorites and the land of King Og of Bashan—the whole land with its cities and surrounding lands.

34 The descendants of Gad built the towns of Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer, 35 Atroth-shophan, Jazer, Jogbehah, 36 Beth-nimrah, and Beth-haran. These were all fortified towns with pens for their flocks.

37 The descendants of Reuben built the towns of Heshbon, Elealeh, Kiriathaim, 38 Nebo, Baal-meon, and Sibmah. They changed the names of some of the towns they conquered and rebuilt.

39 Then the descendants of Makir of the tribe of Manasseh went to Gilead and conquered it, and they drove out the Amorites living there. 40 So Moses gave Gilead to the Makirites, descendants of Manasseh, and they settled there. 41 The people of Jair, another clan of the tribe of Manasseh, captured many of the towns in Gilead and changed the name of that region to the Towns of Jair.[b] 42 Meanwhile, a man named Nobah captured the town of Kenath and its surrounding villages, and he renamed that area Nobah after himself.

Remembering Israel’s Journey

33 This is the route the Israelites followed as they marched out of Egypt under the leadership of Moses and Aaron. At the Lord’s direction, Moses kept a written record of their progress. These are the stages of their march, identified by the different places where they stopped along the way.

They set out from the city of Rameses in early spring—on the fifteenth day of the first month[c]—on the morning after the first Passover celebration. The people of Israel left defiantly, in full view of all the Egyptians. Meanwhile, the Egyptians were burying all their firstborn sons, whom the Lord had killed the night before. The Lord had defeated the gods of Egypt that night with great acts of judgment!

After leaving Rameses, the Israelites set up camp at Succoth.

Then they left Succoth and camped at Etham on the edge of the wilderness.

They left Etham and turned back toward Pi-hahiroth, opposite Baal-zephon, and camped near Migdol.

They left Pi-hahiroth[d] and crossed the Red Sea[e] into the wilderness beyond. Then they traveled for three days into the Etham wilderness and camped at Marah.

They left Marah and camped at Elim, where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees.

10 They left Elim and camped beside the Red Sea.[f]

11 They left the Red Sea and camped in the wilderness of Sin.[g]

12 They left the wilderness of Sin and camped at Dophkah.

13 They left Dophkah and camped at Alush.

14 They left Alush and camped at Rephidim, where there was no water for the people to drink.

15 They left Rephidim and camped in the wilderness of Sinai.

16 They left the wilderness of Sinai and camped at Kibroth-hattaavah.

17 They left Kibroth-hattaavah and camped at Hazeroth.

18 They left Hazeroth and camped at Rithmah.

19 They left Rithmah and camped at Rimmon-perez.

20 They left Rimmon-perez and camped at Libnah.

21 They left Libnah and camped at Rissah.

22 They left Rissah and camped at Kehelathah.

23 They left Kehelathah and camped at Mount Shepher.

24 They left Mount Shepher and camped at Haradah.

25 They left Haradah and camped at Makheloth.

26 They left Makheloth and camped at Tahath.

27 They left Tahath and camped at Terah.

28 They left Terah and camped at Mithcah.

29 They left Mithcah and camped at Hashmonah.

30 They left Hashmonah and camped at Moseroth.

31 They left Moseroth and camped at Bene-jaakan.

32 They left Bene-jaakan and camped at Hor-haggidgad.

33 They left Hor-haggidgad and camped at Jotbathah.

34 They left Jotbathah and camped at Abronah.

35 They left Abronah and camped at Ezion-geber.

36 They left Ezion-geber and camped at Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.

37 They left Kadesh and camped at Mount Hor, at the border of Edom. 38 While they were at the foot of Mount Hor, Aaron the priest was directed by the Lord to go up the mountain, and there he died. This happened in midsummer, on the first day of the fifth month[h] of the fortieth year after Israel’s departure from Egypt. 39 Aaron was 123 years old when he died there on Mount Hor.

Luke 4:31-5:11

Jesus Casts Out a Demon

31 Then Jesus went to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and taught there in the synagogue every Sabbath day. 32 There, too, the people were amazed at his teaching, for he spoke with authority.

33 Once when he was in the synagogue, a man possessed by a demon—an evil[a] spirit—cried out, shouting, 34 “Go away! Why are you interfering with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”

35 But Jesus reprimanded him. “Be quiet! Come out of the man,” he ordered. At that, the demon threw the man to the floor as the crowd watched; then it came out of him without hurting him further.

36 Amazed, the people exclaimed, “What authority and power this man’s words possess! Even evil spirits obey him, and they flee at his command!” 37 The news about Jesus spread through every village in the entire region.

Jesus Heals Many People

38 After leaving the synagogue that day, Jesus went to Simon’s home, where he found Simon’s mother-in-law very sick with a high fever. “Please heal her,” everyone begged. 39 Standing at her bedside, he rebuked the fever, and it left her. And she got up at once and prepared a meal for them.

40 As the sun went down that evening, people throughout the village brought sick family members to Jesus. No matter what their diseases were, the touch of his hand healed every one. 41 Many were possessed by demons; and the demons came out at his command, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But because they knew he was the Messiah, he rebuked them and refused to let them speak.

Jesus Continues to Preach

42 Early the next morning Jesus went out to an isolated place. The crowds searched everywhere for him, and when they finally found him, they begged him not to leave them. 43 But he replied, “I must preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God in other towns, too, because that is why I was sent.” 44 So he continued to travel around, preaching in synagogues throughout Judea.[b]

The First Disciples

One day as Jesus was preaching on the shore of the Sea of Galilee,[c] great crowds pressed in on him to listen to the word of God. He noticed two empty boats at the water’s edge, for the fishermen had left them and were washing their nets. Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon,[d] its owner, to push it out into the water. So he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there.

When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.”

“Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking.

When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, “Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m such a sinful man.” For he was awestruck by the number of fish they had caught, as were the others with him. 10 His partners, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, were also amazed.

Jesus replied to Simon, “Don’t be afraid! From now on you’ll be fishing for people!” 11 And as soon as they landed, they left everything and followed Jesus.

Psalm 64

Psalm 64

For the choir director: A psalm of David.

O God, listen to my complaint.
Protect my life from my enemies’ threats.
Hide me from the plots of this evil mob,
from this gang of wrongdoers.
They sharpen their tongues like swords
and aim their bitter words like arrows.
They shoot from ambush at the innocent,
attacking suddenly and fearlessly.
They encourage each other to do evil
and plan how to set their traps in secret.
“Who will ever notice?” they ask.
As they plot their crimes, they say,
“We have devised the perfect plan!”
Yes, the human heart and mind are cunning.

But God himself will shoot them with his arrows,
suddenly striking them down.
Their own tongues will ruin them,
and all who see them will shake their heads in scorn.
Then everyone will be afraid;
they will proclaim the mighty acts of God
and realize all the amazing things he does.
10 The godly will rejoice in the Lord
and find shelter in him.
And those who do what is right
will praise him.

Numbers 30:1-31:54, Luke 4:1-30, Psalms 63:1-11, Proverbs 11:20-21

Today is the 20th of March. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is wonderful to be here with you today to do what we do every day -  take another step forward in the Scriptures as we move all the way through every word of every page in a year and explore the depths and treasures that are found in the Scriptures as we apply them to our lives. So, it’s great to be here with you for the next step because every step counts and every step matters. We’re reading from the New Living Translation this week, picking up where we left off yesterday. Numbers chapter 30 and chapter 31 today.

Commentary:

Alright. So, a couple of things to point out today. Remember that story that we read a few days ago with the talking donkey and this known diviner or prophet named Balaam? Well a battle is fought today and Balaam gets killed in it. So, kind of what we have in the Bible is the beginning of the story and the ending of the story and then we have to piece together the middle of the story because this isn’t the last time we’ll hear the name Balaam in the Bible. And Balaam is considered to be a pretty wicked man throughout Jewish history and the commentaries on the Torah from rabbis of antiquity. So, what was his involvement that he should be killed in battle today? Because we had the incident with the angel standing against him, revealing that his pride was getting the best of him and the promise of what was to come. And, so, we considered all of that as we applied it to our own lives. But what happened in the interim between that incident and his death in battle in today’s reading? It was that he didn’t just obey the word of the Lord, bless the children of Israel and leave. He continued to meddle. And he gave advice that caused the children of Israel to enter into idolatry. And the advice that he gave was that the women should go and seduce the Israelite men. If they could get the Israelite men into bed with them, then they could get the Israelite men to do just about anything. And that’s what happened. The children of Israel were led into idolatry through the seduction of the Medianite women, which is the point of the entire battle that we read about today. So, Balaam certainly did obey God after the angelic visitation in which he almost lost his life. I mean, that put the fear of God in him, literally. But later he circled back around, gave some advice on how these foreign people might be able to conquer the children of Israel without having to fight them, which gives us pause to consider the ways in which we are being taken off the narrow path that leads to life because we’re being seduced in other directions. Or for that matter, how we nudge people off their own journey by manipulation. These are certainly serious things to God. God went to battle against it, so they’re serious to God, so we should make them serious to ourselves and invite the Holy Spirit to show us places that we’ve been seduced away. Or for that matter, like I said, places that we’re being the seducer, even if unwittingly. Because as we can see from the Scriptures, that path where that goes isn’t going anywhere good. So, we shouldn’t be involved, either as the seduced or the seducing, as the manipulated or the manipulator.

And then we get into the Gospel of Luke and Jesus is beginning His ministry. So, He’s been baptized and He’s led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit for forty days where He’s tempted by the devil and we have the famous passages of the temptation of Christ. And it’s very easy for us to take this one scene and go, well, there, Jesus overcame the devil and He didn’t have to deal with any kind of temptation or anything like that anymore, and so that’s what gave Him the power. Like, He overcame the devil in the wilderness and there was no more temptation of any sort for Him. He was able to just focus on His mission. That’s not true, though. Jesus lived a fully human life as a fully human man. So, as we all know as human beings, we can overcome temptation but it’s not like a one-off thing. Things are constantly being spun at us, right? There’s manipulation, seduction that we just talked about in the case of Balaam. It never goes away. And that would have been the case for Jesus because, as we read in the gospel of Luke, when the devil had finished tempting Jesus, He left Him until the next opportunity came. So, I’m going to ring a bell that I’ve been ringing all along as we move through the Scriptures because it’s so important. What are any of these temptations intended to do? They’re intended to deceive us so that we will walk another path. In the case of the Midianites, the women came and seduced the men of Israel away from God and into idolatry through sex, which is a very, very powerful thing. But underneath all of that, what was happening? They were being deceived so that they would walk another path and worship another god. And we read the temptation of Jesus. It’s the same thing. Deception - I’ll give you all of this if you will simply walk a different way. And we see that Jesus dealt with this like we all do. So, would you pay close attention to the movements of Jesus because Jesus isn’t just spending 33 years on planet earth so He can grow up enough so He can die on a cross and be executed and shed His blood. Yes, that’s the purchase of our souls. But His life is the model for what He’s providing us through His death and resurrection. Jesus is showing us how to be human on planet earth in a fallen world successfully. And if there’s one thing that we can certainly say about Jesus, there was no deception in Him. He always saw the story behind the story.  The plot that was really going on. And He always spoke to those things. So, He was always speaking directly at the truth, pulling out the truth from the culture around Him. Pulling it out and speaking to that. He couldn’t be seduced away, right? And many attempts were made. Not only from Satan, but from other people around Him. What got Jesus ultimately in trouble is that He was speaking the truth to the religious establishment and they couldn’t co-opt Him. They couldn’t use Him to become one of them. He could have been such a powerful and revered rabbi if He had been willing to play ball with the establishment, but He wasn’t. Not because He didn’t like anybody or didn’t care. It was false and there was nothing false in Jesus and He was calling them back to the truth and they didn’t want the truth and so they killed Him. So, once again, to ring that bell, deception is the greatest enemy we have spiritually. All of the things that we get seduced away from God and into come through deception. This is the thing we’ve got to guard our hearts from vigilantly if we want to be Christ like.

Prayer:

So, Father, we invite You into this because it comes up in both old and new testaments and we have stark examples of how deception seduces us and our hearts away from You and offers us the promise of something that we’re willing to give our heart in worship to. And we repent of that. Because as we look at our lives, we can find all kinds of weeds and snarly little vines all around that we’ve allowed and we’ve allowed to flourish inside of our hearts. And we’re inviting Your Holy Spirit to rid us of deception. Help us to cut those weeds down, pull them out, pile them up and burn them. So that we might be true. Because we will never be whole and holy if we are not true. If deception is in us, then we are not true. Come, Holy Spirit. Lead us into all truth as You’ve promised. We ask in Jesus name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hello Daily Audio Bible family. This is Alfi calling from Delaware. I hope that each one of you is blessed. This call is especially for Colin. Colin my brother, I want to say praying for you. And I want you to hear me say something to you right now. So, I remember from the very first time that you joined the community. We’ve been together with you through your journey and we have seen the work God has done in your life. Now, if you remember every time that we are reading Bible, especially in the Old Testament, how the Israelites used to make little monuments on their journey. It was to point them into a point in their life whereby they would remember what God has done to them in their monuments -  however that in their life or in their journey. Colin, I understand what kind of life and what kind of troubles and what kind of struggles that you’re going through because I have been there. And Jesus Christ never promised an easy life to anyone of us. He actually said that in this world we will have troubles and tribulations but He made the promise that He would never leave us nor forsake us. So, I pray for you my brother and I pray that you might go back and see the journey of life that you’ve had and see all the good things that God has done for you and has pulled you through. And remember that. Let that be a wall of remembrance for you. Because those of the kind of things that will give you hope, that will give you strength to go through the present struggles that you’re going through. So, remember. And hold onto the hope because God is the same yesterday today and forever and He will never forsake you. My brother I pray for you. I know that God is going to see you through and your life is a testimony to how great God has been to us.

Who you gonna believe the devil in me
Are you walking by faith or what you can see
I told you your parents would both be all right
So keep walking by faith and forget about site
The devil’s whole plan is designed to deceive
And make you doubt everything I said you’d receive
He’s a god and the ruler of this world
There’s plenty of room for his plans to unfurl
Creating choices and opportunities and decisions for you
Will you believe what you see or that which is true
If you believe what you see you have anxiety of heart
That will continue to build until it tears you apart
And still in the end you’ll come running back to me
Regardless of what your eyes tend to see
For I am that I am and I do what I do
And that’s universal it’s not just for you
I love you very much you should know that by now
But still you continue to doubt me somehow
Know that your mother is also loved too
And my mercy for her is independent of you
The path from her heart that leads to my door
Was well-worn with praises before your before
I promise you a chance to make your make your amends
To both of your parents before this life ends
So keep on believing have faith when you pray
Forget what you see your folks are okay

Another good way is bringing community in. __ if you’ve tried it. With everything else, I hope everything else is going okay. And just believe and trust in God. That’s one of the things that we are reading in today’s DAB, that we can often look back and forget about the things that he’s lead us through. So just encouragement for every one of us really, to hold onto all of the things that you’ve done in the past and the pain and to __ elements of difficulty in our lives right now. So, I pray this for you. And have a great day everybody. Bye.

Hi family. This is Craving Peace from Pennsylvania and I just wanted to thank you all for your prayers and thank you Brian and Jill for all that you do and your family. Family, I’m reaching out today for my son Jacob. He has been struggling. He just turned 18 March 3rd and he has been struggling with thoughts of taking his life, fear of being an adult, and just so many things that are frightening to a parent. And I’m praying for him and trying really hard to be strong. And I know that so many of us as parents, that’s the last thing you want to think of. So, I just want to pray for all of our children. Please join me family. Father, I thank You for all of our children and Father I just pray for strength for them, that they would look to You, that all of the things that are frightening would no longer be frightening to them and they would be able to find someone to come alongside them to help them. I thank You for Jacob and for all children, Dylan, so, so, many others Father that…

Hi Audio Bible family. My name is __. I’m a new listener from the UK and I’ve listened since January. I’ve missed a few episodes but I keep praying for you daily. I keep praying for you all. I’m not very good with names but I keep praying for you about what’s going on in your life and when you touch my heart. I’m ringing for a prayer request for myself and what might be for my daughter. I’ve been having trouble with mental health these past…ever since I was a teenager through bullying and through an abusive relationship, which I am now out of and in a new relationship, but I’m confused. I’m not sure what to do because I go through dark episodes and suicidal episodes and then I keep having relapses and keep coming and finding myself. And God it keeps disappearing again and I’m just lost on my path on what to do. I’m in a relationship with a non-Christian of three years now and I don’t know whether to go ahead with it because I do get guilt from it but he gives me…it gives me such love. And I don’t know whether to move closer to him because we’re living five hours away from it and I’d like to commit to that path but now not sure what I’m supposed to do. And I just need some praying prayer and guidance but mostly for my daughter Jasmine who is 18. She’s still good with depression and anxiety mostly because of problems I’ve had because __ disorder and she’s just going up and down all the time. She’s having trouble finding the reason to keep living and not being able to access support needed to fight this. And she’s just struggling to keep her head above water but she’s got such life and her. She’s got positivity in her and I just need prayer for both of us just to find a way through it because our relationship is not good because of the issues that I had. I’ve driven her…drifted apart and this is why my daughter is looking for accommodation…

The Daily Audio Bible Reading for Tuesday March 20, 2018 (NIV)

Numbers 30-31

Laws concerning Vows

30 [a]Then Moses summoned the leaders of the tribes of Israel and told them, “This is what the Lord has commanded: A man who makes a vow to the Lord or makes a pledge under oath must never break it. He must do exactly what he said he would do.

“If a young woman makes a vow to the Lord or a pledge under oath while she is still living at her father’s home, and her father hears of the vow or pledge and does not object to it, then all her vows and pledges will stand. But if her father refuses to let her fulfill the vow or pledge on the day he hears of it, then all her vows and pledges will become invalid. The Lord will forgive her because her father would not let her fulfill them.

“Now suppose a young woman makes a vow or binds herself with an impulsive pledge and later marries. If her husband learns of her vow or pledge and does not object on the day he hears of it, her vows and pledges will stand. But if her husband refuses to accept her vow or impulsive pledge on the day he hears of it, he nullifies her commitments, and the Lord will forgive her. If, however, a woman is a widow or is divorced, she must fulfill all her vows and pledges.

10 “But suppose a woman is married and living in her husband’s home when she makes a vow or binds herself with a pledge. 11 If her husband hears of it and does not object to it, her vow or pledge will stand. 12 But if her husband refuses to accept it on the day he hears of it, her vow or pledge will be nullified, and the Lord will forgive her. 13 So her husband may either confirm or nullify any vows or pledges she makes to deny herself. 14 But if he does not object on the day he hears of it, then he is agreeing to all her vows and pledges. 15 If he waits more than a day and then tries to nullify a vow or pledge, he will be punished for her guilt.”

16 These are the regulations the Lord gave Moses concerning relationships between a man and his wife, and between a father and a young daughter who still lives at home.

Conquest of the Midianites

31 Then the Lord said to Moses, “On behalf of the people of Israel, take revenge on the Midianites for leading them into idolatry. After that, you will die and join your ancestors.”

So Moses said to the people, “Choose some men, and arm them to fight the Lord’s war of revenge against Midian. From each tribe of Israel, send 1,000 men into battle.” So they chose 1,000 men from each tribe of Israel, a total of 12,000 men armed for battle. Then Moses sent them out, 1,000 men from each tribe, and Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest led them into battle. They carried along the holy objects of the sanctuary and the trumpets for sounding the charge. They attacked Midian as the Lord had commanded Moses, and they killed all the men. All five of the Midianite kings—Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba—died in the battle. They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword.

Then the Israelite army captured the Midianite women and children and seized their cattle and flocks and all their wealth as plunder. 10 They burned all the towns and villages where the Midianites had lived. 11 After they had gathered the plunder and captives, both people and animals, 12 they brought them all to Moses and Eleazar the priest, and to the whole community of Israel, which was camped on the plains of Moab beside the Jordan River, across from Jericho. 13 Moses, Eleazar the priest, and all the leaders of the community went to meet them outside the camp. 14 But Moses was furious with all the generals and captains[b] who had returned from the battle.

15 “Why have you let all the women live?” he demanded. 16 “These are the very ones who followed Balaam’s advice and caused the people of Israel to rebel against the Lord at Mount Peor. They are the ones who caused the plague to strike the Lord’s people. 17 So kill all the boys and all the women who have had intercourse with a man. 18 Only the young girls who are virgins may live; you may keep them for yourselves. 19 And all of you who have killed anyone or touched a dead body must stay outside the camp for seven days. You must purify yourselves and your captives on the third and seventh days. 20 Purify all your clothing, too, and everything made of leather, goat hair, or wood.”

21 Then Eleazar the priest said to the men who were in the battle, “The Lord has given Moses this legal requirement: 22 Anything made of gold, silver, bronze, iron, tin, or lead— 23 that is, all metals that do not burn—must be passed through fire in order to be made ceremonially pure. These metal objects must then be further purified with the water of purification. But everything that burns must be purified by the water alone. 24 On the seventh day you must wash your clothes and be purified. Then you may return to the camp.”

Division of the Plunder

25 And the Lord said to Moses, 26 “You and Eleazar the priest and the family leaders of each tribe are to make a list of all the plunder taken in the battle, including the people and animals. 27 Then divide the plunder into two parts, and give half to the men who fought the battle and half to the rest of the people. 28 From the army’s portion, first give the Lord his share of the plunder—one of every 500 of the prisoners and of the cattle, donkeys, sheep, and goats. 29 Give this share of the army’s half to Eleazar the priest as an offering to the Lord. 30 From the half that belongs to the people of Israel, take one of every fifty of the prisoners and of the cattle, donkeys, sheep, goats, and other animals. Give this share to the Levites, who are in charge of maintaining the Lord’s Tabernacle.” 31 So Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the Lord commanded Moses.

32 The plunder remaining from everything the fighting men had taken totaled 675,000 sheep and goats, 33 72,000 cattle, 34 61,000 donkeys, 35 and 32,000 virgin girls.

36 Half of the plunder was given to the fighting men. It totaled 337,500 sheep and goats, 37 of which 675 were the Lord’s share; 38 36,000 cattle, of which 72 were the Lord’s share; 39 30,500 donkeys, of which 61 were the Lord’s share; 40 and 16,000 virgin girls, of whom 32 were the Lord’s share. 41 Moses gave all the Lord’s share to Eleazar the priest, just as the Lord had directed him.

42 Half of the plunder belonged to the people of Israel, and Moses separated it from the half belonging to the fighting men. 43 It totaled 337,500 sheep and goats, 44 36,000 cattle, 45 30,500 donkeys, 46 and 16,000 virgin girls. 47 From the half-share given to the people, Moses took one of every fifty prisoners and animals and gave them to the Levites, who maintained the Lord’s Tabernacle. All this was done as the Lord had commanded Moses.

48 Then all the generals and captains came to Moses 49 and said, “We, your servants, have accounted for all the men who went out to battle under our command; not one of us is missing! 50 So we are presenting the items of gold we captured as an offering to the Lord from our share of the plunder—armbands, bracelets, rings, earrings, and necklaces. This will purify our lives before the Lord and make us right with him.[c]

51 So Moses and Eleazar the priest received the gold from all the military commanders—all kinds of jewelry and crafted objects. 52 In all, the gold that the generals and captains presented as a gift to the Lord weighed about 420 pounds.[d] 53 All the fighting men had taken some of the plunder for themselves. 54 So Moses and Eleazar the priest accepted the gifts from the generals and captains and brought the gold to the Tabernacle[e] as a reminder to the Lord that the people of Israel belong to him.

Luke 4:1-30

The Temptation of Jesus

Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness,[a] where he was tempted by the devil for forty days. Jesus ate nothing all that time and became very hungry.

Then the devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become a loaf of bread.”

But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone.’[b]

Then the devil took him up and revealed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. “I will give you the glory of these kingdoms and authority over them,” the devil said, “because they are mine to give to anyone I please. I will give it all to you if you will worship me.”

Jesus replied, “The Scriptures say,

‘You must worship the Lord your God
and serve only him.’[c]

Then the devil took him to Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! 10 For the Scriptures say,

‘He will order his angels to protect and guard you.
11 And they will hold you up with their hands
so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.’[d]

12 Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the Lord your God.’[e]

13 When the devil had finished tempting Jesus, he left him until the next opportunity came.

Jesus Rejected at Nazareth

14 Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit’s power. Reports about him spread quickly through the whole region. 15 He taught regularly in their synagogues and was praised by everyone.

16 When he came to the village of Nazareth, his boyhood home, he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures. 17 The scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written:

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released,
that the blind will see,
that the oppressed will be set free,
19 and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.[f]

20 He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. All eyes in the synagogue looked at him intently. 21 Then he began to speak to them. “The Scripture you’ve just heard has been fulfilled this very day!”

22 Everyone spoke well of him and was amazed by the gracious words that came from his lips. “How can this be?” they asked. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?”

23 Then he said, “You will undoubtedly quote me this proverb: ‘Physician, heal yourself’—meaning, ‘Do miracles here in your hometown like those you did in Capernaum.’ 24 But I tell you the truth, no prophet is accepted in his own hometown.

25 “Certainly there were many needy widows in Israel in Elijah’s time, when the heavens were closed for three and a half years, and a severe famine devastated the land. 26 Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them. He was sent instead to a foreigner—a widow of Zarephath in the land of Sidon. 27 And many in Israel had leprosy in the time of the prophet Elisha, but the only one healed was Naaman, a Syrian.”

28 When they heard this, the people in the synagogue were furious. 29 Jumping up, they mobbed him and forced him to the edge of the hill on which the town was built. They intended to push him over the cliff, 30 but he passed right through the crowd and went on his way.

Psalm 63

Psalm 63

A psalm of David, regarding a time when David was in the wilderness of Judah.

O God, you are my God;
I earnestly search for you.
My soul thirsts for you;
my whole body longs for you
in this parched and weary land
where there is no water.
I have seen you in your sanctuary
and gazed upon your power and glory.
Your unfailing love is better than life itself;
how I praise you!
I will praise you as long as I live,
lifting up my hands to you in prayer.
You satisfy me more than the richest feast.
I will praise you with songs of joy.

I lie awake thinking of you,
meditating on you through the night.
Because you are my helper,
I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings.
I cling to you;
your strong right hand holds me securely.

But those plotting to destroy me will come to ruin.
They will go down into the depths of the earth.
10 They will die by the sword
and become the food of jackals.
11 But the king will rejoice in God.
All who swear to tell the truth will praise him,
while liars will be silenced.

Numbers 28:16-29:40, Luke 3:23-38, Psalms 62:1-12, Proverbs 11:18-19

Today is the 19th day of March. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I’m Brian. It’s a pleasure and an honor to spend this time together in community with you. As we launch ourselves into the new work week, we also center ourselves in the Scriptures, allowing them to speak the deep truths of the soul into our lives. So, we’re reading from the New Living Translation this week. And we’ll pick up where we left off yesterday. Numbers chapter 28 verse 16 verse 29 verse 40.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your word. Thank You for another step, another day, as Your word washes into our lives and plants the fruit of the Spirit into our very hearts. We invite You to cultivate this as we collaborate with You in life. And we take to heart what we heard in Proverbs today. All of our instant gratification schemes, all of the things that we do, are but for the moment, but the reward of the godly will last. And so come Holy Spirit. We want to walk with You, a steady narrow path that leads to life. One that is day by day, making us whole and holy in Your presence. Come, Holy Spirit, we pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi this is for Linda from New Hampshire. I’m Sue from Costa Rica and I have a grandson who is only three months old and his name is Dylan also. I pray for him every day and I will include your grandson too. Father, I come to You in the name of Dylan and I ask for protection for him. I ask that Your angels will encamp around him and protect him and that he may know and love and trust Jesus. Father please be his hiding place and keep them safe from trouble. Spread Your arms of protection over him. I thank You Lord that Dylan has made a cry for help. And, so, I ask that You put wise people in this place to counsel him and his parents. Open his father’s eyes Father and soften his heart and give him the desire to change. Heal their family. Father, please let Your love settle on their home. We stand against __ and anger and Lord we claim both of our sons for Your kingdom. I also ask God, that I just say that I’m in agreement with Annette for all of those who are in prison. Prison walls are not too thick that Your love can not pass through. Father, please comfort and make Yourself available and known to those who’ve never felt the love of a parent or friend. Comfort and hold and let them know how real You are and keep them free from fear. Please encourage men and women to call on You. Oh Lord put guards in there who would love You and want all men to know You. Father, I trust You and I ask all these things in the name of Your son, my Savior, Jesus Christ. Thank You Lord. Love never fails. God bless You all.

He DABbers this is Slave of Jesus in North Carolina. And alright Holy Spirit let’s roll. Lord we ask you to watch over Jacob in AIT and all the DABbers and DABbers families that have military people starting out. What a great adventure to learn some responsibility. And we ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. So, two weird topics today. I had a mole on my neck. This is what I love about God. He can use anything to get us to reach out to people. And it was kind of a black mole and then kind of went down and anyways I finally got checked out and the first medic comes, says yeah, I don’t think there’s nothing wrong with it. But the Holy Spirit kind of kept prompting me, and you kind of see that as an OK, here comes a story about saved by cancer because of this. But no, actually, what it was was I went back and I really wanted a doctor to look at this and they said well we can cut it off and send it off. And while I was waiting to have that done…in the military we have uniforms on…but you take off your top kind of jacket and somebody all the way across the room said, what’s that on your wrist? And I happen to have the DAB wristband that I wear pretty much 24/7 for years now. And, so, I was kind of able to share this is our listen to the Bible and stuff like that. And man, when I was sitting on the table the doctor had one of the other medics do the surgery. It was right near my throat, right near my artery in my throat. And he’s got to cut something off and I could tell it was one of the first times he did it. But hey, these guys have got to practice so if they come under combat they’re doing stuff. So, it was really neat how…I was awake for the whole thing…how they were tying the skin together…he was explaining the best way to do it. But then at that point he asked, hey, so what’s that on your writs? So, I was over the share with both from there, Daily Audio Bible and how it changed my life. Found out there’s nothing wrong with a the mole. Just a mole. But isn’t it amazing that God can use something like a illness or sickness to get us in contact with people to talk about Him. So, that’s my story. Love you guys. Have a great day. Bye.

Hi this is Victoria S. just calling to pray for some of the DABbers. I want to pray for Sharee and also for Joyful Noise having to do with their health. I also want to pray for Diane in Indiana. I just want to pray with you my sister. It was good to hear you. I want to pray for Michael M.’s son and also for Michael and the family. It’s always challenging when the enemy is trying to take our kids. And know you’re going to miss your son but God is faithful. He will bring you back together. We pray for a miracle for you my brother. Jan in New York who’s out of work, I’m praying that God will bless her tremendously because He said He would supply all of our needs according to His riches and glory in Christ Jesus. David said He’s never seen the righteous forsaken nor seen begging for bread. So, hang in there my sister. I want to pray for Debbie in Texas whose daughter, Susie, and the challenges that the poor baby has been going through. The devil is trying to take our child, our children Debbie, but he is a liar because God is faithful in the prayers of the righteous avail us much. And we want to pray that she seek God and see God deliver in a mighty and special way. Gracious Father, we just praise You and we magnify You Lord. We give You the glory and the honor and praise. Lord I pray for Ryan and I pray for Susie Lord. I ask that You touch them today. Oh Lord You deliver with Your mighty hand. Lord You have a special plan and a purpose for their lives and I rebuke the devil right now in the name of Jesus. He can’t have it. Lord You release them and You give them the victory in Christ Jesus. Lord You touch my sister Sharee and Joyful Noise with the neurological and medical issues and…

All is well. I am Daniel. Nora of Canada. Praise God my sister in Christ. Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice. Nora all of heaven rejoices the moment you open the door to your heart and let Jesus Christ our Savior inside. Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice. We rejoice with you today Nora as the family in Christ we are because of your choice. Nora, you are blessed indeed. Choose today this new day to trust in His living word that lives inside you right now. Choose not to worry. Remember the good and overflowing abundance He has given to you in the past. Bring it with you into today and give Him praise. Father, You said, do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself. Thank You for the wisdom you give us Father, to choose to receive through faith all of what You have already given us, to choose to believe Your living word, Jesus Christ the son of God and receive everlasting life. Nora of Canada, trust in Him fully this day for you are without a doubt in the palm of His hand and there is no enemy bigger, no obstacle bigger, no mountain that is bigger than the most high God. And He is our father. Welcome to our family of Christ Nora. Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice. In Jesus name. Amen.

The Daily Audio Bible Reading for Monday March 19, 2018 (NIV)

Numbers 28:16-29:40

Offerings for the Passover

16 “On the fourteenth day of the first month,[a] you must celebrate the Lord’s Passover. 17 On the following day—the fifteenth day of the month—a joyous, seven-day festival will begin, but no bread made with yeast may be eaten. 18 The first day of the festival will be an official day for holy assembly, and no ordinary work may be done on that day. 19 As a special gift you must present a burnt offering to the Lord—two young bulls, one ram, and seven one-year-old male lambs, all with no defects. 20 These will be accompanied by grain offerings of choice flour moistened with olive oil—six quarts with each bull, four quarts with the ram, 21 and two quarts with each of the seven lambs. 22 You must also offer a male goat as a sin offering to purify yourselves and make yourselves right with the Lord.[b] 23 Present these offerings in addition to your regular morning burnt offering. 24 On each of the seven days of the festival, this is how you must prepare the food offering that is presented as a special gift, a pleasing aroma to the Lord. These will be offered in addition to the regular burnt offerings and liquid offerings. 25 The seventh day of the festival will be another official day for holy assembly, and no ordinary work may be done on that day.

Offerings for the Festival of Harvest

26 “At the Festival of Harvest,[c] when you present the first of your new grain to the Lord, you must call an official day for holy assembly, and you may do no ordinary work on that day. 27 Present a special burnt offering on that day as a pleasing aroma to the Lord. It will consist of two young bulls, one ram, and seven one-year-old male lambs. 28 These will be accompanied by grain offerings of choice flour moistened with olive oil—six quarts with each bull, four quarts with the ram, 29 and two quarts with each of the seven lambs. 30 Also, offer one male goat to purify yourselves and make yourselves right with the Lord. 31 Prepare these special burnt offerings, along with their liquid offerings, in addition to the regular burnt offering and its accompanying grain offering. Be sure that all the animals you sacrifice have no defects.

Offerings for the Festival of Trumpets

29 “Celebrate the Festival of Trumpets each year on the first day of the appointed month in early autumn.[d] You must call an official day for holy assembly, and you may do no ordinary work. On that day you must present a burnt offering as a pleasing aroma to the Lord. It will consist of one young bull, one ram, and seven one-year-old male lambs, all with no defects. These must be accompanied by grain offerings of choice flour moistened with olive oil—six quarts[e] with the bull, four quarts[f] with the ram, and two quarts[g] with each of the seven lambs. In addition, you must sacrifice a male goat as a sin offering to purify yourselves and make yourselves right with the Lord.[h] These special sacrifices are in addition to your regular monthly and daily burnt offerings, and they must be given with their prescribed grain offerings and liquid offerings. These offerings are given as a special gift to the Lord, a pleasing aroma to him.

Offerings for the Day of Atonement

“Ten days later, on the tenth day of the same month,[i] you must call another holy assembly. On that day, the Day of Atonement, the people must go without food and must do no ordinary work. You must present a burnt offering as a pleasing aroma to the Lord. It will consist of one young bull, one ram, and seven one-year-old male lambs, all with no defects. These offerings must be accompanied by the prescribed grain offerings of choice flour moistened with olive oil—six quarts of choice flour with the bull, four quarts of choice flour with the ram, 10 and two quarts of choice flour with each of the seven lambs. 11 You must also sacrifice one male goat for a sin offering. This is in addition to the sin offering of atonement and the regular daily burnt offering with its grain offering, and their accompanying liquid offerings.

Offerings for the Festival of Shelters

12 “Five days later, on the fifteenth day of the same month,[j] you must call another holy assembly of all the people, and you may do no ordinary work on that day. It is the beginning of the Festival of Shelters,[k] a seven-day festival to the Lord. 13 On the first day of the festival, you must present a burnt offering as a special gift, a pleasing aroma to the Lord. It will consist of thirteen young bulls, two rams, and fourteen one-year-old male lambs, all with no defects. 14 Each of these offerings must be accompanied by a grain offering of choice flour moistened with olive oil—six quarts for each of the thirteen bulls, four quarts for each of the two rams, 15 and two quarts for each of the fourteen lambs. 16 You must also sacrifice a male goat as a sin offering, in addition to the regular burnt offering with its accompanying grain offering and liquid offering.

17 “On the second day of this seven-day festival, sacrifice twelve young bulls, two rams, and fourteen one-year-old male lambs, all with no defects. 18 Each of these offerings of bulls, rams, and lambs must be accompanied by its prescribed grain offering and liquid offering. 19 You must also sacrifice a male goat as a sin offering, in addition to the regular burnt offering with its accompanying grain offering and liquid offering.

20 “On the third day of the festival, sacrifice eleven young bulls, two rams, and fourteen one-year-old male lambs, all with no defects. 21 Each of these offerings of bulls, rams, and lambs must be accompanied by its prescribed grain offering and liquid offering. 22 You must also sacrifice a male goat as a sin offering, in addition to the regular burnt offering with its accompanying grain offering and liquid offering.

23 “On the fourth day of the festival, sacrifice ten young bulls, two rams, and fourteen one-year-old male lambs, all with no defects. 24 Each of these offerings of bulls, rams, and lambs must be accompanied by its prescribed grain offering and liquid offering. 25 You must also sacrifice a male goat as a sin offering, in addition to the regular burnt offering with its accompanying grain offering and liquid offering.

29 “On the sixth day of the festival, sacrifice eight young bulls, two rams, and fourteen one-year-old male lambs, all with no defects. 30 Each of these offerings of bulls, rams, and lambs must be accompanied by its prescribed grain offering and liquid offering. 31 You must also sacrifice a male goat as a sin offering, in addition to the regular burnt offering with its accompanying grain offering and liquid offering.

32 “On the seventh day of the festival, sacrifice seven young bulls, two rams, and fourteen one-year-old male lambs, all with no defects. 33 Each of these offerings of bulls, rams, and lambs must be accompanied by its prescribed grain offering and liquid offering. 34 You must also sacrifice one male goat as a sin offering, in addition to the regular burnt offering with its accompanying grain offering and liquid offering.

35 “On the eighth day of the festival, proclaim another holy day. You must do no ordinary work on that day. 36 You must present a burnt offering as a special gift, a pleasing aroma to the Lord. It will consist of one young bull, one ram, and seven one-year-old male lambs, all with no defects. 37 Each of these offerings must be accompanied by its prescribed grain offering and liquid offering. 38 You must also sacrifice one male goat as a sin offering, in addition to the regular burnt offering with its accompanying grain offering and liquid offering.

39 “You must present these offerings to the Lord at your annual festivals. These are in addition to the sacrifices and offerings you present in connection with vows, or as voluntary offerings, burnt offerings, grain offerings, liquid offerings, or peace offerings.”

Psalm 61

Psalm 61

For the choir director: A psalm of David, to be accompanied by stringed instruments.

O God, listen to my cry!
Hear my prayer!
From the ends of the earth,
I cry to you for help
when my heart is overwhelmed.
Lead me to the towering rock of safety,
for you are my safe refuge,
a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me.
Let me live forever in your sanctuary,
safe beneath the shelter of your wings! Interlude

For you have heard my vows, O God.
You have given me an inheritance reserved for those who fear your name.
Add many years to the life of the king!
May his years span the generations!
May he reign under God’s protection forever.
May your unfailing love and faithfulness watch over him.
Then I will sing praises to your name forever
as I fulfill my vows each day.

Numbers 26:1-51, Luke 2:36-52, Psalms 60:1-12, Proverbs 11:15

Today is the 18th day of March. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian and, of course, it is wonderful to be here with you today at the threshold of a brand-new, shiny, sparkly week. We have sailed past the center of this month and are moving into the back half and I pray that this brand-new week is greeting you well. We’ll pick up where we left off last week, which was yesterday, only we’ll change translations and read from the New Living Translation this week. Numbers chapter 26 verse 52 through 28 verse 15.

Prayer:

We thank You Father again for Your word. And even though just a day has past and we’re into this new week, Your mercies are new every morning. Every day is a restart. Every week is a restart. And as we crossed the threshold of this week, we have the opportunity to make choices in advance about how we’re going to live into this new week, whether were going to walk intimately in fellowship with You or whether we’re going to wing it and do our own thing and remember You when we remember You. We want to walk with You God every day of our lives, every moment of every day. We want to be in fellowship with You. We want to be in constant conversation with You, friendship with You, not just about things we need to make choices about or things we need to do or how we need Your help, but friendship. So, come Holy Spirit into this week. We ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:

Hi family it’s Shannon from Texas and I’m heading into work this morning. And as much as I don’t like to even say these things out loud, I’m really struggling, I really need your prayer. As much as I know that I have a direct link to the Lord, I know that it helps to have other prayer warriors praying for me. I’m really have been attached since I’ve taken this job and I know that the Lord gave me this job. I don’t know that I’ve ever been this attacked in my life. I’ve got this…I don’t know what to call it. I’m not claiming that I have it…but I’m so agitated because I have some symptoms of something called __ and it’s plaguing me and I can’t continue to go on functioning with this and I really need your prayer for that. Also, just…things are not going that great at work. I found out that I’m not going to get an advanced travel card am going to be traveling extensively for the first six months. The reason I’m not getting it is because I owe $990 and just don’t have it right now. I didn’t get paid for the first month. And it’s just stuff like that that’s like wow. And there’s a lot of history to that because of a former employee that kind of really betrayed me. And it’s money that they’re saying out to them. So, it’s just like…just a lot to it and I’m just struggling and I never struggled like this before we’re I feel like it’s taking me out. So, please pray for me. I love you guys. I haven’t been praying for others and that’s something that I’ve never done. So, just…I love you guys. I appreciate you.

Hello this is Not Shaken. I’m calling regarding my son Brian. He’s been in jail seven weeks now for fighting with his girlfriend, the mother of his two daughters. And he is getting out on bail. We did not bail him out because we wanted him to stay in there. They both have drug addictions. She was breast feeding the baby while on meth and there was meth throughout the baby’s hair in the test sample. But he’s going to be moving in with me and my family and I’m just praying that God’s Brian will show himself. And I know he wants to do the right thing. But he has addictions and one of his addictions is his the mother of his children and I believe they’re both have sexual addictions as well as drugs. And I’m just praying that he has to stay away from her because of accusations that she’s made. And I’m praying that he will do that because he’s fine without her but when they get together they’re poison to each other. And I’m just praying that he’ll be the best father to these little girls, that he will get his act together and do everything that he needs to do to care for them and put everything else in his life aside and just focus on God. And I’m just asking for prayers for everyone on this. And I do pray for all of the other…

Good morning everybody this is Debbie from Sarasota. I just wanted to say I’m praying for all of you. And just this morning I just heard Annette from Oklahoma and Linda from New Hampshire and I just wanted to let you know that both of you have similar things that you prayed about to me. And I you know a lot of you know about my son Michael being in prison as well. And Linda, the fact that you said that your ex-husbands father was very abusive and it affected your son, well that’s exactly what happened in my life. So, I just want to pray DABbers for all of our families, especially for the people in prison and for all of our families children that they would be able to just get the grace from God to be able to overcome all the negativity and the emotional disruptions that happened in our lives. Lord, I pray that you protect them and lead them out of this negativity and protect them from being abused any longer. Lord, give them the comfort they need and the ability to just keep going on and feeling safe with You Lord and with moms and grandmas and, you know, everyone Lord. I just pray that You give these children confidence and help them to get over these weary problems that they are having. I know. My son tried to commit suicide as well in high school. So, I get all of that and just know that I’m praying for all of you. And everyone online I’m praying for you. And everyone on China’s prayer line, I’m praying for you. All right, love you all. Bye.

Hi daily audio Bible family. This is Mel, MEL, Mel from central Florida and I am calling for prayer request for myself, which is very hard for me to do. I normally pray for others and tend to just give praise and thanks rather than ask for things, but I really have been struggling lately with sleep, lack of sleep. And it’s…I don’t know what to do anymore. I’ve tried a lot of different options, anywhere from like over-the-counter medication to more natural things. I’ve tried praying and I’ve tried air diffusers, I mean, oils, anything that you can think of, yoga, breathing, and none of it is working. Right now, it’s currently 3 o’clock in the morning and I haven’t fallen asleep yet. I have to wake up tomorrow. I’ve got a busy day. This is like the fourth day this week that I’m going to get less than four hours of sleep. And I just really ask, please, please pray for me. Like I said, I pray for you guys all the time. And it’s so hard to ask for prayer when I know there are so many things going on out there, but I appreciate any prayers that you have. Also, anyone else that’s dealing with sleep or insomnia. I want to pray for you. I’ve only been going through this for a short…well…a couple months now, but I know some people struggle with this for their whole life. So, I pray for everybody who has any sort of sleep disorder or insomnia or just issues with sleep. Thank you again. I hope you all have a blessed day. Bye-bye.

The Daily Audio Bible Reading for Sunday March 18, 2018 (NIV)

Numbers 26:52-28:15

52 Then the Lord said to Moses, 53 “Divide the land among the tribes, and distribute the grants of land in proportion to the tribes’ populations, as indicated by the number of names on the list. 54 Give the larger tribes more land and the smaller tribes less land, each group receiving a grant in proportion to the size of its population. 55 But you must assign the land by lot, and give land to each ancestral tribe according to the number of names on the list. 56 Each grant of land must be assigned by lot among the larger and smaller tribal groups.”

The Tribe of Levi

57 This is the record of the Levites who were counted according to their clans:

The Gershonite clan, named after their ancestor Gershon.
The Kohathite clan, named after their ancestor Kohath.
The Merarite clan, named after their ancestor Merari.

58 The Libnites, the Hebronites, the Mahlites, the Mushites, and the Korahites were all subclans of the Levites.

Now Kohath was the ancestor of Amram, 59 and Amram’s wife was named Jochebed. She also was a descendant of Levi, born among the Levites in the land of Egypt. Amram and Jochebed became the parents of Aaron, Moses, and their sister, Miriam. 60 To Aaron were born Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. 61 But Nadab and Abihu died when they burned before the Lord the wrong kind of fire, different than he had commanded.

62 The men from the Levite clans who were one month old or older numbered 23,000. But the Levites were not included in the registration of the rest of the people of Israel because they were not given an allotment of land when it was divided among the Israelites.

63 So these are the results of the registration of the people of Israel as conducted by Moses and Eleazar the priest on the plains of Moab beside the Jordan River, across from Jericho. 64 Not one person on this list had been among those listed in the previous registration taken by Moses and Aaron in the wilderness of Sinai. 65 For the Lord had said of them, “They will all die in the wilderness.” Not one of them survived except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

The Daughters of Zelophehad

27 One day a petition was presented by the daughters of Zelophehad—Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. Their father, Zelophehad, was a descendant of Hepher son of Gilead, son of Makir, son of Manasseh, son of Joseph. These women stood before Moses, Eleazar the priest, the tribal leaders, and the entire community at the entrance of the Tabernacle.[a] “Our father died in the wilderness,” they said. “He was not among Korah’s followers, who rebelled against the Lord; he died because of his own sin. But he had no sons. Why should the name of our father disappear from his clan just because he had no sons? Give us property along with the rest of our relatives.”

So Moses brought their case before the Lord. And the Lord replied to Moses, “The claim of the daughters of Zelophehad is legitimate. You must give them a grant of land along with their father’s relatives. Assign them the property that would have been given to their father.

“And give the following instructions to the people of Israel: If a man dies and has no son, then give his inheritance to his daughters. And if he has no daughter either, transfer his inheritance to his brothers. 10 If he has no brothers, give his inheritance to his father’s brothers. 11 But if his father has no brothers, give his inheritance to the nearest relative in his clan. This is a legal requirement for the people of Israel, just as the Lord commanded Moses.”

Joshua Chosen to Lead Israel

12 One day the Lord said to Moses, “Climb one of the mountains east of the river,[b] and look out over the land I have given the people of Israel. 13 After you have seen it, you will die like your brother, Aaron, 14 for you both rebelled against my instructions in the wilderness of Zin. When the people of Israel rebelled, you failed to demonstrate my holiness to them at the waters.” (These are the waters of Meribah at Kadesh[c] in the wilderness of Zin.)

15 Then Moses said to the Lord, 16 “O Lord, you are the God who gives breath to all creatures. Please appoint a new man as leader for the community. 17 Give them someone who will guide them wherever they go and will lead them into battle, so the community of the Lord will not be like sheep without a shepherd.”

18 The Lord replied, “Take Joshua son of Nun, who has the Spirit in him, and lay your hands on him. 19 Present him to Eleazar the priest before the whole community, and publicly commission him to lead the people. 20 Transfer some of your authority to him so the whole community of Israel will obey him. 21 When direction from the Lord is needed, Joshua will stand before Eleazar the priest, who will use the Urim—one of the sacred lots cast before the Lord—to determine his will. This is how Joshua and the rest of the community of Israel will determine everything they should do.”

22 So Moses did as the Lord commanded. He presented Joshua to Eleazar the priest and the whole community. 23 Moses laid his hands on him and commissioned him to lead the people, just as the Lord had commanded through Moses.

The Daily Offerings

28 The Lord said to Moses, “Give these instructions to the people of Israel: The offerings you present as special gifts are a pleasing aroma to me; they are my food. See to it that they are brought at the appointed times and offered according to my instructions.

“Say to the people: This is the special gift you must present to the Lord as your daily burnt offering. You must offer two one-year-old male lambs with no defects. Sacrifice one lamb in the morning and the other in the evening. With each lamb you must offer a grain offering of two quarts[d] of choice flour mixed with one quart[e] of pure oil of pressed olives. This is the regular burnt offering instituted at Mount Sinai as a special gift, a pleasing aroma to the Lord. Along with it you must present the proper liquid offering of one quart of alcoholic drink with each lamb, poured out in the Holy Place as an offering to the Lord. Offer the second lamb in the evening with the same grain offering and liquid offering. It, too, is a special gift, a pleasing aroma to the Lord.

The Sabbath Offerings

“On the Sabbath day, sacrifice two one-year-old male lambs with no defects. They must be accompanied by a grain offering of four quarts[f] of choice flour moistened with olive oil, and a liquid offering. 10 This is the burnt offering to be presented each Sabbath day, in addition to the regular burnt offering and its accompanying liquid offering.

The Monthly Offerings

11 “On the first day of each month, present an extra burnt offering to the Lord of two young bulls, one ram, and seven one-year-old male lambs, all with no defects. 12 These must be accompanied by grain offerings of choice flour moistened with olive oil—six quarts[g] with each bull, four quarts with the ram, 13 and two quarts with each lamb. This burnt offering will be a special gift, a pleasing aroma to the Lord. 14 You must also present a liquid offering with each sacrifice: two quarts[h] of wine for each bull, a third of a gallon[i] for the ram, and one quart[j] for each lamb. Present this monthly burnt offering on the first day of each month throughout the year.

15 “On the first day of each month, you must also offer one male goat for a sin offering to the Lord. This is in addition to the regular burnt offering and its accompanying liquid offering.

Luke 3:1-22

John the Baptist Prepares the Way

It was now the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius, the Roman emperor. Pontius Pilate was governor over Judea; Herod Antipas was ruler[a] over Galilee; his brother Philip was ruler[b] over Iturea and Traconitis; Lysanias was ruler over Abilene. Annas and Caiaphas were the high priests. At this time a message from God came to John son of Zechariah, who was living in the wilderness. Then John went from place to place on both sides of the Jordan River, preaching that people should be baptized to show that they had repented of their sins and turned to God to be forgiven. Isaiah had spoken of John when he said,

“He is a voice shouting in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord’s coming!
Clear the road for him!
The valleys will be filled,
and the mountains and hills made level.
The curves will be straightened,
and the rough places made smooth.
And then all people will see
the salvation sent from God.’”[c]

When the crowds came to John for baptism, he said, “You brood of snakes! Who warned you to flee the coming wrath? Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones. Even now the ax of God’s judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire.”

10 The crowds asked, “What should we do?”

11 John replied, “If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.”

12 Even corrupt tax collectors came to be baptized and asked, “Teacher, what should we do?”

13 He replied, “Collect no more taxes than the government requires.”

14 “What should we do?” asked some soldiers.

John replied, “Don’t extort money or make false accusations. And be content with your pay.”

15 Everyone was expecting the Messiah to come soon, and they were eager to know whether John might be the Messiah. 16 John answered their questions by saying, “I baptize you with[d] water; but someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not even worthy to be his slave and untie the straps of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.[e] 17 He is ready to separate the chaff from the wheat with his winnowing fork. Then he will clean up the threshing area, gathering the wheat into his barn but burning the chaff with never-ending fire.” 18 John used many such warnings as he announced the Good News to the people.

19 John also publicly criticized Herod Antipas, the ruler of Galilee,[f] for marrying Herodias, his brother’s wife, and for many other wrongs he had done. 20 So Herod put John in prison, adding this sin to his many others.

The Baptism of Jesus

21 One day when the crowds were being baptized, Jesus himself was baptized. As he was praying, the heavens opened, 22 and the Holy Spirit, in bodily form, descended on him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, “You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy.[g]

Psalm 61

Today is the 17th day of March. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It is a pleasure and an honor to be here with you today as we close down another one of our weeks together. Man, it was like a month ago now that we were just departing for Israel. That’s crazy how fast things move. The days and the weeks they just move by day by day, step by step. So, we’ll take the next step forward in the Scriptures even as we close down another week. We’ve been reading from the Christian Standard Bible this week and we’ll continue to do that today. Numbers chapter 26 verses 1 through 51.

Commentary:

Okay. So, we move rather quickly from Jesus birth to the time that he was twelve years old and his staying behind in Jerusalem. But when Jesus was a baby and was going through all the rituals around that, circumcision, sacrifice, all that, prophetic words were spoken over him in the hearing of other people. And this isn’t dissimilar to John the Baptist. So, words were spoken over John and Zechariah his father’s mouth was opened and the people marveled and wondered, what’s going to become of this kid? The same thing happened with Jesus. What’s going to become of this? So, this shows us that both John and Jesus, that they weren’t created in a vacuum, there were words that were spoken over them right from the very beginning and people were wondering, people were wondering what would become of these kids? And we can see that Jesus was raised in a religious home, a devout Jewish home. They made the annual pilgrimage to Jerusalem. So, although Jesus wasn’t a native of Jerusalem, he wasn’t unfamiliar. He had been born near there in Bethlehem. And, so, this one year He decides to stay back, which is a nightmare for Mary and Joseph. You can only imagine. So, their travelling a whole day’s walk out of Jerusalem, a long way, before they discover Jesus is missing. And then they have to turn around and go back up hill all the way, a whole day’s journey to get back to Jerusalem. And then they’re searching for Jesus for three days in Jerusalem. And if you’ve even been to Jerusalem, Jerusalem today is a metropolis and although it’s bigger now then it was then, it was still a large hub, a very large city for the time. And chaotic, as it still is today. So, man, you spend one day going back to Jerusalem looking for your kid, freaking out every step of the way, wondering what could have happened. And then the next three days you’re all over the place, right?  And they couldn’t go to Kinkos and print of pictures of Jesus. Have you seen this boy? They have to ask people everywhere and try to describe Him. So, you can only imagine the angst of that. Meanwhile, Jesus is in the temple spending time with the religious leaders, talking, asking questions. And they are amazed by His understanding. They’re amazed at the things that are coming out of His mouth. A lot of times when we read the story of Jesus, it’s like His ministry just begins to happen, it just kind of comes out of nowhere. He’s baptized by John in the Jordan River. No one has ever heard of Him before and then boom, He’s just on the radar. But what we can see is that that’s not the case. People were wondering about Him from the get go. And these very people that Jesus is sitting and talking to as a twelve year old boy, these are going to be some of the people that find themselves opposed to Him and even plotting against Him in the long run. So, when His ministry does begin to flourish and God does begin to move in the Galilee with Jesus and the religious leaders are travelling all the way from Jerusalem to check Him out we get clues to why. He had already been on the radar. He was that kid. He was that kid that was in the temple, talking to people, right? So, like, word of that would have spread around. So, we see in Jesus’ ministry, that at first he doesn’t have enemies. The religious leaders aren’t against him. In fact, they’re trying to co-opt Him because He speaks with authority that they don’t have. He’s able to articulate what’s really going on in people’s hearts in a way that they can’t. It’s only when Jesus won’t play ball, basically, that He begins to get enemies. When He begins to break tradition. When He begins to reveal that the traditions have lost their soul. They’re just actions and activities that are not any longer connected to the heart. That’s been lost. When He breaks those traditions and begins to say, we’ve lost the plot of our story here. All of these things that we’re supposed to be doing are connected to a spiritual reality inside of us and we’ve lost that, that’s when He begins to make enemies. So, as we close our week down, we have this intriguing glimpse into the early life of Jesus, how things were swirling around Him from the get go. And if we can remember this as we move further into the gospel of Luke and then the gospel of John, we can watch all of this take place. And we can watch Jesus as He emerges, capturing the hearts of people and how that breeds a lot of unrest on the religious authorities because Jesus can certainly unsettle some things significantly. And Jesus calls out what’s really going on. And we’ll see this develop in the coming days.

Prayer:

So, Father, we thank You for another week, another week in Your Word. And You have ministered so much wisdom and healing in our lives through Your word that we are unspeakably grateful. And we ask that You plant all that You have spoken to us this week in our lives, that it may yield the fruit of the Spirit in our hearts. And that we can continue to collaborate with You on ridding ourselves of the weeds that are choking the fruit of the Spirit out of our lives. Come, Holy Spirit, we pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Announcements:

dailyaudiobible.com is the website. It’s home base. It’s where you find out what’s going on around here.

So, I mentioned yesterday the latest app update. Make sure you update that. This update specifically allows you to check off the days that you have listened to manually. Community Prayer and Praise:

Hey Daily Audio Bible. My name is John. I’m calling from Florida. And I can’t tell you how much this wonderful little community and show has ministered to me and my family since December. It’s just been unspeakable and we’re so thankful. I got introduced because…well…just out of the blue. I’ve had a terrible terrifying loss leveled against me very unfairly back at the end of December and it’s just upset our lives so much…we just…the silver lining to it all…it’s just driven us closer to the Lord. Brian, every time you read the Psalms and hear David surrounded by his enemies attacking, how it just drives him to the Lord more and more, that’s what it’s done. So, this is an ongoing thing and we’re trying as hard as we can to have integrity of heart and search our hearts and try to figure out if there is the tiniest bit of wrong in us at all. We want to make things right. We’re trying so hard and it’s very scary. I’m scared. I don’t want to be scared and I know it’s wrong to be. Jesus is with us. But if I could…I covet anyone’s prayers out there. Just, please Lord let this work out the way that You wanted it to, the way that we and even our adversaries can know you more and honor you through whatever with the outcome is. Thank you. Thank you, Brian. Thank you everybody. We love you. We just started supporting you too. We can support you enough. Thanks guys.

Hey their family. It’s Bay from Canada. I want to give a shout out to all my DAB family who are still Sneezing Jesus. And I want to give thanks for this podcast that is Sneezing Jesus all over the globe and enriching lives one day at a time. A special welcome to my best friend Dar who finally downloaded the app and is listening daily. She is in awe that such a community exists. Already she the experience the best of both worlds I would say, hearing both Brian and Jill reading. So, I’m hoping that she will call in soon to share her experience of what DAB is doing in her life. Also want to give a special welcome to all the new listeners and longtime listeners who recently called in for the first time. Know that prayers are being offered up for you in this community by some gifted prayer warriors in the background. Most don’t call in but we know they were there because we feel their prayers in the way that God is growing us and this community as a whole. Amazing. Amazing. Okay. That’s all for now. Oh, before I go please pray for me with regard to the More Conference. I’ve already received notice from the airline about changes to my flight. Nothing major. But it could’ve been worse if not for Jill and her team and others, of course, who have created a canopy of prayer over the conference. I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store. Blessings all. Bay from Canada. Talk to you soon.

Good morning family this is Salvation is Mine in San Angelo California. Let’s pray. Dear heavenly Father we come before You right now just saying thank You for who You are for giving us another breath in our bodies that belongs to You to wake up today, to be able to see a new day, and to be in Your presence and all that that entails Lord God. Help us to have a clean, wonderful, blessed spirit today that will shine through and that will someone else will be able to see dear Lord. Help us to remember that there are those out there that are not as fortunate as we that have shelter, clothing, food, possessions. There’s someone walking the street today Lord God that is going to be eating out of a garbage can Lord God and we want to ask if You would just bless them with a meal Lord God, that someone will walk by them or walk beside them Lord and offer them some money to buy a meal or offer them some money so they can get a hotel room and take a shower Lord God and lay in a bed for the first time in so long Lord God that they will find some pleasure in their day. And that in that giving, the person that is doing the giving Lord God will be able to emit Your presence and Your love to that of the person. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. Have a great day family. This is Salvation is Mine in San Angelo California. Bye-bye.

Hello this is Teresa from Florida again. Again, I’m just giving a praise report for my a marriage. My husband and I are getting along really well. I praise God for it every day. Like I said, we’re still struggling. We still have a lot of work to do. A lot of heartbreak and heart to make up for and to get over but we’re doing really good. He’s having some problems keeping a job right now. I don’t know why but he’s never had this problem before. He’s getting back into having to do some physical labor and he’s getting older and it’s hard a form I guess. But he just started a new job. I just ask for everyone to pray for us, to pray for him, to pray for his heart, that he will come to Jesus to give him the strength to continue with his job or for God to lead him to the one that’s right for him. He wants to move if he can’t keep this job and I don’t know how that’s going to work. My families here, my parents are here. They’re getting older and they need me to help take care of them and to help them with their daily activities. I just pray that God will lead us where He wants us to be and to help me with my patients with my parents and my children and the struggles that we’re facing. And again, I thank you Brian. Thank you for this broadcast. You have made a world the difference in my life and I praise God for you every day. Thanks. Until next time.

26 After the plague, the Lord said to Moses and Eleazar son of Aaron the priest, “Take a census of the entire Israelite community by their ancestral families[a] of those twenty years old or more who can serve in Israel’s army.”(A)

So Moses and the priest Eleazar said to them in the plains of Moab(B) by the Jordan across from Jericho, “Take a census of those twenty years old or more, as the Lord had commanded Moses and the Israelites who came out of the land of Egypt.”(C)

Luke 2:36-52

Anna’s Testimony

36 There was also a prophetess,(A) Anna, a daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher.(B) She was well along in years, having lived with her husband seven years after her marriage,[a](C) 37 and was a widow for eighty-four years.[b] She did not leave the temple, serving God night and day with fasting and prayers.(D) 38 At that very moment,[c] she came up and began to thank God and to speak about him to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.[d](E)

The Family’s Return to Nazareth

39 When they had completed everything according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth.(F) 40 The boy grew up and became strong, filled with wisdom, and God’s grace was on him.(G)

In His Father’s House

41 Every year his parents traveled to Jerusalem for the Passover Festival.(H) 42 When he was twelve years old, they went up according to the custom of the festival.(I) 43 After those days were over,(J) as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but his parents[e] did not know it. 44 Assuming he was in the traveling party, they went a day’s journey. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends. 45 When they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem to search for him. 46 After three days, they found him in the temple sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all those who heard him were astounded at his understanding and his answers. 48 When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him,(K) “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”(L)

49 “Why were you searching for me?” he asked them. “Didn’t you know that it was necessary for me to be in my Father’s house?”[f] 50 But they did not understand what he said to them.(M)

In Favor with God and with People

51 Then he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was obedient to them. His mother kept all these things in her heart.(N) 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and with people.(O)

God, you have rejected us;
you have broken us down;
you have been angry. Restore us![a](C)
You have shaken the land and split it open.
Heal its fissures, for it shudders.(D)
You have made your people suffer hardship;
you have given us wine to drink
that made us stagger.(E)
You have given a signal flag to those who fear you,
so that they can flee before the archers.[b](F)Selah
Save with your right hand, and answer me,
so that those you love may be rescued.(G)

God has spoken in his sanctuary:[c]
“I will celebrate!
I will divide up Shechem.(H)
I will apportion the Valley of Succoth.(I)
Gilead is mine, Manasseh is mine,
and Ephraim is my helmet;(J)
Judah is my scepter.(K)
Moab is my washbasin.(L)
I throw my sandal on Edom;(M)
I shout in triumph over Philistia.”(N)

Who will bring me to the fortified city?
Who will lead me to Edom?(O)
10 God, haven’t you rejected us?
God, you do not march out with our armies.(P)

for human help is worthless.(Q)
